Here are some small char and other driver fixes for 5.5-rc3.
The most noticable one is a much-reported fix for a random driver issue
that came up from 5.5-rc1 compat_ioctl cleanups. The others are a chunk
of habanalab driver fixes and intel_th driver fixes and new device ids.
All have been in linux-next with no reported issues.

Recently, there's been some compat ioctl cleanup, in which large
hardcoded lists were replaced with compat_ptr_ioctl. One of these
changes involved removing the random.c hardcoded list entries and adding
a compat ioctl function pointer to the random.c fops. In the process,
urandom was forgotten about, so this commit fixes that oversight.

When an application sends TPM commands in NONBLOCKING mode
the driver holds chip->tpm_mutex returning from write(),
which triggers: "WARNING: lock held when returning to user space".
To fix this issue the driver needs to release the mutex before
returning and acquire it again in tpm_dev_async_work() before
sending the command.

The original code, before it was moved into security/keys/trusted-keys
had a flush after the blob unseal. Without that flush, the volatile
handles increase in the TPM until it becomes unusable and the system
either has to be rebooted or the TPM volatile area manually flushed.
Fix by adding back the lost flush, which we now have to export because
of the relocation of the trusted key code may cause the consumer to be
modular.

As part of the cleanup of some remaining y2038 issues, I came to
fs/compat_ioctl.c, which still has a couple of commands that need support
for time64_t.
In completely unrelated work, I spent time on cleaning up parts of this
file in the past, moving things out into drivers instead.
After Al Viro reviewed an earlier version of this series and did a lot
more of that cleanup, I decided to try to completely eliminate the rest
of it and move it all into drivers.
This series incorporates some of Al's work and many patches of my own,
but in the end stops short of actually removing the last part, which is
the scsi ioctl handlers. I have patches for those as well, but they need
more testing or possibly a rewrite.

Pull pipe rework from David Howells:
"This is my set of preparatory patches for building a general
notification queue on top of pipes. It makes a number of significant
changes:
- It removes the nr_exclusive argument from __wake_up_sync_key() as
this is always 1. This prepares for the next step:
- Adds wake_up_interruptible_sync_poll_locked() so that poll can be
woken up from a function that's holding the poll waitqueue
spinlock.
- Change the pipe buffer ring to be managed in terms of unbounded
head and tail indices rather than bounded index and length. This
means that reading the pipe only needs to modify one index, not
two.
- A selection of helper functions are provided to query the state of
the pipe buffer, plus a couple to apply updates to the pipe
indices.
- The pipe ring is allowed to have kernel-reserved slots. This allows
many notification messages to be spliced in by the kernel without
allowing userspace to pin too many pages if it writes to the same
pipe.
- Advance the head and tail indices inside the pipe waitqueue lock
and use wake_up_interruptible_sync_poll_locked() to poke poll
without having to take the lock twice.
- Rearrange pipe_write() to preallocate the buffer it is going to
write into and then drop the spinlock. This allows kernel
notifications to then be added the ring whilst it is filling the
buffer it allocated. The read side is stalled because the pipe
mutex is still held.
- Don't wake up readers on a pipe if there was already data in it
when we added more.
- Don't wake up writers on a pipe if the ring wasn't full before we
removed a buffer"

This happens because buffers for the in_vq are allocated when the port is

They are only released when virtconsole is removed (see a7a69ec0d8)
To avoid the problem and to be symmetric, we could allocate all the buffers
in init_vqs() as they are released in remove_vqs(), but it sounds like
a waste of memory.
Rather than that, this patch changes add_port() logic to ignore ENOSPC

cmd/rsp buffers are expected to be in the same ACPI region.
For Zen+ CPUs BIOS's might report two different regions, some of
them also report region sizes inconsistent with values from TPM
registers.
Memory configuration on ASRock x470 ITX:
db0a0000-dc59efff : Reserved
dc57e000-dc57efff : MSFT0101:00
dc582000-dc582fff : MSFT0101:00
Work around the issue by storing ACPI regions declared for the
device in a fixed array and adding an array for pointers to
corresponding possibly allocated resources in crb_map_io function.
This data was previously held for a single resource
in struct crb_priv (iobase field) and local variable io_res in
crb_map_io function. ACPI resources array is used to find index of
corresponding region for each buffer and make the buffer size
consistent with region's length. Array of pointers to allocated
resources is used to map the region at most once.

