When 802.3ad bond mode is configured the ad_actor_system option is set to
"00:00:00:00:00:00". But when trying to set the all-zeroes MAC as actors'
system address it was failing with EINVAL.
An all-zeroes ethernet address is valid, only multicast addresses are not
valid values.

Commit a296d665ea ("ixgbe: Add ethtool support to enable 2.5 and 5.0
Gbps support") introduced suppression of the advertisement of NBASE-T
speeds by default, according to Todd Fujinaka to accommodate customers
with network switches which could not cope with advertised NBASE-T
speeds, as posted in the E1000-devel mailing list:

enable NBASE-T support.

The ice hardware contains an embedded chip with firmware which can be
updated using devlink flash. The firmware which runs on this chip is
referred to as the Embedded Management Processor firmware (EMP
firmware).
Activating the new firmware image currently requires that the system be
rebooted. This is not ideal as rebooting the system can cause unwanted
downtime.
In practical terms, activating the firmware does not always require a
full system reboot. In many cases it is possible to activate the EMP
firmware immediately. There are a couple of different scenarios to
cover.
* The EMP firmware itself can be reloaded by issuing a special update
to the device called an Embedded Management Processor reset (EMP
reset). This reset causes the device to reset and reload the EMP
firmware.
* PCI configuration changes are only reloaded after a cold PCIe reset.
Unfortunately there is no generic way to trigger this for a PCIe
device without a system reboot.
When performing a flash update, firmware is capable of responding with
some information about the specific update requirements.
The driver updates the flash by programming a secondary inactive bank
with the contents of the new image, and then issuing a command to
request to switch the active bank starting from the next load.
The response to the final command for updating the inactive NVM flash
bank includes an indication of the minimum reset required to fully
update the device. This can be one of the following:
* A full power on is required
* A cold PCIe reset is required
* An EMP reset is required
The response to the command to switch flash banks includes an indication
of whether or not the firmware will allow an EMP reset request.
For most updates, an EMP reset is sufficient to load the new EMP
firmware without issues. In some cases, this reset is not sufficient
because the PCI configuration space has changed. When this could cause
incompatibility with the new EMP image, the firmware is capable of
rejecting the EMP reset request.
Add logic to ice_fw_update.c to handle the response data flash update
AdminQ commands.
For the reset level, issue a devlink status notification informing the
user of how to complete the update with a simple suggestion like
"Activate new firmware by rebooting the system".
Cache the status of whether or not firmware will restrict the EMP reset
for use in implementing devlink reload.
Implement support for devlink reload with the "fw_activate" flag. This
allows user space to request the firmware be activated immediately.
For the .reload_down handler, we will issue a request for the EMP reset
using the appropriate firmware AdminQ command. If we know that the
firmware will not allow an EMP reset, simply exit with a suitable
netlink extended ACK message indicating that the EMP reset is not
available.
For the .reload_up handler, simply wait until the driver has finished
resetting. Logic to handle processing of an EMP reset already exists in
the driver as part of its reset and rebuild flows.
Implement support for the devlink reload interface with the
"fw_activate" action. This allows userspace to request activation of
firmware without a reboot.
Note that support for indicating the required reset and EMP reset
restriction is not supported on old versions of firmware. The driver can
determine if the two features are supported by checking the device
capabilities report. I confirmed support has existed since at least
version 5.5.2 as reported by the 'fw.mgmt' version. Support to issue the
EMP reset request has existed in all version of the EMP firmware for the
ice hardware.
Check the device capabilities report to determine whether or not the
indications are reported by the running firmware. If the reset
requirement indication is not supported, always assume a full power on
is necessary. If the reset restriction capability is not supported,
always assume the EMP reset is available.
Users can verify if the EMP reset has activated the firmware by using
the devlink info report to check that the 'running' firmware version has
updated. For example a user might do the following:

$ devlink dev info
# Update the device
$ devlink dev flash pci/0000:af:00.0 file firmware.bin
# Confirm stored version updated
$ devlink dev info
# Reload to activate new firmware
$ devlink dev reload pci/0000:af:00.0 action fw_activate
# Confirm running version updated
$ devlink dev info
Finally, this change does *not* implement basic driver-only reload
support. I did look into trying to do this. However, it requires
significant refactor of how the ice driver probes and loads everything.
The ice driver probe and allocation flows were not designed with such
a reload in mind. Refactoring the flow to support this is beyond the
scope of this change.

