When using a GPIO which is high by default, and initialize the
driver in USB Hub mode, initialization fails with:
[ 111.757794] usb3503 0-0008: SP_ILOCK failed (-5)
The reason seems to be that the chip is not properly reset.
Probe does initialize reset low, however some lines later the
code already set it back high, which is not long enouth.
Make sure reset is asserted for at least 100us by inserting a
delay after initializing the reset pin during probe.

The F81532/534 had 4 clocksource 1.846/18.46/14.77/24MHz and baud rates
can be up to 1.5Mbits with 24MHz. But on some baud rate (384~500kps), the
TX side will send the data frame too close to treat frame error on RX
side. This patch will force all TX data frame with delay 1bit gap.

The F81532/534 had 3 output pin (M0/SD, M1, M2) with open-drain mode to
control transceiver. We'll read it from internal Flash with address
0x2f05~0x2f08 for 4 ports. The value is range from 0 to 7. The M0/SD is
MSB of this value. For a examples, If read value is 6, we'll write M0/SD,
M1, M2 as 1, 1, 0.

The F81532/534 had 4 clocksource 1.846/18.46/14.77/24MHz and baud rates
can be up to 1.5Mbits with 24MHz.
This device may generate data overrun when baud rate setting to 921600bps
or higher with old UART trigger level setting (8x14=112) with full
loading. We'll change trigger level from 8x14=112 to 8x8=64 to avoid data
overrun.
Also the read/write of EP0 will be affected by this patch. The worst case
of responding time is 20s when all serial port are full loading and trying
to access EP0, so we change EP0 timeout from 10 to 20s.

The old way of usb wakeup only supports platform with single xHCI IP,
such as mt8173, but mt2712 has two xHCI IPs, so rebuild its flow and
supports the new glue layer of usb wakeup on mt2712 which is different
from mt8173.
Due to there is a hardware bug with the LINE STATE wakeup mode on
mt8173 which causes wakeup failure by low speed devices, and also
because IP SLEEP mode can cover all functions of LINE STATE mode,
it is unused in fact, and will not support it later, so remove it at
the same time.

Upon usb composition switch there is possibility of ep0 file
release happening after gadget driver bind. In case of composition
switch from adb to a non-adb composition gadget will never gets
bound again resulting into failure of usb device enumeration. Fix
this issue by checking FFS_FL_BOUND flag and avoid extra
gadget driver unbind if it is already done as part of composition
switch.
This fixes adb reconnection error reported on Android running
v4.4 and above kernel versions. Verified on Hikey running vanilla
v4.15-rc7 + few out of tree Mali patches.

The error-handling pathways in usb_add_gadget_udc_release() are messed
up. Aside from the uninformative statement labels, they can deallocate
the udc structure after calling put_device(), which is a double-free.
This was observed by KASAN in automatic testing.
This patch cleans up the routine. It preserves the requirement that
when any failure occurs, we call put_device(&gadget->dev).

The patch removes unused TIOCSSERIAL ioctl case and adds the default block
to the switch. This will make the ioctl return -ENOTTY to user space (e.g.
setserial), which indicates that TIOCSSERIAL really isn't supported for
these devices currently.
Note that these (dummy) ioctl implementations where added by commit
2f430b4bba ("USB: ark3116: Add TIOCGSERIAL and TIOCSSERIAL ioctl
calls.") back in 2006. This in turn appears to have been triggered by a
change in a user space tool, wvdial, which started erroring out if
either was missing.
There are some bug reports about that against wvdial from around that
time, and looking at the wvstreams (library) code now, it looks like the
issue has indeed been resolved by handling errors more gracefully (e.g.
just logging them).
User space really should not make assumptions about these ioctl always
being implemented, but if this turns out to be a problem for anyone
using this driver, we'll add TIOCSSERIAL back in some form.

