The lookup of CPU and CODEC DAIs is fairly similar and can easily be
consolidated into a single helper function.
There are two main differences in the current implementation of the CPU and
CODEC DAI lookup:
1) CPU DAIs can be looked up by the DAI name alone and do not necessarily
require a component name/of_node.
2) The CODEC DAI search only considers DAIs from CODEC components.
For 1) the new helper function will allow to lookup DAIs without providing a
component name or of_node, but since snd_soc_register_card() already rejects
CODEC DAI link components without neither a of_node or a name we'll never get
into the situation where we try to lookup a CODEC DAI without a name/of_node.
For 2) the new helper function just always considers all components.
Componentization is now at a point where it is possible to register a CODEC as a
snd_soc_component rather than a snd_soc_codec, by considering DAIs from all
components it is possible to use such a CODEC in a DAI link.

CPU and CODEC DAI works exactly the same way. There is already a helper function

Currently when a DAI has no CODEC associated to it the reference on the module
containing the DAI driver is increased when the DAI is probed and decrease when
the DAI is removed. For DAIs with CODECs the module reference count was already
incremented when the CODEC is probed. Now that all components have their module
reference count incremented when they are probed and all DAIs do have a
component it is possible to remove the module reference counting on DAI probe
and removal.

Having the check in a centralized place makes the code a bit cleaner and
shorter.
Note: There is a slight semantic change in this patch. soc_probe_aux_dev() will
no longer return -EBUSY if the AUX dev has already been probed before. This is
fine though since it will simply do nothing in that case and return success.

Given that the component is the containing structure it makes more sense to pass
the component rather than the DAPM context to the AUX dev init callback.

This patch makes it possible to register arbitrary components as a AUX dev
for a card. This was previously only possible for CODEC components. With
componentization having made it possible for components to have DAPM contexts
and controls there is no reason why AUX devs should be artificially limited to
snd_soc_codec devices.

Now that we have a unified probe and remove path make sure to call them for all
components. soc_{probe,remove}_component are responsible for setting up the DAPM
context for the component, initialize the component prefix, manage the debugfs
entries as well as do the registration of table based controls and DAPM
elements. They also call the component drivers probe and remove callbacks. This
patch makes these things available for generic snd_soc_component drivers rather
than only having them for snd_soc_codec and snd_soc_platform drivers.

There are some place in the ASoC core that expect rtd->codec to be non NULL
(mainly CODEC specific sysfs files). With componentization going forward
rtd->codec might be NULL in some cases. This patch prepares the core for this by
not registering CODEC specific sysfs files if rtd->codec is NULL. sysfs file
removal does not need to be conditionalized as it handles the removal of
non-existing files just fine.
Signed-off-by: Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de>
Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@linaro.org>
The platform and CODEC probe and remove code is now largely identical. This
patch consolidates it at the component level.
The resulting code is slightly larger due to all the boiler plate code setting
up the indirection for the table based control and DAPM registration. Once all
drivers have been update to no longer use the snd_soc_codec_driver and
snd_soc_platform_driver specific fields for this the indirection can be removed
again.
This patch contains two noteworthy hacks that are only meant to be temporary to
be able to update drivers and the core in separate incremental patches.
The first hack is related to that some DPCM platforms expect that the DAPM
widgets for the DAIs of a snd_soc_component are created in the DAPM context of
the snd_soc_platform that has the same parent device. For handling this the
steal_sibling_dai_widgets attribute is introduced. It gets set for
snd_soc_platforms that register DAPM elements. When creating the DAI widgets for
a component this flag is checked and if it is found on one of the siblings the
component will not create any DAI widgets in its own DAPM context. If the
attribute is set on a platform it will look for siblings components and create
DAI widgets for them in its own context. The fix for this will be to update
the offending drivers to only register a single component rather than two.
The second hack deals with the fact that the ASoC card suspend and resume code
still needs a list of CODECs that have been registered for the card. To handle
this the generic probe and remove path have a check to see if the component is
CODEC and if yes add/remove it to the card's CODEC list. While it is possible to
clean up the suspend/resume code to not need the CODEC list anymore this is a
bit of a chicken and egg problem since it will become easier to clean up the
suspend/resume code once there is a unified component layer.

Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@linaro.org>
The debugfs registration is mostly identical between platforms and CODECs. This
patches consolidates the two implementations at the component level.
Unfortunately there are still a couple of CODEC specific debugfs files that are
related to legacy ASoC IO that need to be registered. For this a new callback is
added to the component struct that will be initialized when a CODEC is
registered and will be used to register the CODEC specific files. Once there are
no drivers left using legacy IO this can be removed again.

