Mitch Williams 43ae93a93e i40e/i40evf: check for stopped admin queue
It's possible that while we are waiting for the spinlock, another
entity (that owns the spinlock) has shut down the admin queue.
If we then attempt to use the queue, we will panic.

Add a check for this condition on the receive side. This matches
an existing check on the send queue side.

Jesse Brandeburg c4bbac3913 i40e: fix VLAN inside VXLAN
Previously to this patch, the hardware was removing
VLAN tags from the inner header of VXLAN packets.  The
hardware configuration can be changed to leave the
packet alone since that is what the linux stack
expects for this type of VLAN in VXLAN packet.

In igb_sw_init() the sequence of calls was changed from
igb_init_queue_configuration()
igb_init_interrupt_scheme()
igb_probe_vfs()
to
igb_probe_vfs()
igb_init_queue_configuration()
igb_init_interrupt_scheme()

This results in adapter->flags not having the IGB_FLAG_HAS_MSIX bit set
during igb_probe_vfs()->igb_enable_sriov(). Therefore SR-IOV does not
get enabled properly and we run into a NULL pointer if the max_vfs
module parameter is specified (adapter->vf_data does not get allocated,
crash on accessing the structure).

Prevent this by setting the IGB_FLAG_HAS_MSIX bit before calling
igb_probe_vfs(). The real interrupt capabilities will be checked during
igb_init_interrupt_scheme() so this is safe to do.

Anjali Singhai 30e2561b95 i40e: Fix for recursive RTNL lock during PROMISC change
The sync_vsi_filters function can be called directly under RTNL
or through the timer subtask without one. This was causing a deadlock.

If sync_vsi_filters is called from a thread which held the lock,
and in another thread the PROMISC setting got changed we would
be executing the PROMISC change in the thread which already held
the lock alongside the other filter update. The PROMISC change
requires a reset if we are on a VEB, which requires it to be called
under RTNL.

Earlier the driver would call reset for PROMISC change without
checking if we were already under RTNL and would try to grab it
causing a deadlock. This patch changes the flow to see if we are
already under RTNL before trying to grab it.

Anjali Singhai 5804474311 i40e: Fix RS bit update in Tx path and disable force WB workaround
This patch fixes the issue of forcing WB too often causing us to not
benefit from NAPI.

Without this patch we were forcing WB/arming interrupt too often taking
away the benefits of NAPI and causing a performance impact.

With this patch we disable force WB in the clean routine for X710
and XL710 adapters. X722 adapters do not enable interrupt to force
a WB and benefit from WB_ON_ITR and hence force WB is left enabled
for those adapters.
For XL710 and X710 adapters if we have less than 4 packets pending
a software Interrupt triggered from service task will force a WB.

This patch also changes the conditions for setting RS bit as described
in code comments. This optimizes when the HW does a tail bump and when
it does a WB. It also optimizes when we do a wmb.

Kiran Patil b03a8c1f4c i40e/i40evf: refactor tx timeout logic
This patch modifies the driver timeout logic by issuing a writeback
request via a software interrupt to the hardware the first time the
driver detects a hang. The driver was too aggressive in resetting a hung
queue, so back that off by removing logic to down the netdevice after
too many hangs, and move the function to the service task.

Mark Rustad bc1fc64fd2 ixgbe: Fix FCRTH value in VM-to-VM loopback mode
The 82599 and X540 datasheets require that FCRTH be "set" for Tx
switching (VM-to-VM loopback) but it did not previously specify what
the value should be set to. It has now been determined that
the correct value is RXPBSIZE - (24*1024).

This setting is also required for later devices.

Mark Rustad 9de7605ea2 ixgbe: Correct several flaws with with DCA setup
This change does two things. First, it makes it so that we always
set the relaxed ordering bits related to the DCA registers even if
DCA is not enabled. Second, it moves the configuration out of the
ixgbe_down function and into the ixgbe_configure function before
enabling the Rx and Tx rings. This ensures that DCA is configured
correctly before starting to process packets.

Mark Rustad 7fc1510354 ixgbe: Update ixgbe_disable_pcie_master flow for X550*
This patch skips the PCI transactions pending check in
ixgbe_disable_pcie_master. This is done to addresses a known HW
issue where the PCI transactions pending bit sticks high when there
are pending transactions. HW engineering instructed to workaround
this issue by wait and then continue with our reset flow.

Take control of an I2C mux that selects which SFP is attached to
the I2C bus. The control of the mux is captured in the taking and
releasing of the related semaphore. Because only port 1 can control
the mux, port 1 always leaves the mux set to select port 0.

