Introduce a field per_bio_data_size in struct dm_target.
Targets can set this field in the constructor. If a target sets this
field to a non-zero value, "per_bio_data_size" bytes of auxiliary data
are allocated for each bio submitted to the target. These data can be
used for any purpose by the target and help us improve performance by
removing some per-target mempools.
Per-bio data is accessed with dm_per_bio_data. The
argument data_size must be the same as the value per_bio_data_size in
dm_target.
If the target has a pointer to per_bio_data, it can get a pointer to
the bio with dm_bio_from_per_bio_data() function (data_size must be the
same as the value passed to dm_per_bio_data).

Add WRITE SAME support to dm-io and make it accessible to
dm_kcopyd_zero(). dm_kcopyd_zero() provides an asynchronous interface
whereas the blkdev_issue_write_same() interface is synchronous.
WRITE SAME is a SCSI command that can be leveraged for more efficient
zeroing of a specified logical extent of a device which supports it.
Only a single zeroed logical block is transfered to the target for each
WRITE SAME and the target then writes that same block across the
specified extent.
The dm thin target uses this.

WRITE SAME bios have a payload that contain a single page. When
cloning WRITE SAME bios DM has no need to modify the bi_io_vec
attributes (and doing so would be detrimental). DM need only alter the
start and end of the WRITE SAME bio accordingly.
Rather than duplicate __clone_and_map_discard, factor out a common
function that is also used by __clone_and_map_write_same.

Allow targets to opt in to WRITE SAME support by setting
'num_write_same_requests' in the dm_target structure.
A dm device will only advertise WRITE SAME support if all its

If the parameter buffer is small enough, try to allocate it with kmalloc()
rather than vmalloc().
vmalloc is noticeably slower than kmalloc because it has to manipulate
page tables.
In my tests, on PA-RISC this patch speeds up activation 13 times.
On Opteron this patch speeds up activation by 5%.
This patch introduces a new function free_params() to free the
parameters and this uses new flags that record whether or not vmalloc()
was used and whether or not the input buffer must be wiped after use.

If the user does not supply a bitmap region_size to the dm raid target,
a reasonable size is computed automatically. If this is not a power of 2,
the md code will report an error later.
This patch catches the problem early and rounds the region_size to the
next power of two.

If "ignore_discard" is specified when creating the thin pool device then
discard support is disabled for that device. The pool device's status
should reflect this fact rather than stating "no_discard_passdown"
(which implies discards are enabled but passdown is disabled).

When deleting nested btrees, the code forgets to delete the innermost
btree. The thin-metadata code serendipitously compensates for this by
claiming there is one extra layer in the tree.
This patch corrects both problems.

When discards are prepared it is best to directly wake the worker that
will process them. The worker will be woken anyway, via periodic
commit, but there is no reason to not wake_worker here.

There is a race when discard bios and non-discard bios are issued
simultaneously to the same block.
Discard support is expensive for all thin devices precisely because you
have to be careful to quiesce the area you're discarding. DM thin must
handle this conflicting IO pattern (simultaneous non-discard vs discard)
even though a sane application shouldn't be issuing such IO.
The race manifests as follows:
1. A non-discard bio is mapped in thin_bio_map.
This doesn't lock out parallel activity to the same block.
2. A discard bio is issued to the same block as the non-discard bio.
3. The discard bio is locked in a dm_bio_prison_cell in process_discard
to lock out parallel activity against the same block.
4. The non-discard bio's mapping continues and its all_io_entry is
incremented so the bio is accounted for in the thin pool's all_io_ds
which is a dm_deferred_set used to track time locality of non-discard IO.
5. The non-discard bio is finally locked in a dm_bio_prison_cell in
process_bio.
The race can result in deadlock, leaving the block layer hanging waiting
for completion of a discard bio that never completes, e.g.:

The thinp-test-suite's test_discard_random_sectors reliably hits this
deadlock on fast SSD storage.
The fix for this race is that the all_io_entry for a bio must be
incremented whilst the dm_bio_prison_cell is held for the bio's
associated virtual and physical blocks. That cell locking wasn't
occurring early enough in thin_bio_map. This patch fixes this.
Care is taken to always call the new function inc_all_io_entry() with
the relevant cells locked, but they are generally unlocked before
calling issue() to try to avoid holding the cells locked across
generic_submit_request.
Also, now that thin_bio_map may lock bios in a cell, process_bio() is no
longer the only thread that will do so. Because of this we must be sure
to use cell_defer_except() to release all non-holder entries, that
were added by the other thread, because they must be deferred.
This patch depends on "dm thin: replace dm_cell_release_singleton with
cell_defer_except".

Change existing users of the function dm_cell_release_singleton to share
cell_defer_except instead, and then remove the now-unused function.
Everywhere that calls dm_cell_release_singleton, the bio in question
is the holder of the cell.
If there are no non-holder entries in the cell then cell_defer_except
behaves exactly like dm_cell_release_singleton. Conversely, if there
*are* non-holder entries then dm_cell_release_singleton must not be used
because those entries would need to be deferred.
Consequently, it is safe to replace use of dm_cell_release_singleton
with cell_defer_except.
This patch is a pre-requisite for "dm thin: fix race between
simultaneous io and discards to same block".

WRITE SAME bios are not yet handled correctly by device-mapper so
disable their use on device-mapper devices by setting
max_write_same_sectors to zero.
As an example, a ciphertext device is incompatible because the data
gets changed according to the location at which it written and so the
dm crypt target cannot support it.

