Printk modifier %pfw is used to print the full path of the device name.
This is obtained device by device until a device no longer has a parent.
On ACPI getting the parent fwnode is done by calling acpi_get_parent()
which tries to down() a semaphore. But local IRQs are now disabled in
vprintk_store() before the mutex is acquired. This is obviously a problem.
Luckily struct device, embedded in struct acpi_device, has a parent field
already. Use that field to get the parent instead of relying on
acpi_get_parent().

SGX EPC pages do not have a "struct page" associated with them so the
pfn_valid() sanity check fails and results in a warning message to
the console.
Add an additional check to skip the warning if the address of the error
is in an SGX EPC page.

SGX reserved memory does not appear in the standard address maps.
Add hook to call into the SGX code to check if an address is located
in SGX memory.
There are other challenges in injecting errors into SGX. Update the
documentation with a sequence of operations to inject.

During NUMA init, CXL memory defined in the SRAT Memory Affinity
subtable may be assigned to a NUMA node. Since there is no
requirement that the SRAT be comprehensive for CXL memory another
mechanism is needed to assign NUMA nodes to CXL memory not identified
in the SRAT.
Use the CXL Fixed Memory Window Structure (CFMWS) of the ACPI CXL
Early Discovery Table (CEDT) to find all CXL memory ranges.
Create a NUMA node for each CFMWS that is not already assigned to
a NUMA node. Add a memblk attaching its host physical address
range to the node.
Note that these ranges may not actually map any memory at boot time.
They may describe persistent capacity or may be present to enable
hot-plug.
Consumers can use phys_to_target_node() to discover the NUMA node.

In preparation for drivers reusing the core table parsing
infrastructure, arrange for handlers to take a context argument. This
allows driver table parsing to wrap ACPI table entries in
driver-specific data.
The first consumer of this infrastructure is the CEDT parsing that
happens in the cxl_acpi driver, add a conditional
(CONFIG_ACPI_TABLE_LIB=y) export of a acpi_table_parse_cedt() helper for
this case.

The NFIT driver and now the CXL ACPI driver have both open-coded ACPI
table parsing. Before another instance is added arrange for the core
ACPI sub-table parsing to be optionally available to drivers via the
CONFIG_ACPI_TABLE_LIB symbol. If no drivers select the symbol then the
infrastructure reverts back to being tagged __init via the
__init_or_acpilib annotation.
For now, only tag the core sub-table routines and data that the CEDT parsing in
the cxl_acpi driver would want to reuse, a CEDT parsing helper is added
in a later change.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is a Cherry Trail based x86 tablet which does not
use the i915's driver backlight control support:
i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm:intel_panel_setup_backlight [i915]] no backlight present per VBT
Like all Cherry Trail devices the ACPI tables on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2
contain a broken ACPI-video implementation which causes 6 different
acpi_video backlights to get registered when used.
The lack of the i915 driver registering a BACKLIGHT_RAW (aka native) type
backlight causes acpi_video_get_backlight_type() to pick the broken
acpi_video backlight code as the backlight driver to use.
There actually is a separate lp8556 backlight controller connected
over I2C which gets registered as a BACKLIGHT_PLATFORM (aka vendor).
Add a quirk to force acpi_video_get_backlight_type() to return
acpi_backlight_vendor, so that the broken acpi_video backlight
interfaces do not get registered.

The .ident field of the dmi_system_id structs in the
video_detect_dmi_table[] is not used by the code.
Change all .ident = "..." assignments to comments, this reduces the
size of video_detect.o / video.ko by about 1500 bytes.

The handling of PMIC register reads through writing 0 to address 4
of the OpRegion is wrong. Instead of returning the read value
through the value64, which is a no-op for function == ACPI_WRITE calls,
store the value and then on a subsequent function == ACPI_READ with
address == 3 (the address for the value field of the OpRegion)
return the stored value.
This has been tested on a Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and makes the ACPI battery dev
there mostly functional (unfortunately there are still other issues).

Add a convenience function to tell whether a device is in D0 state,
primarily for use in drivers' probe or remove functions on busses where
the custom is to power on the device for the duration of both.
Returns false on non-ACPI systems.

Now that we have all the shared memory region information populated in
the pcc_mbox_chan, let us propagate the pointer to the same as the
return value to pcc_mbox_request channel.
This eliminates the need for the individual users of PCC mailbox to
parse the PCCT subspace entries and fetch the shmem information. This
also eliminates the need for PCC mailbox controller to set con_priv to
PCCT subspace entries. This is required as con_priv is private to the
controller driver to attach private data associated with the channel and
not meant to be used by the mailbox client/users.
Let us convert all the users of pcc_mbox_{request,free}_channel to use
new interface.

When injecting an error into the platform, the OSPM executes an
EXECUTE_OPERATION action to instruct the platform to begin the injection
operation. And then, the OSPM busy waits for a while by continually
executing CHECK_BUSY_STATUS action until the platform indicates that the
operation is complete. More specifically, the platform is limited to
respond within 1 millisecond right now. This is too strict for some
platforms.
For example, in Arm platform, when injecting a Processor Correctable error,
the OSPM will warn:
Firmware does not respond in time.
And a message is printed on the console:
echo: write error: Input/output error
We observe that the waiting time for DDR error injection is about 10 ms and
that for PCIe error injection is about 500 ms in Arm platform.
In this patch, we relax the response timeout to 1 second.

The Medion s17 series laptops have the same issue on the keyboard
as the s15 series, if skipping to call acpi_get_override_irq(), the
keyboard could work well. So put the DMI info of s17 series in the
IRQ override quirk table as well.

Let GK45 not go into BIOS for determining the AC power state.
The BIOS wrongly returns 0, so hardcode the power state to 1.
The mini PC GK45 by Besstar Tech Lld. (aka Kodlix) just runs
off AC. It does not include any batteries. Nevertheless BIOS
reports AC off:

The memory allocated from memblock is registered with kmemleak, but if
it is marked MEMBLOCK_NOMAP it won't have linear map entries so an
attempt to scan such areas will fault.
Ideally, memblock_mark_nomap() would inform kmemleak to ignore
MEMBLOCK_NOMAP memory, but it can be called before kmemleak interfaces
operating on physical addresses can use __va() conversion.
Make sure that functions that mark allocated memory as MEMBLOCK_NOMAP
take care of informing kmemleak to ignore such memory.

If acpi_device_sleep_wake() called by acpi_enable_wakeup_device_power()
returns an error which means that the evaluation of either _DWS or
_PSW has failed, turn off all of the device's wakeup power resources
to be consistent with the clearing of dev->wakeup.prepare_count.

If an ACPI wakeup power resource is shared between multiple devices,
it may not be managed correctly.
Suppose, for example, that two devices, A and B, share a wakeup power
resource P whose wakeup_enabled flag is 0 initially. Next, suppose
that wakeup power is enabled for A and B, in this order, and disabled
for B. When wakeup power is enabled for A, P will be turned on and
its wakeup_enabled flag will be set. Next, when wakeup power is
enabled for B, P will not be touched, because its wakeup_enabled flag
is set. Now, when wakeup power is disabled for B, P will be turned
off which is incorrect, because A will still need P in order to signal
wakeup.
Moreover, if wakeup power is enabled for A and then disabled for B,
the latter will cause P to be turned off incorrectly (it will be still
needed by A), because acpi_disable_wakeup_device_power() is allowed
to manipulate power resources when the wakeup.prepare_count counter
of the given device is 0.
While the first issue could be addressed by changing the
wakeup_enabled power resource flag into a counter, addressing the
second one requires modifying acpi_disable_wakeup_device_power() to
do nothing when the target device's wakeup.prepare_count reference
counter is zero and that would cause the new counter to be redundant.
Namely, if acpi_disable_wakeup_device_power() is modified as per the
above, every change of the new counter following a wakeup.prepare_count
change would be reflected by the analogous change of the main reference
counter of the given power resource.
Accordingly, modify acpi_disable_wakeup_device_power() to do nothing
when the target device's wakeup.prepare_count reference counter is
zero and drop the power resource wakeup_enabled flag altogether.
While at it, ensure that all of the power resources that can be
turned off will be turned off when disabling device wakeup due to
a power resource manipulation error, to prevent energy from being
wasted.

If an ACPI power resource is found to be "on" during the
initialization of the list of wakeup power resources of a device,
it is reference counted and its wakeup_enabled flag is set, which is
problematic if the deivce in question is the only user of the given
power resource, it is never runtime-suspended and it is not allowed
to wake up the system from sleep, because in that case the given
power resource will stay "on" until the system reboots and energy
will be wasted.
It is better to simply turn off wakeup power resources that are "on"
during the initialization unless their reference counters are not
zero, because that may be the only opportunity to prevent them from
staying in the "on" state all the time.