Mark Rustad 58e7cd24d4 ixgbe: Limit SFP polling rate
Reduce the frequency of polling for SFP modules. Because the
service task sometimes runs at high rates, we can poll for
SFPs too often. When an SFP is not present, the I2C timeouts
that result are very costly. So, prevent SFP polling from
being done more than once every two seconds. To reduce latency,
the poll time is cleared in a couple of cases to permit the
next service task execution to poll the SFP module.

Mark Rustad e23f333678 ixgbe: Fix 1G and 10G link stability for X550EM_x SFP+
Configures the CS4227 correctly for both 1G and 10G operation,
by moving the code to ixgbe_setup_mac_link_sfp_x550em(). It
needs to be in this function because we need both the module
type and the speed, and this is the only function in the init
flow that knows the speed. In contrast,
ixgbe_setup_sfp_modules_X550em() does not know the speed, so we
can't do anything useful here. This is a fundamental difference
from the previous flow, and is due to the way the CS4227 is
implemented.

Francois Romieu 307723255a e1000: remove dead e1000_init_eeprom_params calls
The device probe method e1000_probe calls e1000_init_eeprom_params
itself so there's no reason to call it again from e1000_do_write_eeprom
or e1000_do_read_eeprom.

The sentence above assumes that e1000_init_eeprom_params is effective.
e1000_init_eeprom_params depends mostly on hw->mac_type and e1000_probe
bails out early if it can't set mac_type (see e1000_init_hw_struct, then
e1000_set_mac_type), qed.

Btw, if effective, the removed paths would had been deadlock prone when
e1000_eeprom_spi was set:
-> e1000_write_eeprom (takes e1000_eeprom_lock)
   -> e1000_do_write_eeprom
      -> e1000_init_eeprom_params
         -> e1000_read_eeprom (takes e1000_eeprom_lock)

(same narrative with e1000_read_eeprom -> e1000_do_read_eeprom etc.)

As a final note, the candidate deadlock above can't happen in e1000_probe
due to the way eeprom->word_size is set / tested.

Jacob Keller 80043f3bf5 fm10k: add support for extra debug statistics
Add a private ethtool flag to enable display of these statistics, which
are generally less useful. However, sometimes it can be useful for
debugging purposes. The most useful portion is the ability to see what
the PF thinks the VF mailboxes look like.

Jacob Keller afadfd224f fm10k: create "correct" header for the remote end on connect
When we connect to the mailbox, we insert a fake disconnect header so
that the code does not see an invalid header and thus instantly error
every time we bring up the mailbox. However, we incorrectly record the
tail and head from the local perspective. Since the remote end shouldn't
have anything for us, add a "create_fake_disconnect_hdr" function which
inverts the TAIL and HEAD fields. This enables us to connect without any
errors of either TAIL or HEAD incorrectness, and prevents creating
extraneous error messages. This is necessary now since mbx_reset_work
does not actually reset the Tx FIFO head and tail pointers, thus head
and tail might not be equivalent on a reconnect.

Jacob Keller 4b09728e9d fm10k: drop transmitted messages in Tx FIFO as part of reset_work
This patch fixes a corner case issue with the PF/VF mailbox code.
Currently, fm10k_mbx_reset_work clears various state about the mailbox.
However, it does not clear the Tx FIFO head/tail pointers. We can't
simply clear these pointers as we unintentionally drop untransmitted
messages without error.

Doing nothing results in a possible phantom re-transmission of messages,
since we leave tx.head and tx.tail intact, but clear the tx_pulled and
tail_len values. This means that the PF could continuously re-send a
message which triggers a reset in the VF. Upon reset, the VF will
re-receive the same message after a reconnect.

If we reset the tx.head and tx.tail pointers completely, we end up
dropping some messages that were pending before connect. This results in
missing LPORT_MSG_READY bits, and VFs will end up reporting no link.

However, we can resolve both issues by simply incrementing head to
account for the already transmitted messages, before we reset tx_pulled.
We do this via the same logic as fm10k_mbx_head_pull.

We account for the tail_len which includes all data not yet transmitted,
once we account for the acked data which means re-reading the HEAD
variable from the message header. Then, we drop messages until we've
dropped more than the new tx_pulled value. At this point, resetting
tail_len and tx_pulled, but not tx.head and tx.tail will result in
prevention of the phantom message. It also prevents us from dropping
untransmitted messages upon attempting to Tx into a connect or
disconnect header.

