For sw_flow_actions, the actions_len only represents the kernel part's
size, and when we dump the actions to the userspace, we will do the
convertions, so it's true size may become bigger than the actions_len.
But unfortunately, for OVS_PACKET_ATTR_ACTIONS, we use the actions_len
to alloc the skbuff, so the user_skb's size may become insufficient and
oops will happen like this:

Also we can find that the actions_len is much little than the orig_len:
crash> struct sw_flow_actions 0xffff8812f539d000
struct sw_flow_actions {

},
orig_len = 1384,
actions_len = 592,
actions = 0xffff8812f539d01c
}
So as a quick fix, use the orig_len instead of the actions_len to alloc
the user_skb.
Last, this oops happened on our system running a relative old kernel, but
the same risk still exists on the mainline, since we use the wrong
actions_len from the beginning.

The main purpose of this tracepoint is to monitor bulk dequeue
in the network qdisc layer, as it cannot be deducted from the
existing qdisc stats.
The txq_state can be used for determining the reason for zero packet
dequeues, see enum netdev_queue_state_t.
Notice all packets doesn't necessary activate this tracepoint. As
qdiscs with flag TCQ_F_CAN_BYPASS, can directly invoke

Recently we added a new map type called dev map used to forward XDP
packets between ports (6093ec2dc3). This patches introduces a
similar notion for sockets.
A sockmap allows users to add participating sockets to a map. When
sockets are added to the map enough context is stored with the
map entry to use the entry with a new helper
bpf_sk_redirect_map(map, key, flags)
This helper (analogous to bpf_redirect_map in XDP) is given the map
and an entry in the map. When called from a sockmap program, discussed
below, the skb will be sent on the socket using skb_send_sock().
With the above we need a bpf program to call the helper from that will
then implement the send logic. The initial site implemented in this
series is the recv_sock hook. For this to work we implemented a map
attach command to add attributes to a map. In sockmap we add two
programs a parse program and a verdict program. The parse program
uses strparser to build messages and pass them to the verdict program.
The parse programs use the normal strparser semantics. The verdict
program is of type SK_SKB.
The verdict program returns a verdict SK_DROP, or SK_REDIRECT for
now. Additional actions may be added later. When SK_REDIRECT is
returned, expected when bpf program uses bpf_sk_redirect_map(), the
sockmap logic will consult per cpu variables set by the helper routine
and pull the sock entry out of the sock map. This pattern follows the
existing redirect logic in cls and xdp programs.
This gives the flow,
recv_sock -> str_parser (parse_prog) -> verdict_prog -> skb_send_sock
\
-> kfree_skb
As an example use case a message based load balancer may use specific
logic in the verdict program to select the sock to send on.
Sample programs are provided in future patches that hopefully illustrate
the user interfaces. Also selftests are in follow-on patches.

A class of programs, run from strparser and soon from a new map type
called sock map, are used with skb as the context but on established
sockets. By creating a specific program type for these we can use
bpf helpers that expect full sockets and get the verifier to ensure
these helpers are not used out of context.
The new type is BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_SKB. This patch introduces the
infrastructure and type.

IPv6 routes currently lack nexthop flags as in IPv4. This has several
implications.
In the forwarding path, it requires us to check the carrier state of the
nexthop device and potentially ignore a linkdown route, instead of
checking for RTNH_F_LINKDOWN.
It also requires capable drivers to use the user facing IPv6-specific
route flags to provide offload indication, instead of using the nexthop
flags as in IPv4.
Add nexthop flags to IPv6 routes in the 40 bytes hole and use it to
provide offload indication instead of the RTF_OFFLOAD flag, which is
removed while it's still not part of any official kernel release.
In the near future we would like to use the field for the
RTNH_F_{LINKDOWN,DEAD} flags, but this change is more involved and might

When a dst is created by addrconf_dst_alloc() for a host route or an
anycast route, dst->dev points to loopback dev while rt6->rt6i_idev
points to a real device.
When the real device goes down, the current cleanup code only checks for
dst->dev and assumes rt6->rt6i_idev->dev is the same. This causes the
refcount leak on the real device in the above situation.
This patch makes sure to always release the refcount taken on
rt6->rt6i_idev during dst_dev_put().

In the function msg_reverse(), we reverse the header while trying to
reuse the original buffer whenever possible. Those rejected/returned
messages are always transmitted as unicast, but the msg_non_seq field
is not explicitly set to zero as it should be.
We have seen cases where multicast senders set the message type to
"NOT dest_droppable", meaning that a multicast message shorter than
one MTU will be returned, e.g., during receive buffer overflow, by
reusing the original buffer. This has the effect that even the
'msg_non_seq' field is inadvertently inherited by the rejected message,
although it is now sent as a unicast message. This again leads the
receiving unicast link endpoint to steer the packet toward the broadcast
link receive function, where it is dropped. The affected unicast link is
thereafter (after 100 failed retransmissions) declared 'stale' and
reset.
We fix this by unconditionally setting the 'msg_non_seq' flag to zero
for all rejected/returned messages.

On L2 bearers, the TIPC broadcast function is sending out packets using
the corresponding L2 broadcast address. At reception, we filter such
packets under the assumption that they will also be delivered as
broadcast packets.
This assumption doesn't always hold true. Under high load, we have seen
that a switch may convert the destination address and deliver the packet
as a PACKET_MULTICAST, something leading to inadvertently dropped
packets and a stale and reset broadcast link.
We fix this by extending the reception filtering to accept packets of
type PACKET_MULTICAST.

For this reason net->dev_base_seq can't change under out feet while

The DSA layer frees the original skb when an xmit function returns NULL,
meaning an error occurred. But if the tagging code copied the original
skb, it is responsible of freeing the copy if an error occurs.
The ksz tagging code currently has two issues: if skb_put_padto fails,
the skb copy is not freed, and the original skb will be freed twice.
To fix that, move skb_put_padto inside both branches of the skb_tailroom
condition, before freeing the original skb, and free the copy on error.

On systems that use mark-based routing it may be necessary for
routing lookups to use marks in order for packets to be routed
correctly. An example of such a system is Android, which uses
socket marks to route packets via different networks.
Currently, routing lookups in tunnel mode always use a mark of
zero, making routing incorrect on such systems.
This patch adds a new output_mark element to the xfrm state and
a corresponding XFRMA_OUTPUT_MARK netlink attribute. The output
mark differs from the existing xfrm mark in two ways:
1. The xfrm mark is used to match xfrm policies and states, while
the xfrm output mark is used to set the mark (and influence
the routing) of the packets emitted by those states.
2. The existing mark is constrained to be a subset of the bits of
the originating socket or transformed packet, but the output
mark is arbitrary and depends only on the state.
The use of a separate mark provides additional flexibility. For
example:
- A packet subject to two transforms (e.g., transport mode inside
tunnel mode) can have two different output marks applied to it,
one for the transport mode SA and one for the tunnel mode SA.
- On a system where socket marks determine routing, the packets
emitted by an IPsec tunnel can be routed based on a mark that
is determined by the tunnel, not by the marks of the
unencrypted packets.
- Support for setting the output marks can be introduced without
breaking any existing setups that employ both mark-based
routing and xfrm tunnel mode. Simply changing the code to use
the xfrm mark for routing output packets could xfrm mark could
change behaviour in a way that breaks these setups.
If the output mark is unspecified or set to zero, the mark is not
set or changed.