Abort dm ioctl processing if userspace changes the data_size parameter
after we validated it but before we finished copying the data buffer
from userspace.
The dm ioctl parameters are processed in the following sequence:
1. ctl_ioctl() calls copy_params();
2. copy_params() makes a first copy of the fixed-sized portion of the
userspace parameters into the local variable "tmp";
3. copy_params() then validates tmp.data_size and allocates a new
structure big enough to hold the complete data and copies the whole
userspace buffer there;
4. ctl_ioctl() reads userspace data the second time and copies the whole
buffer into the pointer "param";
5. ctl_ioctl() reads param->data_size without any validation and stores it
in the variable "input_param_size";
6. "input_param_size" is further used as the authoritative size of the
kernel buffer.
The problem is that userspace code could change the contents of user
memory between steps 2 and 4. In particular, the data_size parameter
can be changed to an invalid value after the kernel has validated it.
This lets userspace force the kernel to access invalid kernel memory.
The fix is to ensure that the size has not changed at step 4.
This patch shouldn't have a security impact because CAP_SYS_ADMIN is
required to run this code, but it should be fixed anyway.

We found a user code which was raising a divide-by-zero trap. That trap
would lead to XPC connections between system-partitions being torn down
due to the die_chain notifier callouts it received.
This also revealed a different issue where multiple callers into
xpc_die_deactivate() would all attempt to do the disconnect in parallel
which would sometimes lock up but often overwhelm the console on very
large machines as each would print at least one line of output at the
end of the deactivate.
I reviewed all the users of the die_chain notifier and changed the code
to ignore the notifier callouts for reasons which will not actually lead
to a system to continue on to call die().

Revert commit 2830a6d201.
We already perform the ida_simple_remove() in rtc_device_release(),
which is an appropriate place. Commit 2830a6d20 ("rtc: recycle id when
unloading a rtc driver") caused the kernel to emit
ida_remove called for id=0 which is not allocated.
warnings when rtc_device_release() tries to release an alread-released
ID.
Let's restore things to their previous state and then work out why
Vincent's kernel wasn't calling rtc_device_release() - presumably a bug
in a specific sub-driver.

The right dmi version is in SMBIOS if it's zero in DMI region
This issue was originally found from an oracle bug.
One customer noticed system UUID doesn't match between dmidecode & uek2.

From SMBIOS 2.6 on, spec use little-endian encoding for UUID other than
network byte order.
So we need to get dmi version to distinguish. If version is 0.0, the
real version is taken from the SMBIOS version. This is part of original
kernel comment in code.

As of version 2.6 of the SMBIOS specification, the first 3 fields of the
UUID are supposed to be little-endian encoded.
Also a minor fix to match variable meaning and mute checkpatch.pl

A few new features this merge-window. The most important one is
probably, that dma-debug now warns if a dma-handle is not checked with
dma_mapping_error by the device driver. This requires minor changes to
some architectures which make use of dma-debug. Most of these changes
have the respective Acks by the Arch-Maintainers.
Besides that there are updates to the AMD IOMMU driver for refactor the
IOMMU-Groups support and to make sure it does not trigger a hardware
erratum.
The OMAP changes (for which I pulled in a branch from Tony Lindgren's
tree) have a conflict in linux-next with the arm-soc tree. The conflict
is in the file arch/arm/mach-omap2/clock44xx_data.c which is deleted in
the arm-soc tree. It is safe to delete the file too so solve the
conflict. Similar changes are done in the arm-soc tree in the common
clock framework migration. A missing hunk from the patch in the IOMMU
tree will be submitted as a seperate patch when the merge-window is

The dma_pte_free_pagetable() function will only free a page table page
if it is asked to free the *entire* 2MiB range that it covers. So if a
page table page was used for one or more small mappings, it's likely to
end up still present in the page tables... but with no valid PTEs.
This was fine when we'd only be repopulating it with 4KiB PTEs anyway
but the same virtual address range can end up being reused for a
*large-page* mapping. And in that case were were trying to insert the
large page into the second-level page table, and getting a complaint
from the sanity check in __domain_mapping() because there was already a
corresponding entry. This was *relatively* harmless; it led to a memory
leak of the old page table page, but no other ill-effects.
Fix it by calling dma_pte_clear_range (hopefully redundant) and
dma_pte_free_pagetable() before setting up the new large page.

The mmap offset structure is not part of the drm/i915 code, but
provided by gem helpers. To avoid leaky abstractions (by either
depending upon implementation details of said helper wrt to
preallocations, or reimplementing it in our code and so fuzzing
around in internal details of that helpr) simply disable
the shrinker lock stealing accross calls into the helper functions.
This should fix igt/gem_tiled_swapping.

drm/i915: Borrow our struct_mutex for the direct reclaim
added a nice trick to steal the struct_mutex lock in the shrinker if
it's the current task holding it. But this also caused the requirement
that every place which allocates memory needs to be careful about the
gem state of objects, since the shrinker could have pulled the rug out
from under it. We've usually solved this by carefully preallocating
things or ensure that buffers are pinned already.
But the shrinker also reaps mmap offset, so allocating those needs to
be careful, too. Now that code has been factored out into some common
helpers, so either we have fragile code depending upon the common
helper not doing something we don't want it to do. Or we need to
reimplement the mmap offset creation and so also leak implementation
details into our code.
Since this all results in leaky abstraction, cop out by disabling the
lock borrowing trick while calling down into the helpers. That way our
craziness is nicely confined to files in drm/i915.

Retries active opens for INUSE errors.
Logs any active ofld_connect_wr error replies.
Sends ofld_connect_wr on same ctrlq. It needs to go on the same control txq as
regular CPL active/passive messages.
Retries on active open replies with EADDRINUSE.
Uses active open fw wr only if active filter region is set.
Adds stat for ofld_connect_wr failures.
This patch also adds debugfs file to show endpoints.

