Zhenzhong Duan 3097834637 x86: Add "nopv" parameter to disable PV extensions
In virtualization environment, PV extensions (drivers, interrupts,
timers, etc) are enabled in the majority of use cases which is the
best option.

However, in some cases (kexec not fully working, benchmarking)
we want to disable PV extensions. We have "xen_nopv" for that purpose
but only for XEN. For a consistent admin experience a common command
line parameter "nopv" set across all PV guest implementations is a
better choice.

There are guest types which just won't work without PV extensions,
like Xen PV, Xen PVH and jailhouse. add a "ignore_nopv" member to
struct hypervisor_x86 set to true for those guest types and call
the detect functions only if nopv is false or ignore_nopv is true.

Zhenzhong Duan 090d54bcbc Revert "x86/paravirt: Set up the virt_spin_lock_key after static keys get initialized"
This reverts commit ca5d376e17.

Commit 8990cac6e5 ("x86/jump_label: Initialize static branching

keys initialized early, so we could use the original simpler code
again.

Linus Torvalds f632a8170a Driver Core and debugfs changes for 5.3-rc1
Here is the "big" driver core and debugfs changes for 5.3-rc1

 It's a lot of different patches, all across the tree due to some api
 changes and lots of debugfs cleanups. Because of this, there is going
 to be some merge issues with your tree at the moment, I'll follow up
 with the expected resolutions to make it easier for you.

 Other than the debugfs cleanups, in this set of changes we have:
 	- bus iteration function cleanups (will cause build warnings
 	  with s390 and coresight drivers in your tree)
 	- scripts/get_abi.pl tool to display and parse Documentation/ABI
 	  entries in a simple way
 	- cleanups to Documenatation/ABI/ entries to make them parse
 	  easier due to typos and other minor things
 	- default_attrs use for some ktype users
 	- driver model documentation file conversions to .rst
 	- compressed firmware file loading
 	- deferred probe fixes

 All of these have been in linux-next for a while, with a bunch of merge
 issues that Stephen has been patient with me for. Other than the merge
 issues, functionality is working properly in linux-next :)

Thomas Gleixner 7652ac9201 x86/asm: Move native_write_cr0/4() out of line
The pinning of sensitive CR0 and CR4 bits caused a boot crash when loading
the kvm_intel module on a kernel compiled with CONFIG_PARAVIRT=n.

The reason is that the static key which controls the pinning is marked RO
after init. The kvm_intel module contains a CR4 write which requires to
update the static key entry list. That obviously does not work when the key
is in a RO section.

With CONFIG_PARAVIRT enabled this does not happen because the CR4 write
uses the paravirt indirection and the actual write function is built in.

As the key is intended to be immutable after init, move
native_write_cr0/4() out of line.

While at it consolidate the update of the cr4 shadow variable and store the
value right away when the pinning is initialized on a booting CPU. No point
in reading it back 20 instructions later. This allows to confine the static
key and the pinning variable to cpu/common and allows to mark them static.

Nadav Amit b3fd8e83ad x86/alternatives: Use temporary mm for text poking
text_poke() can potentially compromise security as it sets temporary
PTEs in the fixmap. These PTEs might be used to rewrite the kernel code
from other cores accidentally or maliciously, if an attacker gains the
ability to write onto kernel memory.

Moreover, since remote TLBs are not flushed after the temporary PTEs are
removed, the time-window in which the code is writable is not limited if
the fixmap PTEs - maliciously or accidentally - are cached in the TLB.
To address these potential security hazards, use a temporary mm for
patching the code.

Finally, text_poke() is also not conservative enough when mapping pages,
as it always tries to map 2 pages, even when a single one is sufficient.
So try to be more conservative, and do not map more than needed.

Ryan Thibodeaux 2ec16bc0fc x86/xen: Add "xen_timer_slop" command line option
Add a new command-line option "xen_timer_slop=<INT>" that sets the
minimum delta of virtual Xen timers. This commit does not change the
default timer slop value for virtual Xen timers.

Lowering the timer slop value should improve the accuracy of virtual
timers (e.g., better process dispatch latency), but it will likely
increase the number of virtual timer interrupts (relative to the
original slop setting).