The splat is correct; as rtnl_register doesn't grab any logs
and doesn't use rcu locks either. It has always been like this.
handler families are not registered in parallel so there are no
races wrt. the kmalloc ordering.
The only reason to use rcu_dereference in the first place was to
avoid sparse from complaining about this.
Thus this switches to _raw() to not have rcu checks here.
The alternative is to add rtnl locking to register/unregister,
however, I don't see a compelling reason to do so as this has been

RPS and probably other kernel features are currently broken on some if not
all DSA devices. The root cause of this is that skb_hash will call the
flow_dissector. At this point the skb still contains the magic switch
header and the skb->protocol field is not set up to the correct 802.3
value yet. By the time the tag specific code is called, removing the header
and properly setting the protocol an invalid hash is already set. In the

function is only called as part of per-namespace initialization, only if
CONFIG_IP_MULTICAST is defined, otherwise igmp_mc_init() call in ip_init is
compiled out, casuing the igmp pernet ops to not be registerd and those sysctl
being left initialized with 0. However, there are certain functions, such as

When a link between two nodes come up, both endpoints will initially
send out a STATE message to the peer, to increase the probability that
the peer endpoint also is up when the first traffic message arrives.
Thereafter, if the establishing link is the second link between two
nodes, this first "traffic" message is a TUNNEL_PROTOCOL/SYNCH message,
helping the peer to perform initial synchronization between the two
links.
However, the initial STATE message may be lost, in which case the SYNCH
message will be the first one arriving at the peer. This should also
work, as the SYNCH message itself will be used to take up the link
endpoint before initializing synchronization.
Unfortunately the code for this case is broken. Currently, the link is
brought up through a tipc_link_fsm_evt(ESTABLISHED) when a SYNCH
arrives, whereupon __tipc_node_link_up() is called to distribute the
link slots and take the link into traffic. But, __tipc_node_link_up() is
itself starting with a test for whether the link is up, and if true,
returns without action. Clearly, the tipc_link_fsm_evt(ESTABLISHED) call
is unnecessary, since tipc_node_link_up() is itself issuing such an
event, but also harmful, since it inhibits tipc_node_link_up() to
perform the test of its tasks, and the link endpoint in question hence
is never taken into traffic.
This problem has been exposed when we set up dual links between pre-
and post-4.4 kernels, because the former ones don't send out the
initial STATE message described above.
We fix this by removing the unnecessary event call.

Even if we'd add rtnl lock/unlock pair to unregister_all (as done here),

There is only a single place in the kernel that regisers the "calcit"
callback (to determine min allocation for dumps).
This is in rtnetlink.c for PF_UNSPEC RTM_GETLINK.
The function that checks for calcit presence at run time will first check
the requested family (which will always fail for !PF_UNSPEC as no callsite
registers this), then falls back to checking PF_UNSPEC.
Therefore we can just check if type is RTM_GETLINK and then do a direct
call. Because of fallback to PF_UNSPEC all RTM_GETLINK types used this
regardless of family.
This has the advantage that we don't need to allocate space for
the function pointer for all the other families.
A followup patch will drop the calcit function pointer from the
rtnl_link callback structure.

Currently, eBPF only understands BPF_JGT (>), BPF_JGE (>=),
BPF_JSGT (s>), BPF_JSGE (s>=) instructions, this means that
particularly *JLT/*JLE counterparts involving immediates need
to be rewritten from e.g. X < [IMM] by swapping arguments into
[IMM] > X, meaning the immediate first is required to be loaded
into a register Y := [IMM], such that then we can compare with
Y > X. Note that the destination operand is always required to
be a register.
This has the downside of having unnecessarily increased register
pressure, meaning complex program would need to spill other
registers temporarily to stack in order to obtain an unused
register for the [IMM]. Loading to registers will thus also
affect state pruning since we need to account for that register
use and potentially those registers that had to be spilled/filled
again. As a consequence slightly more stack space might have
been used due to spilling, and BPF programs are a bit longer
due to extra code involving the register load and potentially
required spill/fills.
Thus, add BPF_JLT (<), BPF_JLE (<=), BPF_JSLT (s<), BPF_JSLE (s<=)
counterparts to the eBPF instruction set. Modifying LLVM to
remove the NegateCC() workaround in a PoC patch at [1] and
allowing it to also emit the new instructions resulted in
cilium's BPF programs that are injected into the fast-path to
have a reduced program length in the range of 2-3% (e.g.
accumulated main and tail call sections from one of the object
file reduced from 4864 to 4729 insns), reduced complexity in
the range of 10-30% (e.g. accumulated sections reduced in one
of the cases from 116432 to 88428 insns), and reduced stack
usage in the range of 1-5% (e.g. accumulated sections from one
of the object files reduced from 824 to 784b).
The modification for LLVM will be incorporated in a backwards
compatible way. Plan is for LLVM to have i) a target specific
option to offer a possibility to explicitly enable the extension
by the user (as we have with -m target specific extensions today
for various CPU insns), and ii) have the kernel checked for
presence of the extensions and enable them transparently when
the user is selecting more aggressive options such as -march=native
in a bpf target context. (Other frontends generating BPF byte

skb_warn_bad_offload triggers a warning when an skb enters the GSO
stack at __skb_gso_segment that does not have CHECKSUM_PARTIAL
checksum offload set.
Commit b2504a5dbe ("net: reduce skb_warn_bad_offload() noise")
observed that SKB_GSO_DODGY producers can trigger the check and
that passing those packets through the GSO handlers will fix it
up. But, the software UFO handler will set ip_summed to
CHECKSUM_NONE.
When __skb_gso_segment is called from the receive path, this
triggers the warning again.
Make UFO set CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY instead of CHECKSUM_NONE. On
Tx these two are equivalent. On Rx, this better matches the
skb state (checksum computed), as CHECKSUM_NONE here means no
checksum computed.

This patch implements a new type of lightweight tunnel named seg6local.
A seg6local lwt is defined by a type of action and a set of parameters.
The action represents the operation to perform on the packets matching the
lwt's route, and is not necessarily an encapsulation. The set of parameters
are arguments for the processing function.
Each action is defined in a struct seg6_action_desc within
seg6_action_table[]. This structure contains the action, mandatory
attributes, the processing function, and a static headroom size required by
the action. The mandatory attributes are encoded as a bitmask field. The
static headroom is set to a non-zero value when the processing function
always add a constant number of bytes to the skb (e.g. the header size for
encapsulations).
To facilitate rtnetlink-related operations such as parsing, fill_encap,
and cmp_encap, each type of action parameter is associated to three
function pointers, in seg6_action_params[].
All actions defined in seg6_local.h are detailed in [1].

