Commit 513674b5a2 ("net: reevalulate autoflowlabel setting after
sysctl setting") removed the initialisation of
ipv6_pinfo::autoflowlabel and added a second flag to indicate
whether this field or the net namespace default should be used.
The getsockopt() handling for this case was not updated, so it
currently returns 0 for all sockets for which IPV6_AUTOFLOWLABEL is
not explicitly enabled. Fix it to return the effective value, whether
that has been set at the socket or net namespace level.

It takes 1sec for bond link down notification to hit user-space
when all slaves of the bond go down. 1sec is too long for
protocol daemons in user-space relying on bond notification
to recover (eg: multichassis lag implementations in user-space).
Since the link event code already marks team device port link events
as urgent, this patch moves the code to cover all lag ports and master.

This adds support for enabling the internal PHY for a 'cpu' port.
It has been tested on GE B850v3, B650v3 and B450v3, which have a
built-in MV88E6240 switch hardwired to a PCIe based network card.
On these machines the internal PHY of the i210 network card and
the Marvell switch are connected to each other and must be enabled
for properly using the switch. While the i210 PHY will be enabled
when the network interface is enabled, the switch's port is not
exposed as network interface. Additionally the mv88e6xxx driver
resets the chip during probe, so the PHY is disabled without this
patch.

Commit "net: igmp: Use correct source address on IGMPv3 reports"
introduced a check to validate the source address of locally generated

Instead of checking the local interface address directly, it uses
inet_ifa_match(fl4->saddr, ifa), which checks if the address is on the
local subnet (or equal to the point-to-point address if used).
This breaks for point-to-point interfaces, so check against
ifa->ifa_local directly.

Netfilter/IPVS updates for net-next
The following patchset contains Netfilter/IPVS updates for your net-next
tree. Basically, a new extension for ip6tables, simplification work of
nf_tables that saves us 500 LoC, allow raw table registration before
defragmentation, conversion of the SNMP helper to use the ASN.1 code
generator, unique 64-bit handle for all nf_tables objects and fixes to
address fallout from previous nf-next batch. More specifically, they
are:
1) Seven patches to remove family abstraction layer (struct nft_af_info)
in nf_tables, this simplifies our codebase and it saves us 64 bytes per
net namespace.
2) Add IPv6 segment routing header matching for ip6tables, from Ahmed
Abdelsalam.
3) Allow to register iptable_raw table before defragmentation, some
people do not want to waste cycles on defragmenting traffic that is
going to be dropped, hence add a new module parameter to enable this
behaviour in iptables and ip6tables. From Subash Abhinov
Kasiviswanathan. This patch needed a couple of follow up patches to
get things tidy from Arnd Bergmann.
4) SNMP helper uses the ASN.1 code generator, from Taehee Yoo. Several
patches for this helper to prepare this change are also part of this
patch series.
5) Add 64-bit handles to uniquely objects in nf_tables, from Harsha
Sharma.
6) Remove log message that several netfilter subsystems print at
boot/load time.
7) Restore x_tables module autoloading, that got broken in a previous
patch to allow singleton NAT hook callback registration per hook
spot, from Florian Westphal. Moreover, return EBUSY to report that
the singleton NAT hook slot is already in instead.
8) Several fixes for the new nf_tables flowtable representation,
including incorrect error check after nf_tables_flowtable_lookup(),
missing Kconfig dependencies that lead to build breakage and missing
initialization of priority and hooknum in flowtable object.
9) Missing NETFILTER_FAMILY_ARP dependency in Kconfig for the clusterip
target. This is due to recent updates in the core to shrink the hook
array size and compile it out if no specific family is enabled via
.config file. Patch from Florian Westphal.
10) Remove duplicated include header files, from Wei Yongjun.
11) Sparse warning fix for the NFPROTO_INET handling from the core
due to missing static function definition, also from Wei Yongjun.
12) Restore ICMPv6 Parameter Problem error reporting when
defragmentation fails, from Subash Abhinov Kasiviswanathan.
13) Remove obsolete owner field initialization from struct
file_operations, patch from Alexey Dobriyan.
14) Use boolean datatype where needed in the Netfilter codebase, from
Gustavo A. R. Silva.
15) Remove double semicolon in dynset nf_tables expression, from
Luis de Bethencourt.

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) bpf array map HW offload, from Jakub.
2) support for bpf_get_next_key() for LPM map, from Yonghong.
3) test_verifier now runs loaded programs, from Alexei.
4) xdp cpumap monitoring, from Jesper.
5) variety of tests, cleanups and small x64 JIT optimization, from Daniel.
6) user space can now retrieve HW JITed program, from Jiong.
Note there is a minor conflict between Russell's arm32 JIT fixes
and removal of bpf_jit_enable variable by Daniel which should
be resolved by keeping Russell's comment and removing that variable.

