This patch maps the new page to user space applications to
allow converting a user space completion timestamp to system wall
time at the lowest possible latency cost.
By using a versioning scheme we allow compatibility between current
and future userspace libraries.
The change moves mlx5_ib_mmap_cmd enum from mlx5_ib.h to the
abi header file mlx5-abi.h.

Adds a new page to mlx5 core containing clock info data that allows
user level applications to translate between cqe timestamp to
nanoseconds. The information stored into this page is represented
through mlx5_ib_clock_info.
In order to synchronize between kernel and user space a sequence
number is incremented at the beginning and end of each update.
An odd number means the data is being updated while an even means
the access was already done. To guarantee that the data structure
was accessed atomically user will:
repeat:
seq1 = <read sequence>
goto <repeate> while odd
<read data structure>
seq2 = <read sequence>

A DC Target (DCT) QP is represented in the hardware as a unique object.
This object is created by CREATE_DCT command and destroyed by DESTROY_DCT
command. However, in the driver we describe it as a QP.
The hardware command that creates a DCT needs parameters that the verb
create_qp() does not provide. Those remaining parameters are provided
with the call to the verb modify_qp(). Therefore we delay the actual
creation of a DCT in the hardware until the stage of modify_qp() to RTR.
A support for query_qp() was added as well. It uses QUERY_DCT command to
retrieve the applicable fields.

Currently upon alloc context there is some fix size of UARs that are

QP.

"This is a fairly plain pull request. Lots of driver updates across the
stack, a huge number of static analysis cleanups including a close to
50 patch series from Bart Van Assche, and a number of new features
inside the stack such as general CQ moderation support.
Nothing really stands out, but there might be a few conflicts as you
take things in. In particular, the cleanups touched some of the same
lines as the new timer_setup changes.
Everything in this pull request has been through 0day and at least two
days of linux-next (since Stephen doesn't necessarily flag new
errors/warnings until day2). A few more items (about 30 patches) from
Intel and Mellanox showed up on the list on Tuesday. I've excluded
those from this pull request, and I'm sure some of them qualify as
fixes suitable to send any time, but I still have to review them
fully. If they contain mostly fixes and little or no new development,
then I will probably send them through by the end of the week just to
get them out of the way.
There was a break in my acceptance of patches which coincides with the
computer problems I had, and then when I got things mostly back under
control I had a backlog of patches to process, which I did mostly last
Friday and Monday. So there is a larger number of patches processed in

Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either
incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the
license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for
compliance tools to determine the correct license.
Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was
chosen based on the license information in the file.
GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license
identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is
the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall
exception:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL
code, without confusing license compliance tools.
Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed
under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX
identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format
is:
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE)
SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be
used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove
existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case
basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will
happen in a separate step.

By default are files without license information under the default

them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not
intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception
which is in the kernels COPYING file:

of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
otherwise syscall usage would not be possible.

Adding CQ ioctl actions:
1. create_cq
2. destroy_cq
This requires adding the following:
1. A specification describing the method
a. Handler
b. Attributes specification
Each attribute is one of the following:
a. PTR_IN - input data
Note: This could be encoded inlined for
data < 64bit
b. PTR_OUT - response data
c. IDR - idr based object
d. FD - fd based object
Blobs attributes (clauses a and b) contain their type,
while objects specifications (clauses c and d)
contains the expected object type (for example, the
given id should be UVERBS_TYPE_PD) and the required
access (READ, WRITE, NEW or DESTROY). If a NEW is
required, the new object's id will be assigned to this
attribute. All attributes could get UA_FLAGS
attribute. Currently we support stating that an
attribute is mandatory or that the specification size
corresponds to a lower bound (and that this attribute
could be extended).
We currently add both default attributes and the two
generic UHW_IN and UHW_OUT driver specific attributes.
2. Handler
A handler gets a uverbs_attr_bundle. The handler developer uses
uverbs_attr_get to fetch an attribute of a given id.
Each of these attribute groups correspond to the specification
group defined in the action (clauses 1.b and 1.c respectively).
The indices of these arrays corresponds to the attribute ids
declared in the specifications (clause 2).
The handler is quite simple. It assumes the infrastructure fetched
all objects and locked, created or destroyed them as required by
the specification. Pointer (or blob) attributes were validated to
match their required sizes. After the handler finished, the
infrastructure commits or rollbacks the objects.

