Ville Syrjälä 095163bad5 drm/i915: Add a kludge for DSL incrementing too late and ISR not working
On pre-PCH platforms ISR doesn't seem to be an actual ISR, at least as
far as display interrupts are concerned. Instead it sort of looks like
some ISR bits just directly reflect the corresponding bit from PIPESTAT.
The bit appears in the ISR only if the PIPESTAT interrupt is enabled. So
in that sense it sort of looks a bit like the south interrupt scheme on
PCH platforms. So it goes something a bit like this:
PIPESTAT.status & PIPESTAT.enable -> ISR -> IMR -> IIR -> IER -> actual
interrupt

In any case that means the intel_pipe_in_vblank_locked() doesn't actually
work for pre-PCH platforms. As a last resort, add a similar kludge as radeon
has that fixes things up if we got called from the vblank interrupt,
but the scanline counter value indicates that we're not quite there yet.
We know that the scanline counter increments at hsync but is otherwise
accurate, so we can limit the kludge to the line just prior to vblank
start, instead of the relative distance that radeon uses.

Ville Syrjälä 8072bfa604 drm/radeon: Move the early vblank IRQ fixup to radeon_get_crtc_scanoutpos()
i915 doesn't need this kludge for most platforms. Although we do
appear to need something similar on certain platforms, but we can
be more accurate when we apply the adjustment since we know exactly
why the scanline counter doesn't always quite match the vblank
status.

Also the current code doesn't handle interlaced modes correctly,
and we already deal with interlaced modes in i915 code.

So let's just move the current code to radeon_get_crtc_scanoutpos()
since that's why it was added. For i915 we'll add a more finely
targeted variant.

Ville Syrjälä c0ae24c17e drm: Fix vblank timestamping constants for interlaced modes
We're currently miscalculating the line and pixel durations for
interlaced modes. crtc_htotal and crtc_vtotal are the full frame
timings, and so is crtc_clock, so we can compute the line
and pixel durations from those w/o any extra adjustments. But
we actually want framedur_ns to be the field, not frame, duration,
so we must divide it by two.

This should make the scanout based vblank timestamp corrections
work correctly with interlaced modes, at least for i915. It all
depends whether we keep the field or frame timings in the display
mode crtc_ timings.

Ville Syrjälä d31faf65b8 drm/i915: Fix scanoutpos calculations for interlaced modes
The scanline counter counts lines in the current field, not the entire
frame. But the crtc_ timings are the values for the entire frame. Divide
the vertical timings by 2 to make them match the scanline counter.

The rounding was carefully chosen to make it do the right thing wrt. the
observed scanline counter and ISR vblank bit behaviour.

Ville Syrjälä 3c184f6991 drm: Change {pixel,line,frame}dur_ns from s64 to int
Using s64 for the timestamping constants is wasteful. Signed 32bit
integers get us a range of over +-2 seconds. Presuming that no-one
wants to a vrefresh rate less than 0.5, we can switch to using int
for the timestamping constants. We save a few bytes in drm_crtc and
avoid a bunch of 64bit math.

Ville Syrjälä 77666b7226 drm: Use crtc_clock in drm_calc_timestamping_constants()
drm_calc_timestamping_constants() computes the pixel/line/frame
durations based on the crtc_ timing values. The corresponding pixel
clock is in mode->crtc_clock, so we need to use that instead of
mode->clock.

This should fix drm_calc_timestamping_constants() for frame packing
stereo modes.

crtc_clock is now supposed to be the actual pixel clock corresponding to
the other crtc_ timing values. Populate crtc_clock appropriately in
radeon_atom_get_tv_timings().

This was the only obvious place where we frob with the crtc_ timigns
directly instead of calling drm_mode_set_crtcinfo() which would also
update crtc_clock.

