Jeremy Morse fc9dae420c [DebugInfo][InstrRef][NFC] "Final" x86 test cleanup
These are some final test changes for using instruction referencing on X86:
 * Most of these tests just have the flag switched so that they run with
   instr-ref, and just work: these tests were fixed by earlier patches.
 * There are some spurious differences in textual outputs,
 * A few have different temporary labels in the output because more
   MCSymbols are printed to the output.

Jeremy Morse 1dc0e47cb9 [DebugInfo][NFC] Force some tests to not use instruction-referencing
There are various tests that need to be adjusted to test the right
thing with instruction referencing -- usually because the internal
representation of variables is different, sometimes that location lists
change. This patch makes a bunch of tests explicitly not use
instruction referencing, so that a check-llvm test with instruction
referencing on for x86_64 doesn't fail. I'll then convert the tests
to have instr-ref CHECK lines, and similar.

Simon Pilgrim d391e4fe84 [X86] Update RET/LRET instruction to use the same naming convention as IRET (PR36876). NFC
Be more consistent in the naming convention for the various RET instructions to specify in terms of bitwidth.

Helps prevent future scheduler model mismatches like those that were only addressed in D44687.

David Blaikie f6a561c4d6 DebugInfo: Use clang's preferred names for integer types
This reverts c7f16ab3e3 / r109694 - which
suggested this was done to improve consistency with the gdb test suite.
Possible that at the time GCC did not canonicalize integer types, and so
matching types was important for cross-compiler validity, or that it was
only a case of over-constrained test cases that printed out/tested the
exact names of integer types.

In any case neither issue seems to exist today based on my limited
testing - both gdb and lldb canonicalize integer types (in a way that
happens to match Clang's preferred naming, incidentally) and so never
print the original text name produced in the DWARF by GCC or Clang.

This canonicalization appears to be in `integer_types_same_name_p` for
GDB and in `TypeSystemClang::GetBasicTypeEnumeration` for lldb.

(I tested this with one translation unit defining 3 variables - `long`,
`long (*)()`, and `int (*)()`, and another translation unit that had
main, and a function that took `long (*)()` as a parameter - then
compiled them with mismatched compilers (either GCC+Clang, or
Clang+(Clang with this patch applied)) and no matter the combination,
despite the debug info for one CU naming the type "long int" and the
other naming it "long", both debuggers printed out the name as "long"
and were able to correctly perform overload resolution and pass the
`long int (*)()` variable to the `long (*)()` function parameter)

Did find one hiccup, identified by the lldb test suite - that CodeView
was relying on these names to map them to builtin types in that format.
So added some handling for that in LLVM. (these could be split out into
separate patches, but seems small enough to not warrant it - will do
that if there ends up needing any reverti/revisiting)

Currently the max alignment representable is 1GB, see D108661.
Setting the align of an object to 4GB is desirable in some cases to make sure the lower 32 bits are clear which can be used for some optimizations, e.g. https://crbug.com/1016945.

This uses an extra bit in instructions that carry an alignment. We can store 15 bits of "free" information, and with this change some instructions (e.g. AtomicCmpXchgInst) use 14 bits.
We can increase the max alignment representable above 4GB (up to 2^62) since we're only using 33 of the 64 values, but I've just limited it to 4GB for now.

The one place we have to update the bitcode format is for the alloca instruction. It stores its alignment into 5 bits of a 32 bit bitfield. I've added another field which is 8 bits and should be future proof for a while. For backward compatibility, we check if the old field has a value and use that, otherwise use the new field.

Updating clang's max allowed alignment will come in a future patch.

Nikita Popov 80110aafa0 [Tests] Fix incorrect noalias metadata
Mostly this fixes cases where !noalias or !alias.scope were passed
a scope rather than a scope list. In some cases I opted to drop
the metadata entirely instead, because it is not really relevant
to the test.

Roman Lebedev 564d85e090
The maximal representable alignment in LLVM IR is 1GiB, not 512MiB
In LLVM IR, `AlignmentBitfieldElementT` is 5-bit wide
But that means that the maximal alignment exponent is `(1<<5)-2`,
which is `30`, not `29`. And indeed, alignment of `1073741824`
roundtrips IR serialization-deserialization.

