When we do ipv6 gre pmtu update, we will also do neigh confirm currently.
This will cause the neigh cache be refreshed and set to REACHABLE before
xmit.
But if the remote mac address changed, e.g. device is deleted and recreated,
we will not able to notice this and still use the old mac address as the neigh
cache is REACHABLE.
Fix this by disable neigh confirm when do pmtu update

The MTU update code is supposed to be invoked in response to real
networking events that update the PMTU. In IPv6 PMTU update function
__ip6_rt_update_pmtu() we called dst_confirm_neigh() to update neighbor
confirmed time.
But for tunnel code, it will call pmtu before xmit, like:
- tnl_update_pmtu()
- skb_dst_update_pmtu()
- ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- __ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- dst_confirm_neigh()
If the tunnel remote dst mac address changed and we still do the neigh
confirm, we will not be able to update neigh cache and ping6 remote
will failed.
So for this ip_tunnel_xmit() case, _EVEN_ if the MTU is changed, we
should not be invoking dst_confirm_neigh() as we have no evidence
of successful two-way communication at this point.
On the other hand it is also important to keep the neigh reachability fresh
for TCP flows, so we cannot remove this dst_confirm_neigh() call.
To fix the issue, we have to add a new bool parameter for dst_ops.update_pmtu
to choose whether we should do neigh update or not. I will add the parameter
in this patch and set all the callers to true to comply with the previous
way, and fix the tunnel code one by one on later patches.

ipv6_stub uses the ip6_dst_lookup function to allow other modules to
perform IPv6 lookups. However, this function skips the XFRM layer
entirely.
All users of ipv6_stub->ip6_dst_lookup use ip_route_output_flow (via the
ip_route_output_key and ip_route_output helpers) for their IPv4 lookups,
which calls xfrm_lookup_route(). This patch fixes this inconsistent
behavior by switching the stub to ip6_dst_lookup_flow, which also calls
xfrm_lookup_route().
This requires some changes in all the callers, as these two functions
take different arguments and have different return types.

Note that the sysctl write accessor functions guarantee that:
net->ipv4.sysctl_ip_prot_sock <= net->ipv4.ip_local_ports.range[0]
invariant is maintained, and as such the max() in selinux hooks is actually spurious.
ie. even though
if (snum < max(inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)), low) || snum > high) {
per logic is the same as
if ((snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) && snum < low) || snum > high) {
it is actually functionally equivalent to:
if (snum < low || snum > high) {
which is equivalent to:
if (snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) || snum < low || snum > high) {
even though the first clause is spurious.
But we want to hold on to it in case we ever want to change what what
inet_port_requires_bind_service() means (for example by changing
it from a, by default, [0..1024) range to some sort of set).

End.DT6 behavior makes use of seg6_lookup_nexthop() function which drops
all packets that are destined to be locally processed. However, DT* should
be able to deliver decapsulated packets that are destined to local
addresses. Function seg6_lookup_nexthop() is also used by DX6, so in order
to maintain compatibility I created another routing helper function which
is called seg6_lookup_any_nexthop(). This function is able to take into
account both packets that have to be processed locally and the ones that
are destined to be forwarded directly to another machine. Hence,
seg6_lookup_any_nexthop() is used in DT6 rather than seg6_lookup_nexthop()
to allow local delivery.

When doing RX batch packet processing, we currently always repeat
the route lookup for each ingress packet. When no custom rules are
in place, and there aren't routes depending on source addresses,
we know that packets with the same destination address will use
the same dst.
This change tries to avoid per packet route lookup caching
the destination address of the latest successful lookup, and
reusing it for the next packet when the above conditions are
in place. Ingress traffic for most servers should fit.
The measured performance delta under UDP flood vs a recvmmsg
receiver is as follow:
vanilla patched delta
Kpps Kpps %
1431 1674 +17
In the worst-case scenario - each packet has a different
destination address - the performance delta is within noise
range.

in the receive path (more precisely in ip6_rcv_core()) the
skb->transport_header is set to skb->network_header + sizeof(*hdr). As a
consequence, after routing operations, destination input expects to find
skb->transport_header correctly set to the next protocol (or extension
header) that follows the network protocol. However, decap behaviors (DX*,
DT*) remove the outer IPv6 and SRH extension and do not set again the
skb->transport_header pointer correctly. For this reason, the patch sets
the skb->transport_header to the skb->network_header + sizeof(hdr) in each

This patch adds the dataplane hardware offload to the flowtable
infrastructure. Three new flags represent the hardware state of this
flow:
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW: This flow entry resides in the hardware.
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW_DYING: This flow entry has been scheduled to be remove
from hardware. This might be triggered by either packet path (via TCP
RST/FIN packet) or via aging.
* FLOW_OFFLOAD_HW_DEAD: This flow entry has been already removed from
the hardware, the software garbage collector can remove it from the
software flowtable.
This patch supports for:
* IPv4 only.
* Aging via FLOW_CLS_STATS, no packet and byte counter synchronization

traceroute6 output can be confusing, in that it shows the address
that a router would use to reach the sender, rather than the address
the packet used to reach the router.
Consider this case:

where H1's default route is through R1, and R1's default route is

traceroute6 from H1 to H2 shows R2's address on N1 rather than on N2.

__netif_receive_skb_list_ptype net/core/dev.c:5274 [inline]
Reason:
void ipv6_list_rcv(struct list_head *head, struct packet_type *pt,
struct net_device *orig_dev)
[..]
list_for_each_entry_safe(skb, next, head, list) {
/* iterates list */

/* ip6_rcv_core drops skb -> NULL is returned */
if (skb == NULL)
continue;
[..]
}
/* sublist is empty -> curr_net is NULL */
ip6_sublist_rcv(&sublist, curr_dev, curr_net);
Before the recent change NF_HOOK_LIST did a list iteration before
struct net deref, i.e. it was a no-op in the empty list case.
List iteration now happens after *net deref, causing crash.
Follow the same pattern as the ip(v6)_list_rcv loop and add a list_empty
test for the final sublist dispatch too.

Thomas found that some forwarded packets would be stuck
in FQ packet scheduler because their skb->tstamp contained
timestamps far in the future.
We thought we addressed this point in commit 8203e2d844
("net: clear skb->tstamp in forwarding paths") but there
is still an issue when/if a packet needs to be fragmented.
In order to meet EDT requirements, we have to make sure all
fragments get the original skb->tstamp.
Note that this original skb->tstamp should be zero in
forwarding path, but might have a non zero value in
output path if user decided so.

While invalidating the dst, we assign backhole_netdev instead of
loopback device. However, this device does not have idev pointer
and hence no ip6_ptr even if IPv6 is enabled. Possibly this has
triggered the syzbot reported crash.
The syzbot report does not have reproducer, however, this is the
only device that doesn't have matching idev created.
Crash instruction is :
static inline bool ip6_ignore_linkdown(const struct net_device *dev)
{
const struct inet6_dev *idev = __in6_dev_get(dev);
return !!idev->cnf.ignore_routes_with_linkdown; <= crash
}
Also ipv6 always assumes presence of idev and never checks for it
being NULL (as does the above referenced code). So adding a idev
for the blackhole_netdev to avoid this class of crashes in the future.

Both tcp_v4_err() and tcp_v6_err() do the following operations
while they do not own the socket lock :
fastopen = tp->fastopen_rsk;
snd_una = fastopen ? tcp_rsk(fastopen)->snt_isn : tp->snd_una;
The problem is that without appropriate barrier, the compiler
might reload tp->fastopen_rsk and trigger a NULL deref.
request sockets are protected by RCU, we can simply add
the missing annotations and barriers to solve the issue.

addrconf_dad_work is kicked to be scheduled when a device is brought
up. There is a race between addrcond_dad_work getting scheduled and
taking the rtnl lock and a process taking the link down (under rtnl).
The latter removes the host route from the inet6_addr as part of
addrconf_ifdown which is run for NETDEV_DOWN. The former attempts
to use the host route in __ipv6_ifa_notify. If the down event removes
the host route due to the race to the rtnl, then the BUG listed above
occurs.
Since the DAD sequence can not be aborted, add a check for the missing
host route in __ipv6_ifa_notify. The only way this should happen is due
to the previously mentioned race. The host route is created when the
address is added to an interface; it is only removed on a down event
where the address is kept. Add a warning if the host route is missing
AND the device is up; this is a situation that should never happen.

