In commit fa6d79d (ARM: OMAP: Add initialisation for the real-time
counter), the function realtime_counter_init() was added. However, if
the kernel configuration option CONFIG_SOC_OMAP5 is not selected then
the following compiler warning is observed.
CC arch/arm/mach-omap2/timer.o
arch/arm/mach-omap2/timer.c:489:20: warning: ‘realtime_counter_init’
defined but not used [-Wunused-function]
Commit fa6d79d also introduced the kernel configuration option
CONFIG_SOC_HAS_REALTIME_COUNTER. If this option is not selected then the
a stub function for realtime_counter_init() is defined.
For non-OMAP5 devices, there is no realtime counter and so
realtime_counter_init() function and stub function are not used for
these devices. Therefore, fix this warning by only allowing the kernel
configuration option CONFIG_SOC_HAS_REALTIME_COUNTER to be enabled for
OMAP5 devices.

In commit d0a21265df David Rientjes unified various archs'
module_alloc implementation (including x86) and removed the graduitous
shortcut for size == 0.
Then, in commit de7d2b567d, Joe Perches added a warning for
zero-length vmallocs, which can happen without kallsyms on modules
with no init sections (eg. zlib_deflate).
Fix this once and for all; the module code has to handle zero length
anyway, so get it right at the caller and remove the now-gratuitous
checks within the arch-specific module_alloc implementations.

As part of the effort to create a stronger boundary between root and
kernel, Chrome OS wants to be able to enforce that kernel modules are
being loaded only from our read-only crypto-hash verified (dm_verity)
root filesystem. Since the init_module syscall hands the kernel a module
as a memory blob, no reasoning about the origin of the blob can be made.
Earlier proposals for appending signatures to kernel modules would not be
useful in Chrome OS, since it would involve adding an additional set of
keys to our kernel and builds for no good reason: we already trust the
contents of our root filesystem. We don't need to verify those kernel
modules a second time. Having to do signature checking on module loading
would slow us down and be redundant. All we need to know is where a
module is coming from so we can say yes/no to loading it.
If a file descriptor is used as the source of a kernel module, many more
things can be reasoned about. In Chrome OS's case, we could enforce that
the module lives on the filesystem we expect it to live on. In the case
of IMA (or other LSMs), it would be possible, for example, to examine
extended attributes that may contain signatures over the contents of
the module.
This introduces a new syscall (on x86), similar to init_module, that has
only two arguments. The first argument is used as a file descriptor to
the module and the second argument is a pointer to the NULL terminated
string of module arguments.

Merge tag 'sound-3.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound
Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai:
"This update contains a fairly wide range of changes all over in sound
subdirectory, mainly because of UAPI header moves by David and __dev*
annotation removals by Bill. Other highlights are:
- Introduced the support for wallclock timestamps in ALSA PCM core
- Add the poll loop implementation for HD-audio jack detection
- Yet more VGA-switcheroo fixes for HD-audio
- New VIA HD-audio codec support
- More fixes on resource management in USB audio and MIDI drivers
- More quirks for USB-audio ASUS Xonar U3, Reloop Play, Focusrite,
Roland VG-99, etc
- Add support for FastTrack C400 usb-audio
- Clean ups in many drivers regarding firmware loading
- Add PSC724 Ultiimate Edge support to ice1712
- A few hdspm driver updates
- New Stanton SCS.1d/1m FireWire driver
- Standardisation of the logging in ASoC codes
- DT and dmaengine support for ASoC Atmel
- Support for Wolfson ADSP cores
- New drivers for Freescale/iVeia P1022 and Maxim MAX98090
- Lots of other ASoC driver fixes and developments"
Fix up trivial conflicts. And go out on a limb and assume the dts file
'status' field of one of the conflicting things was supposed to be
"disabled", not "disable" like in pretty much all other cases.

Normally r4k_dma_cache_inv should only ever be called with cacheline
aligned addresses. If however, it isn't there is the theoretical
possibility of data corruption. There is no correct way of handling this
and anyway, it should only happen if the DMA API is used incorrectly
so drop
There is a different corruption scenario with these CACHE instructions
removed but again there is no way of handling this correctly and it can
be triggered only through incorrect use of the DMA API.
So just get rid of the complexity.

in 2.6.32.
Fixed by rewriting cop1_64bit() to return a constant whenever possible
but most importantly avoid the use pf cpu_has_fpu entirely.