The current code uses GFP_HIGHMEM, which is wrong because GFP_HIGHMEM
(on 32 bit systems) is memory ordinarily inaccessible to the kernel
and should only be used for allocations affecting userspace. In order
to make highmem visible to the kernel on 32 bit it has to be kmapped,
which consumes valuable entries in the kmap region. Since the tpm_buf
is only ever used in the kernel, switch to using a GFP_KERNEL
allocation so as not to waste kmap space on 32 bits.

Add TPM2.0 PTP FIFO compatible SPI interface for chips with Cr50
firmware. The firmware running on the currently supported H1 Secure
Microcontroller requires a special driver to handle its specifics:
- need to ensure a certain delay between SPI transactions, or else
the chip may miss some part of the next transaction
- if there is no SPI activity for some time, it may go to sleep,
and needs to be waken up before sending further commands
- access to vendor-specific registers
Cr50 firmware has a requirement to wait for the TPM to wakeup before
sending commands over the SPI bus. Otherwise, the firmware could be in
deep sleep and not respond. The method to wait for the device to wakeup
is slightly different than the usual flow control mechanism described in
the TCG SPI spec. Add a completion to tpm_tis_spi_transfer() before we
start a SPI transfer so we can keep track of the last time the TPM
driver accessed the SPI bus to support the flow control mechanism.
Split the cr50 logic off into a different file to keep it out of the
normal code flow of the existing SPI driver while making it all part of
the same module when the code is optionally compiled into the same
module. Export a new function, tpm_tis_spi_init(), and the associated
read/write/transfer APIs so that we can do this. Make the cr50 code wrap
the tpm_tis_spi_phy struct with its own struct to override the behavior
of tpm_tis_spi_transfer() by supplying a custom flow control hook. This
shares the most code between the core driver and the cr50 support
without combining everything into the core driver or exporting module
symbols.

Bug is observed so far only on chipset firmware 1.2.8.28
(1.2 TPM, device-id 0x0, rev-id 78). After some number of
operations chipset hangs and stays in inconsistent state:
tpm_tis 00:09: Operation Timed out

Durations returned by the chip are the same like on other
firmware revisions but apparently with specifically 1.2.8.28 fw
durations should be reset to 2 minutes to enable tpm chip work
properly. No working way of updating firmware was found.

Convert pipes to use head and tail pointers for the buffer ring rather than
pointer and length as the latter requires two atomic ops to update (or a
combined op) whereas the former only requires one.
(1) The head pointer is the point at which production occurs and points to
the slot in which the next buffer will be placed. This is equivalent
to pipe->curbuf + pipe->nrbufs.
The head pointer belongs to the write-side.
(2) The tail pointer is the point at which consumption occurs. It points
to the next slot to be consumed. This is equivalent to pipe->curbuf.
The tail pointer belongs to the read-side.
(3) head and tail are allowed to run to UINT_MAX and wrap naturally. They
are only masked off when the array is being accessed, e.g.:
pipe->bufs[head & mask]
This means that it is not necessary to have a dead slot in the ring as
head == tail isn't ambiguous.
(4) The ring is empty if "head == tail".
A helper, pipe_empty(), is provided for this.
(5) The occupancy of the ring is "head - tail".
A helper, pipe_occupancy(), is provided for this.
(6) The number of free slots in the ring is "pipe->ring_size - occupancy".
A helper, pipe_space_for_user() is provided to indicate how many slots
userspace may use.
(7) The ring is full if "head - tail >= pipe->ring_size".
A helper, pipe_full(), is provided for this.

All watchdog drivers implement the same set of ioctl commands, and
fortunately all of them are compatible between 32-bit and 64-bit
architectures.
Modern drivers always go through drivers/watchdog/wdt.c as an abstraction
layer, but older ones implement their own file_operations on a character
device for this.
Move the handling from fs/compat_ioctl.c into the individual drivers.
Note that most of the legacy drivers will never be used on 64-bit
hardware, because they are for an old 32-bit SoC implementation, but
doing them all at once is safer than trying to guess which ones do
or do not need the compat_ioctl handling.

