We often need to figure out what operations were performed in response
to an error or availability event. The operations are easily accessible
in s390dbf/pci_msg but the events have to be correlated with these from
either the kernel log or s390dbf/pci_err. Improve this situation by
logging the most important data from error and availability events that
is the FID, PEC and FH together with the operations.

Since commit 8256adda1f ("s390/pci: handle FH state mismatch only on
disable") zpci_disable_device() returns -EINVAL when the platform
detects an attempt to disable a PCI function that it sees as already
disabled.
In most situations we want to abort whenever this happens and abort is
possible since it either means that the device vanished but we haven't
gotten an availability event yet, or the FH got out of sync which should
not happen.
Unfortunately there is an inconsistency between the LPAR and z/VM
hypervisors on whether error events for PCI functions contain an
an enabled or a general handle. So under z/VM it can happen that our
most up to date function handle is enabled but trying to disable the
function results in the aforementioned error.
Since recover is designed to be used to recover functions from the error
state let's make it robust to this inconsistency by explicitly treating
it as a successful disable.

Since commit 2a671f77ee ("s390/pci: fix use after free of zpci_dev")
the reference count of a zpci_dev is incremented between
pcibios_add_device() and pcibios_release_device() which was supposed to
prevent the zpci_dev from being freed while the common PCI code has
access to it. It was missed however that the handling of zPCI
availability events assumed that once zpci_zdev_put() was called no
later availability event would still see the device. With the previously
mentioned commit however this assumption no longer holds and we must
make sure that we only drop the initial long-lived reference the zPCI
subsystem holds exactly once.
Do so by introducing a zpci_device_reserved() function that handles when
a device is reserved. Here we make sure the zpci_dev will not be
considered for further events by removing it from the zpci_list.
This also means that the device actually stays in the
ZPCI_FN_STATE_RESERVED state between the time we know it has been
reserved and the final reference going away. We thus need to consider it
a real state instead of just a conceptual state after the removal. The
final cleanup of PCI resources, removal from zbus, and destruction of
the IOMMU stays in zpci_release_device() to make sure holders of the
reference do see valid data until the release.

The core functions of string.c are those that may be implemented by
per-architecture functions, or overloaded by FORTIFY_SOURCE. As a
result, it needs to be built with __NO_FORTIFY. Without this, macros
will collide with function declarations. This was accidentally working
due to -ffreestanding (on some architectures). Make this deterministic
by explicitly setting __NO_FORTIFY and move all the helper functions
into string_helpers.c so that they gain the fortification coverage they
had been missing.

Read vcpu->vcpu_idx directly instead of bouncing through the one-line
wrapper, kvm_vcpu_get_idx(), and drop the wrapper. The wrapper is a
remnant of the original implementation and serves no purpose; remove it
before it gains more users.
Back when kvm_vcpu_get_idx() was added by commit 497d72d80a ("KVM: Add
kvm_vcpu_get_idx to get vcpu index in kvm->vcpus"), the implementation
was more than just a simple wrapper as vcpu->vcpu_idx did not exist and
retrieving the index meant walking over the vCPU array to find the given
vCPU.
When vcpu_idx was introduced by commit 8750e72a79 ("KVM: remember
position in kvm->vcpus array"), the helper was left behind, likely to
avoid extra thrash (but even then there were only two users, the original
arm usage having been removed at some point in the past).
No functional change intended.

Commit 0b9902c1fc ("s390/qeth: fix deadlock during recovery") removed
taking discipline_mutex inside qeth_do_reset(), fixing potential
deadlocks. An error path was missed though, that still takes
discipline_mutex and thus has the original deadlock potential.
Intermittent deadlocks were seen when a qeth channel path is configured
offline, causing a race between qeth_do_reset and ccwgroup_remove.
Call qeth_set_offline() directly in the qeth_do_reset() error case and
then a new variant of ccwgroup_set_offline(), without taking
discipline_mutex.

The general convention for pcibios_* hooks is that they're named after the
corresponding pci_* function they provide a hook for. The exception is
pcibios_add_device() which provides a hook for pci_device_add().
Rename pcibios_add_device() to pcibios_device_add() so it matches
pci_device_add().
Also, remove the export of the microblaze version. The only caller must be
compiled as a built-in so there's no reason for the export.

s390/bpf: Fix optimizing out zero-extensions
s390/bpf: Fix 64-bit subtraction of the -0x80000000 constant
s390/bpf: Fix branch shortening during codegen pass
Currently the JIT completely removes things like `reg32 += 0`,
however, the BPF_ALU semantics requires the target register to be
zero-extended in such cases.
Fix by optimizing out only the arithmetic operation, but not the
subsequent zero-extension.

s390 is the only architecture which allows to set the
-mwarn-dynamicstack compile option. This however will also always
generate a warning with system call stack randomization, which uses
alloca to generate some random sized stack frame.
On the other hand Linus just enabled "-Werror" by default with commit
3fe617ccaf ("Enable '-Werror' by default for all kernel builds"),
which means compiles will always fail by default.
So instead of playing once again whack-a-mole for something which is
s390 specific, simply remove this option.