Adding phy calibration sequence for USB 3.0 DRD PHY present on
Exynos5420/5800 systems.
This calibration facilitates setting certain PHY parameters viz.
the Loss-of-Signal (LOS) Detector Threshold Level, as well as
Tx-Vboost-Level for Super-Speed operations.
Additionally we also set proper time to wait for RxDetect measurement,
for desired PHY reference clock, so as to solve issue with enumeration
of few USB 3.0 devices, like Samsung SUM-TSB16S 3.0 USB drive
on the controller.
We are using CR_port for this purpose to send required data
to override the LOS values.
On testing with USB 3.0 devices on USB 3.0 port present on
SMDK5420, and peach-pit boards should see following message:
usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci-hcd
and without this patch, should see below shown message:
usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using xhci-hcd

The issue is caused by the xhci ring structures being reallocated
when the system is resumed, but pointers to the old structures
being retained in the debugfs files "private" field:
The proposed patch fixes this issue by storing a pointer to the xhci_ring
field in the xhci device structure in debugfs rather than directly
storing a pointer to the xhci_ring.

Free the virt_device and its debugfs_private member together.
When resuming from hibernate the .free_dev callback unconditionally
freed the debugfs_private member, but could leave virt_device intact.
This triggered a NULL pointer dereference after resume when usbmuxd
sent a USBDEVFS_SETCONFIGURATION ioctl to a device, trying to add a
endpoint debugfs entry to a already freed debugfs_private pointer.

USB 3.1 devices are not detected as 3.1 capable since 4.15-rc3 due to a
off by one in commit 81cf4a4536 ("USB: core: Add type-specific length
check of BOS descriptors")
It uses USB_DT_USB_SSP_CAP_SIZE() to get SSP capability size which takes
the zero based SSAC as argument, not the actual count of sublink speed
attributes.
USB3 spec 9.6.2.5 says "The number of Sublink Speed Attributes = SSAC + 1."
The type-specific length check patch was added to stable and needs to be
fixed there as well

Clear Feature Endpoint Halt should reset the data toggle even if the
endpoint isn't halted. Host should manage to clear the host side data
toggle to keep in sync with the device.
Test by sending a "3 data packet URB" before and after clearing the halt.
this should create a toggle sequence with two consecutive DATA0 packets.
A successful test sequence looks like this

USB SS and SSP hubs provide wHubDelay values on their hub descriptor
which we should inform the USB Device about.
The USB Specification 3.0 explains, on section 9.4.11, how to
calculate the value and how to issue the request. Note that a
USB_REQ_SET_ISOCH_DELAY is valid on all device states (Default,
Address, Configured), we just *chose* to issue it from Address state
right after successfully fetching the USB Device Descriptor.

According to drivers/usb/serial/io_edgeport.c, the driver may sleep
under a spinlock.
The function call path is:

To fix it, the redundant usb_kill_urb() is removed from the error path

A malicious USB device with crafted descriptors can cause the kernel
to access unallocated memory by setting the bNumInterfaces value too
high in a configuration descriptor. Although the value is adjusted
during parsing, this adjustment is skipped in one of the error return
paths.
This patch prevents the problem by setting bNumInterfaces to 0
initially. The existing code already sets it to the proper value
after parsing is complete.

The usbhs_rcar3_power_and_pll_ctrl() will be used by non-otg channel
(e.g. R-Car D3) and the previous code has hardcoded as peripheral mode.
So, this patch sets the mode by using extcon state.
If the channel doesn't get any extcon devices, this driver's behavior
is the same as before.

On rk3288-veyron devices on Chrome OS it was found that plugging in an
Arduino-based USB device could cause the system to lockup, especially
if the CPU Frequency was at one of the slower operating points (like
100 MHz / 200 MHz).
Upon tracing, I found that the following was happening:
* The USB device (full speed) was connected to a high speed hub and
then to the rk3288. Thus, we were dealing with split transactions,
which is all handled in software on dwc2.
* Userspace was initiating a BULK IN transfer
* When we sent the SSPLIT (to start the split transaction), we got an
ACK. Good. Then we issued the CSPLIT.
* When we sent the CSPLIT, we got back a NAK. We immediately (from
the interrupt handler) started to retry and sent another SSPLIT.
* The device kept NAKing our CSPLIT, so we kept ping-ponging between
sending a SSPLIT and a CSPLIT, each time sending from the interrupt
handler.
* The handling of the interrupts was (because of the low CPU speed and
the inefficiency of the dwc2 interrupt handler) was actually taking
_longer_ than it took the other side to send the ACK/NAK. Thus we
were _always_ in the USB interrupt routine.
* The fact that USB interrupts were always going off was preventing
other things from happening in the system. This included preventing
the system from being able to transition to a higher CPU frequency.
As I understand it, there is no requirement to retry super quickly
after a NAK, we just have to retry sometime in the future. Thus one
solution to the above is to just add a delay between getting a NAK and
retrying the transmission. If this delay is sufficiently long to get
out of the interrupt routine then the rest of the system will be able
to make forward progress. Even a 25 us delay would probably be
enough, but we'll be extra conservative and try to delay 1 ms (the
exact amount depends on HZ and the accuracy of the jiffy and how close
the current jiffy is to ticking, but could be as much as 20 ms or as
little as 1 ms).
Presumably adding a delay like this could impact the USB throughput,
so we only add the delay with repeated NAKs.
NOTE: Upon further testing of a pl2303 serial adapter, I found that
this fix may help with problems there. Specifically I found that the
pl2303 serial adapters tend to respond with a NAK when they have
nothing to say and thus we end with this same sequence.