In this ioctl interface, processing the command starts from
properties of the command and fetching the appropriate user objects
before calling the handler.
Parsing and validation is done according to a specifier declared by
the driver's code. In the driver, all supported objects are declared.
These objects are separated to different object namepsaces. Dividing
objects to namespaces is done at initialization by using the higher
bits of the object ids. This initialization can mix objects declared
in different places to one parsing tree using in this ioctl interface.
For each object we list all supported methods. Similarly to objects,
methods are separated to method namespaces too. Namespacing is done
similarly to the objects case. This could be used in order to add
methods to an existing object.
Each method has a specific handler, which could be either a default
handler or a driver specific handler.
Along with the handler, a bunch of attributes are specified as well.
Similarly to objects and method, attributes are namespaced and hashed
by their ids at initialization too. All supported attributes are
subject to automatic fetching and validation. These attributes include
the command, response and the method's related objects' ids.
When these entities (objects, methods and attributes) are used, the
high bits of the entities ids are used in order to calculate the hash
bucket index. Then, these high bits are masked out in order to have a
zero based index. Since we use these high bits for both bucketing and
namespacing, we get a compact representation and O(1) array access.
This is mandatory for efficient dispatching.
Each attribute has a type (PTR_IN, PTR_OUT, IDR and FD) and a length.
Attributes could be validated through some attributes, like:
(*) Minimum size / Exact size
(*) Fops for FD
(*) Object type for IDR
If an IDR/fd attribute is specified, the kernel also states the object
type and the required access (NEW, WRITE, READ or DESTROY).
All uobject/fd management is done automatically by the infrastructure,
meaning - the infrastructure will fail concurrent commands that at
least one of them requires concurrent access (WRITE/DESTROY),
synchronize actions with device removals (dissociate context events)
and take care of reference counting (increase/decrease) for concurrent
actions invocation. The reference counts on the actual kernel objects
shall be handled by the handlers.

Introduce new defines to rdma_netlink.h, so the RDMA configuration tool
will be able to communicate with RDMA subsystem by using the shared defines.
The addition of new client (NLDEV) revealed the fact that we exposed by
mistake the RDMA_NL_I40IW define which is not backed by any RDMA netlink
by now and it won't be exposed in the future too. So this patch reuses
the value and deletes the old defines.
The NLDEV operates with objects. The struct ib_device has two straightforward
objects: device itself and ports of that device.
This brings us to propose the following commands to work on those objects:
* RDMA_NLDEV_CMD_{GET,SET,NEW,DEL} - works on ib_device itself
* RDMA_NLDEV_CMD_PORT_{GET,SET,NEW,DEL} - works on ports of specific ib_device
Those commands receive/return the device index (RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_DEV_INDEX)
and port index (RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_PORT_INDEX). For device object accesses,
the RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_PORT_INDEX will return the maximum number of ports
for specific ib_device and for port access the actual port index.
The port index starts from 1 to follow RDMA/core internal semantics and
the sysfs exposed knobs.

Support create/modify/destroy WQ related verbs.
The base IB object to enable RSS functionality is a WQ (i.e. ib_wq).
This patch implements the related WQ verbs as of create, modify and
destroy.
In downstream patches the WQ will be used as part of an indirection
table (i.e. ib_rwq_ind_table) to enable RSS QP creation.
Notes:
ConnectX-3 hardware requires consecutive WQNs list as receive descriptor
queues for the RSS QP. Hence, the driver manages consecutive ranges lists
per context which the user must respect.
Destroying the WQ does not return its WQN back to its range for
reusing. However, destroying all WQs from the same range releases the
range and in turn releases its WQNs for reusing.
Since the WQ object is not a natural object in the hardware, the driver
implements the WQ by the hardware QP.
As such, the WQ inherits its port from its RSS QP parent upon its
RST->INIT transition and by that time its state is applied to the
hardware.

For some mlx5 HW models (CX4, CX4Lx), the VF driver needs to put part
of the packet headers on the TX descriptor so the e-switch can do proper
matching and steering. This is called "min-inline", it's advertized to
the VF by the FW and also enforced on them by the HW, such that if they
don't obey, their packets are dropped.
SRIOV VF libmlx5 instances should take into account the min-inline
value of their vports. For that end, we provide this value through
the vendor response part of init_ucontext command.
The min inline value is reported in a way which will let newer libmlx5
instances realize that they are running over an older kernel and act
accordingly (e.g apply some educated guess).

This patch series adds a driver for a paravirtual RDMA device. The
device is developed for VMware's Virtual Machines and allows existing RDMA
applications to continue to use existing Verbs API when deployed in VMs
on ESXi. We recently did a presentation in the OFA Workshop [1] regarding
this device.
Description and RDMA Support
============================
The virtual device is exposed as a dual function PCIe device. One part
is a virtual network device (VMXNet3) which provides networking properties
like MAC, IP addresses to the RDMA part of the device. The networking
properties are used to register GIDs required by RDMA applications to
communicate.
These patches add support and the all required infrastructure for
letting applications use such a device. We support the mandatory Verbs API as
well as the base memory management extensions (Local Inv, Send with Inv and
Fast Register Work Requests). We currently support both Reliable Connected
and Unreliable Datagram QPs but do not support Shared Receive Queues
(SRQs).
Also, we support the following types of Work Requests:
o Send/Receive (with or without Immediate Data)
o RDMA Write (with or without Immediate Data)
o RDMA Read
o Local Invalidate
o Send with Invalidate
o Fast Register Work Requests
This version only adds support for version 1 of RoCE. We will add RoCEv2
support in a future patch. We do support registration of both MAC-based
and IP-based GIDs. I have also created a git tree for our user-level driver
[2].
Testing
=======
We have tested this internally for various types of Guest OS - Red Hat,
Centos, Ubuntu 12.04/14.04/16.04, Oracle Enterprise Linux, SLES 12
using backported versions of this driver. The tests included several
runs of the performance tests (included with OFED), Intel MPI PingPong
benchmark on OpenMPI, krping for FRWRs. Mellanox has been kind enough
to test the backported version of the driver internally on their hardware
using a VMware provided ESX build. I have also applied and tested this
with Doug's k.o/for-4.9 branch (commit 5603910b). Note, that this patch
series should be applied all together. I split out the commits so that
it may be easier to review.

