Dan Carpenter 71c488f32b stm: Potential read overflow in stm_char_policy_set_ioctl()
The "size" variable comes from the user so we need to verify that it's
large enough to hold an stp_policy_id struct.

Here is the "big" char/misc driver patchset for 4.13-rc1.
 
 Lots of stuff in here, a large thunderbolt update, w1 driver header
 reorg, the new mux driver subsystem, google firmware driver updates, and
 a raft of other smaller things.  Full details in the shortlog.
 
 All of these have been in linux-next for a while with the only reported
 issue being a merge problem with this tree and the jc-docs tree in the
 w1 documentation area.  The fix should be obvious for what to do when it
 happens, if not, we can send a follow-up patch for it afterward.

Linus Torvalds 974668417b driver core patches for 4.13-rc1
Here is the big driver core update for 4.13-rc1.
 
 The large majority of this is a lot of cleanup of old fields in the
 driver core structures and their remaining usages in random drivers.
 All of those fixes have been reviewed by the various subsystem
 maintainers.  There's also some small firmware updates in here, a new
 kobject uevent api interface that makes userspace interaction easier,
 and a few other minor things.
 
 All of these have been in linux-next for a long while with no reported
 issues.

Leo Yan 2227b7c746 coresight: add support for CPU debug module
Coresight includes debug module and usually the module connects with CPU
debug logic. ARMv8 architecture reference manual (ARM DDI 0487A.k) has
description for related info in "Part H: External Debug".

Chapter H7 "The Sample-based Profiling Extension" introduces several
sampling registers, e.g. we can check program counter value with
combined CPU exception level, secure state, etc. So this is helpful for
analysis CPU lockup scenarios, e.g. if one CPU has run into infinite
loop with IRQ disabled. In this case the CPU cannot switch context and
handle any interrupt (including IPIs), as the result it cannot handle
SMP call for stack dump.

This patch is to enable coresight debug module, so firstly this driver
is to bind apb clock for debug module and this is to ensure the debug
module can be accessed from program or external debugger. And the driver
uses sample-based registers for debug purpose, e.g. when system triggers
panic, the driver will dump program counter and combined context
registers (EDCIDSR, EDVIDSR); by parsing context registers so can
quickly get to know CPU secure state, exception level, etc.

Some of the debug module registers are located in CPU power domain, so
this requires the CPU power domain stays on when access related debug
registers, but the power management for CPU power domain is quite
dependent on SoC integration for power management. For the platforms
which with sane power controller implementations, this driver follows
the method to set EDPRCR to try to pull the CPU out of low power state
and then set 'no power down request' bit so the CPU has no chance to
lose power.

If the SoC has not followed up this design well for power management
controller, the user should use the command line parameter or sysfs
to constrain all or partial idle states to ensure the CPU power
domain is enabled and access coresight CPU debug component safely.

Suzuki K Poulose 04c9490035 coresight: of_get_coresight_platform_data: Add missing of_node_put
The of_get_coresight_platform_data iterates over the possible CPU nodes
to find a given cpu phandle. However it does not drop the reference
to the node pointer returned by the of_get_coresight_platform_data.

This patch also introduces another minor fix is to use
of_cpu_device_node_get() to replace of_get_cpu_node().

Robin Murphy a3959c50b0 coresight: tmc: Configure DMA mask appropriately
Before making any DMA API calls, the ETR driver should really be setting
its masks to ensure that DMA is possible. Especially since it can
address more than the 32-bit default mask set by the AMBA bus code.

Suzuki K Poulose 022aa1a81b coresight: Fix reference count for software sources
For software sources (i.e STM), there could be multiple agents
generating the trace data, unlike the ETMs. So we need to
properly do the accounting for the active number of users
to disable the device when the last user goes away. Right
now, the reference counting is broken for sources as we skip
the actions when we detect that the source is enabled.

This patch fixes the problem by adding the refcounting for
software sources, even when they are enabled.

Suzuki K Poulose f73f20e1fc coresight: Disable the path only when the source is disabled
With a coresight tracing session, the components along the path
from the source to sink are disabled after the source is disabled.
However, if the source was not actually disabled due to active
users, we should not disable the components in the path.

cpuhp_setup_state_nocalls().

cpuhp_setup_state_nocalls() invokes get_online_cpus() as well. This is
correct, but prevents the conversion of the hotplug locking to a percpu
rwsem.

