It's nice to be able to test a tagging protocol with dsa_loop, but not
at the cost of losing the ability of building the tagging protocol and
switch driver as modules, because as things stand, there is a circular
dependency between the two. Tagging protocol drivers cannot depend on
switch drivers, that is a hard fact.
The reasoning behind the blamed patch was that accessing dp->priv should
first make sure that the structure behind that pointer is what we really
think it is.
Currently the "sja1105" and "sja1110" tagging protocols only operate
with the sja1105 switch driver, just like any other tagging protocol and
switch combination. The only way to mix and match them is by modifying
the code, and this applies to dsa_loop as well (by default that uses
DSA_TAG_PROTO_NONE). So while in principle there is an issue, in
practice there isn't one.
Until we extend dsa_loop to allow user space configuration, treat the
problem as a non-issue and just say that DSA ports found by tag_sja1105
are always sja1105 ports, which is in fact true. But keep the
dsa_port_is_sja1105 function so that it's easy to patch it during
testing, and rely on dead code elimination.

The problem is that DSA tagging protocols really must not depend on the
switch driver, because this creates a circular dependency at insmod
time, and the switch driver will effectively not load when the tagging
protocol driver is missing.
The code was structured in the way it was for a reason, though. The DSA
driver-facing API for PTP timestamping relies on the assumption that
two-step TX timestamps are provided by the hardware in an out-of-band
manner, typically by raising an interrupt and making that timestamp
available inside some sort of FIFO which is to be accessed over
SPI/MDIO/etc.
So the API puts .port_txtstamp into dsa_switch_ops, because it is
expected that the switch driver needs to save some state (like put the
skb into a queue until its TX timestamp arrives).
On SJA1110, TX timestamps are provided by the switch as Ethernet
packets, so this makes them be received and processed by the tagging
protocol driver. This in itself is great, because the timestamps are
full 64-bit and do not require reconstruction, and since Ethernet is the
fastest I/O method available to/from the switch, PTP timestamps arrive
very quickly, no matter how bottlenecked the SPI connection is, because
SPI interaction is not needed at all.
DSA's code structure and strict isolation between the tagging protocol
driver and the switch driver break the natural code organization.
When the tagging protocol driver receives a packet which is classified
as a metadata packet containing timestamps, it passes those timestamps
one by one to the switch driver, which then proceeds to compare them
based on the recorded timestamp ID that was generated in .port_txtstamp.
The communication between the tagging protocol and the switch driver is
done through a method exported by the switch driver, sja1110_process_meta_tstamp.
To satisfy build requirements, we force a dependency to build the
tagging protocol driver as a module when the switch driver is a module.
However, as explained in the first paragraph, that causes the circular
dependency.
To solve this, move the skb queue from struct sja1105_private :: struct
sja1105_ptp_data to struct sja1105_private :: struct sja1105_tagger_data.
The latter is a data structure for which hacks have already been put
into place to be able to create persistent storage per switch that is
accessible from the tagging protocol driver (see sja1105_setup_ports).
With the skb queue directly accessible from the tagging protocol driver,
we can now move sja1110_process_meta_tstamp into the tagging driver
itself, and avoid exporting a symbol.

Commit a0c76345e3 ("devlink: disallow reload operation during device
cleanup") added devlink_reload_{enable,disable}() APIs to prevent reload
operation from racing with device probe/dismantle.
After recent changes to move devlink_register() to the end of device
probe and devlink_unregister() to the beginning of device dismantle,
these races can no longer happen. Reload operations will be denied if
the devlink instance is unregistered and devlink_unregister() will block
until all in-flight operations are done.
Therefore, remove these devlink_reload_{enable,disable}() APIs.

Introduce new devlink call to set feature mask to control devlink
behavior during device initialization phase after devlink_alloc()
is already called.
This allows us to set reload ops based on device property which
is not known at the beginning of driver initialization.
For the sake of simplicity, this API lacks any type of locking and
needs to be called before devlink_register() to make sure that no
parallel access to the ops is possible at this stage.

Allow a user space control plane to insert entries with a new NTF_EXT_MANAGED
flag. The flag then indicates to the kernel that the neighbor entry should be
periodically probed for keeping the entry in NUD_REACHABLE state iff possible.
The use case for this is targeting XDP or tc BPF load-balancers which use
the bpf_fib_lookup() BPF helper in order to piggyback on neighbor resolution
for their backends. Given they cannot be resolved in fast-path, a control
plane inserts the L3 (without L2) entries manually into the neighbor table
and lets the kernel do the neighbor resolution either on the gateway or on
the backend directly in case the latter resides in the same L2. This avoids
to deal with L2 in the control plane and to rebuild what the kernel already
does best anyway.
NTF_EXT_MANAGED can be combined with NTF_EXT_LEARNED in order to avoid GC
eviction. The kernel then adds NTF_MANAGED flagged entries to a per-neighbor
table which gets triggered by the system work queue to periodically call
neigh_event_send() for performing the resolution. The implementation allows
migration from/to NTF_MANAGED neighbor entries, so that already existing
entries can be converted by the control plane if needed. Potentially, we could
make the interval for periodically calling neigh_event_send() configurable;
right now it's set to DELAY_PROBE_TIME which is also in line with mlxsw which
has similar driver-internal infrastructure c723c735fa ("mlxsw: spectrum_router:
Periodically update the kernel's neigh table"). In future, the latter could
possibly reuse the NTF_MANAGED neighbors as well.