Fix child-node lookup during probe, which ended up searching the whole
device tree depth-first starting at the parent rather than just matching
on its children.

The URB_NO_FSBR flag has never really been used. It was introduced as
a potential way for UHCI to minimize PCI bus usage (by not attempting
full-speed bulk and control transfers more than once per frame), but
the flag was not set by any drivers.
There's no point in keeping it around. This patch simplifies the API
by removing it. Unfortunately, it does have to be kept as part of the
usbfs ABI, but at least we can document in
include/uapi/linux/usbdevice_fs.h that it doesn't do anything.

USB Power Delivery Specification (v3.0) dictates in ch.
6.4.1 - Capabilities Message - that the vSafe5V Fixed Supply
Object shall always be the first object. tcpm.c now checks
that this rule is obeyed (commit 5007e1b5db "typec: tcpm
Validate source and sink caps"), and that makes the
typec_wcove.c fail to probe. The voltage is higher then what
is permitted for the vSafe5V parameter.
Dropping the voltage in the first Fixed Supply object of the
sink capabilities down to 5V, and maximum current down to
500mA, making the driver probe successfully again.
Also, removing the Battery and Variable Supply objects, as
there is no need for them.

The other synopsys controller driver (dwc2) got a fix for FIFO size
programming.
Other than these, we have a couple Kconfig fixes making sure that
dependencies are properly setup.
The dwc2 USB controller in Stratix10 has an additional ECC reset bit that
needs to get de-asserted in order for the controller to work properly.

This patch uses usbhs_pipe_clear_without_sequence() instead of
usbhsf_fifo_clear() because usbhsf_fifo_clear() may not clear the pipe
buffer completely. This patch also changes the clearing condition from
DMA only to both DMA and PIO.

This patch adds usbhs_pipe_clear_without_sequence() function.
The controller has the pipe buffer and the PIPEnCTR.ACLRM can clear
it completely. But, it's also clear the data sequence. So, the driver
needs to get the sequence before.

Factor out the guts of usb charger initialization into usb_charger_init()
function, to make the usb_add_extcon() only do the extcon related things.
Meanwhile we also should initialize the USB charger before registering
the extcon device, in case the extcon notification was issued earlier than
usb charger initialization.

Romain Izard recently reported that commit 7a9618a22a ended up
allowing every legacy gadget driver to statically linked to the
kernel, however that doesn't work, since only one legacy gadget can be
bound to a controller. Because of that, let's revert the original commit
and fix the problem.

Some platforms (e.g. TI's DRA7 USB2 instance) have more trouble
with the metastability workaround as it supports only
a High-Speed PHY and the PHY can enter into an Erratic state [1]
when the controller is set in SuperSpeed mode as part of
the metastability workaround.
This causes upto 2 seconds delay in enumeration on DRA7's USB2
instance in gadget mode.
If these platforms can be better off without the workaround,
provide a device tree property to suggest that so the workaround
is avoided.

The UDC core ensures that .udc_set_speed() is called with
a speed that is a minimum of the max speeds supported
by the gadget function driver and the UDC driver.
We can now use the speed argument as is.
Get rid of the debug print as that condition will never happen.

