Javier Martinez Canillas 6c9f0ce0df tpm: only attempt to disable the LPC CLKRUN if is already enabled
Commit 5e572cab92 ("tpm: Enable CLKRUN protocol for Braswell systems")
added logic in the TPM TIS driver to disable the Low Pin Count CLKRUN
signal during TPM transactions.

Unfortunately this breaks other devices that are attached to the LPC bus
like for example PS/2 mouse and keyboards.

One flaw with the logic is that it assumes that the CLKRUN is always
enabled, and so it unconditionally enables it after a TPM transaction.

But it could be that the CLKRUN# signal was already disabled in the LPC
bus and so after the driver probes, CLKRUN_EN will remain enabled which
may break other devices that are attached to the LPC bus but don't have
support for the CLKRUN protocol.

Azhar Shaikh b3e958ce4c tpm: Keep CLKRUN enabled throughout the duration of transmit_cmd()
Commit 5e572cab92 ("tpm: Enable CLKRUN protocol for Braswell
systems") disabled CLKRUN protocol during TPM transactions and re-enabled
once the transaction is completed. But there were still some corner cases
observed where, reading of TPM header failed for savestate command
while going to suspend, which resulted in suspend failure.
To fix this issue keep the CLKRUN protocol disabled for the entire
duration of a single TPM command and not disabling and re-enabling
again for every TPM transaction. For the other TPM accesses outside
TPM command flow, add a higher level of disabling and re-enabling
the CLKRUN protocol, instead of doing for every TPM transaction.

Alexander.Steffen@infineon.com 0b66f2a05a tpm2-cmd: allow more attempts for selftest execution
Previously, if the last attempt to execute the selftest command failed with
RC_TESTING, there was still a call to tpm_msleep, even though no further
attempt would be made. This causes an unnecessary delay, therefore ensure
that if the last attempt fails the function is left immediately.

Also, instead of ensuring that the cumulated runtime of all attempts is
larger than the command duration for TPM2_SelfTest, ensure that there is at
least one attempt for which the delay is larger than the expected command
duration. This allows slow TPMs to execute all their tests in the
background, without slowing down faster TPMs that have finished their tests
earlier. If tests are still not finished even with this long delay, then
something is broken and the TPM is not used.

Javier Martinez Canillas 095531f891 tpm: return a TPM_RC_COMMAND_CODE response if command is not implemented
According to the TPM Library Specification, a TPM device must do a command
header validation before processing and return a TPM_RC_COMMAND_CODE code
if the command is not implemented.

So user-space will expect to handle that response as an error. But if the
in-kernel resource manager is used (/dev/tpmrm?), an -EINVAL errno code is
returned instead if the command isn't implemented. This confuses userspace
since it doesn't expect that error value.

This also isn't consistent with the behavior when not using TPM spaces and
accessing the TPM directly (/dev/tpm?). In this case, the command is sent
to the TPM even when not implemented and the TPM responds with an error.

Instead of returning an -EINVAL errno code when the tpm_validate_command()
function fails, synthesize a TPM command response so user-space can get a
TPM_RC_COMMAND_CODE as expected when a chip doesn't implement the command.

The TPM only sets 12 of the 32 bits in the TPM_RC response, so the TSS and
TAB specifications define that higher layers in the stack should use some
of the unused 20 bits to specify from which level of the stack the error
is coming from.

Since the TPM_RC_COMMAND_CODE response code is sent by the kernel resource
manager, set the error level to the TAB/RM layer so user-space is aware of
this.

Jason Gunthorpe 6e592a065d tpm: Move Linux RNG connection to hwrng
The tpm-rng.c approach is completely inconsistent with how the kernel
handles hotplug. Instead manage a hwrng device for each TPM. This will
cause the kernel to read entropy from the TPM when it is plugged in, and

Jarkko Sakkinen aad887f664 tpm: use struct tpm_chip for tpm_chip_find_get()
Device number (the character device index) is not a stable identifier
for a TPM chip. That is the reason why every call site passes
TPM_ANY_NUM to tpm_chip_find_get().