Currently, all bits in struct ndmsg's ndm_flags are used up with the most
recent addition of 435f2e7cc0 ("net: bridge: add support for sticky fdb
entries"). This makes it impossible to extend the neighboring subsystem
with new NTF_* flags:

There are ndm_pad{1,2} attributes which are not used. However, due to
uncareful design, the kernel does not enforce them to be zero upon new
neighbor entry addition, and given they've been around forever, it is
not possible to reuse them today due to risk of breakage. One option to
overcome this limitation is to add a new NDA_FLAGS_EXT attribute for
extended flags.
In struct neighbour, there is a 3 byte hole between protocol and ha_lock,
which allows neigh->flags to be extended from 8 to 32 bits while still
being on the same cacheline as before. This also allows for all future
NTF_* flags being in neigh->flags rather than yet another flags field.
Unknown flags in NDA_FLAGS_EXT will be rejected by the kernel.

Currently, it is not possible to migrate a neighbor entry between NUD_PERMANENT
state and NTF_USE flag with a dynamic NUD state from a user space control plane.
Similarly, it is not possible to add/remove NTF_EXT_LEARNED flag from an existing
neighbor entry in combination with NTF_USE flag.
This is due to the latter directly calling into neigh_event_send() without any
meta data updates as happening in __neigh_update(). Thus, to enable this use
case, extend the latter with a NEIGH_UPDATE_F_USE flag where we break the
NUD_PERMANENT state in particular so that a latter neigh_event_send() is able
to re-resolve a neighbor entry.
Before fix, NUD_PERMANENT -> NUD_* & NTF_USE:

The NTF_EXT_LEARNED neigh flag is usually propagated back to user space
upon dump of the neighbor table. However, when used in combination with
NTF_USE flag this is not the case despite exempting the entry from the
garbage collector. This results in inconsistent state since entries are
typically marked in neigh->flags with NTF_EXT_LEARNED, but here they are
not. Fix it by propagating the creation flag to ___neigh_create().

Then name of this protocol changed in commit 94531cfcbe ("af_unix: Add
unix_stream_proto for sockmap") because that commit added stream support
to the af_unix protocol. Renaming the existing protocol makes a ChromeOS
protocol test[1] fail now that the name has changed in
/proc/net/protocols from "UNIX" to "UNIX-DGRAM".
Let's put the name back to how it was while keeping the stream protocol
as "UNIX-STREAM" so that the procfs interface doesn't change. This fixes
the test and maintains backwards compatibility in proc.

It was a documented fact that ds->ops->change_tag_protocol() offered
rtnetlink mutex protection to the switch driver, since there was an
ASSERT_RTNL right before the call in dsa_switch_change_tag_proto()
(initiated from sysfs).
The blamed commit introduced another call path for
ds->ops->change_tag_protocol() which does not hold the rtnl_mutex.
This is:

-> ds->ops->change_tag_protocol()

The reason why the rtnl_mutex is held in the sysfs call path is to
ensure that, once the master and all the DSA interfaces are down (which
is required so that no packets flow), they remain down during the
tagging protocol change.
The above calling order illustrates the fact that it should not be risky
to change the initial tagging protocol to the one specified in the
device tree at the given time:
- packets cannot enter the dsa_switch_rcv() packet type handler since
netdev_uses_dsa() for the master will not yet return true, since
dev->dsa_ptr has not yet been populated
- packets cannot enter the dsa_slave_xmit() function because no DSA
interface has yet been registered
So from the DSA core's perspective, holding the rtnl_mutex is indeed not
necessary.
Yet, drivers may need to do things which need rtnl_mutex protection. For
example:
felix_set_tag_protocol
-> felix_setup_tag_8021q
-> dsa_tag_8021q_register
-> dsa_tag_8021q_setup
-> dsa_tag_8021q_port_setup
-> vlan_vid_add
-> ASSERT_RTNL
These drivers do not really have a choice to take the rtnl_mutex
themselves, since in the sysfs case, the rtnl_mutex is already held.

Introduction of lockless subqueues broke the class statistics.
Before the change stats were accumulated in `bstats' and `qstats'
on the stack which was then copied to struct gnet_dump.
After the change the `bstats' and `qstats' are initialized to 0
and never updated, yet still fed to gnet_dump. The code updates
the global qdisc->cpu_bstats and qdisc->cpu_qstats instead,
clobbering them. Most likely a copy-paste error from the code in
mqprio_dump().
__gnet_stats_copy_basic() and __gnet_stats_copy_queue() accumulate
the values for per-CPU case but for global stats they overwrite
the value, so only stats from the last loop iteration / tc end up
in sch->[bq]stats.
Use the on-stack [bq]stats variables again and add the stats manually
in the global case.

