When transmitting a packet via a mac802154 driver that can sleep in
its transmit function, mac802154 defers the call to the driver's
transmit function to a per-device workqueue.
However, mac802154 uses a single global work_struct for this, which
means that if you have more than one registered mac802154 interface
in the system, and you transmit on more than one of them at the same
time, you'll very easily cause memory corruption.
This patch moves the deferred transmit processing state from global
variables to struct ieee802154_local, and this seems to fix the memory
corruption issue.

in kernel. So lets remove EXPORT_SYMBOL() for this.

This patch introduces suspend and resume callbacks to mac802154. When
doing suspend we calling the stop driver callback which should stop the
receiving of frames. A transceiver should go into low-power mode then.
Calling resume will call the start driver callback, which starts receiving
again and allow to transmit frames.
This was tested only with the fakelb driver and a qemu vm by doing the
following commands:
echo "devices" > /sys/power/pm_test
echo "freeze" > /sys/power/state
while doing some high traffic between two fakelb phys.

This patch adds a workaround for using the new nl802154 netlink
interface with the old ieee802154 netlink interface togehter. The
nl802154 currently supports no access for llsec layer, currently there
are users outside which are using both interfaces at the same time. This
patch adds a necessary call when addresses are updated.

This patch moves the hardware setting before calling the driver start
callback which activates the receive handling. The hardware setup
contains settings like address filtering which should be setup before
activate the receive handling on the transceiver. These setting are
protected by ieee802154_check_concurrent_iface check. This means we
need to set these registers once before calling drv_start and can't
be overwritten by other interfaces.

This patch flushs the workqueue which is currently used for xmit_sync
callback before calling stop driver-ops. Flush the queue will ensure all
pending tx frames are transmitted.

The interframe spacing timer is a per phy definition and is part of a
ieee802154_local structure. If we have possible multiple interfaces
ifdown one interface then the timer should not be cancled. First if the
last interface is down and the receive handling is stopped we should be
sure that the interframe spacing timer isn't run anymore.

This call was used before we aligned our code with the wireless code base. We
are wanted to handle this in the err: code path. Which would actually not work
because the WARN_ON() macro would reset the res value to 0 and thus we would
never hit err:. Removing it makes the code do what we actually intend.

This patch removes the virtual interface structure from sub if data
struct, because it isn't used anywhere. This structure could be useful
for give per interface information at softmac driver layer. Nevertheless
there exist no use case currently and it contains the interface type
information currently. This information is also stored inside wpan dev
which is now used to check on the wpan dev interface type.

mac802154_mlme_start_req() calls
ieee802154_mlme_ops(dev)->llsec->set_params() on the net_device
passed into it, however, this net_device will always be a mac802154
net_device, so just call mac802154_set_params() directly instead.

->ndo_do_ioctl() can be entered with the rtnl lock already held,
for example when sending a wext ioctl to a device (in which case
the rtnl lock is taken by wext_ioctl_dispatch()), but
mac802154_wpan_ioctl() currently unconditionally takes the rtnl
lock on entry, which can cause deadlocks.
To fix this, bail out of mac802154_wpan_ioctl() before taking the
rtnl lock if the ioctl cmd is not one of the cmds we implement.

This patch removes the mib lock. The new locking mechanism is to protect
the mib values with the rtnl lock. Note that this isn't always necessary
if we have an interface up the most mib values are readonly (e.g.
address settings). With this behaviour we can remove locking in
hotpath like frame parsing completely. It depends on context if we need
to hold the rtnl lock or not, this makes the callbacks of
ieee802154_mlme_ops unnecessary because these callbacks hols always the
locks.

This patch will use atomic operations for sequence number incrementation
while MAC header generation. Upper layers like af_802154 or 6LoWPAN
could call this function in a parallel context while generating 802.15.4
MAC header before queuing into wpan interfaces transmit queue.

Accessing the mib requires rtnl lock and the ndo_do_ioctl doesn't hold
the rtnl lock while this callback is called. This patch do that

The mac802154 subsystem uses functions from the crypto layer and correctly
selects the individual crypto algorithms, but fails to build when the
crypto layer is disabled altogether:

This patch introduce a flag property for the wpan phy structure.
The current flag settings in ieee802154_hw are accessable in mac802154
layer only which is okay for flags which indicates MAC handling which
are done by phy. For real PHY layer settings like cca mode, transmit
power, cca energy detection level.
The difference between these flags are that the MAC handling flags are
only handled in mac802154/HardMac layer e.g. on an interface up. The phy
settings are direct netlink calls from nl802154 into the driver layer
and the nl802154 need to have a chance to check if the driver supports
this handling before sending to the next layer.
We also check now on PHY flags while dumping and setting pib attributes.
In comparing with MIB attributes the 802.15.4 gives us an default value
which we assume when a transceiver implement less functionality. In case
of MIB settings the nl802154 layer doesn't need to check on the
ieee802154_hw flags then.

