Antti Palosaari 40eca140c4 [media] mn88473: add DVB-T2 PLP support
Adds PLP ID filtering for DVB-T2.

It is untested as I don't have any signal having PLP ID other than 0.
There is only 2 extra registers, 0x32 and 0x36 on bank2, that are
programmed for DVB-T2 but not for DVB-T and all the rest are
programmed similarly - so it is likely PLP.

Pridvorov reported successfully testing it in Russia with m-PLP streams,
on both Vladivostok and Moskow.

Joerg Riechardt 386701892b [media] stv090x: use lookup tables for carrier/noise ratio
The stv090x driver uses the lookup table for signal strength already,
with this patch we use the lookup tables for carrier/noise ratio as well.
This has the advantage, that values for DVB-S and DVB-S2 are now
corresponding, while before they were way off. The values are now
proportional to real carrier/noise ratio, while before they were
corresponding to register values. So now applications are able to give
the user real carrier/noise ratio.

Because the output has to be within 0x0000...0xFFFF the three negative
values for DVB-S2 are omitted. This is no significant loss, because
reception is lost at 7.5 dB already (TT S2-1600, Cine S2), so the
negative values are not really important, and also for DVB-S they don´t
exist.

Antti Palosaari 69ace6ee3e [media] mn88473: refactor and fix statistics
Remove DVB-T2 BER as it does not work at all and I didn't find
how to fix.

Fix DVB-T and DVB-C BER. It seems to return new some realistic
looking values.

Use (1 << 24) base for CNR calculations to keep it in line with
dvb logarithm functions.

Move all statistic logic to mn88473_read_status() function.

Use regmap_bulk_read() for reading multiple registers as a one go.

Many more and less minor changes.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab f2709c206d Revert "[media] dvb_frontend: merge duplicate dvb_tuner_ops.release implementations"
While this patch sounded a good idea, unfortunately, it causes
bad dependencies, as drivers that would otherwise work without
the DVB core will now break:

ERROR: "dvb_tuner_simple_release" [drivers/media/tuners/tea5767.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "dvb_tuner_simple_release" [drivers/media/tuners/tea5761.ko] undefined!

ERROR: "dvb_tuner_simple_release" [drivers/media/tuners/fc0011.ko] undefined!

So, we have to revert it.

Note: as the argument for the release ops changed from "int"
to "void", we needed to change it at the revert patch, to
avoid compilation issues like:
	drivers/media/tuners/tea5767.c:437:23: error: initialization from incompatible pointer type [-Werror=incompatible-pointer-types]
	  .release           = tea5767_release,

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 4bd69e7b9c [media] dvb-frontends: don't break long lines
Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch
warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This
is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder
to grep for strings at the source code.

As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need
to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n".
It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines.

So, join those continuation lines.

The patch was generated via the script below, and manually
adjusted if needed.

Kernel source files need not include <linux/kconfig.h> explicitly
because the top Makefile forces to include it with:

This commit removes explicit includes except the following:

  * tools/testing/radix-tree/linux/kernel.h

These two are used for host programs.

But the dvb-core ignores the return value of init will call tune

This will trigger a division by zero when tuning.
At least check for the variables to be non-zero before dividing.

This happened for a system with WinTV HVR-4400 PCIe-card after suspend-to-disk.
Do suspend-to-disk without accessing the DVB device before.
After wakeup try to tune.

That's likely because, when this driver was written, Brazil

On this frontend, it takes a while to start output normal
TS data. That only happens on state S9. On S8, the TS output
is enabled, but it is not reliable enough.

However, the zigzag loop is too fast to let it sync.

As, on practical tests, the zigzag software loop doesn't
seem to be helping, but just slowing down the tuning, let's
switch to hardware algorithm, as the tuners used on such
devices are capable of work with frequency drifts without
any help from software.