Similar to commit 6087175b79 ("net: dsa: mt7530: use independent VLAN
learning on VLAN-unaware bridges"), software forwarding between an
unoffloaded LAG port (a bonding interface with an unsupported policy)
and a mv88e6xxx user port directly under a bridge is broken.
We adopt the same strategy, which is to make the standalone ports not
find any ATU entry learned on a bridge port.
Theory: the mv88e6xxx ATU is looked up by FID and MAC address. There are
as many FIDs as VIDs (4096). The FID is derived from the VID when
possible (the VTU maps a VID to a FID), with a fallback to the port
based default FID value when not (802.1Q Mode is disabled on the port,
or the classified VID isn't present in the VTU).
The mv88e6xxx driver makes the following use of FIDs and VIDs:
- the port's DefaultVID (to which untagged & pvid-tagged packets get
classified) is 0 and is absent from the VTU, so this kind of packets is
processed in FID 0, the default FID assigned by mv88e6xxx_setup_port.
- every time a bridge VLAN is created, mv88e6xxx_port_vlan_join() ->
mv88e6xxx_atu_new() associates a FID with that VID which increases
linearly starting from 1. Like this:

The FID allocation made by the driver is sub-optimal for the following
reasons:
(a) A standalone port has a DefaultPVID of 0 and a default FID of 0 too.
A VLAN-unaware bridged port has a DefaultPVID of 0 and a default FID
of 0 too. The difference is that the bridged ports may learn ATU
entries, while the standalone port has the requirement that it must
not, and must not find them either. Standalone ports must not use
the same FID as ports belonging to a bridge. All standalone ports
can use the same FID, since the ATU will never have an entry in
that FID.
(b) Multiple VLAN-unaware bridges will all use a DefaultPVID of 0 and a
default FID of 0 on all their ports. The FDBs will not be isolated
between these bridges. Every VLAN-unaware bridge must use the same
FID on all its ports, different from the FID of other bridge ports.
(c) Each bridge VLAN uses a unique FID which is useful for Independent
VLAN Learning, but the same VLAN ID on multiple VLAN-aware bridges
will result in the same FID being used by mv88e6xxx_atu_new().
The correct behavior is for VLAN 1 in br0 to have a different FID
compared to VLAN 1 in br1.
This patch cannot fix all the above. Traditionally the DSA framework did
not care about this, and the reality is that DSA core involvement is
needed for the aforementioned issues to be solved. The only thing we can
solve here is an issue which does not require API changes, and that is
issue (a), aka use a different FID for standalone ports vs ports under
VLAN-unaware bridges.
The first step is deciding what VID and FID to use for standalone ports,
and what VID and FID for bridged ports. The 0/0 pair for standalone
ports is what they used up till now, let's keep using that. For bridged
ports, there are 2 cases:
- VLAN-aware ports will never end up using the port default FID, because
packets will always be classified to a VID in the VTU or dropped
otherwise. The FID is the one associated with the VID in the VTU.
- On VLAN-unaware ports, we _could_ leave their DefaultVID (pvid) at
zero (just as in the case of standalone ports), and just change the
port's default FID from 0 to a different number (say 1).
However, Tobias points out that there is one more requirement to cater to:
cross-chip bridging. The Marvell DSA header does not carry the FID in
it, only the VID. So once a packet crosses a DSA link, if it has a VID
of zero it will get classified to the default FID of that cascade port.
Relying on a port default FID for upstream cascade ports results in
contradictions: a default FID of 0 breaks ATU isolation of bridged ports
on the downstream switch, a default FID of 1 breaks standalone ports on
the downstream switch.
So not only must standalone ports have different FIDs compared to
bridged ports, they must also have different DefaultVID values.
IEEE 802.1Q defines two reserved VID values: 0 and 4095. So we simply
choose 4095 as the DefaultVID of ports belonging to VLAN-unaware
bridges, and VID 4095 maps to FID 1.
For the xmit operation to look up the same ATU database, we need to put
VID 4095 in DSA tags sent to ports belonging to VLAN-unaware bridges
too. All shared ports are configured to map this VID to the bridging
FID, because they are members of that VLAN in the VTU. Shared ports
don't need to have 802.1QMode enabled in any way, they always parse the
VID from the DSA header, they don't need to look at the 802.1Q header.
We install VID 4095 to the VTU in mv88e6xxx_setup_port(), with the
mention that mv88e6xxx_vtu_setup() which was located right below that
call was flushing the VTU so those entries wouldn't be preserved.
So we need to relocate the VTU flushing prior to the port initialization
during ->setup(). Also note that this is why it is safe to assume that
VID 4095 will get associated with FID 1: the user ports haven't been
created, so there is no avenue for the user to create a bridge VLAN
which could otherwise race with the creation of another FID which would
otherwise use up the non-reserved FID value of 1.
[ Currently mv88e6xxx_port_vlan_join() doesn't have the option of
specifying a preferred FID, it always calls mv88e6xxx_atu_new(). ]
mv88e6xxx_port_db_load_purge() is the function to access the ATU for
FDB/MDB entries, and it used to determine the FID to use for
VLAN-unaware FDB entries (VID=0) using mv88e6xxx_port_get_fid().
But the driver only called mv88e6xxx_port_set_fid() once, during probe,
so no surprises, the port FID was always 0, the call to get_fid() was
redundant. As much as I would have wanted to not touch that code, the
logic is broken when we add a new FID which is not the port-based
default. Now the port-based default FID only corresponds to standalone
ports, and FDB/MDB entries belong to the bridging service. So while in
the future, when the DSA API will support FDB isolation, we will have to
figure out the FID based on the bridge number, for now there's a single
bridging FID, so hardcode that.
Lastly, the tagger needs to check, when it is transmitting a VLAN
untagged skb, whether it is sending it towards a bridged or a standalone
port. When we see it is bridged we assume the bridge is VLAN-unaware.
Not because it cannot be VLAN-aware but:
- if we are transmitting from a VLAN-aware bridge we are likely doing so
using TX forwarding offload. That code path guarantees that skbs have
a vlan hwaccel tag in them, so we would not enter the "else" branch
of the "if (skb->protocol == htons(ETH_P_8021Q))" condition.
- if we are transmitting on behalf of a VLAN-aware bridge but with no TX
forwarding offload (no PVT support, out of space in the PVT, whatever),
we would indeed be transmitting with VLAN 4095 instead of the bridge
device's pvid. However we would be injecting a "From CPU" frame, and
the switch won't learn from that - it only learns from "Forward" frames.
So it is inconsequential for address learning. And VLAN 4095 is
absolutely enough for the frame to exit the switch, since we never
remove that VLAN from any port.