This patch adds support for phy supported handling for all other already
existing handling 802.15.4 functionality. We assume now a fully 802.15.4
complaint transceiver at phy allocation. If a transceiver can support
802.15.4 default values only, then the values should be overwirtten by
values the transceiver supports. If the transceiver doesn't set the
according hardware flags, we assume the 802.15.4 defaults now which
cannot be changed.

This patch change the transmit power from s8 to s32. This prepares to store a
mbm value instead dbm inside the transmit power variable. The old
interface keep the a s8 dbm value, which should be backward compatibility
when assign s8 to s32.

All users of AEAD should include crypto/aead.h instead of
include/linux/crypto.h.
This patch also removes a bogus inclusion of algapi.h which should
only be used by algorithm/driver implementors and not crypto users.
Instead linux/crypto.h is added which is necessary because mac802154
also uses blkcipher in addition to aead.

This patch fix the max sifs size correction when the
IEEE802154_HW_TX_OMIT_CKSUM flag is set. With this flag the sk_buff
doesn't contain the CRC, because the transceiver will add the CRC
while transmit.
Also add some defines for the max sifs frame size value and frame check
sequence according to 802.15.4 standard.

interface up. This avoids to have different mac parameters on one phy.

The current cca setting handle is a driver specific call. We need to
introduce some 802.15.4 specific layer and mapping 802.15.4 cca modes to
driver specific ones inside the 802.15.4 driver. This patch will add
such 802.15.4 layer and mapping the cca settings to driver specific ones.

This patch adds support for setting an extended address while
registration a new interface. If ieee802154_is_valid_extended_addr
getting as parameter and invalid extended address then the perm address
is fallback. This is useful to make some default handling while for
example default registration of a wpan interface while phy registration.

This parameter was grabbed from wireless implementation with the
identically wireless dev struct. We don't need this right now and so we
remove it. Maybe we will add it later again if we found any real reason

This patch replace the depracted IEEE802154_DEV to the new introduced
NL802154_IFTYPE_NODE types. There is a backwards compatibility to have
the identical types for both enum definitions. Also remove some inlcude
issue with "linux/nl802154.h", because the export nl_policy inside this
header it was always necessary to have an include of "net/rtnetlink.h"
before. The reason for this is more complicated. Nevertheless we removed
this now, because "linux/nl802154.h" is the depracted netlink interface.

This patch adds a new interframe spacing time handling into mac802154
layer. Interframe spacing time is a time period between each transmit.
This patch adds a high resolution timer into mac802154 and starts on
xmit complete with corresponding interframe spacing expire time if
ifs_handling is true. We make it variable because it depends if
interframe spacing time is handled by transceiver or mac802154. At the
timer complete function we wake the netdev queue again. This avoids
new frame transmit in range of interframe spacing time.
For synced driver we add no handling of interframe spacing time. This
is currently a lack of support in all synced xmit drivers. I suppose
it's working because the latency of workqueue which is needed to call
spi_sync.

This patch adds support for setting short address via nl802154 framework.
Also added a comment because a 0xffff seems to be valid address that we
don't have a short address. This is a valid setting but we need
more checks in upper layers to don't allow this address as source address.
Also the current netlink interface doesn't allow to set the short_addr
to 0xffff. Same for the 0xfffe short address which describes a not
allocated short address.

This patch adds support for setting pan_id via nl802154 framework.
Adding a comment because setting 0xffff as pan_id seems to be valid
setting. The pan_id 0xffff as source pan is invalid. I am not sure now
about this setting but for the current netlink interface this is an
invalid setting, so we do the same now. Maybe we need to change that
when we have coordinator support and association support.

This patch removes the setting of dev_addr on a monitor device. This
address should be zero. A monitor should only sniff and send raw frames
out. The address should be never used by upper layers and receiving
frame parsing.

This patch moves all mac pib attributes into the wpan_dev struct.
Furthermore we can easier access these attributes over the netdev
802154_ptr pointer. Currently this is only possible over a complicated
callback structure in mac802154 because subif data structure is

This patch adding support for a perm extended address. This is useful
when a device supports an eeprom with a programmed static extended address.
If a device doesn't support such eeprom or serial registers then the
driver should generate a random extended address.