The original timer slop value has not changed since the introduction
of the Xen-aware Linux kernel code. This commit provides users an
opportunity to tune timer performance given the refinements to
hardware and the Xen event channel processing. It also mirrors
a feature in the Xen hypervisor - the "timer_slop" Xen command line
option.

Andy Lutomirski e6401c1309 x86/irq/64: Split the IRQ stack into its own pages
Currently, the IRQ stack is hardcoded as the first page of the percpu
area, and the stack canary lives on the IRQ stack. The former gets in
the way of adding an IRQ stack guard page, and the latter is a potential
weakness in the stack canary mechanism.

Split the IRQ stack into its own private percpu pages.

Thomas Gleixner 66c7ceb47f x86/irq/32: Handle irq stack allocation failure proper
irq_ctx_init() crashes hard on page allocation failures. While that's ok
during early boot, it's just wrong in the CPU hotplug bringup code.

Check the page allocation failure and return -ENOMEM and handle it at the
call sites. On early boot the only way out is to BUG(), but on CPU hotplug
there is no reason to crash, so just abort the operation.

Rename the function to something more sensible while at it.

Add check for the return value of memblock_alloc*() functions and call

panicing memblock allocators with adjustment of parameters to include
only relevant ones.

The replacement was mostly automated with semantic patches like the one
below with manual massaging of format strings.

Juergen Gross 01bd2ac2f5 xen: fix dom0 boot on huge systems
Commit f7c90c2aa4 ("x86/xen: don't write ptes directly in 32-bit
PV guests") introduced a regression for booting dom0 on huge systems
with lots of RAM (in the TB range).

Reason is that on those hosts the p2m list needs to be moved early in
the boot process and this requires temporary page tables to be created.
Said commit modified xen_set_pte_init() to use a hypercall for writing
a PTE, but this requires the page table being in the direct mapped
area, which is not the case for the temporary page tables used in
xen_relocate_p2m().

As the page tables are completely written before being linked to the
actual address space instead of set_pte() a plain write to memory can
be used in xen_relocate_p2m().

Maran Wilson a43fb7da53 xen/pvh: Move Xen code for getting mem map via hcall out of common file
We need to refactor PVH entry code so that support for other hypervisors
like Qemu/KVM can be added more easily.

The original design for PVH entry in Xen guests relies on being able to
obtain the memory map from the hypervisor using a hypercall. When we
extend the PVH entry ABI to support other hypervisors like Qemu/KVM,
a new mechanism will be added that allows the guest to get the memory
map without needing to use hypercalls.

For Xen guests, the hypercall approach will still be supported. In
preparation for adding support for other hypervisors, we can move the
code that uses hypercalls into the Xen specific file. This will allow us
to compile kernels in the future without CONFIG_XEN that are still capable
of being booted as a Qemu/KVM guest via the PVH entry point.

Maran Wilson fcd4747698 xen/pvh: Move PVH entry code out of Xen specific tree
Once hypervisors other than Xen start using the PVH entry point for
starting VMs, we would like the option of being able to compile PVH entry
capable kernels without enabling CONFIG_XEN and all the code that comes
along with that. To allow that, we are moving the PVH code out of Xen and

Kirill A. Shutemov 16877a5570 x86/mm: Fix guard hole handling
There is a guard hole at the beginning of the kernel address space, also
used by hypervisors. It occupies 16 PGD entries.

This reserved range is not defined explicitely, it is calculated relative
to other entities: direct mapping and user space ranges.

The calculation got broken by recent changes of the kernel memory layout:
LDT remap range is now mapped before direct mapping and makes the
calculation invalid.

The breakage leads to crash on Xen dom0 boot[1].

Define the reserved range explicitely. It's part of kernel ABI (hypervisors
expect it to be stable) and must not depend on changes in the rest of
kernel memory layout.

Igor Druzhinin 123664101a Revert "xen/balloon: Mark unallocated host memory as UNUSABLE"
This reverts commit b3cf8528bb.

That commit unintentionally broke Xen balloon memory hotplug with
"hotplug_unpopulated" set to 1. As long as "System RAM" resource
got assigned under a new "Unusable memory" resource in IO/Mem tree
any attempt to online this memory would fail due to general kernel
restrictions on having "System RAM" resources as 1st level only.