Soft RoCE (RXE) - The software RoCE driver
ib_rxe implements the RDMA transport and registers to the RDMA core
device as a kernel verbs provider. It also implements the packet IO
layer. On the other hand ib_rxe registers to the Linux netdev stack
as a udp encapsulating protocol, in that case RDMA, for sending and
receiving packets over any Ethernet device. This yields a RDMA
transport over the UDP/Ethernet network layer forming a RoCEv2
compatible device.
The configuration procedure of the Soft RoCE drivers requires
binding to any existing Ethernet network device. This is done with
/sys interface.
A userspace Soft RoCE library (librxe) provides user applications
the ability to run with Soft RoCE devices. The use of rxe verbs ins
user space requires the inclusion of librxe as a device specifics
plug-in to libibverbs. librxe is packaged separately.

The driver pads non-double word multiple message sizes but it doesn't
account for this padding when the packet length is calculated. Also, the
data length is miscalculated for message sizes less than 4 bytes due to
the bit representation in LRH. And there's a check for non-double word
multiple message sizes that prevents these messages from being sent.
This patch fixes length miscalculations and enables the functionality to
send non-double word multiple message sizes.

hfi1 current exports a cdev that can be used to target all of the hfi's
in the system. However there is a problem with this approach in
that the devices could be on different subnets. This is a problem that
user space can figure out and explicitly tell the driver on which device
to create a context.
Remove the multi-purpose cdev leaving a dedicated cdev for each port.
Also remove the striping capability that is dependent upon the user
choosing the multi-purpose cdev. It is now up to user space to determine
how to stripe contexts.

- IP to GID resolution.
The client request would include the ifindex of the outgoing interface

the destnation IP.
The local service would answer with a message that has the attribute:

This commit "flips the switch" on the TID caching feature
implemented in this patch series.
As well as enabling the new feature by tying the new function
with the PSM API, it also cleans up the old unneeded code,
data structure members, and variables.
Due to difference in operation and information, the tracing
functions related to expected receives had to be changed. This
patch include these changes.
The tracing function changes could not be split into a separate
commit without including both tracing variants at the same time.
This would have caused other complications and ugliness.

In order to expose timestamp we need to expose two new attributes in
query_device to be used for CQ completion time-stamping:
timestamp_mask - how many bits are valid in the timestamp, where timestamp
values could be 64bits the most.
hca_core_clock - timestamp is given in HW cycles, the frequency in KHZ units
of the HCA, necessary in order to convert cycles to seconds.
This is added both to ib_query_device and its respective uverbs counterpart.

Add on-demand paging capabilities reporting to the extended query device verb.
Yann Droneaud writes:
Note: as offsetof() is used to retrieve the size of the lower chunk
of the response, beware that it only works if the upper chunk
is right after, without any implicit padding. And, as the size of
the latter chunk is added to the base size, implicit padding at the
end of the structure is not taken in account. Both point must be

Add extensible query device capabilities verb to allow adding new features.
ib_uverbs_ex_query_device is added and copy_query_dev_fields is used to copy
capability fields to be used by both ib_uverbs_query_device and
ib_uverbs_ex_query_device.
Following the discussion about this patch [1], the code now validates
the command's comp_mask is zero, returning -EINVAL for unknown values,
in order to allow extending the verb in the future.
The verb also checks the user-space provided response buffer size and
only fills in capabilities that will fit in the buffer. In attempt to
follow the spirit of presentation [2] by Tzahi Oved that was presented
during OpenFabrics Alliance International Developer Workshop 2013, the
comp_mask bits will only describe which fields are valid. Furthermore,
fields that can simply be cleared when they are not supported, do not
require a comp_mask bit at all. The verb returns a response_length
field containing the actual number of bytes written by the kernel, so
that a newer version running on an older kernel can tell which fields
were actually returned.

While commit 7e36ef8205 ("IB/core: Temporarily disable
ex_query_device uverb") is correct as it makes the extended
QUERY_DEVICE uverb (which came as part of commit 5a77abf9a9
("IB/core: Add support for extended query device caps") and commit
860f10a799 ("IB/core: Add flags for on demand paging support")) not
available to userspace, it doesn't address the initial issue regarding
ib_copy_to_udata() [1][2].
Additionally, further discussions around this new uverb seems to
conclude it would require a different data structure than the one
currently described in <rdma/ib_user_verbs.h> [3].
Both of these issues require a revert of the changes, so this patch
partially reverts commit 8cdd312cfe ("IB/mlx5: Implement the ODP
capability query verb") and commit 860f10a799 ("IB/core: Add flags
for on demand paging support") and fully reverts commit 5a77abf9a9
("IB/core: Add support for extended query device caps").