The present code is structured this way due to an incomplete thought
process. In Documentation/networking/switchdev.rst we document that if a
bridge is VLAN-unaware, then the presence or lack of a pvid on a bridge
port (or on the bridge itself, for that matter) should not affect the
ability to receive and transmit tagged or untagged packets.
If the bridge on behalf of which we are sending this packet is
VLAN-aware, then the TX forwarding offload API ensures that the skb will
be VLAN-tagged (if the packet was sent by user space as untagged, it
will get transmitted town to the driver as tagged with the bridge
device's pvid). But if the bridge is VLAN-unaware, it may or may not be
VLAN-tagged. In fact the logic to insert the bridge's PVID came from the
idea that we should emulate what is being done in the VLAN-aware case.
But we shouldn't.
It appears that injecting packets using a VLAN ID of 0 serves the
purpose of forwarding the packets to the egress port with no VLAN tag
added or stripped by the hardware, and no filtering being performed.
So we can simply remove the superfluous logic.
One reason why this logic is broken is that when CONFIG_BRIDGE_VLAN_FILTERING=n,
we call br_vlan_get_pvid_rcu() but that returns an error and we do error
out, dropping all packets on xmit. Not really smart. This is also an
issue when the user deletes the bridge pvid:

As mentioned, in both cases, packets should still flow freely, and they
do just that on any net device where the bridge is not offloaded, but on
mv88e6xxx they don't.

The dp->bridge_num is zero-based, with -1 being the encoding for an
invalid value. But dsa_bridge_num_put used to check for an invalid value
by comparing bridge_num with 0, which is of course incorrect.
The result is that the bridge_num will never get cleared by
dsa_bridge_num_put, and further port joins to other bridges will get a
bridge_num larger than the previous one, and once all the available
bridges with TX forwarding offload supported by the hardware get
exhausted, the TX forwarding offload feature is simply disabled.
In the case of sja1105, 7 iterations of the loop below are enough to
exhaust the TX forwarding offload bits, and further bridge joins operate
without that feature.

This issue is enough of an indication that having the dp->bridge_num
invalid encoding be a negative number is prone to bugs, so this will be
changed to a one-based value, with the dp->bridge_num of zero being the
indication of no bridge. However, that is material for net-next.

__dev_get_by_name is currently used to either retrieve a net device
reference using its name or to check if a name is already used by a
registered net device (per ns). In the later case there is no need to
return a reference to a net device.
Introduce a new helper, netdev_name_in_use, to check if a name is
currently used by a registered net device without leaking a reference
the corresponding net device. This helper uses netdev_name_node_lookup
instead of __dev_get_by_name as we don't need the extra logic retrieving
a reference to the corresponding net device.

Reuse the timeval compat code from core/sock to handle 32-bit and
64-bit timeval structures. Also introduce a new socket option define
to allow using y2038 safe timeval under 32-bit.
The existing behavior of sock_set_timeout and vsock's timeout setter
differ when the time value is out of bounds. vsocks current behavior
is retained at the expense of not being able to share the full
implementation.
This allows the LTP test vsock01 to pass under 32-bit compat mode.

Due to deadlocks in the networking subsystem spotted 12 years ago[1],
a workaround was put in place[2] to avoid taking the rtnl lock when it
was not available and restarting the syscall (back to VFS, letting
userspace spin). The following construction is found a lot in the net
sysfs and sysctl code:
if (!rtnl_trylock())
return restart_syscall();
This can be problematic when multiple userspace threads use such
interfaces in a short period, making them to spin a lot. This happens
for example when adding and moving virtual interfaces: userspace
programs listening on events, such as systemd-udevd and NetworkManager,
do trigger actions reading files in sysfs. It gets worse when a lot of
virtual interfaces are created concurrently, say when creating
containers at boot time.
Returning early without hitting the above pattern when the syscall will
fail eventually does make things better. While it is not a fix for the
issue, it does ease things.

leaf classes of ETS qdiscs are served in strict priority or deficit round
robin (DRR), depending on the value of 'nstrict'. Since this value can be
changed while traffic is running, we need to be sure that the active list
of DRR classes can be updated at any time, so:
1) call INIT_LIST_HEAD(&alist) on all leaf classes in .init(), before the
first packet hits any of them.
2) ensure that 'alist' is not overwritten with zeros when a leaf class is
no more strict priority nor DRR (i.e. array elements beyond 'nbands').

of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look
up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all
the writes to it got through appropriate helpers.
There is a handful of drivers which pass netdev->dev_addr as
the destination buffer to eth_platform_get_mac_address().
Add a helper which takes a dev pointer instead, so it can call
an appropriate helper.

estimation_timer will iterate the est_list to do estimation
for each ipvs stats. When there are lots of services, the
list can be very large.
We found that estimation_timer() run for more then 200ms on a
machine with 104 CPU and 50K services.

ipvs estimation may not be needed. So adding a sysctl blob to allow

Problem is that when netns device exit hooks create the UNREGISTER
event, the .pre_exit hook for nf_tables core has already removed the
base hook. Notifier attempts to do this again.
The need to do base hook unregister unconditionally was needed in the past,
because notifier was last stage where reg->dev dereference was safe.
Now that nf_tables does the hook removal in .pre_exit, this isn't
needed anymore.