On some HP laptops, the mute led is controlled by codec gpio.
When some machine resume from s3/s4, the codec gpio data will be
cleared to 0 by BIOS:
Before suspend:
IO[3]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=1, unsol=0
After resume:
IO[3]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0
To skip the AFG node to enter D3 can't fix this problem.
A workaround is to restore the gpio data when the system resume
back from s3/s4. It is safe even on the machines without this
problem.

There is one design rule according to SAI's reference manual:
If the transmitter bit clock and frame sync are to be used by both transmitter
and receiver, the transmitter must be configured for asynchronous operation
and the receiver for synchronous operation.
And SYNC of TCR2 is a 2-width control bit:
00 Asynchronous mode.
01 Synchronous with receiver.
10 Synchronous with another SAI transmitter.
11 Synchronous with another SAI receiver.
So the driver should have set SYNC bit of TCR2 to 0x0, and meanwhile set SYNC
bit of RCR2 to 0x1 (Synchronous with transmitter).

SAI supports these operation modes:
1) asynchronous mode
Both Tx and Rx are set to be asynchronous.
2) synchronous mode (Rx sync with Tx)
Tx is set to be asynchronous, Rx is set to be synchronous.
3) synchronous mode (Tx sync with Rx)
Rx is set to be asynchronous, Tx is set to be synchronous.
4) synchronous mode (Tx/Rx sync with another SAI's Tx)
5) synchronous mode (Tx/Rx sync with another SAI's Rx)
* 4) and 5) are beyond this patch because they are related with another SAI.
As the initial version of this SAI driver, it supported 2) as default while
the others were totally missing.
So this patch just adds supports for 1) and 3).

Original driver didn't store the number of slots, just fix the slot number

In this patch, add one parameter for slots, and update the calculation of
bclk and pins of TX/RX. Then driver will be compatible with slots > 2 in

The Freescale Generic ASoC Sound Card is a general ASoC DAI Link driver that
can be used, ideally, for all Freescale CPU DAI drivers and external CODECs.
The idea of this generic sound card is a bit like ASoC Simple Card. However,
for Freescale SoCs (especially those released in recent years), most of them
have ASRC (Documentation/devicetree/bindings/sound/fsl,asrc.txt) inside. And
this is a specific feature that might be painstakingly controlled and merged
into the Simple Card driver.
So having this driver will allow all Freescale SoC users to benefit from the
simplification to support a new card and the capability of wide sample rates
support through ASRC.
The driver is initially designed for sound card using I2S or PCM DAI formats.
However, it's also possible to merge those non-I2S/PCM type sound cards, such
as S/PDIF audio and HDMI audio, into this card as long as the merge will not
break the original function and as long as there is something redundant that
can be abstracted along with I2S type sound cards.
As an initial version, it only supports three cards that I can test:
imx-audio-cs42888, a new card that links ESAI with CS42888 CODEC
imx-audio-sgtl5000, just like the old imx-sgtl5000.c driver
imx-audio-wm8962, just like the old imx-wm8962.c driver
The driver is also compatible with the old Device Tree bindings of WM8962 and
SGTL5000. So we may consider to remove those two drivers after this driver is
totally enabled. (It needs to be added into defconfig)

ALC269 & co have many vendor-specific setups with COEF verbs.
However, some verbs seem specific to some codec versions and they
result in the codec stalling. Typically, such a case can be avoided
by checking the return value from reading a COEF. If the return value
is -1, it implies that the COEF is invalid, thus it shouldn't be
written.
This patch adds the invalid COEF checks in appropriate places
accessing ALC269 and its variants. The patch actually fixes the
resume problem on Acer AO725 laptop.

Conexnat HD-audio driver has a workaround for cx5051 (aka CX20561)
chip to add fake mute controls to each amp (commit 3868137e). This
implies the minimum-as-mute TLV bit in TLV for each corresponding
control. Meanwhile we build the virtual master from these, but the
TLV bit is missing, even though the slaves have it.
This patch simply adds the missing TLV_DB_SCALE_MUTE bit for vmaster,

This reverts commit a603c8ee52.
fsl_asoc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask() is different with snd_soc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask().
fsl_asoc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask() will set the enabled bit to 0, disabled bit
to 1. snd_soc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask() will set the enabled bit to 1, disabled
bit to 0.
For esai when the bit value is 1, the slot is enabled, when the bit value is 0,
the slot is disabled. If using fsl_asoc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask(), the esai will
work abnormally. So revert this patch, make the esai use default function.