Our FP emulator is hardcoded for the MIPS IV FP instruction set and does
not match the FP ISA with the general ISA. However for the few MIPS IV FP
instructions that use the COP1X major opcode it relies on the Coprocessor
Unusable exception to be delivered as a COP1 rather than COP3 exception.
This includes indexed transfer (LDXC1, etc.) and FP multiply-accumulate
(MADD.D, etc.) instructions.
All the MIPS I, II, III and IV processors and some newer chips that do not
implement the FPU use the COP3 exception however. Therefore I believe the
kernel should follow and redirect any COP3 Unusable traps to the emulator
unless an actual FPU part or core is present.
This is a change that implements it. Any minor opcode encodings that are
not recognised as valid FP instructions are rejected by the emulator and
will result in a SIGILL signal being delivered as they currently do. We
do not support vendor-specific coprocessor 3 implementations supported
with MIPS I and MIPS II ISA processors; we never set CP0.Status.CU3.
[Ralf: On MIPS IV processors the kernel always enables the XX bit which
replaces the CU3 bit off earlier architecture revisions.]
If matching between the CPU and the FPU ISA is considered required one
day, this can still be done in the emulator itself. I think the CpU
exception dispatcher is not the right place to do this anyway, as there
are further differences between MIPS I, MIPS II, MIPS III, MIPS IV and
MIPS32 FP ISAs.
Corresponding explanation of this implementation is included within the
change itself.

When poweroff machine, kernel_power_off() call disable_nonboot_cpus().
And if we have HOTPLUG_CPU configured, disable_nonboot_cpus() is not an
empty function but attempt to actually disable the nonboot cpus. Since
system state is SYSTEM_POWER_OFF, play_dead() won't be called and thus
disable_nonboot_cpus() hangs. Therefore, we make this patch to avoid
poweroff failure.

When CONFIG_UIDGID_STRICT_TYPE_CHECKS is enabled, plain integer checking
between different uids/gids is explicitely turned into a build failure
by making the k{uid,gid}_t types a structure containing a value:
arch/mips/kernel/mips-mt-fpaff.c: In function 'check_same_owner':
arch/mips/kernel/mips-mt-fpaff.c:53:22: error: invalid operands to
binary == (have 'kuid_t' and 'kuid_t')
arch/mips/kernel/mips-mt-fpaff.c:54:15: error: invalid operands to
binary == (have 'kuid_t' and 'kuid_t')
In order to ensure proper comparison between uids, using the helper
function uid_eq() which performs the right thing whenever this config
option is turned on or off.

The patch needs to eliminate the definition of OCTEON_IRQ_BOOTDMA so
that the device tree code can map the interrupt, so in order to not
temporarily break things, we do a single patch to both the interrupt
registration code and the pata_octeon_cf driver.
Also rolled in is a conversion to use hrtimers and corrections to the
timing calculations.

Intc_enable_or_unmask() is called at the last stage of handle_level_irq().
This function enables the irq first (Write INTC.SIE) and clear ISR next (Write INTC.IAR).
This would create problems that processor will get into a new interrupt as soon as SIE
is written because the previous level interrupt has been captured by INTC.
If the description bring some puzzles, here is the details of how interrupt is handled
for MicroBlaze after Interrupt signal is detected:
1. disable INTC (INTC.CIE = 1)
2. Acknowledge INTC (INTC.IAR = 1)
3. gets into interrupt source's handler, for example, timer's handler
4. Timer is interrupt handler acknowledge Timer Interrupt Status (Timer.TCSR0[23] = 1), and return
5. Enable INTC (INTC.SIE = 1)
6. Acknowledge INTC (INTC.IAR = 1)
INTC continue to capture source inputs even if INTC is disabled (INTC.IER == 1).
So between the gap of step 2 and step 3, the level interrupt from source makes INTC captures
a new interrupt and thus the INTC.ISR = 1 during step 3, 4, and 5.
When INTC is enabled in step 5, INTC's interrupt output will go high immediately.
In summary, the driver should issue step 6 before step 5.