Ilia Mirkin 72de182362 drm/nouveau/mxm: fix null deref on load
Since commit 61b365a505 ("drm/nouveau: populate master subdev pointer
only when fully constructed"), the nouveau_mxm(bios) call will return
NULL, since it's still being called from the constructor.  Instead, pass
the mxm pointer via the unused data field.

Pull request for 3.14. One not so urgent fix, One huge device update.

The pull request corresponds to the patches sent out on dri-devel, except:
[PATCH 02/33], review tag typo pointed out by Matt Turner.
[PATCH 04/33], dropped. The new surface formats are never used.

The upcoming vmware svga2 hardware version 11 will introduce the concept
of "guest backed objects" or -resources. The device will in principle
get all
of its memory from the guest, which has big advantages from the device
point of view.

This means that vmwgfx contexts, shaders and surfaces need to be backed
by guest memory in the form of buffer objects called MOBs, presumably
short for MemoryOBjects, which are bound to the device in a special way.

This patch series introduces guest backed object support. Some new IOCTLs
are added to allocate these new guest backed object, and to optionally
provide
them with a backing MOB.

There is an update to the gallium driver that comes with this update, and
it will be pushed in the near timeframe presumably to a separate mesa branch
before merged to master.

Thomas Hellstrom 4b9e45e68f drm/vmwgfx: Ditch the vmw_dummy_query_bo_prepare function
Combine it with vmw_dummy_query_bo_create, and also make sure
we use tryreserve when reserving the bo to avoid any lockdep warnings
We are sure the tryreserve will always succeed since we are
the only users at that point.
In addition, allow the vmw_bo_pin function to pin/unpin system memory.

Zack Rusin 15c6f65623 drm/vmwgfx: Make sure that the multisampling is off
By default SVGA device creates nonmaskable multisampling surfaces, in
which case multisampleCount of 1 means: the first quality setting
of nonmaskable multisampling surface. Lets change it to make sure
that the backends know that multisampling is really off.

Thomas Hellstrom 0d00c488f3 drm/vmwgfx: Fix the driver for large dma addresses
With dma compliance / IOMMU support added to the driver in kernel 3.13,
the dma addresses can exceed 44 bits, which is what we support in
32-bit mode and with GMR1.
So in 32-bit mode and optionally in 64-bit mode, restrict the dma
addresses to 44 bits, and strip the old GMR1 code.

Daniel Vetter 0d9d349d87 Merge commit origin/master into drm-intel-next
Conflicts are getting out of hand, and now we have to shuffle even
more in -next which was also shuffled in -fixes (the call for
drm_mode_config_reset needs to move yet again).

So do a proper backmerge. I wanted to wait with this for the 3.13

When a panel advertises one or more modes, they are used exclusively.
Other methods for obtaining the mode, such as DDC as used for HDMI or

Thierry Reding 456ac56b7d drm/tegra: Fix possible CRTC mask for RGB outputs
The mask of possible CRTCs that an output (DRM encoder) can be attached
to is relative to the position within the DRM device's list of CRTCs.
Deferred probing can cause this to not match the pipe number associated
with a CRTC. Use the newly introduced drm_crtc_mask() to compute the
mask by looking up the proper index of the given CRTC in the list.

Russell King db5f7a6e78 drm: provide a helper for the encoder possible_crtcs mask
The encoder possible_crtcs mask identifies which CRTCs can be bound to
a particular encoder.  Each bit from bit 0 defines an index in the list
of CRTCs held in the DRM mode_config crtc_list.  Rather than having
drivers trying to track the position of their CRTCs in the list, expose
the code which already exists for calculating the appropriate mask bit
for a CRTC.

This reverts commit 3fbd6439e4.

This caused some strange booting lockup issues on an Intel G33
belonging to Daniel Vetter, very unusual, I was hoping Daniel
would track this down, but it looks like instead I'll have to hack
a different fix for -next.

