upper limit for memory sizes. It must be smaller than G_MAXDOUBLE
since our memsize entry doesn't handle anything larger.

check against GIMP_MAX_MEMSIZE, not G_MAXDOUBLE.

G_MAXULONG. The latter is larger than G_MAXDOUBLE on 64bit

consequence, got rid of more global variables. The global

there. Will reeplace them by some less ugly hack later...

Handle gtk-doc just like GTK+ does it now:
* configure.in: check for gtk-doc version 0.9. Do not build the API
reference by default.
* autogen.sh: pass --enable-gtk-doc to configure.

--enable-gtk-doc to the configure inside.
* NEWS: updated.
Revival of the API reference framework.