It establishes passive open connection through firmware work request. Passive
open connection will go through this path as now instead of listening server we
create a server filter which will redirect the incoming SYN packet to the
offload queue. After this driver tries to establish the connection using
firmware work request.

It enables establishing active open connection using fw_ofld_connection work
request when cpl_act_open_rpl says TCAM full error which may be because
of LE hash collision. Current support is only for IPv4 active open connections.
Sets ntuple bits in active open requests. For T4 firmware greater than 1.4.10.0
ntuple bits are required to be set.
Adds nocong and enable_ecn module parameter options.

We never really clarified if unmap could be done in atomic context.
But since mapping might require sleeping, this implies mutex in use
to synchronize mapping/unmapping, so unmap could sleep as well. Add
a might_sleep() to clarify this.

radeon_fence_wait_empty_locked should not trigger GPU reset as no
place where it's call from would benefit from such thing and it
actually lead to a kernel deadlock in case the reset is triggered
from pm codepath. Instead force ring completion in place where it
makes sense or return early in others.

When building without device tree support (for the mv78x00 SoCs for
example), the build failed because of_irq_count is undeclared. However
mvebu-gpio is not designed to build without device tree support. So
make it depends on OF_CONFIG, remove the #ifdef OF_CONFIG line and the
platform_device_id.
Tested on RD-78x00-mASA, DB-78460-BP, DB-88F6710-BP-DDR3,
DB-MV784MP-GP, Mirabox and OpenBlocks AX3.

With commit c7d3df3 "mei: use internal watchdog device registration
tracking" will crash the kernel on shutdown path on systems
where ME watchdog is not present.
Since the watchdog was never initialized in such case
the WDOG_UNREGISTERED bit is never set and the system
crashes on access to uninitialized variables down the path.
To solve the issue we query for NULL on watchdog driver driver_data
to check whether the device is registered. This is handled in the
driver and doesn't depend on watchdog core internals.

The current sp5100_tco driver only supports SP5100/SB7x0 chipset, doesn't
support SB8x0 chipset, because current sp5100_tco driver doesn't know that the
offset address for watchdog timer was changed from SB8x0 chipset.

address (for example, 0xbafe00) from wrong offset address, and the following

With this patch, sp5100_tco driver supports SB8x0 chipset, and can avoid
iomem resource conflict. The processing of this patch is as follows.
Step 1) Attempt to get the watchdog base address from indirect I/O (0xCD6
and 0xCD7).
- Go to the step 7 if obtained address hasn't conflicted with other
resource. But, currently, the address (0xfec000f0) conflicts with the
IOAPIC MMIO address, and the following message is logged.
SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use
0xfec000f0 is recommended by AMD BIOS Developer's Guide. So, go to the
next step.
Step 2) Attempt to get the SBResource_MMIO base address from AcpiMmioEN (for
SB8x0, PM_Reg:24h) or SBResource_MMIO (SP5100/SB7x0, PCI_Reg:9Ch)
register.
- Go to the step 7 if these register has enabled by BIOS, and obtained
address hasn't conflicted with other resource.
- If above condition isn't true, go to the next step.
Step 3) Attempt to get the free MMIO address from allocate_resource().
- Go to the step 7 if these register has enabled by BIOS, and obtained
address hasn't conflicted with other resource.
- Driver initialization has failed if obtained address has conflicted
with other resource, and no 'force_addr' parameter is specified.
Step 4) Use the specified address If 'force_addr' parameter is specified.
- allocate_resource() function may fail, when the PCI bridge device occupies
iomem resource from 0xf0000000 to 0xffffffff. To handle such a case,
I added 'force_addr' parameter to sp5100_tco driver. With 'force_addr'
parameter, sp5100_tco driver directly can assign MMIO address for watchdog
timer from free iomem region. Note that It's dangerous to specify wrong
address in the 'force_addr' parameter.

- Driver initialization has failed if specified address has conflicted
with other resource.
Step 5) Disable the watchdog timer
- To rewrite the watchdog timer register of the chipset, absolutely
guarantee that the watchdog timer is disabled.
Step 6) Re-program the watchdog timer MMIO address to chipset.
- Re-program the obtained MMIO address in Step 3 or Step 4 to chipset via
indirect I/O (0xCD6 and 0xCD7).
Step 7) Enable and setup the watchdog timer
This patch has worked fine on my test environment (ASUS M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3 and
DL165G7). therefore I believe that it's no problem to re-program the MMIO
address for watchdog timer to chipset during disabled watchdog. However,
I'm not sure about it, because I don't know much about chipset programming.

Convert omap_wdt to new watchdog core. On OMAP boards, there are usually
multiple watchdogs. Since the new watchdog core supports multiple
watchdogs, all watchdog drivers used on OMAP should be converted.
The legacy watchdog device node is still created, so this should not
break existing users.

With device tree support in place, we should not use IMX_HAVE_PLATFORM_IMX2_WDT
as a dependency for selecting the imx2_wdt driver.
Use ARCH_MXC symbol instead, so that the driver can be even selected by a device-tree
only SoC, such as i.MX6.

As a first step towards migrating davinci platforms to use common clock
framework, replace all instances of clk_enable() with clk_prepare_enable()
and clk_disable() with clk_disable_unprepare(). Until the platform is
switched to use the CONFIG_HAVE_CLK_PREPARE Kconfig variable, this just
adds a might_sleep() call and would work without any issues.
This will make it easy later to switch to common clk based implementation
of clk driver from DaVinci specific driver.

Clk_prepare_enable and clk_disable_unprepare combine clk_prepare and
clk_enable, and clk_disable and clk_unprepare. They make the code more
concise, and ensure that clk_unprepare is called when clk_enable fails.

