Daniel Sanders f0df221d76 [mips] Add assembler support for '.set mipsX'.
Summary:
This patch also fixes an issue with the way the Mips assembler enables/disables architecture
features. Before this patch, the assembler never disabled feature bits. For example,
.set mips64
.set mips32r2

would result in the 'OR' of mips64 with mips32r2 feature bits which isn't right.
Unfortunately this isn't trivial to fix because there's not an easy way to clear
feature bits as the algorithm in MCSubtargetInfo (ToggleFeature) only clears the bits
that imply the feature being cleared and not the implied bits by the feature (there's a
better explanation to the code I added).

The code in the patch follows this style and rejects unpredictable M-class MSR masks also with Fail (instead of SoftFail). Saleem Abdulrasool 8988c2a524 ARM: correct handling of features in arch_extension
The subtarget information is the ultimate source of truth for the feature set
that is enabled at this point. We would previously not propagate the feature
information to the subtarget. While this worked for the most part (features
would be enabled/disabled as requested), if another operation that changed the
feature bits was encountered (such as a mode switch via a .arm or .thumb
directive), we would end up resetting the behaviour of the architectural
extensions.

Handling this properly requires a slightly more complicated handling. We need
to check if the feature is now being toggled. If so, only then do we toggle the
features. In return, we no longer have to calculate the feature bits ourselves.

The test changes are mostly to the diagnosis, which is now more uniform (a nice
side effect!). Add an additional test to ensure that we handle this case
properly.

Lang Hames f49bc3f1b1 [X86] Optimize stackmap shadows on X86.
This patch minimizes the number of nops that must be emitted on X86 to satisfy
stackmap shadow constraints.

To minimize the number of nops inserted, the X86AsmPrinter now records the
size of the most recent stackmap's shadow in the StackMapShadowTracker class,
and tracks the number of instruction bytes emitted since the that stackmap
instruction was encountered. Padding is emitted (if it is required at all)
immediately before the next stackmap/patchpoint instruction, or at the end of
the basic block.

This optimization should reduce code-size and improve performance for people
using the llvm stackmap intrinsic on X86.

Without this, we produce non-extern relocations when targeting older OS X

This means that an updated linker (ld64 from Xcode 3.2.6 or later) may be
needed when targeting such platforms with a modern version of LLVM, but this is
probably the case anyway and a reasonable requirement.

Ulrich Weigand 46797c6960 [MC] Pass MCSymbolData to needsRelocateWithSymbol
As discussed in a previous checking to support the .localentry
directive on PowerPC, we need to inspect the actual target symbol
in needsRelocateWithSymbol to make the appropriate decision based
on that symbol's st_other bits.

Currently, needsRelocateWithSymbol does not get the target symbol.
However, it is directly available to its sole caller. This patch
therefore simply extends the needsRelocateWithSymbol by a new
parameter "const MCSymbolData &SD", passes in the target symbol,
and updates all derived implementations.

In particular, in the PowerPC implementation, this patch removes
the FIXME added by the previous checkin.

2014-07-20 23:15:06 +00:00
Ulrich Weigand bb68610dc9 [PowerPC] ELFv2 MC support for .localentry directive
A second binutils feature needed to support ELFv2 is the .localentry
directive. In the ELFv2 ABI, functions may have two entry points:
one for calling the routine locally via "bl", and one for calling the
function via function pointer (either at the source level, or implicitly
via a PLT stub for global calls). The two entry points share a single
ELF symbol, where the ELF symbol address identifies the global entry
point address, while the local entry point is found by adding a delta
offset to the symbol address. That offset is encoded into three
platform-specific bits of the ELF symbol st_other field.

The .localentry directive instructs the assembler to set those fields
to encode a particular offset. This is typically used by a function
prologue sequence like this:

func:
        addis r2, r12, (.TOC.-func)@ha
        addi r2, r2, (.TOC.-func)@l
        .localentry func, .-func

Note that according to the ABI, when calling the global entry point,
r12 must be set to point the global entry point address itself; while
when calling the local entry point, r2 must be set to point to the TOC
base. The two instructions between the global and local entry point in
the above example translate the first requirement into the second.

This patch implements support in the PowerPC MC streamers to emit the
.localentry directive (both into assembler and ELF object output), as
well as support in the assembler parser to parse that directive.

In addition, there is another change required in MC fixup/relocation
handling to properly deal with relocations targeting function symbols
with two entry points: When the target function is known local, the MC
layer would immediately handle the fixup by inserting the target
address -- this is wrong, since the call may need to go to the local
entry point instead. The GNU assembler handles this case by *not*
directly resolving fixups targeting functions with two entry points,
but always emits the relocation and relies on the linker to handle
this case correctly. This patch changes LLVM MC to do the same (this
is done via the processFixupValue routine).

