Sanket Goswami 17631e8ca2 i2c: designware: Add driver support for AMD NAVI GPU
The Latest AMD NAVI GPU card has an integrated Type-C controller and
Designware I2C with PCI Interface. The PD controller for USB Type-C can
be accessed over I2C. The client driver is part of the USB Type-C UCSI
driver.

Also, there exists a couple of notable IP limitations that are dealt as
workarounds:
- I2C transaction work on a polling mode as IP does not generate
interrupt.
- I2C read command sent twice to address the IP issues.
- AMD NAVI GPU based products are already in the commercial market,
  hence some of the I2C parameters are statically programmed as they
  can not be part of the ACPI table.

Dmitry Osipenko c126f7c3b8 i2c: Make i2c_recover_bus() to return -EBUSY if bus recovery unimplemented
The i2c_recover_bus() returns -EOPNOTSUPP if bus recovery isn't wired up
by the bus driver, which the case for Tegra I2C driver for example. This
error code is then propagated to I2C client and might be confusing, thus
make i2c_recover_bus() to return -EBUSY instead.

Krzysztof Kozlowski 823829dc18 i2c: altera: use ARCH_INTEL_SOCFPGA also for 32-bit ARM SoCs
ARCH_SOCFPGA is being renamed to ARCH_INTEL_SOCFPGA so adjust the
32-bit ARM drivers to rely on new symbol.

The side effect is that the I2C_ALTERA will now be available for both
32-bit and 64-bit Intel SoCFPGA, even though it is used only for 32-bit.

Wolfram Sang e409a6a3e0 i2c: turn recovery error on init to debug
In some configurations, recovery is optional. So, don't throw an error
when it is not used because e.g. pinctrl settings for recovery are not
provided. Reword the message and make it debug output.

Wolfram Sang 71581562ee i2c: bail out early when RDWR parameters are wrong
The buggy parameters currently get caught later, but emit a noisy WARN.
Userspace should not be able to trigger this, so add similar checks much
earlier. Also avoids some unneeded code paths, of course. Apply kernel
coding stlye to a comment while here.

Mårten Lindahl f4ff0104d4 i2c: exynos5: Preserve high speed master code
When the driver starts to send a message with the MASTER_ID field
set (high speed), the whole I2C_ADDR register is overwritten including
MASTER_ID as the SLV_ADDR_MAS field is set.

This patch preserves already written fields in I2C_ADDR when writing
SLV_ADDR_MAS.

Liguang Zhang f53f15ba5a i2c: designware: Get right data length
IC_DATA_CMD[11] indicates the first data byte received after the address
phase for receive transfer in Master receiver or Slave receiver mode,
this bit was set in some transfer flow. IC_DATA_CMD[7:0] contains the
data to be transmitted or received on the I2C bus, so we should use the
lower 8 bits to get the real data length.

 received confirmation about six ARM platforms and the TI C6x architecture
 that have all reached the end of their life upstream, with no known
 users remaining:

  - picoxcell -- added in 2011, abandoned after 2012 acquisition
  - prima2 -- added in 20111, no notable changes since 2015
  - tango -- added in 2015, sporadic changes until 2017, but abandoned

Samuel Holland aab0b4fe1b i2c: mv64xxx: Fix check for missing clock after adding RPM
In commit e5c02cf541 ("i2c: mv64xxx: Add runtime PM support"), error
pointers to optional clocks were replaced by NULL to simplify the resume
callback implementation. However, that commit missed that the IS_ERR

Convert driver from 'i2c' to 'platform'.
The motivation is to avoid I2C addressing conflict between
‘i2c-mux-cpld’ driver, providing mux selection and deselection through
CPLD ‘mux control’ register, and CPLD host driver. The CPLD is I2C
device and is multi-functional device performing logic for different
components, like LED, ‘hwmon’, interrupt control, watchdog etcetera.
For such configuration CPLD should be host I2C device, connected to the
relevant I2C bus with the relevant I2C address and all others component
drivers are supposed to be its children.
The hierarchy in such case will be like in the below example:

Kevin Paul Herbert 05ae60bc24 i2c: imx: Synthesize end of transaction events without idle interrupts
Only the Layerscape SoCs have interrupts on bus idle, which facilitate
sending events which complete slave bus transactions.