While this doesn't seem all that important, this doubles
the maximal supported alignment from 512MiB to 1GiB,
and there's actually one noticeable use-case for that;
On X86, the huge pages can have sizes of 2MiB and 1GiB (!).

So while this doesn't add support for truly huge alignments,
which i think we can easily-ish do if wanted, i think this adds
zero-cost support for a not-trivially-dismissable case.

I don't believe we need any upgrade infrastructure,
and since we don't explicitly record the IR version,
we don't need to bump one either.

As @craig.topper speculates in D108661#2963519,
this might be an artificial limit imposed by the original implementation
of the `getAlignment()` functions.

Matt Arsenault fae05692a3 CodeGen: Print/parse LLTs in MachineMemOperands
This will currently accept the old number of bytes syntax, and convert
it to a scalar. This should be removed in the near future (I think I
converted all of the tests already, but likely missed a few).

Not sure what the exact syntax and policy should be. We can continue
printing the number of bytes for non-generic instructions to avoid
test churn and only allow non-scalar types for generic instructions.

This will currently print the LLT in parentheses, but accept parsing
the existing integers and implicitly converting to scalar. The
parentheses are a bit ugly, but the parser logic seems unable to deal
without either parentheses or some keyword to indicate the start of a
type.

Craig Topper b1c304c494 [CodeGen] Try to make the print of memory operand alignment a little more user friendly.
Memory operands store a base alignment that does not factor in
the effect of the offset on the alignment.

Previously the printing code only printed the base alignment if
it was different than the size. If there is an offset, the reader
would need to figure out the effective alignment themselves. This
has confused me before and someone else was recently confused on
IRC.

This patch prints the possibly offset adjusted alignment if it is
different than the size. And prints the base alignment if it is
different than the alignment. The MIR parser has been updated to
read basealign in addition to align.

[YAML] Use correct source location for unknown key errors.
Currently unknown keys when inputting mapping traits have the location set to the Value.
Example:
```
YAML:1:14: error: unknown key 'UnknownKey'
{UnknownKey: SomeValue}
             ^~~~~~~~~
```
This is unhelpful for a user as it draws them to fix the wrong item.

Puyan Lotfi 7fff1fbd3c [MIRVRegNamer] Experimental MachineInstr stable hashing (Fowler-Noll-Vo)
This hashing scheme has been useful out of tree, and I want to start
experimenting with it. Specifically I want to experiment on the
MIRVRegNamer, MIRCanononicalizer, and eventually the MachineOutliner.

This diff is a first step, that optionally brings stable hashing to the
MIRVRegNamer (and as a result, the MIRCanonicalizer).  We've tested this
hashing scheme on a lot of MachineOperand types that llvm::hash_value
can not handle in a stable manner.

This stable hashing was also the basis for

"Global Machine Outliner for ThinLTO" in EuroLLVM 2020

Vedant Kumar 4855534d10 [MachineVerifier] Verify that a DBG_VALUE has a debug location
Summary:
Verify that each DBG_VALUE has a debug location. This is required by
LiveDebugValues, and perhaps by other late passes.

There's an exception for tests: lots of tests use a two-operand form of
DBG_VALUE for convenience. There's no reason to prevent that.

This is an extension of D80665, but there's no dependency.

Craig Topper 31a166e4cb [X86] Clean up some mir tests with INLINEASM to avoid regdef or to correct the immediate for the regdef.
The immediate used for the regdef is the encoding for the register
class in the enum generated by tablegen. This encoding will change
any time a new register class is added. Since the number is part
of the input, this means it can become stale.

This change modifies some test to avoid this kind of immediate
all together. And updates one test to use the current encoding of
GR64.

Konstantin Schwarz 1a3e89aa2b [MIR] Add comments to INLINEASM immediate flag MachineOperands
Summary:
The INLINEASM MIR instructions use immediate operands to encode the values of some operands.
The MachineInstr pretty printer function already handles those operands and prints human readable annotations instead of the immediates. This patch adds similar annotations to the output of the MIRPrinter, however uses the new MIROperandComment feature.

Previously, since bots turning on EXPENSIVE_CHECKS are essentially turning on
MachineVerifierPass by default on X86 and the fact that
inline-asm-avx-v-constraint-32bit.ll and inline-asm-avx512vl-v-constraint-32bit.ll
are not expected to generate functioning machine code, this would go
down to `report_fatal_error` in MachineVerifierPass. Here passing
`-verify-machineinstrs=0` to make the intent explicit.