Instead of keeping our own isoch_delay, let's make use of the newly
introduced isoch_delay member in struct usb_gadget. The benefit here
is that we would be using a generic "API" which other UDCs can use,
resulting in a common setup for gadget drivers who may be interested
in Isoch Delay value.

In host mode reading from DPTXSIZn returning invalid value in
dwc2_check_param_tx_fifo_sizes function.
In total TxFIFO size calculations unnecessarily reducing by ep_info.
hw->total_fifo_size can be fully allocated for FIFO's.
Added num_dev_in_eps member in dwc2_hw_params structure to save number
of IN EPs.
Added g_tx_fifo_size array in dwc2_hw_params structure to store power
on reset values of DPTXSIZn registers in forced device mode.
Updated dwc2_hsotg_tx_fifo_count() function to get TxFIFO count from
num_dev_in_eps.
Updated dwc2_get_dev_hwparams() function to store DPTXFSIZn in
g_tx_fifo_size array.
dwc2_get_host/dev_hwparams() functions call moved after num_dev_in_eps
set from hwcfg4.
Modified dwc2_check_param_tx_fifo_sizes() function to check TxFIFOn
sizes based on g_tx_fifo_size array.
Removed ep_info subtraction during calculation of tx_addr_max in
dwc2_hsotg_tx_fifo_total_depth() function. Also removed
dwc2_hsotg_ep_info_size() function as no more need.

For isochronous endpoints with ep->mult less than 3, PCM1 value of
trb->size in set incorrectly.
For ep->mult = 2, this is set to 0/-1 and for ep->mult = 1, this is
set to -2. This is because the initial mult is set to ep->mult - 1
instead of 2.

If of_clk_get() fails, the clean-up of already initialized clocks should be
the same as when clk_prepare_enable() fails. Thus a clk_disable_unprepare()
for each clock should be called before the clk_put().

this TRB (following spec).

Avoid null pointer dereference if some function is walking through the
devs array accessing members of a new virt_dev that is mid allocation.
Add the virt_dev to xhci->devs[i] _after_ the virt_device and all its
members are properly allocated.
issue found by KASAN: null-ptr-deref in xhci_find_slot_id_by_port
"Quick analysis suggests that xhci_alloc_virt_device() is not mutex
protected. If so, there is a time frame where xhci->devs[slot_id] is set
but not fully initialized. Specifically, xhci->devs[i]->udev can be NULL."

The xHCI driver currently has the IMOD set to 160, which
translates to an IMOD interval of 40,000ns (160 * 250)ns
Commit 0cbd4b34cd ("xhci: mediatek: support MTK xHCI host controller")
introduced a QUIRK for the MTK platform to adjust this interval to 20,
which translates to an IMOD interval of 5,000ns (20 * 250)ns. This is
due to the fact that the MTK controller IMOD interval is 8 times
as much as defined in xHCI spec.
Instead of adding more quirk bits for additional platforms, this patch
introduces the ability for vendors to set the IMOD_INTERVAL as is
optimal for their platform. By using device_property_read_u32() on
"imod-interval-ns", the IMOD INTERVAL can be specified in nano seconds.
If no interval is specified, the default of 40,000ns (IMOD=160) will be
used.
No bounds checking has been implemented due to the fact that a vendor
may have violated the spec and would need to specify a value outside of
the max 8,000 IRQs/second limit specified in the xHCI spec.

xHCI compatible USB host controllers(i.e. super-speed USB3 controllers)
can be implemented with the Debug Capability(DbC). It presents a debug
device which is fully compliant with the USB framework and provides the
equivalent of a very high performance full-duplex serial link. The debug
capability operation model and registers interface are defined in 7.6.8
of the xHCI specification, revision 1.1.
The DbC debug device shares a root port with the xHCI host. By default,
the debug capability is disabled and the root port is assigned to xHCI.
When the DbC is enabled, the root port will be assigned to the DbC debug
device, and the xHCI sees nothing on this port. This implementation uses
a sysfs node named <dbc> under the xHCI device to manage the enabling
and disabling of the debug capability.
When the debug capability is enabled, it will present a debug device
through the debug port. This debug device is fully compliant with the
USB3 framework, and it can be enumerated by a debug host on the other
end of the USB link. As soon as the debug device is configured, a TTY
serial device named /dev/ttyDBC0 will be created.

stub_send_ret_submit() handles urb with a potential null transfer_buffer,
when it replays a packet with potential malicious data that could contain
a null buffer. Add a check for the condition when actual_length > 0 and
transfer_buffer is null.