Add support for synthesizing missing events. If we see a master request,
or a newly addressed slave request, if the last event sent to the backend
was I2C_SLAVE_READ_REQUESTED, send the backend a I2C_SLAVE_READ_PROCESSED
followed by I2C_SLAVE_STOP. For all other events, send an I2C_SLAVE_STOP.

If the hardware is still accessing memory after SMMU translation
is disabled (as part of smmu shutdown callback), then the
IOVAs (I/O virtual address) which it was using will go on the bus
as the physical addresses which will result in unknown crashes
like NoC/interconnect errors.

So, implement shutdown callback to i2c driver to stop on-going transfer
and unmap DMA mappings during system "reboot" or "shutdown".

Samuel Holland e5c02cf541 i2c: mv64xxx: Add runtime PM support
To save power, gate the clock when the bus is inactive, during system
sleep, and during shutdown. On some platforms, specifically Allwinner
A13/A20, gating the clock implicitly resets the module as well. Since
the module already needs to be reset after some suspend/resume cycles,
it is simple enough to reset it during every runtime suspend/resume.

Because the bus may be used by wakeup source IRQ threads, it needs to
be functional as soon as IRQs are enabled. Thus, its system PM hooks
need to run in the noirq phase.

Qii Wang de96c3943f i2c: mediatek: Move suspend and resume handling to NOIRQ phase
Some i2c device driver indirectly uses I2C driver when it is now
being suspended. The i2c devices driver is suspended during the
NOIRQ phase and this cannot be changed due to other dependencies.
Therefore, we also need to move the suspend handling for the I2C
controller driver to the NOIRQ phase as well.

Arnd Bergmann edd4488aea ARM: remove tango platform
The smp8758 (tango4) SoC was the last generation of set-top-box chips
to come out of Sigma Designs, and support was added by Marc Gonzalez
and Måns Rullgård between 2015 and 2017, before the company went out of
business and the products were abandoned.

The chip is used in some set-top-boxes such as the Popcorn Hour A-500,
which could have seen some adoption by hobbyists. This has not happened
in the past four years, and support for the more widely used MIPS based
SoCs was never merged at all.

Thanks to Marc and Måns for maintaining for the past years even after the
death of the platform.

Evan Green 98b2b712bc i2c: i2c-mux-gpio: Enable this driver in ACPI land
Enable i2c-mux-gpio devices to be defined via ACPI. The idle-state
property translates directly to a fwnode_property_*() call. The child
reg property translates naturally into _ADR in ACPI.

The i2c-parent binding is a relic from the days when the bindings
dictated that all direct children of an I2C controller had to be I2C
devices. These days that's no longer required. The i2c-mux can sit as a
direct child of its parent controller, which is where it makes the most
sense from a hardware description perspective. For the ACPI
implementation we'll assume that's always how the i2c-mux-gpio is
instantiated.

VI I2C controller has known hardware bug where immediate multiple
writes to TX_FIFO register gets stuck.

Recommended software work around is to read I2C register after

Mikko Perttunen 27b7c6e096 i2c: tegra: Wait for config load atomically while in ISR
Upon a communication error, the interrupt handler can call
tegra_i2c_disable_packet_mode. This causes a sleeping poll to happen
unless the current transaction was marked atomic. Fix this by
making the poll happen atomically if we are in an IRQ.

This matches the behavior prior to the patch mentioned
in the Fixes tag.

Add support for I2C bus frequency setting according to the specific
system capability. This capability is obtained from CPLD frequency
setting register, which could be provided through the platform data.
If such register is provided, it specifies minimal I2C bus frequency
to be used for the devices attached to the I2C bus. Supported
freqeuncies are 100KHz, 400KHz, 1MHz, while 100KHz is the default.

Iproc has a slave rx fifo size of 64 bytes.
Rx fifo full interrupt (IS_S_RX_FIFO_FULL_SHIFT) will be generated
when RX fifo becomes full. This can happen if master issues write
request of more than 64 bytes.

V3U creates spurious interrupts which we need to handle. This costs time
until BUS_PHASE_DATA can be activated which is problematic for Gen2 SoCs
and earlier. Because of this we introduce two interrupt handlers here

Add two helper functions geni_i2c_rx_msg_cleanup and
geni_i2c_tx_msg_cleanup to unwrap the things after rx/tx FIFO/DMA
transfers, so that the same can be used in geni_i2c_stop_xfer()
function during shutdown callback.

usec. It greatly improves performance of I2C transactions.