On bots llvm-clang-x86_64-expensive-checks-ubuntu and
llvm-clang-x86_64-expensive-checks-debian only,
llc returns 0 for these two tests unexpectedly. I tweaked the RUN line a little
bit in the hope that LIT is the culprit since this change is not in the
codepath these tests are testing.

Summary:
Reland D67847 after D73742 is committed. Replace `sys::Process::Exit(1)`
with `abort` in `report_fatal_error`.

After this patch, for tools turning on `CrashRecoveryContext`,
crash handler installed by `CrashRecoveryContext` is called unless
they installed a non-returning handler using `llvm::install_fatal_error_handler`
like `cc1_main` currently does.

Summary:
This patch could be treated as a rebase of D33960. It also fixes PR35547.
A fix for `llvm/test/Other/close-stderr.ll` is proposed in D68164. Seems
the consensus is that the test is passing by chance and I'm not
sure how important it is for us. So it is removed like in D33960 for now.
The rest of the test fixes are just adding `--crash` flag to `not` tool.

** The reason it fixes PR35547 is

`exit` does cleanup including calling class destructor whereas `abort`
does not do any cleanup. In multithreading environment such as ThinLTO or JIT,
threads may share states which mostly are ManagedStatic<>. If faulting thread
tearing down a class when another thread is using it, there are chances of
memory corruption. This is bad 1. It will stop error reporting like pretty
stack printer; 2. The memory corruption is distracting and nondeterministic in
terms of error message, and corruption type (depending one the timing, it
could be double free, heap free after use, etc.).

Puyan Lotfi 484a7472f1 [llvm][MIRVRegNamerUtils] Adding hashing on FrameIndex MachineOperands.
This patch makes it so that cases where multiple instructions that differ only
in their FrameIndex MachineOperand values no longer collide. For instance:

%1:_(p0) = G_FRAME_INDEX %stack.0
%2:_(p0) = G_FRAME_INDEX %stack.1

Prior to this patch these instructions would collide together.

Puyan Lotfi f364686f34 [llvm][MIRVRegNamerUtil] Adding hashing against MachineInstr flags.
Now, flags will result in differing hashes for a given MI. In effect, if
you have two instructions with everything identical except for their
flags then you should get two different hashes and fewer collisions.

Puyan Lotfi fdc6f4b97b [llvm] Fixing MIRVRegNamerUtils to properly handle 2+ MachineBasicBlocks.
An interplay of code from D70210, along with code from the
Value-Numbering-esque hash-based namer from D70210, as well as some
crusty code from the original MIR-Canon code lead to multiple causes of
failure when canonicalizing or renaming vregs for MIR with multiple
basic blocks. This patch fixes those issues while deleting some no
longer needed code and adding a nice diamond test case to boot.

Amy Huang a078c77d72 [MIR] Add MIR parsing for heap alloc site instruction markers
Summary:
This patch adds MIR parsing and printing for heap alloc markers, which were
added in D69136. They are printed as an operand similar to pre-/post-instr
symbols, with a heap-alloc-marker token and a metadata node.

Craig Topper 8f48ba993b [X86] Model MXCSR for all SSE instructions
This patch adds MXCSR as a reserved physical register and models its use
by X86 SSE instructions. It also adds flag "mayRaiseFPException" for the
instructions that possibly can raise FP exception according to the
architecture definition.

Following what SystemZ and other targets does, only the current rounding
modes and the IEEE exception masks are modeled. *Changes* of the MXCSR
due to exceptions are not modeled.

Jeremy Morse ec32dff0b0 [BranchFolding] skip debug instr to avoid code change
Use the existing helper function in BranchFolding, "countsAsInstruction",
to skip over non-instructions. Otherwise debug instructions can be
identified as the last real instruction in a block, leading to different
codegen decisions when debug is enabled as demonstrated by the test case.

Reid Kleckner 67d440b949 Print quoted backslashes in LLVM IR as \\ instead of \5C
This improves readability of Windows path string literals in LLVM IR.
The LLVM assembler has supported \\ in IR strings for a long time, but
the lexer doesn't tolerate escaped quotes, so they have to be printed as
\22 for now.