The TUN conflict was less trivial. Cong Wang fixed a memory leak of

Similar rationale as in a60dd35d2e ("bpf: change bpf_perf_event_output

such that we can better deal with optimized code. No changes needed in
bpf_event_output() as it can also deal with 0 size entirely (e.g. as only
wake-up signal with empty frame in perf RB, or packet dumps w/o meta data

Given BPF reaches far beyond just networking these days, it was
never intended to allow setting and in some cases reading those
knobs out of a user namespace root running without CAP_SYS_ADMIN,
thus tighten such access.

Having a pure_initcall() callback just to permanently enable BPF
JITs under CONFIG_BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON is unnecessary and could leave
a small race window in future where JIT is still disabled on boot.
Since we know about the setting at compilation time anyway, just
initialize it properly there. Also consolidate all the individual
bpf_jit_enable variables into a single one and move them under one
location. Moreover, don't allow for setting unspecified garbage
values on them.

A persistent connection may send tiny amount of data (e.g. health-check)
for a long period of time. BBR's windowed min RTT filter may only see
RTT samples from delayed ACKs causing BBR to grossly over-estimate
the path delay depending how much the ACK was delayed at the receiver.
This patch skips RTT samples that are likely coming from delayed ACKs. Note
that it is possible the sender never obtains a valid measure to set the
min RTT. In this case BBR will continue to set cwnd to initial window
which seems fine because the connection is thin stream.

Letting tipc_poll() dereference a socket's pointer to struct tipc_group
entails a race risk, as the group item may be deleted in a concurrent
tipc_sk_join() or tipc_sk_leave() thread.
We now move the 'open' flag in struct tipc_group to struct tipc_sock,
and let the former retain only a pointer to the moved field. This will
eliminate the race risk.

Several reasons for this:
* Several modules maintain internal version numbers, that they print at
boot/module load time, that are not exposed to userspace, as a
primitive mechanism to make revision number control from the earlier
days of Netfilter.
* IPset shows the protocol version at boot/module load time, instead
display this via module description, as Jozsef suggested.
* Remove copyright notice at boot/module load time in two spots, the
Netfilter codebase is a collective development effort, if we would
have to display copyrights for each contributor at boot/module load
time for each extensions we have, we would probably fill up logs with
lots of useless information - from a technical standpoint.
So let's be consistent and remove them all.

The basic SNMP ALG parse snmp ASN.1 payload
however, since 2012 linux kernel provide ASN.1 decoder library.
If we use ASN.1 decoder in the /lib/asn1_decoder.c, we can remove
about 1000 line of ASN.1 parsing routine.
To use asn1_decoder.c, we should write mib file(nf_nat_snmp_basic.asn1)
then /script/asn1_compiler.c makes *-asn1.c and *-asn1.h file
at the compiletime.(nf_nat_snmp_basic-asn1.c, nf_nat_snmp_basic-asn1.h)
The nf_nat_snmp_basic.asn1 is made by RFC1155, RFC1157, RFC1902, RFC1905,
RFC2578, RFC3416. of course that mib file supports only the basic SNMP ALG.
Previous SNMP ALG mangles only first octet of IPv4 address.

After commit 4512c43eac, if we add a route to the subtree of tb6_root
which does not have any route attached to it yet, the current code will
let tb6_root and the node in the subtree share the same route.
This could cause problem cause tb6_root has RTN_INFO flag marked and the
tree repair and clean up code will not work properly.
This commit makes sure tb6_root->leaf points back to null_entry instead
of sharing route with other node.

Commit b05229f442 ("gre6: Cleanup GREv6 transmit path,
call common GRE functions") moved dev->mtu initialization
from ip6gre_tunnel_setup() to ip6gre_tunnel_init(), as a
result, the previously set values, before ndo_init(), are
reset in the following cases:
* rtnl_create_link() can update dev->mtu from IFLA_MTU
parameter.
* ip6gre_tnl_link_config() is invoked before ndo_init() in
netlink and ioctl setup, so ndo_init() can reset MTU
adjustments with the lower device MTU as well, dev->mtu
and dev->hard_header_len.
Not applicable for ip6gretap because it has one more call
to ip6gre_tnl_link_config(tunnel, 1) in ip6gre_tap_init().
Fix the first case by updating dev->mtu with 'tb[IFLA_MTU]'
parameter if a user sets it manually on a device creation,
and fix the second one by moving ip6gre_tnl_link_config()
call after register_netdevice().