The original issue that commit has tried to workaround fa564ad963
("x86/PCI: Enable a 64bit BAR on AMD Family 15h (Models 00-1f, 30-3f,
60-7f)") also got amended by the following 03a551734 ("x86/PCI: Move
and shrink AMD 64-bit window to avoid conflict") which made the
original fix to Xen ballooning unnecessary.

Juergen Gross d3132b3860 xen: fix xen_qlock_wait()
Commit a856531951 ("xen: make xen_qlock_wait() nestable")
introduced a regression for Xen guests running fully virtualized
(HVM or PVH mode). The Xen hypervisor wouldn't return from the poll
hypercall with interrupts disabled in case of an interrupt (for PV
guests it does).

So instead of disabling interrupts in xen_qlock_wait() use a nesting
counter to avoid calling xen_clear_irq_pending() in case
xen_qlock_wait() is nested.

Commit 9da3f2b740 ("x86/fault: BUG() when uaccess helpers fault on

Xen PV guests are using __put_user() and __get_user() for accessing the
p2m map (physical to machine frame number map) as accesses might fail
in case of not populated areas of the map.

With above commit using __put_user() and __get_user() for accessing
kernel pages is no longer valid. So replace the Xen hack by adding
appropriate p2m access functions using the default fixup handler.

Kirill A. Shutemov d52888aa27 x86/mm: Move LDT remap out of KASLR region on 5-level paging
On 5-level paging the LDT remap area is placed in the middle of the KASLR
randomization region and it can overlap with the direct mapping, the
vmalloc or the vmap area.

The LDT mapping is per mm, so it cannot be moved into the P4D page table
next to the CPU_ENTRY_AREA without complicating PGD table allocation for
5-level paging.

The 4 PGD slot gap just before the direct mapping is reserved for
hypervisors, so it cannot be used.

Move the direct mapping one slot deeper and use the resulting gap for the
LDT remap area. The resulting layout is the same for 4 and 5 level paging.

Juergen Gross a856531951 xen: make xen_qlock_wait() nestable
xen_qlock_wait() isn't safe for nested calls due to interrupts. A call
of xen_qlock_kick() might be ignored in case a deeper nesting level
was active right before the call of xen_poll_irq():

CPU 1:                                   CPU 2:
spin_lock(lock1)
                                         spin_lock(lock1)

spin_unlock(lock1)
-> xen_qlock_kick(CPU 2)

                                         spin_lock_irqsave(lock2)

                                            -> xen_clear_irq_pending()
                                               clears kick for lock1
                                            -> xen_poll_irq()
spin_unlock_irq_restore(lock2)
-> xen_qlock_kick(CPU 2)
                                            wakes up
                                         spin_unlock_irq_restore(lock2)
                                         IRET
                                           resumes in xen_qlock_wait()
                                           -> xen_poll_irq()
                                           never wakes up

The solution is to disable interrupts in xen_qlock_wait() and not to
poll for the irq in case xen_qlock_wait() is called in nmi context.

Juergen Gross 2ac2a7d4d9 xen: fix race in xen_qlock_wait()
In the following situation a vcpu waiting for a lock might not be
woken up from xen_poll_irq():

CPU 1:                CPU 2:                      CPU 3:
takes a spinlock
                      tries to get lock
                      -> xen_qlock_wait()
frees the lock
-> xen_qlock_kick(cpu2)
                        -> xen_clear_irq_pending()

takes lock again
                                                  tries to get lock
                                                  -> *lock = _Q_SLOW_VAL
                        -> *lock == _Q_SLOW_VAL ?
                        -> xen_poll_irq()
frees the lock
-> xen_qlock_kick(cpu3)

And cpu 2 will sleep forever.

This can be avoided easily by modifying xen_qlock_wait() to call
xen_poll_irq() only if the related irq was not pending and to call
xen_clear_irq_pending() only if it was pending.

Christophe Leroy 977e4be5eb x86/stackprotector: Remove the call to boot_init_stack_canary() from cpu_startup_entry()
The following commit:

  d7880812b3 ("idle: Add the stack canary init to cpu_startup_entry()")

... added an x86 specific boot_init_stack_canary() call to the generic
cpu_startup_entry() as a temporary hack, with the intention to remove
the #ifdef CONFIG_X86 later.