__pu_val must be volatile to ensure that the value is not lost.
It was causing the problem with timerfd syscall
where using inline asm at the end of function call doesn't
save u64 bit value to the stack.
In comparison both cases you can find out this fragment
where you can see the first part which is saved u64
value to stack and then using it in __put_user_asm_8 macro.
Origin broken implementation misses the first two swi instructions.

split_huge_page_pmd_mm() for few cases when we have mm, but not vma.
This change is preparation to huge zero pmd splitting implementation.

Pull big execve/kernel_thread/fork unification series from Al Viro:
"All architectures are converted to new model. Quite a bit of that
stuff is actually shared with architecture trees; in such cases it's
literally shared branch pulled by both, not a cherry-pick.
A lot of ugliness and black magic is gone (-3KLoC total in this one):
- kernel_thread()/kernel_execve()/sys_execve() redesign.
We don't do syscalls from kernel anymore for either kernel_thread()
or kernel_execve():
kernel_thread() is essentially clone(2) with callback run before we
return to userland, the callbacks either never return or do
successful do_execve() before returning.
kernel_execve() is a wrapper for do_execve() - it doesn't need to
do transition to user mode anymore.
As a result kernel_thread() and kernel_execve() are
arch-independent now - they live in kernel/fork.c and fs/exec.c
resp. sys_execve() is also in fs/exec.c and it's completely
architecture-independent.
- daemonize() is gone, along with its parts in fs/*.c
- struct pt_regs * is no longer passed to do_fork/copy_process/
copy_thread/do_execve/search_binary_handler/->load_binary/do_coredump.
- sys_fork()/sys_vfork()/sys_clone() unified; some architectures
still need wrappers (ones with callee-saved registers not saved in
pt_regs on syscall entry), but the main part of those suckers is in
kernel/fork.c now."

series of ARMv7 platforms from them, where the hope is that we can
keep the platform code generic enough to have them all share one mach

Highbank has grown support for Calxeda's next generation of hardware,

Drivers for EDAC on Cavium. Supported subsystems are:
o CPU primary caches. These are parity protected only, so only error
reporting.
o Second level cache - ECC protected, provides SECDED.
o Memory: ECC / SECDEC if used with suitable DRAM modules. The driver will
will only initialize if ECC is enabled on a system so is safe to run on
non-ECC memory.
o PCI: Parity error reporting
Since it is very hard to test this sort of code the implementation is very
conservative and uses polling where possible for now.

The debug polling interface for the SoC serial ports did not work in the case
where the serial ports were not also used as a console. In that case, the
uart driver startup function will not be called so tx and rx would not be
enabled in the hardware control register. Also, vdma interrupts would not be
enabled which the poll_get_char function relied on. This patch makes sure that
the rx and tx enables are set as a consequence of the uart set_termios call
which is the only initialization done for the debug polling interface. Also,
the poll_get_char now handles the case where vdma interrupts are not enabled.

The SoC serial port driver uses a high priority interrupt to handle tx of
characters in the tx ring buffer. The driver needs to disable/enable this IRQ
from outside of irq context. The original code to do this is not foolproof on
SMP machines because the IRQ running on one core could still access the serial
port for a short time after the driver running on another core disables the
interrupt. This patch adds a flag to tell the IRQ handler that the driver
wants to disable the interrupt. After seeing the flag, the IRQ handler will
immediately disable the interrupt and exit. After setting the flag, the driver
will wait for interrupt to be disabled by the IRQ handler.

The builtin SoC serial ports have no FIFOs and use a virtual DMA mechanism
based on high priority IRQs to avoid overruns. These high priority interrupts
are pinned to cpu#0 on SMP systems. This patch fixes a problem with SMP where
the set_intr_level() interface is used to set the priority for these IRQs. The
set_intr_level() function sets priority on the local cpu but on SMP systems,
this code may be run on some other cpu than the one handling the interrupts.
Instead of setting interrupt level explicitly, this patch uses a special
irq_chip for these interrupts so that the mask/unmask methods can set the
interrupt level implicitly.