This patch introduces tfilter_del_notify() so that we can

RTM_DELTFILTER in tcf_fill_node() any more.
This prepares for the next patch.

__ip_options_echo() uses the current network namespace, and
currently retrives it via skb->dst->dev.
This commit adds an explicit 'net' argument to __ip_options_echo()
and update all the call sites to provide it, usually via a simpler
sock_net().

skb->dst and we can drop a couple of hack to preserve such
info in the rx path.

While computing the response option set for LSRR, ip_options_echo()
also changes the ingress packet LSRR addresses list, setting
the last one to the dst specific address for the ingress packet
- via memset(start[ ...
The only visible effect of such change - beyond possibly damaging
shared/cloned skbs - is modifying the data carried by ICMP replies
changing the header information for reported the ingress packet,
which violates RFC1122 3.2.2.6.
All the others call sites just ignore the ingress packet IP options
after calling ip_options_echo()
Note that the last element in the LSRR option address list for the
reply packet will be properly set later in the ip output path
via ip_options_build().
This buggy memset() predates git history and apparently was present
into the initial ip_options_echo() implementation in linux 1.3.30 but
still looks wrong.
The removal of the fib_compute_spec_dst() call will help
completely dropping the skb->dst usage by __ip_options_echo() with a
later patch.

Enable support for MSG_ZEROCOPY to the TCP stack. TSO and GSO are
both supported. Only data sent to remote destinations is sent without
copying. Packets looped onto a local destination have their payload
copied to avoid unbounded latency.
Tested:
A 10x TCP_STREAM between two hosts showed a reduction in netserver
process cycles by up to 70%, depending on packet size. Systemwide,
savings are of course much less pronounced, at up to 20% best case.
msg_zerocopy.sh 4 tcp:
without zerocopy
tx=121792 (7600 MB) txc=0 zc=n
rx=60458 (7600 MB)
with zerocopy
tx=286257 (17863 MB) txc=286257 zc=y
rx=140022 (17863 MB)
This test opens a pair of sockets over veth, one one calls send with
64KB and optionally MSG_ZEROCOPY and on the other reads the initial
bytes. The receiver truncates, so this is strictly an upper bound on
what is achievable. It is more representative of sending data out of
a physical NIC (when payload is not touched, either).

In the simple case, each sendmsg() call generates data and eventually
a zerocopy ready notification N, where N indicates the Nth successful
invocation of sendmsg() with the MSG_ZEROCOPY flag on this socket.
TCP and corked sockets can cause send() calls to append new data to an
existing sk_buff and, thus, ubuf_info. In that case the notification
must hold a range. odify ubuf_info to store a inclusive range [N..N+m]
and add skb_zerocopy_realloc() to optionally extend an existing range.
Also coalesce notifications in this common case: if a notification
[1, 1] is about to be queued while [0, 0] is the queue tail, just modify
the head of the queue to read [0, 1].
Coalescing is limited to a few TSO frames worth of data to bound
notification latency.

Prepare the datapath for refcounted ubuf_info. Clone ubuf_info with
skb_zerocopy_clone() wherever needed due to skb split, merge, resize
or clone.
Split skb_orphan_frags into two variants. The split, merge, .. paths
support reference counted zerocopy buffers, so do not do a deep copy.
Add skb_orphan_frags_rx for paths that may loop packets to receive
sockets. That is not allowed, as it may cause unbounded latency.
Deep copy all zerocopy copy buffers, ref-counted or not, in this path.
The exact locations to modify were chosen by exhaustively searching
through all code that might modify skb_frag references and/or the
the SKBTX_DEV_ZEROCOPY tx_flags bit.
The changes err on the safe side, in two ways.
(1) legacy ubuf_info paths virtio and tap are not modified. They keep
a 1:1 ubuf_info to sk_buff relationship. Calls to skb_orphan_frags
still call skb_copy_ubufs and thus copy frags in this case.

The send call ignores unknown flags. Legacy applications may already
unwittingly pass MSG_ZEROCOPY. Continue to ignore this flag unless a
socket opts in to zerocopy.
Introduce socket option SO_ZEROCOPY to enable MSG_ZEROCOPY processing.
Processes can also query this socket option to detect kernel support
for the feature. Older kernels will return ENOPROTOOPT.

Refine skb_copy_ubufs to support compound pages. With upcoming TCP
zerocopy sendmsg, such fragments may appear.
The existing code replaces each page one for one. Splitting each
compound page into an independent number of regular pages can result
in exceeding limit MAX_SKB_FRAGS if data is not exactly page aligned.
Instead, fill all destination pages but the last to PAGE_SIZE.
Split the existing alloc + copy loop into separate stages:
1. compute bytelength and minimum number of pages to store this.
2. allocate
3. copy, filling each page except the last to PAGE_SIZE bytes
4. update skb frag array

Fix a TCP loss recovery performance bug raised recently on the netdev
list, in two threads:
(i) July 26, 2017: netdev thread "TCP fast retransmit issues"
(ii) July 26, 2017: netdev thread:
"[PATCH V2 net-next] TLP: Don't reschedule PTO when there's one
outstanding TLP retransmission"
The basic problem is that incoming TCP packets that did not indicate
forward progress could cause the xmit timer (TLP or RTO) to be rearmed
and pushed back in time. In certain corner cases this could result in
the following problems noted in these threads:
- Repeated ACKs coming in with bogus SACKs corrupted by middleboxes
could cause TCP to repeatedly schedule TLPs forever. We kept
sending TLPs after every ~200ms, which elicited bogus SACKs, which
caused more TLPs, ad infinitum; we never fired an RTO to fill in
the holes.
- Incoming data segments could, in some cases, cause us to reschedule
our RTO or TLP timer further out in time, for no good reason. This
could cause repeated inbound data to result in stalls in outbound
data, in the presence of packet loss.
This commit fixes these bugs by changing the TLP and RTO ACK
processing to:
(a) Only reschedule the xmit timer once per ACK.
(b) Only reschedule the xmit timer if tcp_clean_rtx_queue() deems the
ACK indicates sufficient forward progress (a packet was
cumulatively ACKed, or we got a SACK for a packet that was sent
before the most recent retransmit of the write queue head).
This brings us back into closer compliance with the RFCs, since, as
the comment for tcp_rearm_rto() notes, we should only restart the RTO
timer after forward progress on the connection. Previously we were
restarting the xmit timer even in these cases where there was no
forward progress.
As a side benefit, this commit simplifies and speeds up the TCP timer
arming logic. We had been calling inet_csk_reset_xmit_timer() three
times on normal ACKs that cumulatively acknowledged some data:
1) Once near the top of tcp_ack() to switch from TLP timer to RTO:
if (icsk->icsk_pending == ICSK_TIME_LOSS_PROBE)
tcp_rearm_rto(sk);
2) Once in tcp_clean_rtx_queue(), to update the RTO:
if (flag & FLAG_ACKED) {
tcp_rearm_rto(sk);
3) Once in tcp_ack() after tcp_fastretrans_alert() to switch from RTO
to TLP:
if (icsk->icsk_pending == ICSK_TIME_RETRANS)
tcp_schedule_loss_probe(sk);
This commit, by only rescheduling the xmit timer once per ACK,
simplifies the code and reduces CPU overhead.
This commit was tested in an A/B test with Google web server
traffic. SNMP stats and request latency metrics were within noise
levels, substantiating that for normal web traffic patterns this is a
rare issue. This commit was also tested with packetdrill tests to
verify that it fixes the timer behavior in the corner cases discussed
in the netdev threads mentioned above.
This patch is a bug fix patch intended to be queued for -stable
relases.

