Commit dfb09f9b7a ("x86, amd: Avoid cache aliasing penalties
on AMD family 15h") introduced a kernel command line parameter
called 'align_va_addr' which still refers to arguments used in
an earlier version of the patch and which got changed without
updating the documentation. Correct that omission.

Currently only the address of the pre-allocated ELF header is passed with
the elfcorehdr= kernel parameter. In order to reserve memory for the header
in the 2nd kernel also the size is required. Current kdump architecture
backends use different methods to do that, e.g. x86 uses the memmap= kernel
parameter. On s390 there is no easy way to transfer this information.
Therefore the elfcorehdr kernel parameter is extended to also pass the size.
This now can also be used as standard mechanism by all future kdump
architecture backends.
The syntax of the kernel parameter is extended as follows:
elfcorehdr=[size[KMG]@]offset[KMG]
This change is backward compatible because elfcorehdr=size is still allowed.

Patch "PM / Hibernate: Add resumewait param to support MMC-like

Some devices like MMC are async detected very slow. For example,
drivers/mmc/host/sdhci.c launches a 200ms delayed work to detect
MMC partitions then add disk.
We have wait_for_device_probe() and scsi_complete_async_scans()
before calling swsusp_check(), but it is not enough to wait for MMC.
This patch adds resumewait kernel param just like rootwait so
that we have enough time to wait until MMC is ready. The difference is
that we wait for resume partition whereas rootwait waits for rootfs
partition (which may be on a different device).
This patch will make hibernation support many embedded products
without SCSI devices, but with devices like MMC.

On the platforms which are x2apic and interrupt-remapping
capable, Linux kernel is enabling x2apic even if the BIOS
doesn't. This is to take advantage of the features that x2apic
brings in.
Some of the OEM platforms are running into issues because of
this, as their bios is not x2apic aware. For example, this was
resulting in interrupt migration issues on one of the platforms.
Also if the BIOS SMI handling uses APIC interface to send SMI's,
then the BIOS need to be aware of x2apic mode that OS has
enabled.
On some of these platforms, BIOS doesn't have a HW mechanism to
turnoff the x2apic feature to prevent OS from enabling it.
To resolve this mess, recent changes to the VT-d2 specification:
http://download.intel.com/technology/computing/vptech/Intel(r)_VT_for_Direct_IO.pdf
includes a mechanism that provides BIOS a way to request system
software to opt out of enabling x2apic mode.
Look at the x2apic optout flag in the DMAR tables before
enabling the x2apic mode in the platform. Also print a warning
that we have disabled x2apic based on the BIOS request.
Kernel boot parameter "intremap=no_x2apic_optout" can be used to
override the BIOS x2apic optout request.

There are three choices:
vsyscall=native: Vsyscalls are native code that issues the
corresponding syscalls.
vsyscall=emulate (default): Vsyscalls are emulated by instruction
fault traps, tested in the bad_area path. The actual contents of
the vsyscall page is the same as the vsyscall=native case except
that it's marked NX. This way programs that make assumptions about
what the code in the page does will not be confused when they read
that code.
vsyscall=none: Trying to execute a vsyscall will segfault.

This patch provides performance tuning for the "Bulldozer" CPU. With its
shared instruction cache there is a chance of generating an excessive
number of cache cross-invalidates when running specific workloads on the
cores of a compute module.
This excessive amount of cross-invalidations can be observed if cache
lines backed by shared physical memory alias in bits [14:12] of their
virtual addresses, as those bits are used for the index generation.
This patch addresses the issue by clearing all the bits in the [14:12]
slice of the file mapping's virtual address at generation time, thus
forcing those bits the same for all mappings of a single shared library
across processes and, in doing so, avoids instruction cache aliases.
It also adds the command line option "align_va_addr=(32|64|on|off)" with
which virtual address alignment can be enabled for 32-bit or 64-bit x86
individually, or both, or be completely disabled.
This change leaves virtual region address allocation on other families
and/or vendors unaffected.

When a kernel BUG or oops occurs, ChromeOS intends to panic and
immediately reboot, with stacktrace and other messages preserved in RAM
across reboot.
But the longer we delay, the more likely the user is to poweroff and
lose the info.
panic_timeout (seconds before rebooting) is set by panic= boot option or
sysctl or /proc/sys/kernel/panic; but 0 means wait forever, so at
present we have to delay at least 1 second.
Let a negative number mean reboot immediately (with the small cosmetic
benefit of suppressing that newline-less "Rebooting in %d seconds.."
message).

The idea is from Avi:
| Maybe it's time to kill off bypass_guest_pf=1. It's not as effective as
| it used to be, since unsync pages always use shadow_trap_nonpresent_pte,
| and since we convert between the two nonpresent_ptes during sync and unsync.

This patch implements the kvm bits of the steal time infrastructure.
The most important part of it, is the steal time clock. It is an
continuous clock that shows the accumulated amount of steal time
since vcpu creation. It is supposed to survive cpu offlining/onlining.

pstore only allows one backend to be registered at present, but the
system may provide several. Add a parameter to allow the user to choose
which backend will be used rather than just relying on load order.

There is a problem with putting the first kernel in EFI virtual mode,
it is that when the second kernel comes up it tries to initialize the
EFI again and once we have put EFI in virtual mode we can not really
do that.
Actually, EFI is not necessary for kdump, we can boot the second kernel
with "noefi" parameter, but the boot will mostly fail because 2nd kernel
cannot find RSDP.
In this situation, we introduced "acpi_rsdp=" kernel parameter, so that
kexec-tools can pass the "noefi acpi_rsdp=X" to the second kernel to
make kdump works. The physical address of the RSDP can be got from
sysfs(/sys/firmware/efi/systab).

Multiple attempts to dynamically reallocate pci resources have
unfortunately lead to regressions. Though we continue to fix the
regressions and fine tune the dynamic-reallocation behavior, we have not
reached a acceptable state yet.
This patch provides a interim solution. It disables dynamic reallocation
by default, but adds the ability to enable it through pci=realloc kernel
command line parameter.

Back in 2006 the "udbg-immortal" kernel option has been introduced:

...but I could not find it documented anywhere in the sources.
This patch adds it to Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt.

Some USB mass-storage devices have bugs that cause them not to handle
the first READ(10) command they receive correctly. The Corsair
Padlock v2 returns completely bogus data for its first read (possibly
it returns the data in encrypted form even though the device is
supposed to be unlocked). The Feiya SD/SDHC card reader fails to
complete the first READ(10) command after it is plugged in or after a
new card is inserted, returning a status code that indicates it thinks
the command was invalid, which prevents the kernel from retrying the
read.
Since the first read of a new device or a new medium is for the
partition sector, the kernel is unable to retrieve the device's
partition table. Users have to manually issue an "hdparm -z" or
"blockdev --rereadpt" command before they can access the device.
This patch (as1470) works around the problem. It adds a new quirk
flag, US_FL_INVALID_READ10, indicating that the first READ(10) should
always be retried immediately, as should any failing READ(10) commands
(provided the preceding READ(10) command succeeded, to avoid getting
stuck in a loop). The patch also adds appropriate unusual_devs
entries containing the new flag.
