Igor Laevsky 01c3692a10 Strip metadata when speculatively hoisting instructions
This is fix for PR24059.

When we are hoisting instruction above some condition it may turn out
that metadata on this instruction was control dependant on the condition.
This metadata becomes invalid and we need to drop it.

This patch should cover most obvious places of speculative execution (which
I have found by greping isSafeToSpeculativelyExecute). I think there are more
cases but at least this change covers the severe ones.

David Majnemer b611e3f50e [IR] Add token types
This introduces the basic functionality to support "token types".
The motivation stems from the need to perform operations on a Value
whose provenance cannot be obscured.

There are several applications for such a type but my immediate
motivation stems from WinEH. Our personality routine enforces a
single-entry - single-exit regime for cleanups. After several rounds of
optimizations, we may be left with a terminator whose "cleanup-entry
block" is not entirely clear because control flow has merged two
cleanups together. We have experimented with using labels as operands
inside of instructions which are not terminators to indicate where we
came from but found that LLVM does not expect such exotic uses of
BasicBlocks.

Instead, we can use this new type to clearly associate the "entry point"
and "exit point" of our cleanup. This is done by having the cleanuppad
yield a Token and consuming it at the cleanupret.
The token type makes it impossible to obscure or otherwise hide the
Value, making it trivial to track the relationship between the two
points.

What is the burden to the optimizer? Well, it turns out we have already
paid down this cost by accepting that there are certain calls that we
are not permitted to duplicate, optimizations have to watch out for
such instructions anyway. There are additional places in the optimizer
that we will probably have to update but early examination has given me
the impression that this will not be heroic.

Cong Hou 9b4f6b2650 Add new constructors for LoopInfo/DominatorTree/BFI/BPI
Those new constructors make it more natural to construct an object for a function. For example, previously to build a LoopInfo for a function, we need four statements:

DominatorTree DT;
LoopInfo LI;

Now we only need one statement:

Chandler Carruth aaf0b4cd57 [PM] Port LoopInfo to the new pass manager, adding both a LoopAnalysis
pass and a LoopPrinterPass with the expected associated wiring.

I've added a RUN line to the only test case (!!!) we have that actually

This is somewhat exciting as this is the first analysis using another
analysis to go in for the new pass manager. =D I also believe it is the
last analysis necessary for porting instcombine, but of course I may yet

Chandler Carruth 691addc25f [PM] Now that LoopInfo isn't in the Pass type hierarchy, it is much

Thise removes a ton of boiler plate code and somewhat strange and

logic into the generic LoopInfoBase, which seems good anyways -- it is
generic and useful logic even for the machine side.

Philip Reames 5a3f5f751b Introduce enum values for previously defined metadata types. (NFC)
Our metadata scheme lazily assigns IDs to string metadata, but we have a mechanism to preassign them as well. Using a preassigned ID is helpful since we get compile time type checking, and avoid some (minimal) string construction and comparison. This change adds enum value for three existing metadata types:
+ MD_nontemporal = 9, // "nontemporal"
+ MD_mem_parallel_loop_access = 10, // "llvm.mem.parallel_loop_access"
+ MD_nonnull = 11 // "nonnull"

I went through an updated various uses as well. I made no attempt to get all uses; I focused on the ones which were easily grepable and easily to translate. For example, there were several items in LoopInfo.cpp I chose not to update.

Chandler Carruth cdf4788401 [C++11] Add range based accessors for the Use-Def chain of a Value.
This requires a number of steps.
1) Move value_use_iterator into the Value class as an implementation
   detail
2) Change it to actually be a *Use* iterator rather than a *User*
   iterator.
3) Add an adaptor which is a User iterator that always looks through the
   Use to the User.
4) Wrap these in Value::use_iterator and Value::user_iterator typedefs.
5) Add the range adaptors as Value::uses() and Value::users().
6) Update *all* of the callers to correctly distinguish between whether
they wanted a use_iterator (and to explicitly dig out the User when
needed), or a user_iterator which makes the Use itself totally
   opaque.

Because #6 requires churning essentially everything that walked the
Use-Def chains, I went ahead and added all of the range adaptors and
switched them to range-based loops where appropriate. Also because the
renaming requires at least churning every line of code, it didn't make
any sense to split these up into multiple commits -- all of which would
touch all of the same lies of code.

The result is still not quite optimal. The Value::use_iterator is a nice
regular iterator, but Value::user_iterator is an iterator over User*s
rather than over the User objects themselves. As a consequence, it fits
a bit awkwardly into the range-based world and it has the weird
extra-dereferencing 'operator->' that so many of our iterators have.
I think this could be fixed by providing something which transforms
a range of T&s into a range of T*s, but that *can* be separated into
another patch, and it isn't yet 100% clear whether this is the right
move.