Commit daae28debc has moved add_early_randomness() out of the
rng_mutex and tries to protect the reference of the new rng device
by incrementing the reference counter.
But in hwrng_register(), the function can be called with a new device
that is not set as the current_rng device and the reference has not been
initialized. This patch fixes the problem by not using the reference
counter when the device is not the current one: the reference counter
is only meaningful in the case of the current rng device and a device
is not used if it is not the current one (except in hwrng_register())

This change is made on user request, and it makes it consistent
with the I2C driver, which has the same behavior.
It does change things a little bit with respect to kernel users.
If the ACPI or IPMI watchdog (or any other kernel user) has
created a user, then the device module cannot be unloaded. Before
it could be unloaded,
This does not affect hot-plug. If the device goes away (it's on

Merge active entropy generation updates.
This is admittedly partly "for discussion". We need to have a way
forward for the boot time deadlocks where user space ends up waiting for
more entropy, but no entropy is forthcoming because the system is
entirely idle just waiting for something to happen.
While this was triggered by what is arguably a user space bug with
GDM/gnome-session asking for secure randomness during early boot, when
they didn't even need any such truly secure thing, the issue ends up
being that our "getrandom()" interface is prone to that kind of
confusion, because people don't think very hard about whether they want
to block for sufficient amounts of entropy.
The approach here-in is to decide to not just passively wait for entropy
to happen, but to start actively collecting it if it is missing. This
is not necessarily always possible, but if the architecture has a CPU
cycle counter, there is a fair amount of noise in the exact timings of
reasonably complex loads.
We may end up tweaking the load and the entropy estimates, but this
should be at least a reasonable starting point.
As part of this, we also revert the revert of the ext4 IO pattern
improvement that ended up triggering the reported lack of external
entropy.
* getrandom() active entropy waiting:
Revert "Revert "ext4: make __ext4_get_inode_loc plug""
random: try to actively add entropy rather than passively wait for it
For 5.3 we had to revert a nice ext4 IO pattern improvement, because it
caused a bootup regression due to lack of entropy at bootup together
with arguably broken user space that was asking for secure random
numbers when it really didn't need to.
See commit 72dbcf7215 (Revert "ext4: make __ext4_get_inode_loc plug").
This aims to solve the issue by actively generating entropy noise using
the CPU cycle counter when waiting for the random number generator to
initialize. This only works when you have a high-frequency time stamp
counter available, but that's the case on all modern x86 CPU's, and on
most other modern CPU's too.
What we do is to generate jitter entropy from the CPU cycle counter
under a somewhat complex load: calling the scheduler while also
guaranteeing a certain amount of timing noise by also triggering a
timer.
I'm sure we can tweak this, and that people will want to look at other
alternatives, but there's been a number of papers written on jitter
entropy, and this should really be fairly conservative by crediting one
bit of entropy for every timer-induced jump in the cycle counter. Not
because the timer itself would be all that unpredictable, but because
the interaction between the timer and the loop is going to be.
Even if (and perhaps particularly if) the timer actually happens on
another CPU, the cacheline interaction between the loop that reads the
cycle counter and the timer itself firing is going to add perturbations
to the cycle counter values that get mixed into the entropy pool.
As Thomas pointed out, with a modern out-of-order CPU, even quite simple
loops show a fair amount of hard-to-predict timing variability even in
the absense of external interrupts. But this tries to take that further
by actually having a fairly complex interaction.
This is not going to solve the entropy issue for architectures that have
no CPU cycle counter, but it's not clear how (and if) that is solvable,
and the hardware in question is largely starting to be irrelevant. And
by doing this we can at least avoid some of the even more contentious
approaches (like making the entropy waiting time out in order to avoid
the possibly unbounded waiting).