When a client has a USB device attached over IP, the vhci_hcd driver is
locally leaking a socket pointer address via the
/sys/devices/platform/vhci_hcd/status file (world-readable) and in debug
output when "usbip --debug port" is run.
Fix it to not leak. The socket pointer address is not used at the moment
and it was made visible as a convenient way to find IP address from socket
pointer address by looking up /proc/net/{tcp,tcp6}.
As this opens a security hole, the fix replaces socket pointer address with
sockfd.

Harden CMD_SUBMIT path to handle malicious input that could trigger
large memory allocations. Add checks to validate transfer_buffer_length
and number_of_packets to protect against bad input requesting for
unbounded memory allocations. Validate early in get_pipe() and return

get_pipe() routine doesn't validate the input endpoint number
and uses to reference ep_in and ep_out arrays. Invalid endpoint
number can trigger BUG(). Range check the epnum and returning
error instead of calling BUG().
Change caller stub_recv_cmd_submit() to handle the get_pipe()
error return.

There is another JMS567-based USB3 UAS enclosure (152d:0578) that fails
with the following error:

The issue occurs both with UAS (occasionally) and mass storage

Enabling US_FL_BROKEN_FUA quirk solves this issue.
This patch adds an UNUSUAL_DEV with US_FL_BROKEN_FUA for the enclosure
for both UAS and mass storage.

When babble condition happens, the musb controller might automatically
turns off VBUS. On DA8xx platform, the controller generates drvvbus
interrupt for turning off VBUS along with the babble interrupt.
In this case, we should handle the babble interrupt first and recover
from the babble condition.
This change ignores the drvvbus interrupt if babble interrupt is also
generated at the same time, so the babble recovery routine works
properly.

At present, TCPM code assumes that local device supports
variable/batt pdos and always selects the pdo with highest
possible power within the board limit. This assumption
might not hold good for all devices. To overcome this,
this patch makes TCPM only accept a source_pdo when there is
a matching sink pdo.
For Fixed pdos: The voltage should match between the
incoming source_cap and the registered snk_pdo
For Variable/Batt pdos: The incoming source_cap voltage
range should fall within the registered snk_pdo's voltage
range.
Also, when the cap_mismatch bit is set, the max_power/current
should be set to the max_current/power of the sink_pdo.
This is according to:
"If the Capability Mismatch bit is set to one
The Maximum Operating Current/Power field may contain a value
larger than the maximum current/power offered in the Source
Capabilities message’s PDO as referenced by the Object position field.
This enables the Sink to indicate that it requires more current/power
than is being offered. If the Sink requires a different voltage this
will be indicated by its Sink Capabilities message.

The source and sink caps should follow the following rules.
This patch validates whether the src_caps/snk_caps adheres
to it.
6.4.1 Capabilities Message
A Capabilities message (Source Capabilities message or Sink
Capabilities message) shall have at least one Power
Data Object for vSafe5V. The Capabilities message shall also
contain the sending Port’s information followed by up to
6 additional Power Data Objects. Power Data Objects in a
Capabilities message shall be sent in the following order:
1. The vSafe5V Fixed Supply Object shall always be the first object.
2. The remaining Fixed Supply Objects, if present, shall be sent
in voltage order; lowest to highest.
3. The Battery Supply Objects, if present shall be sent in Minimum
Voltage order; lowest to highest.
4. The Variable Supply (non-battery) Objects, if present, shall be
sent in Minimum Voltage order; lowest to highest.
Errors in source/sink_caps of the local port will prevent
the port registration. Whereas, errors in source caps of partner
device would only log them.

This corrects the endpiont type value set to the DbC bulk in endpoint.
The previous value doesn't cause any problems because that we now only
use the bulk out endpoint. Set the hardware with the correct value any
way.