syzbot reported yet another crash [1] that is caused by
insufficient validation of DODGY packets.
Two bugs are happening here to trigger the crash.
1) Flow dissection leaves with incorrect thoff field.
2) skb_probe_transport_header() sets transport header to this invalid
thoff, even if pointing after skb valid data.
3) qdisc_pkt_len_init() reads out-of-bound data because it
trusts tcp_hdrlen(skb)
Possible fixes :
- Full flow dissector validation before injecting bad DODGY packets in
the stack.
This approach was attempted here : https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/
861874/
- Have more robust functions in the core.
This might be needed anyway for stable versions.
This patch fixes the flow dissection issue.

pull-request: bpf 2018-01-18
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Fix a divide by zero due to wrong if (src_reg == 0) check in
64-bit mode. Properly handle this in interpreter and mask it
also generically in verifier to guard against similar checks
in JITs, from Eric and Alexei.
2) Fix a bug in arm64 JIT when tail calls are involved and progs
have different stack sizes, from Daniel.
3) Reject stores into BPF context that are not expected BPF_STX |
BPF_MEM variant, from Daniel.
4) Mark dst reg as unknown on {s,u}bounds adjustments when the
src reg has derived bounds from dead branches, from Daniel.

Current code configures the hardware with a new SA before the state has been
fully initialized. During this time interval, an incoming ESP packet can cause
a crash due to a NULL dereference. More specifically, xfrm_input() considers
the packet as valid, and yet, anti-replay mechanism is not initialized.
Move hardware configuration to the end of xfrm_state_construct(), and mark
the state as valid once the SA is fully initialized.

RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
The normal expectation on kernel side is that the second command
succeeds replacing the existing program. However, what happens is
in cls_bpf_change(), we bail out with err in the second run in
cls_bpf_offload(). The EINVAL comes directly in cls_bpf_offload()
when comparing prog vs oldprog's gen_flags. In case of above
replace the new prog's gen_flags are 0, but the old ones are 8,
which means TCA_CLS_FLAGS_NOT_IN_HW is set (e.g. drivers not having
cls_bpf offload).
Fix 102740bd94 ("cls_bpf: fix offload assumptions after callback
conversion") in the following way: gen_flags from user space passed
down via netlink cannot include status flags like TCA_CLS_FLAGS_IN_HW
or TCA_CLS_FLAGS_NOT_IN_HW as opposed to oldprog that we previously
loaded. Therefore, it doesn't make any sense to include them in the
gen_flags comparison with the new prog before we even attempt to
offload. Thus, lets fix this before 4.15 goes out.

The current code copies directly from userspace to ctx->crypto_send, but
doesn't always reinitialize it to 0 on failure. This causes any
subsequent attempt to use this setsockopt to fail because of the
TLS_CRYPTO_INFO_READY check, eventhough crypto_info is not actually
ready.
This should result in a correctly set up socket after the 3rd call, but
currently it does not:
size_t s = sizeof(struct tls12_crypto_info_aes_gcm_128);
struct tls12_crypto_info_aes_gcm_128 crypto_good = {
.info.version = TLS_1_2_VERSION,

struct tls12_crypto_info_aes_gcm_128 crypto_bad_type = crypto_good;

Calling accept on a TCP socket with a TLS ulp attached results
in two sockets that share the same ulp context.
The ulp context is freed while a socket is destroyed, so
after one of the sockets is released, the second second will
trigger a use after free when it tries to access the ulp context
attached to it.
We restrict the TLS ulp to sockets in ESTABLISHED state
to prevent the scenario above.

peernet2id_alloc() is racy without rtnl_lock() as refcount_read(&peer->count)
under net->nsid_lock does not guarantee, peer is alive:
rcu_read_lock()
peernet2id_alloc() ..
spin_lock_bh(&net->nsid_lock) ..
refcount_read(&peer->count) (!= 0) ..
.. put_net()
.. cleanup_net()
.. for_each_net(tmp)
.. spin_lock_bh(&tmp->nsid_lock)
.. __peernet2id(tmp, net) == -1
.. ..
.. ..
__peernet2id_alloc(alloc == true) ..
.. ..
rcu_read_unlock() ..
.. synchronize_rcu()
.. kmem_cache_free(net)
After the above situation, net::netns_id contains id pointing to freed memory,
and any other dereferencing by the id will operate with this freed memory.
Currently, peernet2id_alloc() is used under rtnl_lock() everywhere except
ovs_vport_cmd_fill_info(), and this race can't occur. But peernet2id_alloc()
is generic interface, and better we fix it before someone really starts
use it in wrong context.