This commit changes the API in a way that instead a struct tpm_chip

commit refines the documentation to be up to date with the

Nayna Jain 5ef924d9e2 tpm: use tpm_msleep() value as max delay

Nayna Jain cf151a9a44 tpm: reduce tpm polling delay in tpm_tis_core
The existing wait_for_tpm_stat() polls for the chip status after
5msec sleep. As per TCG ddwg input, it is expected that tpm might
return status in few usec. So, reducing the delay in polling to
1msec.
Similarly, get_burstcount() function sleeps for 5msec before
retrying for next query to burstcount in a loop. If it takes
lesser time for TPM to return, this 5msec delay is longer than
necessary.

After this change, performance on a TPM 1.2 with an 8 byte
burstcount for 1000 extends improved from ~14sec to ~9sec.

Kees Cook 22ec1a2aea /dev/mem: Add bounce buffer for copy-out
As done for /proc/kcore in

  commit df04abfd18 ("fs/proc/kcore.c: Add bounce buffer for ktext data")

this adds a bounce buffer when reading memory via /dev/mem. This
is needed to allow kernel text memory to be read out when built with
CONFIG_HARDENED_USERCOPY (which refuses to read out kernel text) and
without CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM (which would have refused to read any RAM
contents at all).

Since this build configuration isn't common (most systems with
CONFIG_HARDENED_USERCOPY also have CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM), this also tries
to inform Kconfig about the recommended settings.

This patch is modified from Brad Spengler/PaX Team's changes to /dev/mem
code in the last public patch of grsecurity/PaX based on my understanding
of the code. Changes or omissions from the original code are mine and
don't reflect the original grsecurity/PaX code.

have been in for-next for a while, each since about their creation
 date. I forgot the bugzilla reference on the second one (ipmi_si: Fix
 oops with PCI devices) so I rebased to add that.

Mikulas Patocka 51614b26a0 ipmi_si: fix crash on parisc
This patch fixes ipmi crash on parisc introduced in the kernel 4.15-rc.
The pointer io.io_setup is not initialized and thus it causes crash in
try_smi_init when attempting to call new_smi->io.io_setup.

When the IPMI PCI code was split out, some code was consolidated for
setting the io_setup field in the io structure. The PCI code needed
this set before registration to probe register spacing, though, so
restore the old code for that function.

Chris Wilson 8516673a99 agp/intel: Flush all chipset writes after updating the GGTT
Before accessing the GGTT we must flush the PTE writes and make them
visible to the chipset, or else the indirect access may end up in the
wrong page. In commit 3497971a71 ("agp/intel: Flush chipset writes
after updating a single PTE"), we noticed corruption of the uploads for
pwrite and for capturing GPU error states, but it was presumed that the
explicit calls to intel_gtt_chipset_flush() were sufficient for the
execbuffer path. However, we have not been flushing the chipset between
the PTE writes and access via the GTT itself.

For simplicity, do the flush after any PTE update rather than try and
batch the flushes on a just-in-time basis.

Masamitsu Yamazaki 4f7f5551a7 ipmi: Stop timers before cleaning up the module
System may crash after unloading ipmi_si.ko module
because a timer may remain and fire after the module cleaned up resources.

cleanup_one_si() contains the following processing.

        /*
         * Make sure that interrupts, the timer and the thread are
         * stopped and will not run again.
         */
        if (to_clean->irq_cleanup)
                to_clean->irq_cleanup(to_clean);
        wait_for_timer_and_thread(to_clean);

        /*
         * Timeouts are stopped, now make sure the interrupts are off
         * in the BMC. Note that timers and CPU interrupts are off,
         * so no need for locks.
         */
        while (to_clean->curr_msg || (to_clean->si_state != SI_NORMAL)) {
                poll(to_clean);
                schedule_timeout_uninterruptible(1);
        }

si_state changes as following in the while loop calling poll(to_clean).