There is no need to restore and restart PCM streams in case ADSP didn't
reach reset and power off state during system suspend/resume cycle. In that
case stream is still active but paused and firmware doesn't allow allocating
a new stream before paused stream is freed.
ADSP remains active in case suspend sequence didn't go to suspend_late
stage. This can happen when either suspend sequence is aborted by a wakeup
or by letting only devices suspend by "echo devices >/sys/power/pm_test".
Currently stream restoring fails in these suspend cases. Fix this by adding
a flag that indicates is complete stream reinitialization needed or is it
enough to resume paused stream. Flag is set when we know that ADSP reached
suspend_late.
Initial fix to this issue came from Fang Yang. I modified it a little and

CA0132 driver tries to reload the firmware at resume. Usually this
works since the firmware loader core caches the firmware contents by
itself. However, if the driver failed to load the firmwares

the actual file loading code path, and triggers a kernel WARNING like:

This merge window brings a good size of cleanups on various
platforms. Among the bigger ones:
* Removal of Samsung s5pc100 and s5p64xx platforms. Both of these have
lacked active support for quite a while, and after asking around nobody
showed interest in keeping them around. If needed, they could be
resurrected in the future but it's more likely that we would prefer
reintroduction of them as DT and multiplatform-enabled platforms
instead.
* OMAP4 controller code register define diet. They defined a lot of registers
that were never actually used, etc.
* Move of some of the Tegra platform code (PMC, APBIO, fuse, powergate)
to drivers/soc so it can be shared with 64-bit code. This also converts them
over to traditional driver models where possible.
* Removal of legacy gpio-samsung driver, since the last users have been

Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Olof Johansson:
"This merge window brings a good size of cleanups on various platforms.
Among the bigger ones:
- Removal of Samsung s5pc100 and s5p64xx platforms. Both of these
have lacked active support for quite a while, and after asking
around nobody showed interest in keeping them around. If needed,
they could be resurrected in the future but it's more likely that
we would prefer reintroduction of them as DT and
multiplatform-enabled platforms instead.
- OMAP4 controller code register define diet. They defined a lot of
registers that were never actually used, etc.
- Move of some of the Tegra platform code (PMC, APBIO, fuse,
powergate) to drivers/soc so it can be shared with 64-bit code.
This also converts them over to traditional driver models where
possible.
- Removal of legacy gpio-samsung driver, since the last users have
been removed (moved to pinctrl)

Add SND_SOC_DAIFMT_CBM_CFS support for Freescale architecture.
Successfully tested on i.MX 6Quad Wandboard and UDOO boards connected to
the pcm1792a codec.
In CBM_CFS mode, when using a sample size of 16 bits, we cannot use
CCSR_SSI_SCR_I2S_MODE_MASTER since we get a frame sync every 16 bits.

CMI8888 codec chip has a boost amp (only) on the headphone pin, and
this confuses the generic parser, which tends to pick up the most
outside amp. This results in the wrong volume setup, as the driver
complains like:
hda_codec: Mismatching dB step for vmaster slave (-100!=1000)
For avoiding this problem, rule out the amp on NID 0x10 and create
"Headphone Amp" volume control manually instead.
Note that this patch still doesn't fix all problems yet. The sound
output from the line out seems still too low. It will be fixed in
another patch (hopefully).

ASUS Phoebus with CMI8888 HD-audio chip (PCI id 13f6:5011) doesn't
work with HD-audio driver as is because of some weird nature. For
making DMA properly working, we need to disable MSI. The position
report buffer doesn't work, thus we need to force reading LPIB
instead. And yet, the codec CORB/RIRB communication gives errors
unless we disable the snooping (caching).
In this patch, all these workarounds are added as a quirk for the
device. The HD-audio *codec* chip needs yet another workaround, but
it'll be provided in the succeeding patch.

sound/usb/card.c registers USB suspend and resume but did not previously
kill the input URBs. This means that USB MIDI devices left open across
suspend/resume had non-functional input (output still usually worked,
but it looks like that is another issue). Before this change, we would
get ESHUTDOWN for each of the input URBs at suspend time, killing input.

ASoC: Fixes for v3.16
Quite a few build coverage fixes in here among the usual small driver
fixes includling the sigmadsp change from Lars - moving the driver to
separate modules per bus (which is basically just code motion) avoids
issues with some combinations of buses being enabled.