Have tcp_schedule_loss_probe() base the TLP scheduling decision based
on when the RTO *should* fire. This is to enable the upcoming xmit
timer fix in this series, where tcp_schedule_loss_probe() cannot
assume that the last timer installed was an RTO timer (because we are
no longer doing the "rearm RTO, rearm RTO, rearm TLP" dance on every
ACK). So tcp_schedule_loss_probe() must independently figure out when
an RTO would want to fire.
In the new TLP implementation following in this series, we cannot
assume that icsk_timeout was set based on an RTO; after processing a
cumulative ACK the icsk_timeout we see can be from a previous TLP or
RTO. So we need to independently recalculate the RTO time (instead of
reading it out of icsk_timeout). Removing this dependency on the
nature of icsk_timeout makes things a little easier to reason about
anyway.
Note that the old and new code should be equivalent, since they are
both saying: "if the RTO is in the future, but at an earlier time than
the normal TLP time, then set the TLP timer to fire when the RTO would
have fired".

Similar to commit 1c677b3d28 ("ipv4: fib: Add fib_info_hold() helper")
and commit b423cb1080 ("ipv4: fib: Export free_fib_info()") add an
helper to hold a reference on rt6_info and export rt6_release() to drop
it and potentially release the route.

When an interface is brought back up, the kernel tries to restore the
host routes tied to its permanent addresses.
However, if the host route was removed from the FIB, then we need to
reinsert it. This is done by releasing the current dst and allocating a
new, so as to not reuse a dst with obsolete values.
Since this function is called under RTNL and using the same explanation
from the previous patch, we can test if the route is in the FIB by
checking its node pointer instead of its reference count.
Tested using the following script and Andrey's reproducer mentioned
in commit 8048ced9be ("net: ipv6: regenerate host route if moved to gc
list") and linked below:
$ ip link set dev lo up
$ ip link add dummy1 type dummy
$ ip -6 address add cafe::1/64 dev dummy1
$ ip link set dev lo down # cafe::1/128 is removed
$ ip link set dev dummy1 up
$ ip link set dev lo up

When the loopback device is brought back up we need to check if the host
route attached to the address is still in the FIB and regenerate one in
case it's not.
Host routes using the loopback device are always inserted into and
removed from the FIB under RTNL (under which this function is called),
so we can test their node pointer instead of the reference count in
order to check if the route is in the FIB or not.
Tested using the following script from Nicolas mentioned in
commit a220445f9f ("ipv6: correctly add local routes when lo goes up"):
$ ip link add dummy1 type dummy
$ ip link set dummy1 up
$ ip link set lo down ; ip link set lo up

The code currently assumes that only FIB nodes can hold a reference on
routes. Therefore, after fib6_purge_rt() has run and the route is no
longer present in any intermediate nodes, it's assumed that its
reference count would be 1 - taken by the node where it's currently
stored.
However, we're going to allow users other than the FIB to take a
reference on a route, so this assumption is no longer valid and the
BUG_ON() needs to be removed.
Note that purging only takes place if the initial reference count is
different than 1. I've left that check intact, as in the majority of
systems (where routes are only referenced by the FIB), it does actually
mean the route is present in intermediate nodes.

Dump all the FIB tables in each net namespace upon registration to the
FIB notification chain so that the callee will have a complete view of
the tables.
The integrity of the dump is ensured by a per-table sequence counter
that is incremented (under write lock) whenever a route is added or
deleted from the table.
All the sequence counters are read (under each table's read lock) and
summed, prior and after the dump. In case the counters differ, then the
dump is either restarted or the registration fails.
While it's possible for a table to be modified after its counter has
been read, this isn't really a problem. In case it happened before it
was read the second time, then the comparison at the end will fail. If
it happened afterwards, then we're guaranteed to be notified about the
change, as the notification block is registered prior to the second
read.

As with IPv4, allow listeners of the FIB notification chain to receive
notifications whenever a route is added, replaced or deleted. This is
done by placing calls to the FIB notification chain in the two lowest
level functions that end up performing these operations - namely,
fib6_add_rt2node() and fib6_del_route().
Unlike IPv4, APPEND notifications aren't sent as the kernel doesn't
distinguish between "append" (NLM_F_CREATE|NLM_F_APPEND) and "prepend"
(NLM_F_CREATE). If NLM_F_EXCL isn't set, duplicate routes are always
added after the existing duplicate routes.

Unlike the routing tables, the FIB rules share a common core, so instead
of replicating the same logic for each address family we can simply dump

added or deleted (under RTNL).

The FIB notification chain is currently soley used by IPv4 code.
However, we're going to introduce IPv6 FIB offload support, which
requires these notification as well.
As explained in commit c3852ef7f2 ("ipv4: fib: Replay events when
registering FIB notifier"), upon registration to the chain, the callee
receives a full dump of the FIB tables and rules by traversing all the
net namespaces. The integrity of the dump is ensured by a per-namespace
sequence counter that is incremented whenever a change to the tables or
rules occurs.
In order to allow more address families to use the chain, each family is
expected to register its fib_notifier_ops in its pernet init. These
operations allow the common code to read the family's sequence counter
as well as dump its tables and rules in the given net namespace.
Additionally, a 'family' parameter is added to sent notifications, so
that listeners could distinguish between the different families.
Implement the common code that allows listeners to register to the chain
and for address families to register their fib_notifier_ops. Subsequent
patches will implement these operations in IPv6.
In the future, ipmr and ip6mr will be extended to provide these
notifications as well.