Daniel Vetter b04a590623 drm: store the gem vma offset manager in a typed pointer
This was hidden in a generic void * dev->mm_private. But only ever
used for gem. But thanks to this fake generic pretension no one
noticed that Rob's drm drivers are now all broken.

So just give the offset manager a type pointer and fix up msm, omapdrm
and tilcdc.

Jesse Barnes 09f2344d08 drm/i915/bdw: make sure south port interrupts are enabled properly v2
We were apparently relying on the defaults on BDW, which resulted in no
hotplug or AUX interrupts.  So be sure to call the ibx_irq_preinstall to
enable all interrupts.

Chris Wilson 8b5565b878 drm/i915: Only complain about a rogue hotplug IRQ after disabling
Disabling the hotplug IRQ is a two-step process. First, inside the IRQ
handler we mark the rogue hotplug pin for disabling. Then later in the
hotplug worker, we actually disable the hotplug pin. So we should not
WARN about the rogue hotplug IRQ being sent until after we have
completed disabling the pin.

Ville Syrjälä dc9e7decf1 drm/i915: No panel fitter on 830M or non-mobile gen2/3 platforms
PFIT_CONTROL doesn't exist on 830M, so avoid reading it in
i9xx_get_pfit_config().

Also assume that only mobile gen2/3 chipsets have a panel fitter. This
matches the documentation, but I didn't have real hardware to verify.

Gen4 docmentation is a bit inconsistent, but experimenetation on my
LPT machine suggests that the panel fitter is available on non-mobile
gen4 platforms. At least on this machine panel fitter appears works
just fine even on VGA output.

Imre Deak e5cbfbfb2e drm/i915: vlv: W/a for hotplug/manual VGA detection
VGA detection requires the reference clock to be on, so make sure this
is the case.

This fixes VGA hotplug/manual detection where all pipes are off and so
we would normally disable all clocks.

Imre Deak 404faabc3f drm/i915: vlv: make CRI clock enabling explicit during resume
intel_init_dpio() isn't called during resume, so we won't set the CRI
clock enable bit during that time. Move the enabling to
intel_reset_dpio() instead.

Note that the HW reset value for this bit is 1, so probably this patch
won't make any difference. We should still make the setting explicit,
since BIOS could change things under us.

Paulo Zanoni 5a65f3582e drm/i915: don't set modes for 2 connectors on the same encoder
In some cases we have more than 1 connector associated to an encoder
(e.g., SDVO, Haswell DP/HDMI) and we can only set a mode for one of
these connectors. If we only allowed modesets for connected connectors
we would never need this patch, but since we do allow modeset for
disconnected connectors we may see user space trying to set modes on
the two connectors attached to the same encoder, so we need to forbid
that.

This problem can be reproduced by running the following
intel-gpu-tools test case:
  ./kms_setmode --run-subtest clone-exclusive-crtc

Daniel Vetter feb56b9344 drm/i915: i830M has watermarks like i855
So shuffle the checks around a bit. Also give all the structs and
functions proper prefixes: i830_ for the dual-pipe mobile platforms
and i845_ for the two single-pipe desktop platforms.

Note that the max fifo value isn't actually correct for the i830M, but
since we don't frob the fifo split we don't actually need it. This is
different for some gen3 devices where we need the full fifo for self
refresh mode.

Looks like 830M doesn't quite like it when you try to move a plane from
one pipe to another. It seems that the plane's old pipe has to be active
even if the plane is already disabled, otherwise the relevant register
just won't accept new values.

caused a regression on 830M. It will attempt to swap the planes when the
driver is loaded, but at that time only pipe A might be active, so plane
A gets disabled, but plane B won't get enabled since pipe B is not
active when we try to move the plane over to pipe A.

There's no reason to swap planes on 830M since it doesn't support
FBC. Change the logic a bit to limit the plane swapping to platforms
which actually support FBC. This should avoid getting a black screen on
830M.