This reverts commit 9857a17f20.
That commit was completely broken, and I should have caught on to it
earlier. But happily, the kernel test robot noticed the breakage fairly
quickly.
The breakage is because "try_get_page()" is about avoiding the page
reference count overflow case, but is otherwise the exact same as a
plain "get_page()".
In contrast, "try_get_compound_head()" is an entirely different beast,
and uses __page_cache_add_speculative() because it's not just about the
page reference count, but also about possibly racing with the underlying
page going away.
So all the commentary about how
"try_get_page() has fallen a little behind in terms of maintenance,
try_get_compound_head() handles speculative page references more
thoroughly"
was just completely wrong: yes, try_get_compound_head() handles
speculative page references, but the point is that try_get_page() does
not, and must not.
So there's no lack of maintainance - there are fundamentally different
semantics.
A speculative page reference would be entirely wrong in "get_page()",
and it's entirely wrong in "try_get_page()". It's not about
speculation, it's purely about "uhhuh, you can't get this page because
you've tried to increment the reference count too much already".
The reason the kernel test robot noticed this bug was that it hit the
VM_BUG_ON() in __page_cache_add_speculative(), which is all about
verifying that the context of any speculative page access is correct.
But since that isn't what try_get_page() is all about, the VM_BUG_ON()
tests things that are not correct to test for try_get_page().

With commit cc049eecfb ("s390/pci: simplify CLP List PCI handling")
clp_get_state() was changed to make use of the new clp_find_pci() helper
function to query a specific function. This however returns -ENODEV when
the device is not found at all and this error was passed to the caller.
It was missed however that the callers actually expect a success return
from clp_get_state() if the device is gone.
Fix this by handling the -ENODEV return of clp_find_pci() explicitly in
clp_get_state() returning success and setting the state parameter to
ZPCI_FN_STATE_RESERVED matching the design concept that a PCI function
that disappeared must have been resverved elsewhere. For all other error
returns continue to just pass them on to the caller.

The cpu hotplug notifiers are called without updating the core/thread
masks when a new CPU is added. This causes problems with code setting
up data structures in a cpu hotplug notifier, and relying on that later
in normal code.
This caused a crash in the new core scheduling code (SCHED_CORE),
where rq->core was set up in a notifier depending on cpu masks.
To fix this, add a cpu_setup_mask which is used in update_cpu_masks()
instead of the cpu_online_mask to determine whether the cpu masks should
be set for a certain cpu. Also move update_cpu_masks() to update the
masks before calling notify_cpu_starting() so that the notifiers are
seeing the updated masks.

current_stack_pointer() simply returns current value of %r15. If
current_stack_pointer() caller allocates stack (which is the case in
unwind code) %r15 points to a stack frame allocated for callees, meaning
current_stack_pointer() caller (e.g. stack_trace_save) will end up in
the stacktrace. This is not expected by stack_trace_save*() callers and
causes problems.
current_frame_address() on the other hand returns function stack frame
address, which matches %r15 upon function invocation. Using it in
get_stack_pointer() makes it more aligned with x86 implementation
(according to BACKTRACE_SELF_TEST output) and meets stack_trace_save*()
caller's expectations, notably KCSAN.
Also make sure unwind_start is always inlined.

There are a lot of uses of memblock_find_in_range() along with
memblock_reserve() from the times memblock allocation APIs did not exist.
memblock_find_in_range() is the very core of memblock allocations, so any
future changes to its internal behaviour would mandate updates of all the
users outside memblock.
Replace the calls to memblock_find_in_range() with an equivalent calls to
memblock_phys_alloc() and memblock_phys_alloc_range() and make
memblock_find_in_range() private method of memblock.
This simplifies the callers, ensures that (unlikely) errors in
memblock_reserve() are handled and improves maintainability of
memblock_find_in_range().

try_get_page() is very similar to try_get_compound_head(), and in fact
try_get_page() has fallen a little behind in terms of maintenance:
try_get_compound_head() handles speculative page references more
thoroughly.
There are only two try_get_page() callsites, so just call
try_get_compound_head() directly from those, and remove try_get_page()
entirely.
Also, seeing as how this changes try_get_compound_head() into a non-static
function, provide some kerneldoc documentation for it.

