One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example: struct virtio_scsi { ... struct virtio_scsi_vq req_vqs[]; }; Make use of the struct_size() helper instead of an open-coded version in order to avoid any potential type mistakes. So, replace the following form: sizeof(*vscsi) + sizeof(vscsi->req_vqs[0]) * num_queues with: struct_size(vscsi, req_vqs, num_queues) This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
