Opacity and brush size are among the 2 most common tool options which
people might want to often change, though we should likely later add all
other common types of tool settings angle, aspect ratio, spacing, etc.
I am also unsure using the enum action is the right call because what it
does is just taking into account the distance from initial click to
compute an opacity. Instead it might be more interesting to increase or
decrease slowly or rapidly by going right or left from the initial
click. We'll see. But it's a first step.
Custom actions are basically any action (currently GtkAction) which can
be assigned a shortcut. Now they can also be assigned to an input device
button (with modifier or not).
* The relative brush size change was not implemented anyway. Maybe later.
* Also changing the defaults to GIMP_MODIFIER_ACTION_BRUSH_PIXEL_SIZE
which I think might be the most understandable size variant.
* Finally re-label "Rotate" to "Rotate View" as per Aryeom's feedback
because just "Rotate" is indeed confusing as it could mean several
different actions in GIMP.
Actually I am renaming GIMP_MODIFIER_ACTION_BRUSH_PIXEL_SIZE into
GIMP_MODIFIER_ACTION_BRUSH_RADIUS_PIXEL_SIZE, which allows to set the
brush size on-canvas, starting from center to border.
The new GIMP_MODIFIER_ACTION_BRUSH_PIXEL_SIZE now sets the brush size
from one border to another.
This object's goal will be to manage customized modifiers per input
device button, which is why I add it to GimpDisplayConfig. It is in its
own new config file (`modifiersrc` in config dir) because it requires
GDK types access (well I could have done without, but it would have been
less semantic, hence not as good of an API). Anyway it is only useful
when running GIMP as GUI.
The GUI widget and the usage code to make this actually useful will come
in upcoming commits.
They are nearly the same as initially, except that now they include an
intermediate stamp header which will be generated by the build system.
The only 2 enums which don't need these includes (and are not versioned)
are libgimp/gimpenums.c and libgimpthumb/gimpthumb-enums.c.
Add a new GimpCanvasLimit canvas item, which draws an area limit
for different shapes. It will be used by the following commits to
implement GimpToolFocus.
Add a new GimpToolTransform3DGrid tool widget, subclassed from
GimpToolTransformGrid, which can be used to perform 3D
transformations.
The widget can be in one of three modes:
CAMERA - allows adjusting the primary vanishing point by moving a
handle.
MOVE - allows moving the object through dragging.
ROTATE - allows rotating the object through dragging.
By default, controlling the transformation through dragging applies
to the X and Y axes. Holding Shift (or setting the "constrain-
axis" property) restricts the motion to only one of the axes.
For the MOVE and ROTATE mode, holding Ctrl (or setting the "z-axis"
property) allows controlling the Z axis instead.
For the same modes, holding Alt (or setting the "local-frame"
property), applies the adjustments in the object's local frame of
reference, instead of the display's global frame of reference.
In GimpToolTransformGrid, allow setting "inside-function" and
"outside-function" to a new NONE value, performing no
transformation when dragging the respective area.
More of the files were wrong, or at least not absolutely identical to
the files generated by the autotools. I am not doing any code change
other than trying to make both build systems produce identical files
(except for slight differences on 2 files not worth the effort) even
though maybe some things can be improved (especially on the include
list). Maybe to be improved later.
Also fixing 2 of the previously autotools-generated files because of
space typos which should have been committed earlier.
Finally it is to be noted that there is no logics to copy the generated
files back to the source directory in the meson rules. I am not sure
anyway this is really worth it and maybe we should just stop tracking
these generated files eventually.
Add an "orientation" property to GimpToolCompass, which can be one
of "auto", "horizontal", or "vertical", and which controls the
orientation of the line against which the angle is measured, when
not in 3-point mode (previously, the line would always be
horizontal.) When "orientation" is "auto", the orientation is
automatically set to either horizontal or vertical, such that the
measured angle is <= 45 deg.
Keep the line horizontal, or vertical, in display-space, rather
than in image-space, so that the compass works correctly even when
the canvas is rotated and/or flipped.
Fix the compass's behavior when the image's horizontal and vertical
resolutions are different, both with and without dot-for-dot.
Add "pixel-angle" and "unit-angle" read-only properties, which
return the measured angle either with or without taking the image's
resolution into account, respectively. These properties will be
used by the measure tool in the next commit, instead of having it
implement its own angle calculation.
We check them into git, so this makes it easier to keep them in
sync when using a separate build directory.
Case in point -- this commit also syncs a few enum files that went
out-of-sync with their headers.
You can now set any paint tool to mirror painting relatively
horizontal/vertical axis or a central point (any combination of these 3
symmetries).
This has been implemented as a new multi-stroke core, where every stroke
is actually handled as a multi-stroke (default of size 1).
This is also the first usage of custom guides for symmetry guiding.
Current version has to be activated in the playground.
- don't include <gdk-pixbuf/gdk-pixbuf.h> in headers in app/
- instead, include it in many .c files instead of <glib-object.h>,
finally acknowledging the fact that app/ depends on gdk-pixbuf almost
globally
- fix up includes as if libgimpbase depended in GIO, which it soon will
In order to make a clear separation between the core modules and the
UI modules, move the necessary enums from display-enums.h and
widgets-enums.h to config-enums.h and the files
gimpdisplayoptions.[ch] from the display to the config module. This
removes the config -> display dependency.
This change has three main benefits
* It lets us remove includes of display files from the config module
* We don't have to link gimp-console and test-config with a subset of
object files from the display module
* It is reflected in devel-docs/gimp-module-dependencies.svg that the
application is made up of core modules and UI modules and that no
core module depends on any UI module

Bug 496772 – Position shown in the statusbar needs more
precision (for some tools)
* app/display/display-enums.[ch]: add enum GimpCursorPrecision
which can be one of { PIXEL_CENTER, PIXEL_BORDER, SUBPIXEL }.
* app/display/gimpdisplayshell-cursor.[ch]: add "precision"
parameter to gimp_display_shell_update_cursor() and pass it
on to the statusbar.
* app/display/gimpstatusbar.[ch]: add "precision" parameters to
the cursor coordinates APIs, offset the passed coords accordingly
and display them with one decimal point if SUBPIXEL is requested
and the display's unit is PIXEL. Keep a second floating-point
format string around at any time.
* app/tools/gimptoolcontrol.[ch]: add a "precision" member and API
so tools can configure the precision they need. Defalt to
PIXEL_CENTER since that's right for almost all tools.
* app/display/gimpdisplayshell-callbacks.c: pass the tool's
precision to gimp_display_shell_update_cursor().
* app/tools/gimptool.[ch]: add "precision" parameter to
gimp_tool_push_status_coords() and pass it on to the statusbar.
* app/tools/gimpaligntool.c

* app/tools/gimprectangleselecttool.c
* app/tools/gimprectangletool.c
* app/tools/gimptransformtool.c
* app/tools/gimpvectortool.c: set precision in init() where
needed. Adjust the precision in the fly when needed, e.g. while
moving guides or when toggling hard-edge on paint tools. Also pass
an appropriate precision to gimp_tool_push_status_coords(), which
is not always the tool's precision as used for cursor display.

Don't store human readable and translatable enum/flag strings in
GEnumValue's and GTypeValue's fields but attach them to their

with colors manually but use gimp_display_shell_set_padding()
in realize() and in the color button callbacks.
* app/display/gimpdisplayshell-handlers.c: connect to
notify::monitor-[xy]resolution and
notify::canvas-padding-[mode|color] and update accordingly.