  SI_GETTING_MESSAGES
    => SI_CHECKING_ENABLES
     => SI_SETTING_ENABLES
      => SI_GETTING_EVENTS
       => SI_NORMAL

As written in the code comments above,
timers are expected to stop before the polling loop and not to run again.
But the timer is set again in the following process
when si_state becomes SI_SETTING_ENABLES.

  => poll
     => smi_event_handler
       => handle_transaction_done
          // smi_info->si_state == SI_SETTING_ENABLES
         => start_getting_events
           => start_new_msg
            => smi_mod_timer
              => mod_timer

As a result, before the timer set in start_new_msg() expires,
the polling loop may see si_state becoming SI_NORMAL
and the module clean-up finishes.

For example, hard LOCKUP and panic occurred as following.
smi_timeout was called after smi_event_handler,
kcs_event and hangs at port_inb()
trying to access I/O port after release.

To fix the problem I defined a flag, timer_can_start,

Eric Biggers 9f480faec5 crypto: chacha20 - Fix keystream alignment for chacha20_block()
When chacha20_block() outputs the keystream block, it uses 'u32' stores
directly. However, the callers (crypto/chacha20_generic.c and
drivers/char/random.c) declare the keystream buffer as a 'u8' array,
which is not guaranteed to have the needed alignment.

Fix it by having both callers declare the keystream as a 'u32' array.
For now this is preferable to switching over to the unaligned access
macros because chacha20_block() is only being used in cases where we can
easily control the alignment (stack buffers).

Arnd Bergmann 9a45048408 lp: support 64-bit time_t user space
Once we get a glibc with 64-bit time_t, the LPSETTIMEOUT ioctl stops
working, since the command number and data structure no longer match.

To work around that, this introduces a new command number LPSETTIMEOUT_NEW
that is used whenever the modified user space evaluates the LPSETTIMEOUT
macro.

The trick we use is a bit convoluted but necessary: we cannot check for
any macros set by the C library in linux/lp.h, because this particular
header can be included before including sys/time.h. However, we can assume
that by the time that LPSETTIMEOUT is seen in the code, the definition
for 'timeval' and 'time_t' has been seen as well, so we can use the
sizeof() operator to determine whether we should use the old or the
new definition. We use the old one not only for traditional 32-bit user
space with 32-bit time_t, but also for all 64-bit architectures and x32,
which always use a 64-bit time_t, the new definition will be used only for
32-bit user space with 64-bit time_t, which also requires a newer kernel.

The compat_ioctl() handler now implements both commands, but has to
use a special case for existing x32 binaries. The native ioctl handler
now implements both command numbers on both 32-bit and 64-bit, though
the latter version use the same interpretation for both.

This is based on an earlier patch from Bamvor.

Kees Cook e99e88a9d2 treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.

Casting from unsigned long:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);

and forced object casts:

    void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);

become:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

Direct function assignments:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;

have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;

And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:

spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
	-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
	-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \

Kees Cook 24ed960abf treewide: Switch DEFINE_TIMER callbacks to struct timer_list *
This changes all DEFINE_TIMER() callbacks to use a struct timer_list
pointer instead of unsigned long. Since the data argument has already been
removed, none of these callbacks are using their argument currently, so
this renames the argument to "unused".

Linus Torvalds 2bf16b7a73 Char/Misc patches for 4.15-rc1
Here is the big set of char/misc and other driver subsystem patches for
 4.15-rc1.

 There are small changes all over here, hyperv driver updates, pcmcia
 driver updates, w1 driver updats, vme driver updates, nvmem driver
 updates, and lots of other little one-off driver updates as well. The
 shortlog has the full details.

 Note, there will be a merge conflict in drivers/misc/lkdtm_core.c when
 merging to your tree as one lkdtm patch came in through the perf tree as
 well as this one. The resolution is to take the const change that this
 tree provides.