Use cpuhp_setup_state_nocalls_cpuslocked() to avoid the nested
call. Convert *_online_cpus() to the new interfaces while at it.

Mike Leach eeedc5421d coresight: Fixes coresight DT parse to get correct output port ID.
Corrected to get the port numbering to allow programmable replicator driver
to operate correctly.

By convention, CoreSight devices number ports, not endpoints in
the .dts files:-

}

Existing code read endpoint number - always 0x0, rather than the correct
port number.

Will Deacon f4c0b0aa58 perf/core: Keep AUX flags in the output handle
In preparation for adding more flags to perf AUX records, introduce a
separate API for setting the flags for a session, rather than appending
more bool arguments to perf_aux_output_end. This allows to set each
flag at the time a corresponding condition is detected, instead of
tracking it in each driver's private state.

Alexander Shishkin e609ccef52 intel_th: Don't leak module refcount on failure to activate
Output 'activation' may fail for the reasons of the output driver,
for example, if msc's buffer is not allocated. We forget, however,
to drop the module reference in this case. So each attempt at
activation in this case leaks a reference, preventing the module
from ever unloading.

This patch adds the missing module_put() in the activation error
path.

Mathieu Poirier 27a7e2a72c coresight: etm4x: Fix timestamp configuration when working from perf
When using the ETM4x tracers from the perf interface two trace options are
available: cycle accurate and timestamp.

Enabling the timestamp feature is done by setting TRCCONFIGR.TS (bit 11).
The position of the timestamp bit in that register coincidentally happens
to be the same as what was chosen to enable timestamping from the 'mode'
sysFS entry.  The code does the right thing but the semantic is wrong.

This patch sets TRCCONFIGR.TS explicitly, as it is done from the sysFS
interface.  That way timestamps are set the same way from both perf and
sysFS and there is no misunderstanding as to what is intended.

Commit d52c9750f1 ("coresight: reset "enable_sink" flag when need be")
caused a kernel panic because of the using of an invalid value: after
'for_each_cpu(cpu, mask)', value of local variable 'cpu' become invalid,

This patch brings the deleted 'cpu = cpumask_first(mask)' back.

Suzuki K Poulose 4474f4c40a coresight: STM: Balance enable/disable
The stm is automatically enabled when an application sets the policy
via ->link() call back by using coresight_enable(), which keeps the
refcount of the current users of the STM. However, the unlink() callback
issues stm_disable() directly, which leaves the STM turned off, without
the coresight layer knowing about it. This prevents any further uses
of the STM hardware as the coresight layer still thinks the STM is
turned on and doesn't enable the hardware when required. Even manually
enabling the STM via sysfs can't really enable the hw.

Suzuki K. Poulose 297ab90f15 coresight: tmc: Cleanup operation mode handling
The mode of operation of the TMC tracked in drvdata->mode is defined
as a local_t type. This is always checked and modified under the
drvdata->spinlock and hence we don't need local_t for it and the
unnecessary synchronisation instructions that comes with it. This
change makes the code a bit more cleaner.

Also fixes the order in which we update the drvdata->mode to
CS_MODE_DISABLED. i.e, in tmc_disable_etX_sink we change the
mode to CS_MODE_DISABLED before invoking tmc_disable_etX_hw()
which in turn depends on the mode to decide whether to dump the
trace to a buffer.

Mathieu Poirier d52c9750f1 coresight: reset "enable_sink" flag when need be
When using coresight from the perf interface sinks are specified
as part of the perf command line.  As such the sink needs to be
disabled once it has been acknowledged by the coresight framework.
Otherwise the sink stays enabled, which may interfere with other
sessions.

This patch removes the sink selection check from the build path
process and make it a function on it's own.  The function is
then used when operating from sysFS or perf to determine what
sink has been selected.

If operated from perf the status of the "enable_sink" flag is
reset so that concurrent session can use a different sink.  When
used from sysFS the status of the flag is left untouched since
users have full control.

The implementation doesn't handle a scenario where a sink has
been enabled from sysFS and another sink is selected from the
perf command line as both modes of operation are mutually
exclusive.

`etm_config` struct.

