H. Peter Anvin 09c205afde x86, boot: Define the 2.12 bzImage boot protocol
Define the 2.12 bzImage boot protocol: add xloadflags and additional
fields to allow the command line, initramfs and struct boot_params to
live above the 4 GiB mark.

The xloadflags now communicates if this is a 64-bit kernel with the
legacy 64-bit entry point and which of the EFI handover entry points
are supported.

Avoid adding new read flags to loadflags because of claimed
bootloaders testing the whole byte for == 1 to determine bzImageness
at least until the issue can be researched further.

This is based on patches by Yinghai Lu and David Woodhouse.

Matthew Garrett dd5fc854de EFI: Stash ROMs if they're not in the PCI BAR

BAR. This support vanishes after we've exited boot services, so add support

available.

Matt Fleming 0f905a43ce x86, efi: Fix processor-specific memcpy() build error
Building for Athlon/Duron/K7 results in the following build error,

arch/x86/boot/compressed/eboot.o: In function `__constant_memcpy3d':
eboot.c:(.text+0x385): undefined reference to `_mmx_memcpy'
arch/x86/boot/compressed/eboot.o: In function `efi_main':
eboot.c:(.text+0x1a22): undefined reference to `_mmx_memcpy'

because the boot stub code doesn't link with the kernel proper, and
therefore doesn't have access to the 3DNow version of memcpy. So,
follow the example of misc.c and #undef memcpy so that we use the
version provided by misc.c.

Matt Fleming b6eea87fc6 x86, boot: Explicitly include autoconf.h for hostprogs
The hostprogs need access to the CONFIG_* symbols found in
include/generated/autoconf.h. But commit abbf1590de ("UAPI: Partition
the header include path sets and add uapi/ header directories") replaced
$(LINUXINCLUDE) with $(USERINCLUDE) which doesn't contain the necessary
include paths.

This has the undesirable effect of breaking the EFI boot stub because
the #ifdef CONFIG_EFI_STUB code in arch/x86/boot/tools/build.c is
never compiled.

It should also be noted that because $(USERINCLUDE) isn't exported by
the top-level Makefile it's actually empty in arch/x86/boot/Makefile.

David Howells abbf1590de UAPI: Partition the header include path sets and add uapi/ header directories
Partition the header include path flags into two sets, one for kernelspace
builds and one for userspace builds.

Add the following directories to build after the ordinary include directories
so that #include will pick up the UAPI header directly if the kernel header
has been moved there.

The userspace set (represented by the USERINCLUDE make variable) contains:

	-I $(srctree)/arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/uapi
	-I arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/generated/uapi
	-I $(srctree)/include/uapi
	-I include/generated/uapi
	-include $(srctree)/include/linux/kconfig.h

and the kernelspace set (represented by the LINUXINCLUDE make variable)
contains:

	-I $(srctree)/arch/$(hdr-arch)/include
	-I arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/generated
	-I $(srctree)/include
-I include --- if not building in the source tree

plus everything in the USERINCLUDE set.

Then use USERINCLUDE in building the x86 boot code.

Matthew Garrett e9b10953ed x86, EFI: Calculate the EFI framebuffer size instead of trusting the firmware
Seth Forshee reported that his system was reporting that the EFI framebuffer
stretched from 0x90010000-0xb0010000 despite the GPU's BAR only covering
0x90000000-0x9ffffff. It's safer to calculate this value from the pixel
stride and screen height (values we already depend on) rather than face
potential problems with resource allocation later on.

Matthew Garrett f462ed939d efifb: Skip DMI checks if the bootloader knows what it's doing
The majority of the DMI checks in efifb are for cases where the bootloader
has provided invalid information. However, on some machines the overrides
may do more harm than good due to configuration differences between machines
with the same machine identifier. It turns out that it's possible for the
bootloader to get the correct information on GOP-based systems, but we
can't guarantee that the kernel's being booted with one that's been updated
to do so. Add support for a capabilities flag that can be set by the
bootloader, and skip the DMI checks in that case. Additionally, set this
flag in the UEFI stub code.