The commit 6da5b0f027 ("net: ensure unbound datagram socket to be
chosen when not in a VRF") modified compute_score() so that a device
match is always made, not just in the case of an l3mdev skb, then
increments the score also for unbound sockets. This ensures that
sockets bound to an l3mdev are never selected when not in a VRF.
But as unbound and bound sockets are now scored equally, this results
in the last opened socket being selected if there are matches in the
default VRF for an unbound socket and a socket bound to a dev that is
not an l3mdev. However, handling prior to this commit was to always
select the bound socket in this case. Reinstate this handling by
incrementing the score only for bound sockets. The required isolation
due to choosing between an unbound socket and a socket bound to an
l3mdev remains in place due to the device match always being made.
The same approach is taken for compute_score() for stream sockets.

fwnode_get_mac_address() and device_get_mac_address()
return a pointer to the buffer that was passed to them
on success or NULL on failure. None of the callers
care about the actual value, only if it's NULL or not.
These semantics differ from of_get_mac_address() which
returns an int so to avoid confusion make the device
helpers return an errno.

Add a pair of new ethtool messages, 'ETHTOOL_MSG_MODULE_SET' and
'ETHTOOL_MSG_MODULE_GET', that can be used to control transceiver
modules parameters and retrieve their status.
The first parameter to control is the power mode of the module. It is
only relevant for paged memory modules, as flat memory modules always
operate in low power mode.
When a paged memory module is in low power mode, its power consumption
is reduced to the minimum, the management interface towards the host is
available and the data path is deactivated.
User space can choose to put modules that are not currently in use in
low power mode and transition them to high power mode before putting the
associated ports administratively up. This is useful for user space that
favors reduced power consumption and lower temperatures over reduced
link up times. In QSFP-DD modules the transition from low power mode to
high power mode can take a few seconds and this transition is only
expected to get longer with future / more complex modules.
User space can control the power mode of the module via the power mode
policy attribute ('ETHTOOL_A_MODULE_POWER_MODE_POLICY'). Possible
values:
* high: Module is always in high power mode.
* auto: Module is transitioned by the host to high power mode when the
first port using it is put administratively up and to low power mode
when the last port using it is put administratively down.
The operational power mode of the module is available to user space via
the 'ETHTOOL_A_MODULE_POWER_MODE' attribute. The attribute is not
reported to user space when a module is not plugged-in.
The user API is designed to be generic enough so that it could be used
for modules with different memory maps (e.g., SFF-8636, CMIS).
The only implementation of the device driver API in this series is for a
MAC driver (mlxsw) where the module is controlled by the device's
firmware, but it is designed to be generic enough so that it could also
be used by implementations where the module is controlled by the CPU.

rtnl_fill_statsinfo() is filling skb with one mandatory if_stats_msg structure.
nlmsg_put(skb, pid, seq, type, sizeof(struct if_stats_msg), flags);
But if_nlmsg_stats_size() never considered the needed storage.
This bug did not show up because alloc_skb(X) allocates skb with
extra tailroom, because of added alignments. This could very well
be changed in the future to have deterministic behavior.

Commit 94531cfcbe ("af_unix: Add unix_stream_proto for sockmap") sets
unix domain socket peer state to TCP_CLOSE in unix_shutdown. This could
happen when the local end is shutdown but the other end is not. Then,
the other end will get read or write failures which is not expected.
Fix the issue by setting the local state to shutdown.

A packet received on a trunk will have bit 2 set in Forward DSA tagged
frame. Bit 1 can be either 0 or 1 and is otherwise undefined and bit 0
indicates the frame CFI. Masking with 7 thus results in frames as
being identified as being from a trunk when in fact they are not. Fix
the mask to just look at bit 2.

This patch anticipates the support for the IOAM insertion inside in-transit
packets, by making a difference between input and output in order to determine
the right value for its hop-limit (inherited from the IPv6 hop-limit).
Input case: happens before ip6_forward, the IPv6 hop-limit is not decremented
yet -> decrement the IOAM hop-limit to reflect the new hop inside the trace.
Output case: happens after ip6_forward, the IPv6 hop-limit has already been
decremented -> keep the same value for the IOAM hop-limit.