More than 5 years later let's finally realize that plan! :-)

While implementing stack protector support for PowerPC, we found
that calling boot_init_stack_canary() is also needed for PowerPC
which uses per task (TLS) stack canary like the X86.

However, calling boot_init_stack_canary() would break architectures
using a global stack canary (ARM, SH, MIPS and XTENSA).

Instead of modifying the #ifdef CONFIG_X86 to an even messier:

   #if defined(CONFIG_X86) || defined(CONFIG_PPC)

PowerPC implemented the call to boot_init_stack_canary() in the function
calling cpu_startup_entry().

Let's try the same cleanup on the x86 side as well.

On x86 we have two functions calling cpu_startup_entry():

 - start_secondary()
 - cpu_bringup_and_idle()

start_secondary() already calls boot_init_stack_canary(), so
it's good, and this patch adds the call to boot_init_stack_canary()
in cpu_bringup_and_idle().

I.e. now x86 catches up to the rest of the world and the ugly init
sequence in init/main.c can be removed from cpu_startup_entry().

As a final benefit we can also remove the <linux/stackprotector.h>
dependency from <linux/sched.h>.

Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz b3569d3a4b x86/kconfig: Remove redundant 'default n' lines from all x86 Kconfig's
'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also, since commit:

  f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO is not set' for visible symbols")

... the Kconfig behavior is the same regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

    ...
    One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
    the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

        config FOO
                bool

        config FOO
                bool
                default n

    With this change, neither of these will generate a
    '# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
    That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
    redundant.

2) A few important regression fixes went into upstream directly, so

Pu Wen 4044240365 x86/xen: Add Hygon Dhyana support to Xen
To make Xen work on the Hygon platform, reuse AMD's Xen support code
path for Hygon Dhyana CPU.

There are six core performance events counters per thread, so there are
six MSRs for these counters. Also there are four legacy PMC MSRs, they
are aliases of the counters.

In this version, use the legacy and safe version of MSR access. Tested
successfully with VPMU enabled in Xen on Hygon platform by testing with

Feng Tang 05ab1d8a4b x86/mm: Expand static page table for fixmap space
We met a kernel panic when enabling earlycon, which is due to the fixmap
address of earlycon is not statically setup.

Currently the static fixmap setup in head_64.S only covers 2M virtual
address space, while it actually could be in 4M space with different
kernel configurations, e.g. when VSYSCALL emulation is disabled.

So increase the static space to 4M for now by defining FIXMAP_PMD_NUM to 2,
and add a build time check to ensure that the fixmap is covered by the
initial static page tables.

Andy Lutomirski 98f05b5138 x86/entry/64: Use the TSS sp2 slot for SYSCALL/SYSRET scratch space
In the non-trampoline SYSCALL64 path, a percpu variable is used to

Instead of a separate variable, use the otherwise unused sp2 slot in the
TSS. This will improve cache locality, as the sp1 slot is already used in

Linus Torvalds 706a1ea65e Merge branch 'tlb-fixes'
Merge fixes for missing TLB shootdowns.

This fixes a couple of cases that involved us possibly freeing page
table structures before the required TLB shootdown had been done.

There are a few cleanup patches to make the code easier to follow, and
to avoid some of the more problematic cases entirely when not necessary.

To make this easier for backports, it undoes the recent lazy TLB
patches, because the cleanups and fixes are more important, and Rik is
ok with re-doing them later when things have calmed down.

The missing TLB flush was only delayed, and the wrong ordering only
happened under memory pressure (and in theory under a couple of other
fairly theoretical situations), so this may have been all very unlikely
to have hit people in practice.

But getting the TLB shootdown wrong is _so_ hard to debug and see that I
consider this a crticial fix.

Many thanks to Jann Horn for having debugged this.

Juergen Gross 75f2d3a0ce x86/xen: enable early use of set_fixmap in 32-bit Xen PV guest
Commit 7b25b9cb0d ("x86/xen/time: Initialize pv xen time in
init_hypervisor_platform()") moved the mapping of the shared info area
before pagetable_init(). This breaks booting as 32-bit PV guest as the
use of set_fixmap isn't possible at this time on 32-bit.