 All of these have been in linux-next for quite a while with no reported
 issues.

Craig Bergstrom be62a32044 x86/mm: Limit mmap() of /dev/mem to valid physical addresses
One thing /dev/mem access APIs should verify is that there's no way
that excessively large pfn's can leak into the high bits of the
page table entry.

In particular, if people can use "very large physical page addresses"
through /dev/mem to set the bits past bit 58 - SOFTW4 and permission
key bits and NX bit, that could *really* confuse the kernel.

We had an earlier attempt:

  ce56a86e2a ("x86/mm: Limit mmap() of /dev/mem to valid physical addresses")

... which turned out to be too restrictive (breaking mem=... bootups for example) and
had to be reverted in:

  90edaac627 ("Revert "x86/mm: Limit mmap() of /dev/mem to valid physical addresses"")

This v2 attempt modifies the original patch and makes sure that mmap(/dev/mem)
limits the pfns so that it at least fits in the actual pteval_t architecturally:

 - Make sure mmap_mem() actually validates that the offset fits in phys_addr_t

    ( This may be indirectly true due to some other check, but it's not
      entirely obvious. )

 - Change valid_mmap_phys_addr_range() to just use phys_addr_valid()
   on the top byte

    ( Top byte is sufficient, because mmap_mem() has already checked that
      it cannot wrap. )

 - Add a few comments about what the valid_phys_addr_range() vs.
   valid_mmap_phys_addr_range() difference is.

Levin, Alexander (Sasha Levin) 4950276672 kmemcheck: remove annotations
Patch series "kmemcheck: kill kmemcheck", v2.

As discussed at LSF/MM, kill kmemcheck.

KASan is a replacement that is able to work without the limitation of
kmemcheck (single CPU, slow). KASan is already upstream.

We are also not aware of any users of kmemcheck (or users who don't
consider KASan as a suitable replacement).

The only objection was that since KASAN wasn't supported by all GCC
versions provided by distros at that time we should hold off for 2
years, and try again.

Now that 2 years have passed, and all distros provide gcc that supports
KASAN, kill kmemcheck again for the very same reasons.

This patch (of 4):

Remove kmemcheck annotations, and calls to kmemcheck from the kernel.

[alexander.levin@verizon.com: correctly remove kmemcheck call from dma_map_sg_attrs]

Linus Torvalds 6363b3f3ac IPMI updates for 4.15
This is signed by my new key (919BFF81), which is now signed by my
 old key.

 This is a fairly large rework of the IPMI code, along with a bunch
 of smaller fixes. The major changes have been in the next tree for
 a couple of months, so they should be good to do in.

 - Some users had IPMI systems where the GUID of the IPMI controller
   could change. So rescanning of the GUID was added. The naming of
   some sysfs things was dependent on the GUID, however, so this
   resulted in the sysfs interface code in IPMI changing to remove that
   dependency and name the IPMI BMCs like other sysfs devices.

 - The ipmi_si_intf.c code was fairly bloated with all the different
   discovery methods (PCI, ACPI, SMBIOS, OF, platform, module parameters,
   hot add). The structure of how the interfaces were added was redone
   to make them more modular, then the individual methods were pulled
   out into their own files.

Linus Torvalds 2bcc673101 Merge branch 'timers-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull timer updates from Thomas Gleixner:
 "Yet another big pile of changes:

   - More year 2038 work from Arnd slowly reaching the point where we
     need to think about the syscalls themself.

   - A new timer function which allows to conditionally (re)arm a timer
     only when it's either not running or the new expiry time is sooner
     than the armed expiry time. This allows to use a single timer for
     multiple timeout requirements w/o caring about the first expiry
     time at the call site.

   - A new NMI safe accessor to clock real time for the printk timestamp
     work. Can be used by tracing, perf as well if required.