As the tcm_ifindex with value TCM_IFINDEX_MAGIC_BLOCK is invalid ifindex,
use it to indicate that we work with block, instead of qdisc.
So if tcm_ifindex is set to TCM_IFINDEX_MAGIC_BLOCK, tcm_parent is used
to carry block_index.
If the block is set to be shared between at least 2 qdiscs, it is
forbidden to use the qdisc handle to add/delete filters. In that case,
userspace has to pass block_index.
Also, for dump of the filters, in case the block is shared in between at
least 2 qdiscs, the each filter is dumped with tcm_ifindex value
TCM_IFINDEX_MAGIC_BLOCK and tcm_parent set to block_index. That gives
the user clear indication, that the filter belongs to a shared block
and not only to one qdisc under which it is dumped.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-01-17
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Add initial BPF map offloading for nfp driver. Currently only
programs were supported so far w/o being able to access maps.
Offloaded programs are right now only allowed to perform map
lookups, and control path is responsible for populating the
maps. BPF core infrastructure along with nfp implementation is
provided, from Jakub.
2) Various follow-ups to Josef's BPF error injections. More
specifically that includes: properly check whether the error
injectable event is on function entry or not, remove the percpu
bpf_kprobe_override and rather compare instruction pointer
with original one, separate error-injection from kprobes since
it's not limited to it, add injectable error types in order to
specify what is the expected type of failure, and last but not
least also support the kernel's fault injection framework, all
from Masami.
3) Various misc improvements and cleanups to the libbpf Makefile.
That is, fix permissions when installing BPF header files, remove
unused variables and functions, and also install the libbpf.h
header, from Jesper.
4) When offloading to nfp JIT and the BPF insn is unsupported in the
JIT, then reject right at verification time. Also fix libbpf with
regards to ELF section name matching by properly treating the
program type as prefix. Both from Quentin.
5) Add -DPACKAGE to bpftool when including bfd.h for the disassembler.
This is needed, for example, when building libfd from source as
bpftool doesn't supply a config.h for bfd.h. Fix from Jiong.
6) xdp_convert_ctx_access() is simplified since it doesn't need to
set target size during verification, from Jesper.
7) Let bpftool properly recognize BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_DEVICE
program types, from Roman.
8) Various functions in BPF cpumap were not declared static, from Wei.
9) Fix a double semicolon in BPF samples, from Luis.

Reason is that sch_ingress and sch_clsact are doing mini_qdisc_pair_init()
which sets up miniq pointers to cpu_{b,q}stats from the underlying qdisc.
Problem is that this cannot work since they are actually set up right after
the qdisc ->init() callback in qdisc_create(), so first packet going into
sch_handle_ingress() tries to call mini_qdisc_bstats_cpu_update() and we
therefore panic.
In order to fix this, allocation of {b,q}stats needs to happen before we
call into ->init(). In net-next, there's already such option through commit
d59f5ffa59 ("net: sched: a dflt qdisc may be used with per cpu stats").
However, the bug needs to be fixed in net still for 4.15. Thus, include
these bits to reduce any merge churn and reuse the static_flags field to
set TCQ_F_CPUSTATS, and remove the allocation from qdisc_create() since
there is no other user left. Prashant Bhole ran into the same issue but
for net-next, thus adding him below as well as co-author. Same issue was
also reported by Sandipan Das when using bcc.

/proc has been ignoring struct file_operations::owner field for 10 years.
Specifically, it started with commit 786d7e1612
("Fix rmmod/read/write races in /proc entries"). Notice the chunk where
inode->i_fop is initialized with proxy struct file_operations for
regular files:
- if (de->proc_fops)
- inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops;
+ if (de->proc_fops) {
+ if (S_ISREG(inode->i_mode))
+ inode->i_fop = &proc_reg_file_ops;
+ else
+ inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops;
+ }

We have identified a race condition during reception of socket
events and messages in the topology server.
- The function tipc_close_conn() is releasing the corresponding
struct tipc_subscriber instance without considering that there
may still be items in the receive work queue. When those are
scheduled, in the function tipc_receive_from_work(), they are
using the subscriber pointer stored in struct tipc_conn, without
first checking if this is valid or not. This will sometimes
lead to crashes, as the next call of tipc_conn_recvmsg() will
access the now deleted item.
We fix this by making the usage of this pointer conditional on
whether the connection is active or not. I.e., we check the condition
test_bit(CF_CONNECTED) before making the call tipc_conn_recvmsg().
- Since the two functions may be running on different cores, the
condition test described above is not enough. tipc_close_conn()
may come in between and delete the subscriber item after the condition
test is done, but before tipc_conn_recv_msg() is finished. This
happens less frequently than the problem described above, but leads
to the same symptoms.
We fix this by using the existing sk_callback_lock for mutual
exclusion in the two functions. In addition, we have to move
a call to tipc_conn_terminate() outside the mentioned lock to
avoid deadlock.