The main content for 5.15 is a series that cleans up the handling of
strncpy_from_user() and strnlen_user(), removing a lot of slightly
incorrect versions of these in favor of the lib/strn*.c helpers
that implement these correctly and more efficiently.
The only architectures that retain a private version now are
mips, ia64, um and parisc. I had offered to convert those at all,
but Thomas Bogendoerfer wanted to keep the mips version for the
moment until he had a chance to do regression testing.
The branch also contains two patches for bitops and for ffs().

"The main content for 5.15 is a series that cleans up the handling of
strncpy_from_user() and strnlen_user(), removing a lot of slightly
incorrect versions of these in favor of the lib/strn*.c helpers that
implement these correctly and more efficiently.
The only architectures that retain a private version now are mips,
ia64, um and parisc. I had offered to convert those at all, but Thomas
Bogendoerfer wanted to keep the mips version for the moment until he
had a chance to do regression testing.
The branch also contains two patches for bitops and for ffs()"

Pull exit cleanups from Eric Biederman:
"In preparation of doing something about PTRACE_EVENT_EXIT I have
started cleaning up various pieces of code related to do_exit. Most of
that code I did not manage to get tested and reviewed before the merge
window opened but a handful of very useful cleanups are ready to be
merged.
The first change is simply the removal of the bdflush system call. The
code has now been disabled long enough that even the oldest userspace
working userspace setups anyone can find to test are fine with the
bdflush system call being removed.
Changing m68k fsp040_die to use force_sigsegv(SIGSEGV) instead of
calling do_exit directly is interesting only in that it is nearly the
most difficult of the incorrect uses of do_exit to remove.
The change to the seccomp code to simply send a signal instead of
calling do_coredump directly is a very nice little cleanup made
possible by realizing the existing signal sending helpers were missing
a little bit of functionality that is easy to provide"
* 'exit-cleanups-for-v5.15' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace:
signal/seccomp: Dump core when there is only one live thread
signal/seccomp: Refactor seccomp signal and coredump generation
signal/m68k: Use force_sigsegv(SIGSEGV) in fpsp040_die
exit/bdflush: Remove the deprecated bdflush system call
Here is the big set of driver core patches for 5.15-rc1.
These do change a number of different things across different
subsystems, and because of that, there were 2 stable tags created that
might have already come into your tree from different pulls that did the
following
- changed the bus remove callback to return void
- sysfs iomem_get_mapping rework
The latter one will cause a tiny merge issue with your tree, as there
was a last-minute fix for this in 5.14 in your tree, but the fixup
should be "obvious". If you want me to provide a fixed merge for this,
please let me know.
Other than those two things, there's only a few small things in here:
- kernfs performance improvements for huge numbers of sysfs
users at once
- tiny api cleanups
- other minor changes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems, other than the before-mentioned merge issue.

While in practice vcpu->vcpu_idx == vcpu->vcp_id is often true, it may
not always be, and we must not rely on this. Reason is that KVM decides
the vcpu_idx, userspace decides the vcpu_id, thus the two might not
match.
Currently kvm->arch.idle_mask is indexed by vcpu_id, which implies
that code like
for_each_set_bit(vcpu_id, kvm->arch.idle_mask, online_vcpus) {
vcpu = kvm_get_vcpu(kvm, vcpu_id);
do_stuff(vcpu);
}
is not legit. Reason is that kvm_get_vcpu expects an vcpu_idx, not an
vcpu_id. The trouble is, we do actually use kvm->arch.idle_mask like
this. To fix this problem we have two options. Either use
kvm_get_vcpu_by_id(vcpu_id), which would loop to find the right vcpu_id,
or switch to indexing via vcpu_idx. The latter is preferable for obvious
reasons.
Let us make switch from indexing kvm->arch.idle_mask by vcpu_id to
indexing it by vcpu_idx. To keep gisa_int.kicked_mask indexed by the
same index as idle_mask lets make the same change for it as well.

When this feature is enabled the hardware is free to interpret
specification exceptions generated by the guest, instead of causing
program interruption interceptions.
This benefits (test) programs that generate a lot of specification
exceptions (roughly 4x increase in exceptions/sec).
Interceptions will occur as before if ICTL_PINT is set,
i.e. if guest debug is enabled.
There is no indication if this feature is available or not and the
hardware is free to interpret or not. So we can simply set this bit and
if the hardware ignores it we fall back to intercept 8 handling.

The secondary CPU start C routine uses nodat_stack as a
interim stack before finally switching to kernel_stack.
Such scheme is superfluous, since the assembler restart
interrupt handler (that secondary CPU starter is called
from) does not need to use any stack for switching into
DAT mode. Once DAT is on, any stack including virtually-
mapped one could be used.
Avoid the use of nodat_stack and smp_start_secondary()
helper. Instead, initiate kernel_stack directly from
the restart interrupt handler.