Prior to this change an application sending <= 1MSS worth of data and
enabling UDP GSO would fail if the system had SW GSO enabled, but the
same send would succeed if HW GSO offload is enabled. In addition to this
inconsistency the error in the SW GSO case does not get back to the
application if sending out of a real device so the user is unaware of this
failure.
With this change we only perform GSO if the # of segments is > 1 even
if the application has enabled segmentation. I've also updated the
relevant udpgso selftests.

This began with a syzbot report. syzkaller was injecting
IPv6 TCP SYN packets having a v4mapped source address.
After an unsuccessful 4-tuple lookup, TCP creates a request
socket (SYN_RECV) and calls reqsk_queue_hash_req()
reqsk_queue_hash_req() calls sk_ehashfn(sk)
At this point we have AF_INET6 sockets, and the heuristic
used by sk_ehashfn() to either hash the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses
is to use ipv6_addr_v4mapped(&sk->sk_v6_daddr)
For the particular spoofed packet, we end up hashing V4 addresses
which were not initialized by the TCP IPv6 stack, so KMSAN fired
a warning.
I first fixed sk_ehashfn() to test both source and destination addresses,
but then faced various problems, including user-space programs
like packetdrill that had similar assumptions.
Instead of trying to fix the whole ecosystem, it is better
to admit that we have a dual stack behavior, and that we
can not build linux kernels without V4 stack anyway.
The dual stack API automatically forces the traffic to be IPv4
if v4mapped addresses are used at bind() or connect(), so it makes
no sense to allow IPv6 traffic to use the same v4mapped class.

addrconf_dad_work is kicked to be scheduled when a device is brought
up. There is a race between addrcond_dad_work getting scheduled and
taking the rtnl lock and a process taking the link down (under rtnl).
The latter removes the host route from the inet6_addr as part of
addrconf_ifdown which is run for NETDEV_DOWN. The former attempts
to use the host route in ipv6_ifa_notify. If the down event removes
the host route due to the race to the rtnl, then the BUG listed above
occurs.
This scenario does not occur when the ipv6 address is not kept
(net.ipv6.conf.all.keep_addr_on_down = 0) as addrconf_ifdown sets the
state of the ifp to DEAD. Handle when the addresses are kept by checking
IF_READY which is reset by addrconf_ifdown.
The 'dead' flag for an inet6_addr is set only under rtnl, in
addrconf_ifdown and it means the device is getting removed (or IPv6 is
disabled). The interesting cases for changing the idev flag are
addrconf_notify (NETDEV_UP and NETDEV_CHANGE) and addrconf_ifdown
(reset the flag). The former does not have the idev lock - only rtnl;
the latter has both. Based on that the existing dead + IF_READY check
can be moved to right after the rtnl_lock in addrconf_dad_work.

commit 174e23810c
("sk_buff: drop all skb extensions on free and skb scrubbing") made napi
recycle always drop skb extensions. The additional skb_ext_del() that is
performed via nf_reset on napi skb recycle is not needed anymore.
Most nf_reset() calls in the stack are there so queued skb won't block
'rmmod nf_conntrack' indefinitely.
This removes the skb_ext_del from nf_reset, and renames it to a more
fitting nf_reset_ct().
In a few selected places, add a call to skb_ext_reset to make sure that
no active extensions remain.
I am submitting this for "net", because we're still early in the release

ctl packets sent on behalf of TIME_WAIT sockets currently
have a zero skb->priority, which can cause various problems.
In this patch we :
- add a tw_priority field in struct inet_timewait_sock.
- populate it from sk->sk_priority when a TIME_WAIT is created.
- For IPv4, change ip_send_unicast_reply() and its two
callers to propagate tw_priority correctly.
ip_send_unicast_reply() no longer changes sk->sk_priority.
- For IPv6, make sure TIME_WAIT sockets pass their tw_priority

UDP reuseport groups can hold a mix unconnected and connected sockets.
Ensure that connections only receive all traffic to their 4-tuple.
Fast reuseport returns on the first reuseport match on the assumption
that all matches are equal. Only if connections are present, return to
the previous behavior of scoring all sockets.
Record if connections are present and if so (1) treat such connected
sockets as an independent match from the group, (2) only return
2-tuple matches from reuseport and (3) do not return on the first
2-tuple reuseport match to allow for a higher scoring match later.
New field has_conns is set without locks. No other fields in the

Enable setting skb->mark for UDP and RAW sockets using cmsg.
This is analogous to existing support for TOS, TTL, txtime, etc.
Packet sockets already support this as of commit c7d39e3263

Similar to other fields, implement by

3. initialize inet_cork.mark from sockcm_cookie.mark

This is the equivalent of commit 2c6b55f45d ("ipv6: fix neighbour
resolution with raw socket") for ip6_confirm_neigh(): we can send a
packet with MSG_CONFIRM on a raw socket for a connected route, so the
gateway would be :: here, and we should pick the next hop using
rt6_nexthop() instead.
This was found by code review and, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't
actually fix a practical issue: the destination address from the packet
is not considered while confirming a neighbour, as ip6_confirm_neigh()
calls choose_neigh_daddr() without passing the packet, so there are no
similar issues as the one fixed by said commit.
A possible source of issues with the existing implementation might come
from the fact that, if we have a cached dst, we won't consider it,
while rt6_nexthop() takes care of that. I might just not be creative
enough to find a practical problem here: the only way to affect this
with cached routes is to have one coming from an ICMPv6 redirect, but
if the next hop is a directly connected host, there should be no
topology for which a redirect applies here, and tests with redirected
routes show no differences for MSG_CONFIRM (and MSG_PROBE) packets on
raw sockets destined to a directly connected host.
However, directly using the dst gateway here is not consistent anymore
with neighbour resolution, and, in general, as we want the next hop,
using rt6_nexthop() looks like the only sane way to fetch it.

This is a re-post of previous patch wrote by David Miller[1].
Phil Karn reported[2] that on busy networks with lots of unresolved
multicast routing entries, the creation of new multicast group routes
can be extremely slow and unreliable.
The reason is we hard-coded multicast route entries with unresolved source
addresses(cache_resolve_queue_len) to 10. If some multicast route never
resolves and the unresolved source addresses increased, there will
be no ability to create new multicast route cache.
To resolve this issue, we need either add a sysctl entry to make the
cache_resolve_queue_len configurable, or just remove cache_resolve_queue_len
limit directly, as we already have the socket receive queue limits of mrouted
socket, pointed by David.
>From my side, I'd perfer to remove the cache_resolve_queue_len limit instead
of creating two more(IPv4 and IPv6 version) sysctl entry.

In commit 93a714d6b5 ("multicast: Extend ip address command to enable
multicast group join/leave on") we added a new flag IFA_F_MCAUTOJOIN
to make user able to add multicast address on ethernet interface.
This works for IPv4, but not for IPv6. See the inet6_addr_add code.
static int inet6_addr_add()
{
...
if (cfg->ifa_flags & IFA_F_MCAUTOJOIN) {
ipv6_mc_config(net->ipv6.mc_autojoin_sk, true...)
}
ifp = ipv6_add_addr(idev, cfg, true, extack); <- always fail with maddr
if (!IS_ERR(ifp)) {
...
} else if (cfg->ifa_flags & IFA_F_MCAUTOJOIN) {
ipv6_mc_config(net->ipv6.mc_autojoin_sk, false...)
}
}
But in ipv6_add_addr() it will check the address type and reject multicast
address directly. So this feature is never worked for IPv6.
We should not remove the multicast address check totally in ipv6_add_addr(),
but could accept multicast address only when IFA_F_MCAUTOJOIN flag supplied.