However, this change gets us most of the benefit and cleans up
a substantial amount of code around Use and User. =]

Chandler Carruth 73523021d0 [PM] Split DominatorTree into a concrete analysis result object which
can be used by both the new pass manager and the old.

This removes it from any of the virtual mess of the pass interfaces and
lets it derive cleanly from the DominatorTreeBase<> template. In turn,
tons of boilerplate interface can be nuked and it turns into a very
straightforward extension of the base DominatorTree interface.

The old analysis pass is now a simple wrapper. The names and style of
this split should match the split between CallGraph and
CallGraphWrapperPass. All of the users of DominatorTree have been
updated to match using many of the same tricks as with CallGraph. The
goal is that the common type remains the resulting DominatorTree rather
than the pass. This will make subsequent work toward the new pass
manager significantly easier.

Also in numerous places things became cleaner because I switched from
re-running the pass (!!! mid way through some other passes run!!!) to
directly recomputing the domtree.

Chandler Carruth 5ad5f15cff [cleanup] Move the Dominators.h and Verifier.h headers into the IR
directory. These passes are already defined in the IR library, and it
doesn't make any sense to have the headers in Analysis.

Long term, I think there is going to be a much better way to divide
these matters. The dominators code should be fully separated into the
abstract graph algorithm and have that put in Support where it becomes
obvious that evn Clang's CFGBlock's can use it. Then the verifier can
manually construct dominance information from the Support-driven
interface while the Analysis library can provide a pass which both
caches, reconstructs, and supports a nice update API.

But those are very long term, and so I don't want to leave the really
confusing structure until that day arrives.

Andrew Trick fb2ba3e1cb Enable the new LoopInfo algorithm by default.
The primary advantage is that loop optimizations will be applied in a
stable order. This helps debugging and unit test creation. It is also
a better overall implementation without pathologically bad performance
on deep functions.

On large functions (llvm-stress --size=200000 | opt -loops)
Before: 0.1263s
After: 0.0225s

On deep functions (after tweaking llvm-stress, thanks Nadav):
Before: 0.2281s
After: 0.0227s

See r158790 for more comments.

The loop tree is now consistently generated in forward order, but loop
passes are applied in reverse order over the program. If we have a
loop optimization that prefers forward order, that can easily be
achieved by adding a different type of LoopPassManager.

Andrew Trick ff2ed7b687 A new algorithm for computing LoopInfo. Temporarily disabled.
-stable-loops enables a new algorithm for generating the Loop
forest. It differs from the original algorithm in a few respects:

- Not determined by use-list order.
- Initially guarantees RPO order of block and subloops.
- Linear in the number of CFG edges.
- Nonrecursive.

I didn't want to change the LoopInfo API yet, so the block lists are
still inclusive. This seems strange to me, and it means that building
LoopInfo is not strictly linear, but it may not be a problem in
practice. At least the block lists start out in RPO order now. In the
future we may add an attribute or wrapper analysis that allows other
passes to assume RPO order.

The primary motivation of this work was not to optimize LoopInfo, but
to allow reproducing performance issues by decomposing the compilation
stages. I'm often unable to do this with the current LoopInfo, because
the loop tree order determines Loop pass order. Serializing the IR
tends to invert the order, which reverses the optimization order. This
makes it nearly impossible to debug interdependent loop optimizations
such as LSR.

I also believe this will provide more stable performance results across time.

An algorithm for incrementally updating LoopInfo within a
LoopPassManager. The incremental update should be extremely cheap in
most cases and can be used in places where it's not feasible to
regenerate the entire loop forest.

- "Unloop" is a node in the loop tree whose last backedge has been removed.
- Perform reverse dataflow on the block inside Unloop to propagate the
nearest loop from the block's successors.
- For reducible CFG, each block in unloop is visited exactly
once. This is because unloop no longer has a backedge and blocks
  within subloops don't change parents.
- Immediate subloops are summarized by the nearest loop reachable from
their exits or exits within nested subloops.
- At completion the unloop blocks each have a new parent loop, and
each immediate subloop has a new parent.

existing ones.

Also, optimize Loop::verifyLoop, since it gets called a lot. Use
searches on a sorted list of blocks instead of calling the "contains"
function, as is done in other places in the Loop class, since "contains"
does a linear search. Also, don't call verifyLoop from LoopSimplify or
LCSSA, as the PassManager is already calling verifyLoop as part of
LoopInfo's verifyAnalysis.