Ville Syrjälä 7ad228b11e drm/i915: Don't grab crtc mutexes in intel_modeset_gem_init()
When the pipe A force quirk is applied the code will attempt to grab
a crtc mutex during intel_modeset_setup_hw_state(). If we're already
holding all crtc mutexes this will obviously deadlock every time.

So instead of using drm_modeset_lock_all() just grab the
mode_config.mutex. This is enough to avoid the unlocked mutex warnings
from certain lower level functions.

differences in initial configuration plus setting OCMEM base.
Userspace support is already in upstream mesa.

Note that the existing DT code is simply using the bindings from
downstream android kernel, to simplify porting of this driver to
existing devices.  These do not constitute any committed/stable
DT ABI.  The addition of proper DT bindings will be a subsequent
patch, at which point (as best as possible) I will try to support
either upstream bindings or what is found in downstream android
kernel, so that existing device DT files can be used.

Add support for the new MDP5 display controller block.  The mapping
between parts of the display controller and KMS is:

  plane   -> PIPE{RGBn,VIGn}             \
  crtc    -> LM (layer mixer)            |-> MDP "device"
  encoder -> INTF                        /
  connector -> HDMI/DSI/eDP/etc          --> other device(s)

Unlike MDP4, it appears we can get by with a single encoder, rather
than needing a different implementation for DTV, DSI, etc.  (Ie. the
register interface is same, just different bases.)

Also unlike MDP4, all the IRQs for other blocks (HDMI, DSI, etc) are
routed through MDP.

And finally, MDP5 has this "Shared Memory Pool" (called "SMP"), from
which blocks need to be allocated to the active pipes based on fetch
stride.

Rob Clark dada25bd22 drm/msm: add hdmi support for apq8x74/mdp5
The HDMI block is basically the same between older SoC's with mdp4
display controller, and newer ones with mdp5.

So mostly this consists of better abstracting out the different sets of
regulators, clks, etc.  In particular, for regulators and clks we can
split it up by what is needed for hot plug detect to work, and what is
needed to light up the display.

Also, 8x74 has a new phy.. a very simple one, but split out into a
different mmio space.  And with mdp5, the irq is shared with mdp, so we
don't directly register our own irq handler.

Rob Clark 871d812aa4 drm/msm: add support for non-IOMMU systems
Add a VRAM carveout that is used for systems which do not have an IOMMU.

The VRAM carveout uses CMA.  The arch code must setup a CMA pool for the
device (preferrably in highmem.. a 256m-512m VRAM pool in lowmem is not
cool).  The user can configure the VRAM pool size using msm.vram module
param.

Technically, the abstraction of IOMMU behind msm_mmu is not strictly
needed, but it simplifies the GEM code a bit, and will be useful later
when I add support for a2xx devices with GPUMMU, so I decided to keep
this part.

It appears to be possible to configure the GPU to restrict access to
addresses within the VRAM pool, but this is not done yet.  So for now
the GPU will refuse to load if there is no sort of mmu.  Once address
based limits are supported and tested to confirm that we aren't giving
the GPU access to arbitrary memory, this restriction can be lifted

Archit Taneja 80e4ed5411 drm/omap: fix: change dev_unload order
The current dev_unload order uninits the irqs too early.

In the current sequence, it's possible that a crtc queues work(apply_worker)
to display a buffer, which registers to omap_crtc_apply_irq to notfiy the
completion of the configuration we applied.

Calling drm_vblank_cleanup and omap_drm_irq_uninstall here causes the crtc's
apply handler to never get called, which results in an incorrect state of the
apply_irq.registered parameter.

This condition occurs where there is no mode set via omapdrm, and dev_lastclose
tries to set a default fb mode via drm_fb_helper_restore_fbdev_mode. The apply
work scheduled by restore_fbdev_mode is very close in time to the disabling of
the irq handler, and hence leads to a race condition. We move the irq cleanup
at the end of the unload sequence to prevent this.

Also, the call to flush_workqueue is removed since it's called internally by
destroy_workqueue.

