The biggest changes in the core this time around have been some
refactorings that move us towards being able to drop the list of
regulators maintained by the core and instead just use the driver model
list maintained for the class devices for regulators which will make the
code smaller and avoid some potential bugs. Otherwise another fairly
quiet release for the regulator API, highlights include:
- A new API for setting voltages based on a minimum, target, maximum
triplet.
- Support for continuous voltage ranges rather than tables of explicit
steps in the PWM regulator, requiring less explicit configuration.
- New driver support for Dialog DA9215, Maxim 77843, Mediatek MT6311
and Qualcomm RPM.

Driver bq2415x_charger works also without notify power supply device for
charger detection. But when charger detection is specified in DT, then
bq2415x_charger refused to loaded with -EPROBE_DEFER.
This patch rewrites code so that notify device for charger detection is
checked when power supply event is received and not when registering power
supply device. So this patch allows to use bq2415x_charger driver also when
kernel is compiled without driver for notify power supply device.
Now after this patch scheduled workqueue is called after INIT_DELAYED_WORK,
so it also fix problem when scheduled workqueue was called before init.

The rockchip io-domain driver currently only depends on ARCH_ROCKCHIP
itself. This makes it possible to select the power-domain driver, but
not the POWER_AVS class and results in the iodomain-driver not getting
build in this case.
So add the additional dependency, which also results in the driver
config option now being placed nicely into the AVS submenu.

The USB Battery Charging spec (BC1.2) suggests a dedicated
charging port can deliver from 0.5 to 5.0A at between 4.75 and 5.25
volts.
To choose the "correct" current voltage setting requires a trial
and error approach: try to draw current and see if the voltage drops
too low.
Even with a configured Standard Downstream Port, it may not be possible
to reliably pull 500mA - depending on cable quality and source
quality I have reports of charging failure due to the voltage dropping
too low.
To address both these concerns, this patch introduce incremental
current setting.
The current pull from VBUS is increased in steps of 20mA every 100ms
until the target is reached or until the measure voltage drops below
4.75V. If the voltage does go too low, the target current is reduced
by 20mA and kept there.
This applies to currents selected automatically, or to values
set via sysfs. So setting a large value will cause the maximum
available to be used - up to the limit of 1.7A imposed by the
hardware.

Add a 'continuous' option for usb charging which enables
the "linear" charging mode of the twl4030.
Linear charging does a good job with not-so-reliable power sources.
Auto mode does not work well as it switches off when voltage drops
momentarily. Care must be taken not to over-charge.
It was used with a bike hub dynamo since a year or so. In that case
there are automatically charging stops when the cyclist needs a break.

The twl4030 charger has two current sources, 'USB' and 'AC'
(presumably "Accessory Charger" because it isn't Alternating Current).
If 'AC' is providing current, we should set the current limit
differently to when it isn't (and so USB is used).
So split 'cur' into 'usb_cur' and 'ac_cur' and use accordingly.
Now we must review the current setting on any interrupt or USB
event which might indicate that the charger-source has changed.

The twl4030 allows control of the incoming current.
Part of this control is a 'CGAIN' setting which doubles
the range for half the precision. This control affects
several different current setting, so all need to be updated
at once when CGAIN is changed.
With this patch, all of these current setting are managed
by the driver, but most are left at their default settings.
The current drawn is set to 500mA if the allow_usb module parameter is
set, and to 100mA otherwise.
More fine control will appear in later patches.

The twl4030 usb phy needs to be active while we are using
the USB VBUS as a current source for charging.
In particular, the usb3v1 regulator must be enabled and the
PHY_PWR_PHYPWD bit must be set to keep the phy powered.
commit ab37813f40
twl4030_charger: Allow charger to control the regulator that feeds it
gave the charger control over the regulator, but didn't resolve
the PHY_PWR_PHYPWD issue.
Now that both of these are controlled by runtime_pm in
phy-twl4030-usb, we can simply take a runtime_pm reference to the USB
phy whenever the charger wants to use it as a current source.
So this patch reverts the above commit, and adds the necessary
runtime_pm calls.