The restart interrupt is triggered whenever a secondary CPU is
brought online, a remote function call dispatched from another
CPU or a manual PSW restart is initiated and causes the system
to kdump. The handling routine is always called with DAT turned
off. It then initializes the stack frame and invokes a callback.
The existing callbacks handle DAT as follows:
* __do_restart() and __machine_kexec() turn in on upon entry;
* __ipl_run(), __reipl_run() and __dump_run() do not turn it
right away, but all of them call diag308() - which turns DAT
on, but only if kasan is enabled;
In addition to the described complexity all callbacks (and the
functions they call) should avoid kasan instrumentation while
DAT is off.
This update enables DAT in the assembler restart handler and
relieves any callbacks (which are mostly C functions) from
dealing with DAT altogether.
There are four types of CPU restart that initialize control
registers in different ways:
1. Start of secondary CPU on boot - control registers are
inherited from the IPL CPU;
2. Restart of online CPU - control registers of the CPU being
restarted are kept;
3. Hotplug of offline CPU - control registers are inherited
from the starting CPU;
4. Start of offline CPU triggered by manual PSW restart -
the control registers are read from the absolute lowcore
and contain the boot time IPL CPU values updated with all
follow-up calls of smp_ctl_set_bit() and smp_ctl_clear_bit()
routines;
In first three cases contents of the control registers is the
most recent. In the latter case control registers are good
enough to facilitate successful completion of kdump operation.

Add tracing of interactions between the SCLP base driver, firmware and
other drivers to support problem determination in case of SCLP-related
issues.
For that purpose this patch introduces two new s390dbf debug areas:
- sclp: An abbreviated log of all common interactions
- sclp_err: A full log of failed or abnormal interactions
Tracing of full SCCB contents can be enabled for the sclp area by
setting its debug level to maximum (6).
Overview of added trace events:
* Firmware interaction:
- SRV1: Service call about to be issued
- SRV2: Service call was issued
- INT: Interrupt received
* Driver interaction:
- RQAD: Request was added
- RQOK: Request success
- RQAB: Request aborted
- RQTM: Request timed out
- REG: Event listener registered
- UREG: Event listener unregistered
- EVNT: Event callback
- STCG: State-change callback
* Abnormal events:
- TMO: A timeout occurred
- UNEX: Unexpected SCCB completion
* Other (not traced at default level):
- SYN1: Synchronous wait start
- SYN2: Synchronous wait end
Since the SCLP interface is used by console drivers this patch also
moves s390dbf printks outside the critical section protected by debug
area locks to prevent a potential deadlock that would otherwise be

Debug areas can currently only be used after s390dbf initialization
which occurs as a postcore_initcall. This is too late for tracing
earlier code such as that related to console_init().
This patch introduces a macro for defining a statically initialized
debug area that can be used to trace very early code. The macro is made
available for built-in code only because modules are never running
during early boot.
Example usage:
1. Define static debug area:
DEFINE_STATIC_DEBUG_INFO(my_debug, "my_debug", 4, 1, 16,
&debug_hex_ascii_view);
2. Add trace entry:
debug_event(&my_debug, 0, "DATA", 4);

be open coded - i.e., writing the algorithm of a standard lock in a
function instead of using a lock from the standard library. The setting and
testing of a busy flag and sleeping on a wait_event is the same thing
a lock does. The open coded locks are invisible to lockdep, so potential
locking problems are not detected.
This patch removes the open coded locks used during

dependency reported by lockdep when starting a secure execution guest

The struct pci_dev uses reference counting but zPCI assumed erroneously
that the last reference would always be the local reference after
calling pci_stop_and_remove_bus_device(). This is usually the case but
not how reference counting works and thus inherently fragile.
In fact one case where this causes a NULL pointer dereference when on an
SRIOV device the function 0 was hot unplugged before another function of
the same multi-function device. In this case the second function's
pdev->sriov->dev reference keeps the struct pci_dev of function 0 alive
even after the unplug. This bug was previously hidden by the fact that
we were leaking the struct pci_dev which in turn means that it always
outlived the struct zpci_dev. This was fixed in commit 0b13525c20
("s390/pci: fix leak of PCI device structure") exposing the broken
behavior.
Fix this by accounting for the long living reference a struct pci_dev
has to its underlying struct zpci_dev via the zbus->function[] array and
only release that in pcibios_release_device() ensuring that the struct
pci_dev is not left with a dangling reference. This is a minimal fix in
the future it would probably better to use fine grained reference
counting for struct zpci_dev.