Extend support for reporting and selecting PECI temperature sensors
to IT8718, IT8720, IT8782, and IT8783. For IT8721, report the sensor

IT8721 and IT8728 support Intel PECI temperature reporting. Each sensor
can be programmed to display the temperature reported on the PECI interface.
If configured for Intel PECI, the driver reported the wrong sensor type for
the respective thermal sensor. Fix the code to correctly report it as
"Intel PECI (6)".

The macro name show_sensor_offset is confusing since it related to the sensor
type, not an offset - even more so when we introduce offset attributes later on.
Replace it with direct definitions, and replace the show_sensor/set_sensor
function names with show_temp_type/set_temp_type. This also resolves a
checkpatch error.

A deeper analysis of the code shows that these are false positives, as
only the lower 3 bits of data->have_temp_offset can be set so the
write is never attempted with i >= 3. However this shows that the code
isn't very robust and future changes could easily introduce a buffer
overflow. So let's add a safety check to prevent that and make smatch
happy.

Only the W83627HF could be accessed through I2C. All other supported
chips are LPC-only, so they do not have I2C address registers. Don't

On suspend some register values are lost, most notably the Value RAM
areas but also other limits. Restore them on resume. On top of that,
some fixups are needed to work around BIOS bugs, in particular when
the BIOS omits running the same initialization sequence on resume
that it does after boot. In that case we have to carry initialization
over suspend.

The ksz884x driver does receive processing in a custom tasklet, and
seems to be assuming that since it takes its private interface spinlock
with spin_lock_irq(), it won't be running concurrently with its own
interrupt handler, as it cannot be preempted by it, but since its
interrupt handler doesn't do any locking whatsoever, the receive
processing tasklet and interrupt handler can end up running concurrently
on different CPUs.
As a result of this, the ksz884x receive path ends up locking up fairly
easily, when the receive processing tasklet's reenabling of receive
interrupts (due to it being done with polling the receive ring) races
with the interrupt handler's disabling of receive interrupts (due to a
new receive interrupt coming in) resulting in the receive interrupt
being masked but the receive processing tasklet not being scheduled.
Fix this by making the ksz884x interrupt handler take its private
interface spinlock. This requires upgrading the spin_lock() in the
transmit cleanup tasklet to a spin_lock_irq(), as otherwise the IRQ
handler can preempt transmit cleanup and deadlock the system, but
with those two changes, no more receive lockups have been observed.

Device managed flow steering will be enabled only under administrator
directive provided through setting the existing module parameter
log_num_mgm_entry_size to -1 (if the device actually supports flow
steering). If flow steering isn't requested or not available, the
driver will use the value of log_num_mgm_entry_size and B0 steering.

Separate flow steering capability detection from the decision to activate.
For the master (and for native), detect the flow steering capability
in mlx4_dev_cap, but activate the appropriate steering type in a new
function choose_flow_steering() based on detected data.
For VFs, activate flow steering based on what was actually activated
by the master, where that info is obtained via QUERY_HCA. This fixes
the current VF detection which is wrongly based on QUERY_DEV_CAP.
Also, for SR-IOV mode, if flow steering may be activated, do so only
if the max number of QPs per rule is sufficient to satisfy one
subscription per VF. If not, fall back to B0 mode. This is needed to
serve registrations done by L2 network drivers such as mlx4_en and
IPoIB when the network stack attempts to join to multicast groups such
as all-hosts or the IPoIB broadcast group.

Since VFs may be mapped to VMs which aren't trusted entities, flow
steering rules attached through the wrapper on behalf of VFs must be
checked to make sure that the specified QP number is assigned to that
VF. Also, make sure to keep the QP busy till the end of the operation
from the resource tracker point of view.

It supports establishing passive open connection through firmware filter work
request. Passive open connection will go through this path as now instead of
listening server we create a server filter which will redirect the incoming SYN
packet to the offload queue.
It divides filter region into regular filters and server filter portion. It
introduces new server filter region which will be exclusively used for creating
server filters. This region will not overlap with regular filter region.
It provides new API cxgb4_alloc_sftid in LLD for getting stid in case of LE
hash collision path. This new stid will be used to open server filter in the
filter region.

The T4 architecture is capable of filtering ingress packets at line rate
using the rule in TCAM. If packet hits a rule in the TCAM then it can be either
dropped or passed to the receive queues based on a rule settings.
This patch adds framework for managing filters and to use T4's filter
capabilities. It constructs a Firmware Filter Work Request which writes the
filter at a specified index to get the work done. It hosts shadow copy of
ingress filter entry to check field size limitations and save memory in the
case where the filter table is large.

Currently, IPoIB delays collecting send completions for TX packets in
order to batch work more efficiently. It does skb_orphan() right after
queuing the packets so that destructors run early, to avoid problems
like holding socket send buffers for too long (since we might not
collect a send completion until a long time after the packet is
actually sent).
However, IPoIB clears IFF_XMIT_DST_RELEASE because it actually looks
at skb_dst() to update the PMTU when it gets a too-long packet. This
means that the packets sitting in the TX ring with uncollected send
completions are holding a reference on the dst. We've seen this lead
to pathological behavior with respect to route and neighbour GC. The
easy fix for this is to call skb_dst_drop() when we call skb_orphan().
Also, give packets sent via connected mode (CM) the same skb_orphan()
/ skb_dst_drop() treatment that packets sent via datagram mode get.

A new driver has been added for the SPEAr platform and the TWL4030/6030
driver has been replaced by two drivers that control the regular PWMs
and the PWM driven LEDs provided by the chips.
The vt8500, tiecap, tiehrpwm, i.MX, LPC32xx and Samsung drivers have all
been improved and the device tree bindings now support the PWM signal
polarity.