Conflict is between the two commits 1d4126c4e1 ("libbpf: sanitize VAR to
conservative 1-byte INT") and b03bc6853c ("libbpf: convert libbpf code to
use new btf helpers"), so we need to pick the sanitation fixup as well as
use the new btf_is_datasec() helper and the whitespace cleanup. Looks like
the following:
[...]
if (!has_datasec && btf_is_var(t)) {
/* replace VAR with INT */
t->info = BTF_INFO_ENC(BTF_KIND_INT, 0, 0);
/*
* using size = 1 is the safest choice, 4 will be too
* big and cause kernel BTF validation failure if
* original variable took less than 4 bytes
*/
t->size = 1;
*(int *)(t + 1) = BTF_INT_ENC(0, 0, 8);
} else if (!has_datasec && btf_is_datasec(t)) {
/* replace DATASEC with STRUCT */
[...]
The main changes are:
1) Addition of core parts of compile once - run everywhere (co-re) effort,
that is, relocation of fields offsets in libbpf as well as exposure of
kernel's own BTF via sysfs and loading through libbpf, from Andrii.
More info on co-re: http://vger.kernel.org/bpfconf2019.html#session-2
and http://vger.kernel.org/lpc-bpf2018.html#session-2
2) Enable passing input flags to the BPF flow dissector to customize parsing
and allowing it to stop early similar to the C based one, from Stanislav.
3) Add a BPF helper function that allows generating SYN cookies from XDP and
tc BPF, from Petar.
4) Add devmap hash-based map type for more flexibility in device lookup for
redirects, from Toke.
5) Improvements to XDP forwarding sample code now utilizing recently enabled
devmap lookups, from Jesper.
6) Add support for reporting the effective cgroup progs in bpftool, from Jakub
and Takshak.
7) Fix reading kernel config from bpftool via /proc/config.gz, from Peter.
8) Fix AF_XDP umem pages mapping for 32 bit architectures, from Ivan.
9) Follow-up to add two more BPF loop tests for the selftest suite, from Alexei.
10) Add perf event output helper also for other skb-based program types, from Allan.
11) Fix a co-re related compilation error in selftests, from Yonghong.

Before commit d4289fcc9b ("net: IP6 defrag: use rbtrees for IPv6
defrag"), a netperf UDP_STREAM test[0] using big IPv6 datagrams (thus
generating many fragments) and running over an IPsec tunnel, reported
more than 6Gbps throughput. After that patch, the same test gets only
9Mbps when receiving on a be2net nic (driver can make a big difference
here, for example, ixgbe doesn't seem to be affected).
By reusing the IPv4 defragmentation code, IPv6 lost fragment coalescing
(IPv4 fragment coalescing was dropped by commit 14fe22e334 ("Revert
"ipv4: use skb coalescing in defragmentation"")).
Without fragment coalescing, be2net runs out of Rx ring entries and
starts to drop frames (ethtool reports rx_drops_no_frags errors). Since
the netperf traffic is only composed of UDP fragments, any lost packet
prevents reassembly of the full datagram. Therefore, fragments which
have no possibility to ever get reassembled pile up in the reassembly
queue, until the memory accounting exeeds the threshold. At that point
no fragment is accepted anymore, which effectively discards all
netperf traffic.
When reassembly timeout expires, some stale fragments are removed from
the reassembly queue, so a few packets can be received, reassembled
and delivered to the netperf receiver. But the nic still drops frames
and soon the reassembly queue gets filled again with stale fragments.
These long time frames where no datagram can be received explain why
the performance drop is so significant.
Re-introducing fragment coalescing is enough to get the initial
performances again (6.6Gbps with be2net): driver doesn't drop frames
anymore (no more rx_drops_no_frags errors) and the reassembly engine
works at full speed.
This patch is quite conservative and only coalesces skbs for local
IPv4 and IPv6 delivery (in order to avoid changing skb geometry when
forwarding). Coalescing could be extended in the future if need be, as
more scenarios would probably benefit from it.

In the sysctl code the proc_dointvec_minmax() function is often used to
validate the user supplied value between an allowed range. This
function uses the extra1 and extra2 members from struct ctl_table as
minimum and maximum allowed value.
On sysctl handler declaration, in every source file there are some
readonly variables containing just an integer which address is assigned
to the extra1 and extra2 members, so the sysctl range is enforced.
The special values 0, 1 and INT_MAX are very often used as range
boundary, leading duplication of variables like zero=0, one=1,
int_max=INT_MAX in different source files:
$ git grep -E '\.extra[12].*&(zero|one|int_max)' |wc -l

Add a const int array containing the most commonly used values, some
macros to refer more easily to the correct array member, and use them
instead of creating a local one for every object file.

When a route needs to be appended to an existing multipath route,
fib6_add_rt2node() first appends it to the siblings list and increments
the number of sibling routes on each sibling.
Later, the function notifies the route via call_fib6_entry_notifiers().
In case the notification is vetoed, the route is not unlinked from the
siblings list, which can result in a use-after-free.
Fix this by unlinking the route from the siblings list before returning
an error.

is called and could not find more problems.

Processes can request ipv6 flowlabels with cmsg IPV6_FLOWINFO.
If not set, by default an autogenerated flowlabel is selected.
Explicit flowlabels require a control operation per label plus a
datapath check on every connection (every datagram if unconnected).
This is particularly expensive on unconnected sockets multiplexing
many flows, such as QUIC.
In the common case, where no lease is exclusive, the check can be
safely elided, as both lease request and check trivially succeed.
Indeed, autoflowlabel does the same even with exclusive leases.
Elide the check if no process has requested an exclusive lease.
fl6_sock_lookup previously returns either a reference to a lease or
NULL to denote failure. Modify to return a real error and update
all callers. On return NULL, they can use the label and will elide
the atomic_dec in fl6_sock_release.
This is an optimization. Robust applications still have to revert to
requesting leases if the fast path fails due to an exclusive lease.
Changes RFC->v1:
- use static_key_false_deferred to rate limit jump label operations
- call static_key_deferred_flush to stop timers on exit
- move decrement out of RCU context
- defer optimization also if opt data is associated with a lease
- updated all fp6_sock_lookup callers, not just udp

This will simplify indirect call wrapper invocation in the following
patch.
No functional change intended, any - out-of-tree - IPv6 user of
inet_{recv,send}msg can keep using the existing functions.
SCTP code still uses the existing version even for ipv6: as this series
will not add ICW for SCTP, moving to the new helper would not give
any benefit.
The only other in-kernel user of inet_{recv,send}msg is
pvcalls_conn_back_read(), but psvcalls explicitly creates only IPv4 socket,
so no need to update that code path, too.

Gateway validation does not need a dst_entry, it only needs the fib
entry to validate the gateway resolution and egress device. So,
convert ip6_nh_lookup_table from ip6_pol_route to fib6_table_lookup
and ip6_route_check_nh to use fib6_lookup over rt6_lookup.
ip6_pol_route is a call to fib6_table_lookup and if successful a call
to fib6_select_path. From there the exception cache is searched for an
entry or a dst_entry is created to return to the caller. The exception
entry is not relevant for gateway validation, so what matters are the
calls to fib6_table_lookup and then fib6_select_path.
Similarly, rt6_lookup can be replaced with a call to fib6_lookup with
RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE set in flags. Again, the exception cache search is
not relevant, only the lookup with path selection. The primary difference
in the lookup paths is the use of rt6_select with fib6_lookup versus
rt6_device_match with rt6_lookup. When you remove complexities in the
rt6_select path, e.g.,
1. saddr is not set for gateway validation, so RT6_LOOKUP_F_HAS_SADDR
is not relevant
2. rt6_check_neigh is not called so that removes the RT6_NUD_FAIL_DO_RR
return and round-robin logic.
the code paths are believed to be equivalent for the given use case -
validate the gateway and optionally given the device. Furthermore, it
aligns the validation with onlink code path and the lookup path actually
used for rx and tx.
Adjust the users, ip6_route_check_nh_onlink and ip6_route_check_nh to
handle a fib6_info vs a rt6_info when performing validation checks.
Existing selftests fib-onlink-tests.sh and fib_tests.sh are used to
verify the changes.

