Linus Torvalds 617e7481d7 remoteproc updates for v5.9
This introduces a new "detached" state for remote processors that are
 deemed to be running at the time Linux boots and the infrastructure for
 "attaching" to these. It then introduces the support for performing this
 operation for the STM32 platform.
 
 The coredump functionality is moved out from the core file and gains
 support for an optional mode where the recovery phase awaits the
 notification from devcoredump that the dump should be released. This
 allows userspace to grab the coredump in scenarios where vmalloc space
 is too low for creating a complete copy of the coredump before handing
 this to devcoredump.
 
 A new character device based interface is introduced to allow tying the
 stoppage of a remote processor to the termination of a user space
 process. This is useful in situations when such process provides crucial
 resources/operations for the firmware running on the remote processor.
 
 The Texas Instrument K3 driver gains support for the C66x and C71x DSPs.
 
 Qualcomm remoteprocs gains support for stashing relocation information
 in IMEM, to aid post mortem debugging and the crash notification
 mechanism is generalized to be reusable in cases where loosely coupled
 drivers needs to know about the status of a remote processor. One such
 example is the IPA hardware block, which is jointly owned with the
 modem and migrated to this improved interface.

Alex Elder 30eb3fbee3 net: ipa: new notification infrastructure
Use the new SSR notifier infrastructure to request notifications of
modem events, rather than the remoteproc IPA notification system.
The latter was put in place temporarily with the knowledge that the
new mechanism would become available.

Alex Elder e3eea08e64 net: ipa: fix kerneldoc comments
This commit affects comments (and in one case, whitespace) only.

Throughout the IPA code, return statements are documented using
"@Return:", whereas they should use "Return:" instead.  Fix these
mistakes.

In function definitions, some parameters are missing their comment
to describe them.  And in structure definitions, some fields are
missing their comment to describe them.  Add these missing
descriptions.

Some arguments changed name and type along the way, but their
descriptions were not updated (an endpoint pointer is now used in
many places that previously used an endpoint ID).  Fix these
incorrect parameter descriptions.

In the description for the ipa_clock structure, one field had a
semicolon instead of a colon in its description.  Fix this.

Add a missing function description for ipa_gsi_endpoint_data_empty().

All of these issues were identified when building with "W=1".

Alex Elder 74478ea4de net: ipa: fix QMI structure definition bugs
Building with "W=1" did exactly what it was supposed to do, namely
point out some suspicious-looking code to be verified not to contain
bugs.

Some QMI message structures defined in "ipa_qmi_msg.c" contained
some bad field names (duplicating the "elem_size" field instead of
defining the "offset" field), almost certainly due to copy/paste
errors that weren't obvious in a scan of the code.  Fix these bugs.

Alex Elder f13a8c3189 net: ipa: fix HOLB timer calculation
For IPA v4.2, the exact interpretation of the register that defines
the timeout for avoiding head-of-line blocking was a little unclear.
We're only assigning a 0 timeout to it right now, so that wasn't
very important.  But now that I know how it's supposed to work, I'm
fixing it.

The register represents a tick counter, where each tick is equal to
128 IPA core clock cycles.  For IPA v3.5.1, the register contains
a simple counter value.  But for IPA v4.2, the register contains two
fields, base and scale, which approximate the tick counter as:
    ticks = base << scale
The base and scale values to use for a given tick count are computed
using clever bit operations, and measures are taken to make the
resulting time period as close as possible to that requested.

There's no need for ipa_endpoint_init_hol_block_timer() to return
an error, so change its return type to void.

immediately if they are not valid for the direction of transfer for

Alex Elder fff899716f net: ipa: always handle suspend workaround
IPA version 3.5.1 has a hardware quirk that requires special
handling if an RX endpoint is suspended while aggregation is active.
This handling is implemented by ipa_endpoint_suspend_aggr().

Have ipa_endpoint_program_suspend() be responsible for calling
ipa_endpoint_suspend_aggr() if suspend mode is being enabled on
an endpoint.  If the endpoint does not support aggregation, or if
aggregation isn't active, this call will continue to have no effect.

Move the definition of ipa_endpoint_suspend_aggr() up in the file so
its definition precedes the new earlier reference to it.  This
requires ipa_endpoint_aggr_active() and ipa_endpoint_force_close()
to be moved as well.