Archit Taneja ec72a81e27 drm/omap: fix: disable encoder before destroying it
Currently, an encoder is disabled only when an apply work is queued for the
corresponding crtc. This works fine for the paths where userspace explicitly
disables crtc, this results in disabling the omapdss device in the crtc's
pre_apply function.

However, when the omapdrm module is removed, there is no work queued to ensure
that the encoder is disabled. This can result in an enabled omapdss device when
removing omapdrm. omapdss is left in an inconsistent state, and that prevents us
from using that omapdss device being used again.

Disable enabled encoders in omap_encoder_destroy, we could consider a better
place for doing this later.

At omapdrm probe, we install manager ops and connect omapdss devices. This
needs to be undone when omapdrm module is removed so that omapdss is in a
clean state. This ensures that we can re-insert omapdrm module, or some other
module which uses omapdss(like omapfb/omap_vout).

Currently, omapdrm's remove neither uninstalls manager ops, or disconnects
omapdss devices. We make sure that this is done in pdev_remove.

omapdrm establishes connections for omap_dss_device devices when probed. It
should also be responsible to disconnect the devices. Keeping the devices
connected can prevent the panel driver modules from unloading, it also causes
issues when we try to remove or re-insert omapdrm module.

Archit Taneja 3a01ab2556 drm/omap: fix: Defer probe if an omapdss device requests for it at connect
With the omapdss device model changes. omapdrm is required to call dssdriver's
connect() op to register a panel. This is currently done in omap_modeset_init()

A call to connect() can fail if the omapdss panels or the encoders(HDMI/DPI)
they connect to have some resource(like regulators, I2C adapter) missing. If
this happens, the correct approach is to defer omapdrm's probe.

omapdrm currently ignores those panels which return a non zero value when
connected. This could result in omapdrm ignoring all panels on an omap board.

The right approach would be for omapdrm to request for probe deferral when a
panel's connect op returns -EPROBE_DEFER.

In order to do this, we need to call connect() much earlier during omapdrm's
probe to prevent too many things are already done by then. We now connect the
panels during pdev_probe(), before anything else is initialized, so that we
don't need to undo too many things if a defer was requested.

Now when we enter omap_modeset_init(), we have a set of panels that have been
connected. We now proceed with registering only those panels that are already
connected.

A special case has to be considered when no panels are available to connect when
omapdrm probes. In this case too, we defer probe and expect that a panel will be
available to connect the next time.

Checking whether the panel has a driver or whether it has get_timing/read_edid
ops in omap_modeset_init() are redundant with the new display model. These can
be removed since a dssdev device will always have a driver associated with it,
and all dssdev drivers have a get_timings op.

This will mainly fix cases when omapdrm is built-in the kernel, since that's
generally where resources like regulators or I2C are unavailable because of
probe order dependencies.

In particular this fixes boot with omapdrm built-in on an omap4 panda ES board.
The regulators used by HDMI(provided by I2C based TWL regulators) aren't
initialized because I2C isn't initialized, I2C isn't initialized as it's pins
are not configured because pinctrl is yet to probe.

Tomi Valkeinen 6da9f89172 drm/omap: fix (un)registering irqs inside an irq handler
omapdrm (un)registers irqs inside an irq handler. The problem is that
the (un)register function uses dispc_runtime_get/put() to enable the
clocks, and those functions are not irq safe by default.

This was kind of fixed in 48664b21ae
(OMAPDSS: DISPC: set irq_safe for runtime PM), which makes dispc's
runtime calls irq-safe.

However, using pm_runtime_irq_safe in dispc makes the parent of dispc,
dss, always enabled, effectively preventing PM for the whole DSS module.

This patch makes omapdrm behave better by adding new irq (un)register
functions that do not use dispc_runtime_get/put, and using those
functions in interrupt context. Thus we can make dispc again
non-irq-safe, allowing proper PM.