Jacob Keller 9adbac599a fm10k: fix iov_msg_mac_vlan_pf VID checks
The VF will send a message to request multicast addresses with the
default VID. In the current code, if the PF has statically assigned a
VLAN to a VF, then the VF will not get the multicast addresses. Fix up
all of the various VLAN messages to use identical checks (since each
check was different). Also use set as a variable, so that it simplifies
our check for whether VLAN matches the pf_vid.

The new logic will allow set of a VLAN if it is zero, automatically
converting to the default VID. Otherwise it will allow setting the PF
VID, or any VLAN if PF has not statically assigned a VLAN. This is
consistent behavior, and allows VF to request either 0 or the
default_vid without silently failing.

Note that we need the check for zero since VFs might not get the default
VID message in time to actually request non-zero VLANs.

fabric is ready to handle traffic.  The general idea is to avoid

Jacob Keller 95f4f8da64 fm10k: re-enable VF after a full reset on detection of a Malicious event
Modify behavior of Malicious Driver Detection events. Presently, the
hardware disables the VF queues and re-assigns them to the PF. This
causes the VF in question to continuously Tx hang, because it assumes
that it can transmit over the queues in question. For transient events,
this results in continuous logging of malicious events.

New behavior is to reset the LPORT and VF state, so that the VF will
have to reset and re-enable itself. This does mean that malicious VFs
will possibly be able to continue and attempt malicious events again.
However, it is expected that system administrators will step in and
manually remove or disable the VF in question.

Jacob Keller e71c931842 fm10k: send traffic on default VID to VLAN device if we have one
This patch ensures that VLAN traffic on the default VID will go to the
corresponding VLAN device if it exists. To do this, mask the rx_ring VID
if we have an active VLAN on that VID.

For this to work correctly, we need to update fm10k_process_skb_fields
to correctly mask off the VLAN_PRIO_MASK bits and compare them
separately, otherwise we incorrectly compare the priority bits with the
cleared flag. This also happens to fix a related bug where having
priority bits set causes us to incorrectly classify traffic.

If we store the sw_vid at reset of PF, then we accidentally prevent the
VF from receiving the message to update its default VID. This only
occurs if the VF is created before the PF has come up, which is the
standard way of creating VFs when using the module parameter.

This fixes an issue where we request the incorrect MAC/VLAN
combinations, and prevents us from accidentally reporting some frames as
VLAN tagged.

Jacob Keller 106c07a495 fm10k: update fm10k_slot_warn to use pcie_get_minimum link
This is useful in cases where we connect to a slot at Gen3, but the slot
is behind a bus which only connected at Gen2. This generally only
happens when a PCIe switch is in the sequence of devices, and can be
very confusing when you see slow performance with no obvious cause.

I am aware this patch has a few lines that break 80 characters, but
there does not seem to be a readable way to format them to less than 80
characters. Suggestions welcome.

This allows us to correctly add a VLAN even if it matches our default
VID. However, we don't want to remove the VID rules once that VLAN is
deleted. Correctly remove the stack layers information of the VLAN, but
then return to forwarding that VID as untagged frames. If we deleted the
VID rules here, we would begin dropping traffic due to VLAN membership
violations.

The service task reads some registers as part of its normal routine,
even while the interface is down. Normally this is ok. However, during
suspend we have disabled the PCI device. Due to this, registers will
read in the same way as a surprise-remove event. Disable the service
task while we suspend, and re-enable it after we resume. If we don't do
this, the device could be UP when you suspend and come back from resume
as closed (since fm10k closes the device when it gets a surprise
remove).

Alexander Duyck 8ac34f10a5 ixgbe: Limit lowest interrupt rate for adaptive interrupt moderation to 12K
This patch updates the lowest limit for adaptive interrupt interrupt
moderation to roughly 12K interrupts per second.

The way I came about reaching 12K as the desired interrupt rate is by
testing with UDP flows.  Specifically I had a simple test that ran a
netperf UDP_STREAM test at varying sizes.  What I found was as the packet
sizes increased the performance fell steadily behind until we were only
able to receive at ~4Gb/s with a message size of 65507.  A bit of digging
found that we were dropping packets for the socket in the network stack,
and looking at things further what I found was I could solve it by increasing
the interrupt rate, or increasing the rmem_default/rmem_max.  What I found was
that when the interrupt coalescing resulted in more data being processed
per interrupt than could be stored in the socket buffer we started losing
packets and the performance dropped.  So I reached 12K based on the
following math.

rmem_default = 212992
skb->truesize = 2994
212992 / 2994 = 71.14 packets to fill the buffer

packet rate at 1514 packet size is 812744pps
71.14 / 812744 = 87.9us to fill socket buffer

From there it was just a matter of choosing the interrupt rate and
providing a bit of wiggle room which is why I decided to go with 12K
interrupts per second as that uses a value of 84us.