The check in sctp_sockaddr_af is not robust enough to forbid binding a
v4mapped v6 addr on a v4 socket.
The worse thing is that v4 socket's bind_verify would not convert this
v4mapped v6 addr to a v4 addr. syzbot even reported a crash as the v4
socket bound a v6 addr.
This patch is to fix it by doing the common sa.sa_family check first,
then AF_INET check for v4mapped v6 addrs.

After commit cea0cc80a6 ("sctp: use the right sk after waking up from
wait_buf sleep"), it may change to lock another sk if the asoc has been
peeled off in sctp_wait_for_sndbuf.
However, the asoc's new sk could be already closed elsewhere, as it's in
the sendmsg context of the old sk that can't avoid the new sk's closing.
If the sk's last one refcnt is held by this asoc, later on after putting
this asoc, the new sk will be freed, while under it's own lock.
This patch is to revert that commit, but fix the old issue by returning
error under the old sk's lock.

After introducing sctp_stream structure, sctp uses stream->outcnt as the
out stream nums instead of c.sinit_num_ostreams.
However when users use sinit in cmsg, it only updates c.sinit_num_ostreams
in sctp_sendmsg. At that moment, stream->outcnt is still using previous
value. If it's value is not updated, the sinit_num_ostreams of sinit could

Clean up: struct rpcrdma_mw was named after Memory Windows, but
xprtrdma no longer supports a Memory Window registration mode.
Rename rpcrdma_mw and its fields to reduce confusion and make
the code more sensible to read.
Renaming "mw" was suggested by Tom Talpey, the author of the
original xprtrdma implementation. It's a good idea, but I haven't
done this until now because it's a huge diffstat for no benefit
other than code readability.
However, I'm about to introduce static trace points that expose
a few of xprtrdma's internal data structures. They should make sense
in the trace report, and it's reasonable to treat trace points as a
kernel API contract which might be difficult to change later.
While I'm churning things up, two additional changes:
- rename variables unhelpfully called "r" to "mr", to improve code
clarity, and
- rename the MR-related helper functions using the form
"rpcrdma_mr_<verb>", to be consistent with other areas of the
code.

The backchannel code uses rpcrdma_recv_buffer_put to add new reps
to the free rep list. This also decrements rb_recv_count, which
spoofs the receive overrun logic in rpcrdma_buffer_get_rep.
Commit 9b06688bc3 ("xprtrdma: Fix additional uses of
spin_lock_irqsave(rb_lock)") replaced the original open-coded
list_add with a call to rpcrdma_recv_buffer_put(), but then a year
later, commit 05c974669e ("xprtrdma: Fix receive buffer
accounting") added rep accounting to rpcrdma_recv_buffer_put.
It was an oversight to let the backchannel continue to use this
function.
The fix this, let's combine the "add to free list" logic with
rpcrdma_create_rep.
Also, do not allocate RPCRDMA_MAX_BC_REQUESTS rpcrdma_reps in
rpcrdma_buffer_create and then allocate additional rpcrdma_reps in
rpcrdma_bc_setup_reps. Allocating the extra reps during backchannel

ipv6_defrag pulls network headers before fragment header. In case of
an error, the netfilter layer is currently dropping these packets.
This results in failure of some IPv6 standards tests which passed on
older kernels due to the netfilter framework using cloning.
The test case run here is a check for ICMPv6 error message replies
when some invalid IPv6 fragments are sent. This specific test case is
listed in https://www.ipv6ready.org/docs/Core_Conformance_Latest.pdf
in the Extension Header Processing Order section.
A packet with unrecognized option Type 11 is sent and the test expects
an ICMP error in line with RFC2460 section 4.2 -
11 - discard the packet and, only if the packet's Destination
Address was not a multicast address, send an ICMP Parameter
Problem, Code 2, message to the packet's Source Address,
pointing to the unrecognized Option Type.
Since netfilter layer now drops all invalid IPv6 frag packets, we no
longer see the ICMP error message and fail the test case.
To fix this, save the transport header. If defrag is unable to process
the packet due to RFC2460, restore the transport header and allow packet
to be processed by stack. There is no change for other packet
processing paths.
Tested by confirming that stack sends an ICMP error when it receives
these packets. Also tested that fragmented ICMP pings succeed.
v1->v2: Instead of cloning always, save the transport_header and
restore it in case of this specific error. Update the title and
commit message accordingly.