We currently use the PCI IO protocol as a proxy for a functional GOP. This
is less than ideal, since some platforms will put the GOP on output devices
rather than the GPU itself. Move to using the conout protocol. This is not
guaranteed per-spec, but is part of the consplitter implementation that
causes this problem in the first place and so should be reliable.

Matt Fleming 9ca8f72a92 x86, efi: Handover Protocol
As things currently stand, traditional EFI boot loaders and the EFI
boot stub are carrying essentially the same initialisation code
required to setup an EFI machine for booting a kernel. There's really
no need to have this code in two places and the hope is that, with
this new protocol, initialisation and booting of the kernel can be
left solely to the kernel's EFI boot stub. The responsibilities of the
boot loader then become,

o Loading the kernel image from boot media

File system code still needs to be carried by boot loaders for the
scenario where the kernel and initrd files reside on a file system
that the EFI firmware doesn't natively understand, such as ext4, etc.

   o Providing a user interface

Boot loaders still need to display any menus/interfaces, for example
to allow the user to select from a list of kernels.

Bump the boot protocol number because we added the 'handover_offset'
field to indicate the location of the handover protocol entry point.

Paul Bolle e5a7286b5f x86, boot: Remove ancient, unconditionally #ifdef'd out dead code
Release v1.3.82 wrapped a few lines of code in an "#ifdef
SAFE_RESET_DISK_CONTROLLER" and "#endif" pair. Since
SAFE_RESET_DISK_CONTROLLER was never defined anywhere that was basically
a verbose "#ifdef 0" and "#endif" pair. These dead lines have been in
the tree for sixteen years but now the time has come to remove them.

I guess the main lesson here is that if you want your dead code in the
tree for a very long time you'd better be creative. A plain old "#ifdef

H. Peter Anvin 6520fe5564 x86, realmode: 16-bit real-mode code support for relocs tool
A new option is added to the relocs tool called '--realmode'.
This option causes the generation of 16-bit segment relocations
and 32-bit linear relocations for the real-mode code. When
the real-mode code is moved to the low-memory during kernel
initialization, these relocation entries can be used to
relocate the code properly.

In the assembly code 16-bit segment relocations must be relative
to the 'real_mode_seg' absolute symbol. Linear relocations must be
relative to a symbol prefixed with 'pa_'.

16-bit segment relocation is used to load cs:ip in 16-bit code.
Linear relocations are used in the 32-bit code for relocatable
data references. They are declared in the linker script of the
real-mode code.

The relocs tool is moved to arch/x86/tools/relocs.c, and added new
target archscripts that can be used to build scripts needed building
an architecture. be compiled before building the arch/x86 tree.

[ hpa: accelerating this because it detects invalid absolute

Matt Fleming b1994304fc x86, efi: Add dedicated EFI stub entry point
The method used to work out whether we were booted by EFI firmware or
via a boot loader is broken. Because efi_main() is always executed
when booting from a boot loader we will dereference invalid pointers
either on the stack (CONFIG_X86_32) or contained in %rdx
(CONFIG_X86_64) when searching for an EFI System Table signature.

Instead of dereferencing these invalid system table pointers, add a
new entry point that is only used when booting from EFI firmware, when
we know the pointer arguments will be valid. With this change legacy
boot loaders will no longer execute efi_main(), but will instead skip
EFI stub initialisation completely.

Matt Fleming e31be363df x86, efi: Fix .text section overlapping image header for EFI_STUB
This change modifes the PE .text section to start after
the first sector of the kernel image.

The header may be modified by the UEFI secure boot signing,
so it is not appropriate for it to be included in one of the
image sections. Since the sections are part of the secure
boot hash, this modification to the .text section contents
would invalidate the secure boot signed hash.

