Guozhi Wei 5609c8b607 [X86FixupLEAs] Try again to transform the sequence LEA/SUB to SUB/SUB
This patch transforms the sequence
    lea (reg1, reg2), reg3
    sub reg3, reg4
to two sub instructions
    sub reg1, reg4
    sub reg2, reg4

Similar optimization can also be applied to LEA/ADD sequence.

The modifications to TwoAddressInstructionPass is to ensure the operands of ADD
instruction has expected order (the dest register of LEA should be src register
of ADD).

Hongtao Yu 1cb47a063e [CSSPGO] Unblock optimizations with pseudo probe instrumentation.
The IR/MIR pseudo probe intrinsics don't get materialized into real machine instructions and therefore they don't incur runtime cost directly. However, they come with indirect cost by blocking certain optimizations. Some of the blocking are intentional (such as blocking code merge) for better counts quality while the others are accidental. This change unblocks perf-critical optimizations that do not affect counts quality. They include:

1. IR InstCombine, sinking load operation to shorten lifetimes.
2. MIR LiveRangeShrink, similar to #1
3. MIR TwoAddressInstructionPass, i.e, opeq transform
4. MIR function argument copy elision
5. IR stack protection. (though not perf-critical but nice to have).

Jeremy Morse d73275993b [DebugInstrRef] Substitute debug value numbers to handle optimizations
This patch touches two optimizations, TwoAddressInstruction and X86's
FixupLEAs pass, both of which optimize by re-creating instructions. For
LEAs, various bits of arithmetic are better represented as LEAs on X86,
while TwoAddressInstruction sometimes converts instrs into three address
instructions if it's profitable.

For debug instruction referencing, both of these require substitutions to
be created -- the old instruction number must be pointed to the new
instruction number, as illustrated in the added test. If this isn't done,
any variable locations based on the optimized instruction are
conservatively dropped.

Kai Luo 8a5858c8fd [TwoAddressInstruction][PowerPC] Call `regOverlapsSet` to find out real clobbers and uses
In `rescheduleKillAboveMI`, current implementation uses `SmallSet` to track reg's defs and uses. When comparing, use `SmallSet.count` to find out if it's clobbered or used. It's not correct if involving subregisters. This patch uses `regOverlapsSet` already used by `rescheduleMIBelowKill` to fix the issue.

James Y Knight 60433c63ac Remove TwoAddressInstructionPass::sink3AddrInstruction.
This function has a bug which will incorrectly reschedule instructions
after an INLINEASM_BR (which can branch). (The bug may also allow
scheduling past a throwing-CALL, I'm not certain.)

I could fix that bug, but, as the removed FIXME notes, it's better to
attempt rescheduling before converting to 3-addr form, as that may
remove the need to convert in the first place. In fact, the code to do
such reordering was added to this pass only a few months later, in
2011, via the addition of the function rescheduleMIBelowKill. That
code does not contain the same bug.

The removal of the sink3AddrInstruction function is not a no-op: in
some cases it would move an instruction post-conversion, when
rescheduleMIBelowKill would not move the instruction pre-converison.
However, this does not appear to be important: the machine instruction
scheduler can reorder the after-conversion instructions, in any case.

This patch fixes a kernel panic 4.4 LTS x86_64 Linux kernels, when
built with clang after 4b0aa5724f.

Kang Zhang 1b6602275d [MachineVerifier] Add TiedOpsRewritten flag to fix verify two-address error
Summary:
Currently, MachineVerifier will attempt to verify that tied operands
satisfy register constraints as soon as the function is no longer in
SSA form. However, PHIElimination will take the function out of SSA
form while TwoAddressInstructionPass will actually rewrite tied operands
to match the constraints. PHIElimination runs first in the pipeline.
Therefore, whenever the MachineVerifier is run after PHIElimination,
it will encounter verification errors on any tied operands.

This patch adds a function property called TiedOpsRewritten that will be
set by TwoAddressInstructionPass and will control when the verifier checks
tied operands.

Craig Topper b6e2796114 [X86][TwoAddressInstructionPass] Teach tryInstructionCommute to continue checking for commutable FMA operands in more cases.
Previously we would only check for another commutable operand if the first commute was an aggressive commute.

But if we have two kill operands and neither is tied to the def at the start, we should consider both operands as the one to use as the new def.

This improves the loop in the fma-commute-loop.ll test. This test is derived from a post from discourse here https://llvm.discourse.group/t/unnecessary-vmovapd-instructions-generated-can-you-hint-in-favor-of-vfmadd231pd/582

Craig Topper dc185522fb [TwoAddressInstructionPass] After commuting an instruction and before trying to look for more commutable operands, resample the number of operands.
The new instruciton might have less operands than the original instruction. If we don't resample, the next loop iteration might read an operand that doesn't exist.

X86 can commute blends to movss/movsd which reduces from 4 operands to 3. This happened in the test case that caused r354363 & company to be reverted. A reduced version of that has been committed here.

Really this whole checking for more commutable operands is a little fragile. It assumes that the new instructions operands are the same order and positions as the original except for the pair that was swapped. I don't know of anything that breaks this assumption today, but I've left a fixme. Fixing this will likely require an interface change.

Chandler Carruth 2946cd7010 Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepo
to reflect the new license.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.

Bjorn Pettersson 064944352e [TwoAddressInstructionPass] Replace subregister uses when processing tied operands
Summary:
TwoAddressInstruction pass typically rewrites
  %1:short = foo %0.sub_lo:long
as
  %1:short = COPY %0.sub_lo:long
  %1:short = foo %1:short
when having tied operands.