Similarly, there are cases where the assembler would normally emit a
relocation, but "simplify" it to a relocation targeting a *section*
instead of the actual symbol. For the same reason as above, this
may be wrong when the target symbol has two entry points. The GNU
assembler again handles this case by not performing this simplification
in that case, but leaving the relocation targeting the full symbol,
which is then resolved by the linker. This patch changes LLVM MC
to do the same (via the needsRelocateWithSymbol routine).
NOTE: The method used in this patch is overly pessimistic, since the
needsRelocateWithSymbol routine currently does not have access to the
actual target symbol, and thus must always assume that it might have
two entry points. This will be improved upon by a follow-on patch
that modifies common code to pass the target symbol when calling
needsRelocateWithSymbol.

Daniel Sanders 7f70573ed9 [mips] Correct ELF e_flags for the N32 ABI when using a mips-* triple rather than a mips64-* triple
Summary:
Generally speaking, mips-* vs mips64-* should not be used to make decisions
about the content or format of the ELF. This should be based on the ABI
and CPU in use. For example, `mips-linux-gnu-clang -mips64r2 -mabi=64`
should produce an ELF64 as should `mips64-linux-gnu-clang -mabi=64`.
Conversely, `mips64-linux-gnu-clang -mabi=n32` should produce an ELF32 as
should `mips-linux-gnu-clang -mips64r2 -mabi=n32`.

This patch fixes the e_flags but leaves the ELF32 vs ELF64 issue for now
since there is no apparent way to base this decision on the ABI and CPU.

Daniel Sanders 7e527423f5 [mips] Add support for -modd-spreg/-mno-odd-spreg
Summary:
When -mno-odd-spreg is in effect, 32-bit floating point values are not
permitted in odd FPU registers. The option also prohibits 32-bit and 64-bit
floating point comparison results from being written to odd registers.

This option has three purposes:
* It allows support for certain MIPS implementations such as loongson-3a that
do not allow the use of odd registers for single precision arithmetic.
* When using -mfpxx, -mno-odd-spreg is the default and this allows us to
statically check that code is compliant with the O32 FPXX ABI since mtc1/mfc1
instructions to/from odd registers are guaranteed not to appear for any
reason. Once this has been established, the user can then re-enable
-modd-spreg to regain the use of all 32 single-precision registers.
* When using -mfp64 and -mno-odd-spreg together, an O32 extension named
O32 FP64A is used as the ABI. This is intended to provide almost all
functionality of an FR=1 processor but can also be executed on a FR=0 core
with the assistance of a hardware compatibility mode which emulates FR=0
  behaviour on an FR=1 processor.

* Added '.module oddspreg' and '.module nooddspreg' each of which update
  the .MIPS.abiflags section appropriately
* Moved setFpABI() call inside emitDirectiveModuleFP() so that the caller
doesn't have to remember to do it.
* MipsABIFlags now calculates the flags1 and flags2 member on demand rather
than trying to maintain them in the same format they will be emitted in.

There is one portion of the -mfp64 and -mno-odd-spreg combination that is not
implemented yet. Moves to/from odd-numbered double-precision registers must not
use mtc1. I will fix this in a follow-up.

match this behaviour getRelocationSymbol should simply return symbols_end for
   scattered relocations.
2. Printing "-" when we can't get a symbol (including the scattered case, but

Saleem Abdulrasool bdbc0088da MC: adjust text section flags for WoA
Correct the section flags for code built for Windows on ARM with
`-ffunction-sections`. Windows on ARM uses solely Thumb-2 instructions, and
indicates that the function is thumb by placing it in a text section that has
IMAGE_SCN_MEM_16BIT flag set.

When we encounter a .section directive, a new section is constructed. This may
be a text segment. In order to identify that we need the additional flag,
expose the target triple through the ObjectFileInfo as this information is lost
otherwise.

Since any modern ARM targeting environment on Windows would be Thumb-2 (Windows
ARM NT or Windows Embedded Compact), introducing a new flag to indicate the
section attribute seems to be a bit overkill. Simply depend on the target
triple. Since there is one location that this information is currently needed,
creating a target specific assembly parser and delegating the parsing of section
switches also feels a bit heavy handed. If it turns out that this information
ends up changing additional behaviour, then it may be worth considering that
alternative.

Oliver Stannard f7693f4c1f Emit DWARF3 call frame information when DWARF3+ debug info is requested
Currently, llvm always emits a DWARF CIE with a version of 1, even when emitting
DWARF 3 or 4, which both support CIE version 3. This patch makes it emit the
newer CIE version when we are emitting DWARF 3 or 4. This will not reduce
compatibility, as we already emit other DWARF3/4 features, and is worth doing as
the DWARF3 spec removed some ambiguities in the interpretation of call frame
information.

It also fixes a minor bug where the "return address" field of the CIE was
encoded as a ULEB128, which is only valid when the CIE version is 3. There are
no test changes for this, because (as far as I can tell) none of the platforms
that we test have a return address register with a DWARF register number >127.