s390 allows hotpatching the mask of a conditional jump instruction.
Make use of this feature in order to avoid the expensive stop_machine()
call.
The new trampolines are split in 3 stages:
- A first stage is a 6-byte relative conditional long branch located at
each function's entry point. Its offset always points to the second
stage for the corresponding function, and its mask is either all 0s
(ftrace off) or all 1s (ftrace on). The code for flipping the mask is
borrowed from ftrace_{enable,disable}_ftrace_graph_caller. After
flipping, ftrace_arch_code_modify_post_process() syncs with all the
other CPUs by sending SIGPs.
- Second stages for vmlinux are stored in a separate part of the .text
section reserved by the linker script, and in dynamically allocated
memory for modules. This prevents the icache pollution. The total
size of second stages is about 1.5% of that of the kernel image.
Putting second stages in the .bss section is possible and decreases
the size of the non-compressed vmlinux, but splits the kernel 1:1
mapping, which is a bad tradeoff.
Each second stage contains a call to the third stage, a pointer to
the part of the intercepted function right after the first stage, and
a pointer to an interceptor function (e.g. ftrace_caller).
Second stages are 8-byte aligned for the future direct calls
implementation.
- There are only two copies of the third stage: in the .text section
for vmlinux and in dynamically allocated memory for modules. It can be
an expoline, which is relatively large, so inlining it into each
second stage is prohibitively expensive.
As a result of this organization, phoronix-test-suite with ftrace off
does not show any performance degradation.

Most architectures do not need a custom implementation, and in most
cases the generic implementation is preferred, so change the polariy
on these Kconfig symbols to require architectures to select them when
they provide their own version.
The new name is CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_{STRNCPY_FROM,STRNLEN}_USER.
The remaining architectures at the moment are: ia64, mips, parisc,
um and xtensa. We should probably convert these as well, but
I was not sure how far to take this series. Thomas Bogendoerfer
had some concerns about converting mips but may still do some
more detailed measurements to see which version is better.

In case of JITs, each of the JIT backends compiles the BPF nospec instruction
/either/ to a machine instruction which emits a speculation barrier /or/ to
/no/ machine instruction in case the underlying architecture is not affected
by Speculative Store Bypass or has different mitigations in place already.
This covers both x86 and (implicitly) arm64: In case of x86, we use 'lfence'
instruction for mitigation. In case of arm64, we rely on the firmware mitigation
as controlled via the ssbd kernel parameter. Whenever the mitigation is enabled,
it works for all of the kernel code with no need to provide any additional
instructions here (hence only comment in arm64 JIT). Other archs can follow
as needed. The BPF nospec instruction is specifically targeting Spectre v4
since i) we don't use a serialization barrier for the Spectre v1 case, and
ii) mitigation instructions for v1 and v4 might be different on some archs.
The BPF nospec is required for a future commit, where the BPF verifier does
annotate intermediate BPF programs with speculation barriers.

Commit 7f16d7e787 ("s390: show virtualization support in /proc/cpuinfo")
introduced special handling for sie capability, saying this should not be
exposed via hwcaps, without giving a reason.
However this leads to an inconsistent /proc/cpuinfo features line
where all features except the sie capability are also present in
hwcaps. I really don't see a reason to not add that to hwcaps - it
might be quite pointless, but at least this way it is possible to get
rid of some special handling.

In order to support the use of enhanced PCI instructions in both kernel-
and userspace we need both hardware support and proper setup in the
kernel. The latter can be toggled off with the pci=nomio command line
option.
Thus availability of this feature in userspace depends on all of kernel
configuration (CONFIG_PCI), hardware support and the current kernel
command line and can thus not rely solely on a facility bit. Instead
let's introduce a new ELF hardware capability bit HWCAP_S390_PCI_MIO to
tell userspace whether these PCI instructions can be used.

Kernel support for the newer PCI mio instructions can be toggled off
with the pci=nomio command line option which needs to integrate with
common code PCI option parsing. However this option then toggles static
branches which can't be toggled yet in an early_param() call.
Thus commit 9964f396f1 ("s390: fix setting of mio addressing control")
moved toggling the static branches to the PCI init routine.
With this setup however we can't check for mio support outside the PCI
code during early boot, i.e. before switching the static branches, which
we need to be able to export this as an ELF HWCAP.
Improve on this by turning mio availability into a machine flag that
gets initially set based on CONFIG_PCI and the facility bit and gets
toggled off if pci=nomio is found during PCI option parsing allowing
simple access to this machine flag after early init.