1. **Branch Broadcast** : The branch broadcast feature is present in ETM
components as well and is called Branch output. It allows to retrieve
addresses for direct branch addresses alongside the indirect branch
addresses. For example, it could be useful in cases when tracing without
source code.
2. **Return Stack** : The return stack option allows to retrieve the
return addresses of function calls. It can be useful to avoid CRA
(Code Reuse Attacks) by keeping a shadowstack.

Chunyan Zhang 9870ef5c58 coresight: stm: return error code instead of zero in .packet()
In STM framework driver, the trace data writing loop would keep running
until it received a negative return value or the whole trace packet has
been written to STM device.  So if the .packet() of STM device always
returns zero since the device is not enabled or the parameter isn't
supported, STM framework driver will stall into a dead loop.

Returning -EACCES (Permission denied) in .packet() if the device is
disabled makes more sense, and this is the same for returning -EINVAL
if the channel passed into is not supported.

Sudeep Holla 3224dcc5a6 coresight: fix handling of ETM trace register access via sysfs
The ETM registers are classified into 2 categories: trace and management.
The core power domain contains most of the trace unit logic including
all(except TRCOSLAR and TRCOSLSR) the trace registers. The debug power
domain contains the external debugger interface including all management
registers.

This patch adds coresight unit specific function coresight_simple_func
which can be used for ETM trace registers by providing a ETM specific
read function which does smp cross call to ensure the trace core is
powered up before the register is accessed.

Sudeep Holla 46a3d5cdb0 coresight: etm4x: request to retain power to the trace unit when active
The Coresight ETMv4 architecture provides a way to request to keep the
power to the trace unit. This might help to collect the traces without
the need to disable the CPU power management(entering/exiting deeper
idle states).

Trace PowerDown Control Register provides powerup request bit which when
set requests the system to retain power to the trace unit and emulate
the powerdown request.

Typically, a trace unit drives a signal to the power controller to
request that the trace unit core power domain is powered up. However,
if the trace unit and the CPU are in the same power domain then the
implementation might combine the trace unit power up status with a
signal from the CPU.

This patch requests to retain power to the trace unit when active and
to remove when inactive. Note this change will only request but the
behaviour depends on the implementation. However, it matches the
exact behaviour expected when the external debugger is connected with
respect to CPU power states.

Suzuki K Poulose 9486295ad1 coresight: Use local coresight_desc instances
Each coresight device prepares a description for coresight_register()
in struct coresight_desc. Once we register the device, the description is
useless and can be freed. The coresight_desc is small enough (48bytes on
64bit)i to be allocated on the stack. Hence use an automatic variable to
avoid a needless dynamic allocation and wasting the memory(which will only
be free'd when the device is destroyed).

Mathieu Poirier 62d39ac934 coresight: delay initialisation when children are missing
Depending on when CoreSight device are discovered it is possible
that some IP block may be referencing devices that have not been
added to the bus yet.  The end result is missing nodes in the
CoreSight topology even when the devices are present and properly
initialised.

This patch solves the problem by asking the driver core to
try initialising the device at a later time when the children
of a CoreSight node are missing.

Suzuki K Poulose 67337e8d8d coresight: Add better messages for coresight_timeout
When we encounter a timeout waiting for a status change via
coresight_timeout, the caller always print the offset which
was tried. This is pretty much useless as it doesn't specify
the bit position we wait for. Also, one needs to lookup the
TRM to figure out, what was wrong. This patch changes all
such error messages to print something more meaningful.

implementations.

As per Cortex-A53 TRM, the ETM has following id values:

Peripheral ID0	0x5D	0xFE0
Peripheral ID1	0xB9	0xFE4
Peripheral ID2	0x4B	0xFE8
Peripheral ID3	0x00	0xFEC

where, PID2: has the following format:

[7:4]   Revision
[3]     JEDEC   0b1     res1. Indicates a JEP106 identity code is used
[2:0]   DES_1   0b011   ARM Limited. This is bits[6:4] of JEP106 ID code

The existing table entry checks only the bits [1:0], which is not
sufficient enough. Fix it to match bits [3:0], just like the other
entries do. While at it, correct the comment for A57 and the A53 entry.