After commit c2ed1880fd ("net: ipv6: check route protocol when
deleting routes"), ipv6 route checks rt protocol when trying to
remove a rt entry.
It introduced a side effect causing 'ip -6 route flush cache' not
to work well. When flushing caches with iproute, all route caches
get dumped from kernel then removed one by one by sending DELROUTE
requests to kernel for each cache.
The thing is iproute sends the request with the cache whose proto
is set with RTPROT_REDIRECT by rt6_fill_node() when kernel dumps
it. But in kernel the rt_cache protocol is still 0, which causes
the cache not to be matched and removed.
So the real reason is rt6i_protocol in the route is not set when
it is allocated. As David Ahern's suggestion, this patch is to
set rt6i_protocol properly in the route when it is installed and
remove the codes setting rtm_protocol according to rt6i_flags in
rt6_fill_node.
This is also an improvement to keep rt6i_protocol consistent with
rtm_protocol.

The 'dir' parameter in xfrm_migrate() is a user-controlled byte which is used
as an array index. This can lead to an out-of-bound access, kernel lockup and
DoS. Add a check for the 'dir' value.
This fixes CVE-2017-11600.

If the sender switches the congestion control during ECN-triggered
cwnd-reduction state (CA_CWR), upon exiting recovery cwnd is set to
the ssthresh value calculated by the previous congestion control. If
the previous congestion control is BBR that always keep ssthresh
to TCP_INIFINITE_SSTHRESH, cwnd ends up being infinite. The safe
step is to avoid assigning invalid ssthresh value when recovery ends.

If an incoming packet undergoes XFRM crypto-offload, its secpath is
filled with xfrm_offload struct denoting offload information.
If the SKB is then forwarded to a device which supports crypto-
offload, the stack wrongfully attempts to offload it (even though
the output SA may not exist on the device) due to the leftover
secpath xo.
Clear the ingress xo by zeroizing secpath->olen just before
delivering the decapsulated packet to the network stack.

Both ip6_input_finish (non-GRO) and esp6_gro_receive (GRO) strip
the IPv6 header without adjusting skb->csum accordingly. As a
result CHECKSUM_COMPLETE breaks and "hw csum failure" is written
to the kernel log by netdev_rx_csum_fault (dev.c).
Fix skb->csum by substracting the checksum value of the pulled IPv6
header using a call to skb_postpull_rcsum.
This affects both transport and tunnel modes.
Note that the fix occurs far from the place that the header was
pulled. This is based on existing code, see:

xfrm6_transport_finish rebuilds the IPv6 header based on the
original one and pushes it back without fixing skb->csum.
Therefore, CHECKSUM_COMPLETE is no longer valid and the packet
gets dropped.
Fix skb->csum by calling skb_postpush_rcsum.

the change is not needed in the sibling xfrm4_transport_finish

In the case that GRO is turned on and the original received packet is
CHECKSUM_PARTIAL, if the outer UDP header is exactly at the last
csum-unnecessary point, which for instance could occur if the packet
comes from another Linux guest on the same Linux host, we have to do
either remcsum_adjust or set up CHECKSUM_PARTIAL again with its
csum_start properly reset considering RCO.
However, since b7fe10e5eb ("gro: Fix remcsum offload to deal with frags
in GRO") that barrier in such case could be skipped if GRO turned on,
hence we pass over it and the inner L4 validation mistakenly reckons
it as a bad csum.
This patch makes remcsum_offload being reset at the same time of GRO
remcsum cleanup, so as to make it work in such case as before.

Skb frags may contain compound pages. Various operations map frags
temporarily using kmap_atomic, but this function works on single
pages, not whole compound pages. The distinction is only relevant
for high mem pages that require temporary mappings.
Introduce a looping mechanism that for compound highmem pages maps
one page at a time, does not change behavior on other pages.
Use the loop in the kmap_atomic callers in net/core/skbuff.c.
Verified by triggering skb_copy_bits with
tcpdump -n -c 100 -i ${DEV} -w /dev/null &
netperf -t TCP_STREAM -H ${HOST}

Since commit 67a51780ae ("ipv6: udp: leverage scratch area
helpers") udp6_recvmsg() read the skb len from the scratch area,
to avoid a cache miss.
But the UDP6 rx path support RFC 2675 UDPv6 jumbograms, and their
length exceeds the 16 bits available in the scratch area. As a side
effect the length returned by recvmsg() is:
<ingress datagram len> % (1<<16)
This commit addresses the issue allocating one more bit in the
IP6CB flags field and setting it for incoming jumbograms.
Such field is still in the first cacheline, so at recvmsg()
time we can check it and fallback to access skb->len if
required, without a measurable overhead.

Michał reported a NULL pointer deref during fib_sync_down_dev() when
unregistering a netdevice. The problem is that we don't check for
'in_dev' being NULL, which can happen in very specific cases.
Usually routes are flushed upon NETDEV_DOWN sent in either the netdev or
the inetaddr notification chains. However, if an interface isn't
configured with any IP address, then it's possible for host routes to be
flushed following NETDEV_UNREGISTER, after NULLing dev->ip_ptr in
inetdev_destroy().
To reproduce:
$ ip link add type dummy
$ ip route add local 1.1.1.0/24 dev dummy0
$ ip link del dev dummy0

prequeue is a tcp receive optimization that moves part of rx processing
from bh to process context.
This only works if the socket being processed belongs to a process that
is blocked in recv on that socket.
In practice, this doesn't happen anymore that often because nowadays
servers tend to use an event driven (epoll) model.
Even normal client applications (web browsers) commonly use many tcp
connections in parallel.
This has measureable impact only in netperf (which uses plain recv and
thus allows prequeue use) from host to locally running vm (~4%), however,
there were no changes when using netperf between two physical hosts with
ixgbe interfaces.

Discussion during NFWS 2017 in Faro has shown that the current
conntrack behaviour is unreasonable.
Even if conntrack module is loaded on behalf of a single net namespace,
its turned on for all namespaces, which is expensive. Commit
481fa37347 ("netfilter: conntrack: add nf_conntrack_default_on sysctl")
attempted to provide an alternative to the 'default on' behaviour by
adding a sysctl to change it.
However, as Eric points out, the sysctl only becomes available
once the module is loaded, and then its too late.
So we either have to move the sysctl to the core, or, alternatively,
change conntrack to become active only once the rule set requires this.
This does the latter, conntrack is only enabled when a rule needs it.

switch to lockless lockup. write side now also increments sequence
counter. On lookup, sample counter value and only take the lock
if we did not find a match and the counter has changed.
This avoids need to write to private area in normal (lookup) cases.
In case we detect a writer (seqretry is true) we fall back to taking
the readlock.
The readlock is also used during dumps to ensure we get a consistent
tree walk.
Similar technique (rbtree+seqlock) was used by David Howells in rxrpc.

nft_trace_notify() is called only from __nft_trace_packet(), which
assigns its parameter 'chain' to info->chain. __nft_trace_packet() in
turn later dereferences 'chain' unconditionally, which indicates that
it's never NULL. Same does nft_do_chain(), the only user of the tracing
infrastructure. Hence it is safe to assume the check removed here is not
needed.