The irq_set_affinity handler for the mn10300 cpu pic had some hard-coded IRQs
which were not to be migrated from one cpu to another. This patch cleans those
up by using a combination of IRQF_NOBALANCING and specialized irq chips with
no irq_set_affinity handler. This maintains the previous behavior by using
generic IRQ interfaces rather than hard coding IRQ numbers in the default
irq_set_affinity handler.

Pull ARM OMAP serial updates from Russell King:
"This series is a major reworking of the OMAP serial driver code fixing
various bugs in the hardware-assisted flow control, extending up into
serial_core for a couple of issues. These fixes have been done as a
set of progressive changes and transformations in the hope that no new
bugs will be introduced by this series.
The problems are many-fold, from the driver not being informed about
updated settings, to the driver not knowing what the intentions of the
upper layers are.
The first four patches tackle the serial_core layer, allowing it to
provide the necessary information to drivers, and the remaining
patches allow the OMAP serial driver to take advantage of this.
This brings hardware assisted RTS/CTS and XON/OFF flow control into a
useful state.
These patches have been in linux-next for most of the last cycle;
indeed they predate the previous merge window. They've also been

architecture code, plus the identification of barriers to
BSP-offlining, such as active PIC interrupts which can only be
serviced on the BSP.
It's behind a default-off option, and there's a debug option that
allows the automatic testing of this feature.
The motivation of this feature is to allow and prepare for true
CPU-hotplug hardware support: recent changes to MCE support enable us
to detect a deteriorating but not yet hard-failing L1/L2 cache on a
CPU that could be soft-unplugged - or a failing L3 cache on a
multi-socket system.
Note that true hardware hot-plug is not yet fully enabled by this,
because that requires a special platform wakeup sequence to be sent to
the freshly powered up CPU#0. Future patches for this are planned,

binary on-the-runqueue/off-the-runqueue load weight method.
This will inevitably disturb workloads that were in some sort of
borderline balancing state or unstable equilibrium, so an eye has to
be kept on regressions.
For that reason the new load average is only limited to group
scheduling (shares distribution) at the moment (which was also hurting
the most from the prior, crude weight calculation and whose scheduling
quality wins most from this change) - but we plan to extend this to
regular SMP balancing as well in the future, which will simplify and
speed up things a bit.
Other changes involve ongoing preparatory work to extend NOHZ to the
scheduler as well, eventually allowing completely irq-free user-space
execution."

Pull RCU update from Ingo Molnar:
"The major features of this tree are:
1. A first version of no-callbacks CPUs. This version prohibits
offlining CPU 0, but only when enabled via CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU=y.
Relaxing this constraint is in progress, but not yet ready
for prime time. These commits were posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/724.
2. Changes to SRCU that allows statically initialized srcu_struct
structures. These commits were posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/296.
3. Restructuring of RCU's debugfs output. These commits were posted
to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/341.
4. Additional CPU-hotplug/RCU improvements, posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/327.
Note that the commit eliminating __stop_machine() was judged to
be too-high of risk, so is deferred to 3.9.
5. Changes to RCU's idle interface, most notably a new module
parameter that redirects normal grace-period operations to
their expedited equivalents. These were posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/739.
6. Additional diagnostics for RCU's CPU stall warning facility,
posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/315.
The most notable change reduces the
default RCU CPU stall-warning time from 60 seconds to 21 seconds,
so that it once again happens sooner than the softlockup timeout.
7. Documentation updates, which were posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/280.
A couple of late-breaking changes were posted at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/634 and
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/547.
8. Miscellaneous fixes, which were posted to LKML at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/309.
9. Finally, a fix for an lockdep-RCU splat was posted to LKML
at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/7/486."

Fix the x86-64 cache alignment code to take pgoff into account. Use the
x86 and MIPS cache alignment code as the basis for a generic cache
alignment function.
The old x86 code will always align the mmap to aliasing boundaries,
even if the program mmaps the file with a non-zero pgoff.
If program A mmaps the file with pgoff 0, and program B mmaps the file
with pgoff 1. The old code would align the mmaps, resulting in misaligned
pages:
A: 0123
B: 123
After this patch, they are aligned so the pages line up:
A: 0123
B: 123