Suzuki K Poulose 068c0a542f coresight: Fix csdev connections initialisation
This is a cleanup patch.

coresight_device->conns holds an array to point to the devices
connected to the OUT ports of a component. Sinks, e.g ETR, do not
have an OUT port (nr_outport = 0), as it streams the trace to
memory via AXI.

At coresight_register() we do :

	conns = kcalloc(csdev->nr_outport, sizeof(*conns), GFP_KERNEL);
	if (!conns) {
		ret = -ENOMEM;
		goto err_kzalloc_conns;
	}

For ETR, since the total size requested for kcalloc is zero, the return
value is, ZERO_SIZE_PTR ( != NULL). Hence, csdev->conns = ZERO_SIZE_PTR
which cannot be verified later to contain a valid pointer. The code which
accesses the csdev->conns is bounded by the csdev->nr_outport check,
hence we don't try to dereference the ZERO_SIZE_PTR. This patch cleans
up the csdev->conns initialisation to make sure we initialise it
properly(i.e, either NULL or valid conns array).

Chunyan Zhang f3864d8562 coresight-stm: support mmapping channel regions with mmio_addr
CoreSight STM device allows direct mapping of the channel regions to
userspace for zero-copy writing. To support this ability, the STM
framework has provided a hook 'mmio_addr', this patch just implemented
this hook for CoreSight STM.

This patch also added an item into 'channel_space' to save the physical
base address of channel region which mmap operation needs to know.

Alexander Shishkin 142dfeb202 intel_th: Add runtime power management handling
Currently, an Intel TH (pci) device will be always active, because the
devices on the 'intel_th' bus don't implement runtime pm to track their
usage.

To address this, this patch adds runtime pm support to the 'intel_th'
bus and some additional bits for the hub. The 'output' type device is
in use while a capture is active; the 'source' type device (STH) relies
on its child stm class device for runtime pm tracking.

Alexander Shishkin 8e0469a4f3 stm class: Add runtime power management handling
Currently, there's no runtime pm in stm class devices, which makes it
harder for the underlying hardware drivers to handle their power
management.

This patch applies the following runtime pm policy to stm class devices,
which their parents can rely on for their power management tracking:

  * device is in use during character device writes,
  * delayed autosuspend is used to keep it active between adjacent
  writes,
  * device is in use while mmio regions are mapped,
  * device is is use while any stm_source devices are linked to it.

Suzuki K Poulose 5014e90468 coresight: Handle build path error
Enabling a component via sysfs (echo 1 > enable_source), would
trigger building a path from the enabled sources to the sink.
If there is an error in the process (e.g, sink not enabled or
the device (CPU corresponding to ETM) is not online), we never report
failure, except for leaving a message in the dmesg.

Do proper error checking for the build path and return the error.

At the end of the trace capture, we free the allocated memory,
resetting the drvdata->buf to NULL, to indicate that trace data
was collected and the next trace session should allocate the
memory in tmc_enable_etr_sink_sysfs.

The tmc_enable_etr_sink_sysfs, we only allocate memory if drvdata->vaddr
is not NULL (which is not performed at the end of previous session).
This can cause, drvdata->vaddr getting assigned NULL and later we do
memset() which causes a crash as below :

Joonsoo Kim 0139aa7b7f mm: rename _count, field of the struct page, to _refcount
Many developers already know that field for reference count of the
struct page is _count and atomic type.  They would try to handle it
directly and this could break the purpose of page reference count
tracepoint.  To prevent direct _count modification, this patch rename it
to _refcount and add warning message on the code.  After that, developer
who need to handle reference count will find that field should not be
accessed directly.

Allowing multiple readers to access the trace data simultaniously
via sysFS provides no shortage of opportunity for race condition,
mandates two variable to be maintained (drvdata::read_count and
drvdata::reading), makes the code complex and provide little
advantages, if any.

This patch streamlines the read process by restricting trace data
access to a single user.  That way drvdata::read_count can
be eliminated and race conditions (along with faulty error handling)
in function tmc_open() and tmc_release() eliminated.

In it's current form the TMC probe() function allocates
trace buffer memory at boot time, event if coresight isn't
used.  This is highly inefficient since trace buffers can
occupy a lot of memory that could be used otherwised.