Currently, we use hard code number to verify if we are in the
arp_interval timeslice. But some user may want to reduce/extend
the verify timeslice. With the similar team option 'missed_max'
the uers could change that number based on their own environment.

We are changing expire_nodest_conn to work even for reused connections when
conn_reuse_mode=0, just as what was done with commit dc7b3eb900 ("ipvs:
Fix reuse connection if real server is dead").
For controlled and persistent connections, the new connection will get the
needed real server depending on the rules in ip_vs_check_template().

udp_mem is a vector of 3 INTEGERs, which is used to limit the number of
pages allowed for queueing by all UDP sockets.
However, sk_has_memory_pressure() in __sk_mem_raise_allocated() always
return false for udp, as memory pressure is not supported by udp, which
means that __sk_mem_raise_allocated() will fail once pages allocated
for udp socket exceeds udp_mem[0].
Therefor, udp_mem[0] is the only one that limit the number of pages.
However, the document of udp_mem just express that udp_mem[2] is the
limitation. So, just fix it.

In most situations the neighbor discovery cache should be cleared on a
NOCARRIER event which is currently done unconditionally. But for wireless
roams the neighbor discovery cache can and should remain intact since
the underlying network has not changed.
This patch introduces a sysctl option ndisc_evict_nocarrier which can
be disabled by a wireless supplicant during a roam. This allows packets
to be sent after a roam immediately without having to wait for
neighbor discovery.
A user reported roughly a 1 second delay after a roam before packets
could be sent out (note, on IPv4). This delay was due to the ARP
cache being cleared. During testing of this same scenario using IPv6
no delay was noticed, but regardless there is no reason to clear
the ndisc cache for wireless roams.

This change introduces a new sysctl parameter, arp_evict_nocarrier.
When set (default) the ARP cache will be cleared on a NOCARRIER event.
This new option has been defaulted to '1' which maintains existing
behavior.
Clearing the ARP cache on NOCARRIER is relatively new, introduced by:

The reason for this changes is to prevent the ARP cache from being
cleared when a wireless device roams. Specifically for wireless roams
the ARP cache should not be cleared because the underlying network has not
changed. Clearing the ARP cache in this case can introduce significant
delays sending out packets after a roam.

After some investigation it was found that the kernel was holding onto
packets until ARP finished which resulted in this 1 second delay. It
was also found that the first ARP who-has was never responded to,
which is actually what caues the delay. This change is more or less
working around this behavior, but again, there is no reason to clear
the cache on a roam anyways.
As for the unanswered who-has, we know the packet made it OTA since
it was seen while monitoring. Why it never received a response is
unknown. In any case, since this is a problem on the AP side of things
all that can be done is to work around it until it is solved.
Some background on testing/reproducing the packet delay:
Hardware:
- 2 access points configured for Fast BSS Transition (Though I don't
see why regular reassociation wouldn't have the same behavior)
- Wireless station running IWD as supplicant
- A device on network able to respond to pings (I used one of the APs)
Procedure:
- Connect to first AP
- Ping once to establish an ARP entry
- Start a tcpdump
- Roam to second AP
- Wait for operstate UP event, and note the timestamp
- Start pinging
Results:

You can see the first ARP who-has went out very quickly after UP, but
was never responded to. Nearly a second later the kernel retries and
gets a response. Only then do the ping packets go out. If an ARP entry
is manually added prior to UP (after the cache is cleared) it is seen
that the first ping is never responded to, so its not only an issue with
ARP but with data packets in general.
As mentioned prior, the wireless interface was also monitored to verify
the ping/ARP packet made it OTA which was observed to be true.

Event EQ is an EQ which received the notification of almost all the
events generated by the NIC.
Currently, each event EQ is taking 512KB of memory. This size is not
needed in most use cases, and is critical with large scale. Hence,
allow user to configure the size of the event EQ.
For example to reduce event EQ size to 64, execute::
$ devlink resource set pci/0000:00:0b.0 path /event_eq_size/ size 64
$ devlink dev reload pci/0000:00:0b.0

Add log macro which gets log level as a parameter. Use the severity
read from the health buffer and the new log macro to log the health buffer
with severity as log level. Prior to this patch, health buffer was
printed in error log level regardless of its severity. Now the user may
filter dmesg (--level) or change kernel log level to focus on different
severity levels of firmware errors.