Alex Elder 547c878854 net: ipa: HOL_BLOCK_EN_FMASK is a 1-bit mask
The convention throughout the IPA driver is to directly use
single-bit field mask values, rather than using (for example)
u32_encode_bits() to set or clear them.

Fix the one place that doesn't follow that convention, which sets
HOL_BLOCK_EN_FMASK in ipa_endpoint_init_hol_block_enable().

Alex Elder 8b97bcb7bb net: ipa: clarify endpoint register macro constraints
A handful of registers are valid only for RX endpoints, and some
others are valid only for TX endpoints.  For these endpoints, add
a comment above their defined offset macro that indicates the
endpoints to which they apply.

Extend the endpoint parameter naming convention as well, to make
these constraints more explicit.

Alex Elder 722208ea3e net: ipa: kill IPA_MEM_UC_OFFSET
The microcontroller shared memory area is at the beginning of the
IPA resident memory.  IPA_MEM_UC_OFFSET was defined as the offset
within that region where it's found, but it's 0, and it's never
actually used.  Just get rid of the definition, and move some of the
description it had to be above the definition of the ipa_uc_mem_area
structure.

Alex Elder a442b3c755 net: ipa: always report GSI state errors
We check the state of an event ring or channel both before and after
any GSI command issued that will change that state.  In most--but
not all--cases, if the state is something different than expected we
report an error message.

Add error messages where missing, so that all unexpected states
provide information about what went wrong.  Drop the parentheses
around the state value shown in all cases.

Halve the time limit used when aggregation is enabled on an RX
endpoint, to half a millisecond.

Use DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST() to compute the value that represents the
time period, to get better accuracy in the event the time limit is

The timer used for aggregation makes use of an internal 32 KHz clock.
The granularity of the timer is programmed by a field whose value is
computed by ipa_aggr_granularity_val().  Redefine the way that value
is computed by using a new TIMER_FREQUENCY constant representing the
underlying clock frequency.

Add two BUILD_BUG_ON() calls to ensure the value used is valid.

Create a new function ipa_cmd_tag_process() that simply allocates a
transaction, adds a tag process command to it to clear the hardware
pipeline, and commits the transaction.

Call it in from ipa_endpoint_suspend(), after suspending the modem
endpoints but before suspending the AP command TX and AP LAN RX
endpoints (which are used by the tag sequence).

have entered STOPPED state since a previous call, which might have
timed out before stopping completed.

That check actually belongs in gsi_channel_stop_command(), which is

Alex Elder f330fda331 net: ipa: header pad field only valid for AP->modem endpoint
Only QMAP endpoints should be configured to find a pad size field
within packet headers.  They are found in the first byte of the QMAP
header (and the hardware fills only the 6 bits in that byte that
constitute the pad_len field).

The RMNet driver assumes the pad_len field is valid for received
packets, so we want to ensure the pad_len field is filled in that
case.  That driver also assumes the length in the QMAP header
includes the pad bytes.

The RMNet driver does *not* pad the packets it sends, so the pad_len
field can be ignored.

Fix ipa_endpoint_init_hdr_ext() so it only marks the pad field
offset valid for QMAP RX endpoints, and in that case indicates
that the length field in the header includes the pad bytes.

Alex Elder 636edeaad5 net: ipa: program upper nibbles of sequencer type
The upper two nibbles of the sequencer type were not used for
SDM845, and were assumed to be 0.  But for SC7180 they are used, and
so they must be programmed by ipa_endpoint_init_seq().  Fix this bug.

IPA_SEQ_PKT_PROCESS_NO_DEC_NO_UCP_DMAP doesn't have a descriptive
comment, so add one.

Alex Elder 8730f45d1c net: ipa: program metadata mask differently
The way the mask value is programmed for QMAP RX endpoints was based
on some wrong assumptions about the way metadata containing the QMAP
mux_id value is formatted.  The metadata value supplied by the
modem is *not* in QMAP format, and in fact contains the mux_id we
want in its (big endian) low-order byte.  That byte must be written
by the IPA into offset 1 of the QMAP header it inserts before the
received packet.

QMAP TX endpoints *do* use a QMAP header as the metadata sent with
each packet.  The modem assumes this, and based on that assumes the
mux_id is in the second byte.  To match those assumptions we must
program the modem TX (QMAP) endpoint HDR register to indicate the
metadata will be found at offset 0 in the message header.

