Vincent Whitchurch 7ea4aa70bf char: ttyprintk: register console
Register a console in the ttyprintk driver so that it can be selected
for /dev/console with console=ttyprintk on the kernel command line,
similar to other console drivers.

Jiri Slaby 9f90a4ddef tty: drop put_tty_driver
put_tty_driver() is an alias for tty_driver_kref_put(). There is no need
for two exported identical functions, therefore switch all users of
old put_tty_driver() to new tty_driver_kref_put() and remove the former
for good.

By adding the TTY port shutdown callback, the final buffer flush has

Tetsuo Handa c0070e1e60 ttyprintk: Add TTY hangup callback.
syzbot is reporting hung task due to flood of

           port->count);

message [1], for ioctl(TIOCVHANGUP) prevents tty_port_close() from
decrementing port->count due to tty_hung_up_p() == true.

----------
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <sys/ioctl.h>
#include <unistd.h>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])

	for (i = 0; i < 10; i++)
		close(fd[i]);
	close(open("/dev/ttyprintk", O_WRONLY));

Paul Gortmaker db50d2f65b drivers/char: don't use module_init in non-modular ttyprintk.c
The TTY_PRINTK option is bool, and hence this code is either
present or absent. It will never be modular, so using
module_init as an alias for __initcall is rather misleading.

Fix this up now, so that we can relocate module_init from
init.h into module.h in the future. If we don't do this, we'd
have to add module.h to obviously non-modular code, and that
would be a worse thing.

Note that direct use of __initcall is discouraged, vs. one
of the priority categorized subgroups. As __initcall gets
mapped onto device_initcall, our use of device_initcall
directly in this change means that the runtime impact is
zero -- it will remain at level 6 in initcall ordering.

Jiri Slaby 191c5f1027 TTY: call tty_port_destroy in the rest of drivers
After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are
not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not
called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted
with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this
assumption.

To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with
the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places.
This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed.
This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places.

Jiri Slaby f06fb543c1 TTY: ttyprintk, unregister tty driver on failure
When the tty_printk driver fails to create a node in sysfs, the system
crashes. It is because the driver registers a tty driver and frees it

This is very unlikely to happen in usual environment => no need for
stable.

The crash occurs at some place where we iterate over tty drivers
first. It may look like this:

Jiri Slaby 2f16669d32 TTY: remove re-assignments to tty_driver members
All num, magic and owner are set by alloc_tty_driver. No need to
re-set them on each allocation site.

pti driver sets something different to what it passes to
alloc_tty_driver. It is not a bug, since we don't use the lines
parameter in any way. Anyway this is fixed, and now we do the right
thing.

Paul Gortmaker 66300e66c6 drivers/char: Add export.h for EXPORT_SYMBOL/THIS_MODULE as required
They will need it called out explicitly in the near future due
to a module.h usage cleanup that removes its implicit presence
everywhere.

Alan Cox 6caa76b778 tty: now phase out the ioctl file pointer for good
Only oddities here are a couple of drivers that bogusly called the ldisc
helpers instead of returning -ENOIOCTLCMD. Fix the bug and the rest goes
away.

Samo Pogacnik 24b4b67d17 add ttyprintk driver
Ttyprintk is a pseudo TTY driver, which allows users to make printk
messages, via output to ttyprintk device. It is possible to store
"console" messages inline with kernel messages for better analyses of
the boot process, for example.