Arnd Bergmann bb9bd87808 drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cxd2841er.c: avoid misleading gcc warning
The addition of jump label support in dynamic_debug caused an unexpected
warning in exactly one file in the kernel:

  drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cxd2841er.c: In function 'cxd2841er_tune_tc':
  include/linux/dynamic_debug.h:134:3: error: 'carrier_offset' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]

     ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cxd2841er.c:3177:11: note: 'carrier_offset' was declared here
    int ret, carrier_offset;
             ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The problem seems to be that the compiler gets confused by the extra
conditionals in static_branch_unlikely, to the point where it can no
longer keep track of which branches have already been taken, and it
doesn't realize that this variable is now always initialized when it
gets used.

I have done lots of randconfig kernel builds and could not find any
other file with this behavior, so I assume it's a rare enough glitch
that we don't need to change the jump label support but instead just
work around the warning in the driver.

To achieve that, I'm moving the check for the return value into the
switch() statement, which is an obvious transformation, but is enough to
un-confuse the compiler here. The resulting code is not as nice to
read, but at least we retain the behavior of warning if it gets changed
to actually access an uninitialized carrier offset value in the future.

Saso Slavicic cd82982179 [media] ascot2e: Fix I2C message size check
Tuning a card with Sony ASCOT2E produces the following error:

	kernel: i2c i2c-9: wr reg=0006: len=11 is too big!

MAX_WRITE_REGSIZE is defined as 10, buf[MAX_WRITE_REGSIZE + 1] buffer is
used in ascot2e_write_regs().

The problem is that exactly 10 bytes are written in ascot2e_set_params():

	/* Set BW_OFFSET (0x0F) value from parameter table */
	data[9] = ascot2e_sett[tv_system].bw_offset;
	ascot2e_write_regs(priv, 0x06, data, 10);

The test in write_regs is as follows:

	if (len + 1 >= sizeof(buf))

10 + 1 = 11 and that would be exactly the size of buf. Since 10 bytes +
buf[0] = reg would seem to fit into buf[], this shouldn't be an error.

The current code will expose a zero value if one of the stats is
not available, but this is not what userspace expects. Instead,
if something goes wrong on providing some stats, it should be
changing the scale to FE_SCALE_NOT_AVAILABLE.

So, change the logic to do the right thing.

The signal strength value is reversed: the bigger the number,
the weaker is the signal.

Fix the logic and present it in dBm. Please notice that the
dBm measure is actually an estimation, as the ratio is not
fully linear. It also varies with the frequency.

Yet, the estimation should be good enough for programs like
Kaffeine to indicate when the signal is good or bad.

It is a good idea to measure the signal strength while
tuning, as this helps to identify if the antenna is ok.
Also, such measure helps to identify the quality of the
signal.

Do some changes to enable it before signal lock. While
here, optimize the code to only initialize the stats
length once, and make sure that, just after set_frontend,
any reading for the stats that depends on lock to return
FE_SCALE_NOT_AVAILABLE.

Linus Torvalds 78975f23cb Merge branch 'i2c/for-4.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux
Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang:

 - Peter Rosin did some major rework on the locking of i2c muxes by
   seperating parent-locked muxes and mux-locked muxes.

   This avoids deadlocks/workarounds when the mux itself needs i2c
   commands for muxing. And as a side-effect, other workarounds in the
   media layer could be eliminated. Also, Peter stepped up as the i2c
   mux maintainer and will keep an eye on these changes.

 - major updates to the octeon driver

 - add a helper to the core to generate the address+rw_bit octal and
   make drivers use it

 - quite a bunch of driver updates

The root i2c adapter lock is then no longer held by the i2c mux during
accesses behind the i2c gate, and such accesses need to take that lock
just like any other ordinary i2c accesses do.

So, declare the i2c gate mux-locked, and zap the regmap overrides
that makes the i2c accesses unlocked and use plain old regmap
accesses. This also removes the need for the regmap wrappers used by
rtl2832_sdr, so deconvolute the code further and provide the regmap
handle directly instead of the wrapper functions.

Instead of using the DTV properties cache directly, pass the get
frontend data as an argument. For now, everything should remain
the same, but the next patch will prevent get_frontend to
affect the global cache.