There was some desire in large applications using MAP_HUGETLB or
SHM_HUGETLB to use 1GB huge pages on some mappings, and stay with 2MB on
others. This is useful together with NUMA policy: use 2MB interleaving
on some mappings, but 1GB on local mappings.
This patch extends the IPC/SHM syscall interfaces slightly to allow
specifying the page size.
It borrows some upper bits in the existing flag arguments and allows
encoding the log of the desired page size in addition to the *_HUGETLB
flag. When 0 is specified the default size is used, this makes the
change fully compatible.
Extending the internal hugetlb code to handle this is straight forward.
Instead of a single mount it just keeps an array of them and selects the
right mount based on the specified page size. When no page size is
specified it uses the mount of the default page size.
The change is not visible in /proc/mounts because internal mounts don't
appear there. It also has very little overhead: the additional mounts
just consume a super block, but not more memory when not used.
I also exported the new flags to the user headers (they were previously
under __KERNEL__). Right now only symbols for x86 and some other
architecture for 1GB and 2MB are defined. The interface should already
work for all other architectures though. Only architectures that define
multiple hugetlb sizes actually need it (that is currently x86, tile,
powerpc). However tile and powerpc have user configurable hugetlb
sizes, so it's not easy to add defines. A program on those
architectures would need to query sysfs and use the appropiate log2.

This patch changes the busy-waiting loop around in the decompressor
putc() function on the UART FIFO register. Without a proper wait, the
output of the decompressor was corrupted like this:
Uncompressing Linx. done, booting th enl
To highlight the issue more evidently, looping 100 times instead of 1000
makes the issue appear much faster. This patch takes the approach of
using an active while loop until the FIFO is empty (not FULL).

Here's the big staging tree merge for 3.8-rc1
There's a lot of patches in here, the majority being the comedi rework/cleanup
that has been ongoing and is causing a huge reduction in overall code size,
which is amazing to watch. We also removed some older drivers (telephony and
rts_pstor), and added a new one (fwserial which also came in through the tty
tree due to tty api changes, take that one if you get merge conflicts.)
The iio and ipack drivers are moving out of the staging area into their
own part of the kernel as they have been cleaned up sufficiently and are
working well.
Overall, again a reduction of code:

Here is the "big" char/misc driver patches for 3.8-rc1. I'm starting to
put random driver subsystems that I had previously sent you through the
driver-core tree in this tree, as it makes more sense to do so.
Nothing major here, the various __dev* removals, some mei driver
updates, and other random driver-specific things from the different
maintainers and developers.
Note, some MFD drivers got added through this tree, and they are also
coming in through the "real" MFD tree as well, due to some major
mis-communication between me and the different developers. If you have
any merge conflicts, take the ones from the MFD tree, not these ones,
sorry about that.

Here's the large driver core updates for 3.8-rc1.
The biggest thing here is the various __dev* marking removals. This is
going to be a pain for the merge with different subsystem trees, I know,
but all of the patches included here have been ACKed by their various
subsystem maintainers, as they wanted them to go through here.
If this is too much of a pain, I can pull all of them out of this tree
and just send you one with the other fixes/updates and then, after
3.8-rc1 is out, do the rest of the removals to ensure we catch them all,
it's up to you. The merges should all be trivial, and Stephen has been
doing them all in linux-next for a few weeks now quite easily.
Other than the __dev* marking removals, there's nothing major here, some
firmware loading updates and other minor things in the driver core.
All of these have (much to Stephen's annoyance), been in linux-next for
a while.

NOTE: This patch is based on "sched, numa, mm: Add fault driven
placement and migration policy" but as it throws away all the policy
to just leave a basic foundation I had to drop the signed-offs-by.
This patch creates a bare-bones method for setting PTEs pte_numa in the
context of the scheduler that when faulted later will be faulted onto the
node the CPU is running on. In itself this does nothing useful but any
placement policy will fundamentally depend on receiving hints on placement
from fault context and doing something intelligent about it.

Implement pte_numa and pmd_numa.
We must atomically set the numa bit and clear the present bit to
define a pte_numa or pmd_numa.
Once a pte or pmd has been set as pte_numa or pmd_numa, the next time
a thread touches a virtual address in the corresponding virtual range,
a NUMA hinting page fault will trigger. The NUMA hinting page fault
will clear the NUMA bit and set the present bit again to resolve the
page fault.
The expectation is that a NUMA hinting page fault is used as part
of a placement policy that decides if a page should remain on the
current node or migrated to a different node.