The previous configuration managed to work, but it was not working
correctly.  This patch fixes a bug whose symptom was receipt of
messages containing the wrong QMAP mux_id.

In fixing this, get rid of ipa_rmnet_mux_id_metadata_mask(), which
was more or less defined so there was a separate place to explain
what was happening as we generated the mask value.  Instead, put a
longer description of how this works above ipa_endpoint_init_hdr(),
and define the metadata mask to use as a simple constant.

Alex Elder 195ef57f87 net: ipa: do not clear interrupt in gsi_channel_start()
In gsi_channel_start() there is harmless-looking comment "Clear the
channel's event ring interrupt in case it's pending".  The intent
was to avoid getting spurious interrupts when first bringing up a
channel.

However we now use channel stop/start to implement suspend and
resume, and an interrupt pending at the time we resume is actually
something we don't want to ignore.

The very first time we bring up the channel we do not expect an
interrupt to be pending, and even if it were, the effect would
simply be to schedule NAPI on that channel, which would find nothing
to do, which is not a problem.

Stop clearing any pending IEOB interrupt in gsi_channel_start().
That leaves one caller of the trivial function gsi_isr_ieob_clear().
Get rid of that function and just open-code it in gsi_isr_ieob()
instead.

This fixes a problem where suspend/resume IPA v4.2 would get stuck
when resuming after a suspend.

resume_noirq.  With IPA v4.2, we use the CHANNEL_STOP command to
implement a suspend, and without interrupts enabled, that command

Alex Elder 2c4bb8093c net: ipa: use tag process on modem crash
One part of recovering from a modem crash is performing a "tag
sequence" of several IPA immediate commands, to clear the hardware
pipeline.  The sequence ends with a data transfer request on the
command endpoint (which is not otherwise done).  Unfortunately,
attempting to do the data transfer led to a hang, so that request
plus two other commands were commented out.

The previous commit fixes the bug that was causing that hang.  And
with that bug fixed we can properly issue the tag sequence when the
modem crashes, to return the hardware to a known state.

Alex Elder da1a782a71 net: ipa: kill ipa_cmd_dma_task_32b_addr_add()
A recent commit removed the only use of ipa_cmd_dma_task_32b_addr_add().
This function (and the IPA immediate command it implements) is no
longer needed, so get rid of it, along with all of the definitions
associated with it.  Isolate its removal in a commit so it can be
easily added back again if needed.

Alex Elder 9928fcc76f net: ipa: don't retry in ipa_endpoint_stop()
The only reason ipa_endpoint_stop() had a retry loop was that the
just-removed workaround required an IPA DMA command to occur between
attempts.  The gsi_channel_stop() call that implements the stop does
its own retry loop, to cover a channel's transition from started to
stop-in-progress to stopped state.

Get rid of the unnecessary retry loop in ipa_endpoint_stop().

Alex Elder c72ddf0dbf net: ipa: get rid of workaround in ipa_endpoint_stop()
In ipa_endpoint_stop(), a workaround is used for IPA version 3.5.1
where a 1-byte DMA request is issued between GSI channel stop
retries.

It turns out that this workaround is only required for IPA versions
3.1 and 3.2, and we don't support those.  So remove the call to
ipa_endpoint_stop_rx_dma() in that function.  That leaves that
function unused, so get rid of it.

Alex Elder 97e4692dda net: ipa: fix a bug in ipa_endpoint_stop()
In ipa_endpoint_stop(), for TX endpoints we set the number of retries
to 0.  When we break out of the loop, retries being 0 means we return
EIO rather than the value of ret (which should be 0).

Fix this by using a non-zero retry count for both RX and TX
channels, and just break out of the loop after calling
gsi_channel_stop() for TX channels.  This way only RX channels
will retry, and the retry count will be non-zero at the end
for TX channels (so the proper value gets returned).

Alex Elder a4dcad3446 net: ipa: remove endpoint delay mode feature
A "delay mode" feature was put in place to work around a problem
that was observed during development of the upstream IPA driver.  It
used TX endpoint "delay mode" in order to prevent transmitting
packets toward the modem before it was ready.

A race condition that would explain the problem has long since been
fixed, and we have concluded that the "delay mode" feature is no
longer required.  So get rid of it.