This patch allocates trace buffers on the fly, when the
coresight subsystem is solicited.  Allocated buffers are
released when traces are read using the device descriptors
under /dev.

The TMC block can operate in 3 modes (ETB, ETF and ETR) and accessed
via two interfaces (sysFS and Perf).  That makes 6 mode to cover, which
is way too much coupling for a single file.

This patch splits the original TMC driver in 2 halves, one for ETB/ETF
and another one for ETR mode.  A common core is kept for functionality
common to all 3 modes.

Mathieu Poirier 580ff804ec coresight: tmc: modifying naming convention
According to the TMC architectural state machine, the 'stopped'
state is reached when bit 2 (TMCReady) of the TMC Status register
turns to '1'.  The code is correct but the naming convention isn't.

The 'Triggered' bit occupies position '1' of the TMC Status register
and has nothing to do with the indication of the TMC entering the
stopped state. As such renaming function "tmc_wait_for_triggered()"
and changing the #define to reflect what the code is really doing.

This patch has no effect other than clarifying the semantic.

Pratik Patel 237483aa5c coresight: stm: adding driver for CoreSight STM component
This driver adds support for the STM CoreSight IP block, allowing any
system compoment (HW or SW) to log and aggregate messages via a
single entity.

The CoreSight STM exposes an application defined number of channels
called stimulus port.  Configuration is done using entries in sysfs
and channels made available to userspace via configfs.

Mathieu Poirier a685d68328 coresight: adding path for STM device
>From a core framework point of view an STM device is a source that is
treated the same way as any other tracers.  Unlike tracers though STM
devices are not associated with a CPU.  As such it doesn't make sense
to associate the path from an STM device to its sink with a per-cpu
variable as it is done for tracers.

This patch simply adds another global variable to keep STM paths and the
processing in coresight_enable/disable() is updated to deal with STM
devices properly.

Some STM devices adjust software assigned master numbers depending on
the trace source and its runtime state and whatnot. This patch adds
a sysfs attribute to inform the trace-side software that master numbers

In order to guarantee that readers don't race with trace enabling,
both should happen under the same mutex. Having two mutexes seems
like an overkill, considering that because of the above, they'll
have to be acquired together, around trace enabling and char device
opening.

This patch makes both buffer accesses and readers serialize on
msc::buf_mutex and makes sure that 'enabled' flag accesses are also
serialized on it.

Chunyan Zhang f57af6df6a stm class: Fix integer boundary checks for master range
Master IDs are of unsigned int type, yet in the configfs policy code
we're validating user's input against INT_MAX. This is both pointless
and misleading as the real limits are imposed by the stm device's
[sw_start..sw_end] (which are also limited by the spec to be no larger
than 2^16-1).

Clean this up by getting rid of the redundant comparisons.

Paul Gortmaker ca48fa22c3 drivers/hwtracing: make coresight-etm-perf.c explicitly non-modular
In commit 941943cf51 ("drivers/hwtracing:
make coresight-* explicitly non-modular") we removed all uses of
modular functions/macros in favour of their built-in equivlents in
this subsystem.

However that commit and commit 0bcbf2e30f
("coresight: etm-perf: new PMU driver for ETM tracers") were in flight
at the same time, and hence one new non-modular user of module_init
crept back in.  Fix it up like we did all the others.

Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular
case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit.

Paul Gortmaker 941943cf51 drivers/hwtracing: make coresight-* explicitly non-modular
None of the Kconfig currently controlling compilation of any of
the files here are tristate, meaning that none of it currently
is being built as a module by anyone.

We need not be concerned about .remove functions and blocking the
unbind sysfs operations, since that was already done in a recent
commit.

Lets remove any remaining modular references, so that when reading the
drivers there is no doubt they are builtin-only.

All drivers get mostly the same changes, so they are handled in batch.
Changes are (1) convert to builtin_amba_driver, (2) delete module.h
include where unused, and (3) relocate the description into the
comments so we don't need MODULE_DESCRIPTION and associated tags.

The etm3x and etm4x use module_param_named, and have been adjusted
to just include moduleparam.h for that purpose.

In commit f309d44431 ("platform_device:
better support builtin boilerplate avoidance") we introduced the
builtin_driver macro.

Here we use that support and extend it to amba driver registration,
so where a driver is clearly non-modular and builtin-only, we can
update with the simple mapping of

     module_amba_driver(...)  ---> builtin_amba_driver(...)

Since module_amba_driver() uses the same init level priority as
builtin_amba_driver() the init ordering remains unchanged with
this commit.

Mathieu Poirier b3e9440594 coresight: associating path with session rather than tracer
When using the Coresight framework from the sysFS interface a
tracer is always handling a single session and as such, a path
can be associated with a tracer.  But when supporting multiple
session per tracer there is no guarantee that sessions will always
have the same path from source to sink.

This patch is removing the automatic association between path and
tracers.  The building of a path and enablement of the components
in the path are decoupled, allowing for the association of a path
with a session rather than a tracer.

To keep backward functionality with the current sysFS access methods
a per-cpu place holder is used to keep a handle on the path built when
tracers are enabled.  Lastly APIs to build paths and enable tracers are
made public so that other subsystem can interact with the Coresight
framework.

There is a window in stm_source_link_drop(), during which the source's
link may change before locks are acquired. When this happens, it throws
a warning, since this is not an expected scenario.

This patch handles the race in such a way that if the link appears to
have changed by the time we took the locks, it will release them and
repeat the whole unlinking procedure from the beginning, unless the
other contender beat us to it.

STM code takes references to the stm device and its module for the
duration of the character device's existence or the stm_source link.
Dropping these references is not well balanced everywhere, which may

Alexander Shishkin 1810f2c448 stm class: Fix unlocking braino in the error path
If an illegal attempt is made to unlink stm source device from an
stm device, the stm device's link spinlock mistakenly remains locked.
While this really shouldn't happen (there's a warning in place), the
locking should remain in order so that we can still recover from this
situation if it indeed does happen.

This patch unifies the unlocking in the exit path of
__stm_source_link_drop() to fix this.

each one with its own master allocation policy.

This patch changes dummy_stm driver to create multiple STM sinks to

Alexander Shishkin 59be422e4c stm class: Support devices with multiple instances
By convention, the name of the stm policy directory in configfs consists of
the device name to which it applies and the actual policy name, separated
by a dot. Now, some devices already have dots in their names that separate
name of the actual device from its instance identifier. Such devices will
result in two (or more, who can tell) dots in the policy directory name.

Existing policy code, however, will treat the first dot as the one that
separates device name from policy name, therefore failing the above case.

This patch makes the last dot in the directory name be the separator, thus
prohibiting dots from being used in policy names.

Alexander Shishkin f8560a9bc7 stm class: Use driver's packet callback return value
STM drivers provide a callback to generate/send individual STP packets;
it also tells the stm core how many bytes of payload it has consumed.
However, we would also need to use the negative space of this return
value to communicate errors that occur during the packet generation,
in which case the stm core will have to take appropriate action.

For now, we need to account for the possibility that the stm driver may
not support certain combinations of packet type/flags, in which case
it is expected to signal an error.

Alexander Shishkin 97007500ec intel_th: sth: Sanitize packet callback's return values
According to the stm class interface, the packet callback should return
an error if it is asked to generate packets that it doesn't support.
When it succeeds, it should return number of bytes consumed from its
payload. Currently, for FLAG packet it mistakenly returns 1.

This patch addresses these issues.

Alexander Shishkin 4d02ceff32 intel_th: Update scratchpad bits according to enabled output activity
Intel TH implements a scratchpad register to indicate to the firmware
and external debuggers what trace configuration is enabled so that
everybody plays nicely together. The register is a bit field and the
bit assignment convention is described in the developer's manual.

This patch enables the driver to automatically set scratchpad register
bits according to the output configuration that's enabled.

Alexander Shishkin f08b18266c stm class: Prevent user-controllable allocations
Currently, the character device write method allocates a temporary buffer
for user's data, but the user's data size is not sanitized and can cause
arbitrarily large allocations via kzalloc() or an integer overflow that
will then result in overwriting kernel memory.

This patch trims the input buffer size to avoid these issues.

Since both sw_start and sw_end are master indices, the size of array
that holds them is sw_end - sw_start + 1, which the current code gets
wrong, allocating one item less than required.