This is needed because several drivers don't care enough to only
change the properties if locked. Due to that, calling
G_PROPERTY before locking on those drivers will make them to
never lock. Ok, those drivers are crap and should never be
merged like that, but the core should not rely that the drivers
would be doing the right thing.

Linus Torvalds 58cf279aca GPIO bulk updates for the v4.5 kernel cycle:
Infrastructural changes:

 - In struct gpio_chip, rename the .dev node to .parent to better reflect
   the fact that this is not the GPIO struct device abstraction. We will
   add that soon so this would be totallt confusing.

 - It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was
   sometimes reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting
   them to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value()
   calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers
   returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than zero"
   to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit 31 set to
   indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error codes. This is
   fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all drivers with
   !!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to propagate error codes
   to consumers. (Includes some ACKed patches in other subsystems.)

 - Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of() design
   pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the struct gpio_chip
   to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep states internal to
   the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state when adding a proper
   userspace ABI (character device) further down the road. To achieve this,
   drivers need a handle at the internal state that is not dependent on
   their struct gpio_chip() so we add gpiochip_add_data() and
   gpiochip_get_data() following the pattern of many other subsystems.
   All the "use gpiochip data pointer" patches transforms drivers to this
   scheme.

 - The Generic GPIO chip header has been merged into the general

Merge tag 'gpio-v4.5-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio

Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
 "Here is the bulk of GPIO changes for v4.5.

  Notably there are big refactorings mostly by myself, aimed at getting
  the gpio_chip into a shape that makes me believe I can proceed to
  preserve state for a proper userspace ABI (character device) that has
  already been proposed once, but resulted in the feedback that I need
  to go back and restructure stuff. So I've been restructuring stuff.
  On the way I ran into brokenness (return code from the get_value()
  callback) and had to fix it. Also, refactored generic GPIO to be
  simpler.

  Some of that is still waiting to trickle down from the subsystems all
  over the kernel that provide random gpio_chips, I've touched every
  single GPIO driver in the kernel now, oh man I didn't know I was
  responsible for so much...

  Apart from that we're churning along as usual.

  I took some effort to test and retest so it should merge nicely and we
  shook out a couple of bugs in -next.

  Infrastructural changes:

   - In struct gpio_chip, rename the .dev node to .parent to better
     reflect the fact that this is not the GPIO struct device
     abstraction. We will add that soon so this would be totallt
     confusing.

   - It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was sometimes
     reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting them
     to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value()
     calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers
     returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than
     zero" to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit
     31 set to indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error
     codes. This is fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all
     drivers with !!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to
     propagate error codes to consumers. (Includes some ACKed patches
     in other subsystems.)

   - Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of()
     design pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the
     struct gpio_chip to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep
     states internal to the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state
     when adding a proper userspace ABI (character device) further down
     the road. To achieve this, drivers need a handle at the internal
     state that is not dependent on their struct gpio_chip() so we add
     gpiochip_add_data() and gpiochip_get_data() following the pattern
     of many other subsystems. All the "use gpiochip data pointer"
     patches transforms drivers to this scheme.

   - The Generic GPIO chip header has been merged into the general
     <linux/gpio/driver.h> header, and the custom header for that
     removed. Instead of having a separate mm_gpio_chip struct for
     these generic drivers, merge that into struct gpio_chip,
     simplifying the code and removing the need for separate and
     confusing includes.

  Misc improvements:

   - Stabilize the way GPIOs are looked up from the ACPI legacy
     specification.

   - Incremental driver features for PXA, PCA953X, Lantiq (patches from
     the OpenWRT community), RCAR, Zynq, PL061, 104-idi-48

  New drivers:

   - Add a GPIO chip to the ALSA SoC AC97 driver.

   - Add a new Broadcom NSP SoC driver (this lands in the pinctrl dir,
     but the branch is merged here too to account for infrastructural
     changes).

   - The sx150x driver now supports the sx1502"

Mauro Carvalho Chehab ab22e77cd3 [media] media framework: rename pads init function to media_entity_pads_init()
With the MC next gen rework, what's left for media_entity_init()
is to just initialize the PADs. However, certain devices, like
a FLASH led/light doesn't have any input or output PAD.