The thermal code uses int, long and unsigned long for temperatures
in different places.
Using an unsigned type limits the thermal framework to positive
temperatures without need. Also several drivers currently will report
temperatures near UINT_MAX for temperatures below 0°C. This will probably
immediately shut the machine down due to overtemperature if started below
0°C.
'long' is 64bit on several architectures. This is not needed since INT_MAX °mC
is above the melting point of all known materials.
Consistently use a plain 'int' for temperatures throughout the thermal code and
the drivers. This only changes the places in the drivers where the temperature
is passed around as pointer, when drivers internally use another type this is
not changed.

This patch introduces a new compatible string: "atmel,sama5d3-rstc" and
new reset function for sama5d3 and later chips.
As in sama5d3 or later chips, we don't have to shutdown the DDR
controller before reset. Shutdown the DDR controller before reset is a
workaround to avoid DDR signal driving the bus, but since sama5d3 and
later chips there is no such a conflict.
So in this patch:
1. the sama5d3 reset function only need to write the rstc register
and return.
2. we can remove the code related with sama5d3 DDR controller as
we don't use it at all.

Charging events this patch refers to are:
- charger is connected to/disconnected from the power source
- battery is reconnected to the charger, after it was absent.
When the charger is connected to/disconnected from the power source, CHRVPI
interrupt occurs and PWR_RDY bit is either set or cleared. PWR_RDY bit is
updated after 1-2 seconds CHRVPI interrupt has occurred.
power_supply_changed() should be called after PWR_RDY bit is updated.
/sys/class/power_supply/rt9455-charger/online file displays the value of
PWR_RDY bit.
This way, if the userspace is notified that a charging event has occurred
and the userspace reads /sys/class/power_supply/rt9455-charger/online file,
this file is properly updated when the userspace reads it.
This is the reason why power_supply_changed() is called in
rt9455_pwr_rdy_work_callback(), instead of being called in interrupt
handler.
Since no interrupt is triggered when the battery is reconnected to the
charger, the userspace is never notified that the battery is reconnected.
This is why power_supply_changed() is called in
rt9455_max_charging_time_work_callback(), so that the userspace is notified
that the battery is reconnected.

Pull module_platform_driver replacement from Paul Gortmaker:
"Replace module_platform_driver with builtin_platform driver in non
modules.
We see an increasing number of non-modular drivers using
modular_driver() type register functions. There are several downsides
to letting this continue unchecked:
- The code can appear modular to a reader of the code, and they won't
know if the code really is modular without checking the Makefile
and Kconfig to see if compilation is governed by a bool or
tristate.
- Coders of drivers may be tempted to code up an __exit function that
is never used, just in order to satisfy the required three args of
the modular registration function.
- Non-modular code ends up including the <module.h> which increases
CPP overhead that they don't need.
- It hinders us from performing better separation of the module init
code and the generic init code.
So here we introduce similar macros for builtin drivers. Then we
convert builtin drivers (controlled by a bool Kconfig) by making the
following type of mapping:
module_platform_driver() ---> builtin_platform_driver()
module_platform_driver_probe() ---> builtin_platform_driver_probe().
The set of drivers that are converted here are just the ones that
showed up as relying on an implicit include of <module.h> during a
pending header cleanup. So we convert them here vs adding an include
of <module.h> to non-modular code to avoid compile fails. Additonal
conversions can be done asynchronously at any time.
Once again, an unused module_exit function that is removed here
appears in the diffstat as an outlier wrt all the other changes"

This file depends on Kconfig options all of which are a bool, so
we use the appropriate registration function, which avoids us
relying on an implicit inclusion of <module.h> which we are
doing currently.
While this currently works, we really don't want to be including
the module.h header in non-modular code, which we'd be forced
to do, pending some upcoming code relocation from init.h into
module.h. So we fix it now by using the non-modular equivalent.