Some broken systems (like HP nc6120) in some cases, usually after LID
close/open, enable VGA plane, making display unusable (black screen on LVDS,
some strange mode on VGA output). We used to disable VGA plane only once at
startup. Now we also check, if VGA plane is still disabled while changing
mode, and fix that if something changed it.

created a new static inline of_find_matching_node() wrapper around the
new name. However, the change neglected to change the EXPORT_SYMBOL()
reference causing build errors for modules.

Beside imx6q, the kernel built from imx_v6_v7_defconfig is also
supposed to be running on other IMX SoCs that do not have the PTP
block. Before fec driver gets fixed to run-time detect target hardware
rather than conditional compiling with #ifdef CONFIG_FEC_PTP, let's
give it a quick fix in Kconfig to forbid FEC_PTP on those IMX SoCs that
do not support PTP.

The RX CQ can report completions with invalid frag_idx when the RXQ that
was *previously* using it, was not cleaned up properly. This hits
a BUG_ON() in be2net.
When completion coalescing is enabled on a CQ, an explicit CQ-notify
(with rearm) is needed for each compl, to flush partially coalesced CQ
entries that are pending DMA.
In be_close(), this fix now notifies CQ for each compl, waits explicitly
for the flush compl to arrive and complains if it doesn't arrive.
Also renaming be_crit_error() to be_hw_error() as it's the more
appropriate name and to convey that we don't wait for the flush compl
only when a HW error has occurred.

In be_close(), be_eq_clean() must be called after all RX/TX/MCC queues
have been cleaned to ensure that any events caused while cleaning up
completions are notified/acked. Not clearing all events can cause
upredictable behaviour when RX rings are re-created in the subsequent
be_open().

As we may reap neighbouring objects in order to free up pages for
allocations, we need to be careful not to allocate in the middle of the
drm_mm manager. To accomplish this, we can simply allocate the
drm_mm_node up front and then use the combined search & insert
drm_mm routines, reducing our code footprint in the process.

This piece of neat lore has been ported painstakingly and bug-for-bug
compatible from the old crtc helper code.
Imo it's utter nonsense.
If you disconnected a cable and before you reconnect it, userspace (or
the kernel) does an set_crtc call, this will result in that connector
getting disabled. Which will result in a nice black screen when
plugging in the cable again.
There's absolutely no reason the kernel does such policy enforcements
- if userspace tries to set up a mode on something disconnected we
might fail loudly (since the dp link training fails), but silently
adjusting the output configuration behind userspace's back is a recipe
for disaster. Specifically I think that this could explain some of our
MI_WAIT hangs around suspend, where userspace issues a scanline wait
on a disable pipe. This mechanisims here could explain how that pipe
got disabled without userspace noticing.
Note that this fixes a NULL deref at BIOS takeover when the firmware
sets up a disconnected output in a clone configuration with a
connected output on the 2nd pipe: When doing the full modeset we don't
have a mode for the 2nd pipe and OOPS. On the first pipe this doesn't
matter, since at boot-up the fbdev helpers will set up the choosen
configuration on that on first. Since this is now the umptenth bug
around handling this imo brain-dead semantics correctly, I think it's
time to kill it and see whether there's any userspace out there which
relies on this.
It also nicely demonstrates that we have a tiny window where DP
hotplug can still kill the driver.

Add a simple serial connection driver called
VIRTIO_ID_RPROC_SERIAL (11) for communicating with a
remote processor in an asymmetric multi-processing
configuration.
This implementation reuses the existing virtio_console
implementation, and adds support for DMA allocation
of data buffers and disables use of tty console and
the virtio control queue.

Refactoring the splice functionality by unifying the approach for
sending scatter-lists and regular buffers. This simplifies
buffer handling and reduces code size. Splice will now allocate
a port_buffer and send_buf() and free_buf() can always be used
for any buffer.

When the resource_size_t is 64-bit long, the sscanf() on
the virtio device command line paramter string may return
wrong value because its format was defined as "%u". Fixed
by using an intermediate local value of a known length.
Also added cleaned up the resource creation and added extra
comments to make the parameters parsing easier to follow.

Avoid the more cpu expensive kzalloc when allocating buffers.
Originally kzalloc was intended for isolating the guest from
the host by not sending random guest data to the host. But device
isolation is not yet in place so kzalloc is not really needed.

Now we can easily use vq->num_free to determine if there are descriptors
left in the queue, we're about to change virtqueue_add_buf() to return 0
on success. The virtio_net driver is the only one which actually uses

Capacity math on ring full is wrong: we are
looking at num_sg but that might be optimistic
because of indirect buffer use.
The implementation also penalizes fast path
with extra memory accesses for the benefit of
ring full condition handling which is slow path.
It's easy to query ring capacity so let's do just that.
This change also makes it easier to move vnet header
for tx around as follow-up patch does.

The purpose of this renaming is to prevent some kernel developers from
assuming that prandom32() and random32() might imply that only
prandom32() was the one using a pseudo-random number generator by
prandom32's "p", and the result may be a very embarassing security
exposure. This concern was expressed by Theodore Ts'o.
And furthermore, I'm going to introduce new functions for getting the
requested number of pseudo-random bytes. If I continue to use both
prandom32 and random32 prefixes for these functions, the confusion
is getting worse.
As a result of this renaming, "prandom_" is the common prefix for
pseudo-random number library.
Currently, srandom32() and random32() are preserved because it is
difficult to rename too many users at once.

By default, the aoe driver uses any ethernet interface for AoE, but the
aoe_iflist module parameter provides a convenient way to limit AoE
traffic to a specific list of local network interfaces.
This change allows a list to be specified using the comma character as a
separator. For example,
modprobe aoe aoe_iflist=eth2,eth3
Before, it was inconvenient to get the quoting right in shell scripts
when setting aoe_iflist to have more than one network interface.