This change simplifies the task of making the decompressor relocatable.
The decompressor's image contains special DMA sections between _sdma and
_edma. This DMA segment is loaded at boot as part of the decompressor and
then simply handed over to the decompressed kernel. The decompressor itself
never uses it in any way. The primary reason for this is the need to keep
the aforementioned DMA segment below 2GB which is required by architecture,
and because the decompressor is always loaded at a fixed low physical
address, it is guaranteed that the DMA region will not cross the 2GB
memory limit. If the DMA region had been placed in the decompressed kernel,
then KASLR would make this guarantee impossible to fulfill or it would
be restricted to the first 2GB of memory address space.
This commit moves all DMA sections between _sdma and _edma from
the decompressor's image to the decompressed kernel's image. The complete
DMA region is placed in the init section of the decompressed kernel and
immediately relocated below 2GB at start-up before it is needed by other
parts of the decompressed kernel. The relocation of the DMA region happens
even if the decompressed kernel is already located below 2GB in order
to keep the first implementation simple. The relocation should not have
any noticeable impact on boot time because the DMA segment is only a couple
of pages.
After relocating the DMA sections, the kernel has to fix all references
which point into it. In order to automate this, place all variables
pointing into the DMA sections in a special .dma.refs section. All such
variables must be defined using the new __dma_ref macro. Only variables
containing addresses within the DMA sections must be placed in the new
.dma.refs section.
Furthermore, move the initialization of control registers from
the decompressor to the decompressed kernel because some control registers
reference tables that must be placed in the DMA data section to
guarantee that their addresses are below 2G. Because the decompressed
kernel relocates the DMA sections at startup, the content of control
registers CR2, CR5 and CR15 must be updated with new addresses after
the relocation. The decompressed kernel initializes all control registers
early at boot and then updates the content of CR2, CR5 and CR15
as soon as the DMA relocation has occurred. This practically reverts

As a preparation for moving the .dma.data section from the decompressor to
the decompressed kernel, the .dma.data section must be made relocatable
by replacing absolute memory addressing with relative one. This is required
in order to be able to relocate the DMA section to a memory address <= 2G
as required by the hardware architecture. The DMA section must be
relocated in case the decompressed kernel was loaded to an address >= 2G
which can occur if KASAN is enabled. By making the whole DMA section
position-independent we avoid applying relocations to it whenever it is
moved to a different address, which becomes possible as soon as it becomes
a part of the decompressed kernel.

To make the decompressor relocatable, the early SCLP buffer with a fixed
address must be replaced with a relocatable C buffer of the according size
and alignment as required by SCLP.
Introduce a new function sclp_early_set_buffer() into the SCLP driver
which enables the decompressor to change the SCLP early buffer at any time.
This will be useful when the decompressor becomes fully relocatable and
might need to change the SCLP early buffer to one with an address < 2G
as required by SCLP because it was loaded at an address >= 2G.

A buffer that can be used for communication with SCLP is required
to lie below 2GB memory address. Therefore, both sclp_info_sccb
and sclp_early_sccb must fulfill this requirement if passed directly
to the sclp_early_cmd() function. Instead, use only sclp_early_sccb
for communication with SCLP. This allows the buffer sclp_info_sccb
to be placed anywhere in the memory address space and, therefore,
simplifies the process of making the decompressor relocatable later on,
one thing less to relocate. And make sure that the length of the new unified
early SCLP buffer is no less than the length of the removed sclp_info_sccb
buffer which might be larger than the length of the sclp_early_sccb buffer.

allocate both stacks in the decompressor's image and load the stack register

To get it over with once and for all, make all of this file
uncondititonal now so it can be accessed everywhere. There
are only a few types left that are in asm/compat.h but not
yet in the asm-generic version, so add those in the process.
This requires providing a few more types in asm-generic/compat.h

compat_sigset_t, which needs a little help on 32-bit architectures

The DMA code section of the decompressor must be compiled with expolines
if Spectre V2 mitigation has been enabled for the decompressed kernel.
This is required because although the decompressor's image contains
the DMA code section, it is handed over to the decompressed kernel for use.
Because the DMA code is already slow w/o expolines, use expolines always
regardless whether the decompressed kernel is using them or not. This
simplifies the DMA code by dropping the conditional compilation of
expolines.

Currently array jit->seen_reg[r1] is being accessed before the range
checking of index r1. The range changing on r1 should be performed
first since it will avoid any potential out-of-range accesses on the
array seen_reg[] and also it is more optimal to perform checks on r1
before fetching data from the array. Fix this by swapping the order
of the checks before the array access.