Commit a22b41a31e ("sbs-battery: Probe should try talking to the
device") introduced a step in probing the SBS battery, that tries to
talk to the device before actually registering it, saying:
this driver doesn't actually try talking to the device at probe
time, so if it's incorrectly configured in the device tree or
platform data (or if the battery has been removed from the system),
then probe will succeed and every access will sit there and time
out. The end result is a possibly laggy system that thinks it has a
battery but can never read status, which isn't very useful.
Which is of course reasonable. However, it is also very well possible
for a device to boot up on wall-power and be connected to a battery
later on. This is a scenario that the driver supported before said patch
was applied, and even easily achieved by booting up with the battery
attached and removing it later on. sbs-battery's 'present' sysfs file
can be used to determine if the device is available or not.
So with automated device detection lacking for now, in some cases it is
possible that one wants to register a battery, even if none are attached
at the moment. To facilitate this, add a module parameter that can be
used to configure forced loading module loading time. If set, the battery
will always be registered without checking the sanity of the connection.

The fix for NULL pointer exception related to calling uevent for not
finished probe caused to set all writeable properties as non-writeable.
This was caused by checking if property is writeable before the initial
increase of power supply usage counter and in the same time using
wrapper over property_is_writeable(). The wrapper returns ENODEV if the
usage counter is still 0.
The call trace looked like:
device probe:
power_supply_register()
use_cnt = 0;
device_add()
create sysfs entries
power_supply_attr_is_visible()
power_supply_property_is_writeable()
if (use_cnt == 0) return -ENODEV;
use_cnt++;
Replace the usage of wrapper with direct call to property_is_writeable()
from driver. This should be safe call during device probe because
implementations of this callback just return 0/1 for different
properties and they do not access any of the driver's internal data.

If CONFIG_USB_PHY is not enabled, struct notifier_block is not defined and
compilation fails. Therefore, the functions that process USB event
notifications are defined only if CONFIG_USB_PHY is enabled.
There is no need to define these functions if CONFIG_USB_PHY is not
enabled, since no USB notifications are received in this case.
Also, since rt9455_set_boost_voltage_before_boost_mode() function is
called only if USB_EVENT_ID notification is received, this function should
also be defined only if CONFIG_USB_PHY is enabled.

gpio-restart uses a priority of 128 and currently most soc-level restart
mechanisms use the same - with some exceptions even using 192.
But while the soc-level restarts are provided by the soc itself,
gpio-restarts will most of the time be board-specfic and be used
when some special board condition makes the soc-level restart
only a second choice.
The problem at hand manifested itself on the rk3288-veyron devices.
While the soc-level restart can sucessfully restart all other rockchip
boards I have, the veyron devices use an external restart mechanism that
seems to not only reset the soc but also some external needed components.
With both restart handlers having priority 128 in my tests the soc-specific
variant took precedent in all cases. While it could restart the soc
sucessfully in all cases, firmware then got an issue when talking to an
external component, resulting in the device being put into recovery mode.
So, give the board-specific restart handler a slight push and move it
to priority 129 to make it more important than the generic soc-specific

The initial register reset of BQ24190 generates a charger status change
whose propagation via power_supply_changed is prevented using a flag.
This flag gets never reset so all following events are ignored as well
leading for example to userspace not detecting charger connects/disconnects.
Therefor change the reset condition of first_time flag, so only the
propagation of the first charger status change is prevented.