This can be worked around by populating the needed PMD on 32-bit
kernel earlier.

In order not to reimplement populate_extra_pte() using extend_brk()
for allocating new page tables extend alloc_low_pages() to do that in
case the early page table pool is not yet available.

  the referenced data if it is present in the Level 1 Data Cache, as if
  the page referenced by the address bits in the PTE was still present
  and accessible.

  While this is a purely speculative mechanism and the instruction will
  raise a page fault when it is retired eventually, the pure act of
  loading the data and making it available to other speculative
  instructions opens up the opportunity for side channel attacks to
  unprivileged malicious code, similar to the Meltdown attack.

  While Meltdown breaks the user space to kernel space protection, L1TF
  allows to attack any physical memory address in the system and the
  attack works across all protection domains. It allows an attack of SGX
  and also works from inside virtual machines because the speculation
  bypasses the extended page table (EPT) protection mechanism.

  The assoicated CVEs are: CVE-2018-3615, CVE-2018-3620, CVE-2018-3646

  The mitigations provided by this pull request include:

   - Host side protection by inverting the upper address bits of a non
     present page table entry so the entry points to uncacheable memory.

   - Hypervisor protection by flushing L1 Data Cache on VMENTER.

   - SMT (HyperThreading) control knobs, which allow to 'turn off' SMT
     by offlining the sibling CPU threads. The knobs are available on
     the kernel command line and at runtime via sysfs

   - Control knobs for the hypervisor mitigation, related to L1D flush
     and SMT control. The knobs are available on the kernel command line
     and at runtime via sysfs

   - Extensive documentation about L1TF including various degrees of
     mitigations.

  Thanks to all people who have contributed to this in various ways -
  patches, review, testing, backporting - and the fruitful, sometimes
  heated, but at the end constructive discussions.

  There is work in progress to provide other forms of mitigations, which
  might be less horrible performance wise for a particular kind of
  workloads, but this is not yet ready for consumption due to their
  complexity and limitations"

Juergen Gross cd9139220b xen: don't use privcmd_call() from xen_mc_flush()
Using privcmd_call() for a singleton multicall seems to be wrong, as
privcmd_call() is using stac()/clac() to enable hypervisor access to
Linux user space.

Even if currently not a problem (pv domains can't use SMAP while HVM
and PVH domains can't use multicalls) things might change when
PVH dom0 support is added to the kernel.

M. Vefa Bicakci 405c018a25 xen/pv: Call get_cpu_address_sizes to set x86_virt/phys_bits
Commit d94a155c59 ("x86/cpu: Prevent cpuinfo_x86::x86_phys_bits
adjustment corruption") has moved the query and calculation of the
x86_virt_bits and x86_phys_bits fields of the cpuinfo_x86 struct
from the get_cpu_cap function to a new function named
get_cpu_address_sizes.

One of the call sites related to Xen PV VMs was unfortunately missed
in the aforementioned commit. This prevents successful boot-up of
kernel versions 4.17 and up in Xen PV VMs if CONFIG_DEBUG_VIRTUAL
is enabled, due to the following code path:

  enlighten_pv.c::xen_start_kernel
    mmu_pv.c::xen_reserve_special_pages
      page.h::__pa
        physaddr.c::__phys_addr
          physaddr.h::phys_addr_valid

phys_addr_valid uses boot_cpu_data.x86_phys_bits to validate physical
addresses. boot_cpu_data.x86_phys_bits is no longer populated before
the call to xen_reserve_special_pages due to the aforementioned commit
though, so the validation performed by phys_addr_valid fails, which
causes __phys_addr to trigger a BUG, preventing boot-up.

Nicolai Stange 447ae31667 x86: Don't include linux/irq.h from asm/hardirq.h
The next patch in this series will have to make the definition of
irq_cpustat_t available to entering_irq().

Inclusion of asm/hardirq.h into asm/apic.h would cause circular header
dependencies like

  asm/smp.h
    asm/apic.h
      asm/hardirq.h
        linux/irq.h
          linux/topology.h
            linux/smp.h
              asm/smp.h

or

  linux/gfp.h
    linux/mmzone.h
      asm/mmzone.h
        asm/mmzone_64.h
          asm/smp.h
            asm/apic.h
              asm/hardirq.h
                linux/irq.h
                  linux/irqdesc.h
                    linux/kobject.h
                      linux/sysfs.h
                        linux/kernfs.h
                          linux/idr.h
                            linux/gfp.h

and others.