To avoid situations in which the actual states of certain ACPI power
resources are not known just because they have never been referenced
by any device configuration objects, check the initial states of all
power resources as soon as they are found in the ACPI namespace (and
fall back to turning them on if the state check fails).

In read_domain_devices(), acpi_bus_get_device() is called to obtain
the ACPI device object attached to the given ACPI handle and
subsequently that object is passed to get_device() for reference
counting, but there is a window between the acpi_bus_get_device()
and get_device() calls in which the ACPI device object in question
may go away.
To address this issue, make read_domain_devices() use
acpi_bus_get_acpi_device() to reference count and return the given
ACPI device object in one go and export that function to modules.
While at it, also make read_domain_devices() and
remove_domain_devices() use acpi_dev_put() instead of calling
put_device() directly on the ACPI device objects returned by
acpi_bus_get_acpi_device().

Both ACPI and DT provide the ability to describe additional layers of
topology between that of individual cores and higher level constructs
such as the level at which the last level cache is shared.
In ACPI this can be represented in PPTT as a Processor Hierarchy
Node Structure [1] that is the parent of the CPU cores and in turn
has a parent Processor Hierarchy Nodes Structure representing
a higher level of topology.
For example Kunpeng 920 has 6 or 8 clusters in each NUMA node, and each
cluster has 4 cpus. All clusters share L3 cache data, but each cluster
has local L3 tag. On the other hand, each clusters will share some
internal system bus.

That means spreading tasks among clusters will bring more bandwidth
while packing tasks within one cluster will lead to smaller cache
synchronization latency. So both kernel and userspace will have
a chance to leverage this topology to deploy tasks accordingly to
achieve either smaller cache latency within one cluster or an even
distribution of load among clusters for higher throughput.
This patch exposes cluster topology to both kernel and userspace.
Libraried like hwloc will know cluster by cluster_cpus and related
sysfs attributes. PoC of HWLOC support at [2].
Note this patch only handle the ACPI case.
Special consideration is needed for SMT processors, where it is
necessary to move 2 levels up the hierarchy from the leaf nodes
(thus skipping the processor core level).
Note that arm64 / ACPI does not provide any means of identifying
a die level in the topology but that may be unrelate to the cluster
level.

The ACPI_HANDLE() macro returns the ACPI handle of the ACPI device
object returned by the ACPI_COMPANION() macro, so it is more
straightforward to call the latter directly instead of passing
the handle produced by the former to acpi_bus_get_device().
Modify the code accordingly (no intentional functional impact).

On some systems the ACPI namespace contains device objects that are
not used in certain configurations of the system. If they start off
in the D0 power state configuration, they will stay in it until the
system reboots, because of the lack of any mechanism possibly causing
their configuration to change. If that happens, they may prevent
some power resources from being turned off or generally they may
prevent the platform from getting into the deepest low-power states
thus causing some energy to be wasted.
Address this issue by changing the configuration of unused ACPI
device objects to the D3cold power state one after carrying out
the ACPI-based enumeration of devices.

Some buggy firmware and/or brand new batteries can support a charge that's
slightly over the reported design capacity. In such cases, the kernel will
report to userspace that the charging state of the battery is "Unknown",
when in reality the battery charge is "Full", at least from the design
capacity point of view. Make the fallback condition accepts capacities
over the designed capacity so userspace knows that is full.

During wakeup from system-wide sleep states, acpi_get_sleep_type_data()
is called and it tries to get memory from the slab allocator in order
to evaluate a control method, but if KFENCE is enabled in the kernel,
the memory allocation attempt causes an IRQ work to be queued and a
self-IPI to be sent to the CPU running the code which requires the
memory controller to be ready, so if that happens too early in the
wakeup path, it doesn't work.
Prevent that from taking place by calling acpi_get_sleep_type_data()
for S0 upfront, when preparing to enter a given sleep state, and
saving the data obtained by it for later use during system wakeup.

Get rid of acpi_pci_osc_support() and check for _OSC supported features
directly in acpi_pci_osc_control_set(). There is no point in doing an
unconditional _OSC query with control=0 even when the kernel later wants to
take control over more features.
This saves one _OSC query and simplifies the code by getting rid of the
acpi_pci_osc_support() function. As a side effect, the !control checks in
acpi_pci_query_osc() can also be removed.