If your platform has multiple such phys (as mine does),

Change to use devm_usb_get_phy_by_node(), having found the

Don't call the power_supply_changed() from power_supply_register() when
parent is still probing because it may lead to accessing parent too
early.
In bq27x00_battery this caused NULL pointer exception because uevent of
power_supply_changed called back the the get_property() method provided
by the driver. The get_property() method accessed pointer which should
be returned by power_supply_register().
Starting from bq27x00_battery_probe():
di->bat = power_supply_register()
power_supply_changed()
kobject_uevent()
power_supply_uevent()
power_supply_show_property()
power_supply_get_property()
bq27x00_battery_get_property()
dereference of di->bat which is NULL here
The dereference of di->bat (value returned by power_supply_register())
is the currently visible problem. However calling back the methods
provided by driver before ending the probe may lead to accessing other
driver-related data which is not yet initialized.
The call to power_supply_changed() is postponed till probing ends -
mutex of parent device is released.

Power supply is often registered during probe of a driver. The
power_supply_register() returns pointer to newly allocated structure as
return value. However before returning the power_supply_register()
calls back the get_property() method provided by the driver through
uevent.
In that time the driver probe is still in progress and driver did not
assigned pointer to power supply to its local variables. This leads to
NULL pointer dereference from get_property() function.
Starting from bq27x00_battery_probe():
di->bat = power_supply_register()
device_add()
kobject_uevent()
power_supply_uevent()
power_supply_show_property()
power_supply_get_property()
bq27x00_battery_get_property()
dereference of (di->bat) which is NULL here
The first uevent of power supply (the one coming from device creation)
should not call back to the driver. To prevent that from happening,
increment the atomic use counter at the end of power_supply_register().
This means that power_supply_get_property() will return -ENODEV.
IMPORTANT:
The patch has impact on this first uevent sent from power supply because
it will not contain properties from power supply.
The uevent with properties will be sent later after indicating that
power supply has changed. This also has a race now, but will be fixed in
other patches.

The power_supply_get_by_phandle() and power_supply_get_by_name() use
function class_find_device() for obtaining the reference to power
supply. Each use of class_find_device() increases the power supply's
device reference counter.
However the reference counter was not decreased by users of this API.
Thus final device_unregister() call from power_supply_unregister() could
not release the device and clean up its resources. This lead to memory
leak if at least once power_supply_get_by_*() was called between
registering and unregistering the power supply.

Change the ownership of power_supply structure from each driver
implementing the class to the power supply core.
The patch changes power_supply_register() function thus all drivers
implementing power supply class are adjusted.
Each driver provides the implementation of power supply. However it
should not be the owner of power supply class instance because it is
exposed by core to other subsystems with power_supply_get_by_name().
These other subsystems have no knowledge when the driver will unregister
the power supply. This leads to several issues when driver is unbound -
mostly because user of power supply accesses freed memory.
Instead let the core own the instance of struct 'power_supply'. Other
users of this power supply will still access valid memory because it
will be freed when device reference count reaches 0. Currently this
means "it will leak" but power_supply_put() call in next patches will
solve it.
This solves invalid memory references in following race condition
scenario:
Thread 1: charger manager
Thread 2: power supply driver, used by charger manager
THREAD 1 (charger manager) THREAD 2 (power supply driver)
========================== ==============================
psy = power_supply_get_by_name()
Driver unbind, .remove
power_supply_unregister()
Device fully removed
psy->get_property()
The 'get_property' call is executed in invalid context because the driver was
unbound and struct 'power_supply' memory was freed.
This could be observed easily with charger manager driver (here compiled
with max17040 fuel gauge):
$ cat /sys/devices/virtual/power_supply/cm-battery/capacity &
$ echo "1-0036" > /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/max17040/unbind

Add simple wrappers for accessing power supply's function attributes:

- set_property -> power_supply_set_property
- property_is_writeable -> power_supply_property_is_writeable
- external_power_changed -> power_supply_external_power_changed
This API along with atomic usage counter adds a safe way of accessing a
power supply from another driver. If power supply is unregistered after
obtaining reference to it by some driver, then the API wrappers won't be
executed in invalid (freed) context.
Next patch changing the ownership of power supply class is still needed
to fully fix race conditions in accessing freed power supply.