Since we pass the port number through file private data for debugfs we cast
it to and from a pointer so use uintptr_t in order to ensure that the
types are compatible, avoiding warnings on 64 bit platforms where pointers
are 64 bit and unsigned integers 32 bit.

The patch 3117bb3109dc: "ASoC: fsl_asrc: Add ASRC ASoC CPU DAI and
platform drivers" from Jul 29, 2014, leads to the following Smatch
complaint:
sound/soc/fsl/fsl_asrc_dma.c:304 fsl_asrc_dma_shutdown()
warn: variable dereferenced before check 'pair' (see line 302)
sound/soc/fsl/fsl_asrc_dma.c
301 struct fsl_asrc_pair *pair = runtime->private_data;
302 struct fsl_asrc *asrc_priv = pair->asrc_priv;
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Dereference.
303
304 if (pair && asrc_priv->pair[pair->index] == pair)
^^^^
Check.
305 asrc_priv->pair[pair->index] = NULL;

So we just let the driver check pair before using it.

Negating ADAU1977_BLOCK_POWER_SAI_LDO_EN creates an unsigned long constant

an unsigned int, generating a warning. Add an explicit cast since we know
this is OK.

snd_soc_open() will trigger pm_runtime resume() which will then enable
the regulator and initialization. So we should make sure the MCLK is
enabled before this resume().
Previously we let the machine driver get the clock and enable it in
its probe(). However, considering about power saving, it'll be better
to enable it when it's going to be used and disable it after using.
So this patch just simply adds clk_get() and clk_enable() to WM8962
driver. Meanwhile, it marks clock pointer to NULL if no clock assigned
to it so it will not break any current function.

The Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter (ASRC) converts the sampling rate of a
signal associated with an input clock into a signal associated with a different
output clock. The driver currently works as a Front End of DPCM with other Back
Ends DAI links such as ESAI<->CS42888 and SSI<->WM8962 and SAI. It converts the
original sample rate to a common rate supported by Back Ends for playback while
converts the common rate of Back Ends to a desired rate for capture. It has 3
pairs to support three different substreams within totally 10 channels.

The previous enable flow:
1, Enable TE&RE (SAI starts to consume tx FIFO and feed rx FIFO)
2, Mask IRQ of Tx/Rx to enable its interrupt.
3, Enable DMA request of Tx/Rx.
As this flow would enable DMA request later than TERE, the Tx FIFO
would be easily emptied into underrun while Rx FIFO would be easily
stuffed into overrun due to the delayed DMA transfering.
This issue happened merely occational before the patch 'ASoC: fsl_sai:
Reset FIFOs after disabling TE/RE' because there were useless data
remaining in the FIFO for the gap. However, it manifested after FIFO
reset's implemented.
After this patch, the new flow:
1, Enable DMA request of Tx/Rx.
2, Enable TE&RE (SAI starts to consume tx FIFO and feed rx FIFO)
3, Mask IRQ of Tx/Rx to enable its interrupt.

TE/RE bit of T/RCSR will remain set untill the current frame is physically
finished. The FIFO reset operation should wait this bit's totally cleared
rather than ignoring its status which might cause TE/RE disabling failed.
This patch adds delay and timeout to wait for its completion before FIFO
reset.

For trigger start, we don't need to check if it's the first time to
enable TE/RE or second time. It doesn't hurt to enable them any way,
which in the meantime can reduce race condition for TE/RE enabling.
For trigger stop, we will definitely clear FRDE of current direction.
Thus the driver only needs to read the opposite one's.

rsnd driver is using SSI/SRC/DVC which are
using "mod" base operation.
These "mod" are supporting "probe" and "remove" callbacks.
Current rsnd_probe should call "remove" if "probe" was failed,
since "probe" might be having DMAEngine handle.
Some mod's "remove" callback might be called without calling
"probe", but it is no problem. because "remove" do nothing
in such case.
So, all mod's "remove" should be called when error case
of rsnd_probe() and rsnd_remove().

Both the snd_soc_codec and snd_soc_platform struct do have a pointer to the
parent card and both handle this pointer in mostly the same way. This patch
moves the card field to the component level which will allow further code
consolidation between platforms and CODECS.
Since there are only a handful of users of the snd_soc_codec struct's card field
(and none of the snd_soc_platform's) these are update in this patch as well,
which allows it to be removed from the snd_soc_codec struct.