With this change, the aoe driver treats the value zero as special for
the aoe_deadsecs module parameter. Normally, this value specifies the
number of seconds during which the driver will continue to attempt
retransmits to an unresponsive AoE target. After aoe_deadsecs has
elapsed, the aoe driver marks the aoe device as "down" and fails all
I/O.
The new meaning of an aoe_deadsecs of zero is for the driver to
retransmit commands indefinitely.

Many AoE targets have four or fewer network ports, but some existing
storage devices have many, and the AoE protocol sets no limit.
This patch allows the use of more than eight remote MAC addresses per AoE
target, while reducing the amount of memory used by the aoe driver in
cases where there are many AoE targets with fewer than eight MAC addresses
each.

This change avoids a race that could result in a NULL pointer derference
following a WARNing from kobject_add_internal, "don't try to register
things with the same name in the same directory."
The problem was found with a test that forgets and discovers an
aoe device in a loop:

The race was between aoedev_flush taking aoedevs out of the devlist,
allowing a new discovery of the same AoE target to take place before the
driver gets around to calling sysfs_remove_group. Fixing that one
revealed another race between do_open and add_disk, and this patch avoids
that, too.
The fix required some care, because for flushing (forgetting) an aoedev,
some of the steps must be performed under lock and some must be able to
sleep. Also, for discovering a new aoedev, some steps might sleep.
The check for a bad aoedev pointer remains from a time when about half of
this patch was done, and it was possible for the
bdev->bd_disk->private_data to become corrupted. The check should be
removed eventually, but it is not expected to add significant overhead,
occurring in the aoeblk_open routine.

An AoE target can have multiple network ports used for AoE, and in the
aoe driver, those are tracked by the aoetgt struct. These changes allow
the aoe driver to handle network paths, or aoetgts, that are not working
well, compared to the others.
Paths that do not get responses despite the retransmission of AoE
commands are marked as "tainted", and non-tainted paths are preferred.
Meanwhile, the aoe driver attempts to "probe" the tainted path in the
background by issuing reads of LBA 0 that are padded out to full
(possibly jumbo-frame) size. If the probes get responses, then the path
is "redeemed", and its taint is removed.
This mechanism has been shown to be helpful in transparently handling
and recovering from real-world network "brown outs" in ways that the
earlier "shoot the help-needing target in the head" mechanism could not.

The value returned by the static minor device number number allocator is
the real minor number, so it must be multiplied by the supported number
of partitions per aoedev.
Without this fix the support for systems without udev is incomplete, and
the few users of aoe on such systems will have surprising results when
device nodes names do not match the AoE target.

Because the minor_get and related functions use the return values for
errors, the compiler doesn't know that sysminor will always either 1) be
initialized in aoedev_by_aoeaddr by the call to minor_get, or 2) be
unused as the "goto out" is executed.
This patch avoids the compiler warning.

The aoe driver will never be waiting for more than aoe_maxout AoE
commands from a given remote network port on an AoE target. Increasing
the cap increases performance. Users can tighten the setting to reduce
the amount of memory used for handling AoE traffic or the network
bandwidth used for AoE.

Before the aoe driver was an I/O request handler, it was a
make_request-style block driver. Even so, there was a problem where
sysfs expected a request queue to exist, so one was provided in commit
7135a71b19 ("aoe: allocate unused request_queue for sysfs").
During the transition to the request-handler style, a patch was merged
that was based on a driver without the noop queue, and the noop queue
remained in place after the patch was merged, even though a new
functional queue was introduced by the patch, allocated through
blk_init_queue.
The user impact is a memory leak proportional to the number of AoE
targets discovered. This patch removes the memory leak and cleans up
vestiges of the old do-nothing queue from the aoeblk_gdalloc function.

Commit f3b8e07af774 ("aoe: commands in retransmit queue use new
destination on failure") omits the copying of the coarse-grained time
when an AoE command was sent during the failover from one destination
MAC address on the AoE target to another.
The coarse-grained timing is only used when the system time changes or
an unlikely length of time has passed since the sending of the AoE
command. Users will not be impacted unless their system clock is very
inaccurate or something unusual (e.g., 10 GbE link reset) happens during
the period when the aoe driver is handling the failure of a port on the
AoE target. Being effected will mean that an AoE target could be
considered "down" too eagerly.

When one remote MAC address isn't working as a destination for AoE
commands, the frames used to track information associated with the AoE
commands are moved to a new aoetgt (defined by the tuple of {AoE major,
AoE minor, target MAC address}).
This patch makes sure that the frames on the queue for retransmits that
need to be done are updated to use the new destination, so that
retransmits will be sent through a working network path.
Without this change, packets on the retransmit queue will be needlessly
retransmitted to the unresponsive destination MAC, possibly causing
premature target failure before there's time for the retransmit timer to
run again, decide to retransmit again, and finally update the destination
to a working MAC address on the AoE target.

These changes improve the accuracy of the decision about whether it's time
to retransmit an AoE command by using the microsecond-resolution
gettimeofday instead of jiffies.
Because the system time can jump suddenly, the decision reverts to using
jiffies if the high-resolution time difference is relatively large.
Otherwise the AoE targets could be considered failed inappropriately.

With this bugfix in place the calculation of the criterion for "lateness"
is performed under lock. Without the lock, there is a chance that one of
the non-atomic operations performed on the round trip time statistics
could be incomplete, such that an incorrect lateness criterion would be
calculated.
Without this change, the effect of the bug would be rare unecessary but
benign retransmissions.