When skb is queued to userspace it leaves softirq/rcu protection.
skb->nfct (via conntrack extensions such as helper) could then reference
modules that no longer exist if the conntrack was not yet confirmed.
nf_ct_iterate_destroy() will set the DYING bit for unconfirmed
conntracks, we therefore solve this race as follows:
1. take the queue spinlock.
2. check if the conntrack is unconfirmed and has dying bit set.
In this case, we must discard skb while we're still inside
rcu read-side section.
3. If nf_ct_iterate_destroy() is called right after the packet is queued
to userspace, it will be removed from the queue via
nf_ct_iterate_destroy -> nf_queue_nf_hook_drop.
When userspace sends the verdict (nfnetlink takes rcu read lock), there
are two cases to consider:
1. nf_ct_iterate_destroy() was called while packet was out.
In this case, skb will have been removed from the queue already
and no reinject takes place as we won't find a matching entry for the
packet id.
2. nf_ct_iterate_destroy() gets called right after verdict callback
found and removed the skb from queue list.
In this case, skb->nfct is marked as dying but it is still valid.
The skb will be dropped either in nf_conntrack_confirm (we don't
insert DYING conntracks into hash table) or when we try to queue
the skb again, but either events don't occur before the rcu read lock
is dropped.

queued skbs might be using conntrack extensions that are being removed,
such as timeout. This happens for skbs that have a skb->nfct in
unconfirmed state (i.e., not in hash table yet).
This is destructive, but there are only two use cases:
- module removal (rare)
- netns cleanup (most likely no conntracks exist, and if they do,
they are removed anyway later on).

This patch fixes an issue in the translation table code potentially
leading to a TT Request + Response storm. The issue may occur for nodes
involving BLA and an inconsistent configuration of the batman-adv AP
isolation feature. However, since the new multicast optimizations, a
single, malformed packet may lead to a mesh-wide, persistent
Denial-of-Service, too.
The issue occurs because nodes are currently OR-ing the TT sync flags of
all originators announcing a specific MAC address via the
translation table. When an intermediate node now receives a TT Request
and wants to answer this on behalf of the destination node, then this
intermediate node now responds with an altered flag field and broken
CRC. The next OGM of the real destination will lead to a CRC mismatch
and triggering a TT Request and Response again.
Furthermore, the OR-ing is currently never undone as long as at least
one originator announcing the according MAC address remains, leading to
the potential persistency of this issue.
This patch fixes this issue by storing the flags used in the CRC
calculation on a a per TT orig entry basis to be able to respond with
the correct, original flags in an intermediate TT Response for one
thing. And to be able to correctly unset sync flags once all nodes
announcing a sync flag vanish for another.

This patch adds support for filtering based on time since last used.
When we are dumping a large number of actions it is useful to
have the option of filtering based on when the action was last
used to reduce the amount of data crossing to user space.
With this patch the user space app sets the TCA_ROOT_TIME_DELTA
attribute with the value in milliseconds with "time of interest
since now". The kernel converts this to jiffies and does the
filtering comparison matching entries that have seen activity
since then and returns them to user space.
Old kernels and old tc continue to work in legacy mode since
they dont specify this attribute.
Some example (we have 400 actions bound to 400 filters); at
installation time. Using updated when tc setting the time of
interest to 120 seconds earlier (we see 400 actions):
prompt$ hackedtc actions ls action gact since 120000| grep index | wc -l
400
go get some coffee and wait for > 120 seconds and try again:
prompt$ hackedtc actions ls action gact since 120000 | grep index | wc -l
0
Lets see a filter bound to one of these actions:
....
filter pref 10 u32
filter pref 10 u32 fh 800: ht divisor 1
filter pref 10 u32 fh 800::800 order 2048 key ht 800 bkt 0 flowid 1:10 (rule hit 2 success 1)

Action statistics:
Sent 84 bytes 1 pkt (dropped 0, overlimits 0 requeues 0)

....
that coffee took long, no? It was good.
Now lets ping -c 1 127.0.0.2, then run the actions again:
prompt$ hackedtc actions ls action gact since 120 | grep index | wc -l

When you dump hundreds of thousands of actions, getting only 32 per
dump batch even when the socket buffer and memory allocations allow
is inefficient.
With this change, the user will get as many as possibly fitting
within the given constraints available to the kernel.
The top level action TLV space is extended. An attribute
TCA_ROOT_FLAGS is used to carry flags; flag TCA_FLAG_LARGE_DUMP_ON
is set by the user indicating the user is capable of processing
these large dumps. Older user space which doesnt set this flag
doesnt get the large (than 32) batches.
The kernel uses the TCA_ROOT_COUNT attribute to tell the user how many
actions are put in a single batch. As such user space app knows how long
to iterate (independent of the type of action being dumped)
instead of hardcoded maximum of 32 thus maintaining backward compat.
Some results dumping 1.5M actions below:
first an unpatched tc which doesnt understand these features...
prompt$ time -p tc actions ls action gact | grep index | wc -l
1500000
real 1388.43
user 2.07
sys 1386.79
Now lets see a patched tc which sets the correct flags when requesting
a dump:
prompt$ time -p updatedtc actions ls action gact | grep index | wc -l
1500000
real 178.13
user 2.02
sys 176.96
That is about 8x performance improvement for tc app which sets its
receive buffer to about 32K.

Forward Error Correction (FEC) modes i.e Base-R
and Reed-Solomon modes are introduced in 25G/40G/100G standards
for providing good BER at high speeds. Various networking devices
which support 25G/40G/100G provides ability to manage supported FEC
modes and the lack of FEC encoding control and reporting today is a
source for interoperability issues for many vendors.
FEC capability as well as specific FEC mode i.e. Base-R
or RS modes can be requested or advertised through bits D44:47 of
base link codeword.
This patch set intends to provide option under ethtool to manage

Off : Turning off any encoding

Auto : IEEE defaults for the speed/medium combination
Here are a few examples of what we would expect if encoding=auto:
- if autoneg is on, we are expecting FEC to be negotiated as on or off
as long as protocol supports it
- if the hardware is capable of detecting the FEC encoding on it's
receiver it will reconfigure its encoder to match
- in absence of the above, the configuration would be set to IEEE
defaults.
>From our understanding , this is essentially what most hardware/driver
combinations are doing today in the absence of a way for users to
control the behavior.

When an early demuxed packet reaches __udp6_lib_lookup_skb(), the
sk reference is retrieved and used, but the relevant reference
count is leaked and the socket destructor is never called.
Beyond leaking the sk memory, if there are pending UDP packets
in the receive queue, even the related accounted memory is leaked.
In the long run, this will cause persistent forward allocation errors
and no UDP skbs (both ipv4 and ipv6) will be able to reach the
user-space.
Fix this by explicitly accessing the early demux reference before
the lookup, and properly decreasing the socket reference count
after usage.
Also drop the skb_steal_sock() in __udp6_lib_lookup_skb(), and
the now obsoleted comment about "socket cache".
The newly added code is derived from the current ipv4 code for the
similar path.