The scenario is the following: the user uses a raw socket to send an ipv6
packet, destinated to a not-connected network, and specify a connected nh.
Here is the corresponding python script to reproduce this scenario:
import socket
IPPROTO_RAW = 255
send_s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_RAW, IPPROTO_RAW)
# scapy
# p = IPv6(src='fd00💯:1', dst='fd00:200::fa')/ICMPv6EchoRequest()
# str(p)
req = b'`\x00\x00\x00\x00\x08:@\xfd\x00\x01\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x01\xfd\x00\x02\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\xfa\x80\x00\x81\xc0\x00\x00\x00\x00'
send_s.sendto(req, ('fd00:175::2', 0, 0, 0))
fd00:175::/64 is a connected route and fd00:200::fa is not a connected
host.
With this scenario, the kernel starts by sending a NS to resolve
fd00:175::2. When it receives the NA, it flushes its queue and try to send
the initial packet. But instead of sending it, it sends another NS to
resolve fd00:200::fa, which obvioulsy fails, thus the packet is dropped. If
the user sends again the packet, it now uses the right nh (fd00:175::2).
The problem is that ip6_dst_lookup_neigh() uses the rt6i_gateway, which is
:: because the associated route is a connected route, thus it uses the dst
addr of the packet. Let's use rt6_nexthop() to choose the right nh.

When we perform an inexact match on FIB nodes via fib6_locate_1(), longer
prefixes will be preferred to shorter ones. However, it might happen that
a node, with higher fn_bit value than some other, has no valid routing
information.
In this case, we'll pick that node, but it will be discarded by the check
on RTN_RTINFO in fib6_locate(), and we might miss nodes with valid routing
information but with lower fn_bit value.
This is apparent when a routing exception is created for a default route:

Since commit 2b760fcf5c ("ipv6: hook up exception table to store dst
cache"), route exceptions reside in a separate hash table, and won't be
found by walking the FIB, so they won't be dumped to userspace on a
RTM_GETROUTE message.
This causes 'ip -6 route list cache' and 'ip -6 route flush cache' to
have no function anymore:
# ip -6 route get fc00:3::1
fc00:3::1 via fc00:1::2 dev veth_A-R1 src fc00:1::1 metric 1024 expires 539sec mtu 1400 pref medium

fc00:4::1 via fc00:2::2 dev veth_A-R2 src fc00:2::1 metric 1024 expires 519sec mtu 1500 pref medium
because iproute2 lists cached routes using RTM_GETROUTE, and flushes them
by listing all the routes, and deleting them with RTM_DELROUTE one by one.
If cached routes are requested using the RTM_F_CLONED flag together with
strict checking, or if no strict checking is requested (and hence we can't
consistently apply filters), look up exceptions in the hash table
associated with the current fib6_info in rt6_dump_route(), and, if present
and not expired, add them to the dump.
We might be unable to dump all the entries for a given node in a single
message, so keep track of how many entries were handled for the current
node in fib6_walker, and skip that amount in case we start from the same
partially dumped node.
When a partial dump restarts, as the starting node might change when
'sernum' changes, we have no guarantee that we need to skip the same
amount of in-node entries. Therefore, we need two counters, and we need to
zero the in-node counter if the node from which the dump is resumed
differs.
Note that, with the current version of iproute2, this only fixes the
'ip -6 route list cache': on a flush command, iproute2 doesn't pass
RTM_F_CLONED and, due to this inconsistency, 'ip -6 route flush cache' is
still unable to fetch the routes to be flushed. This will be addressed in
a patch for iproute2.
To flush cached routes, a procfs entry could be introduced instead: that's
how it works for IPv4. We already have a rt6_flush_exception() function
ready to be wired to it. However, this would not solve the issue for
listing.

v7:
- Explain usage of "skip" counters in commit message (suggested by
David Ahern)
v6:
- Rebase onto net-next, use recently introduced nexthop walker
- Make rt6_nh_dump_exceptions() a separate function (suggested by David
Ahern)
v5:
- Use dump_routes and dump_exceptions from filter, ignore NLM_F_MATCH,
update test results (flushing works with iproute2 < 5.0.0 now)
v4:
- Split NLM_F_MATCH and strict check handling in separate patches
- Filter routes using RTM_F_CLONED: if it's not set, only return
non-cached routes, and if it's set, only return cached routes:
change requested by David Ahern and Martin Lau. This implies that
iproute2 needs a separate patch to be able to flush IPv6 cached
routes. This is not ideal because we can't fix the breakage caused
by 2b760fcf5c entirely in kernel. However, two years have passed
since then, and this makes it more tolerable
v3:
- More descriptive comment about expired exceptions in rt6_dump_route()
- Swap return values of rt6_dump_route() (suggested by Martin Lau)
- Don't zero skip_in_node in case we don't dump anything in a given pass
(also suggested by Martin Lau)
- Remove check on RTM_F_CLONED altogether: in the current UAPI semantic,
it's just a flag to indicate the route was cloned, not to filter on
routes
v2: Add tracking of number of entries to be skipped in current node after
a partial dump. As we restart from the same node, if not all the
exceptions for a given node fit in a single message, the dump will
not terminate, as suggested by Martin Lau. This is a concrete
possibility, setting up a big number of exceptions for the same route
actually causes the issue, suggested by David Ahern.

Change the return code of rt6_dump_route() to accomodate partial node
dumps: we might dump multiple routes per node, and might be able to dump
only a given number of them, so fib6_dump_node() will need to know how
many routes have been dumped on partial dump, to restart the dump from the
point where it was interrupted.
Note that fib6_dump_node() is the only caller and already handles all
non-negative return codes as success: those become -1 to signal that we're
done with the node. If we fail, return 0, as we were unable to dump the
single route in the node, but we're not done with it.

The following patches add back the ability to dump IPv4 and IPv6 exception
routes, and we need to allow selection of regular routes or exceptions.
Use RTM_F_CLONED as filter to decide whether to dump routes or exceptions:
iproute2 passes it in dump requests (except for IPv6 cache flush requests,
this will be fixed in iproute2) and this used to work as long as
exceptions were stored directly in the FIB, for both IPv4 and IPv6.
Caveat: if strict checking is not requested (that is, if the dump request
doesn't go through ip_valid_fib_dump_req()), we can't filter on protocol,
tables or route types.
In this case, filtering on RTM_F_CLONED would be inconsistent: we would
fix 'ip route list cache' by returning exception routes and at the same
time introduce another bug in case another selector is present, e.g. on
'ip route list cache table main' we would return all exception routes,
without filtering on tables.
Keep this consistent by applying no filters at all, and dumping both
routes and exceptions, if strict checking is not requested. iproute2
currently filters results anyway, and no unwanted results will be
presented to the user. The kernel will just dump more data than needed.
v7: No changes
v6: Rebase onto net-next, no changes
v5: New patch: add dump_routes and dump_exceptions flags in filter and
simply clear the unwanted one if strict checking is enabled, don't
ignore NLM_F_MATCH and don't set filter_set if NLM_F_MATCH is set.
Skip filtering altogether if no strict checking is requested:
selecting routes or exceptions only would be inconsistent with the
fact we can't filter on tables.