Pull kernel lockdown mode from James Morris:
"This is the latest iteration of the kernel lockdown patchset, from
Matthew Garrett, David Howells and others.
From the original description:
This patchset introduces an optional kernel lockdown feature,
intended to strengthen the boundary between UID 0 and the kernel.
When enabled, various pieces of kernel functionality are restricted.
Applications that rely on low-level access to either hardware or the
kernel may cease working as a result - therefore this should not be
enabled without appropriate evaluation beforehand.
The majority of mainstream distributions have been carrying variants
of this patchset for many years now, so there's value in providing a
doesn't meet every distribution requirement, but gets us much closer
to not requiring external patches.
There are two major changes since this was last proposed for mainline:
- Separating lockdown from EFI secure boot. Background discussion is
covered here: https://lwn.net/Articles/751061/
- Implementation as an LSM, with a default stackable lockdown LSM
module. This allows the lockdown feature to be policy-driven,
rather than encoding an implicit policy within the mechanism.
The new locked_down LSM hook is provided to allow LSMs to make a
policy decision around whether kernel functionality that would allow
tampering with or examining the runtime state of the kernel should be
permitted.
The included lockdown LSM provides an implementation with a simple
policy intended for general purpose use. This policy provides a coarse
level of granularity, controllable via the kernel command line:
lockdown={integrity|confidentiality}
Enable the kernel lockdown feature. If set to integrity, kernel features
that allow userland to modify the running kernel are disabled. If set to
confidentiality, kernel features that allow userland to extract
confidential information from the kernel are also disabled.
This may also be controlled via /sys/kernel/security/lockdown and
overriden by kernel configuration.
New or existing LSMs may implement finer-grained controls of the
lockdown features. Refer to the lockdown_reason documentation in
include/linux/security.h for details.
The lockdown feature has had signficant design feedback and review
across many subsystems. This code has been in linux-next for some
weeks, with a few fixes applied along the way.

tpm_send() does not give anymore the result back to the caller. This
would require another memcpy(), which kind of tells that the whole
approach is somewhat broken. Instead, as Mimi suggested, this commit
just wraps the data to the tpm_buf, and thus the result will not go to
the garbage.
Obviously this assumes from the caller that it passes large enough
buffer, which makes the whole API somewhat broken because it could be
different size than @buflen but since trusted keys is the only module
using this API right now I think that this fix is sufficient for the
moment.
In the near future the plan is to replace the parameters with a tpm_buf
created by the caller.

add_early_randomness() is called by hwrng_register() when the
hardware is added. If this hardware and its module are present
at boot, and if there is no data available the boot hangs until
data are available and can't be interrupted.
For instance, in the case of virtio-rng, in some cases the host can be
not able to provide enough entropy for all the guests.
We can have two easy ways to reproduce the problem but they rely on
misconfiguration of the hypervisor or the egd daemon:
- if virtio-rng device is configured to connect to the egd daemon of the
host but when the virtio-rng driver asks for data the daemon is not
connected,
- if virtio-rng device is configured to connect to the egd daemon of the

smi_mod_timer() enables the timer before setting timer_running. This
means the timer can be running when we get to stop_timer_and_thread()
without timer_running having been set, resulting in del_timer_sync()
not being called and the timer being left to cause havoc during
shutdown.
Instead just call del_timer_sync() unconditionally

Sebastian reports that after commit ff296293b3 ("random: Support freezable

We shouldn't call kthread_freezable_should_stop() from deep within the
wait_event code because the task state is still set as
TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE instead of TASK_RUNNING and
kthread_freezable_should_stop() will try to call into the freezer with
the task in the wrong state. Use wait_event_freezable() instead so that
it calls schedule() in the right place and tries to enter the freezer
when the task state is TASK_RUNNING instead.

The timeriomem_rng driver only accesses the first 4 bytes of the given
memory area and currently, it also forces that memory resource to be
exactly 4 bytes in size.
This, however, is problematic when used with device-trees that are
generated from things like FPGA toolchains, where the minimum size
of an exposed memory block may be something like 4k.
Hence, let's only check for what's needed for the driver to operate
properly; namely that we have enough memory available to read the
random data from.

syzbot found that a thread can stall for minutes inside read_mem() or
write_mem() after that thread was killed by SIGKILL [1]. Reading from
iomem areas of /dev/mem can be slow, depending on the hardware.
While reading 2GB at one read() is legal, delaying termination of killed
thread for minutes is bad. Thus, allow reading/writing /dev/mem and
/dev/kmem to be preemptible and killable.