Historically, dev_ifsioc() uses struct sockaddr as mac
address definition, this is why dev_set_mac_address()
accepts a struct sockaddr pointer as input but now we
have various types of mac addresse whose lengths
are up to MAX_ADDR_LEN, longer than struct sockaddr,
and saved in dev->addr_len.
It is too late to fix dev_ifsioc() due to API
compatibility, so just reject those larger than
sizeof(struct sockaddr), otherwise we would read
and use some random bytes from kernel stack.
Fortunately, only a few IPv6 tunnel devices have addr_len
larger than sizeof(struct sockaddr) and they don't support
ndo_set_mac_addr(). But with team driver, in lb mode, they
can still be enslaved to a team master and make its mac addr
length as the same.

Although HID itself is transport-agnostic, occasionally a driver may
want to interact with the low-level transport that a device is connected
through. To do this, we need to know what kind of bus is in use. The
first guess may be to look at the 'bus' field of the 'struct hid_device',
but this field may be emulated in some cases (e.g. uhid).
More ideally, we can check which ll_driver a device is using. This
function introduces a 'hid_is_using_ll_driver' function and makes the
'struct hid_ll_driver' of the four most common transports accessible

In dccp_v6_conn_request, after reqsk gets alloced and hashed into
ehash table, reqsk's refcnt is set 3. one is for req->rsk_timer,
one is for hlist, and the other one is for current using.
The problem is when dccp_v6_conn_request returns and finishes using
reqsk, it doesn't put reqsk. This will cause reqsk refcnt leaks and
reqsk obj never gets freed.
Jianlin found this issue when running dccp_memleak.c in a loop, the
system memory would run out.
dccp_memleak.c:
int s1 = socket(PF_INET6, 6, IPPROTO_IP);
bind(s1, &sa1, 0x20);
listen(s1, 0x9);
int s2 = socket(PF_INET6, 6, IPPROTO_IP);
connect(s2, &sa1, 0x20);
close(s1);
close(s2);
This patch is to put the reqsk before dccp_v6_conn_request returns,
just as what tcp_conn_request does.

RFC 2465 defines ipv6IfStatsOutFragFails as:
"The number of IPv6 datagrams that have been discarded
because they needed to be fragmented at this output
interface but could not be."
The existing implementation, instead, would increase the counter
twice in case we fail to allocate room for single fragments:
once for the fragment, once for the datagram.
This didn't look intentional though. In one of the two affected
affected failure paths, the double increase was simply a result
of a new 'goto fail' statement, introduced to avoid a skb leak.
The other path appears to be affected since at least 2.6.12-rc2.

Paul Moore reported a SELinux/IP_PASSSEC regression
caused by missing skb->sp at recvmsg() time. We need to
preserve the skb head state to process the IP_CMSG_PASSSEC
cmsg.
With this commit we avoid releasing the skb head state in the
BH even if a secpath is attached to the current skb, and stores
the skb status (with/without head states) in the scratch area,
so that we can access it at skb deallocation time, without
incurring in cache-miss penalties.
This also avoids misusing the skb CB for ipv6 packets,
as introduced by the commit 0ddf3fb2c4 ("udp: preserve
skb->dst if required for IP options processing").

There are multiple reports showing we have a use-after-free in
the timer prb_retire_rx_blk_timer_expired(), where we use struct
tpacket_kbdq_core::pkbdq, a pg_vec, after it gets freed by
free_pg_vec().
The interesting part is it is not freed via packet_release() but
via packet_setsockopt(), which means we are not closing the socket.
Looking into the big and fat function packet_set_ring(), this could
happen if we satisfy the following conditions:
1. closing == 0, not on packet_release() path
2. req->tp_block_nr == 0, we don't allocate a new pg_vec
3. rx_ring->pg_vec is already set as V3, which means we already called
packet_set_ring() wtih req->tp_block_nr > 0 previously
4. req->tp_frame_nr == 0, pass sanity check
5. po->mapped == 0, never called mmap()
In this scenario we are clearing the old rx_ring->pg_vec, so we need
to free this pg_vec, but we don't stop the timer on this path because
of closing==0.
The timer has to be stopped as long as we need to free pg_vec, therefore
the check on closing!=0 is wrong, we should check pg_vec!=NULL instead.

====================
rxrpc: Rearrange headers
Here's a pair of patches that rearrange some of the AF_RXRPC header files
that are outside of the net/rxrpc/ directory:
(1) The bits userspace need are moved to uapi/linux/rxrpc.h. [Should this
be af_rxrpc.h instead, I wonder - but there doesn't seem to be
precedent for that in the other net UAPI headers.]
(2) For the most part, the contents of rxrpc/packet.h are no longer used
outside of the AF_RXRPC module, so move them to net/rxrpc/protocol.h
with the exception of the standard abort codes which are exposed to
userspace when an abort occurs and the security index values which are
needed when constructing keys.

NETIF_F_RX_UDP_TUNNEL_PORT is special, in that we need to do more than
just flip the bit in dev->features. When disabling we must also clear
currently offloaded ports from the device, and when enabling we must
tell the device to offload the ports it can.
Because vxlan stores its sockets in a hashtable and they are inserted at
the head of per-bucket lists, switching the feature off and then on can
result in a different set of ports being offloaded (depending on the

This patch removes duplicate rcu_read_lock().
1. IPVS part:
According to Julian Anastasov's mention, contexts of ipvs are described
at: http://marc.info/?l=netfilter-devel&m=149562884514072&w=2, in summary:
- packet RX/TX: does not need locks because packets come from hooks.
- sync msg RX: backup server uses RCU locks while registering new
connections.
- ip_vs_ctl.c: configuration get/set, RCU locks needed.
- xt_ipvs.c: It is a netfilter match, running from hook context.
As result, rcu_read_lock and rcu_read_unlock can be removed from:
- ip_vs_core.c: all
- ip_vs_ctl.c:
- only from ip_vs_has_real_service
- ip_vs_ftp.c: all
- ip_vs_proto_sctp.c: all
- ip_vs_proto_tcp.c: all
- ip_vs_proto_udp.c: all
- ip_vs_xmit.c: all (contains only packet processing)
2. Netfilter part:
There are three types of functions that are guaranteed the rcu_read_lock().
First, as result, functions are only called by nf_hook():
- nf_conntrack_broadcast_help(), pptp_expectfn(), set_expected_rtp_rtcp().
- tcpmss_reverse_mtu(), tproxy_laddr4(), tproxy_laddr6().
- match_lookup_rt6(), check_hlist(), hashlimit_mt_common().
- xt_osf_match_packet().
Second, functions that caller already held the rcu_read_lock().
- destroy_conntrack(), ctnetlink_conntrack_event().
- ctnl_timeout_find_get(), nfqnl_nf_hook_drop().
Third, functions that are mixed with type1 and type2.
These functions are called by nf_hook() also these are called by
ordinary functions that already held the rcu_read_lock():
- __ctnetlink_glue_build(), ctnetlink_expect_event().
- ctnetlink_proto_size().
Applied files are below:
- nf_conntrack_broadcast.c, nf_conntrack_core.c, nf_conntrack_netlink.c.
- nf_conntrack_pptp.c, nf_conntrack_sip.c, nfnetlink_cttimeout.c.
- nfnetlink_queue.c, xt_TCPMSS.c, xt_TPROXY.c, xt_addrtype.c.
- xt_connlimit.c, xt_hashlimit.c, xt_osf.c