S390's init_idle_preempt_count(p, cpu) doesn't actually let us initialize the
preempt_count of the requested CPU's idle task: it unconditionally writes
to the current CPU's. This clearly conflicts with idle_threads_init(),
which intends to initialize *all* the idle tasks, including their
preempt_count (or their CPU's, if the arch uses a per-CPU preempt_count).
Unfortunately, it seems the way s390 does things doesn't let us initialize
every possible CPU's preempt_count early on, as the pages where this
resides are only allocated when a CPU is brought up and are freed when it
is brought down.
Let the arch-specific code set a CPU's preempt_count when its lowcore is
allocated, and turn init_idle_preempt_count() into an empty stub.

The existing CALL_ON_STACK() macro allows for subtle bugs:
- There is no type checking of the function that is being called. That
is: missing or too many arguments do not cause any compile error or
warning. The same is true if the return type of the called function
changes. This can lead to quite random bugs.
- Sign and zero extension of arguments is missing. Given that the s390
C ABI requires that the caller of a function performs proper sign
and zero extension this can also lead to subtle bugs.
- If arguments to the CALL_ON_STACK() macros contain functions calls
register corruption can happen due to register asm constructs being
used.
Therefore introduce a new call_on_stack() macro which is supposed to
fix all these problems.

with generic entry, there's a bug when it comes to restarting of signals.
The failing sequence is:
a) a signal is coming in, and no handler is registered, so the lower
part of arch_do_signal_or_restart() in arch/s390/kernel/signal.c
sets PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART.
b) a second signal gets pending while the kernel is still in the exit
loop, and for that one, a handler exists.
c) The first part of arch_do_signal_or_restart() is called. That part
calls handle_signal(), which sets up stack + registers for handling
the signal.
d) __do_syscall() in arch/s390/kernel/syscall.c checks for
PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART right before leaving to userspace. If it is set,
it restart's the syscall. However, the registers are already setup
for handling a signal from c). The syscall is now restarted with the
wrong arguments.
Change the code to:
- use vdso for syscall_restart() instead of PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART because
we cannot rewind and go back to userspace on s390 because the system call
number might be encoded in the svc instruction.
- for all other syscalls we rewind the PSW and return to userspace.

Using register asm statements has been proven to be very error prone,
especially when using code instrumentation where gcc may add function
calls, which clobbers register contents in an unexpected way.
Therefore get rid of register asm statements in ap code. There are also
potential bugs, depending on inline decisions of the compiler.
E.g. for:
static inline struct ap_queue_status ap_tapq(ap_qid_t qid, unsigned long *info)
{
register unsigned long reg0 asm ("0") = qid;
register struct ap_queue_status reg1 asm ("1");
register unsigned long reg2 asm ("2");
asm volatile(".long 0xb2af0000" /* PQAP(TAPQ) */
: "=d" (reg1), "=d" (reg2)
: "d" (reg0)
: "cc");
if (info)
*info = reg2;
return reg1;
}
In case of KCOV the "if (info)" line could cause a generated function
call, which could clobber the contents of both reg2, and reg1.
Similar can happen in case of KASAN for the "*info = reg2" line.
Even though compilers will likely inline the function and optimize
things away, this is not guaranteed.
To get rid of this bug class, simply get rid of register asm constructs.
Note: The inline function ap_dqap() will be handled in a
separate patch because this one requires an addressing of the
odd register of a register pair (which is done with %N[xxx] in
the assembler code) and that's currently not supported by clang.

Rework of the ap_dqap() inline function with the dqap inline assembler
invocation and the caller code in ap_queue.c to be able to handle
replies which exceed the receive buffer size.
ap_dqap() now provides two additional parameters to handle together
with the caller the case where a reply in the firmware queue entry
exceeds the given message buffer size. It depends on the caller how to
exactly handle this. The behavior implemented now by ap_sm_recv() in
ap_queue.c is to simple purge this entry from the firmware queue and
let the caller 'receive' a -EMSGSIZE for the request without
delivering any reply data - not even a truncated reply message.
However, the reworked ap_dqap() could now get invoked in a way that
the message is received in multiple parts and the caller assembles the
parts into one reply message.