The objective of _PAGE_NUMA is to be able to trigger NUMA hinting page
faults to identify the per NUMA node working set of the thread at
runtime.
Arming the NUMA hinting page fault mechanism works similarly to
setting up a mprotect(PROT_NONE) virtual range: the present bit is
cleared at the same time that _PAGE_NUMA is set, so when the fault
triggers we can identify it as a NUMA hinting page fault.
_PAGE_NUMA on x86 shares the same bit number of _PAGE_PROTNONE (but it
could also use a different bitflag, it's up to the architecture to
decide).
It would be confusing to call the "NUMA hinting page faults" as
"do_prot_none faults". They're different events and _PAGE_NUMA doesn't
alter the semantics of mprotect(PROT_NONE) in any way.
Sharing the same bitflag with _PAGE_PROTNONE in fact complicates
things: it requires us to ensure the code paths executed by
_PAGE_PROTNONE remains mutually exclusive to the code paths executed
by _PAGE_NUMA at all times, to avoid _PAGE_NUMA and _PAGE_PROTNONE to
step into each other toes.
Because we want to be able to set this bitflag in any established pte
or pmd (while clearing the present bit at the same time) without
losing information, this bitflag must never be set when the pte and
pmd are present, so the bitflag picked for _PAGE_NUMA usage, must not
be used by the swap entry format.

We need pte_present to return true for _PAGE_PROTNONE pages, to indicate that
the pte is associated with a page.
However, for TLB flushing purposes, we would like to know whether the pte
points to an actually accessible page. This allows us to skip remote TLB
flushes for pages that are not actually accessible.
Fill in this method for x86 and provide a safe (but slower) method
on other architectures.

Intel has an architectural guarantee that the TLB entry causing
a page fault gets invalidated automatically. This means
we should be able to drop the local TLB invalidation.
Because of the way other areas of the page fault code work,
chances are good that all x86 CPUs do this. However, if
someone somewhere has an x86 CPU that does not invalidate
the TLB entry causing a page fault, this one-liner should
be easy to revert.

The function ptep_set_access_flags() is only ever invoked to set access
flags or add write permission on a PTE. The write bit is only ever set
together with the dirty bit.
Because we only ever upgrade a PTE, it is safe to skip flushing entries on
remote TLBs. The worst that can happen is a spurious page fault on other
CPUs, which would flush that TLB entry.
Lazily letting another CPU incur a spurious page fault occasionally is
(much!) cheaper than aggressively flushing everybody else's TLB.

The kernel can only be entered on HYP mode on CPUs which actually
support it, i.e. >= ARMv7. pre-v6 platform support cannot coexist
in the same kernel as support for v7 and higher, so there is no
advantage in having the HYP mode check on pre-v6 hardware.
At least one pre-v6 board is known to fail when the HYP mode check
code is present, although the exact cause remains unknown and may
be unrelated. [1]
This patch restores the old behaviour for pre-v6 platforms, whereby
the CPSR is forced directly to SVC mode with IRQs and FIQs masked.
All kernels capable of booting on v7 hardware will retain the
check, so this should not impair functionality.

syscall_trace_exit is currently doing things back-to-front; invoking
the audit hook *after* signalling the debugger, which presents an
opportunity for the registers to be re-written by userspace in order to
bypass auditing constaints.
This patch fixes the ordering by moving the audit code first and the
tracehook code last. On the face of it, it looks like
current_thread_info()->syscall may be incorrect for the sys_exit
tracepoint, but that's actually not an issue because it will have been
set during syscall entry and cannot have changed since then.

Recent ARMv7 toolchains assume that unaligned memory accesses will not
fault and will instead be handled by the processor.
For the nommu case (without an MPU), memory will be treated as
strongly-ordered and therefore unaligned accesses may fault regardless
of the SCTLR.A setting.
This patch passes -mno-unaligned-access to GCC when compiling for nommu
targets, preventing the generation of unaligned memory access in the

Previously, the ASoC 'platform' (PCM/DMA) object was instantiated via a
platform_device. This didn't represent the hardware well, since there
was no separate hardware associated with this platform_device; it was a