If there are extra un-tied operands that uses the same reg and
subreg, such as the second and third inputs to fie here:
  %1:short = fie %0.sub_lo:long, %0.sub_hi:long, %0.sub_lo:long
then there was a bug which replaced the register %0 also for
the un-tied operand, but without changing the subregister indices.
So we used to get:
  %1:short = COPY %0.sub_lo:long
  %1:short = fie %1, %1.sub_hi:short, %1.sub_lo:short
With this fix we instead get:
  %1:short = COPY %0.sub_lo:long

Nicola Zaghen d34e60ca85 Rename DEBUG macro to LLVM_DEBUG.
The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects.
The renaming was done as follows:
- git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g'
- git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM
- Manual change to APInt
- Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it.

In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased
to the LLVM_DEBUG() one.

Shiva Chen 801bf7ebbe [DebugInfo] Examine all uses of isDebugValue() for debug instructions.
Because we create a new kind of debug instruction, DBG_LABEL, we need to
check all passes which use isDebugValue() to check MachineInstr is debug
instruction or not. When expelling debug instructions, we should expel
both DBG_VALUE and DBG_LABEL. So, I create a new function,
isDebugInstr(), in MachineInstr to check whether the MachineInstr is
debug instruction or not.

This patch has no new test case. I have run regression test and there is
no difference in regression test.

Craig Topper f6ff51fc62 [TwoAddressInstructionPass] Improve tryInstructionCommute of X86 FMA and vpternlog instructions
These instructions have 3 operands that can be commuted. The first commute we find may not be the best. So we should keep searching if we performed an aggressive commute. There may still be an operand that is killed or a physical register constraint that might be better.

Work towards the unification of MIR and debug output by refactoring the
interfaces.

For MachineOperand::print, keep a simple version that can be easily called
from `dump()`, and a more complex one which will be called from both the
MIRPrinter and MachineInstr::print.

Add extra checks inside MachineOperand for detached operands (operands
with getParent() == nullptr).

Matthias Braun 62378bb5ab TwoAddressInstructionPass: Trigger -O0 behavior on optnone
While we cannot skip the whole TwoAddressInstructionPass even for -O0
there are some parts of the pass that are currently skipped at -O0 but
not for optnone. Changing this as there is no reason to have those two
hit different code paths here.

Jonas Paulsson e86327f290 [TwoAddressInstructionPass] Bugfix in handling of sunk instructions.
An instruction returned by TII->convertToThreeAddress() may contain a %noreg
(undef) operand, which is not expected by tryInstructionTransform(). So if
this MI is sunk to a lower point in MBB, it must be skipped when later
encountered.

A new set SunkInstrs is used for this purpose.

Note: there is no test supplied here, as this was triggered on SystemZ while
working on a review of instruction flags. A test case for this bugfix will be
included in the upcoming SystemZ commit.

This is suboptimal because the assembly code generated has a redundant copy at the end of #BB6 to feed %vreg13 to BB#1:

Ahmed Bougacha a09ff59cc2 [CodeGen] Don't require AA in TwoAddress at -O0.
This is a follow-up to r302611, which moved an -O0 computation of DT
from SDAGISel to TwoAddress.

Don't use it here either, and avoid computing it completely.  The only
use was forwarding the analysis as an optional argument to utility
functions.

Matt Arsenault f403df38eb Replace subregister uses when processing tied operands
This was for some reason skipping operands that are subregisters
instead of keeping the same subregister index.

v_movreld_b32 expects src0 to be the subregister of the tied
super register use/def.

e.g.

v_movreld_b32 v0, v9, <imp-def, tied3> v[0:3], <imp-use, tied2> v[0:3]

was being replaced with

v[4:7] = copy v[0:3]
v_movreld_b32 v0, v9, <imp-def, tied3> v[4:7], <imp-use, tied2> v[4:7],

which really writes to v[0:3]

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 9cfc75c214 CodeGen: Use MachineInstr& in TargetInstrInfo, NFC
This is mostly a mechanical change to make TargetInstrInfo API take
MachineInstr& (instead of MachineInstr* or MachineBasicBlock::iterator)
when the argument is expected to be a valid MachineInstr.  This is a
general API improvement.

Although it would be possible to do this one function at a time, that
would demand a quadratic amount of churn since many of these functions
call each other.  Instead I've done everything as a block and just
updated what was necessary.

This is mostly mechanical fixes: adding and removing `*` and `&`
operators.  The only non-mechanical change is to split
ARMBaseInstrInfo::getOperandLatencyImpl out from
ARMBaseInstrInfo::getOperandLatency.  Previously, the latter took a
`MachineInstr*` which it updated to the instruction bundle leader; now,
the latter calls the former either with the same `MachineInstr&` or the
bundle leader.

As a side effect, this removes a bunch of MachineInstr* to
MachineBasicBlock::iterator implicit conversions, a necessary step
toward fixing PR26753.

Note: I updated WebAssembly, Lanai, and AVR (despite being
off-by-default) since it turned out to be easy.  I couldn't run tests
for AVR since llc doesn't link with it turned on.

Matthias Braun f84547c6e0 LiveIntervalAnalysis: Remove LiveVariables requirement
This requirement was a huge hack to keep LiveVariables alive because it
was optionally used by TwoAddressInstructionPass and PHIElimination.
However we have AnalysisUsage::addUsedIfAvailable() which we can use in
those passes.

This re-applies r260806 with LiveVariables manually added to PowerPC to
hopefully not break the stage 2 bots this time.