This causes compilation errors because of the header guards becoming
effective in the second inclusion: symbols/macros that had been defined
before wouldn't be available to intermediate headers in the #include chain
anymore.

A possible workaround would be to move the definition of irq_cpustat_t
into its own header and include that from both, asm/hardirq.h and
asm/apic.h.

However, this wouldn't solve the real problem, namely asm/harirq.h
unnecessarily pulling in all the linux/irq.h cruft: nothing in
asm/hardirq.h itself requires it. Also, note that there are some other
archs, like e.g. arm64, which don't have that #include in their
asm/hardirq.h.

Remove the linux/irq.h #include from x86' asm/hardirq.h.

Fix resulting compilation errors by adding appropriate #includes to *.c
files as needed.

Note that some of these *.c files could be cleaned up a bit wrt. to their
set of #includes, but that should better be done from separate patches, if
at all.

Pavel Tatashin 7b25b9cb0d x86/xen/time: Initialize pv xen time in init_hypervisor_platform()
In every hypervisor except for xen pv time ops are initialized in
init_hypervisor_platform().

Xen PV domains initialize time ops in x86_init.paging.pagetable_init(),
by calling xen_setup_shared_info() which is a poor design, as time is
needed prior to memory allocator.

xen_setup_shared_info() is called from two places: during boot, and
after suspend. Split the content of xen_setup_shared_info() into
three places:

1. add the clock relavent data into new xen pv init_platform vector, and
   set clock ops in there.

2. move xen_setup_vcpu_info_placement() to new xen_pv_guest_late_init()
   call.

3. Re-initializing parts of shared info copy to xen_pv_post_suspend() to

Setting pv_irq_ops for Xen PV domains should be done as early as
possible in order to support e.g. very early printk() usage.

The same applies to xen_vcpu_info_reset(0), as it is needed for the
pv irq ops.

Move the call of xen_setup_machphys_mapping() after initializing the
pv functions as it contains a WARN_ON(), too.

Remove the no longer necessary conditional in xen_init_irq_ops()

broken beyond 2106:

  pvclock_read_wallclock() uses a 32-bit number of seconds since the epoch

Linus Torvalds e6506eb241 Some of the ftrace internal events use a zero for a data size of
a field event. This is increasingly important for the histogram trigger
 work that is being extended.

 While auditing trace events, I found that a couple of the xen events
 were used as just marking that a function was called, by creating
 a static array of size zero. This can play havoc with the tracing
 features if these events are used, because a zero size of a static
 array is denoted as a special nul terminated dynamic array (this is
 what the trace_marker code uses). But since the xen events have no
 size, they are not nul terminated, and unexpected results may occur.

 As trace events were never intended on being a marker to denote
 that a function was hit or not, especially since function tracing
 and kprobes can trivially do the same, the best course of action is
 to simply remove these events.

Steven Rostedt (VMware) 45dd9b0666 tracing/x86/xen: Remove zero data size trace events trace_xen_mmu_flush_tlb{_all}
Doing an audit of trace events, I discovered two trace events in the xen
subsystem that use a hack to create zero data size trace events. This is not
what trace events are for. Trace events add memory footprint overhead, and
if all you need to do is see if a function is hit or not, simply make that
function noinline and use function tracer filtering.

Worse yet, the hack used was:

 __array(char, x, 0)

Which creates a static string of zero in length. There's assumptions about
such constructs in ftrace that this is a dynamic string that is nul
terminated. This is not the case with these tracepoints and can cause
problems in various parts of ftrace.

Nuke the trace events!

Paul Durrant 3ad0876554 xen/privcmd: add IOCTL_PRIVCMD_MMAP_RESOURCE
My recent Xen patch series introduces a new HYPERVISOR_memory_op to
support direct priv-mapping of certain guest resources (such as ioreq
pages, used by emulators) by a tools domain, rather than having to access
such resources via the guest P2M.