Note: UEFI secure boot does hash the image header, but
fields that are changed by the signing process are excluded
from the hash calculation. This exclusion process is only
handled for the image header, and not image sections.

Luckily, we can still easily boot without the first sector
by initializing a few fields in arch/x86/boot/compressed/eboot.c.

H. Peter Anvin 446e1c86d5 x86, boot: Correct CFLAGS for hostprogs
This is a partial revert of commit:
    d40f833 "Restrict CFLAGS for hostprogs"

The endian-manipulation macros in tools/include need <linux/types.h>,
but the hostprogs in arch/x86/boot need several headers from the
kernel build tree, which means we have to add the kernel headers to
the include path. This picks up <linux/types.h> from the kernel tree,
which gives a warning.

Since this use of <linux/types.h> is intentional, add
-D__EXPORTED_HEADERS__ to the command line to silence the warning.

A better way to fix this would be to always install the exported
kernel headers into $(objtree)/usr/include as a standard part of the
kernel build, but that is a lot more involved.

Matt Fleming d40f833630 x86, boot: Restrict CFLAGS for hostprogs
Currently tools/build has access to all the kernel headers in
$(srctree). This is unnecessary and could potentially allow
tools/build to erroneously include kernel headers when it should only
be including userspace-exported headers.

Unfortunately, mkcpustr still needs access to some of the asm kernel
headers, so explicitly special case that hostprog.

Maarten Lankhorst 2d2da60fb4 x86, efi: Break up large initrd reads
The efi boot stub tries to read the entire initrd in 1 go, however
some efi implementations hang if too much if asked to read too much

elilo reads in chunks of 16KiB, but since that requires many read

Matt Fleming 291f36325f x86, efi: EFI boot stub support
There is currently a large divide between kernel development and the
development of EFI boot loaders. The idea behind this patch is to give
the kernel developers full control over the EFI boot process. As
H. Peter Anvin put it,

"The 'kernel carries its own stub' approach been very successful in
dealing with BIOS, and would make a lot of sense to me for EFI as
well."

This patch introduces an EFI boot stub that allows an x86 bzImage to
be loaded and executed by EFI firmware. The bzImage appears to the
firmware as an EFI application. Luckily there are enough free bits
within the bzImage header so that it can masquerade as an EFI
application, thereby coercing the EFI firmware into loading it and
jumping to its entry point. The beauty of this masquerading approach
is that both BIOS and EFI boot loaders can still load and run the same
bzImage, thereby allowing a single kernel image to work in any boot
environment.

The EFI boot stub supports multiple initrds, but they must exist on
the same partition as the bzImage. Command-line arguments for the
kernel can be appended after the bzImage name when run from the EFI
shell, e.g.

Shell> bzImage console=ttyS0 root=/dev/sdb initrd=initrd.img

v7:
 - Fix checkpatch warnings.

v6:

 - Try to allocate initrd memory just below hdr->inird_addr_max.

v5:

 - load_options_size is UTF-16, which needs dividing by 2 to convert
   to the corresponding ASCII size.

v4:

 - Don't read more than image->load_options_size

v3:

 - Fix following warnings when compiling CONFIG_EFI_STUB=n

   arch/x86/boot/tools/build.c: In function ‘main’:
   arch/x86/boot/tools/build.c:138:24: warning: unused variable ‘pe_header’
   arch/x86/boot/tools/build.c:138:15: warning: unused variable ‘file_sz’

 - As reported by Matthew Garrett, some Apple machines have GOPs that
don't have hardware attached. We need to weed these out by
searching for ones that handle the PCIIO protocol.

