Jelle van der Waa 83f66a6f08 Input: add driver for Zeitec ZET6223
This is a basic driver for the Zeitec ZET6223 I2C touchscreen
controllers. The driver does not support firmware loading, which is not
required for all tablets which contain this chip.

Manuel Lauss 3f5c34c6d4 Input: wm97xx - make missing platform data non-fatal
Commit 6480af4915 ("power_supply: wm97xx_battery: use
power_supply_get_drvdata") made wm97xx platform data mandatory, although
it's still optional.

This patch fixes an oops during driver probe on one of my MIPS boards with

Guenter Roeck 8e1b4d83cf Input: touchscreen - drop unnecessary calls to device_init_wakeup
Calling device_init_wakeup in the remove function is unnecessary since the
device is going away, and thus won't be able to cause any wakeups under any
circumstances. Besides, the driver cleanup code already handles the
necessary cleanup.

Similarly, disabling wakeup in the probe error path is unnecessary, as is
disabling wakeup in the probe function in the first place.

Aniroop Mathur 0eeecf6039 Input: edt_ft5x06 - change msleep to usleep_range for small msecs
msleep(1~20) may not do what the caller intends, and will often sleep
longer (~20 ms actual sleep for any value given in the 1~20ms range). This
is not the desired behaviour for many cases like device resume time, device
suspend time, device enable time, retry logic, etc. Thus, change msleep to
usleep_range for precise wakeups.

Guy Shapiro accbcea346 Input: imx6ul_tsc - convert int to u32
The code uses of_property_read_u32 and expects positive values. However,
the values are stored in signed int variables. Additionally, the registers
values are also stored in signed variables without a good reason
(readl/writel expect u32).

The only time this caused a real bug was in the new average-samples
property, in which the property is numerically compared and implicitly
expected to be positive.

I believe it's better to change all the properties and registers to u32,
for consistency and warnings reduction.

Arnd Bergmann 979987ded3 Input: ektf2127 - mark PM functions as __maybe_unused
The newly added ektf2127 driver uses the SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS macro
to conditionally refer to the resume/suspend functions, which
causes a warning when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is disabled:

drivers/input/touchscreen/ektf2127.c:168:12: error: 'ektf2127_resume' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function]
drivers/input/touchscreen/ektf2127.c:156:12: error: 'ektf2127_suspend' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function]

We could either put these functions inside of an #ifdef or
add __maybe_unused annotations. This uses the second approach,
which is generally more foolproof.

The newnly added debug mode for the atmel_mxt_ts driver relies on
the v4l2 interface and vb2_vmalloc, but those might be configured

in a link failure:

Hans de Goede 4af2ff91ec Input: silead_gsl1680 - use "silead/" prefix for firmware loading
The silead touch-controller ICs use a different firmware per digitizer /
tablet model. So there are going to be quite a few of then and they really
should be under a separate subdir.

This commit prefixes the default firmware names with "silead/" just like
we are already doing for devicetree specified firmware names.

Hans de Goede 43ba588346 Input: silead_gsl1680 - document firmware-name, fix implementation
The driver has supported touchscreen-fw-name to specify the firmware to
load since it has been merged, but this was omitted from the dt-binding
documentation.

During review of adding touchscreen-fw-name to the binding documentation
it was brought up that there is a standard property name called
"firmware-name" for this, which should be used.

Since there are no users of touchscreen-fw-name yet, this commit
adds documentation of "firmware-name" to the dt-binding documentation
and switches the driver over to use this.

This commit also makes the driver add a "silead/" prefix to the
firmware name from dt before calling request_firmware. That the
firmware files are stored under /lib/firmware/silead under Linux
is an implementation detail and does not belong in devicetree.

It queues work items via &wm->ts_reader and &wm->pen_event_work which map

Bhaktipriya Shridhar 62e5147568 Input: mc13783_ts - remove deprecated create_singletheread_workqueue
The workqueue "workqueue" has a single workitem(&priv->work) and hence
doesn't require ordering. Also, it is not being used on a memory reclaim
path. Hence, the singlethreaded workqueue has been replaced with the use
of system_wq.