Add new structure 'power_supply_config' for holding run-time
initialization data like of_node, supplies and private driver data.
The power_supply_register() function is changed so all power supply
drivers need updating.
When registering the power supply this new 'power_supply_config' should be
used instead of directly initializing 'struct power_supply'. This allows
changing the ownership of power_supply structure from driver to the
power supply core in next patches.
When a driver does not use of_node or supplies then it should use NULL
as config. If driver uses of_node or supplies then it should allocate
config on stack and initialize it with proper values.

Allow drivers to store private data inside power_supply structure for

Usage of driver private data is necessary to access driver's state

'power_supply' is a stored there as a pointer, for example:
struct some_driver_info {
struct i2c_client *client;
struct power_supply *power_supply;

All 5 IRQ handlers of the driver are requested as threaded interrupt
handlers. However, only 1 handler can block. The remaining 4 handlers
defer the actual handling to a workqueue. Hence, 4 of 5 IRQ handlers
have a considerable overhead, since they are executed in a kernel thread
to schedule another kernel thread (workqueue).
This change splits up the 5 interrupt handlers into top halves (_th) and
bottom halves (_bh) and resolves the aforementioned overhead by only
requesting threaded interrupts (i.e., bottom halves) when necessary.

pointer to power supply device which was then converted into power

Instead just pass pointer to struct ab8500_fg directly so all

Currently the ltc2952 supports only one button sequence to initiate
powerdown. This is not always desirable, as even prolonged button
presses can happen in use.
Allow ltc2952 users to pick their own power down sequence, by making the
trigger input optional. Since this still means that the ltc2952 may
power down the platform if the power button is pressed for about 5
seconds, we still need to make sure to start the watchdog toggle to
prolong the system power for as long as we need it.
This will still allow the system to control power using the kill signal.

In ltc2952_poweroff_handler it is theoretically possible that the timer
fails to start on first pass (button press), but succeeds in starting on
the second (button release). This will cause the button press to be
misinterpreted, and will incorrectly shut down the system. Because a
picture says more than a thousand words:
Expected behavior:
tmr: ++++++++++
btn: -----__________-----
Faulty behavior:
tmr: +++++
btn: -----__________-----
Legend:
+ timer runs
_ button pressed
- button depressed
To prevent this from happening, check the value of the gpio before
starting the timer. If the button is active, we should start the timer,
else we should stop it.
The situation described can now still occur if the polarity of the input
pin is set incorrectly, but that at least is predictable behavior and
can be detected during the first tests.

Documentation/SubmittingDrivers suggests these be implemented even when
they do nothing. On the other hand, the platform code calls these
functions 'legacy'. Suspend and resume operations should go into a

On Atmel AT91, the conversion to device tree is now considered complete,
and all machines that were not already converted in 3.18 are assumed to
be unused and dropped by the maintainer.
All remaining board files that were written in C are dropped, and the
ancient at91x40 sub-platform (based on an MMU-less ARM7) is removed
altogether. Cleaning up the last pieces was great fun, so I took the
time to do some of the coding myself and removed several hundred code
lines that ended up unused after the board files were done.
There are still a couple of AT91 specific device drivers that are not
converted to DT (CF, USB-OTG) and currently not working, and the platform
itself is not "multiplatform"-enabled, but both issues are going to be
taken care of in the 3.20 cycle.
This is split out from the other cleanups purely based on the size
of the branch.

Currently, all restart handler use the priority 128, including
watchdogs. Probably most SoC have a watchdog, and some of them
register it also as a restart handler. But if a SoC specifies
a dedicated reboot capability using this syscon driver, this is
usually the preferred reboot method. Hence, raise the priority
of this driver to 192.