The data below is based on VM to VM over a direct assigned ixgbe interface.
The test run was:

Alex Williamson 6b010e9b1f ixgbe: Teardown SR-IOV before unregister_netdev()
When the .remove() callback for a PF is called, SR-IOV support for the
device is disabled, which requires unbinding and removing the VFs.
The VFs may be in-use either by the host kernel or userspace, such as
assigned to a VM through vfio-pci.  In this latter case, the VFs may
be removed either by shutting down the VM or hot-unplugging the
devices from the VM.  Unfortunately in the case of a Windows 2012 R2
guest, hot-unplug is broken due to the ordering of the PF driver
teardown.  Disabling SR-IOV prior to unregister_netdev() avoids this
issue.

Alex Williamson 7837e2867f ixgbe: Remove bimodal SR-IOV disabling
When unbinding an SR-IOV device with VFs configured from ixgbe, the
driver behaves in one of two ways.  If max_vfs was specified, the
SR-IOV state is disabled, removing the VFs.  The occurs regardless of
whether the VF count was later modified through sysfs.  If however
max_vfs is zero, such as by not specifying the module parameter, the
VFs persist after the PF is unbound from ixgbe.  If the PF is then
bound to vfio-pci to be assigned to a VM, the PF is non-functional.

>From the comment, commit da36b64736 ("ixgbe: Implement PCI SR-IOV
sysfs callback operation") clearly intended this alternate behavior,
but probably didn't realize the PF doesn't work in this mode.

This bimodal behavior is confusing to users and results in a state
where the PF is broken for other uses unless the user sets
sriov_numvfs to zero prior to unbinding the device.  Remove this
behavior so that VFs are removed and the PF is functional for other
uses after unbind, regardless of the way VFs are enabled.

Don Skidmore d5702dea43 ixgbe: Remove second instance of lan_id variable
This patch removes the redundant lan_id in the phy struct and uses
the bus version.  Both variables exist and intend to represent the
STATUS register LAN_ID field.  However, phy.lan_id is not bit shifted
so the phy.lan_id = 0x0 for LAN Id 0 and phy.lan_id = 0x4 for LAN Id 1.
Where bus.lan_id is bit shifted so bus.lan_id = 0x0 for LAN Id 0 and
bus.lan_id = 0x1 for LAN Id 1. There seems no need for the additional
lan_id variable and this should make the code less confusing.

When the device is closing or suspending, call ixgbe_enter_lplu to
enter low power link up state on devices that support it. When this
is done, prevent the phy from being reset in the ixgbe_down path

By using GSO for UDP-encapsulated packets, all ixgbe devices can
be directed to generate checksums for the inner headers because
the outer UDP checksum can be zero. So point the machinery at the
inner headers and have the hardware generate the checksum.

Anjali Singhai Jain 92faef8561 i40e: Set defport behavior for the Main VSI when in promiscuous mode
This fixes bugs where the port is not receiving multicast or VLAN tagged
packets when in promiscuous mode. This can occur when a SW bridge is
created on top of the device.

This also fixes issues where the promiscuous behavior setting was not
being preserved across a reset caused by features being enabled or
disabled.

We are using defport instead of doing a true promiscuous mode because we do
not need to receive the SRIOV or VMDq VSI directed traffic which would suck
up bandwidth and is really not intended for the SW bridge.

In addition, with defport we get VLAN promiscuous behavior which is not
possible from the VSI level promiscuous setting.

Greg Rose 2b20c88397 i40e: Remove redundant and unneeded messages
The kernel notifies all VXLAN capable registered drivers, i.e. any
driver that implements ndo_add_vxlan_port(), of the addition of a
port so that the driver can track which ports are in use.  There's
no need to log this - it just fills the system log with useless and
irksome noise.

Also, when failing to init SR-IOV interfaces the driver was printing the
same message twice. Just remove the inner printk and let the outer message
catch enable as well as the other failures.

Anjali Singhai Jain 26cdc443fd i40e: Fix legacy interrupt mode in the driver
This patch fixes the driver flow to take into account legacy interrupts.
Over time we added code that assumes MSIX is the only mode that the
driver runs in. It also enables a legacy workaround to trigger SWINT
when the TX ring has non-cache aligned descriptors pending and interrupts
are disabled.

We work with a single vector in MSI mode too, so apply the same
restrictions as Legacy.