Paulo Zanoni 89eff4bea7 drm/i915: fix wrong PLL debug messages.
LPT does have PCH refclk, but it's different form the IBX/CPT/PPT one
and doesn't use the same structs. It is wrong to have a message saying
that "LPT does not has PCH refclk" (sic). While at it, signal that we
only want this function on IBX/CPT/PPT by renaming it and adding a
WARN.

On HSW we also print "0 shared PLLs initialized", but we *do* have
shared PLLs on HSW (LCPLL, WRPLL, SPLL) and we *do* initialize them.
We just don't use "struct intel_shared_dpll". So remove the debug
message.

In the future we may want to rename all that "intel shared pll" code
to "ibx shared pll", but I'll leave this to another patch.

    drm/i915: use crtc_htotal in watermark calculations to match fastboot v2

It's needed for ILK+ platforms to fastboot without crashing on a divide
by 0 after a DPMS on action.

Note: Ville mentioned in his review that this confusion seems to go
down to the original introduction of this code in

Thomas Hellstrom 05efb1abec drm/ttm: ttm object security fixes for render nodes
When a client looks up a ttm object, don't look it up through the device hash
table, but rather from the file hash table. That makes sure that the client
has indeed put a reference on the object, or in gem terms, has opened
the object; either using prime or using the global "name".

To avoid a performance loss, make sure the file hash table entries can be
looked up from under an RCU lock, and as a consequence, replace the rwlock
with a spinlock, since we never need to take it in read mode only anymore.

Finally add a ttm object lookup function for the device hash table, that is
intended to be used when we put a ref object on a base object or, in  gem terms,
when we open the object.

Thomas Hellstrom 667a50db04 drm/ttm: Refuse to fault (prime-) imported pages
This is illegal for at least two reasons:

1) While it may work on some platforms / iommus, obtaining page pointers from
mapped sg-lists is illegal, since the DMA API allows page pointer information
to be destroyed in the sg mapping process.

2) TTM has no way of determining the linear kernel map caching state of the
underlying pages. PTEs with conflicting caching state pointing to the same
pfn is not allowed.

TTM operations touching pages of imported sg-tables should be redirected through
the proper dma-buf operations.

Thomas Hellstrom 7dfe8b6187 drm/ttm: Use VM_PFNMAP for shared bo maps
VM_PFNMAP is faster than VM_MIXEDMAP due to reduced page administration so
use it for shared maps where we don't have any Copy-On-Write pages. For
private maps, we continue to use VM_MIXEDMAP.

Jesse Barnes 0637d60d1a drm/i915: fix fastboot pfit disable hack to update pipe w/h
When fastbooting, we read out the pipe timings early on, and then in a
panel fitted config, disable the fitter later.  But we weren't updating
the pipe src h/w, which meant the mouse cursor was clipped to the
pfitted size rather than the native size set later.  Fix that up so the
cursor is visible in the new mode.

Ilia Mirkin 5d2f4767c4 drm/nouveau/bios: fix offset calculation for BMPv1 bioses
The only BIOS on record that needs the 14 offset has a bios major
version 2 but BMP version 1.01. Another bunch of BIOSes that need the 18
offset have BMP version 2.01 or 5.01 or higher. So instead of looking at the
bios major version, look at the BMP version. BIOSes with BMP version 0
do not contain a detectable script, so always return 0 for them.

Paulo Zanoni 38cc1daf0c drm/i915: avoid unclaimed registers when capturing the error state
We're iterating over the CPU transcoders, so check for the correct
power domain.

This fixes many "unclaimed register" error messages.

This can be reproduced by the IGT test mentioned below, but we still
get a FAIL when we run it.