 - Don't allocate memory if no initrds are on cmdline
 - Don't trust image->load_options_size

Maarten Lankhorst noted:
 - Don't strip first argument when booted from efibootmgr
 - Don't allocate too much memory for cmdline
 - Don't update cmdline_size, the kernel considers it read-only
 - Don't accept '\n' for initrd names

v2:

 - File alignment was too large, was 8192 should be 512. Reported by
   Maarten Lankhorst on LKML.
 - Added UGA support for graphics
 - Use VIDEO_TYPE_EFI instead of hard-coded number.
 - Move linelength assignment until after we've assigned depth
 - Dynamically fill out AddressOfEntryPoint in tools/build.c
 - Don't use magic number for GDT/TSS stuff. Requested by Andi Kleen
 - The bzImage may need to be relocated as it may have been loaded at
a high address address by the firmware. This was required to get my
macbook booting because the firmware loaded it at 0x7cxxxxxx, which
   triggers this error in decompress_kernel(),

	if (heap > ((-__PAGE_OFFSET-(128<<20)-1) & 0x7fffffff))

Lasse Collin 303148045a x86: support XZ-compressed kernel
This integrates the XZ decompression code to the x86 pre-boot code.

mkpiggy.c is updated to reserve about 32 KiB more buffer safety margin for
kernel decompression. It is done unconditionally for all decompressors to
keep the code simpler.

The XZ decompressor needs around 30 KiB of heap, so the heap size is
increased to 32 KiB on both x86-32 and x86-64.

Documentation/x86/boot.txt is updated to list the XZ magic number.

With the x86 BCJ filter in XZ, XZ-compressed x86 kernel tends to be a few
percent smaller than the equivalent LZMA-compressed kernel.

This reverts commit b3b77c8cae, which was
also totally broken (see commit 0d2daf5cc8 that reverted the crc32
version of it). As reported by Stephen Rothwell, it causes problems on
big-endian machines:

> In file included from fs/jfs/jfs_types.h:33,

things. So don't go there.

Joakim Tjernlund b3b77c8cae endian: #define __BYTE_ORDER
Linux does not define __BYTE_ORDER in its endian header files which makes
some header files bend backwards to get at the current endian. Lets
#define __BYTE_ORDER in big_endian.h/litte_endian.h to make it easier for
header files that are used in user space too.

In userspace the convention is that

  1. _both_ __LITTLE_ENDIAN and __BIG_ENDIAN are defined,
  2. you have to test for e.g. __BYTE_ORDER == __BIG_ENDIAN.

H. Peter Anvin 8e92dc767a x86, setup: Don't skip mode setting for the standard VGA modes
The code for setting standard VGA modes probes for the current mode,
and skips the mode setting if the mode is 3 (color text 80x25) or 7
(mono text 80x25). Unfortunately, there are BIOSes, including the
VMware BIOS, which report the previous mode if function 0F is queried
while the screen is in a VESA mode, and of course, nothing can help a
mode poked directly into the hardware.

As such, the safe option is to set the mode anyway, and only query to
see if we should be using mode 7 rather than mode 3. People who don't
want any mode setting at all should probably use vga=0x0f04
(VIDEO_CURRENT_MODE). It's possible that should be the kernel
default.

When we restore the screen content after a mode change, we return the
cursor to its former position. However, we need to also update
boot_params.screen_info accordingly, so that the decompression code
knows where on the screen the cursor is. Just in case the video BIOS
does something extra screwy, read the cursor position back from the
BIOS instead of relying on it doing the right thing.

While we're at it, make sure we cap the cursor position to the new
screen coordinates.

H. Peter Anvin 17a2a9b57a x86, compress: Force i386 instructions for the decompressor
Recently, some distros have started shipping versions of gcc which
default to -march=i686. This breaks building kernels for pre-i686
machines, even if they have been selected in Kconfig, due to the
generation of CMOV instructions.

There isn't enough benefit to try to preserve the generation of these
instructions even when selected, so simply force -march=i386 for the
decompressor when building a 32-bit kernel.

H. Peter Anvin 873b5271f8 x86: Regex support and known-movable symbols for relocs, fix _end
This adds a new category of symbols to the relocs program: symbols
which are known to be relative, even though the linker emits them as
absolute; this is the case for symbols that live in the linker script,
which currently applies to _end.