For tx path, in most cases, we still have to take refcnt on the dst
cause the caller is caching the dst somewhere. But it still is
beneficial to make use of RT6_LOOKUP_F_DST_NOREF flag while doing the
route lookup. It is cause this flag prevents manipulating refcnt on
net->ipv6.ip6_null_entry when doing fib6_rule_lookup() to traverse each
routing table. The null_entry is a shared object and constant updates on
it cause false sharing.
We converted the current major lookup function ip6_route_output_flags()
to make use of RT6_LOOKUP_F_DST_NOREF.
Together with the change in the rx path, we see noticable performance
boost:
I ran synflood tests between 2 hosts under the same switch. Both hosts
have 20G mlx NIC, and 8 tx/rx queues.
Sender sends pure SYN flood with random src IPs and ports using trafgen.
Receiver has a simple TCP listener on the target port.
Both hosts have multiple custom rules:
- For incoming packets, only local table is traversed.
- For outgoing packets, 3 tables are traversed to find the route.
The packet processing rate on the receiver is as follows:
- Before the fix: 3.78Mpps
- After the fix: 5.50Mpps

This new flag is to instruct the route lookup function to not take
refcnt on the dst entry. The user which does route lookup with this flag
must properly use rcu protection.
ip6_pol_route() is the major route lookup function for both tx and rx
path.
In this function:
Do not take refcnt on dst if RT6_LOOKUP_F_DST_NOREF flag is set, and
directly return the route entry. The caller should be holding rcu lock
when using this flag, and decide whether to take refcnt or not.
One note on the dst cache in the uncached_list:
As uncached_list does not consume refcnt, one refcnt is always returned
back to the caller even if RT6_LOOKUP_F_DST_NOREF flag is set.
Uncached dst is only possible in the output path. So in such call path,
caller MUST check if the dst is in the uncached_list before assuming

Another round of SPDX updates for 5.2-rc6
Here is what I am guessing is going to be the last "big" SPDX update for

going to be a bit more difficult and the people on the spdx list will be

Adding delays to TCP flows is crucial for studying behavior
of TCP stacks, including congestion control modules.
Linux offers netem module, but it has unpractical constraints :
- Need root access to change qdisc
- Hard to setup on egress if combined with non trivial qdisc like FQ
- Single delay for all flows.
EDT (Earliest Departure Time) adoption in TCP stack allows us
to enable a per socket delay at a very small cost.
Networking tools can now establish thousands of flows, each of them
with a different delay, simulating real world conditions.
This requires FQ packet scheduler or a EDT-enabled NIC.
This patchs adds TCP_TX_DELAY socket option, to set a delay in
usec units.
unsigned int tx_delay = 10000; /* 10 msec */
setsockopt(fd, SOL_TCP, TCP_TX_DELAY, &tx_delay, sizeof(tx_delay));
Note that FQ packet scheduler limits might need some tweaking :
man tc-fq
PARAMETERS
limit
Hard limit on the real queue size. When this limit is
reached, new packets are dropped. If the value is lowered,
packets are dropped so that the new limit is met. Default
is 10000 packets.
flow_limit
Hard limit on the maximum number of packets queued per
flow. Default value is 100.
Use of TCP_TX_DELAY option will increase number of skbs in FQ qdisc,
so packets would be dropped if any of the previous limit is hit.
Use of a jump label makes this support runtime-free, for hosts
never using the option.
Also note that TSQ (TCP Small Queues) limits are slightly changed
with this patch : we need to account that skbs artificially delayed
wont stop us providind more skbs to feed the pipe (netem uses
skb_orphan_partial() for this purpose, but FQ can not use this trick)
Because of that, using big delays might very well trigger
old bugs in TSO auto defer logic and/or sndbuf limited detection.

Add support for RTA_NH_ID attribute to allow a user to specify a

hold the value passed in the RTA_NH_ID attribute. If a nexthop id

Update ip6_route_del to check metric and protocol before nexthop

In case autoflowlabel is in action, skb_get_hash_flowi6()
derives a non zero skb->hash to the flowlabel.
If skb->hash is zero, a flow dissection is performed.
Since all TCP skbs sent from ESTABLISH state inherit their
skb->hash from sk->sk_txhash, we better keep a copy

After this patch, ACK or RST packets sent on behalf of

32-bits for alu32 ops, from Björn and Luke with selftests covering all
relevant BPF alu ops from Björn and Jiong.
2) Two fixes for UDP BPF reuseport that avoid calling the program in case of
__udp6_lib_err and UDP GRO which broke reuseport_select_sock() assumption
that skb->data is pointing to transport header, from Martin.
3) Two fixes for BPF sockmap: a use-after-free from sleep in psock's backlog
workqueue, and a missing restore of sk_write_space when psock gets dropped,
from Jakub and John.
4) Fix unconnected UDP sendmsg hook API which is insufficient as-is since it

receive, from Daniel.
5) Fix an out-of-bounds read in __bpf_skc_lookup which in case of AF_INET6
fails to verify that the length of the tuple is long enough, from Lorenz.
6) Fix libbpf's libbpf__probe_raw_btf to return an fd instead of 0/1 (for
{un,}successful probe) as that is expected to be propagated as an fd to
load_sk_storage_btf() and thus closing the wrong descriptor otherwise,
from Michal.
7) Fix bpftool's JSON output for the case when a lookup fails, from Krzesimir.
8) Minor misc fixes in docs, samples and selftests, from various others.

When fixing the skb leak introduced by the conversion to rbtree, I
forgot about the special case of duplicate fragments. The condition
under the 'insert_error' label isn't effective anymore as
nf_ct_frg6_gather() doesn't override the returned value anymore. So
duplicate fragments now get NF_DROP verdict.
To accept duplicate fragments again, handle them specially as soon as
inet_frag_queue_insert() reports them. Return -EINPROGRESS which will
translate to NF_STOLEN verdict, like any accepted fragment. However,
such packets don't carry any new information and aren't queued, so we
just drop them immediately.

Intention of cgroup bind/connect/sendmsg BPF hooks is to act transparently
to applications as also stated in original motivation in 7828f20e37 ("Merge
branch 'bpf-cgroup-bind-connect'"). When recently integrating the latter
two hooks into Cilium to enable host based load-balancing with Kubernetes,
I ran into the issue that pods couldn't start up as DNS got broken. Kubernetes
typically sets up DNS as a service and is thus subject to load-balancing.
Upon further debugging, it turns out that the cgroupv2 sendmsg BPF hooks API
is currently insufficient and thus not usable as-is for standard applications
shipped with most distros. To break down the issue we ran into with a simple
example:
# cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 147.75.207.207
nameserver 147.75.207.208
For the purpose of a simple test, we set up above IPs as service IPs and
transparently redirect traffic to a different DNS backend server for that
node:
# cilium service list
ID Frontend Backend
1 147.75.207.207:53 1 => 8.8.8.8:53
2 147.75.207.208:53 1 => 8.8.8.8:53
The attached BPF program is basically selecting one of the backends if the
service IP/port matches on the cgroup hook. DNS breaks here, because the
hooks are not transparent enough to applications which have built-in msg_name
address checks:
# nslookup 1.1.1.1
;; reply from unexpected source: 8.8.8.8#53, expected 147.75.207.207#53
;; reply from unexpected source: 8.8.8.8#53, expected 147.75.207.208#53

[...]
; <<>> DiG 9.11.3-1ubuntu1.7-Ubuntu <<>> 1.1.1.1
;; global options: +cmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
For comparison, if none of the service IPs is used, and we tell nslookup
to use 8.8.8.8 directly it works just fine, of course:
# nslookup 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8
1.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa name = one.one.one.one.
In order to fix this and thus act more transparent to the application,
this needs reverse translation on recvmsg() side. A minimal fix for this
API is to add similar recvmsg() hooks behind the BPF cgroups static key
such that the program can track state and replace the current sockaddr_in{,6}
with the original service IP. From BPF side, this basically tracks the
service tuple plus socket cookie in an LRU map where the reverse NAT can
then be retrieved via map value as one example. Side-note: the BPF cgroups
static key should be converted to a per-hook static key in future.
Same example after this fix:
# cilium service list
ID Frontend Backend
1 147.75.207.207:53 1 => 8.8.8.8:53
2 147.75.207.208:53 1 => 8.8.8.8:53
Lookups work fine now:
# nslookup 1.1.1.1
1.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa name = one.one.one.one.