Alexander Shishkin c74f7e8281 stm class: Fix link list locking
Currently, the list of stm_sources linked to an stm device is protected by
a spinlock, which also means that sources' .unlink() method is called under
this spinlock. However, this method may (and does) sleep, which means
trouble.

This patch slightly reworks locking around stm::link_list so that bits that
might_sleep() are called with a mutex held instead. Modification of this
list requires both mutex and spinlock to be held, while looking at the list
can be done under either mutex or spinlock.

Right now, if stm device removal has to unbind from a policy (that is,
an stm device that has STP policy, gets removed), it will trigger a
nested lock on the stm device's policy mutex.

This patch fixes the problem by moving the locking from the policy
unbinding to policy removal (configfs path), where it's actually needed;
the other caller of the policy unbinding function already takes the
mutex around the call.

Mathieu Poirier b15f0fb657 coresight: removing bind/unbind options from sysfs
The coresight drivers have absolutely no control over bind and unbind
operations triggered from sysfs. The operations simply can't be
cancelled or denied event when one or several tracing sessions are
under way.  Since the memory associated to individual device is
invariably freed, the end result is a kernel crash when the path from
source to sink is travelled again as demonstrated here[1].

One solution could be to keep track of all the path (i.e tracing
session) that get created and iterate through the elements of those path
looking for the coresight device that is being removed.  This proposition
doesn't scale well since there is no upper bound on the amount of
concurrent trace session that can be created.

With the above in mind, this patch prevent devices from being unbounded
from their driver by using the driver->suppress_bind_attr option.  That way
trace sessions can be managed without fearing to loose devices.

Since device can't be removed anymore the xyz_remove() functions found in
each driver is also removed.

Mathieu Poirier fadf3a44e9 coresight: checking for NULL string in coresight_name_match()
Connection child names associated to ports can sometimes be NULL,
which is the case when booting a system on QEMU or when the Coresight
power domain isn't switched on.

This patch is adding a check to make sure a NULL string isn't fed
to strcmp(), something that avoid crashing the system.

In the meantime, a new user of the now-removed old configfs API came in
through the char/misc tree in commit 7bd1d4093c ("stm class: Introduce
an abstraction for System Trace Module devices").

This merge resolution comes from Alexander Shishkin, who updated his stm
class tracing abstraction to account for the removal of the old
show_attribute and store_attribute methods in commit 517982229f
("configfs: remove old API") from this pull.  As Alexander says about
that patch:

 "There's no need to keep an extra wrapper structure per item and the
  awkward show_attribute/store_attribute item ops are no longer needed.

  This patch converts policy code to the new api, all the while making
  the code quite a bit smaller and easier on the eyes.

Dan Carpenter 73061da07d intel_th: Check for NULL instead of ERR_PTR
devm_ioremap() returns NULL on error, it doesn't return an ERR_PTR,

   one resource selection pair, 1 indicates two pairs, and so on ...

So, the total number of resource selection control registers which we can

Memory Storage Unit (MSU) is a trace output device that collects trace
data to system memory. It consists of 2 independent Memory Storage
Controllers (MSCs).

This driver provides userspace interfaces to configure in-memory tracing
parameters, such as contiguous (high-order allocation) buffer or multiblock
(scatter list) buffer mode, wrapping (data overwrite) and number and sizes
of windows in multiblock mode. Userspace can read the buffers via mmap()ing
or read()ing of the corresponding device node.

Alexander Shishkin b27a6a3f97 intel_th: Add Global Trace Hub driver
Global Trace Hub (GTH) is the central component of Intel TH architecture;
it carries out switching between the trace sources and trace outputs, can
enable/disable tracing, perform STP encoding, internal buffering, control
backpressure from outputs to sources and so on.

This property is also reflected in the software model; GTH (switch) driver
is required for the other subdevices to probe, because it matches trace
output devices against its output ports and configures them accordingly.

It also implements an interface for output ports to request trace enabling
or disabling and a few other useful things.

For userspace, it provides an attribute group "masters", which allows
configuration of per-master trace output destinations for up to master 255
and "256+" meaning "masters 256 and above". It also provides an attribute
group to discover and configure some of the parameters of its output ports,
called "outputs". Via these the user can set up data retention policy for
an individual output port or check if it is in reset state.