Unfortunately the previous workaround of putting _end in its own empty
section was defeated by newer binutils, which remove empty sections
completely.

This patch also changes the symbol matching to use regular expressions
instead of hardcoded C for specific patterns.

This is a decidedly non-minimal patch: a modified version of the
relocs program is used as part of the Syslinux build, and this is
basically a backport to Linux of some of those changes; they have
thus been well tested.

Jan Beulich 350f8f5631 x86: Eliminate redundant/contradicting cache line size config options
Rather than having X86_L1_CACHE_BYTES and X86_L1_CACHE_SHIFT
(with inconsistent defaults), just having the latter suffices as
the former can be easily calculated from it.

To be consistent, also change X86_INTERNODE_CACHE_BYTES to
X86_INTERNODE_CACHE_SHIFT, and set it to 7 (128 bytes) for NUMA
to account for last level cache line size (which here matters
more than L1 cache line size).

Finally, make sure the default value for X86_L1_CACHE_SHIFT,
when X86_GENERIC is selected, is being seen before that for the
individual CPU model options (other than on x86-64, where
GENERIC_CPU is part of the choice construct, X86_GENERIC is a
separate option on ix86).

Sam Ravnborg caa27b66bd kbuild: use INSTALLKERNEL to select customized installkernel script
Replace the use of CROSS_COMPILE to select a customized
installkernel script with the possibility to set INSTALLKERNEL
to select a custom installkernel script when running make:

    make INSTALLKERNEL=arm-installkernel install

With this patch we are now more consistent across
different architectures - they did not all support use
of CROSS_COMPILE.

The use of CROSS_COMPILE was a hack as this really belongs
to gcc/binutils and the installkernel script does not change
just because we change toolchain.

The use of CROSS_COMPILE caused troubles with an upcoming patch
that saves CROSS_COMPILE when a kernel is built - it would no
longer be installable.
[Thanks to Peter Z. for this hint]

This patch undos what Ian did in commit:

  0f8e2d62fa
  ("use ${CROSS_COMPILE}installkernel in arch/*/boot/install.sh")

The patch has been lightly tested on x86 only - but all changes
looks obvious.

Tejun Heo 46176b4f6b x86, relocs: ignore R_386_NONE in kernel relocation entries
For relocatable 32bit kernels, boot/compressed/relocs.c processes
relocation entries in the kernel image and appends it to the kernel
image such that boot/compressed/head_32.S can relocate the kernel.
The kernel image is one statically linked object and only uses two
relocation types - R_386_PC32 and R_386_32, of the two only the latter
needs massaging during kernel relocation and thus handled by relocs.
R_386_PC32 is ignored and all other relocation types are considered
error.

When the target of a relocation resides in a discarded section,
binutils doesn't throw away the relocation record but nullifies it by
changing it to R_386_NONE, which unfortunately makes relocs fail.

The problem was triggered by yet out-of-tree x86 stack unwind patches
but given the binutils behavior, ignoring R_386_NONE is the right
thing to do.

The problem has been tracked down to binutils behavior by Jan Beulich.

H. Peter Anvin bca23dba76 x86, setup: revert ACPI 3 E820 extended attributes support
Remove ACPI 3 E820 extended memory attributes support. At least one
vendor actively set all the flags to zero, but left ECX on return at
24. This bug may be present in other BIOSes.

The breakage functionally means the ACPI 3 flags are probably
completely useless, and that no OS any time soon is going to rely on
their existence. Therefore, drop support completely. We may want to
revisit this question in the future, if we find ourselves actually
needing the flags.

This reverts all or part of the following checkins:

     cd670599b7
     c549e71d07

However, retain the part from the latter commit that copies e820 into
a temporary buffer; that is an unrelated BIOS workaround. Put in a
comment to explain that part.

additional information.

arch/x86/boot/compressed/misc.c contains several sanity checks on the
output address. Correct constraints that are no longer correct:

- the alignment test should be MIN_KERNEL_ALIGN on both 32 and 64
  bits.
- the 64 bit maximum address was set to 2^40, which was the limit of
one specific x86-64 implementation. Change the test to 2^46, the
current Linux limit, and at least try to test the end rather than
  the beginning.
- for non-relocatable kernels, test against LOAD_PHYSICAL_ADDR on both
  32 and 64 bits.