In order to be flexible and to have same semantics as in sendmsg BPF
programs, we only allow return codes in [1,1] range. In the sendmsg case
the program is called if msg->msg_name is present which can be the case
in both, connected and unconnected UDP.
The former only relies on the sockaddr_in{,6} passed via connect(2) if
passed msg->msg_name was NULL. Therefore, on recvmsg side, we act in similar
way to call into the BPF program whenever a non-NULL msg->msg_name was
passed independent of sk->sk_state being TCP_ESTABLISHED or not. Note
that for TCP case, the msg->msg_name is ignored in the regular recvmsg
path and therefore not relevant.
For the case of ip{,v6}_recv_error() paths, picked up via MSG_ERRQUEUE,
the hook is not called. This is intentional as it aligns with the same
semantics as in case of TCP cgroup BPF hooks right now. This might be
better addressed in future through a different bpf_attach_type such
that this case can be distinguished from the regular recvmsg paths,
for example.

setsockopt(s, SOL_IPV6, IPV6_HDRINCL, 1);
sendto(ipv6_icmp6_packet, addr); /* returns -1, errno = EFAULT */
The IPv4 equivalent code works. A workaround is to use IPPROTO_RAW
instead of IPPROTO_ICMPV6.
The failure happens because 2 bytes are eaten from the msghdr by
rawv6_probe_proto_opt() starting from commit 19e3c66b52 ("ipv6

Add struct nexthop and nh_list list_head to fib6_info. nh_list is the
fib6_info side of the nexthop <-> fib_info relationship. Since a fib6_info
referencing a nexthop object can not have 'sibling' entries (the old way
of doing multipath routes), the nh_list is a union with fib6_siblings.
Add f6i_list list_head to 'struct nexthop' to track fib6_info entries
using a nexthop instance. Update __remove_nexthop_fib to walk f6_list
and delete fib entries using the nexthop.
Add a few nexthop helpers for use when a nexthop is added to fib6_info:
- nexthop_fib6_nh - return first fib6_nh in a nexthop object
- fib6_info_nh_dev moved to nexthop.h and updated to use nexthop_fib6_nh
if the fib6_info references a nexthop object
- nexthop_path_fib6_result - similar to ipv4, select a path within a
multipath nexthop object. If the nexthop is a blackhole, set
fib6_result type to RTN_BLACKHOLE, and set the REJECT flag
Update the fib6_info references to check for nh and take a different path
as needed:
- rt6_qualify_for_ecmp - if a fib entry uses a nexthop object it can NOT
be coalesced with other fib entries into a multipath route
- rt6_duplicate_nexthop - use nexthop_cmp if either fib6_info references
a nexthop
- addrconf (host routes), RA's and info entries (anything configured via
ndisc) does not use nexthop objects
- fib6_info_destroy_rcu - put reference to nexthop object
- fib6_purge_rt - drop fib6_info from f6i_list
- fib6_select_path - update to use the new nexthop_path_fib6_result when
fib entry uses a nexthop object
- rt6_device_match - update to catch use of nexthop object as a blackhole
and set fib6_type and flags.
- ip6_route_info_create - don't add space for fib6_nh if fib entry is
going to reference a nexthop object, take a reference to nexthop object,
disallow use of source routing
- rt6_nlmsg_size - add space for RTA_NH_ID
- add rt6_fill_node_nexthop to add nexthop data on a dump
As with ipv4, most of the changes push existing code into the else branch
of whether the fib entry uses a nexthop object.
Update the nexthop code to walk f6i_list on a nexthop deleted to remove
fib entries referencing it.

A recent commit had an unintended side effect with reject routes:
rt6i_pcpu is expected to always be initialized for all fib6_info except
the null entry. The commit mentioned below skips it for reject routes
and ends up leaking references to the loopback device. For example,
ip netns add foo
ip -netns foo li set lo up
ip -netns foo -6 ro add blackhole 2001:db8:1::1
ip netns exec foo ping6 2001:db8:1::1
ip netns del foo
ends up spewing:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 3
The fib_nh_common_init is not needed for reject routes (no ipv4 caching
or encaps), so move the alloc_percpu_gfp after it and adjust the goto label.

With commit 997dd96471 ("net: IP6 defrag: use rbtrees in
nf_conntrack_reasm.c"), nf_ct_frag6_reasm() is now called from
nf_ct_frag6_queue(). With this change, nf_ct_frag6_queue() can fail
after the skb has been added to the fragment queue and
nf_ct_frag6_gather() was adapted to handle this case.
But nf_ct_frag6_queue() can still fail before the fragment has been
queued. nf_ct_frag6_gather() can't handle this case anymore, because it
has no way to know if nf_ct_frag6_queue() queued the fragment before
failing. If it didn't, the skb is lost as the error code is overwritten
with -EINPROGRESS.
Fix this by setting -EINPROGRESS directly in nf_ct_frag6_queue(), so
that nf_ct_frag6_gather() can propagate the error as is.

__udp6_lib_err() may be called when handling icmpv6 message. For example,
the icmpv6 toobig(type=2). __udp6_lib_lookup() is then called
which may call reuseport_select_sock(). reuseport_select_sock() will
call into a bpf_prog (if there is one).
reuseport_select_sock() is expecting the skb->data pointing to the
transport header (udphdr in this case). For example, run_bpf_filter()
is pulling the transport header.
However, in the __udp6_lib_err() path, the skb->data is pointing to the
ipv6hdr instead of the udphdr.
One option is to pull and push the ipv6hdr in __udp6_lib_err().
Instead of doing this, this patch follows how the original
commit 538950a1b7 ("soreuseport: setsockopt SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_[CE]BPF")
was done in IPv4, which has passed a NULL skb pointer to
reuseport_select_sock().

TCP zerocopy takes a uarg reference for every skb, plus one for the
tcp_sendmsg_locked datapath temporarily, to avoid reaching refcnt zero
as it builds, sends and frees skbs inside its inner loop.
UDP and RAW zerocopy do not send inside the inner loop so do not need
the extra sock_zerocopy_get + sock_zerocopy_put pair. Commit
52900d22288ed ("udp: elide zerocopy operation in hot path") introduced
extra_uref to pass the initial reference taken in sock_zerocopy_alloc
to the first generated skb.
But, sock_zerocopy_realloc takes this extra reference at the start of
every call. With MSG_MORE, no new skb may be generated to attach the
extra_uref to, so refcnt is incorrectly 2 with only one skb.
Do not take the extra ref if uarg && !tcp, which implies MSG_MORE.
Update extra_uref accordingly.
This conditional assignment triggers a false positive may be used
uninitialized warning, so have to initialize extra_uref at define.

This patch exposes a new API to refragment a skbuff. This allows you to
split either a linear skbuff or to force the refragmentation of an
existing fraglist using a different mtu. The API consists of:
* ip6_frag_init(), that initializes the internal state of the transformer.
* ip6_frag_next(), that allows you to fetch the next fragment. This function
internally allocates the skbuff that represents the fragment, it pushes
the IPv6 header, and it also copies the payload for each fragment.
The ip6_frag_state object stores the internal state of the splitter.
This code has been extracted from ip6_fragment(). Symbols are also
exported to allow to reuse this iterator from the bridge codepath to
build its own refragmentation routine by reusing the existing codebase.

This patch adds the skbuff fraglist split iterator. This API provides an
iterator to transform the fraglist into single skbuff objects, it
consists of:
* ip6_fraglist_init(), that initializes the internal state of the
fraglist iterator.
* ip6_fraglist_prepare(), that restores the IPv6 header on the fragment.
* ip6_fraglist_next(), that retrieves the fragment from the fraglist and
updates the internal state of the iterator to point to the next
fragment in the fraglist.

inet_frags_fini() is dismantling a kmem_cache, that might be needed

In function ip6_ra_control(), the pointer new_ra is allocated a memory
space via kmalloc(). And it is used in the following codes. However,
when there is a memory allocation error, kmalloc() fails. Thus null
pointer dereference may happen. And it will cause the kernel to crash.
Therefore, we should check the return value and handle the error.