Hans de Goede 785e21cfaa i2c: core: Do not print duplicate error when failing to register an i2c-client from ACPI
i2c_new_client_device() already prints an error when it fails. Some
ACPI tables contain 2 ACPI devices describing the same i2c-client,
leading to errors like this:

Chunyan Zhang 0b884fe71f i2c: sprd: use a specific timeout to avoid system hang up issue
If the i2c device SCL bus being pulled up due to some exception before
message transfer done, the system cannot receive the completing interrupt
signal any more, it would not exit waiting loop until MAX_SCHEDULE_TIMEOUT
jiffies eclipse, that would make the system seemed hang up. To avoid that
happen, this patch adds a specific timeout for message transfer.

Uwe Kleine-König 4e970a0ada i2c: remove check that can never be true
A driver remove callback is only called if the device was bound before.
So it's sure that both dev and dev->driver are valid and dev is an i2c
device. If the check fails something louder than "return 0" might be
appropriate because the problem is grave (something like memory
corruption), otherwise the check is useless.

Geert Uytterhoeven e8a61e5a7e i2c: sh_mobile: Mark adapter suspended during suspend
When a driver tries to send an I2C message while the adapter is
suspended, this typically fails with:

Avoid accessing the adapter while it is suspended by marking it
suspended during suspend.  This allows the I2C core to catch this, and

Stefan Lässer dc4e10b626 i2c: ocores: Avoid false-positive error log message.
Since commit 7723f4c5ec ("driver core: platform: Add an error message to
platform_get_irq*()"), platform_get_irq() will call dev_err() on an error.
In case of i2c ocores this leads to a false-positive error being logged:

i2c ocores already handles the case when the IRQ cannot be found and
therefore there is no benefit in having this error message being logged.

This commit switches to platform_get_irq_optional(), which does not log

This adds i2c bus recovery to the mv64xxx driver.

Implement bus recovery to recover from SCL/SDA stuck low.

This uses the generic recovery function, setting the clock/data lines as
GPIO pins, and sending 9 clocks to try and recover the bus.

Christian Eggers 61e6fe59ed i2c: imx: Don't generate STOP condition if arbitration has been lost
If arbitration is lost, the master automatically changes to slave mode.
I2SR_IBB may or may not be reset by hardware. Raising a STOP condition
by resetting I2CR_MSTA has no effect and will not clear I2SR_IBB.

So calling i2c_imx_bus_busy() is not required and would busy-wait until
timeout.

Christian Eggers 1de67a3dee i2c: imx: Check for I2SR_IAL after every byte
Arbitration Lost (IAL) can happen after every single byte transfer. If
arbitration is lost, the I2C hardware will autonomously switch from
master mode to slave. If a transfer is not aborted in this state,
consecutive transfers will not be executed by the hardware and will
timeout.

I2C_SLAVE_WRITE_RECEIVED

Documentation/i2c/slave-interface.rst says that I2C_SLAVE_WRITE_REQUESTED,
which is mandatory, should be sent while the data did not arrive yet. It
means in a write-request I2C_SLAVE_WRITE_REQUESTED should be reported
before any I2C_SLAVE_WRITE_RECEIVED.

By the way, I2C_SLAVE_STOP didn't be reported in the above case because
DW_IC_INTR_STAT was not 0x200.

dev->status can be used to record the current state, especially Designware
I2C controller has no interrupts to identify a write-request. This patch
makes not only I2C_SLAVE_WRITE_REQUESTED been reported first when
IC_INTR_RX_FULL is rising and dev->status isn't STATUS_WRITE_IN_PROGRESS
but also I2C_SLAVE_STOP been reported when a STOP condition is received.

Michael Wu 66b92313e2 i2c: designware: call i2c_dw_read_clear_intrbits_slave() once
If some bits were cleared by i2c_dw_read_clear_intrbits_slave() in
i2c_dw_isr_slave() and not handled immediately, those cleared bits would
not be shown again by later i2c_dw_read_clear_intrbits_slave(). They
therefore were forgotten to be handled.

i2c_dw_read_clear_intrbits_slave() should be called once in an ISR and take
its returned state for all later handlings.