This patch adds the necessary infrastructure to the privcmd driver and
Xen MMU code to support direct resource mapping.

NOTE: The adjustment in the MMU code is partially cosmetic. Xen will now
      allow a PV tools domain to map guest pages either by GFN or MFN, thus
      the term 'mfn' has been swapped for 'pfn' in the lower layers of the
      remap code.

Initialize UEFI secure boot state during dom0 boot. Otherwise the kernel
may not even know that it runs on secure boot enabled platform.

Note that part of drivers/firmware/efi/libstub/secureboot.c is duplicated
by this patch, only in this case, it runs in the context of the kernel
proper rather than UEFI boot context. The reason for the duplication is
that maintaining the original code to run correctly on ARM/arm64 as well
as on all the quirky x86 firmware we support is enough of a burden as it
is, and adding the x86/Xen execution context to that mix just so we can
reuse a single routine just isn't worth it.

During boot, the HYPERVISOR_shared_info page gets remapped to make it work
with KASLR. This means that any pointer derived from it needs to be
adjusted.

The only value that this applies to is the vcpu_info pointer for VCPU 0.
For PV and HVM with the callback vector feature, this gets done via the
smp_ops prepare_boot_cpu callback. Older Xen versions do not support the
HVM callback vector, so there is no Xen-specific smp_ops set up in that
scenario. So, the vcpu_info pointer for VCPU 0 never gets set to the proper
value, and the first reference of it will be bad. Fix this by resetting it
immediately after the remap.

Pavel Tatashin 6f84f8d158 xen, mm: allow deferred page initialization for xen pv domains
Juergen Gross noticed that commit f7f99100d8 ("mm: stop zeroing memory
during allocation in vmemmap") broke XEN PV domains when deferred struct
page initialization is enabled.

This is because the xen's PagePinned() flag is getting erased from
struct pages when they are initialized later in boot.

Juergen fixed this problem by disabling deferred pages on xen pv
domains. It is desirable, however, to have this feature available as it
reduces boot time. This fix re-enables the feature for pv-dmains, and
fixes the problem the following way:

The fix is to delay setting PagePinned flag until struct pages for all
allocated memory are initialized, i.e. until after free_all_bootmem().

A new x86_init.hyper op init_after_bootmem() is called to let xen know
that boot allocator is done, and hence struct pages for all the
allocated memory are now initialized. If deferred page initialization
is enabled, the rest of struct pages are going to be initialized later
in boot once page_alloc_init_late() is called.

xen_after_bootmem() walks page table's pages and marks them pinned.

Li RongQing a774635db5 x86/apic: Fix signedness bug in APIC ID validity checks
The APIC ID as parsed from ACPI MADT is validity checked with the
apic->apic_id_valid() callback, which depends on the selected APIC type.

For non X2APIC types APIC IDs >= 0xFF are invalid, but values > 0x7FFFFFFF
are detected as valid. This happens because the 'apicid' argument of the
apic_id_valid() callback is type 'int'. So the resulting comparison

   apicid < 0xFF

evaluates to true for all unsigned int values > 0x7FFFFFFF which are handed
to default_apic_id_valid(). As a consequence, invalid APIC IDs in !X2APIC
mode are considered valid and accounted as possible CPUs.

Change the apicid argument type of the apic_id_valid() callback to u32 so
the evaluation is unsigned and returns the correct result.

Boris Ostrovsky a5a18ae73b xen/pvh: Indicate XENFEAT_linux_rsdp_unrestricted to Xen
Pre-4.17 kernels ignored start_info's rsdp_paddr pointer and instead
relied on finding RSDP in standard location in BIOS RO memory. This
has worked since that's where Xen used to place it.

However, with recent Xen change (commit 4a5733771e6f ("libxl: put RSDP
for PVH guest near 4GB")) it prefers to keep RSDP at a "non-standard"
address. Even though as of commit b17d9d1df3 ("x86/xen: Add pvh
specific rsdp address retrieval function") Linux is able to find RSDP,
for back-compatibility reasons we need to indicate to Xen that we can
handle this, an we do so by setting XENFEAT_linux_rsdp_unrestricted
flag in ELF notes.