H. Peter Anvin 5031296c57 x86: add extension fields for bootloader type and version
A long ago, in days of yore, it all began with a god named Thor.
There were vikings and boats and some plans for a Linux kernel
header. Unfortunately, a single 8-bit field was used for bootloader
type and version. This has generally worked without *too* much pain,
but we're getting close to flat running out of ID fields.

Add extension fields for both type and version. The type will be
extended if it the old field is 0xE; the version is a simple MSB
extension.

Keep /proc/sys/kernel/bootloader_type containing
(type << 4) + (ver & 0xf) for backwards compatiblity, but also add
/proc/sys/kernel/bootloader_version which contains the full version
number.

Make the kernel_alignment field adjustable; this allows us to set it
to a large value (intended to be 16 MB to avoid ZONE_DMA contention,

force a loading at a lesser alignment if absolutely necessary.

Also export pref_address (preferred loading address, corresponding to
the link-time address) and init_size, the total amount of linear
memory the kernel will require during initialization.

H. Peter Anvin 36d3793c94 x86, boot: use appropriate rep string for move and clear
In the pre-decompression code, use the appropriate largest possible
rep movs and rep stos to move code and clear bss, respectively. For
reverse copy, do note that the initial values are supposed to be the
address of the first (highest) copy datum, not one byte beyond the end
of the buffer.

rep strings are not necessarily the fastest way to perform these
operations on all current processors, but are likely to be in the
future, and perhaps more importantly, we want to encourage the
architecturally right thing to do here.

Both on 32 and 64 bits, we copy all the way up to the end of bss,
except that on 64 bits there is a hack to avoid copying on top of the
page tables. There is no point in copying bss at all, especially
since we are just about to zero it all anyway.

To clean up and unify the handling, we now do:

  - copy from startup_32 to _bss.
  - zero from _bss to _ebss.
  - the _ebss symbol is aligned to an 8-byte boundary.
  - the page tables are moved to a separate section.

Use _bss as the copy endpoint since _edata may be misaligned.

Linus Torvalds 51b26ada79 x86: unify arch/x86/boot/compressed/vmlinux_*.lds
Look at the:

	diff -u arch/x86/boot/compressed/vmlinux_*.lds

output and realize that they're basially exactly the same except for
trivial naming differences, and the fact that the 64-bit version has a
"pgtable" thing.

So unify them.

There's some trivial cleanup there (make the output format a Kconfig thing
rather than doing #ifdef's for it, and unify both 32-bit and 64-bit BSS
end to "_ebss", where 32-bit used to use the traditional "_end"), but
other than that it's really very mindless and straigt conversion.

For example, I think we should aim to remove "startup_32" vs "startup_64",
and just call it "startup", and get rid of one more difference. I didn't
do that.

Also, notice the comment in the unified vmlinux.lds.S talks about
"head_64" and "startup_32" which is an odd and incorrect mix, but that was
actually what the old 64-bit only lds file had, so the confusion isn't
new, and now that mixing is arguably more accurate thanks to the
vmlinux.lds.S file being shared between the two cases ;)

H. Peter Anvin 5f64135612 x86, setup: fix the setting of 480-line VGA modes
Impact: fix rarely-used feature

The VGA Miscellaneous Output Register is read from address 0x3CC but
written to address 0x3C2. This was missed when this code was
converted from assembly to C. While we're at it, clean up the code by
making the overflow bits and the math used to set the bits explicit.