System workqueues have been able to handle high level of concurrency
for a long time now and hence it's not required to have a singlethreaded
workqueue just to gain concurrency. Unlike a dedicated per-cpu workqueue
created with create_singlethread_workqueue(), system_wq allows multiple
work items to overlap executions even on the same CPU; however, a
per-cpu workqueue doesn't have any CPU locality or global ordering
guarantee unless the target CPU is explicitly specified and thus the
increase of local concurrency shouldn't make any difference.

Workitem is sync cancelled in mc13783_ts_remove() to ensure that there
are no workitems pending when the driver is disconnected.

Hans de Goede d18716542d Input: remove duplicate ft6236 driver
The new(ish) ft6236 simply re-implements the M09 protocol of the
(much) older edt-ft5x06.c driver.

This commit removes this duplicate driver and adds the i2c ids and
dt compatible string to the edt-ft5x06.c driver to keep compatibility.

This commit also adds the standard touchscreen properties as optional
properties to the edt,ft5x06 binding, these were documented in the
focaltech,ft6236 bindingi, but were missing from the edt,ft5x06 doc.

Passes input_id struct to the common probe function for the tsc200x drivers

variable according to the type of touchscreen used. Note that when we

Hans Verkuil 36c0f8b32c [media] vb2: replace void *alloc_ctxs by struct device *alloc_devs
Make this a proper typed array. Drop the old allocate context code since
that is no longer used.

Note that the memops functions now get a struct device pointer instead of
the struct device ** that was there initially (actually a void pointer to
a struct containing only a struct device pointer).

This code is now a lot cleaner.

Linus Torvalds 1eccc6e152 This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel cycle v4.7:
Core infrastructural changes:

 - Support for natively single-ended GPIO driver stages. This
means that if the hardware has registers to configure open
drain or open source configuration, we use that rather than
(as we did before) try to emulate it by switching the line
to an input to get high impedance. This is also documented
throughly in Documentation/gpio/driver.txt for those of you
who did not understand one word of what I just wrote.

 - Start to do away with the unnecessarily complex and
   unitelligible ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB and
   ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB, another evolutional artifact from
the time when the GPIO subsystem was unmaintained. Archs can
now just select GPIOLIB and be done with it, cleanups to
arches will trickle in for the next kernel. Some minor archs
ACKed the changes immediately so these are included in this
   pull request.

 - Advancing the use of the data pointer inside the GPIO device
for storing driver data by switching the PowerPC, Super-H
Unicore and a few other subarches or subsystem drivers in
ALSA SoC, Input, serial, SSB, staging etc to use it.

 - The initialization now reads the input/output state of the
GPIO lines, so that each GPIO descriptor knows - if this
callback is implemented - whether the line is input or
output. This also reflects nicely in userspace "lsgpio".

 - It is now possible to name GPIO producer names, line names,
from the device tree. (Platform data has been supported for
a while.) I bet we will get a similar mechanism for ACPI
one of those days. This makes is possible to get sensible
producer names for e.g. GPIO rails in "lsgpio" in userspace.

 New drivers:

 - New driver for the Loongson1.

 - The XLP driver now supports Broadcom Vulcan ARM64.

 - The IT87 driver now supports IT8620 and IT8628.

 - The PCA953X driver now supports Galileo Gen2.

 Driver improvements:

 - MCP23S08 was switched to use the gpiolib irqchip helpers and
   now also suppors level-triggered interrupts.

 - 74x164 and RCAR now supports the .set_multiple() callback

 - AMDPT was converted to use generic GPIO.

 - TC3589x, TPS65218, SX150X, F7188X, MENZ127, VX855, WM831X, WM8994
support the new single ended callback for open drain
and in some cases open source.

 - Implement the .get_direction() callback for a few more drivers
   like PL061, Xgene.

 Cleanups:

 - Paul Gortmaker combed through the drivers and de-modularized
those who are not really modules.

 - Move the GPIO poweroff DT bindings to the power subdir where
   they belong.

 - Rename gpio-generic.c to gpio-mmio.c, which is much more to the
point. That's what it is handling, nothing more, nothing less.

Nick Dyer eb43335c40 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - use mxt_acquire_irq in mxt_soft_reset
If using IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING, then there is a race here: if the reset
completes before we enable the IRQ, then CHG is already low and touch
will be broken.

This has been seen on Chromebook Pixel 2.