[ 1336.041897][T20577] read_mem: sz=4096 count=2134549248
Theoretically, reading/writing /dev/mem and /dev/kmem can become
"interruptible". But this patch chose "killable". Future patch will make
them "interruptible" so that we can revert to "killable" if some program
regressed.

Introducing a chosen node, rng-seed, which is an entropy that can be
passed to kernel called very early to increase initial device
randomness. Bootloader should provide this entropy and the value is
read from /chosen/rng-seed in DT.
Obtain of_fdt_crc32 for CRC check after early_init_dt_scan_nodes(),
since early_init_dt_scan_chosen() would modify fdt to erase rng-seed.
Add a new interface add_bootloader_randomness() for rng-seed use case.
Depends on whether the seed is trustworthy, rng seed would be passed to
add_hwgenerator_randomness(). Otherwise it would be passed to
add_device_randomness(). Decision is controlled by kernel config

ipmi: Make the smi watcher be disabled immediately when not needed
The fix is to put all messages in the queue and move the message
checking code out of ipmi_smi_msg_received and into handle_one_recv_msg,
which processes the message checking after ipmi_thread releases its
locks.
Additionally,Kosuke Tatsukawa <tatsu@ab.jp.nec.com> reported that
handle_new_recv_msgs calls ipmi_free_msg when handle_one_rcv_msg returns
zero, so that the call to ipmi_free_msg in handle_one_rcv_msg introduced
another panic when "ipmitool sensor list" was run in a loop. He
submitted this part of the patch.

It is possible that SSIF interface entry is present in both DMI and ACPI
tables. In SMP systems, in such cases it is possible that ssif_probe could
be called simultaneously from i2c interface (from ACPI) and from DMI on
different CPUs at kernel boot. Both try to register same SSIF interface
simultaneously and result in race.
In such cases where ACPI and SMBIOS both IPMI entries are available, we
need to prefer ACPI over SMBIOS so that ACPI functions work properly if
they use IPMI.
So, if we get an ACPI interface and have already registered an SMBIOS
at the same address, we need to remove the SMBIOS one and add the ACPI.

This patch fixes this issue in following way:
- Adds ACPI entry also to the 'ssif_infos' list.
- Checks the list if SMBIOS is already registered, removes it and adds
ACPI.
- If ACPI is already registered, it ignores SMBIOS.
- Adds mutex lock throughout the probe process to avoid race.

The kthread calling this function is freezable after commit 03a3bb7ae6
("hwrng: core - Freeze khwrng thread during suspend") is applied.
Unfortunately, this function uses wait_event_interruptible() but doesn't
check for the kthread being woken up by the fake freezer signal. When a
user suspends the system, this kthread will wake up and if it fails the
entropy size check it will immediately go back to sleep and not go into
the freezer. Eventually, suspend will fail because the task never froze
and a warning message like this may appear:
PM: suspend entry (deep)
Filesystems sync: 0.000 seconds
Freezing user space processes ... (elapsed 0.001 seconds) done.
OOM killer disabled.
Freezing remaining freezable tasks ...
Freezing of tasks failed after 20.003 seconds (1 tasks refusing to freeze, wq_busy=0):
hwrng R running task 0 289 2 0x00000020

[<c015abec>] (kthread) from [<c01010e8>] (ret_from_fork+0x14/0x2c)
Check for a freezer signal here and skip adding any randomness if the
task wakes up because it was frozen. This should make the kthread freeze
properly and suspend work again.

Allowing users to read and write to core kernel memory makes it possible
for the kernel to be subverted, avoiding module loading restrictions, and
also to steal cryptographic information.
Disallow /dev/mem and /dev/kmem from being opened this when the kernel has
been locked down to prevent this.
Also disallow /dev/port from being opened to prevent raw ioport access and
thus DMA from being used to accomplish the same thing.

The only thing remaining of the machvecs is a few checks if we are
running on an SGI UV system. Replace those with the existing
is_uv_system() check that has been rewritten to simply check the
OEM ID directly.
That leaves us with a generic kernel that is as fast as the previous
DIG/ZX1/UV kernels, but can support all hardware. Support for UV
and the HP SBA IOMMU is now optional based on new config options.

