We've been moving away from add_interrupt_randomness() for various
reasons: it's too expensive to do on every interrupt, and flooding the
CPU with interrupts could theoretically cause bogus floods of entropy
from a somewhat externally controllable source.
This solves both problems by limiting the actual randomness addition
to just once a second or after 64 interrupts, whicever comes first.
During that time, the interrupt cycle data is buffered up in a per-cpu
pool. Also, we make sure the the nonblocking pool used by urandom is
initialized before we start feeding the normal input pool. This
assures that /dev/urandom is returning unpredictable data as soon as
possible.

device_init_wakeup uses the dev_name() of the device to set the
name of the wakeup_source which appears in
/sys/kernel/debug/wakeup_sources.
For a platform device, that name is not set until platform_device_add
calls dev_set_name.
So the call to device_init_wakeup() must be after the call to
platform_device_add().
Making this change causes correct names to appear in the
wakeup_sources file.

'ARM: OMAP3: USB: Fix the EHCI ULPI PHY reset issue' (1fcb57d0) fixes
an issue where the ULPI PHYs were not held in reset while initializing
the EHCI controller. However, it also changes behavior in
omap-usb-host.c omap_usbhs_init by releasing reset while the
configuration in that function was done.
This change caused a regression on BB-xM where USB would not function

made to release reset a little bit earlier which fixed the issue on

The MC13xxx PMIC is mainly used on i.Mx SoC. On those SoC the SPI
hardware will deassert CS line as soon as the SPI FIFO is empty.
The MC13xxx hardware is very sensitive to CS line change as it
corrupts the transfer if CS is deasserted in the middle of a register
read or write.
It is not possible to use the CS line as a GPIO on some SoC, so we
need to workaround this by implementing a single SPI transfer to

As the AB8500 is a subordinate MFD device to the DB8500-PRCMU,
for consistency and a better 1:1 depiction of how the hardware

Since none of the users now reference the cache directly we can happily
remove the custom cache code and rely on the regmap cache.
For simplicity we don't bother with the register defaults tables but
instead read the defaults from the device - regmap is capable of doing
this, unlike our old cache infrastructure. This saves a lot of code and
allows us to cache the device revision information too.

Hierarchically, the AB8500 is a child of the DB8500 PRCMU. So now that
Device Tree is being used and MFD core code is Device Tree aware, we
can simply register DB8500 PRCMU from Device Tree in the normal way
then allow the DB8500 PRCMU driver to register the AB8500 as a simple
MFD device at probe time.

During Device Tree enablement of the ab8500 and db8500-prcmu drivers,
a decision was made to omit registration through the MFD API and use
Device Tree directly. However, because MFD devices have a different
address space and the ab8500 and db8500 both use I2C to communicate,
this causes issues with address translation during execution of
of_platform_populate(). So the solution is to make the MFD core aware
of Device Tree and have it assign the correct node pointers instead.
To make this work the MFD core also needs to be awere of IRQ domains,
as Device Tree insists on IRQ domain compatibility. So, instead of
providing an irq-base via platform code, in the DT case we simply
look up the IRQ domain and map to the correct virtual IRQ.

There is only one method used to communicate with the DB8500 PRCMU, via I2C.
Now this can be assumed, there is no requirement to specify the protocol in

generic naming convention.

It is not possible to use the CS line as a GPIO on some SoC, so we
need to workaround this by implementing a single SPI transfer to
access the PMIC.

This is the first big chunk for 3.5 merges of sound stuff.
There are a few big changes in different areas. First off, the
streaming logic of USB-audio endpoints has been largely rewritten
for the better support of "implicit feedback". If anything about USB
got broken, this change has to be checked.
For HD-audio, the resume procedure was changed; instead of delaying
the resume of the hardware until the first use, now waking up immediately
at resume. This is for buggy BIOS.
For ASoC, dynamic PCM support and the improved support for digital links
between off-SoC devices are major framework changes.
Some highlights are below:
* HD-audio
- Avoid the accesses of invalid pin-control bits that may stall the codec
- V-ref setup cleanups
- Fix the races in power-saving code
- Fix the races in codec cache hashes and connection lists
- Split some common codes for BIOS auto-parser to hda_auto_parser.c
- Changed the PM resume code to wake up immediately for buggy BIOS
- Creative SoundCore3D support
- Add Conexant CX20751/2/3/4 codec support
* ASoC
- Dynamic PCM support, allowing support for SoCs with internal routing
through components with tight sequencing and formatting constraints
within their internal paths or where there are multiple components
connected with CPU managed DMA controllers inside the SoC.
- Greatly improved support for direct digital links between off-SoC
devices, providing a much simpler way of connecting things like digital
basebands to CODECs.
- Much more fine grained and robust locking, cleaning up some of the
confusion that crept in with multi-component.
- CPU support for nVidia Tegra 30 I2S and audio hub controllers and
ST-Ericsson MSP I2S controolers
- New CODEC drivers for Cirrus CS42L52, LAPIS Semiconductor ML26124, Texas
Instruments LM49453.
- Some regmap changes needed by the Tegra I2S driver.
- mc13783 audio support.
* Misc
- Rewrite with module_pci_driver()
- Xonar DGX support for snd-oxygen
- Improvement of packet handling in snd-firewire driver
- New USB-endpoint streaming logic
- Enhanced M-audio FTU quirks and relevant cleanups
- Increment the support of OSS devices to 256
- snd-aloop accuracy improvement
There are a few more pending changes for 3.5, but they will be
sent slightly later as partly depending on the changes of DRM.

The major thing here is the addition of some helpers to factor code out
of drivers, making a fair proportion of regulators much more just data
rather than code which is nice.
- Helpers in the core for regulators using regmap, providing generic
implementations of the enable and voltage selection operations which
just need data to describe them in the drivers.
- Split out voltage mapping and voltage setting, allowing many more
drivers to take advantage of the infrastructure for selectors.
- Loads and loads of cleanups from Axel Lin once again, including many

- New drivers for Ricoh RC5T583, TI TPS62362, TI TPS62363, TI TPS65913,

Some of the registration changes to support the core refactoring caused
so many conflicts that eventually topic branches were abandoned for this

Use irq_alloc_descs() to get the IRQ number range dynamically instead of
the hardwired use if pdata->irq_base.
The twl6040 only provides interrupts for it's internal components which
means that it is not working as an IRQ expander type of device.
The client drivers will receive their interrupt numbers as resource which

The modern idiom is to use irq_domain to allocate interrupts. This is
useful partly to allow further infrastructure to be based on the domains
and partly because it makes it much easier to allocate virtual interrupts
to devices as we don't need to allocate a contiguous range of interrupt
numbers.
Convert the wm831x driver over to this infrastructure, using a legacy
IRQ mapping if an irq_base is specified in platform data and otherwise
using a linear mapping, always registering the interrupts even if they
won't ever be used. Only boards which need to use the GPIOs as
interrupts should need to use an irq_base.
This means that we can't use the MFD irq_base management since the
unless we're using an explicit irq_base from platform data we can't rely
on a linear mapping of interrupts. Instead we need to map things via
the irq_domain - provide a conveniencem function wm831x_irq() to save a
small amount of typing when doing so. Looking at this I couldn't clearly
see anything the MFD core could do to make this nicer.
Since we're not supporting device tree yet there's no meaningful
advantage if we don't do this conversion in one, the fact that the
interrupt resources are used for repeated IP blocks makes accessor
functions for the irq_domain more trouble to do than they're worth.

This gets us up to date with the recommended current kernel infrastructure
and should transparently give us device tree interrupt bindings for any
devices using the framework. If an explicit IRQ mapping is passed in then
a legacy interrupt range is created, otherwise a simple linear mapping is
used. Previously a mapping was mandatory so existing drivers should not
be affected.
A function regmap_irq_get_virq() is provided to allow drivers to map
individual IRQs which should be used in preference to the existing
regmap_irq_chip_get_base() which is only valid if a legacy IRQ range is
provided.

The removal of mach/io.h from most ARM platforms also set the range of
valid IO ports to be empty for most platforms when previously any 32
bit integer had been valid. This makes it impossible to add IO resources
as the added range is smaller than that of the root resource for IO ports.
Since we're not really using IO memory at all fix this by defining our
own root resource outside the normal tree and make that the parent of
all IO resources. This also ensures we won't conflict with read IO ports
if we ever run on a platform which happens to use them.

It is observed that the echi ports of 3430 sdp board
are not working due to the random timing of programming
the associated GPIOs of the ULPI PHYs of the EHCI for reset.
If the PHYs are reset at during usbhs core driver, host ports will
not work because EHCI driver is loaded after the resetting PHYs.
The PHYs should be in reset state while initializing the EHCI
controller.
The code which does the GPIO pins associated with the PHYs
are programmed to reset is moved from the USB host core driver
to EHCI driver.

The AMBA bus regulator support is being used to model on/off switches
for power domains which isn't terribly idiomatic for modern kernels with
the generic power domain code and creates integration problems on platforms
which don't use regulators for their power domains as it's hard to tell
the difference between a regulator that is needed but failed to be provided
and one that isn't supposed to be there (though DT does make that easier).
Platforms that wish to use the regulator API to manage their power domains
can indirect via the power domain interface.
This feature is only used with the vape supply of the db8500 PRCMU
driver which supplies the UARTs and MMC controllers, none of which have
support for managing vcore at runtime in mainline (only pl022 SPI
controller does). Update that supply to have an always_on constraint
until the power domain support for the system is updated so that it is
enabled for these users, this is likely to have no impact on practical
systems as probably at least one of these devices will be active and
cause AMBA to hold the supply on anyway.

Merge tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system
Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells:
"Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of
separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion
dependencies.
I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can
and made sure that they don't break.
The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular
dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to
optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2().
This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in
asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h.
The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of
low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg.
memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that
aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()).
These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces:
(1) asm/barrier.h
Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha.
(2) asm/switch_to.h
Move switch_to() and related stuff here.
(3) asm/exec.h
Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits
could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h.
(4) asm/cmpxchg.h
Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and
frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg().
(5) asm/bug.h
Move die() and related bits.
(6) asm/auxvec.h
Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here.
Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis."
Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code
around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat
weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it..

"This covers platform stuff for platforms I have a direct interest in
(iow, I have the hardware). Essentially:
- as we no longer support any other Acorn platforms other than RiscPC
anymore, we can collect all that code into mach-rpc.
- convert Acorn expansion card stuff to use IRQ allocation functions,
and get rid of NO_IRQ from there.
- cleanups to the ebsa110 platform to move some private stuff out of
its header files.
- large amount of SA11x0 updates:
- conversion of private DMA implementation to DMA engine support
(this actually gives us greater flexibility in drivers over the old
API.)
- re-worked ucb1x00 updates - convert to genirq, remove sa11x0
dependencies, fix various minor issues
- move platform specific sa11x0 framebuffer data into platform files
in arch/arm instead of keeping this in the driver itself
- update sa11x0 IrDA driver for DMA engine, and allow it to use DMA
for SIR transmissions as well as FIR
- rework sa1111 support for genirq, and irq allocation
- fix sa1111 IRQ support so it works again
- use sparse IRQ support

"[RFC PATCH 0/2] audit of linux/device.h users in include/*"
https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/3/4/159
--
Nearly every subsystem has some kind of header with a proto like:
void foo(struct device *dev);
and yet there is no reason for most of these guys to care about the
sub fields within the device struct. This allows us to significantly
reduce the scope of headers including headers. For this instance, a
reduction of about 40% is achieved by replacing the include with the
simple fact that the device is some kind of a struct.
Unlike the much larger module.h cleanup, this one is simply two
commits. One to fix the implicit <linux/device.h> users, and then
one to delete the device.h includes from the linux/include/ dir
wherever possible.

twl4030 is using a two level irq controllers infrastruture.
So far, only the first level was using dynamic irq_desc allocation
to be able to have irq_domain support for device tree.
There is a need to allocate separate irq_descs for the SIH too to
avoid hacking the first level with interrupts from the second level.
Add an irq_base parameter to allow the caller to provide the base from
pdata or from dynamic allocation.
Affect TWL4030_NR_IRQS to the twl-core IRQs only.
Moreover that will allow the extraction of the of_node pointer for further
Device Tree conversion.

During DT adaptation, the irq_alloc_desc was added into twl-core, but
due to the rather different and weird IRQ management required by the twl4030,
it is much better to have a different approach for it.
The issue is that twl4030 uses a two level IRQ mechanism but handles all the
PWR interrupts as part of the twl-core interrupt range. It ends up with a
range of 16 interrupts total for CORE and PWR.
The other twl4030 functionalities already have a dedicated driver and thus
their IRQs and irqdomain can and should be defined localy.
twl6030 is using a single level IRQ controller and thus does not require any
trick.
Move the irq_alloc_desc and irq_domain_add_legacy in twl4030-irq and
twl6030-irq.
Allocate together CORE and PWR IRQs for twl4030-irq.

Card detect IRQ from the TWL6030 used to be provided to the MMC
controller code using a statically allocated IRQ scheme:
card_detect_irq = TWL6030_IRQ_BASE + MMCDETECT_INTR_OFFSET;
This is no longer valid in a SPARSE_IRQ context since there is no more
pre-defined TWL6030_IRQ_BASE.
Return the proper card detect IRQ value in the twl6030_mmc_card_detect_config
that will be called from the MMC controller.

This has been a fairly quiet release from a regulator point of view, the
only real framework features added were devm support and a convenience
helper for setting up fixed voltage regulators.
We also added a couple of drivers (but will drop the BQ240022 driver via
the arm-soc tree as it's been replaced by the more generic
gpio-regulator driver) and Axel Lin continued his relentless and
generally awesome stream of fixes and cleanups.

This branch takes the PowerPC irq_host infrastructure (reverse mapping
from Linux IRQ numbers to hardware irq numbering), generalizes it,
renames it to irq_domain, and makes it available to all architectures.
Originally the plan has been to create an all-new irq_domain
implementation which addresses some of the powerpc shortcomings such
as not handling 1:1 mappings well, but doing that proved to be far
more difficult and invasive than generalizing the working code and
refactoring it in-place. So, this branch rips out the 'new'
irq_domain and replaces it with the modified powerpc version (in a
fully bisectable way of course). It converts all users over to the
new API and makes irq_domain selectable on any architecture.
No architecture is forced to enable irq_domain, but the infrastructure
is required for doing OpenFirmware style irq translations. It will
even work on SPARC even though SPARC has it's own mechanism for
translating irqs at boot time. MIPS, microblaze, embedded x86 and c6x
are converted too.
The resulting irq_domain code is probably still too verbose and can be
optimized more, but that can be done incrementally and is a task for
follow-on patches.

This disadvantage of having it interruptible is that it would
appear to work OK in most situations, but in the rare case
that this call does fail, it can lead to misconfiguration
of the AB, such as a regulator not being turned off and
leading to a platform power consumption increase.
There's no real benefit to having this interruptible.

Using regmap apis for accessing the device registers and
using RBTREE caching mechanims for caching registers.
Enabling caching of the registers which is used for voltage
controls. By doing this, the modify_bits operation is faster as
it does not involve the i2c register read from device, just read
from cache. This results faster set voltage operation.

TWL6030 family of PMIC use a shadow interrupt status register
while kernel processes the current interrupt event.
However, any write(0 or 1) to register INT_STS_A, INT_STS_B or
INT_STS_C clears all 3 interrupt status registers.
Since clear of the interrupt is done on 32k clk, depending on I2C
bus speed, we could in-adverently clear the status of a interrupt
status pending on shadow register in the current implementation.
This is due to the fact that multi-byte i2c write operation into
three seperate status register could result in multiple load
and clear of status and result in lost interrupts.
Instead, doing a single byte write to INT_STS_A register with 0x0
will clear all three interrupt status registers without the related
risk.

There are currently four different versions of the AB8500
around: AB8500, AB8505, AB9540 and AB8540. Unfortunately:
- Some of the chips (AB8500, AB8505, AB9540) cannot read
the AB8500_REV_REG register but return errors
- Some of them have the same ID value in the hardware
register AB8500_REV_REV, for example the first versions
of AB8505 and AB9540 have 0xFF in this register -
just like the AB8500.
So we need to be able to enforce a certain version from

This patch adds an initial PRCMU register access API, which
for now should only be used for a very limited set of registers.
The idea about this API is that we split the PRCMU driver in
one part that deals with interaction with the PRCMU firmware
and one part that simply provide write accessors in the PRCMU
register range. The latter are just a collection of registers
exposed in the PRCMU register range for various purposes and
not related to the PRCMU firmware.
Currently we support some limited GPIO, SPI and UART settings