Commit cf6acb8bdb ("s390/cpumf: Add support for complete counter set extraction")
allows access to the CPU Measurement Counter Facility via character
device /dev/hwctr. The access was exclusive via this device or
via perf_event_open() system call. Only one path at a time was
permitted. The CPU Measurement Counter Facility device driver blocked
access to other processes.
This patch removes this restriction and allows concurrent access to
the CPU Measurement Counter Facility from multiple processes at the same
time via perf_event_open() SVC and via /dev/hwctr device. The access
via /dev/hwctr device is still exclusive, only one process is allowed to
access this device.
This patch
- moves the /dev/hwctr device access from file perf_cpum_cf_diag.c.
to file perf_cpum_cf.c.
- use only one trace buffer .../s390dbf/cpum_cf.
- remove cfset_csd structure and includes its members it into the
structure cpu_cf_events. This results in one data structure and
simplifies the access.
- rework function familiy ctr_set_enable, ctr_set_disable, ctr_set_start
and ctr_set_stop which operate on a counter set number.
Now they operate on a counter set bit mask.
- move CF_DIAG event functionality to file perf_cpum_cf.c. It now
contains the complete functionality of the CPU Measurement Counter
Facility:
- Performance measurement support for counters using perf stat.
- Support for complete counter set extraction with device /dev/hwctr.
- Support for counter set extraction event CF_DIAG attached to
samples using perf record.

in case control registers are corrupted or a storage error

entering the disabled wait in C half of the handler. However,
the storage errors are still checked after the DAT is enabled

This update paves the way for moving the storage error checks

kernel.h is being used as a dump for all kinds of stuff for a long time.
Here is the attempt to start cleaning it up by splitting out panic and
oops helpers.
There are several purposes of doing this:
- dropping dependency in bug.h
- dropping a loop by moving out panic_notifier.h
- unload kernel.h from something which has its own domain
At the same time convert users tree-wide to use new headers, although for
the time being include new header back to kernel.h to avoid twisted
indirected includes for existing users.

Patch series "Add support for SVM atomics in Nouveau", v11.
Introduction
============
Some devices have features such as atomic PTE bits that can be used to
implement atomic access to system memory. To support atomic operations to
a shared virtual memory page such a device needs access to that page which
is exclusive of the CPU. This series introduces a mechanism to
temporarily unmap pages granting exclusive access to a device.
These changes are required to support OpenCL atomic operations in Nouveau
to shared virtual memory (SVM) regions allocated with the
CL_MEM_SVM_ATOMICS clSVMAlloc flag. A more complete description of the
OpenCL SVM feature is available at
https://www.khronos.org/registry/OpenCL/specs/3.0-unified/html/
OpenCL_API.html#_shared_virtual_memory .
Implementation
==============
Exclusive device access is implemented by adding a new swap entry type
(SWAP_DEVICE_EXCLUSIVE) which is similar to a migration entry. The main
difference is that on fault the original entry is immediately restored by
the fault handler instead of waiting.
Restoring the entry triggers calls to MMU notifers which allows a device
driver to revoke the atomic access permission from the GPU prior to the
CPU finalising the entry.
Patches
=======
Patches 1 & 2 refactor existing migration and device private entry
functions.
Patches 3 & 4 rework try_to_unmap_one() by splitting out unrelated
functionality into separate functions - try_to_migrate_one() and
try_to_munlock_one().
Patch 5 renames some existing code but does not introduce functionality.
Patch 6 is a small clean-up to swap entry handling in copy_pte_range().
Patch 7 contains the bulk of the implementation for device exclusive
memory.
Patch 8 contains some additions to the HMM selftests to ensure everything
works as expected.
Patch 9 is a cleanup for the Nouveau SVM implementation.
Patch 10 contains the implementation of atomic access for the Nouveau
driver.
Testing
=======
This has been tested with upstream Mesa 21.1.0 and a simple OpenCL program
which checks that GPU atomic accesses to system memory are atomic.
Without this series the test fails as there is no way of write-protecting
the page mapping which results in the device clobbering CPU writes. For
reference the test is available at
https://ozlabs.org/~apopple/opencl_svm_atomics/
Further testing has been performed by adding support for testing exclusive
access to the hmm-tests kselftests.
This patch (of 10):
Remove multiple similar inline functions for dealing with different types
of special swap entries.
Both migration and device private swap entries use the swap offset to
store a pfn. Instead of multiple inline functions to obtain a struct page
for each swap entry type use a common function pfn_swap_entry_to_page().
Also open-code the various entry_to_pfn() functions as this results is
shorter code that is easier to understand.

Currently most platforms define pmd_pgtable() as pmd_page() duplicating
the same code all over. Instead just define a default value i.e
pmd_page() for pmd_pgtable() and let platforms override when required via
<asm/pgtable.h>. All the existing platform that override pmd_pgtable()
have been moved into their respective <asm/pgtable.h> header in order to
precede before the new generic definition. This makes it much cleaner
with reduced code.

ZONE_[DMA|DMA32] configs have duplicate definitions on platforms that
subscribe to them. Instead, just make them generic options which can be
selected on applicable platforms.
Also only x86/arm64 architectures could enable both ZONE_DMA and
ZONE_DMA32 if EXPERT, add ARCH_HAS_ZONE_DMA_SET to make dma zone
configurable and visible on the two architectures.