The /dev/etherd/err character device provides low-level information about
normal but sometimes interesting AoE command retransmits and "unexpected
responses", i.e., responses for packets that have already been
retransmitted.
This change adds MAC addresses to the messages about unexpected responses,
so that when they occur, it's more easy to determine the network paths to
which they belong.

The aoe driver already had some congestion handling, but it was limited in
its ability to cope with the kind of congestion that can arise on more
complex networks such as those involving paths through multiple ethernet
switches.
Some of the lessons from TCP's history of development can be applied to
improving the congestion control and avoidance on AoE storage networks.
These changes use familar concepts from Van Jacobson's "Congestion
Avoidance and Control" paper from '88, without adding significant
overhead.
This patch depends on an upcoming patch that covers the failover case when
AoE commands being retransmitted are transferred from one retransmit queue
to another. Another upcoming patch increases the timing accuracy.

The userland aoetools package includes an "aoe-stat" command that can
display a "payload size" column when the aoe driver exports this
information. Users can quickly see what amount of user data is
transferred inside each AoE command on the network, network headers
excluded.

The GPFS filesystem is an example of an aoe user that requires the aoe
driver to support I/O request sizes larger than the default. Most users
will not need large I/O request sizes, because they would need to be split
up into multiple AoE commands anyway.

Users sometimes want to cause the aoe driver to forget a particular
previously discovered device when it is no longer online. The aoetools
provide an "aoe-flush" command that users run to perform this
administrative task. The changes below provide the support needed in the
driver.

The ATA over Ethernet config query response contains a "buffer count"
field reflecting the AoE target's capacity to buffer incoming AoE
commands.
By taking the current value of this field into accound, we increase
performance throughput or avoid network congestion, when the value
has increased or decreased, respectively.

Enabling RTC HW block depends on the default value of TPS65910 register.
In some mode, RTC block is disabled by default.(eg. AM3517 Craneboard) In
this case, RTC_PWDN(RTC power down) bit should be cleared to enable the
RTC HW block.
This patch also works in case that RTC block is active by default, because
there is no side effect even if the bit is updated again.
Tested on AM3517 Craneboard.

rtc-s3c driver is modified to use devm_request_and_ioremap() (combining
request_mem_region and ioremap), devm_clk_get() and devm_request_irq()
APIs. Since this removes the necessity of freeing the related resources
the return path is also simplified.

The applications can set the RTC hardware to trigger interrupts in one
of three modes:
* AIE: Alarm interrupt
* UIE: Update interrupt (ie: once per second)
* PIE: Periodic interrupt (sub-second irqs)
The above defined 3 modes are to be supported in the RTC HW in form of
interrupts. The SPEAr RTC hardware does not support the later two modes.
There have been refinements in the RTC core in mainline related to
use of timer queue infrastructure to manage events in RTC. Please refer
the below mentioned patch for details:

There have been provisions added to support hardware that do not have
support the UIE mode. Please refer the following patch.

OMAP1 RTC driver is used in multiple devices like, OMAPL138 and AM33XX.
Driver currently doesn't handle any clocks, which may be right for OMAP1
architecture but in case of AM33XX, the clock/module needs to be enabled
in order to access the registers.
So convert this driver to runtime pm, which internally handles rest.

OMAP RTC IP can have kicker feature. This prevents spurious writes to
register. To write to registers kicker lock has to be released.
Procedure to do it as follows,
1. write to kick0 register, 0x83e70b13
2. write to kick1 register, 0x95a4f1e0
Writing value other than 0x83e70b13 to kick0 enables write locking, more
details about kicker mechanism can be found in section 20.3.3.5.3 of
AM335X TRM @www.ti.com/am335x
Here id table information is added and is used to distinguish those that
require kicker handling and the ones that doesn't need it. There are more
features in the newer IP's compared to legacy ones other than kicker,
which driver currently doesn't handle, supporting additional features
would be easier with the addition of id table.
Older IP (of OMAP1) doesn't have revision register as per TRM, so revision
register can't be relied always to find features, hence id table is being
used.
While at it, replace __raw_writeb/__raw_readb with writeb/readb; this
driver is used on ARMv7 (AM335X SoC)

Akita machines have backlight controls hooked to a gpio expander chip,
max7310 using i2c transfers which can sleep. In this case,
pca953x_gpio_set_value() can be called to control gpio, and
pca953x_setup_gpio() sets can_sleep flag. Therefore,
gpio_set_value_cansleep() should be used in order to avoid WARN_ON on
akita machines.
Akita is the only exception in this case since other users of corgi_lcd
access backlight gpio controls through a different gpio expander which
does not set the can_sleep flag.

GPIOF_DIR_OUT and GPIOF_DIR_IN are defined as below:

The mutex for accessing lp855x registers is used in case of the user-space
interaction. When the brightness is changed via sysfs, the mutex is
required. But the backlight class device already provides it. Thus, the
lp855x mutex is unnecessary.

The LP855x family devices support the PWM input for the backlight control.
Period of the PWM is configurable in the platform side. Platform
specific functions are unnecessary anymore because generic PWM functions
are used inside the driver.
(PWM input mode)
To set the brightness, new lp855x_pwm_ctrl() is used.
If a PWM device is not allocated, devm_pwm_get() is called.
The PWM consumer name is from the chip name such as 'lp8550' and 'lp8556'.
To get the brightness value, no additional handling is required.
Just the value of 'props.brightness' is returned.
If the PWM driver is not ready while initializing the LP855x driver, it's
OK. The PWM device can be retrieved later, when the brightness value is
changed.
Documentation is updated with an example.