css_task_iter currently always walks all tasks. With the scheduled
cgroup v2 thread support, the iterator would need to handle multiple
types of iteration. As a preparation, add @flags to
css_task_iter_start() and implement CSS_TASK_ITER_PROCS. If the flag
is not specified, it walks all tasks as before. When asserted, the
iterator only walks the group leaders.
For now, the only user of the flag is cgroup v2 "cgroup.procs" file
which no longer needs to skip non-leader tasks in cgroup_procs_next().
Note that cgroup v1 "cgroup.procs" can't use the group leader walk as
v1 "cgroup.procs" doesn't mean "list all thread group leaders in the
cgroup" but "list all thread group id's with any threads in the
cgroup".
While at it, update cgroup_procs_show() to use task_pid_vnr() instead
of task_tgid_vnr(). As the iteration guarantees that the function
only sees group leaders, this doesn't change the output and will allow
sharing the function for thread iteration.

Commit 3d4762639d ("tcp: remove poll() flakes when receiving
RST") in v4.12 changed the order in which ->sk_state_change()
and ->sk_error_report() are called when a socket is shut
down - sk_state_change() is now called first.
This causes xs_tcp_state_change() -> xs_sock_mark_closed() ->
xprt_disconnect_done() to wake all pending tasked with -EAGAIN.
When the ->sk_error_report() callback arrives, it is too late to
pass the error on, and it is lost.
As easy way to demonstrate the problem caused is to try to start
rpc.nfsd while rcpbind isn't running.
nfsd will attempt a tcp connection to rpcbind. A ECONNREFUSED
error is returned, but sunrpc code loses the error and keeps
retrying. If it saw the ECONNREFUSED, it would abort.
To fix this, handle the sk->sk_err in the TCP_CLOSE branch of
xs_tcp_state_change().

Move the protocol description header file into net/rxrpc/ and rename it to
protocol.h. It's no longer necessary to expose it as packets are no longer
exposed to kernel services (such as AFS) that use the facility.
The abort codes are transferred to the UAPI header instead as we pass these
back to userspace and also to kernel services.

Net stack initialization currently initializes fib-trie after the
first call to netdevice_notifier() call. In fact fib_trie initialization
needs to happen before first rtnl_register(). It does not cause any problem
since there are no devices UP at this moment, but trying to bring 'lo'
UP at initialization would make this assumption wrong and exposes the issue.

virtnet_set_mac_address() interprets mac address as struct

which is ETH_ALEN + sizeof(sa_family_t) in this case.
We lack a unified definition for mac address, so just fix
the upper layer, this also allows drivers to interpret it

This patch adjusts the timeout formula to schedule the TCP loss probe
(TLP). The previous formula uses 2*SRTT or 1.5*RTT + DelayACKMax if
only one packet is in flight. It keeps a lower bound of 10 msec which
is too large for short RTT connections (e.g. within a data-center).
The new formula = 2*RTT + (inflight == 1 ? 200ms : 2ticks) which
performs better for short and fast connections.

When calling the flow_free() to free the flow, we call many times
(cpu_possible_mask, eg. 128 as default) cpumask_next(). That will
take up our CPU usage if we call the flow_free() frequently.
When we put all packets to userspace via upcall, and OvS will send
them back via netlink to ovs_packet_cmd_execute(will call flow_free).
The test topo is shown as below. VM01 sends TCP packets to VM02,
and OvS forward packtets. When testing, we use perf to report the
system performance.

With this patch, the TCP throughput(we dont use Megaflow Cache
+ Microflow Cache) between VMs is 1.18Gbs/sec up to 1.30Gbs/sec
(maybe ~10% performance imporve).
This patch adds cpumask struct, the cpu_used_mask stores the cpu_id
that the flow used. And we only check the flow_stats on the cpu we
used, and it is unncessary to check all possible cpu when getting,
cleaning, and updating the flow_stats. Adding the cpu_used_mask to
sw_flow struct does’t increase the cacheline number.

When we delete a netns with a CLUSTERIP rule, clusterip_net_exit() is
called first, removing /proc/net/ipt_CLUSTERIP.
Then clusterip_config_entry_put() is called from clusterip_tg_destroy(),
and tries to remove its entry under /proc/net/ipt_CLUSTERIP/.
Fix this by checking that the parent directory of the entry to remove
hasn't already been deleted.
The following triggers a KASAN splat (stealing the reproducer from

Netfilter fixes for net
The following patchset contains Netfilter fixes for your net tree,
they are:
1) Missing netlink message sanity check in nfnetlink, patch from
Mateusz Jurczyk.
2) We now have netfilter per-netns hooks, so let's kill global hook
infrastructure, this infrastructure is known to be racy with netns.
We don't care about out of tree modules. Patch from Florian Westphal.
3) find_appropriate_src() is buggy when colissions happens after the
conversion of the nat bysource to rhashtable. Also from Florian.
4) Remove forward chain in nf_tables arp family, it's useless and it is
causing quite a bit of confusion, from Florian Westphal.
5) nf_ct_remove_expect() is called with the wrong parameter, causing
kernel oops, patch from Florian Westphal.

Eric noticed that in udp_recvmsg() we still need to access
skb->dst while processing the IP options.
Since commit 0a463c78d2 ("udp: avoid a cache miss on dequeue")
skb->dst is no more available at recvmsg() time and bad things
will happen if we enter the relevant code path.
This commit address the issue, avoid clearing skb->dst if
any IP options are present into the relevant skb.
Since the IP CB is contained in the first skb cacheline, we can
test it to decide to leverage the consume_stateless_skb()
optimization, without measurable additional cost in the faster
path.

retain last used xfrm_dst in a pcpu cache.
On next request, reuse this dst if the policies are the same.
The cache will not help with strict RR workloads as there is no hit.
The cache packet-path part is reasonably small, the notifier part is
needed so we do not add long hangs when a device is dismantled but some
pcpu xdst still holds a reference, there are also calls to the flush
operation when userspace deletes SAs so modules can be removed
(there is no hit.
We need to run the dst_release on the correct cpu to avoid races with
packet path. This is done by adding a work_struct for each cpu and then
doing the actual test/release on each affected cpu via schedule_work_on().
