Rather than trying to implement full i18n plural support, we just remove
this failed attempt from the past. The fact is that to get proper
support, we'd basically need to reimplement a Gettext-like plural
definition syntax within our API, then ask people to write down this
plural definition for their language, then to write every plural form…
all this for custom units which only them will ever see!
Moreover code investigation shows that the singular form was simply
never used, and the plural form was always used (whatever the actual
unit value displayed).
As for the "identifier", this was a text which was never shown anywhere
(except in the unit editor) and for all built-in units, as well as
default unitrc units, it was equivalent to the English plural value.
So we now just have a unique name which is the "long label" to be used
everywhere in the GUI, and abbreviation will be basically the "short
label". That's it. No useless (or worse, not actually usable because it
was not generic internationalization) values anymore!
This fixes all our GObject Introspection issues with GimpUnit which was
both an enum and an int-derived type of user-defined units *completing*
the enum values. GIR clearly didn't like this!
Now GimpUnit is a proper class and units are unique objects, allowing to
compare them with an identity test (i.e. `unit == gimp_unit_pixel ()`
tells us if unit is the pixel unit or not), which makes it easy to use,
just like with int, yet adding also methods, making for nicer
introspected API.
As an aside, this also fixes#10738, by having all the built-in units
retrievable even if libgimpbase had not been properly initialized with
gimp_base_init().
I haven't checked in details how GIR works to introspect, but it looks
like it loads the library to inspect and runs functions, hence
triggering some CRITICALS because virtual methods (supposed to be
initialized with gimp_base_init() run by libgimp) are not set. This new
code won't trigger any critical because the vtable method are now not
necessary, at least for all built-in units.
Note that GimpUnit is still in libgimpbase. It could have been moved to
libgimp in order to avoid any virtual method table (since we need to
keep core and libgimp side's units in sync, PDB is required), but too
many libgimpwidgets widgets were already using GimpUnit. And technically
most of GimpUnit logic doesn't require PDB (only the creation/sync
part). This is one of the reasons why user-created GimpUnit list is
handled and stored differently from other types of objects.
Globally this simplifies the code a lot too and we don't need separate
implementations of various utils for core and libgimp, which means less
prone to errors.
Adds a class "gimp-offset-area-frame" to the frame containing a GimpOffsetArea in resize dialogues.
This allows the styling from 2.10 to be applied to indicate canvas size when resizing layers.
Since GimpOffsetArea is a GtkDrawingArea object, it can't have CSS directly
applied to it - that's why the class is added to the frame instead.
Since the recent changes to add template ability, there are just too
many widgets stacked up vertically. Let's use a little better the
horizontal space.
To do this, I moved the preview on the right side of the "Canvas Size"
and "Offset" number fields, and the "Center" button just below it.
which will be shown when selected template pixel density don't
match the image pixel density.
Then user can either keep current image ppi and scale the
template or set image ppi to match the template ppi.
Density selector displayed only when template and image ppi
differs and template unit is matches one of real world units
(e.g. inch, mm, etc).
Closes: GNOME/gimp#1140
Adds option for selecting predefined page sizes using the same
template selector as on "New Image" dialog.
Syncs up size and offset unit selectors to have the same value
when changing template and when resetting whole dialog.
These actions raise a GimpViewableDialog. For this to work, I made this
widget work with a list of GimpViewable, not a single viewable anymore
(so maybe the widget class name should change?).
When this list contains only a single GimpViewable, it will display
exactly like before, with a viewable preview. With several viewables,
the preview won't show.
This allows to add masks to all selected layers at once, with the same
basic options for all masks, as set in the dialog.
resize_dialog_new(): create the preview with "popup = TRUE", so we
really get a preview of layer size and not of the layer within the
image context like used for the layers dialog.
Try to sort all GIMP_ICON_* defines into FDO categories like in
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/latest/ar01s04.html
Add defines for all icons we override, rename some icons to their FDO
standard names, and mark the ones we duplicate with a comment so we
don't forget to rename those to standard names in 3.0.
Nobody has them anymore, and they are deprecated in GTK+ 3.x. This
also fixes all conflicting mnemonics except those I missed, but we can
fix them now.
Add a GimpFillType argument to GimpItem::resize() and fill type
widgets to the canvas and layer resize dialogs. Fill the new parts of
the drawable according to fill type in gimp_drawable_resize(). Make
sure places that need the old behavior get GIMP_FILL_TRANSPARENT
passed by hardcoding it in the GimpItem::resize() implemetations of
channel, mask, selection etc.
because the packing options are different for GtkH/VBox and GtkBox
itself which is now instantiable. Instead, always use
gtk_box_pack_start() and specify expanding explicitely.