(Also take this opportunity and sync features.h header file with Xen)

Rafael J. Wysocki 0e7767687f time: tick-sched: Reorganize idle tick management code
Prepare the scheduler tick code for reworking the idle loop to
avoid stopping the tick in some cases.

The idea is to split the nohz idle entry call to decouple the idle
time stats accounting and preparatory work from the actual tick stop
code, in order to later be able to delay the tick stop once we reach
more power-knowledgeable callers.

Move away the tick_nohz_start_idle() invocation from
__tick_nohz_idle_enter(), rename the latter to
__tick_nohz_idle_stop_tick() and define tick_nohz_idle_stop_tick()
as a wrapper around it for calling it from the outside.

Make tick_nohz_idle_enter() only call tick_nohz_start_idle() instead
of calling the entire __tick_nohz_idle_enter(), add another wrapper
disabling and enabling interrupts around tick_nohz_idle_stop_tick()
and make the current callers of tick_nohz_idle_enter() call it too
to retain their current functionality.

Baoquan He 51b146c572 x86/apic: Rename variables and functions related to x86_io_apic_ops
The names of x86_io_apic_ops and its two member variables are
misleading:

The ->read() member is to read IO_APIC reg, while ->disable()
which is called by native_disable_io_apic()/irq_remapping_disable_io_apic()
is actually used to restore boot IRQ mode, not to disable the IO-APIC.

So rename x86_io_apic_ops to 'x86_apic_ops' since it doesn't only
handle the IO-APIC, but also the local APIC.

Andy Lutomirski 1299ef1d88 x86/mm: Rename flush_tlb_single() and flush_tlb_one() to __flush_tlb_one_[user|kernel]()
flush_tlb_single() and flush_tlb_one() sound almost identical, but
they really mean "flush one user translation" and "flush one kernel
translation". Rename them to flush_tlb_one_user() and
flush_tlb_one_kernel() to make the semantics more obvious.

[ I was looking at some PTI-related code, and the flush-one-address code
  is unnecessarily hard to understand because the names of the helpers are
  uninformative. This came up during PTI review, but no one got around to
  doing it. ]

When running as Xen pv guest %gs is initialized some time after
C code is started. Depending on stack protector usage this might be
too late, resulting in page faults.

So setup %gs and MSR_GS_BASE in assembly code already.

Jiri Bohac 2a3e83c6f9 x86/gart: Exclude GART aperture from vmcore
On machines where the GART aperture is mapped over physical RAM
/proc/vmcore contains the remapped range and reading it may cause hangs or
reboots.

In the past, the GART region was added into the resource map, implemented
by commit 56dd669a13 ("[PATCH] Insert GART region into resource map")

However, inserting the iomem_resource from the early GART code caused
resource conflicts with some AGP drivers (bko#72201), which got avoided by
reverting the patch in commit 707d4eefbd ("Revert [PATCH] Insert GART
region into resource map"). This revert introduced the /proc/vmcore bug.

The vmcore ELF header is either prepared by the kernel (when using the
kexec_file_load syscall) or by the kexec userspace (when using the kexec_load
syscall). Since we no longer have the GART iomem resource, the userspace
kexec has no way of knowing which region to exclude from the ELF header.

Changes from v1 of this patch:
Instead of excluding the aperture from the ELF header, this patch
makes /proc/vmcore return zeroes in the second kernel when attempting to
read the aperture region. This is done by reusing the
gart_oldmem_pfn_is_ram infrastructure originally intended to exclude XEN
balooned memory. This works for both, the kexec_file_load and kexec_load
syscalls.

[Note that the GART region is the same in the first and second kernels:
regardless whether the first kernel fixed up the northbridge/bios setting
and mapped the aperture over physical memory, the second kernel finds the
northbridge properly configured by the first kernel and the aperture
never overlaps with e820 memory because the second kernel has a fake e820
map created from the crashkernel memory regions. Thus, the second kernel
keeps the aperture address/size as configured by the first kernel.]

register_oldmem_pfn_is_ram can only register one callback and returns an error
if the callback has been registered already. Since XEN used to be the only user
of this function, it never checks the return value. Now that we have more than
one user, I added a WARN_ON just in case agp, XEN, or any other future user of
register_oldmem_pfn_is_ram were to step on each other's toes.