Summary:
c.cond.fmt has been replaced by cmp.cond.fmt. Where c.cond.fmt wrote to
dedicated condition registers, cmp.cond.fmt writes 1 or 0 to normal FGR's
(like the GPR comparisons).

mov[fntz] have been replaced by seleqz and selnez. These instructions
conditionally zero a register based on a bool in a GPR. The results can
then be or'd together to act as a select without, for example, requiring a third
register read port.

mov[fntz].[ds] have been replaced with sel.[ds]

MIPS64r6 currently generates unnecessary sign-extensions for most selects.
This is because the result of a SETCC is currently an i32. Bits 32-63 are
undefined in i32 and the behaviour of seleqz/selnez would otherwise depend
on undefined bits. Later, we will fix this by making the result of SETCC an
i64 on MIPS64 targets.

GAS documents the .type directive as having an optional comma following the key
symbol name when using the STT_<TYPE_IN_UPPER_CASE> form. However, it treats
the comma as optional in all cases. This makes the IAS support both forms of
inputs. Furthermore, the prefixed forms take either the upper case name or the
lower case alias.

The tests are split into two separate sets as the hash character serves as a
comment character on x86, which is tested in the second set by using arm-elf
which uses the at symbol as a comment character.

Prevent the early elimination of sections in the object writer. There may be
references to the section itself by other symbols, which may potentially not be
possible to resolve. ML (Visual Studio's Macro Assembler) also seems to retain
empty sections.

The elimination of symbols and sections which are unused should really occur at
the link phase. This will not cause any change in the resulting binary, simply
in the generated object files.

The adjustments to the other unit tests account for the fluctuating section
index caused by the appearance of sections which were previously discarded.

Rafael Espindola 0766ae08e5 Fix a few issues with comdat handling on COFF.
* Section association cannot use just the section name as many
sections can have the same name. With this patch, the comdat symbol in
an assoc section is interpreted to mean a symbol in the associated
section and the mapping is discovered from it.

* Comdat symbols were not being set correctly. Instead we were getting
whatever was output first for that section.

A consequence is that associative sections now must use .section to
set the association. Using .linkonce would not work since it is not
possible to change a sections comdat symbol (it is used to decide if
we should create a new section or reuse an existing one).

This includes r210298, which was reverted because it was asserting
on an associated section having the same comdat as the associated
section.

Rafael Espindola 942f4bc488 Correctly set the comdat symbol on COFF.
We extended the .section syntax to allow multiple sections with the
same name but different comdats, but currently we don't make sure that
the output section has that comdat symbol.

That happens to work with the code llc produces currently because it looks like

.section secName, "dr", one_only, "COMDATSym"
.globl COMDATSym
COMDATSym:
....

but that is not very friendly to anyone coding in assembly or even to
llc once we get comdat support in the IR.

This patch changes the coff object writer to make sure the comdat symbol is
output just after the section symbol, as required by the coff spec.

In an effort to fix inlined debug info in situations where the out of

essence, definition-necessary attributes like DW_AT_low_pc/high_pc will

delayed to module end where they may either be added to the subprogram

These tests can be generalized to be resilient to this change. 5 or so

reordering and will go along with the change that affects the order.

Tim Northover c350acfda5 ARM64: separate load/store operands to simplify assembler
This changes ARM64 to use separate operands for each component of an
address, and look for separate '[', '$Rn, ..., ']' tokens when

This allows us to do away with quite a bit of special C++ code to
handle monolithic "addressing modes" in the MC components. The more
incremental matching of the assembler operands also allows for better
diagnostics when LLVM is presented with invalid input.

Most of the complexity here is with the register-offset instructions,
which were extremely dodgy beforehand: even when the instruction used
wM, LLVM's model had xM as an operand. We papered over this
discrepancy before, but that approach doesn't work now so I split them
into separate X and W variants.

Summary:
This required me to implement the disassembler for MIPS64r6 since the encodings
are ambiguous with other instructions. This in turn revealed a few
assembly/disassembly bugs which I have fixed.

* da[ht]i only take two operands according to the spec, not three.
* DecodeBranchTarget2[16] correctly handles wider immediates than simm16
  * Also made non-functional change to DecodeBranchTarget and
DecodeBranchTargetMM to keep implementation style consistent between
    them.
* Difficult encodings are handled by a custom decode method on the most
general encoding in the group. This method will convert the MCInst to a
  different opcode if necessary.

DecodeBranchTarget is not currently the inverse of getBranchTargetOpValue
so disassembling some branch instructions emit incorrect output. This seems
to affect branches with delay slots on all MIPS ISA's. I've left this bug
for now and temporarily removed the check for the immediate on
bc[12]eqz/bc[12]nez in the MIPS32r6/MIPS64r6 tests.

Tim Northover 5896b066e6 TableGen: fix operand counting for aliases
TableGen has a fairly dubious heuristic to decide whether an alias should be
printed: does the alias have lest operands than the real instruction. This is
bad enough (particularly with no way to override it), but it should at least be
calculated consistently for both strings.

This patch implements that logic: first get the *correct* string for the
variant, in the same way as the Matcher, without guessing; then count the
number of whitespace chars.

There are basically 4 changes this brings about after the previous
commits; all of these appear to be good, so I have changed the tests:

+ ARM64: we print "neg X, Y" instead of "sub X, xzr, Y".
+ ARM64: we skip implicit "uxtx" and "uxtw" modifiers.