Sagar Shrikant Kadam eda03fa027 i2c: ocores: fix polling mode workaround on FU540-C000 SoC
The FU540-C000 has a broken IRQ and support was added earlier
so that it will operate in polling mode, but seems to work only
in case interrupts property is missing from the i2c0 dt-node.
This should not be the case and the driver should handle polling
mode with the interrupt property present in i2c0 node of the
device tree.
So check if it's the FU540-C000 soc and enable polling mode master
xfers, as the IRQ for this chip is broken.

Cristian Ciocaltea b8be24ec67 i2c: owl: Add support for atomic transfers
Atomic transfers are required to properly power off a machine through
an I2C controlled PMIC, such as the Actions Semi ATC260x series.

System shutdown may happen with interrupts being disabled and, as a
consequence, the kernel may hang if the driver does not support atomic
transfers.

This functionality is essentially implemented by polling the FIFO
Status register until either Command Execute Completed or NACK Error
bits are set.

Douglas Anderson 9cb4c67d77 Revert "i2c: i2c-qcom-geni: Fix DMA transfer race"
This reverts commit 02b9aec592.

As talked about in the patch ("soc: qcom: geni: More properly switch
to DMA mode"), swapping the order of geni_se_setup_m_cmd() and
geni_se_xx_dma_prep() can sometimes cause corrupted transfers.  Thus
we traded one problem for another.  Now that we've debugged the
problem further and fixed the geni helper functions to more disable
FIFO interrupts when we move to DMA mode we can revert it and end up
with (hopefully) zero problems!

To be explicit, the patch ("soc: qcom: geni: More properly switch
to DMA mode") is a prerequisite for this one.

Hans de Goede 8058d69905 i2c: core: Restore acpi_walk_dep_device_list() getting called after registering the ACPI i2c devs
Commit 21653a4181 ("i2c: core: Call i2c_acpi_install_space_handler()
before i2c_acpi_register_devices()")'s intention was to only move the
acpi_install_address_space_handler() call to the point before where
the ACPI declared i2c-children of the adapter where instantiated by
i2c_acpi_register_devices().

But i2c_acpi_install_space_handler() had a call to
acpi_walk_dep_device_list() hidden (that is I missed it) at the end
of it, so as an unwanted side-effect now acpi_walk_dep_device_list()
was also being called before i2c_acpi_register_devices().

Move the acpi_walk_dep_device_list() call to the end of
i2c_acpi_register_devices(), so that it is once again called *after*
the i2c_client-s hanging of the adapter have been created.

This fixes the Microsoft Surface Go 2 hanging at boot.

Cristian Ciocaltea f5b3f43364 i2c: owl: Clear NACK and BUS error bits
When the NACK and BUS error bits are set by the hardware, the driver is
responsible for clearing them by writing "1" into the corresponding
status registers.

Hence perform the necessary operations in owl_i2c_interrupt().

Nicolas Belin 1334d3b4e4 i2c: meson: fixup rate calculation with filter delay
Apparently, 15 cycles of the peripheral clock are used by the controller
for sampling and filtering. Because this was not known before, the rate
calculation is slightly off.

Clean up and fix the calculation taking this filtering delay into account.

Jerome Brunet 79e137b154 i2c: meson: keep peripheral clock enabled
SCL rate appears to be different than what is expected. For example,
We get 164kHz on i2c3 of the vim3 when 400kHz is expected. This is
partially due to the peripheral clock being disabled when the clock is
set.

Let's keep the peripheral clock on after probe to fix the problem. This
does not affect the SCL output which is still gated when i2c is idle.

Jerome Brunet 28683e847e i2c: meson: fix clock setting overwrite
When the slave address is written in do_start(), SLAVE_ADDR is written
completely. This may overwrite some setting related to the clock rate
or signal filtering.

Fix this by writing only the bits related to slave address. To avoid
causing unexpected changed, explicitly disable filtering or high/low
clock mode which may have been left over by the bootloader.

Rename "ret" variables to "err" in order to make code a bit more
expressive, emphasizing that the returned value is an error code.
Same vice versa, where appropriate.

Rename variable "reg" to "val" in order to better reflect the actual
usage of the variable in the code and to make naming consistent with
the rest of the code.

Use briefer names for a few members of the tegra_i2c_dev structure in
order to improve readability of the code.