The hwrng_fill() function can run while devices are suspending and
resuming. If the hwrng is behind a bus such as i2c or SPI and that bus
is suspended, the hwrng may hang the bus while attempting to add some
randomness. It's been observed on ChromeOS devices with suspend-to-idle
(s2idle) and an i2c based hwrng that this kthread may run and ask the
hwrng device for randomness before the i2c bus has been resumed.
Let's make this kthread freezable so that we don't try to touch the
hwrng during suspend/resume. This ensures that we can't cause the hwrng
backing driver to get into a bad state because the device is guaranteed
to be resumed before the hwrng kthread is thawed.

ipmi_thread() uses back-to-back schedule() to poll for command
completion which, on some machines, can push up CPU consumption and
heavily tax the scheduler locks leading to noticeable overall
performance degradation.
This was originally added so firmware updates through IPMI would
complete in a timely manner. But we can't kill the scheduler
locks for that one use case.
Instead, only run schedule() continuously in maintenance mode,
where firmware updates should run.

The nr_allocated_banks and allocated banks are initialized as part of
tpm_chip_register. Currently, this is done as part of auto startup
function. However, some drivers, like the ibm vtpm driver, do not run
auto startup during initialization. This results in uninitialized memory
issue and causes a kernel panic during boot.
This patch moves the pcr allocation outside the auto startup function
into tpm_chip_register. This ensures that allocated banks are initialized
in any case.

- scripts/get_abi.pl tool to display and parse Documentation/ABI
entries in a simple way
- cleanups to Documenatation/ABI/ entries to make them parse
easier due to typos and other minor things
- default_attrs use for some ktype users
- driver model documentation file conversions to .rst
- compressed firmware file loading
- deferred probe fixes

Pull tpm updates from Jarkko Sakkinen:
"This contains two critical bug fixes and support for obtaining TPM
events triggered by ExitBootServices().
For the latter I have to give a quite verbose explanation not least
because I had to revisit all the details myself to remember what was
going on in Matthew's patches.
The preboot software stack maintains an event log that gets entries
every time something gets hashed to any of the PCR registers. What
gets hashed could be a component to be run or perhaps log of some
actions taken just to give couple of coarse examples. In general,
anything relevant for the boot process that the preboot software does
gets hashed and a log entry with a specific event type [1].
The main application for this is remote attestation and the reason why
it is useful is nicely put in the very first section of [1]:
"Attestation is used to provide information about the platform’s
state to a challenger. However, PCR contents are difficult to
interpret; therefore, attestation is typically more useful when
the PCR contents are accompanied by a measurement log. While not
trusted on their own, the measurement log contains a richer set of
information than do the PCR contents. The PCR contents are used to
provide the validation of the measurement log."
Because EFI_TCG2_PROTOCOL.GetEventLog() is not available after calling
ExitBootServices(), Linux EFI stub copies the event log to a custom
configuration table. Unfortunately, ExitBootServices() also generates
events and obviously these events do not get copied to that table.
Luckily firmware does this for us by providing a configuration table
identified by EFI_TCG2_FINAL_EVENTS_TABLE_GUID.
This essentially contains necessary changes to provide the full event
log for the use the user space that is concatenated from these two
partial event logs [2]"
[1] https://trustedcomputinggroup.org/resource/pc-client-specific-platform-firmware-profile-specification/
[2] The final concatenation is done in drivers/char/tpm/eventlog/efi.c

offlined.
- Remove the shared annotation for the strict per CPU cfd_data in the

- Remove the return values of smp_call_function() and on_each_cpu()
as they are unconditionally 0. Fixup the few callers which actually
bothered to check the return value"

smp: Do not mark call_function_data as shared

After the first call to GetEventLog() on UEFI systems using the TCG2
crypto agile log format, any further log events (other than those
triggered by ExitBootServices()) will be logged in both the main log and
also in the Final Events Log. While the kernel only calls GetEventLog()
immediately before ExitBootServices(), we can't control whether earlier
parts of the boot process have done so. This will result in log entries
that exist in both logs, and so the current approach of simply appending
the Final Event Log to the main log will result in events being
duplicated.
We can avoid this problem by looking at the size of the Final Event Log
just before we call ExitBootServices() and exporting this to the main
kernel. The kernel can then skip over all events that occured before
ExitBootServices() and only append events that were not also logged to
the main log.