Currently, all packets injected into Ocelot switches are classified to
VLAN 0, regardless of whether they are VLAN-tagged or not. This is
because the switch only looks at the VLAN TCI from the DSA tag.
VLAN 0 is then stripped on egress due to REW_TAG_CFG_TAG_CFG. There are
2 cases really, below is the explanation for ocelot_port_set_native_vlan:
- Port is VLAN-aware, we set REW_TAG_CFG_TAG_CFG to 1 (egress-tag all
frames except VID 0 and the native VLAN) if a native VLAN exists, or
to 3 otherwise (tag all frames, including VID 0).
- Port is VLAN-unaware, we set REW_TAG_CFG_TAG_CFG to 0 (port tagging
disabled, classified VLAN never appears in the packet).
One can already see an inconsistency: when a native VLAN exists, VID 0
is egress-untagged, but when it doesn't, VID 0 is egress-tagged.
So when we do this:

and we ping through swp0, packets will look like this:

So VID 1 frames (sent that way by the Linux bridge) are encapsulated in
a VID 0 header - the classified VLAN of the packets as far as the hw is
concerned. To avoid that, what we really need to do is stop injecting
packets using the classified VLAN of 0.
This patch strips the VLAN header from the skb payload, if that VLAN
exists and if the port is under a VLAN-aware bridge. Then it copies that
VLAN header into the DSA injection frame header.
A positive side effect is that VCAP ES0 VLAN rewriting rules now work
for packets injected from the CPU into a port that's under a VLAN-aware
bridge, and we are able to match those packets by the VLAN ID that was
sent by the network stack, and not by VLAN ID 0.

if the device may wakeup the system or not, not that it will prevent
the to be awaken.
Also looking on how other subsystems have the entry as power/wakeup

napi_busy_loop() disables preemption and performs a NAPI poll. We can't acquire
sleeping locks with disabled preemption which would be required while
__napi_poll() invokes the callback of the driver.
A threaded interrupt performing the NAPI-poll can be preempted on PREEMPT_RT.
A RT thread on another CPU may observe NAPIF_STATE_SCHED bit set and busy-spin
until it is cleared or its spin time runs out. Given it is the task with the
highest priority it will never observe the NEED_RESCHED bit set.
In this case the time is better spent by simply sleeping.
The NET_RX_BUSY_POLL is disabled by default (the system wide sysctls for
poll/read are set to zero). Disabling NET_RX_BUSY_POLL on PREEMPT_RT to avoid
wrong locking context in case it is used.

If sd_max is unsigned, then sd_max - GSS_SEQ_WIN is a very large number
whenever sd_max is less than GSS_SEQ_WIN, and the comparison:
seq_num <= sd->sd_max - GSS_SEQ_WIN
in gss_check_seq_num is pretty much always true, even when that's
clearly not what was intended.
This was causing pynfs to hang when using krb5, because pynfs uses zero
as the initial gss sequence number. That's perfectly legal, but this
logic error causes knfsd to drop the rpc in that case. Out-of-order

Each region has an independently configurable number of maximum
snapshots. This information is not reported to userspace, making it not
very discoverable. Fix this by adding a new
DEVLINK_ATTR_REGION_MAX_SNAPSHOST attribute which is used to report this
maximum.

Jann Horn reported that SO_PEERCRED and SO_PEERGROUPS implementations
are racy, as af_unix can concurrently change sk_peer_pid and sk_peer_cred.
In order to fix this issue, this patch adds a new spinlock that needs
to be used whenever these fields are read or written.
Jann also pointed out that l2cap_sock_get_peer_pid_cb() is currently
reading sk->sk_peer_pid which makes no sense, as this field
is only possibly set by AF_UNIX sockets.
We will have to clean this in a separate patch.
This could be done by reverting b48596d1dc "Bluetooth: L2CAP: Add get_peer_pid callback"
or implementing what was truly expected.

Using snmp_get_cpu_field_batch() allows for better cpu cache
utilization, especially on hosts with large number of cpus.
Also remove special handling when mptcp mibs where not yet
allocated.
I chose to use temporary storage on the stack to keep this patch simple.
We might in the future use the storage allocated in netstat_seq_show().
Combined with prior patch (inlining snmp_get_cpu_field)
time to fetch and output mptcp counters on a 256 cpu host [1]
goes from 75 usec to 16 usec.
[1] L1 cache size is 32KB, it is not big enough to hold all dataset.

When user sets SO_RESERVE_MEM socket option, in order to utilize the
reserved memory when in memory pressure state, we adjust rcv_ssthresh
according to the available reserved memory for the socket, instead of
using 4 * advmss always.

If user sets SO_RESERVE_MEM socket option, in order to fully utilize the
reserved memory in memory pressure state on the tx path, we modify the
logic in sk_stream_moderate_sndbuf() to set sk_sndbuf according to
available reserved memory, instead of MIN_SOCK_SNDBUF, and adjust it
when new data is acked.

This socket option provides a mechanism for users to reserve a certain
amount of memory for the socket to use. When this option is set, kernel
charges the user specified amount of memory to memcg, as well as
sk_forward_alloc. This amount of memory is not reclaimable and is
available in sk_forward_alloc for this socket.
With this socket option set, the networking stack spends less cycles
doing forward alloc and reclaim, which should lead to better system
performance, with the cost of an amount of pre-allocated and
unreclaimable memory, even under memory pressure.
Note:
This socket option is only available when memory cgroup is enabled and we
require this reserved memory to be charged to the user's memcg. We hope
this could avoid mis-behaving users to abused this feature to reserve a
large amount on certain sockets and cause unfairness for others.