Michal Hocko 2f064f3485 mm: make page pfmemalloc check more robust
Commit c48a11c7ad ("netvm: propagate page->pfmemalloc to skb") added
checks for page->pfmemalloc to __skb_fill_page_desc():

        if (page->pfmemalloc && !page->mapping)
                skb->pfmemalloc = true;

It assumes page->mapping == NULL implies that page->pfmemalloc can be
trusted.  However, __delete_from_page_cache() can set set page->mapping
to NULL and leave page->index value alone.  Due to being in union, a
non-zero page->index will be interpreted as true page->pfmemalloc.

So the assumption is invalid if the networking code can see such a page.
And it seems it can.  We have encountered this with a NFS over loopback
setup when such a page is attached to a new skbuf.  There is no copying
going on in this case so the page confuses __skb_fill_page_desc which
interprets the index as pfmemalloc flag and the network stack drops
packets that have been allocated using the reserves unless they are to
be queued on sockets handling the swapping which is the case here and
that leads to hangs when the nfs client waits for a response from the
server which has been dropped and thus never arrive.

The struct page is already heavily packed so rather than finding another
hole to put it in, let's do a trick instead.  We can reuse the index
again but define it to an impossible value (-1UL).  This is the page
index so it should never see the value that large.  Replace all direct
users of page->pfmemalloc by page_is_pfmemalloc which will hide this
nastiness from unspoiled eyes.

The information will get lost if somebody wants to use page->index
obviously but that was the case before and the original code expected
that the information should be persisted somewhere else if that is
really needed (e.g.  what SLAB and SLUB do).

When e1000e_setup_rx_resources is failed in e1000_open,
e1000e_free_tx_resources in "err_setup_rx" segment is executed.
"writel(0, tx_ring->head)" statement in e1000_clean_tx_ring
in e1000e_free_tx_resources will cause a null poonter dereference(crash),
because "tx_ring->head" is only assigned in e1000_configure_tx
in e1000_configure, but it is after e1000e_setup_rx_resources.

This patch moves head/tail register writing to e1000_configure_tx/rx,
which can fix this problem. It is inspired by igb_configure_tx_ring
in the igb driver.

Alex Williamson c23d92b80e igb: Teardown SR-IOV before unregister_netdev()
When the .remove() callback for a PF is called, SR-IOV support for the
device is disabled, which requires unbinding and removing the VFs.
The VFs may be in-use either by the host kernel or userspace, such as
assigned to a VM through vfio-pci.  In this latter case, the VFs may
be removed either by shutting down the VM or hot-unplugging the
devices from the VM.  Unfortunately in the case of a Windows 2012 R2
guest, hot-unplug is broken due to the ordering of the PF driver
teardown.  Disabling SR-IOV prior to unregister_netdev() avoids this
issue.

Richard Cochran 30c72916d7 igb: implement high frequency periodic output signals
In addition to interrupt driven target time output events, the i210
also has two programmable clock outputs.  These clocks support periods
between 16 nanoseconds and 140 milliseconds.  This patch implements
the periodic output function using the clock outputs when possible,
falling back to the target time for longer periods.

Stefan Assmann 6423fc3416 igb: do not re-init SR-IOV during probe
During driver probing the following code path is triggered.
igb_probe
->igb_sw_init
  ->igb_probe_vfs
    ->igb_pci_enable_sriov
      ->igb_sriov_reinit

Doing the SR-IOV re-init is not necessary during probing since we're
starting from scratch. Here we can call igb_enable_sriov() right away.

Running igb_sriov_reinit() during igb_probe() also seems to cause
occasional packet loss on some onboard 82576 NICs. Reproduced on
Dell and HP servers with onboard 82576 NICs.

Shota Suzuki 72ddef0506 igb: Fix oops caused by missing queue pairing
When initializing igb driver (e.g. 82576, I350), IGB_FLAG_QUEUE_PAIRS is
set if adapter->rss_queues exceeds half of max_rss_queues in
igb_init_queue_configuration().
On the other hand, IGB_FLAG_QUEUE_PAIRS is not set even if the number of
queues exceeds half of max_combined in igb_set_channels() when changing
the number of queues by "ethtool -L".
In this case, if numvecs is larger than MAX_MSIX_ENTRIES (10), the size
of adapter->msix_entries[], an overflow can occur in
igb_set_interrupt_capability(), which in turn leads to an oops.

Fix this problem as follows:
 - When changing the number of queues by "ethtool -L", set
   IGB_FLAG_QUEUE_PAIRS in the same way as initializing igb driver.
 - When increasing the size of q_vector, reallocate it appropriately.
   (With IGB_FLAG_QUEUE_PAIRS set, the size of q_vector gets larger.)