In support of usercopy hardening, this patch defines a region in the
struct proto slab cache in which userspace copy operations are allowed.
Some protocols need to copy objects to/from userspace, and they can
declare the region via their proto structure with the new usersize and
useroffset fields. Initially, if no region is specified (usersize ==
0), the entire field is marked as whitelisted. This allows protocols
to be whitelisted in subsequent patches. Once all protocols have been
annotated, the full-whitelist default can be removed.
This region is known as the slab cache's usercopy region. Slab caches
can now check that each dynamically sized copy operation involving
cache-managed memory falls entirely within the slab's usercopy region.

The current attr is a be32 supporting only one field. Thus, this

In commit 232d07b74a ("tipc: improve groupcast scope handling") we
inadvertently broke non-group multicast transmission when changing the
parameter 'domain' to 'scope' in the function
tipc_nametbl_lookup_dst_nodes(). We missed to make the corresponding
change in the calling function, with the result that the lookup always
fails.
A closer anaysis reveals that this parameter is not needed at all.
Non-group multicast is hard coded to use CLUSTER_SCOPE, and in the
current implementation this will be delivered to all matching
destinations except those which are published with NODE_SCOPE on other
nodes. Since such publications never will be visible on the sending node
anyway, it makes no sense to discriminate by scope at all.
We now remove this parameter altogether.

Commit 3765d35ed8 ("net: ipv4: Convert inet_rtm_getroute to rcu
versions of route lookup") broke "ip route get" in the presence
of rules that specify iif lo.
Host-originated traffic always has iif lo, because
ip_route_output_key_hash and ip6_route_output_flags set the flow
iif to LOOPBACK_IFINDEX. Thus, putting "iif lo" in an ip rule is a
convenient way to select only originated traffic and not forwarded
traffic.
inet_rtm_getroute used to match these rules correctly because
even though it sets the flow iif to 0, it called
ip_route_output_key which overwrites iif with LOOPBACK_IFINDEX.
But now that it calls ip_route_output_key_hash_rcu, the ifindex
will remain 0 and not match the iif lo in the rule. As a result,
"ip route get" will return ENETUNREACH.

10GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-12
This series contains updates to ixgbe, fm10k and net core.
Alex updates the driver to remove a duplicate MAC address check and
verifies that we have not run out of resources to configure a MAC rule
in our filter table. Also do not assume that dev->num_tc was populated
and configured with the driver, since it can be configured via mqprio
without any hardware coordination. Fixed the recording of stats for
MACVLAN in ixgbe and fm10k instead of recording the receive queue on
MACVLAN offloaded frames. When handling a MACVLAN offload, we should
be stopping/starting traffic on our own queues instead of the upper
devices transmit queues. Fixed possible race conditions with the
MACVLAN cleanup with the interface cleanup on shutdown. With the
recent fixes to ixgbe, we can cap the number of queues regardless of
accel_priv being in use or not, since the actual number of queues are
being reported via real_num_tx_queues.
Tony fixes up the kernel documentation for ixgbe and ixgbevf to resolve
warnings when W=1 is used.

* TC_PRIO_REPLACE: handles set and tune
* TC_PRIO_DESTROY: handles qdisc destroy
* TC_PRIO_STATS: updates the qdiscs counters (given as reference)
Like RED qdisc, the indication of whether PRIO is being offloaded is being
set and updated as part of the dump function. It is so because the driver
could decide to offload or not based on the qdisc parent, which could
change without notifying the qdisc.

conntrack defrag is needed only if some module like CONNTRACK or NAT
explicitly requests it. For plain forwarding scenarios, defrag is
not needed and can be skipped if NOTRACK is set in a rule.
Since conntrack defrag is currently higher priority than raw table,
setting NOTRACK is not sufficient. We need to move raw to a higher
priority for iptables only.
This is achieved by introducing a module parameter "raw_before_defrag"
which allows to change the priority of raw table to place it before
defrag. By default, the parameter is disabled and the priority of raw
table is NF_IP_PRI_RAW to support legacy behavior. If the module
parameter is enabled, then the priority of the raw table is set to
NF_IP_PRI_RAW_BEFORE_DEFRAG.