   - A large number of timer setup conversions from Kees which got
     collected here because either maintainers requested so or they
     simply got ignored. As Kees pointed out already there are a few
     trivial merge conflicts and some redundant commits which was
     unavoidable due to the size of this conversion effort.

   - Avoid a redundant iteration in the timer wheel softirq processing.

   - Provide a mechanism to treat RTC implementations depending on their
     hardware properties, i.e. don't inflict the write at the 0.5
     seconds boundary which originates from the PC CMOS RTC to all RTCs.
     No functional change as drivers need to be updated separately.

   - The usual small updates to core code clocksource drivers. Nothing
     really exciting"

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0                                              11139

   and resulted in the first patch in this series.

   If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
   Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note                        930

   and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
   of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
   any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
   it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note                       270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                      169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause)    21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause)    17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                      15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                       14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause)    5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                       4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note                        3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT)              3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT)             1

   and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
   license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
   licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the
coccinelle script shown below and apply its output.

For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in
preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the
former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of
ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in
churn.

However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to
correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write
accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining
ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following
coccinelle script:

Alexander Steffen ee70bc1e7b tpm-dev-common: Reject too short writes
tpm_transmit() does not offer an explicit interface to indicate the number
of valid bytes in the communication buffer. Instead, it relies on the
commandSize field in the TPM header that is encoded within the buffer.
Therefore, ensure that a) enough data has been written to the buffer, so
that the commandSize field is present and b) the commandSize field does not
announce more data than has been written to the buffer.

This should have been fixed with CVE-2011-1161 long ago, but apparently
a correct version of that patch never made it into the kernel.

Alexander Steffen 125a221054 tpm: React correctly to RC_TESTING from TPM 2.0 self tests
The TPM can choose one of two ways to react to the TPM2_SelfTest command.
It can either run all self tests synchronously and then return RC_SUCCESS
once all tests were successful. Or it can choose to run the tests
asynchronously and return RC_TESTING immediately while the self tests still
execute in the background.

The previous implementation apparently was not aware of those possibilities
and attributed RC_TESTING to some prototype chips instead. With this change
the return code of TPM2_SelfTest is interpreted correctly, i.e. the self
test result is polled if and only if RC_TESTING is received.

Unfortunately, the polling cannot be done in the most straightforward way.
If RC_TESTING is received, ideally the code should now poll the
selfTestDone bit in the STS register, as this avoids sending more commands,
that might interrupt self tests executing in the background and thus
prevent them from ever completing. But it cannot be guaranteed that this
bit is correctly implemented for all devices, so the next best thing would
be to use TPM2_GetTestResult to query the test result. But the response to
that command can be very long, and the code currently lacks the
capabilities for efficient unmarshalling, so it is difficult to execute
this command.

Therefore, we simply run the TPM2_SelfTest command in a loop, which should
complete eventually, since we only request the execution of self tests that
have not yet been done.

Alexander Steffen 6b3a13173f tpm_tis_spi: Use DMA-safe memory for SPI transfers
The buffers used as tx_buf/rx_buf in a SPI transfer need to be DMA-safe.
This cannot be guaranteed for the buffers passed to tpm_tis_spi_read_bytes
and tpm_tis_spi_write_bytes. Therefore, we need to use our own DMA-safe
buffer and copy the data to/from it.

The buffer needs to be allocated separately, to ensure that it is
cacheline-aligned and not shared with other data, so that DMA can work
correctly.

Jiandi An f5357413db tpm/tpm_crb: Use start method value from ACPI table directly
This patch gets rid of dealing with intermediate flag for start method
and use start method value from ACPI table directly.

For ARM64, the locality is handled by Trust Zone in FW. The layout
does not have crb_regs_head. It is hitting the following line.
dev_warn(dev, FW_BUG "Bad ACPI memory layout");

Current code excludes CRB_FL_ACPI_START for this check. Now since
ARM64 support for TPM CRB is added, CRB_FL_CRB_SMC_START should also be
excluded from this check.