The charger-manager should get reference to fuel gauge power supply on
each use of get_property callback. The thermal zone 'tzd' field of
power supply should not be used because of the same reason.
Additionally this change solves also the issue with nested
thermal_zone_get_temp() calls and related false lockdep positive for
deadlock for thermal zone's mutex [1]. When fuel gauge is used as source of
temperature then the charger manager forwards its get_temp calls to fuel
gauge thermal zone. So actually different mutexes are used (one for
charger manager thermal zone and second for fuel gauge thermal zone) but
for lockdep this is one class of mutex.
The recursion is removed by retrieving temperature through power
supply's get_property().
In case external thermal zone is used ('cm-thermal-zone' property is
present in DTS) the recursion does not exist. Charger manager simply
exports POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP_AMBIENT property (instead of
POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP) thus no thermal zone is created for this power
supply.

Fixes: 3bb3dbbd56 ("power_supply: Add initial Charger-Manager driver")
Signed-off-by: Sebastian Reichel <sre@kernel.org>
The charger manager supports POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP property and acts
as a thermal zone if any of these conditions match:
1. Fuel gauge used by charger manager supports POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP.
2. 'cm-thermal-zone' property is present in DTS (then it will supersede
the fuel gauge temperature property).
However in case 1 (fuel gauge reports temperature and 'cm-thermal-zone'
is not set) the charger manager forwards its get_temp calls to fuel
gauge thermal zone.
This leads to reporting by lockdep a false positive deadlock for thermal
zone's mutex because of nested calls to thermal_zone_get_temp(). This is
false positive because these are different mutexes: one for charger
manager thermal zone and second for fuel gauge thermal zone.
Get rid of false lockdep alert and recursive call by setting
'no_thermal' property for this power supply class. The thermal zone for
charger manager won't be created (user space does not use it anyway).
The lockdep report:

POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP and they are forwarding this get property call to
other thermal zone.
If they won't set it lockdep may report false positive deadlock for
thermal zone's mutex because of nested calls to thermal_zone_get_temp().
First is the call to thermal_zone_get_temp() of the driver's thermal
zone. Thermal core gets POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP property from this
driver. The driver then calls other thermal zone thermal_zone_get_temp()
and returns result.
Example of such driver is charger manager.

The power_supply_get_by_phandle() on error returns ENODEV or NULL.
The driver later expects obtained pointer to power supply to be
valid or NULL. If it is not NULL then it dereferences it in
bq2415x_notifier_call() which would lead to dereferencing ENODEV-value
pointer.
Properly handle the power_supply_get_by_phandle() error case by
replacing error value with NULL. This indicates that usb charger
detection won't be used.
Fix also memory leak of 'name' if power_supply_get_by_phandle() fails
with NULL and probe should defer.

Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"Features-wise, to me the most important this time is a rework of
wakeup interrupts handling in the core that makes them work
consistently across all of the available sleep states, including
suspend-to-idle. Many thanks to Thomas Gleixner for his help with
this work.
Second is an update of the generic PM domains code that has been in
need of some care for quite a while. Unused code is being removed, DT
support is being added and domains are now going to be attached to
devices in bus type code in analogy with the ACPI PM domain. The
majority of work here was done by Ulf Hansson who also has been the
most active developer this time.
Apart from this we have a traditional ACPICA update, this time to
upstream version 20140828 and a few ACPI wakeup interrupts handling
patches on top of the general rework mentioned above. There also are
several cpufreq commits including renaming the cpufreq-cpu0 driver to
cpufreq-dt, as this is what implements generic DT-based cpufreq
support, and a new DT-based idle states infrastructure for cpuidle.
In addition to that, the ACPI LPSS driver is updated, ACPI support for
Apple machines is improved, a few bugs are fixed and a few cleanups
are made all over.
Finally, the Adaptive Voltage Scaling (AVS) subsystem now has a tree
maintained by Kevin Hilman that will be merged through the PM tree.
Numbers-wise, the generic PM domains update takes the lead this time
with 32 non-merge commits, second is cpufreq (15 commits) and the 3rd
place goes to the wakeup interrupts handling rework (13 commits).
Specifics:
- Rework the handling of wakeup IRQs by the IRQ core such that all of