Now that each nexthop stores its region boundary in the multipath hash
function's output space, we can use hash-threshold instead of modulo-N
in multipath selection.
This reduces the number of checks we need to perform during lookup, as
dead and linkdown nexthops are assigned a negative region boundary. In
addition, in contrast to modulo-N, only flows near region boundaries are
affected when a nexthop is added or removed.

The hash thresholds assigned to IPv6 nexthops are in the range of
[-1, 2^31 - 1], where a negative value is assigned to nexthops that
should not be considered during multipath selection.
Therefore, in a similar fashion to IPv4, we need to use the upper
31-bits of the multipath hash for multipath selection.

Before we convert IPv6 to use hash-threshold instead of modulo-N, we
first need each nexthop to store its region boundary in the hash
function's output space.
The boundary is calculated by dividing the output space equally between
the different active nexthops. That is, nexthops that are not dead or
linkdown.
The boundaries are rebalanced whenever a nexthop is added or removed to
a multipath route and whenever a nexthop becomes active or inactive.

We refer the ability of NIC HW to fwd packet received on one port to
the other port (also from a port to itself) as hairpin. The application API
is based
on ingress tc/flower rules set on the NIC with the mirred redirect
action. Other actions can apply to packets during the redirect.
Hairpin allows to offload the data-path of various SW DDoS gateways,
load-balancers, etc to HW. Packets go through all the required
processing in HW (header re-write, encap/decap, push/pop vlan) and
then forwarded, CPU stays at practically zero usage. HW Flow counters
are used by the control plane for monitoring and accounting.
Hairpin is implemented by pairing a receive queue (RQ) to send queue (SQ).
All the flows that share <recv NIC, mirred NIC> are redirected through
the same hairpin pair. Currently, only header-rewrite is supported as a
packet modification action.

The BPF interpreter has been used as part of the spectre 2 attack CVE-2017-5715.
A quote from goolge project zero blog:
"At this point, it would normally be necessary to locate gadgets in
the host kernel code that can be used to actually leak data by reading
from an attacker-controlled location, shifting and masking the result
appropriately and then using the result of that as offset to an
attacker-controlled address for a load. But piecing gadgets together
and figuring out which ones work in a speculation context seems annoying.
So instead, we decided to use the eBPF interpreter, which is built into
the host kernel - while there is no legitimate way to invoke it from inside
a VM, the presence of the code in the host kernel's text section is sufficient
to make it usable for the attack, just like with ordinary ROP gadgets."
To make attacker job harder introduce BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON config
option that removes interpreter from the kernel in favor of JIT-only mode.
So far eBPF JIT is supported by:
x64, arm64, arm32, sparc64, s390, powerpc64, mips64
The start of JITed program is randomized and code page is marked as read-only.
In addition "constant blinding" can be turned on with net.core.bpf_jit_harden
v2->v3:
- move __bpf_prog_ret0 under ifdef (Daniel)
v1->v2:
- fix init order, test_bpf and cBPF (Daniel's feedback)
- fix offloaded bpf (Jakub's feedback)
- add 'return 0' dummy in case something can invoke prog->bpf_func
- retarget bpf tree. For bpf-next the patch would need one extra hunk.
It will be sent when the trees are merged back to net-next
Considered doing:
int bpf_jit_enable __read_mostly = BPF_EBPF_JIT_DEFAULT;
but it seems better to land the patch as-is and in bpf-next remove
bpf_jit_enable global variable from all JITs, consolidate in one place
and remove this jit_init() function.

The current criteria for returning POLLOUT from a group member socket is
too simplistic. It basically returns POLLOUT as soon as the group has
external destinations, something obviously leading to a lot of spinning
during destination congestion situations. At the same time, the internal
congestion handling is unnecessarily complex.
We now change this as follows.
- We introduce an 'open' flag in struct tipc_group. This flag is used
only to help poll() get the setting of POLLOUT right, and *not* for
congeston handling as such. This means that a user can choose to
ignore an EAGAIN for a destination and go on sending messages to
other destinations in the group if he wants to.
- The flag is set to false every time we return EAGAIN on a send call.
- The flag is set to true every time any member, i.e., not necessarily
the member that caused EAGAIN, is removed from the small_win list.
- We remove the group member 'usr_pending' flag. The size of the send
window and presence in the 'small_win' list is sufficient criteria
for recognizing congestion.
This solution seems to be a reasonable compromise between 'anycast',
which is normally not waiting for POLLOUT for a specific destination,
and the other three send modes, which are.