For goIdle and cmdReady where code was excluding CRB_FL_ACPI_START only
(do nothing for ACPI start method), CRB_FL_CRB_SMC_START was also
excluded as ARM64 SMC start method does not have TPM_CRB_CTRL_REQ.

However with special PPT workaround requiring CRB_FL_CRB_START to be
set in addition to CRB_FL_ACPI_START and the addition flag of SMC
start method CRB_FL_CRB_SMC_START, the code has become difficult to
maintain and undrestand. It is better to make code deal with start
method value from ACPI table directly.

Corey Minyard bb398a4cb0 ipmi_si: Change ipmi_si_add_smi() to take just I/O info
Instead of allocating the smi_info structure, filling in the I/O
info, and passing it to ipmi_si_add_smi(), just pass the I/O
info in the io structure and let ipmi_si_add_smi() allocate
the smi_info structure.

This required redoing the way the remove functions for some
device interfaces worked, a new function named
ipmi_si_remove_by_dev() allows the device to be passed in and
detected instead of using driver data, which couldn't be
filled out easily othersize.

After this the platform handling should be decoupled from the
smi_info structure and that handling can be pulled out to its
own files.

Jeremy Kerr aa9c9ab244 ipmi: allow dynamic BMC version information
Currently, it's up to the IPMI SMIs to provide the product & version
details of BMCs behind registered IPMI SMI interfaces. This device ID is
provided on SMI regsitration, and kept around for all future queries.

However, this version information isn't always static. For example, a
BMC may be upgraded at runtime, making the old version information
stale.

This change allows querying the BMC device ID & version information
dynamically. If no static device_id argument is provided to
ipmi_register_smi, then the IPMI core code will perform a Get Device ID
IPMI command to query the version information when needed. We keep a
short-term cache of this information so we don't need to re-query
for every attribute access.

Corey Minyard 68e7e50f19 ipmi: Don't use BMC product/dev ids in the BMC name
There are a lot of bad things that a set of BMCs could do that
would really confuse the IPMI driver; it's possible for BMCs with
different GUIDs to have the same product/devid (though that's
not technically legal), which would result in platform device
namespace collisions. Fixing it would involve either using
the GUID in the BMC name, which resulted in huge names, or
just using an ida for numbering the BMCs. The latter approach
was chosen to avoid the huge names.

Hamza Attak 9f3fc7bcdd tpm: replace msleep() with usleep_range() in TPM 1.2/2.0 generic drivers
The patch simply replaces all msleep function calls with usleep_range calls
in the generic drivers.

Tested with an Infineon TPM 1.2, using the generic tpm-tis module, for a
thousand PCR extends, we see results going from 1m57s unpatched to 40s
with the new patch. We obtain similar results when using the original and
patched tpm_infineon driver, which is also part of the patch.
Similarly with a STM TPM 2.0, using the CRB driver, it takes about 20ms per
extend unpatched and around 7ms with the new patch.

Note that the PCR consistency is untouched with this patch, each TPM has
been tested with 10 million extends and the aggregated PCR value is
continuously verified to be correct.

As an extension of this work, this could potentially and easily be applied
to other vendor's drivers. Still, these changes are not included in the
proposed patch as they are untested.

Linus Torvalds 44b1671fae Driver core update for 4.14-rc1
Here is the "big" driver core update for 4.14-rc1.

 It's really not all that big, the largest thing here being some firmware
 tests to help ensure that that crazy api is working properly.

 There's also a new uevent for when a driver is bound or unbound from a
 device, fixing a hole in the driver model that's been there since the
 very beginning. Many thanks to Dmitry for being persistent and pointing
 out how wrong I was about this all along :)

 Patches for the new uevents are already in the systemd tree, if people
 want to play around with them.

 Otherwise just a number of other small api changes and updates here,
 nothing major. All of these patches have been in linux-next for a
 while with no reported issues.