This commit uses different labels for control elements of digital input/output
interfaces to correct my misunderstanding about M-Audio Firewire 1814 and
ProjectMix I/O.
According to user manuals for these two models, they have two modes for
digital input; one is S/PDIF in both of optical and coaxial interfaces,
another is ADAT in optical interface only.
But in current implementation, a control element for it reduced labels which
a control element for digital output uses because of my misunderstanding
that optical interface is not available for digital input with S/PDIF mode.

The Gigabyte BRIX BXBT-2707 is a mini-PC with Realtek ALC283 HDA,

However, the default pin config information only suggests
that one pin is connected: a HP out jack (pin 0x21, default
config 0x04211010).
The microphone input is behind pin 0x19, which has default
config 0x411111f0 (i.e. unused), so it does not show up in

Override the pin config so that the headset mic can be used.

For controlling the new fields more strictly, add sw_params.proto
field indicating the protocol version of the user-space. User-space
should fill the SNDRV_PCM_VERSION value it's built with, then kernel
can know whether the new fields should be evaluated or not.
And now tstamp_type field is evaluated only when the valid value is
set there. This avoids the wrong override of tstamp_type to zero,
which is SNDRV_PCM_TSTAMP_TYPE_GETTIMEOFDAY.

DAI link assumes a one to one mapping between CPU DAI and CODEC. In
some cases, the same CPU DAI can be connected to several codecs.
This is the case for example, if you connect two mono codecs to the
same I2S link in order to have a stereo card.
The current ASoC implementation does not allow such setup.
Add support for DAI links composed of a single CPU DAI and multiple
CODECs. Sound cards have to pass the CODECs array in the corresponding
DAI link through a new 'snd_soc_dai_link_component' struct. Each CODEC in
this array is described in the same manner single CODEC DAIs are
(either DT/OF node or codec_name).
Multi-codec links are not supported in the case of CODEC to CODEC links.

ALSA: hda: Fix build warning
I previously added an integer overflow check here but looking at it now,
it's still buggy.
The bug happens in snd_compr_allocate_buffer(). We multiply
".fragments" and ".fragment_size" and that doesn't overflow but then we
save it in an unsigned int so it truncates the high bits away and we
allocate a smaller than expected size.

Since init_failed flag was moved to struct hda_intel, its access in
the commit [4da63c6f: ALSA: hda - Fix broken PM due to incomplete
i915 initialization] is also replaced with hda->init_failed
appropriately.
When the initialization of Intel HDMI controller fails due to missing
i915 kernel symbols (e.g. HD-audio is built in while i915 is module),
the driver discontinues the probe. However, since the probe was done
asynchronously, the driver object still remains, thus the relevant PM
ops are still called at suspend/resume. This results in the bad access
to the incomplete audio card object, eventually leads to Oops or stall
at PM.
This patch adds the missing checks of chip->init_failed flag at each
PM callback in order to fix the problem above.

The s3c_dma_client structures and the 'ch' and 'ops' members in
s3c_dma_params were only used by the legacy DMA driver and serve
no function any more. This removes any reference to them.

Commit ae602456e8 ("ASoC: samsung: drop support for legacy
S3C24XX DMA API") removed the old code for the samsung specific
DMA interfaces, now that everybody can use dmaengine.
This picks up the few remaining pieces left over by that patch:
The most important one is the removal of the dma_data->ops->started()
calls in ac97. My understanding is that these are only required
for drivers that do not support cyclic transfers, which the new dma
engine driver now does, so we can simply remove them. This would also
fix at least one bug in the ac97 driver on newer machines, which
currently gives us a NULL pointer dereference from trying to call
dma_data->ops->started().
Further, we must no longer 'select' S3C2410_DMA, which conflicts
with the dmaengine driver. The SND_S3C_DMA symbol is now
useless, because it is always selected, so we can remove it
and build the dmaengine support unconditionally.
Finally, we should not 'select' S3C24XX_DMAC or S3C64XX_PL080,
which may have additional dependencies. This replaces it with
'depends on', to be more conservative.

We got a regression report for 3.15.x kernels, and this turned out to
be triggered by the fix for stream assignment order. On reporter's
machine with Intel controller (8086:1e20) + VIA VT1802 codec, the
first playback slot can't work with speaker outputs.
But the original commit was actually a fix for AMD controllers where
no proper GCAP value is returned, we shouldn't revert the whole
commit. Instead, in this patch, a new flag is introduced to determine
the stream assignment order, and follow the old behavior for Intel
controllers.