Another possible way to fix this problem is to cap the queues at its
initial number, which is the number of the initial online cpus. But this
is not the optimal way because we cannot increase queues when another
cpu becomes online.

Note that before commit cd14ef54d2 ("igb: Change to use statically
allocated array for MSIx entries"), this problem did not cause oops
but just made the number of queues become 1 because of entering msi_only
mode in igb_set_interrupt_capability().

X722 fixes an issue from X710 where TX descriptor WB would not happen if
the interrupts were disabled. In order for the write backs to happen a
bit needs to be set in the dynamic interrupt control register called
WB_ON_ITR. With this feature, the SW driver need not arm SW interrupts to
work around the issue in X710.

Mitch Williams 606a5488a1 i40e: provide correct API version to older VF drivers
This driver fully supports VF drivers using both the 1.0 and 1.1
versions of the virtual channel API. However, VF drivers using
version 1.0 get upset if we provide them with a version other than
that, and refuse to play with us.

Correct this by checking the VFs API version at the time that we
store it off, and provide the correct version number back to the VF
so we can all get along.

Mitch Williams e6d038de13 i40evf: handle big resets
The most common type of reset that the VF will encounter is a PF reset
that cascades down into a VF reset for each VF. In this case, the VF
will always be assigned the same VSI and recovery is fairly simple.

However, in the case of 'bigger' resets, such as a Core or EMP reset,
when the device is reinitialized, it's probable that the VF will NOT get
the same VSI. When this happens, the VF will not be able to recover, as
it will continue to request resources for its original VSI.

Add an extra state to the admin queue state machine so that the driver
can re-request its configuration information at runtime. During reset
recovery, set this bit in the aq_required field, and fetch the (possibly
new) configuration information before attempting to bring the driver
back up. Since the driver doesn't know what kind of reset it has
encountered, this step is done even for a PF reset, but it doesn't hurt
anything - it just gets the same VSI back.

Mitch Williams 1b53c2fb43 i40e: add VF capabilities to virtual channel interface
To prepare for the changes coming up in the X722 device and future
devices, the virtual channel interface has to change slightly. The VF
driver can now report what its capable of supporting, which then informs
the PF driver when it sends the configuration information back to the
VF.

A 1.1 VF driver on a 1.0 PF driver should not send its capabilities.
Likewise, a 1.1 PF driver controlling a 1.0 VF driver should not expect
or depend upon receiving the VF capabilities.

All other aspects of the API are unchanged.

Carolyn Wyborny de32e3efd5 i40e/i40evf: Fix and refactor dynamic ITR code
This patch changes the switch statement for dynamic interrupt throttling
and adds a default case. With this patch, we check the latency setting
instead of the current ITR settings and the included refactor improves
performance.

Without this patch, the ITR setting would never change dynamically, and
there was no default.

Emil Tantilov 9cba434f63 ixgbevf: add support for reporting RSS key and hash table for X550
This patch extends the reporting of the RSS key and hash table by
adding support for X550 VFs. The difference is that X550 VFs have
their own registers for RSS key and indirection table, so there is
no need to query the PF.

The RSS key and indirection table are stored in the adapter structure
during the configuration of VFRSSRK and VFRETA which in turn can be
used in ethtool for reporting.

The logic for writing VFRETA is also changed to make sure that the
indirection table is reported correctly.

In addition this patch adds defines for the VFRETA entries and number
of VFRSSRK registers as well as some whitespace cleanups.

Todd Fujinaka 2ba6c0797c igb: Fix i354 88E1112 PHY on RCC boards using AutoMediaDetect
e1000_check_for_link_media_swap() checks PHY page 0 for copper and PHY
page 1 for "other" (fiber) link. The switch back from page 1 to page 0
happened too soon, before e1000_check_for_link_82575() is executed, and
link on fiber (other) was never detected. Check for link while still on
the proper PHY page.

Fan Du 3b7884f75f ixgbe: Don't report flow director filter's status
For two reasons I want to disable this:
1. Not any part actually check the report status(Alexander Duyck)
2. To report hash value of a packet to stack,
   RSS -> 32bits hash value
   Perfect match fdir filter -> 13bits hash value
   Hashed-based fdir filter -> 31bits hash value

   fdir filter might hash on masked tuples for IP address,
   so it's still not desirable for usage.

So for now, just stick to RSS 32bits hash value.

Alexander Duyck f56e7bba22 igb: Pull timestamp from fragment before adding it to skb
This change makes it so that we pull the timestamp from the fragment before
we add it to the skb.  By doing this we can avoid a possible issue in which
the fragment can possibly be less than IGB_RX_HDR_LEN due to the timestamp
being pulled after the copybreak check.

While making this change I realized we could also pull the rest of the
igb_pull_tail function into igb_add_rx_frag since in the case of igb,
unlike ixgbe, we are able to unmap the entire buffer before calling
add_rx_frag so merging the two allows for sharing of code between the two
merged functions.

Faisal Latif 3bbf0faa90 i40e/i40evf: Add support for pre-allocated pages for PD
The i40e_add_pd_table_entry() routine is being modified to handle both
cases where a backing page is passed and where backing page is allocated
in i40e_add_pd_table_entry().

For PBLE resource management, it is more efficient for it to manage its
backing pages. For VF, PBLE backing page addresses will be send to PF
driver for PBLE resource.

The i40e_remove_pd_bp() is also modified to not free pre-allocated pages and
free only ones which were allocated in i40e_add_pd_table_entry().

During close, all of the MAC filters are cleared, so the driver would be
unable to receive unicast packets after being closed and reopened.

Add the adapter's "hardware" MAC address filter in open, not init. This

Mitch Williams 68ef169204 i40evf: don't delete all the filters
Due to an inverted conditional, the driver was marking all of its MAC
filters for deletion every time set_rx_mode was called. Depending upon
the timing of the calls to set_rx_mode and the processing of the admin
queue, the driver would (accidentally) end up with a varying number of
functional filters.

Correct this logic so that MAC filters are added and removed correctly.
Add a check for the driver's "hardware" MAC address so that this filter
doesn't get removed incorrectly.

Mitch Williams 54f455eeb5 i40e: do a proper reset when disabling a VF
The VF disable code was just whanging on the reset bit without properly
cleaning up the VF, which would leave the VF in an indeterminate state
from which it could not recover. Fix this by notifying the VF and then
by calling the normal VF reset routine.

Mitch Williams e995163cdc i40e: correctly program filters for VFs
MAC filters for VFs were being programmed with 0 for the VLAN value when
there was no VLAN assigned. This is incorrect and actually assigns the
VF to VLAN 0. Instead, we must use -1 to indicate that no VLAN is in
use. This change programs the filters correctly and gets rid of a bogus
error message when setting a port VLAN on an active VF.

Mitch Williams 85927ec1b3 i40e: ignore duplicate port VLAN requests
If user attempts to set a port VLAN on a VF that already has the same
port VLAN configured, the driver will go through a completely
unnecessary flurry of filter removals and filter adds. Just check for
this condition and return success instead of doing a bunch of busywork.

Mitch Williams 973371da4d i40evf: Allow for an abundance of vectors
The driver currently only maps TX and RX queues to a single MSI-X vector
per queue pair if there are exactly enough vectors for this.
Unfortunately, if we have too many vectors it will fail and allocate
queues to vectors in a suboptimal manner. Change the condition check to
allow for excess vectors. In this case, the extras just won't be used.

Pawel Orlowski c78b953e0f i40e/i40evf: Update Flex-10 related device/function capabilities
The Flex10 device/function capability has been upgraded to include
information needed to support Flex-10 configurations. This patch adds new
fields to the i40e_hw_capabilities structure and updates
i40e_parse_discover_capabilities functions to extract them from the AQ
response. Naming convention has changed to use flex10 mode instead of
existing mfp_mode_1.

Anjali Singhai Jain d0389e51fc i40e/i40evf: Add stats to track FD ATR and SB dynamic enable state
Since the driver can dynamically enable/disable FD ATR and SB features,
these stats help keep track of the current state and along with
fd_flush count provide a means to debug what could be going on
with the flow director filters. This will take away the need for
being verbose in our debug logs with respect to FD.

Mitch Williams 40746eb14c i40evf: don't configure unused RSS queues
The driver will only configure as many queues as there are available
CPUs, up the maximum number of queues. However, it always configures
RSS as though it is using the maximum number of queues. This can cause
the device to drop a lot of RX traffic, as the packets get assigned to
nonfunctional queues.

Fix this by only configuring RSS with the number of active queues.

Mitch Williams 67c818a1d5 i40evf: fix panic during MTU change
Down was requesting queue disables, but then exited immediately
without waiting for the queues to actually disable.  This could
allow any function called after i40evf_down to run immediately,
including i40evf_up, and causes a memory leak.

Removing the whole reinit_locked function is the best way
to go about this, and allows for the driver to handle the
state changes by requesting reset from the periodic timer.

Also, add a couple WARN_ONs in slow path to help us recognize
if we re-introduce this issue or missed any cases.