Chris Wilson 304d695c3d drm/i915: Flush outstanding requests before allocating new seqno
In very rare cases (such as a memory failure stress test) it is possible
to fill the entire ring without emitting a request. Under this
circumstance, the outstanding request is flushed and waited upon. After
space on the ring is cleared, we return to emitting the new command -
except that we just cleared the seqno allocated for this operation and
trigger the sanity check that a request is only ever emitted with a
valid seqno. The fix is to rearrange the code to make sure the
allocation of the seqno for this operation is after any required flushes
of outstanding operations.

The bug exists since the preallocation was introduced in

Tetsuo Handa 3ec2f427e6 drm/i915: Fix refcount leak and possible NULL pointerdereference.
Since get_pid_task() grabs a reference on the task_struct, we have to drop the
refcount after reading that task's comm name. Use pid_task() with RCU instead.

Also, avoid directly reading like pid_task()->comm because
pid_task() will return NULL if the task have already exit()ed.

This patch fixes both problems.

The changes in the ACPI-based PCI hotplug (ACPIPHP) subsystem made
during the 3.12 development cycle uncovered a problem with VGA
switcheroo that on some systems, when the device-specific method
(ATPX in the radeon case, _DSM in the nouveau case) is used to turn
off the discrete graphics, the BIOS generates ACPI hotplug events for
that device and those events cause ACPIPHP to attempt to remove the
device from the system (they are events for a device that was present
previously and is not present any more, so that's what should be done
according to the spec).  Then, the system stops functioning correctly.

Since the hotplug events in question were simply silently ignored
previously, the least intrusive way to address that problem is to
make ACPIPHP ignore them again.  For this purpose, introduce a new
ACPI device flag, no_hotplug, and modify ACPIPHP to ignore hotplug
events for PCI devices whose ACPI companions have that flag set.
Next, make the radeon and nouveau switcheroo detection code set the
no_hotplug flag for the discrete graphics' ACPI companion.

Alex Deucher ea31bf697d drm/radeon: remove generic rptr/wptr functions (v2)
Fill in asic family specific versions rather than
using the generic version.  This lets us handle asic
specific differences more easily.  In this case, we
disable sw swapping of the rtpr writeback value on
r6xx+ since the hw does it for us.  Fixes bogus
rptr readback on BE systems.

Alex Deucher 6c7bccea39 drm/radeon/pm: move pm handling into the asic specific code
We need more control over the ordering of dpm init with
respect to the rest of the asic.  Specifically, the SMC
has to be initialized before the rlc and cg/pg.  The pm
code currently initializes late in the driver, but we need
it to happen much earlier so move pm handling into the asic
specific callbacks.

This makes dpm more reliable and makes clockgating work
properly on CIK parts and should help on SI parts as well.

Marek Olšák 9fadb352ed drm/radeon: fix render backend setup for SI and CIK
Only the render backends of the first shader engine were enabled. The others
were erroneously disabled. Enabling the other render backends improves
performance a lot.

Unigine Sanctuary on Bonaire:
  Before: 15 fps
  After:  90 fps

Judging from the fan noise, the GPU was also underclocked when the other
render backends were disabled, resulting in horrible performance. The fan is
a lot noisy under load now.

Thierry Reding 60c2f709d9 drm/tegra: Make legacy fbdev support optional
A lot of the modern userspace is capable of working without the legacy
fbdev support. kmscon can be used as a replacement for the framebuffer
console, and KMS X drivers create their own framebuffers.

Most people don't have a system where all of this works yet, though, so
leave support enabled by default.

Thierry Reding b5190022f7 drm/tegra: Disable outputs for power-saving
When an output is disabled, its DPMS mode is usually set to off. Instead
of only disabling the panel (if one is attached), turn the output off
entirely to save more power.

HDMI doesn't have any panels attached, so it previously didn't save any
power at all. With this commit, however, the complete HDMI interface
will be turned off, therefore allowing an attached monitor to go into a
standby mode.