This patch meld mac802154_netdev_register into ieee802154_if_add
function. Also we have now only one alloc_netdev call with one interface
setup routine "ieee802154_if_setup" instead two different one for each
interface type. This patch checks via runtime the interface type and do
different handling now. Additional we add the wpan_dev struct in
ieee802154_sub_if_data and set the new ieee802154_ptr while netdev
registration. This behaviour is very similar the mac80211 netdev
registration functionality.

All PHY attributes should be directly set to the transceiver after netlink.
MAC attributes should be set by interface up. Currently the macparams
netlink cmd contains mixed attributes of phy and mac settings. This patch
moves all phy settings to the netlink receive function for setting macparams.
This is the only way which doesn't change the userspace API and keep the
deprecated netlink interface alive.

inside of interface up instead doing it it directly inside of netlink
interface. The netlink call which can only be called when netif isn't
running sets only the necessary panid value in sdata. After an
interface up the address filter will be set with this value.

This patch removes the wpan_phy callbacks for add and del an interface
on a phy. Instead we introduce deprecated cfg802154 callbacks for this.
Furthermore we introduce a new netlink interface nl802154 which use
different callbacks. The deprecated function is to have a backwards
compatibility with the current netlink interface.

This patch change the actual crc handling while receive. Currently the
IEEE802154_HW_RX_OMIT_CKSUM flag is used to filter a frame with a bad crc.
This patch changes the behaviour of IEEE802154_HW_RX_OMIT_CKSUM to add a
crc while receiving for the monitor interface. After monitor receiving
we remove the crc for frame parsing. This affect the driver layer
because all drivers sets IEEE802154_HW_RX_OMIT_CKSUM and deliver without
checksum.

This patch splits the IEEE802154_HW_OMIT_CKSUM hardware flag into
IEEE802154_HW_TX_OMIT_CKSUM and IEEE802154_HW_RX_OMIT_CKSUM. This is
useful to deliver the received crc from the driver layer to the monitor
interface. At the moment we can't do that without change the xmit
handling.
The received checksum should be visible in monitor mode only.

This patch removes the current handling of started boolean. This is
actually dead code, because mac802154_netdev_register can't never be
called before ieee802154_register_hw. This means that local->started is
always be true when mac802154_netdev_register is called. Instead we
using this now like mac80211 to indicate that an instance of sdata is
running.

This patch introduce a driver-ops header file with function wrappers to
call the driver ops. These wrappers checking on right context
information and warn if optional driver ops are called when these aren't
implemented. This behaviour is like mac80211 driver-ops header file,

This patch adds a PACKET_OTHERHOST setting when a monitor interface
receives a skb. All receiving skb's to the monitor interface should
be PACKET_OTHERHOST.

This patch adds CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY to skb->ip_summed before delivery.
There exist no transceiver with IP checksum functionality.

This patch removes the mac802154_subif_rx function and do the necessary
calls inside of ieee802154_rx function. The ieee802154_rx is small
enough to move the functionality inside this function.

This removes the call of monitor receive funktion when any interface
type call xmit. There exist no such use case that a monitor interface
should receive the actual sending frame. One use case could be that a
wpan interface and monitor interface could be running at the same time
on one phy. Then the monitor interface receives the wpan frames also.
Furthermore we adding support for promiscous mode setting. With
promiscous mode setting we can't run a wpan and monitor interface at the
same time.

This patch removes all relevant receiving functions inclusive frame
parsing into rx file. Like mac80211 we should implement the complete
receive handling and parsing in this file.

netif_receive_skb call requires with softirqs disabled. This patch
adds a warning if softirqs are pending while calling ieee802154_rx.

Tasklets have much less overhead than workqueues. This patch also
removes the heap allocation for the worker on receiving path.
Like mac80211 we should prefer use a tasklet here instead a workqueue to
getting fast out of interrupt context when ieee802154_rx_irqsafe is
called by driver. Like wireless inside the tasklet context we should
call netif_receive_skb instead netif_rx_ni anymore.

This patch replaces the memcpy with a put_unaligned_le16. The placement
of crc inside of PSDU can also be unaligned. With memcpy this can fail
on some architectures.

This patch moves the worker information struct out of skb control block.
Instead control block we declare it static inside of tx.c file. We can do
that, because the worker can't be used twice at the same time. It's
protected by stop and wake netdev queue.
This patch fix an issue that the "struct ieee802154_xmit_cb" doesn't fit
into the skb control block on some kernel configuartion reported by
kbuild test robot.
It was introduced by commit fe24371d66
("mac802154: tx: remove kmalloc in xmit hotpath").