When a member joins a group, it also indicates a binding scope. This
makes it possible to create both node local groups, invisible to other
nodes, as well as cluster global groups, visible everywhere.
In order to avoid that different members end up having permanently
differing views of group size and memberhip, we must inhibit locally
and globally bound members from joining the same group.
We do this by using the binding scope as an additional separator between
groups. I.e., a member must ignore all membership events from sockets
using a different scope than itself, and all lookups for message
destinations must require an exact match between the message's lookup
scope and the potential target's binding scope.
Apart from making it possible to create local groups using the same
identity on different nodes, a side effect of this is that it now also
becomes possible to create a cluster global group with the same identity
across the same nodes, without interfering with the local groups.

Currently, when a user is subscribing for binding table publications,
he will receive a PUBLISH event for all already existing matching items
in the binding table.
However, a group socket making a subscriptions doesn't need this initial
status update from the binding table, because it has already scanned it
during the join operation. Worse, the multiplicatory effect of issuing
mutual events for dozens or hundreds group members within a short time
frame put a heavy load on the topology server, with the end result that
scale out operations on a big group tend to take much longer than needed.
We now add a new filter option, TIPC_SUB_NO_STATUS, for topology server
subscriptions, so that this initial avalanche of events is suppressed.
This change, along with the previous commit, significantly improves the
range and speed of group scale out operations.
We keep the new option internal for the tipc driver, at least for now.

When a socket is joining a group, we look up in the binding table to
find if there are already other members of the group present. This is
used for being able to return EAGAIN instead of EHOSTUNREACH if the
user proceeds directly to a send attempt.
However, the information in the binding table can be used to directly
set the created member in state MBR_PUBLISHED and send a JOIN message
to the peer, instead of waiting for a topology PUBLISH event to do this.
When there are many members in a group, the propagation time for such
events can be significant, and we can save time during the join
operation if we use the initial lookup result fully.
In this commit, we eliminate the member state MBR_DISCOVERED which has
been the result of the initial lookup, and do instead go directly to
MBR_PUBLISHED, which initiates the setup.
After this change, the tipc_member FSM looks as follows:

In the current implementation, a group socket receiving topology
events about other members just converts the topology event message
into a group event message and stores it until it reaches the right
state to issue it to the user. This complicates the code unnecessarily,
and becomes impractical when we in the coming commits will need to
create and issue membership events independently.
In this commit, we change this so that we just notice the type and
origin of the incoming topology event, and then drop the buffer. Only
when it is time to actually send a group event to the user do we
explicitly create a new message and send it upwards.

We handle a corner case in the function tipc_group_update_rcv_win().
During extreme pessure it might happen that a message receiver has all
its active senders in RECLAIMING or REMITTED mode, meaning that there
is nobody to reclaim advertisements from if an additional sender tries
to go active.
Currently we just set the new sender to ACTIVE anyway, hence at least
theoretically opening up for a receiver queue overflow by exceeding the
MAX_ACTIVE limit. The correct solution to this is to instead add the
member to the pending queue, while letting the oldest member in that
queue revert to JOINED state.
In this commit we refactor the code for handling message arrival from
a JOINED member, both to make it more comprehensible and to cover the
case described above.

fib6_add() will add this route after net->ipv6.ip6_null_entry. As
null_entry is shared, it could cause problem.
In order to fix it, set fn->leaf to NULL before calling
fib6_add_rt2node() when trying to add the first default route.
And reset fn->leaf to null_entry when adding fails or when deleting the
last default route.

Commit 8f659a03a0 ("net: ipv4: fix for a race condition in
raw_sendmsg") fixed the issue of possibly inconsistent ->hdrincl handling
due to concurrent updates by reading this bit-field member into a local
variable and using the thus stabilized value in subsequent tests.
However, aforementioned commit also adds the (correct) comment that
/* hdrincl should be READ_ONCE(inet->hdrincl)
* but READ_ONCE() doesn't work with bit fields
*/
because as it stands, the compiler is free to shortcut or even eliminate
the local variable at its will.
Note that I have not seen anything like this happening in reality and thus,
the concern is a theoretical one.
However, in order to be on the safe side, emulate a READ_ONCE() on the
bit-field by doing it on the local 'hdrincl' variable itself:
int hdrincl = inet->hdrincl;
hdrincl = READ_ONCE(hdrincl);
This breaks the chain in the sense that the compiler is not allowed
to replace subsequent reads from hdrincl with reloads from inet->hdrincl.

The compiler require that the input param 'len' of strncpy() should be
greater than the length of the src string, so that '\0' is copied as
well. We can just use strlcpy() to avoid this warning.

The GRO layer does not necessarily pull the complete headers
into the linear part of the skb, a part may remain on the
first page fragment. This can lead to a crash if we try to
pull the headers, so make sure we have them on the linear
part before pulling.