Paul Walmsley 23a0e27aac gpu: host1x: clk_round_rate() can return a zero upon error
Treat both negative and zero return values from clk_round_rate() as
errors.  This is needed since subsequent patches will convert
clk_round_rate()'s return value to be an unsigned type, rather than a
signed type, since some clock sources can generate rates higher than
(2^31)-1 Hz.

Eventually, when calling clk_round_rate(), only a return value of zero
will be considered a error.  All other values will be considered valid
rates.  The comparison against values less than 0 is kept to preserve
the correct behavior in the meantime.

When debugfs support isn't enabled, gcc complains about some variables
being unused. To avoid further #ifdefery, move debugfs specific setup
code into static functions and use IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_DEBUG_FS) to have
the compiler, rather than the preprocessor, discard them when unused.
The advantage of doing it this way is that all the code will be
compile-tested whether or not debugfs support is enabled.

Daniel Vetter d8ccba8663 drm/i915: grab a pages pin count for preallocate stolen
But only when we indeed set up a gtt mapping. We need this since the
vma also holds a pages_pin_count, on top of the unconditional
pages_pin_count we grab for all stolen objects (to avoid swap-out).

This should avoid a pages_pin_count underrun when cleaning up
framebuffers objects taken over from the BIOS.

Chris mentioned in his review that this bug even predates the vma
conversion.

This is just used for a debugfs file, and we can easily reconstruct
this number by just walking the list twice. Which isn't really bad for
a debugfs file anyway.

So let's rip this out.

There's the other issue that the dev->vmalist itself is a bit useless,
since that can be reconstructed with all the memory mapping
information from proc. But remove that is a different topic entirely.

Daniel Vetter 8a5a80081a drm: remove global_mutex locking around agp_init
David Herrmann dutifully moved this locking along when moving the
agp_init call out of the generic drm_dev_register into the pci
specific load helpers.

But afaict there's no need and the reason for that locking has been
purely a historical accident - we need the lock around the driver dev
node registration to paper over the midlayer init races, and the agp
init simply ended up in there. The real fix for all this is of course
to delay the dev (and sysfs/debugfs) interface registration until
everything is fully set up.

Until then stop the cargo-cult locking from spreading and remove the
locking.

Daniel Vetter 2c695fa044 drm: remove agp_init() bus callback
The PCI bus helper is the only user of it. Call it directly before
device-registration to get rid of the callback.

Note that all drm_agp_*() calls are locked with the drm-global-mutex so we
need to explicitly lock it during initialization. It's not really clear
why it's needed, but lets be safe.

Daniel Vetter d9906753bb drm: rip out drm_core_has_AGP
Most place actually want to just check for dev->agp (most do, but a
few don't so this fixes a few potential NULL derefs). The only
exception is the agp init code which should check for the AGP driver
feature flag.

Daniel Vetter 24986ee069 drm: kill DRIVER_REQUIRE_AGP
Only the two intel drivers need this and they can easily check for
working agp support in their driver ->load callbacks.

This is the only reason why agp initialization could fail, so allows
us to rip out a bit of error handling code in the next patch.

Wei Yongjun 5ec467a803 drm/rcar-du: Fix return value check in rcar_du_lvdsenc_get_resources()
In case of error, the function devm_ioremap_resource() returns ERR_PTR()
and never returns NULL. The NULL test in the return value check should be
replaced with IS_ERR(). Also remove the dev_err call to avoid redundant
error message.

Thierry Reding 6b27f7f0e9 drm/dp: Use AUX constants from specification
The current values seem to be defined in a format that's specific to the
i915, gma500 and radeon drivers. To make this more generally useful, use
the values as defined in the specification.

While at it, prefix the constants with DP_ for improved namespacing.

Daniel Vetter 05f51722a1 drm/bufs: remove handling of _DRM_GEM mappings
Gone with the new gem vma offset manager from David.

We can also ditch the uapi header definition from the enum since
userspace never used this. It ended up in there purely for historical
reasons (for reusing the old drm mmap code essentially), not because
userspace ever needed it.
