The approach is straightforward: for dataset ops, if a key was offered, find the encryption root and the various encryption parameters, derive a wrapping key if necessary, and then unlock the encryption root. After that all the regular dataset ops will return unencrypted data, and that's kinda the whole thing. OpenZFS is an advanced file system and volume manager which was originally developed for Solaris and is now maintained by the OpenZFS community. This repository contains the code for running OpenZFS on Linux and FreeBSD.

Supported Kernels
- The
METAfile contains the officially recognized supported Linux kernel versions. - Supported FreeBSD versions are any supported branches and releases starting from 12.2-RELEASE.