This patch replaces the usage of these string functions in the musb

Pull user namespace changes from Eric Biederman:
"While small this set of changes is very significant with respect to
containers in general and user namespaces in particular. The user
space interface is now complete.
This set of changes adds support for unprivileged users to create user
namespaces and as a user namespace root to create other namespaces.
The tyranny of supporting suid root preventing unprivileged users from
using cool new kernel features is broken.
This set of changes completes the work on setns, adding support for
the pid, user, mount namespaces.
This set of changes includes a bunch of basic pid namespace
cleanups/simplifications. Of particular significance is the rework of
the pid namespace cleanup so it no longer requires sending out
tendrils into all kinds of unexpected cleanup paths for operation. At
least one case of broken error handling is fixed by this cleanup.
The files under /proc/<pid>/ns/ have been converted from regular files
to magic symlinks which prevents incorrect caching by the VFS,
ensuring the files always refer to the namespace the process is
currently using and ensuring that the ptrace_mayaccess permission
checks are always applied.
The files under /proc/<pid>/ns/ have been given stable inode numbers
so it is now possible to see if different processes share the same
namespaces.
Through the David Miller's net tree are changes to relax many of the
permission checks in the networking stack to allowing the user
namespace root to usefully use the networking stack. Similar changes
for the mount namespace and the pid namespace are coming through my
tree.
Two small changes to add user namespace support were commited here adn
in David Miller's -net tree so that I could complete the work on the
/proc/<pid>/ns/ files in this tree.
Work remains to make it safe to build user namespaces and 9p, afs,
ceph, cifs, coda, gfs2, ncpfs, nfs, nfsd, ocfs2, and xfs so the
Kconfig guard remains in place preventing that user namespaces from
being built when any of those filesystems are enabled.
Future design work remains to allow root users outside of the initial
user namespace to mount more than just /proc and /sys."

wireless: allow Atheros card to not depend on ath.ko
Commit in question changed CONFIG_ATH_COMMON to CONFIG_ATH_CARDS as
"Atheros card" indication in drivers/net/wireless/ath/Kconfig but it
is used also by drivers/net/wireless/Makefile
If there are only Atheros cards that do not require ATH_COMMON, whole
Makefile for Atheros cards was not executed; and as result, driver
won't compile in this case.
Change in CONFIG_ option name should be reflected in the
drivers/net/wireless/Makefile

In commit 'mac80211: support radiotap vendor namespace RX data'
new fields were added to 'struct ieee80211_rx_status' and those
fileds must be zeroed. However the rt2x00 driver stores driver
specific data in the cb array of the rx skbs, so the fields
might contain garbage and this can cause unexpected behaviour.
The rt2x00 driver from the compat-wireless-2012-12-01
tarball caused the following warning:

Commit 499744209b (tuntap: dont use skb after netif_rx_ni(skb))
introduced another bug.
skb_get_rxhash() needs to access the network header, and it was
set for us in netif_rx_ni().
We need to reset network header or else skb_flow_dissect() behavior
is out of control.

The cpu_is_omap macros are now local to arch/arm/mach-omap2
in soc.h and plat/cpu.h can finally be dropped for omap2+.
Thanks everybody for help with fixing the drivers.
Note that we can now also remove the unused plat/cpu.h from
smartreflex.c and isp.c as they will cause compile errors
with ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM enabled.

ENOTSUPP is not a standard errno (it shows up as "Unknown error 524"
in an error message). This is what was getting produced when the
the local rbd code does not implement features required by a
discovered rbd image.
Change the error code returned in this case to ENXIO.

Now that Chris Wilson demonstrated that the key for stability on early
gen 2 is to simple _never_ exchange the physical backing storage of
batch buffers I've tried a stab at a kernel solution. Doesn't look too
nefarious imho, now that I don't try to be too clever for my own good
any more.
v2: After discussing the various techniques, we've decided to always blit
batches on the suspect devices, but allow userspace to opt out of the
kernel workaround assume full responsibility for providing coherent
batches. The principal reason is that avoiding the blit does improve
performance in a few key microbenchmarks and also in cairo-trace
replays.

I'm not really sure, since the w/a entry is as thin on details as
ever, and Bspec doesn't say anything about it. But I've figured only
dispatching to rows 0&1 instead of all four should be the right thing

RBD_MAX_SEG_NAME_LEN represents the maximum length of an rbd object
name (i.e., one of the objects providing storage backing an rbd
image).
Another symbol, MAX_OBJ_NAME_SIZE, is used in the osd client code to
define the maximum length of any object name in an osd request.
Right now they disagree, with RBD_MAX_SEG_NAME_LEN being too big.
There's no real benefit at this point to defining the rbd object
name length limit separate from any other object name, so just
get rid of RBD_MAX_SEG_NAME_LEN and use MAX_OBJ_NAME_SIZE in its
place.

There is no check in rbd_remove() to see if anybody holds open the
image being removed. That's not cool.
Add a simple open count that goes up and down with opens and closes
(releases) of the device, and don't allow an rbd image to be removed
if the count is non-zero.
Protect the updates of the open count value with ctl_mutex to ensure
the underlying rbd device doesn't get removed while concurrently
being opened.

If we elect to disable self-refresh as they require too many FIFO
entries, clear the values prior to writing them into the registers. If
they are too large they may occupy more bits than available and so
corrupt neighbouring WM values.

This patch check difference value between current voltage of battery and
desc->fullbatt_uV whether positve or negative number. If difference value
is negative number when current voltage of battery is larger than
desc->fullbatt_uV, charger-manager return immediately because battery is
fully charged.

This patch fix bug related to checking fully charged state of battery when
charger-manager call is_full_charged() function. After reading property of
charger/fuel-gauge through power_supply API, val.intval is more than 1.
So, is_full_charged() function always return true. If true, battery means
fully charged state.