struct dev_addr_list is used for device addresses, unicast addresses
and multicast addresses. The first of those needs special handling
of the main address - netdev->dev_addr points directly the data
of the entry and drivers write to it freely, so we can't maintain
it in the rbtree (for now, at least, to be fixed in net-next).
Current work around sprinkles special handling of the first
address on the list throughout the code but it missed the case
where address is being added. First address will not be visible
during subsequent adds.
Syzbot found a warning where unicast addresses are modified
without holding the rtnl lock, tl;dr is that team generates
the same modification multiple times, not necessarily when
right locks are held.
In the repro we have:
macvlan -> team -> veth
macvlan adds a unicast address to the team. Team then pushes
that address down to its memebers (veths). Next something unrelated
makes team sync member addrs again, and because of the bug
the addr entries get duplicated in the veths. macvlan gets
removed, removes its addr from team which removes only one
of the duplicated addresses from veths. This removal is done
under rtnl. Next syzbot uses iptables to add a multicast addr
to team (which does not hold rtnl lock). Team syncs veth addrs,
but because veths' unicast list still has the duplicate it will
also get sync, even though this update is intended for mc addresses.
Again, uc address updates need rtnl lock, boom.

The following flower filter fails to match non-PPP_IP{V6} packets
wrapped in PPP_SES protocol:
tc filter add dev eth0 ingress protocol ppp_ses flower \
action simple sdata hi64
The reason is that proto local variable is being set even when
FLOW_DISSECT_RET_OUT_BAD status is returned.
The fix is to avoid setting proto variable if the PPP protocol is unknown.

We have a unit test that invokes an XDP program with 1m different
inputs, aka 1m BPF_PROG_RUN syscalls. We run this test concurrently
with slight variations in how we generated the input.
Since commit f23c4b3924 ("bpf: Start using the BPF dispatcher in BPF_TEST_RUN")
the unit test has slowed down significantly. Digging deeper reveals that
the concurrent tests are serialised in the kernel on the XDP dispatcher.
This is a global resource that is protected by a mutex, on which we contend.
Fix this by not calling into the XDP dispatcher if we only want to perform
a single run of the BPF program.

This moves code from hci_suspend_notifier to hci_{suspend,resume}_dev
since some driver may handle pm directly using
HCI_QUIRK_NO_SUSPEND_NOTIFIER they would instead call
hci_{suspend,resume}_dev directly and we want that to have the same
behavior regardless of where pm is being handled.

Currently, a MCTP (local-eid,remote-eid,tag) tuple is allocated to a
socket on send, and only expires when the socket is closed.
This change introduces a tag timeout, freeing the tuple after a fixed
expiry - currently six seconds. This is greater than (but close to) the
max response timeout in upper-layer bindings.

Currently, we tie the struct mctp_dev lifetime to the underlying struct
net_device, and hold/put that device as a proxy for a separate mctp_dev
refcount. This works because we're not holding any references to the
mctp_dev that are different from the netdev lifetime.
In a future change we'll break that assumption though, as we'll need to
hold mctp_dev references in a workqueue, which might live past the
netdev unregister notification.
In order to support that, this change introduces a refcount on the
mctp_dev, currently taken by the net_device->mctp_ptr reference, and
released on netdev unregister events. We can then use this for future
references that might outlast the net device.

We will want to invalidate sk_keys in a future change, which will
require a boolean flag to mark invalidated items in the socket & net
namespace lists. We'll also need to take a reference to keys, held over
non-atomic contexts, so we need a refcount on keys also.
This change adds a validity flag (currently always true) and refcount to
struct mctp_sk_key. With a refcount on the keys, using RCU no longer
makes much sense; we have exact indications on the lifetime of keys. So,
we also change the RCU list traversal to a locked implementation.

The sequence count bridge_mcast_querier::seq is protected by
net_bridge::multicast_lock but seqcount_init() does not associate the
seqcount with the lock. This leads to a warning on PREEMPT_RT because
preemption is still enabled.
Let seqcount_init() associate the seqcount with lock that protects the
write section. Remove lockdep_assert_held_once() because lockdep already checks
whether the associated lock is held.

unix_create1() returns NULL on error, and the callers assume that it never
fails for reasons other than out of memory. So, the callers always return
-ENOMEM when unix_create1() fails.
However, it also returns NULL when the number of af_unix sockets exceeds
twice the limit controlled by sysctl: fs.file-max. In this case, the
callers should return -ENFILE like alloc_empty_file().
This patch changes unix_create1() to return the correct error value instead
of NULL on error.
Out of curiosity, the assumption has been wrong since 1999 due to this
change introduced in 2.2.4 [0].

Deactivate old rule first, then append the new rule, so rule replacement
notification via netlink first reports the deletion of the old rule with
handle X in first place, then it adds the new rule (reusing the handle X
of the replaced old rule).
Note that the abort path releases the transaction that has been created
by nft_delrule() on error.

Add position handle to allow to identify the rule location from netlink
events. Otherwise, userspace cannot incrementally update a userspace
cache through monitoring events.
Skip handle dump if the rule has been either inserted (at the beginning
of the ruleset) or appended (at the end of the ruleset), the
NLM_F_APPEND netlink flag is sufficient in these two cases.
Handle NLM_F_REPLACE as NLM_F_APPEND since the rule replacement
expansion appends it after the specified rule handle.