A workaround is to reconfig T18 COMMSCONFIG to enable the RETRIGEN bit
using mxt-app:

Instead of doing the dance with macro that either resolves to a pointer or

Also let's mark suspend and resume methods as __maybe_unused instead of

Stefan Agner 5f2940c4a5 Input: ad7879 - fix default x/y axis assignment
The X/Y position measurements read from the controller are interpreted
wrong. The first measurement X+ contains the Y position, and the second
measurement Y+ the X position (see also Table 11 Register Table in the

The problem is already known and a swap option has been introduced:
commit 6680884a44 ("Input: ad7879 - add option to correct xy axis")

However, the meaning of the new boolean is inverted since the underlying
values are already swapped. Let ts->swap_xy set to true actually be the

Linus Torvalds 6b5a12dbca ARM: SoC multiplatform code changes for v4.5
This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6
and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and
boot the same kernel. It has been a tremendous amount of cleanup and
refactoring by a huge number of people, and creation of several new
(and major) subsystems to better abstract out all the platform details
 in an appropriate manner.

The bulk of this branch is a large patchset from Arnd that brings several
of the more minor and older platforms we have closer to multiplatform
support. Among these are MMP, S3C64xx, Orion5x, mv78xx0 and realview
Much of this is moving around header files from old mach directories,
but there are also some cleanup patches of debug_ll (lowlevel debug
 per-platform options) and other parts.

Linus Walleij also has some patchs to clean up the older ARM Realview
platforms by finally introducing DT support, and Rob Herring has some
for ARM Versatile which is now DT-only. Both of these platforms are
 now multiplatform.

Finally, a couple of patches from Russell for Dove PMU, and a fix from
Valentin Rothberg for Exynos ADC, which were rebased on top of the
 series to avoid conflicts.

Linus Torvalds 58cf279aca GPIO bulk updates for the v4.5 kernel cycle:
Infrastructural changes:

 - In struct gpio_chip, rename the .dev node to .parent to better reflect
the fact that this is not the GPIO struct device abstraction. We will
add that soon so this would be totallt confusing.

 - It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was
sometimes reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting
them to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value()
calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers
returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than zero"
to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit 31 set to
indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error codes. This is
fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all drivers with
!!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to propagate error codes
to consumers. (Includes some ACKed patches in other subsystems.)

 - Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of() design
pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the struct gpio_chip
to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep states internal to
the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state when adding a proper
userspace ABI (character device) further down the road. To achieve this,
drivers need a handle at the internal state that is not dependent on
their struct gpio_chip() so we add gpiochip_add_data() and
gpiochip_get_data() following the pattern of many other subsystems.
All the "use gpiochip data pointer" patches transforms drivers to this
   scheme.

 - The Generic GPIO chip header has been merged into the general
<linux/gpio/driver.h> header, and the custom header for that removed.
Instead of having a separate mm_gpio_chip struct for these generic
drivers, merge that into struct gpio_chip, simplifying the code and
removing the need for separate and confusing includes.

 Misc improvements:

 - Stabilize the way GPIOs are looked up from the ACPI legacy
   specification.

 - Incremental driver features for PXA, PCA953X, Lantiq (patches from the
OpenWRT community), RCAR, Zynq, PL061, 104-idi-48

 New drivers:

 - Add a GPIO chip to the ALSA SoC AC97 driver.

 - Add a new Broadcom NSP SoC driver (this lands in the pinctrl dir, but
the branch is merged here too to account for infrastructural changes).

 - The sx150x driver now supports the sx1502.

Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
"Here is the bulk of GPIO changes for v4.5.

Notably there are big refactorings mostly by myself, aimed at getting
the gpio_chip into a shape that makes me believe I can proceed to
preserve state for a proper userspace ABI (character device) that has
already been proposed once, but resulted in the feedback that I need
to go back and restructure stuff. So I've been restructuring stuff.
On the way I ran into brokenness (return code from the get_value()
callback) and had to fix it. Also, refactored generic GPIO to be
  simpler.

Some of that is still waiting to trickle down from the subsystems all
over the kernel that provide random gpio_chips, I've touched every
single GPIO driver in the kernel now, oh man I didn't know I was
  responsible for so much...

Apart from that we're churning along as usual.

I took some effort to test and retest so it should merge nicely and we
shook out a couple of bugs in -next.

  Infrastructural changes:
