TWL6030 family of PMIC use a shadow interrupt status register
while kernel processes the current interrupt event.
However, any write(0 or 1) to register INT_STS_A, INT_STS_B or
INT_STS_C clears all 3 interrupt status registers.
Since clear of the interrupt is done on 32k clk, depending on I2C
bus speed, we could in-adverently clear the status of a interrupt
status pending on shadow register in the current implementation.
This is due to the fact that multi-byte i2c write operation into
three seperate status register could result in multiple load
and clear of status and result in lost interrupts.
Instead, doing a single byte write to INT_STS_A register with 0x0
will clear all three interrupt status registers without the related
risk.

There are currently four different versions of the AB8500
around: AB8500, AB8505, AB9540 and AB8540. Unfortunately:
- Some of the chips (AB8500, AB8505, AB9540) cannot read
the AB8500_REV_REG register but return errors
- Some of them have the same ID value in the hardware
register AB8500_REV_REV, for example the first versions
of AB8505 and AB9540 have 0xFF in this register -
just like the AB8500.
So we need to be able to enforce a certain version from
the platform. We do this by using the id of the platform
device that provides the read/write functions.

This patch adds an initial PRCMU register access API, which
for now should only be used for a very limited set of registers.
The idea about this API is that we split the PRCMU driver in
one part that deals with interaction with the PRCMU firmware
and one part that simply provide write accessors in the PRCMU
register range. The latter are just a collection of registers
exposed in the PRCMU register range for various purposes and
not related to the PRCMU firmware.
Currently we support some limited GPIO, SPI and UART settings

This patch removes the simplistic implementation of irq_domains and enables
the powerpc infrastructure for all irq_domain users. The powerpc
infrastructure includes support for complex mappings between Linux and
hardware irq numbers, and can manage allocation of irq_descs.
This patch also converts the few users of irq_domain_add()/irq_domain_del()
to call irq_domain_add_legacy() instead.

This set of changes are fixing various section mismatch warnings which
look to be completely valid. Primerily, those which are fixed are those
which can cause oopses by manipulation of driver binding via sysfs. For
example: calling code marked __init from driver probe __devinit
functions.
Some of these changes will be reworked at the next merge window when the
underlying reasons are sorted out. In the mean time, I think it's
important to have this fixed for correctness.
Also included in this set are fixes to various error messages in OMAP -
including making them gramatically correct, fixing a few spelling
errors, and more importantly, making them greppable by unwrapping them.
Tony Lindgren has acked all these patches, put them out for testing a
week ago, and I've tested them on the platforms I have.

In commit aeb5032b3f, a dependency on IRQ_DOMAIN was added, which causes
regressions on previously working setups: a previously working non-DT
kernel configuration now loses its PMIC support. The lack of PMIC
support in turn causes the loss of other functionality the kernel had.
This dependency was added because the driver now registers its
interrupts with the IRQ domain code, presumably to prevent a build error.
The result is that OMAP3 oopses in the vp.c code (fixed by a previous
commit) due to the lack of PMIC support.
However, even with IRQ_DOMAIN enabled, the driver oopses:

This happens because we try to register an IRQ domain with a NULL ops
structure, and the first thing irq_domain_add() does is try to
dereference this ops structure.
So, fix the problem by getting rid of the incorrect OF_IRQ ifdef and
wrapping the IRQ domain bits of the driver with an IRQ_DOMAIN ifdef
instead.

We can safely do this now that we have sanitized host removal; the
original patch had use-after-free bugs in the removal code. Not only
that, but there was no checking of the ioremap() return.
The final change over Jochen's patch is that we wrap the base pointer
selection inside the various register indexes, which reduces the
possibility of the wrong register index being used.

host_unregister() gives us no chance between removing the device
and the mcp data structure being freed to access the data inbetween,
which drivers may need to do if they need to iounmap() pointers in
their private data structures.
Therefore, re-jig the interfaces, which are now, on creation:
mcp = mcp_host_alloc()
if (mcp) {
ret = mcp_host_add(mcp, data);
if (!ret)
mcp_host_free(mcp);
}
and on removal:
mcp_host_del(mcp);
... access mcp ...
mcp_host_free(mcp);
The free does the final put_device() on the struct device as one would
expect.

If the ucb1x00 touchscreen is resumed while the touchscreen is being
touched, the main thread stops responding. This occurs because two
things happen:
1. When we suspended, we were woken up, and executed the loop.
Finding that the touchscreen was not pressed, we prepare to
schedule for a maximum timeout, before being stopped in
try_to_freeze().
2. an irq occurs, we disable the irq, and mark it as disabled,
and wake the thread. This wake occurs while the thread is
still within __refrigerator()
3. The thread is unfrozen, and __refrigerator() sets the threads
state back to INTERRUPTIBLE.
We then drop into schedule_timeout() with an infinite timeout and the
IRQ disabled. This prevents any further screen touches activating
the thread.
Fix this by using kthread_freezable_should_stop() which handles the
freezing issues for us outside of the hotspot where the task state
matters. Include a flag to ignore the touchscreen until it is
released to avoid sending unintended data to the application.

The genirq layer complains if an interrupt handler returns with
interrupts enabled. The UCB1x00 handler does just this, because
ucb1x00_enable() calls mcp_enable(), which uses spin_lock_irq()
rather than spin_lock_irqsave(). Convert this, and the divisor
setting functions to use spin_lock_irqsave().

This reverts commit 5dd7bf59e0.
Conflicts:
scripts/mod/file2alias.c
This change is wrong on many levels. First and foremost, it causes a
regression. On boot on Assabet, which this patch gives a codec id of
'ucb1x00', it gives:
ucb1x00 ID not found: 1005
0x1005 is a valid ID for the UCB1300 device.
Secondly, this patch is way over the top in terms of complexity. The
only device which has been seen to be connected with this MCP code is
the UCB1x00 (UCB1200, UCB1300 etc) devices, and they all use the same
driver. Adding a match table, requiring the codec string to match the
hardware ID read out of the ID register, etc is completely over the top
when we can just read the hardware ID register.

There are two banks in 88pm8607. One is the normal bank, and the other
one is the test bank, it means it have the same register address in the
normal bank and test bank seperately.
For test bank register, it needs a special I2C sequence to acess as below,
Touching to 0xFA address
Touching to 0xFB address
Touching to 0xFF address
Accessing bank register
Touching to 0xFE address
Touching to 0xFC address
This sequence can't be interrupted. It means that we can't use
i2c_transfef() to implement touching 0xFA address. Otherwise, other i2c
operation may be inserted into 0xFA and 0xFB operation since the lock of
i2c_adapter is already released.
So for test bank we implemented specific i2c read/write operation;

The DB8500 ED (Early Drop) and V1 are only available inside of
ST-Ericsson or partners, we have actively replaced and scrapped
these prototypes. All Nova products on the open market (such as

So let us focus on supporting the silicon that will be used and
delete this to get a clear overview.

irq_set_chained_handler sets 'desc->handle_irq'.
However this irq is called by handle_nested_irq from handle_twl4030_pih,
and that uses action->thread_fn.
So the handled set with irq_set_chained_handler is never called.
So change to use request_threaded_irq instead - that sets the correct field.

hence instead of the clock enable/disable, the runtime pm APIS are
used. however,the optional clocks and port clocks are handled by

Describe the register map to the regmap core so that we can use its

built up by layering the functions on top of each other, though the
interface for specifying the register defaults isn't currently amenable

Instead of carrying around the __PRCMU_BASE in every read or
write to the PRCMU registers, move it out to the register
definition file and define registers along with their base
offset so that the code gets easier to read.

Module IRQs may still be disabled by DPM at the time the TWL6030
ISR runs, causing handle_simple_irq() to silently do nothing.
This may result in missing TWL RTC alarm wakeups, for example,
since the RTC child module ISR is not called to ack the IRQ.
Disable the TWL6030 IRQ during suspend, enable it at DPM resume
time, at which time the child module IRQs will be re-enabled.

LOCKDEP explicitly sets all irq_desc locks as a single lock-class,
causing "possible recursive locking detected" when the TWL RTC
driver calls through enable_irq_wake to twl6030_irq_set_wake,
which recursively calls irq_set_irq_wake. Although the
irq_desc and lock are different, LOCKDEP treats these as
equivalent, presumably due to problems that can be incurred
when locking more than one irq_desc, so best to avoid this.
Suspend/resume actions implemented as PM notifiers to avoid
touch the TWL core for this.

The AB3550 never passed the prototype stage. Instead it was used
as a precursor to AB5500 for testing basic building blocks used
in that chip, since they had large similarities. Since AB3550 will
not see the light of day in product form and since the prototypes
are no longer used, let's delete the driver and any references to
it.

This breaks the debugfs portions of the AB5500 driver into its own
file. Split off a _raw function to access registers since we don't
want to expose a generically named function globally. Move all
required data structures to a shared ab5500-core.h file.

The analog baseband chip ab5500 is a multi functional chip
containing regulators, charging, gpio, USB and accessory detect.
It also contain various multimedia functionalities like digital
encoder and audio codec.
The core driver added with this patch provides register access via
i2c via PRCMU. Event handling implemented as irq_chip will come in
future patches since it depends on PRCMU functionality not yet
implemented.

assignments to just before they are needed. This avoids doing them in
case we hit an earlier error exit from the function.

Add support for Intel MSIC chip found on Intel Medfield platforms. This
chip embeds several subdevices: audio, ADC, GPIO, power button, etc. The
driver creates platform device for each subdevice.
We also provide an MSIC register access API which should replace the more
generic SCU IPC interface currently used. Existing drivers can choose
whether they convert to this new API or stick with the SCU IPC interface.

In order to ease system integration provide a simulation of active high
IRQs on the GPIOs by polling the GPIO status when an IRQ is generated.
This isn't ideal on several fronts and will miss initially active IRQs in
the current implementation but it should work well for most cases.

TWL6030 devices have an interrupt line which is connected to
application processor like OMAP. These devices support multiple features
such as MMC card detect, USB cable detect, RTC interrupt, etc. that must
wake up the application processor.
With this change, TWL6030 client drivers can make use of
irq_wake() if the wakeup is desirable on it's irq events.

In systems where there is no hardware signal from the processor to the
PMIC to initiate the final power off sequence we must initiate the
shutdown with a register write to the PMIC. Support such systems in the
driver. Since this may prevent a full shutdown of the system platform
data is used to enable the feature.

The codec for Devkit8000 (TWL4030) was not detected except
when build with CONFIG_SND_SOC_ALL_CODECS.
twl-core.c still uses the CONFIG_TWL4030_CODEC for
twl_has_codec().
In commit 57fe7251f5
the CONFIG_TWL4030_CODEC was renamed
into CONFIG_MFD_TWL4030_AUDIO, thatswhy the codec
was not detected.
This patch renames the CONFIG_ TWL4030_CODEC into
CONFIG_MFD_TWL4030_AUDIO in twl-core.c.

We currently have two symbols to control compilation the MFD subsystem,
MFD_SUPPORT and MFD_CORE. The MFD_SUPPORT is actually not required
at all, it only hides the submenu when not set, with the effect that
Kconfig warns about missing dependencies when another driver selects
an MFD driver while MFD_SUPPORT is disabled. Turning the MFD submenu
back from menuconfig into a plain menu simplifies the Kconfig syntax
for those kinds of users and avoids the surprise when the menu
suddenly appears because another driver was enabled that selects this
symbol.