H. Peter Anvin 5e47c478b0 x86: remove zImage support
Impact: obsolete feature removal

The zImage kernel format has been functionally unused for a very long
time. It is just barely possible to build a modern kernel that still
fits within the zImage size limit, but it is highly unlikely that
anyone ever uses it. Furthermore, although it is still supported by
most bootloaders, it has been at best poorly tested (or not tested at
all); some bootloaders are even known to not support zImage at all and
not having even noticed.

Also remove some really obsolete constants that no longer have any
meaning.

Ingo Molnar 965c7ecaf2 x86: remove the Voyager 32-bit subarch
Impact: remove unused/broken code

The Voyager subarch last built successfully on the v2.6.26 kernel
and has been stale since then and does not build on the v2.6.27,
v2.6.28 and v2.6.29-rc5 kernels.

No actual users beyond the maintainer reported this breakage.
Patches were sent and most of the fixes were accepted but the
discussion around how to do a few remaining issues cleanly
fizzled out with no resolution and the code remained broken.

In the v2.6.30 x86 tree development cycle 32-bit subarch support
has been reworked and removed - and the Voyager code, beyond the
build problems already known, needs serious and significant
changes and probably a rewrite to support it.

CONFIG_X86_VOYAGER has been marked BROKEN then. The maintainer has
been notified but no patches have been sent so far to fix it.

While all other subarchs have been converted to the new scheme,
voyager is still broken. We'd prefer to receive patches which
clean up the current situation in a constructive way, but even in
case of removal there is no obstacle to add that support back
after the issues have been sorted out in a mutually acceptable
fashion.

So remove this inactive code for now.

H. Peter Anvin 3bd323a1da x86 setup: a20: early timeout for a nonexistent keyboard controller
When probing the keyboard controller to enable A20, if we get FF back
(which is *possible* as a valid status word, but is extremely
unlikely) then bail after much fewer iterations than we otherwise
would, and abort the attempt to access the KBC.

This hopefully should make it work a lot better for embedded platforms
which don't have a KBC and where the BIOS doesn't implement
INT 15h AX=2401h (and doesn't boot with A20 already enabled.)

If this works, it will be the one remaining use of CONFIG_X86_ELAN as

Alain Knaff ae03c49964 bzip2/lzma: x86 kernel compression support
Impact: Replaces x86 kernel decompressor with new code

This is the third part of the bzip2/lzma patch

The bzip patch is based on an idea by Christian Ludwig, includes support for
compressing the kernel with bzip2 or lzma rather than gzip. Both
compressors give smaller sizes than gzip. Lzma's decompresses faster
than bzip2.

It also supports ramdisks and initramfs' compressed using these two
compressors.

The functionality has been successfully used for a couple of years by
the udpcast project

This version applies to "tip" kernel 2.6.28

and doesn't include all possible CPUID words. In particular, it
doesn't contain the code for CPU feature words 2 (Transmeta),
3 (Linux-specific), 5 (VIA), or 7 (scattered). Zero them out, so we
can still set those bits as known at compile time; in particular, this
allows creating a Linux-specific NOPL flag and have it required (and
therefore resolvable at compile time) in 64-bit mode.

Andi Kleen 1b72691ce3 x86: fix build warnings in real mode code
This recent patch

commit c3965bd151
Author: Paul Jackson <pj@sgi.com>
Date: Wed May 14 08:15:34 2008 -0700

x86 boot: proper use of ARRAY_SIZE instead of repeated E820MAX constant

caused these new warnings during a normal build:

In file included from linux-2.6/arch/x86/boot/memory.c:17:
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h: In function '__ilog2_u32':
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h:34: warning: implicit declaration of function 'fls'
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h: In function '__ilog2_u64':
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h:42: warning: implicit declaration of function 'fls64'
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h: In function '__roundup_pow_of_two ':
linux-2.6/include/linux/log2.h:63: warning: implicit declaration of function 'fls_long'

I tried to fix them in log2.h, but it's difficult because the real mode
environment is completely different from a normal kernel environment. Instead
define an own ARRAY_SIZE macro in boot.h, similar to the other private
macros there.