Yanir Lubetkin beee8072c3 e1000e: synchronization of MAC-PHY interface only on non- ME systems
On power up, the MAC - PHY interface needs to be set to PCIe, even if
cable is disconnected.  In ME systems, the ME handles this on exit from
Sx state. In non-ME, the driver handles it. Added a check for non-ME
system to the driver code that handles that.

One more missing piece of the puzzle.  Add vlan dump support to switchdev
port's bridge_getlink.  iproute2 "bridge vlan show" cmd already knows how
to show the vlans installed on the bridge and the device , but (until now)
no one implemented the port vlan part of the netlink PF_BRIDGE:RTM_GETLINK
msg.  Before this patch, "bridge vlan show":

Paul Gortmaker 138b15ed87 drivers/net: remove all references to obsolete Ethernet-HOWTO
This howto made sense in the 1990s when users had to manually configure
ISA cards with jumpers or vendor utilities, but with the implementation
of PCI it became increasingly less and less relevant, to the point where
it has been well over a decade since I last updated it.  And there is
no value in anyone else taking over updating it either.

However the references to it continue to spread as boiler plate text
from one Kconfig file into the next.  We are not doing end users any
favours by pointing them at this old document, so lets kill it with
fire, once and for all, to hopefully stop any further spread.

No code is changed in this commit, just Kconfig help text.

re-enable the VF again with the new requested settings. This ensures
that any switch rules are cleared by deleting the LPORT on the switch.
However, the flow is bugged because we actually check if the VF is
enabled at the end, and thus don't re-enable it. Fix the flow so that we
actually clear the enabled flags as part of our removal of the LPORT.

Jacob Keller 7fef39322c fm10k: pack TLV overlay structures
This patch adds the __attribute__((packed)) indicator to some structures
which are overlayed onto a TLV message. These structures must be packed
as small as possible in order to correctly align when copied into the
mailbox buffer. Without doing so, the receiving mailbox code incorrectly
parses the values and we get invalid message responses from the switch
manager software.

Jacob Keller fba341d5ca fm10k: re-map all possible VF queues after a VFLR
During initialization, the VF counts its rings by walking the TQDLOC
registers. This works only if the TQMAP/RQMAP registers are set to map
all of the out-of-bound rings back to the first one. This allows the VF
to cleanly detect when it has run out of queues. Update the PF code so
that it resets the empty TQMAP/RQMAP registers post-VFLR to prevent
innocent VF drivers from triggering malicious driver events.

Jacob Keller a38488f540 fm10k: force LPORT delete when updating VLAN or MAC address
Currently, we don't notify the switch at all when the PF
administratively sets a new VLAN or MAC address. This causes the old
addresses to remain valid on the switch table. Since the PF is
overriding any configuration done directly by the VF, we choose to
simply re-create the LPORT for the VF. This does mean that all rules for
the VF will be dropped when we set something directly via the PF, but it
prevents some weird issues where the MAC/VLAN table retains some stale
configuration.

Jacob Keller c04ae58e2b fm10k: use dma_set_mask_and_coherent in fm10k_probe
This patch cleans up the use of dma_get_required_mask and uses the
simpler dma_set_mask_and_coherent function instead of doing these as
separate steps.

I removed the dma_get_required_mask call because based on some minimal
testing it appears that either (a) we're not doing the right thing with
the call or (b) we don't need it anyways. If the value returned is
<48bits, we'll end up trying with 48 bits anyways. If it's over 48bits,
fm10k can't support that anyways, and we should try 48bits. If 48bits
fails, we'll fallback to 32bits. This cleans up some very funky code.

Jacob Keller ec6acb801e fm10k: add call to fm10k_clean_all_rx_rings in fm10k_down
This prevents a memory leak in fm10k_set_ringparams. The leak occurs
because we go down, change ring parameters, and then come up. However,
fm10k_down on its own is not clearing the Rx rings. Since fm10k_up
assumes the rings are clean we basically drop the buffers and leak a
bunch of memory. Eventually we hit dirty page faults and reboot the
system. This issue does not occur elsewhere because other flows that
involve fm10k_down go through fm10k_close which immediately called
fm10k_free_all_rx_resources which properly cleans the rings.

Jacob Keller c23544b196 fm10k: fix incorrect free on skb in ts_tx_enqueue
This patch resolves a bug in the ts_tx_enqueue code responsible for a
NULL pointer dereference and invalid access of the skb list. We
incorrectly freed the actual skb we found instead of our copy. Thus the
skb queue is essentially invalidated. Resolve this by freeing our clone
in the cases where we did not add it to the queue. This also avoids the
skb memory leak caused by failure to free the clone.