If conntrack is builtin and kernel is booted with:
nf_conntrack.enable_hooks=1
.... kernel will fail to boot due to a NULL deref in
nf_defrag_ipv4_enable(): Its called before the ipv4 defrag initcall is
made, so net_generic() returns NULL.
To resolve this, move the user refcount back to struct net so calls
to those functions are possible even before their initcalls have run.

During system suspend, advertisement monitoring is disabled by setting
the HCI_VS_MSFT_LE_Set_Advertisement_Filter_Enable to False. This
disables the monitoring during suspend, however, if the controller is
monitoring a device, it sends HCI_VS_MSFT_LE_Monitor_Device_Event to
indicate that the monitoring has been stopped for that particular
device. This event may occur after suspend depending on the
low_threshold_timeout and peer device advertisement frequency, which
causes early wake up.
Right way to disable the monitoring for suspend is by removing all the
monitors before suspend and re-monitor after resume to ensure no events
are received during suspend. This patch fixes this suspend/resume issue.
Following tests are performed:
- Add monitors before suspend and make sure DeviceFound gets triggered
- Suspend the system and verify that all monitors are removed by kernel
but not Released by bluetoothd
- Wake up and verify that all monitors are added again and DeviceFound
gets triggered

Optimize for the aligned case by precomputing the parameter values of
the xdp_buff_xsk and xdp_buff structures in the heads array. We can do
this as the heads array size is equal to the number of chunks in the
umem for the aligned case. Then every entry in this array will reflect
a certain chunk/frame and can therefore be prepopulated with the
correct values and we can drop the use of the free_heads stack. Note
that it is not possible to allocate more buffers than what has been
allocated in the aligned case since each chunk can only contain a
single buffer.
We can unfortunately not do this in the unaligned case as one chunk
might contain multiple buffers. In this case, we keep the old scheme
of populating a heads entry every time it is used and using
the free_heads stack.
Also move xp_release() and xp_get_handle() to xsk_buff_pool.h. They
were for some reason in xsk.c even though they are buffer pool
operations.

Add a new driver interface xsk_buff_alloc_batch() offering batched
buffer allocations to improve performance. The new interface takes
three arguments: the buffer pool to allocated from, a pointer to an
array of struct xdp_buff pointers which will contain pointers to the
allocated xdp_buffs, and an unsigned integer specifying the max number
of buffers to allocate. The return value is the actual number of
buffers that the allocator managed to allocate and it will be in the
range 0 <= N <= max, where max is the third parameter to the function.

A second driver interface is also introduced that need to be used in
conjunction with xsk_buff_alloc_batch(). It is a helper that sets the
size of struct xdp_buff and is used by the NIC Rx irq routine when
receiving a packet. This helper sets the three struct members data,
data_meta, and data_end. The two first ones is in the xsk_buff_alloc()
case set in the allocation routine and data_end is set when a packet
is received in the receive irq function. This unfortunately leads to
worse performance since the xdp_buff is touched twice with a long time
period in between leading to an extra cache miss. Instead, we fill out
the xdp_buff with all 3 fields at one single point in time in the
driver, when the size of the packet is known. Hence this helper. Note
that the driver has to use this helper (or set all three fields
itself) when using xsk_buff_alloc_batch(). xsk_buff_alloc() works as
before and does not require this.

Commit 3765996e4f ("napi: fix race inside napi_enable") fixed
an ordering bug in napi_enable() and made the napi_enable() diverge
from napi_disable(). The state transitions done on disable are
not symmetric to enable.
There is no known bug in napi_disable() this is just refactoring.
Eric suggests we can also replace msleep(1) with a more opportunistic
usleep_range().

When rhashtable_init() fails, it returns -EINVAL.
However, since error return value of rhashtable_init is not checked,
it can cause use of uninitialized pointers.
So, fix unhandled errors of rhashtable_init.

When PN checking is done in mac80211, for fragmentation we need
to copy the PN to the RX struct so we can later use it to do a
comparison, since commit bf30ca922a ("mac80211: check defrag
PN against current frame").
Unfortunately, in that commit I used the 'hdr' variable without
it being necessarily valid, so use-after-free could occur if it
was necessary to reallocate (parts of) the frame.
Fix this by reloading the variable after the code that results
in the reallocations, if any.

it seems like kernel won't check the stab log value passing from

The retransmit head will be NULL in case there is no in-flight data
(meaning all data injected into network has been acked).
In that case the retransmit timer is stopped.
This is only correct if there is no more pending, not-yet-sent data.
If there is, the retransmit timer needs to set the PENDING bit again so
that mptcp tries to send the remaining (new) data once a subflow can accept
more data.
Also, mptcp_subflow_get_retrans() has to be called unconditionally.
This function checks for subflows that have become unresponsive and marks
them as stale, so in the case where the rtx queue is empty, subflows
will never be marked stale which prevents available backup subflows from
becoming eligible for transmit.

The update on recovery is not correct.
msk->tx_pending_data += msk->snd_nxt - rtx_head->data_seq;
will update tx_pending_data multiple times when a subflow is declared
stale while earlier recovery is still in progress.
This means that tx_pending_data will still be positive even after
all data as has been transmitted.
Rather than fix it, remove this field: there are no consumers.
The outstanding data byte count can be computed either via
"msk->write_seq - rtx_head->data_seq" or
"msk->write_seq - msk->snd_una".
The latter is more recent/accurate estimate as rtx_head adjustment
is deferred until mptcp lock can be acquired.