IO domain voltages on some Rockchip SoCs are variable but need to be
kept in sync between the regulators and the SoC using a special
register.
A specific example using rk3288:
- If the regulator hooked up to a pin like SDMMC0_VDD is 3.3V then
bit 7 of GRF_IO_VSEL needs to be 0. If the regulator hooked up to
that same pin is 1.8V then bit 7 of GRF_IO_VSEL needs to be 1.
Said another way, this driver simply handles keeping bits in the SoC's
general register file (GRF) in sync with the actual value of a voltage
hooked up to the pins.
Note that this driver specifically doesn't include:
- any logic for deciding what voltage we should set regulators to
- any logic for deciding whether regulators (or internal SoC blocks)
should have power or not have power
If there were some other software that had the smarts of making
decisions about regulators, it would work in conjunction with this
driver. When that other software adjusted a regulator's voltage then
this driver would handle telling the SoC about it. A good example is
vqmmc for SD. In that case the dw_mmc driver simply is told about a
regulator. It changes the regulator between 3.3V and 1.8V at the
right time. This driver notices the change and makes sure that the
SoC is on the same page.

- Slightly different values in ChgTyp field of STATUS2 register. On
MAX14577 0x6 is reserved and 0x7 dead battery. On the MAX77836 the
0x6 means special charger and 0x7 is reserved. Regardless of these
differences the driver maps them to one enum max14577_muic_charger_type.

This adds a driver for the LTC2952, an external power control chip,
which signals the OS to shut down. Additionally this driver lets the
kernel power down the board.

This piece of code was added so that we return -EPROBE_DEFER when no devices are
registered. But even if class_for_each_device() returns 0, we are going to
return -EPROBE_DEFER only.
And so this code isn't required at all. Remove it.

Using 'goto' statements for freeing resources on failures is a good choice as it
makes code very clean, and reduces the chances of human errors.
Though in most cases compiler may take care of this. But adding unnecessary
'goto' statements wouldn't make anything better. Code becomes less readable
actually.

In power_supply_show_property() routine, we call ->get_property() conditionally
and should check for failure in that case only. There is no point comparing
'ret' for errors when 'ret' is surely zero.

At multiple places we are doing exactly what PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO() does. And so that
routine can be reused instead of increasing lines of code here.

The 'if' statements in power_supply_changed_work() are mostly there for taking
care of races and normally they will always evaluate to true. Optimize them for
fast execution with 'likely' statements.
Also there is need to have better comments in code to mention about the races
clearly. Get them in place.

There is no need to check the value of ret.intval before returning it, as we
will be returning zero explicitly when ret.intval is zero.
So essentially we will end up returning value of ret.intval as it is. Drop the
unnecessary 'if' statements.

We need to stop 'class_for_each_device' loop when a supply matches with the
of-node. In order to achieve this we currently return -EINVAL from
__power_supply_populate_supplied_from() on successful match.
class_for_each_device() is free to return similar errors in other cases as well
and so the choice of return value here isn't particularly great.
This commit isn't removing the Hack but making it more elegant by returning '1'
instead.
Also power_supply_find_supply_from_node() can return errors other than
-EPROBE_DEFER now if class_for_each_device() fails.

Callers of power_supply_find_supply_from_node(), i.e.
power_supply_check_supplies(), must propagate the errors returned by it instead
of returning their own.

of_node_put() was called twice in power_supply_check_supplies() whereas a single
call will also work. Rearrange code a bit to make that feasible.

In few routines, we need to end the do-while loop when no more "power-supplies"
are available. Currently we are doing 'continue' which will make the
'while(np)' conditional statement run again.
Skip this by doing a 'break' instead.