Move fib6_nh to the end of fib6_info and make it an array of
size 0. Pass a flag to fib6_info_alloc indicating if the

Similar to the pcpu routes exceptions are really per nexthop, so move
rt6i_exception_bucket from fib6_info to fib6_nh.
To avoid additional increases to the size of fib6_nh for a 1-bit flag,
use the lowest bit in the allocated memory pointer for the flushed flag.
Add helpers for retrieving the bucket pointer to mask off the flag.
The cleanup of the exception bucket is moved to fib6_nh_release.
fib6_nh_flush_exceptions can now be called from 2 contexts:
1. deleting a fib entry
2. deleting a fib6_nh
For 1., fib6_nh_flush_exceptions is called for a specific fib6_info that
is getting deleted. All exceptions in the cache using the entry are
deleted. For 2, the fib6_nh itself is getting destroyed so
fib6_nh_flush_exceptions is called for a NULL fib6_info which means
flush all entries.
The pmtu.sh selftest exercises the affected code paths - from creating
exceptions to cleaning them up on device delete. All tests pass without
any rcu locking or memleak warnings.

Before moving exception bucket from fib6_info to fib6_nh, refactor
rt6_flush_exceptions, rt6_remove_exception_rt, rt6_mtu_change_route,
and rt6_update_exception_stamp_rt. In all 3 cases, move the primary
logic into a new helper that starts with fib6_nh_. The latter 3
functions still take a fib6_info; this will be changed to fib6_nh
in the next patch.
In the case of rt6_mtu_change_route, move the fib6_metric_locked
out as a standalone check - no need to call the new function if
the fib entry has the mtu locked. Also, add fib6_info to
rt6_mtu_change_arg as a way of passing the fib entry to the new
helper.
No functional change intended. The goal here is to make the next
patch easier to review by moving existing lookup logic for each to
new helpers.

Move the existing pcpu walk in fib6_drop_pcpu_from to a new
helper, __fib6_drop_pcpu_from, that can be invoked per fib6_nh with a
reference to the from entries that need to be evicted. If the passed
in 'from' is non-NULL then only entries associated with that fib6_info
are removed (e.g., case where fib entry is deleted); if the 'from' is
NULL are entries are flushed (e.g., fib6_nh is deleted).
For fib6_info entries with builtin fib6_nh (ie., current code) there
is no change in behavior.

rt6_info are specific instances of a fib entry and are tied to a
device and gateway - ie., a nexthop. Before nexthop objects, IPv6 fib
entries have separate fib6_info for each nexthop in a multipath route,
so the location of the pcpu cache in the fib6_info struct worked.
However, with nexthop objects a fib6_info can point to a set of nexthops
(yet another alignment of ipv6 with ipv4). Accordingly, the pcpu
cache needs to be moved to the fib6_nh struct so the cached entries
are local to the nexthop specification used to create the rt6_info.
Initialization and free of the pcpu entries moved to fib6_nh_init and
fib6_nh_release.
Change in location only, from fib6_info down to fib6_nh; no other
functional change intended.

IPv6 redirect is broken for VRF. __ip6_route_redirect walks the FIB
entries looking for an exact match on ifindex. With VRF the flowi6_oif
is updated by l3mdev_update_flow to the l3mdev index and the
FLOWI_FLAG_SKIP_NH_OIF set in the flags to tell the lookup to skip the
device match. For redirects the device match is requires so use that

Here are series of patches that add SPDX tags to different kernel files,
based on two different things:
- SPDX entries are added to a bunch of files that we missed a year ago
that do not have any license information at all.
These were either missed because the tool saw the MODULE_LICENSE()
tag, or some EXPORT_SYMBOL tags, and got confused and thought the
file had a real license, or the files have been added since the last
big sweep, or they were Makefile/Kconfig files, which we didn't
touch last time.
- Add GPL-2.0-only or GPL-2.0-or-later tags to files where our scan
tools can determine the license text in the file itself. Where this
happens, the license text is removed, in order to cut down on the
700+ different ways we have in the kernel today, in a quest to get
rid of all of these.
These patches have been out for review on the linux-spdx@vger mailing
list, and while they were created by automatic tools, they were
hand-verified by a bunch of different people, all whom names are on the
patches are reviewers.
The reason for these "large" patches is if we were to continue to
progress at the current rate of change in the kernel, adding license
tags to individual files in different subsystems, we would be finished
in about 10 years at the earliest.
There will be more series of these types of patches coming over the next
few weeks as the tools and reviewers crunch through the more "odd"
variants of how to say "GPLv2" that developers have come up with over
the years, combined with other fun oddities (GPL + a BSD disclaimer?)
that are being unearthed, with the goal for the whole kernel to be
cleaned up.
These diffstats are not small, 3840 files are touched, over 10k lines
removed in just 24 patches.

There will be more series of these types of patches coming over the

NFTA_FIB_F_PRESENT flag was not always honored since eval functions did
not call nft_fib_store_result in all cases.
Given that in all callsites there is a struct net_device pointer
available which holds the interface data to be stored in destination
register, simplify nft_fib_store_result() to just accept that pointer
instead of the nft_pktinfo pointer and interface index. This also
allows to drop the index to interface lookup previously needed to get
the name associated with given index.

When inserting route cache into the exception table, the key is
generated with both src_addr and dest_addr with src addr routing.
However, current logic always assumes the src_addr used to generate the
key is a /128 host address. This is not true in the following scenarios:
1. When the route is a gateway route or does not have next hop.
(rt6_is_gw_or_nonexthop() == false)
2. When calling ip6_rt_cache_alloc(), saddr is passed in as NULL.
This means, when looking for a route cache in the exception table, we
have to do the lookup twice: first time with the passed in /128 host
address, second time with the src_addr stored in fib6_info.
This solves the pmtu discovery issue reported by Mikael Magnusson where
a route cache with a lower mtu info is created for a gateway route with
src addr. However, the lookup code is not able to find this route cache.

At ipv6 route dismantle, fib6_drop_pcpu_from() is responsible
for finding all percpu routes and set their ->from pointer
to NULL, so that fib6_ref can reach its expected value (1).
The problem right now is that other cpus can still catch the
route being deleted, since there is no rcu grace period
between the route deletion and call to fib6_drop_pcpu_from()
This can leak the fib6 and associated resources, since no
notifier will take care of removing the last reference(s).
I decided to add another boolean (fib6_destroying) instead
of reusing/renaming exception_bucket_flushed to ease stable backports,
and properly document the memory barriers used to implement this fix.
This patch has been co-developped with Wei Wang.

It is a followup after the fix in
commit 9c69a13205 ("route: Avoid crash from dereferencing NULL rt->from")
rt6_do_redirect():
1. NULL checking is needed on rt->from because a parallel
fib6_info delete could happen that sets rt->from to NULL.
(e.g. rt6_remove_exception() and fib6_drop_pcpu_from()).
2. fib6_info_hold() is not enough. Same reason as (1).
Meaning, holding dst->__refcnt cannot ensure
rt->from is not NULL or rt->from->fib6_ref is not 0.
Instead of using fib6_info_hold_safe() which ip6_rt_cache_alloc()
is already doing, this patch chooses to extend the rcu section
to keep "from" dereference-able after checking for NULL.
inet6_rtm_getroute():
1. NULL checking is also needed on rt->from for a similar reason.
Note that inet6_rtm_getroute() is using RTNL_FLAG_DOIT_UNLOCKED.

When there is no route to an IPv6 dest addr, skb_dst(skb) points
to loopback dev in the case of that the IP6CB(skb)->iif is
enslaved to a vrf. This causes Ip6InNoRoutes to be incremented on the
loopback dev. This also causes the lookup to fail on icmpv6_send() and
the dest unreachable to not sent and Ip6OutNoRoutes gets incremented on
the loopback dev.
To reproduce:
* Gateway configuration:
ip link add dev vrf_258 type vrf table 258
ip link set dev enp0s9 master vrf_258
ip addr add 66:1/64 dev enp0s9
ip -6 route add unreachable default metric 8192 table 258
sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding=1
sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.enp0s9.forwarding=1
* Sender configuration:
ip addr add 66::2/64 dev enp0s9
ip -6 route add default via 66::1
and ping 67::1 for example from the sender.
Fix this by counting on the original netdev and reset the skb dst to
force a fresh lookup.
v2: Fix typo of destination address in the repro steps.
v3: Simplify the loopback check (per David Ahern) and use reverse
Christmas tree format (per David Miller).