Any events that are logged after GetEventsLog() is called are logged to
the EFI Final Events table. These events are defined as being in the
crypto agile log format, so we can just append them directly to the
existing log if it's in the same format. In theory we can also construct
old-style SHA1 log entries for devices that only return logs in that
format, but EDK2 doesn't generate the final event log in that case so
it doesn't seem worth it at the moment.

UEFI systems provide a boot services protocol for obtaining the TPM
event log, but this is unusable after ExitBootServices() is called.
Unfortunately ExitBootServices() itself triggers additional TPM events
that then can't be obtained using this protocol. The platform provides a
mechanism for the OS to obtain these events by recording them to a
separate UEFI configuration table which the OS can then map.
Unfortunately this table isn't self describing in terms of providing its
length, so we need to parse the events inside it to figure out how long
it is. Since the table isn't mapped at this point, we need to extend the
length calculation function to be able to map the event as it goes
along.

A "get random" may fail with a TPM error, but those codes were returned
as-is to the caller, which assumed the result was the number of bytes
that had been written to the target buffer, which could lead to a kernel
heap memory exposure and over-read.
This fixes tpm1_get_random() to mask positive TPM errors into -EIO, as
before.

The driver_find_device() accepts a match function pointer to
filter the devices for lookup, similar to bus/class_find_device().
However, there is a minor difference in the prototype for the
match parameter for driver_find_device() with the now unified
version accepted by {bus/class}_find_device(), where it doesn't
accept a "const" qualifier for the data argument. This prevents
us from reusing the generic match functions for driver_find_device().
For this reason, change the prototype of the driver_find_device() to
make the "match" parameter in line with {bus/class}_find_device()
and adjust its callers to use the const qualifier. Also, we could
now promote the "data" parameter to const as we pass it down
as a const parameter to the match functions.

There is an arbitrary difference between the prototypes of
bus_find_device() and class_find_device() preventing their callers
from passing the same pair of data and match() arguments to both of
them, which is the const qualifier used in the prototype of
class_find_device(). If that qualifier is also used in the
bus_find_device() prototype, it will be possible to pass the same
match() callback function to both bus_find_device() and
class_find_device(), which will allow some optimizations to be made in
order to avoid code duplication going forward. Also with that, constify
the "data" parameter as it is passed as a const to the match function.
For this reason, change the prototype of bus_find_device() to match
the prototype of class_find_device() and adjust its callers to use the
const qualifier in accordance with the new prototype of it.

The i2c_client structure can be fairly large, which leads to
a warning about possible kernel stack overflow in some
configurations:
drivers/char/ipmi/ipmb_dev_int.c:115:16: error: stack frame size of 1032 bytes in function 'ipmb_write' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than=]
There is no real reason to even declare an i2c_client, as we can simply
call i2c_smbus_xfer() directly instead of the i2c_smbus_write_block_data()
wrapper.
Convert the ipmb_write() to use an open-coded i2c_smbus_write_block_data()
here, without changing the behavior.
It seems that there is another problem with this implementation;
when user space passes a length of more than I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX
bytes, all the rest is silently ignored. This should probably be
addressed in a separate patch, but I don't know what the intended
behavior is here.

Here is the "big" set of tty/serial driver patches for 5.2-rc1.
It's really pretty small, not much happening in this portion of the
kernel at the moment. When the "highlight" is the movement of the
documentation from .txt to .rst files, it's a good merge window.
There's a number of small fixes and updates over the various serial
drivers, and a new "tty null" driver for those embedded systems that
like to make things even smaller and not break things.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

kernel at the moment. When the "highlight" is the movement of the
documentation from .txt to .rst files, it's a good merge window.
There's a number of small fixes and updates over the various serial
drivers, and a new "tty null" driver for those embedded systems that
like to make things even smaller and not break things.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues"