Alexander Shishkin 39f4034693 intel_th: Add driver infrastructure for Intel(R) Trace Hub devices
Intel(R) Trace Hub (TH) is a set of hardware blocks (subdevices) that
produce, switch and output trace data from multiple hardware and
software sources over several types of trace output ports encoded
in System Trace Protocol (MIPI STPv2) and is intended to perform
full system debugging.

For these subdevices, we create a bus, where they can be discovered
and configured by userspace software.

This patch creates this bus infrastructure, three types of devices
(source, output, switch), resource allocation, some callback mechanisms
to facilitate communication between the subdevices' drivers and some
common sysfs attributes.

Alexander Shishkin 7bd1d4093c stm class: Introduce an abstraction for System Trace Module devices
A System Trace Module (STM) is a device exporting data in System Trace
Protocol (STP) format as defined by MIPI STP standards. Examples of such
devices are Intel(R) Trace Hub and Coresight STM.

This abstraction provides a unified interface for software trace sources
to send their data over an STM device to a debug host. In order to do
that, such a trace source needs to be assigned a pair of master/channel
identifiers that all the data from this source will be tagged with. The
STP decoder on the debug host side will use these master/channel tags to
distinguish different trace streams from one another inside one STP
stream.

This abstraction provides a configfs-based policy management mechanism
for dynamic allocation of these master/channel pairs based on trace
source-supplied string identifier. It has the flexibility of being
defined at runtime and at the same time (provided that the policy
definition is aligned with the decoding end) consistency.

For userspace trace sources, this abstraction provides write()-based and
mmap()-based (if the underlying stm device allows this) output mechanism.

For kernel-side trace sources, we provide "stm_source" device class that
can be connected to an stm device at run time.

Chunyan Zhang a440617e0d coresight-etm3x: Support context-ID tracing when PID namespace is enabled
The Coresight ETM drivers already support context-ID tracing, but it won't
work when PID namespace is enabled. This is because when using PID
namespace a process id (ie. VPID) seen from the current namespace differs
from the id (ie. PID) seen by kernel.

So when users write the process id seen by themselves to ETM, there needs
to be a translation from VPID to PID, as such ETM drivers will write the
PID into the Context ID register correctly.

Vaishali Thakkar c35aaa1379 coresight: replicator: Use builtin_platform_driver()
Macro builtin_platform_driver can be used for builtin drivers
that don't do anything in driver init. This file depends on
Kconfig CONFIG_CORESIGHT_LINKS_AND_SINKS which eventually
depends on CORESIGHT. Both CONFIG_CORESIGHT_LINKS_AND_SINKS and
CORESIGHT are bool. So, use builtin_platform_driver and remove
some boilerplate code.

Also, remove header file init.h as functionality like module_init
and module_exit is now relocated to module.h.

This driver manages Qualcomm CoreSight Replicator device, which
resides on the AMBA bus. Replicator has been made programmable to
allow software to turn of the replicator branch to sink that is not

Linus Walleij 9875cd9ce2 coresight: replicator: retrieve and handle atclk
As can be seen from the datasheet of the CoreSight
Components, DDI0314 table A-4 the funnel has a clock signal
apart from the AHB interconnect ("amba_pclk", that we're
already handling) called ATCLK, ARM Trace Clock, that SoC
implementers may provide from an entirely different clock
source. So to model this correctly create an optional
path for handling ATCLK alongside the PCLK so we don't
break old platforms that only define PCLK ("amba_pclk") but
still makes it possible for SoCs that have both clock signals
(such as the DB8500) to fetch and prepare/enable/disable/
unprepare both clocks.

The ATCLK is enabled and disabled using the runtime PM
callbacks. As the replicator is a platform device, the
code is a bit different from the other CoreSight components
and the bus core does not activate runtime PM by default,
so we need a few extra calls.

of screwing around with the framework by going in and taking
a copy from the amba device. The amba bus core will unprepare
and disable the clock when the device is unused when
CONFIG_PM is selected, else the clock will be always on.

Prior to this patch, as the AMBA primecell bus code enables
the PCLK, it would be left on after probe as
the clk_prepare_enable() and clk_disable_unprepare() was
called and thus just increase and decreas the refcount by
one, without it reaching zero and actually disabling the
clock. Now the runtime PM callbacks will make sure the PCLK
is properly disabled after probe.