Interface drivers like btusb that don't support reset-resume will be
rebound at resume if port was reset. Rebind is done during the pm_ops
.complete callback when probe returns EPROBE_DEFER as default.
Remove the "rebind failed: -517" message.
Device probe will eventually take place later.

xHC can generate two events for a short transfer if the short TRB and
last TRB in the TD are not the same TRB.
The driver will handle the TD after the first short event, and remove
it from its internal list. Driver then incorrectly prints a warning
for the second event:
"WARN Event TRB for slot x ep y with no TDs queued"
Fix this by not printing a warning if we get a event on a empty list
if the previous event was a short event.

OS descriptor on FFS. From now on we will force the Reserved field to
be 1 as mandated by the specification.
Apart from that, we have a couple other smaller fixes:
- FFS learned to not sleep in atomic context.

- Renesas USB3 has a fix for the maximum number of pipes supported

We've been adding this as a quirk on a per device basis hoping that
newer disk enclosures would do better, but that has not happened,

Sometimes the USB device gets confused about the state of the initialization and
the connection fails. In particular, the device thinks that it's already set up
and running while the host thinks the device still needs to be configured. To
work around this issue, power-cycle the hub's output to issue a sort of "reset"
to the device. This makes the device restart its state machine and then the
initialization succeeds.
This fixes problems where the kernel reports a list of errors like this:

As most of BOS descriptors are longer in length than their header
'struct usb_dev_cap_header', comparing solely with it is not sufficient
to avoid out-of-bounds access to BOS descriptors.
This patch adds descriptor type specific length check in
usb_get_bos_descriptor() to fix the issue.

Fix bus-node lookup during registration, which ended up searching the whole
device tree depth-first starting at the parent (or grand parent) rather
than just matching on its children.
To make things worse, the parent (or grand-parent) node could end being
prematurely freed as well.

Clean up the USB device-node helper that is used to look up a device
node given a parent hub device and a port number. Also pass in a struct
usb_device as first argument to provide some type checking.
Give the helper the more descriptive name usb_of_get_device_node(),
which matches the new usb_of_get_interface_node() helper that is used to
look up a second type of of child node from a USB device.
Note that the terms "device node" and "interface node" are defined and
used by the OF Recommended Practice for USB.

This code looks up a USB device node from a given parent USB device but
never dropped its reference to the returned node.
As only the address of the node is used for a later matching, the
reference can be dropped immediately.
Note that this trigger implementation confuses the description of the
USB device connected to a port with the port itself (which does not have
a device-tree representation).

The expectation in the FUSB302 driver is that a TX_SUCCESS event
should occur after a message has been sent, but before a GCRCSENT
event is raised to indicate successful receipt of a message from
the partner. However in some circumstances it is possible to see
the hardware raise a GCRCSENT event before a TX_SUCCESS event
is raised. The upshot of this is that the GCRCSENT handling portion
of code ends up reporting the GoodCRC message to TCPM because the
TX_SUCCESS event hasn't yet arrived to trigger a consumption of it.
When TX_SUCCESS is then raised by the chip it ends up consuming the
actual message that was meant for TCPM, and this incorrect sequence
results in a hard reset from TCPM.
To avoid this problem, this commit updates the message reading
code to check whether a GoodCRC message was received or not. Based
on this check it will either report that the previous transmission
has completed or it will pass the msg data to TCPM for futher
processing. This way the incorrect ordering of the events no longer
matters.

The specification says that the Reserved1 field in OS_DESC_EXT_COMPAT
must have the value "1", but when this feature was first implemented we
rejected any non-zero values.
This was adjusted to accept all non-zero values (while now rejecting
zero) in commit 53642399aa ("usb: gadget: f_fs: Fix wrong check on
reserved1 of OS_DESC_EXT_COMPAT"), but that breaks any userspace
programs that worked previously by returning EINVAL when Reserved1 == 0
which was previously the only value that succeeded!
If we just set the field to "1" ourselves, both old and new userspace
programs continue to work correctly and, as a bonus, old programs are
now compliant with the specification without having to fix anything
themselves.

Currently UDC core calls ->udc_set_speed() with the speed parameter
containing the maximum speed supported by the gadget function
driver. This might very well be more than that supported by the
UDC controller driver.
Select the lesser of the 2 speeds so both UDC and gadget function
driver are operating within limits.
This fixes PHY Erratic errors and 2 second enumeration delay on
TI's AM437x platforms.