Add options to strictly validate messages and dump messages,
sometimes perhaps validating dump messages non-strictly may
be required, so add an option for that as well.
Since none of this can really be applied to existing commands,
set the options everwhere using the following spatch:
@@
identifier ops;
expression X;
@@
struct genl_ops ops[] = {
...,
{
.cmd = X,
+ .validate = GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_STRICT | GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_DUMP,

We currently have two levels of strict validation:
1) liberal (default)
- undefined (type >= max) & NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
- garbage at end of message accepted
2) strict (opt-in)
- NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
Split out parsing strictness into four different options:
* TRAILING - check that there's no trailing data after parsing
attributes (in message or nested)
* MAXTYPE - reject attrs > max known type
* UNSPEC - reject attributes with NLA_UNSPEC policy entries
* STRICT_ATTRS - strictly validate attribute size
The default for future things should be *everything*.
The current *_strict() is a combination of TRAILING and MAXTYPE,
and is renamed to _deprecated_strict().
The current regular parsing has none of this, and is renamed to
*_parse_deprecated().
Additionally it allows us to selectively set one of the new flags
even on old policies. Notably, the UNSPEC flag could be useful in
this case, since it can be arranged (by filling in the policy) to
not be an incompatible userspace ABI change, but would then going
forward prevent forgetting attribute entries. Similar can apply
to the POLICY flag.
We end up with the following renames:
* nla_parse -> nla_parse_deprecated
* nla_parse_strict -> nla_parse_deprecated_strict
* nlmsg_parse -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated
* nlmsg_parse_strict -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated_strict
* nla_parse_nested -> nla_parse_nested_deprecated
* nla_validate_nested -> nla_validate_nested_deprecated

For this patch, don't actually add the strict, non-renamed versions
yet so that it breaks compile if I get it wrong.
Also, while at it, make nla_validate and nla_parse go down to a
common __nla_validate_parse() function to avoid code duplication.
Ultimately, this allows us to have very strict validation for every
new caller of nla_parse()/nlmsg_parse() etc as re-introduced in the
next patch, while existing things will continue to work as is.
In effect then, this adds fully strict validation for any new command.

Even if the NLA_F_NESTED flag was introduced more than 11 years ago, most
netlink based interfaces (including recently added ones) are still not
setting it in kernel generated messages. Without the flag, message parsers
not aware of attribute semantics (e.g. wireshark dissector or libmnl's
mnl_nlmsg_fprintf()) cannot recognize nested attributes and won't display
the structure of their contents.
Unfortunately we cannot just add the flag everywhere as there may be
userspace applications which check nlattr::nla_type directly rather than
through a helper masking out the flags. Therefore the patch renames
nla_nest_start() to nla_nest_start_noflag() and introduces nla_nest_start()
as a wrapper adding NLA_F_NESTED. The calls which add NLA_F_NESTED manually
are rewritten to use nla_nest_start().

nhc_flags holds the RTNH_F flags for a given nexthop (fib{6}_nh).
All of the RTNH_F_ flags fit in an unsigned char, and since the API to
userspace (rtnh_flags and lower byte of rtm_flags) is 1 byte it can not
grow. Make nhc_flags in fib_nh_common an unsigned char and shrink the
size of the struct by 8, from 56 to 48 bytes.
Update the flags arguments for up netdevice events and fib_nexthop_info
which determines the RTNH_F flags to return on a dump/event. The RTNH_F
flags are passed in the lower byte of rtm_flags which is an unsigned int
so use a temp variable for the flags to fib_nexthop_info and combine

The SIOCGSTAMP/SIOCGSTAMPNS ioctl commands are implemented by many
socket protocol handlers, and all of those end up calling the same
sock_get_timestamp()/sock_get_timestampns() helper functions, which
results in a lot of duplicate code.
With the introduction of 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures, this
gets worse, as we then need four different ioctl commands in each
socket protocol implementation.
To simplify that, let's add a new .gettstamp() operation in
struct proto_ops, and move ioctl implementation into the common
sock_ioctl()/compat_sock_ioctl_trans() functions that these all go
through.
We can reuse the sock_get_timestamp() implementation, but generalize
it so it can deal with both native and compat mode, as well as
timeval and timespec structures.

To make ICMPv6 closer to ICMPv4, add ratemask parameter. Since the ICMP
message types use larger numeric values, a simple bitmask doesn't fit.
I use large bitmap. The input and output are the in form of list of
ranges. Set the default to rate limit all error messages but Packet Too
Big. For Packet Too Big, use ratemask instead of hard-coded.
There are functions where icmpv6_xrlim_allow() and icmpv6_global_allow()
aren't called. This patch only adds them to icmpv6_echo_reply().
Rate limiting error messages is mandated by RFC 4443 but RFC 4890 says
that it is also acceptable to rate limit informational messages. Thus,
I removed the current hard-coded behavior of icmpv6_mask_allow() that
doesn't rate limit informational messages.
v2: Add dummy function proc_do_large_bitmap() if CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL
isn't defined, expand the description in ip-sysctl.txt and remove
unnecessary conditional before kfree().
v3: Inline the bitmap instead of dynamically allocated. Still is a
pointer to it is needed because of the way proc_do_large_bitmap work.

Disabling IPv6 on an interface removes existing entries but nothing prevents
new entries from being manually added. To that end, add a new neigh_table
operation, allow_add, that is called on RTM_NEWNEIGH to see if neighbor
entries are allowed on a given device. If IPv6 is disabled on the device,
allow_add returns false and passes a message back to the user via extack.
$ echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth1/disable_ipv6
$ ip -6 neigh add fe80::4c88:bff:fe21:2704 dev eth1 lladdr de:ad:be:ef:01:01

Add the fib6_flags and fib6_type to fib6_result. Update the lookup helpers
to set them and update post fib lookup users to use the version from the
result.
This allows nexthop objects to have blackhole nexthop.

Change fib6_lookup and fib6_table_lookup to take a fib6_result and set
f6i and nh rather than returning a fib6_info. For now both always
return 0.
A later patch set can make these more like the IPv4 counterparts and
return EINVAL, EACCESS, etc based on fib6_type.

Pass fib6_result to rt6_select. Instead of returning the fib entry, it
will set f6i and nh based on the lookup.
find_rr_leaf is changed to remove the match option in favor of taking
fib6_result and having __find_rr_leaf set f6i in the result.
In the process, update fib6_info references in __find_rr_leaf to f6i names.

Change ip6_mtu_from_fib6 and fib6_mtu to take a fib6_result over a
fib6_info. Update both to use the fib6_nh from fib6_result.
Since the signature of ip6_mtu_from_fib6 is already changing, add const
to daddr and saddr.

Update rt6_insert_exception to take a fib6_result over a fib6_info.

Add 'struct fib6_result' to hold the fib entry and fib6_nh from a fib
lookup as separate entries, similar to what IPv4 now has with fib_result.
Rename fib6_multipath_select to fib6_select_path, pass fib6_result to
it, and set f6i and nh in the result once a path selection is done.
Call fib6_select_path unconditionally for path selection which means
moving the sibling and oif check to fib6_select_path. To handle the two
different call paths (2 only call multipath_select if flowi6_oif == 0 and
the other always calls it), add a new have_oif_match that controls the
sibling walk if relevant.
Update callers of fib6_multipath_select accordingly and have them use the
fib6_info and fib6_nh from the result.
This is needed for multipath nexthop objects where a single f6i can
point to multiple fib6_nh (similar to IPv4).