So, there's no reason why calling media_entity_init() would be
mandatory. Also, despite its name, what this function actually
does is to initialize the PADs data. So, rename it to
media_entity_pads_init() in order to reflect that.

The media entity actual init happens during entity register,
at media_device_register_entity(). We should move init of
num_links and num_backlinks to it.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 0e576b76f5 [media] media-entity.h: rename entity.type to entity.function
Entities should have one or more functions. Calling it as a
type proofed to not be correct, as an entity could eventually
have more than one type.

So, rename the field as function.

Please notice that this patch doesn't extend support for
multiple function entities. Such change will happen when
we have real case drivers using it.

No functional changes.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1809510715 [media] media: get rid of unused "extra_links" param on media_entity_init()
Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links,
allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links)
that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this
is not used by any driver.

As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal,
we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So,
before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused
parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first.

	763				kfree(state);
	764			return -ENOMEM;
	765		}

Shows that the error path is not being handled properly.

The are actually several issues here:

1) config free should have been calling hybrid_tuner_release_state()
function, by calling au8522_release_state();

2) config is only allocated at the digital part. On the analog one,
it is received from the caller.

A complex logic could be added to address it, however, it is simpler
to just embeed config inside the state.

Hans Verkuil df9ecb0cad [media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setup
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2
and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to
VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information
from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format.

After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer,
which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will
effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format.

To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed:
the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument
is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then
it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array
contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return
-EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s).

Linus Walleij 58383c7842 gpio: change member .dev to .parent
The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device
that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct.
struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev
to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that
represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices,
this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent.

This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to
combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like
this:

@@
struct gpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->dev
+var->parent

and:

@@
struct gpio_chip var;
@@
-var.dev
+var.parent

and:

@@
struct bgpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->gc.dev
+var->gc.parent

Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how
to teach Coccinelle to rewrite.

This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this
solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch
mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and
drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 65f0f686de [media] stb6100: get rid of get_state()/set_state()
It is tricky to get rid of those ops here, as the stv0299 driver
wants to set frequency in separate from setting the bandwidth.

So, we use a small trick: we temporarely fill the cache with
0 for either frequency or bandwidth and add some logic at
set_params to only change the property(ies) that aren't zero.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab b2d3afcfbd [media] tda6655: get rid of get_state()/set_state()
Those ops aren't used by any driver, with is weird. I suspect
that mantis_vb3030 driver were not working properly...

Anyway, now that the driver uses the set_parms, the DVB
frontend core should do the right thing.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab e417668d40 [media] tda8261: don't use set_state/get_state callbacks
Those callbacks are meant to be used only on some very specific
cases. There's absolutely no need to do that at tda8261, as
the only parameter that it allows to be set/get is the frequency.

So, use the standard get_params() and get_frequency() kABI
ops.

There's no need to touch at any bridge driver, as all interactions
are done via the macros at tda8261_cfg.h.

On tda665x, set_state only sets frequency. As the kABI for set_state
is meant to be used only on special cases, split the function
into two, in order to allow it to be latter used by a DVBv5
cache params logic.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab cffdbfe7cf [media] stb6100: get rid of tuner_state at struct stb6100_state
The stb6100 driver has a struct tuner_state on its state
struct, that it is used only to store the bandwidth. Even so,
this struct is not really used, as every time the bandwidth
is get or set, it goes through the hardware.

So, get rid of that.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 2184e2530c [media] dvb_frontend.h: get rid of unused tuner params/states
There are several tuner_param values that aren't by any driver or core:
	DVBFE_TUNER_TUNERSTEP
	DVBFE_TUNER_IFFREQ
	DVBFE_TUNER_REFCLOCK
	DVBFE_TUNER_IQSENSE
	DVBFE_TUNER_DUMMY

Several of those correspond to the values at the tuner_state
struct with is also only initialized by not used anyware:
	u32 tunerstep;
	u32 ifreq;
	u32 refclock;

It doesn't make sense to keep anything at the kABI that it is
not used. So, get rid of them.