All dev/&pdev->dev are replaced with i2c_dev->dev in order to have uniform
code style across the driver.

Dmitry Osipenko 8d57c2f365 i2c: tegra: Remove "dma" variable from tegra_i2c_xfer_msg()
The "dma" variable of tegra_i2c_xfer_msg() function doesn't bring much in
regards to readability and generation of the code.

Besides readability, it's also not very nice that the is_curr_dma_xfer
is initialized in tegra_i2c_xfer_msg() and then could be overridden by
tegra_i2c_config_fifo_trig(). In a result, the "dma" variable creates
slight confusion since it's not instantly obvious why it's set after
tegra_i2c_config_fifo_trig().

Hence should be better to have the variable removed. This makes code
more consistent.

Dmitry Osipenko 586a97d907 i2c: tegra: Use clk-bulk helpers
Use clk-bulk helpers and factor out clocks initialization into separate
function in order to make code cleaner.

The clocks initialization now performed after reset-control initialization
in order to avoid a noisy -PROBE_DEFER errors on T186+ from the clk-bulk
helper which doesn't silence this error code. Hence reset_control_get()
now may return -EPROBE_DEFER on newer Tegra SoCs because they use BPMP
driver that provides reset controls and BPMP doesn't come up early during
boot. Previously rst was protected by the clocks retrieval and now this
patch makes dev_err_probe() to be used for the rst error handling.

Dmitry Osipenko 8593490967 i2c: tegra: Use reset_control_reset()
Use a single reset_control_reset() instead of assert/deasset couple in
order to make code cleaner a tad. Note that the reset_control_reset()
uses 1 microsecond delay instead of 2 that was used previously, but this
shouldn't matter because one microsecond is a default reset time for most
of Tegra peripherals and TRM doesn't mention anything special in regards
to I2C controller's reset propagation time.

In addition don't ignore potential error of the reset control by emitting
a noisy warning if it fails, which will indicate an existence of a severe
problem, while still allow machine to boot up.

Dmitry Osipenko 900aed24d3 i2c: tegra: Make tegra_i2c_flush_fifos() usable in atomic transfer
The tegra_i2c_flush_fifos() shouldn't sleep in atomic transfer and jiffies
are not updating if interrupts are disabled. Let's switch to use iopoll
API helpers for register-polling. The iopoll API provides helpers for both
atomic and non-atomic cases.

Note that this patch doesn't fix any known problem because normally FIFO
is flushed at the time of starting a new transfer.

Tali Perry 8947efc077 i2c: npcm7xx: Clear LAST bit after a failed transaction.
Due to a HW issue, in some scenarios the LAST bit might remain set.
This will cause an unexpected NACK after reading 16 bytes on the next
read.

Example: if user tries to read from a missing device, get a NACK,
then if the next command is a long read ( > 16 bytes),
the master will stop reading after 16 bytes.
To solve this, if a command fails, check if LAST bit is still
set. If it does, reset the module.

Additionally, the i2c_imx_isr() could wake up the wait queue
(imx_i2c_struct->queue) before its initialization happens.

The resource-managed framework should not be used for interrupt handling,

Khalil Blaiech b5b5b32081 i2c: mlxbf: I2C SMBus driver for Mellanox BlueField SoC
Add BlueField I2C driver to offer master and slave support for
Mellanox BlueField SoCs. The driver implements an SMBus adapter
and interfaces to multiple busses that can be probed using both
ACPI and Device Tree infrastructures.

The driver supports several SMBus operations to transfer data
back and forth from/to various I2C devices. It is mainly intended
to be consumed by userspace tools and utilities, such as i2c-tools
and decode-dimms to collect memory module information.

On the other hand, the driver has a slave function to support,
among others, an IPMB interface that requires both master and
slave functions to handle transfers between the BlueField SoC
and a board management controllers (e.g., BMC).

Nicolas VINCENT a2bd970aa6 i2c: cpm: Fix i2c_ram structure
the i2c_ram structure is missing the sdmatmp field mentionned in
datasheet for MPC8272 at paragraph 36.5. With this field missing, the
hardware would write past the allocated memory done through
cpm_muram_alloc for the i2c_ram structure and land in memory allocated
for the buffers descriptors corrupting the cbd_bufaddr field. Since this
field is only set during setup(), the first i2c transaction would work
and the following would send data read from an arbitrary memory
location.