When ACPI NFIT table is failing to populate correct numa information
on arm64, dax_kmem will get NUMA_NO_NODE from the NFIT driver.
Without this patch, pmem can't be probed as RAM devices on arm64 guest:

Notice that it is not necessary to look for the "ACPI bus type" of
the device in acpi_device_notify() if the device's ACPI companion
is set upfront, so modify the code to do that lookup only if it is
necessary to find the ACPI companion.
Also notice that if the device's ACPI companion is not set upfront
in acpi_device_notify(), the device cannot be either a PCI one or a
platform one, so check for these bus types only if the device's
ACPI companion is set.

The acpi_pci_bus structure was used primarily for running
acpi_pci_find_companion() during PCI device objects registration,
but after commit 375553a932 ("PCI: Setup ACPI fwnode early and at
the same time with OF") that function is called by pci_setup_device()
via pci_set_acpi_fwnode(), which happens before calling
pci_device_add() on the new PCI device object, so its ACPI companion
has been set already when acpi_device_notify() runs and it will never
call ->find_companion() from acpi_pci_bus.
For this reason, modify acpi_device_notify() and
acpi_device_notify_remove() to call pci_acpi_setup() and
pci_acpi_cleanup(), respectively, directly on PCI device objects
and drop acpi_pci_bus altogether.
While at it, notice that pci_acpi_setup() and pci_acpi_cleanup()
can obtain the ACPI companion pointer, which is guaranteed to not
be NULL, from their callers and modify them to work that way so
as to reduce the number of redundant checks somewhat.

When some cores are disabled on AMD platforms, the system will no longer
be able to enter suspend-to-idle s0ix.
Update to allow playing dead in C3 state so that the CPUs can enter the

The memory semantics added in commit 437b38c511 causes SystemMemory
Operation region, whose address range is not described in the EFI memory
map to be mapped as NormalNC memory on arm64 platforms (through
acpi_os_map_memory() in acpi_ex_system_memory_space_handler()).
This triggers the following abort on an ARM64 Ampere eMAG machine,
because presumably the physical address range area backing the Opregion
does not support NormalNC memory attributes driven on the bus.

is no way for us to determine the memory attributes to use to map it -
defaulting to NormalNC does not work (and it is not correct on a memory
region that may have read side-effects) and therefore commit
437b38c511 should be reverted, which means reverting back to the
original behavior whereby address ranges that are mapped using
acpi_os_map_memory() default to the safe devicenGnRnE attributes on
ARM64 if the mapped address range is not defined in the EFI memory map.

After the commit 0ec4e55e9f ("ACPI: resources: Add checks for ACPI
IRQ override") is reverted, the keyboard on Medion laptops can't
work again.
To fix the keyboard issue, add a DMI-based override check that will
not affect other machines along the lines of prt_quirks[] in
drivers/acpi/pci_irq.c.
If similar issues are seen on other platforms, the quirk table could
be expanded in the future.

Let's group all memory we add for a single memory device - we want a
single node for that (which also seems to be the sane thing to do).
We won't care for now about memory that was already added to the system
(e.g., via e820) -- usually *all* memory of a memory device was already
added and we'll fail acpi_memory_enable_device().

There is only a single user remaining. We can simply lookup the nid only
used for node offlining purposes when walking our memory blocks. We don't
expect to remove multi-nid ranges; and if we'd ever do, we most probably
don't care about removing multi-nid ranges that actually result in empty
nodes.
If ever required, we can detect the "multi-nid" scenario and simply try
offlining all online nodes.

On some systems the nominal_perf value retrieved via CPPC is just
a constant and fetching it doesn't require accessing any registers,
so if it is the only CPPC capability that's needed, it is wasteful
to run cppc_get_perf_caps() in order to get just that value alone,
especially when this is done for CPUs other than the one running
the code.
For this reason, introduce cppc_get_nominal_perf() allowing
nominal_perf to be obtained individually, by generalizing the
existing cppc_get_desired_perf() (and renaming it) so it can be
used to retrieve any specific CPPC capability value.
While at it, clean up the cppc_get_desired_perf() kerneldoc comment
a bit.

There are a lot of uses of memblock_find_in_range() along with
memblock_reserve() from the times memblock allocation APIs did not exist.
memblock_find_in_range() is the very core of memblock allocations, so any
future changes to its internal behaviour would mandate updates of all the
users outside memblock.
Replace the calls to memblock_find_in_range() with an equivalent calls to
memblock_phys_alloc() and memblock_phys_alloc_range() and make
memblock_find_in_range() private method of memblock.
This simplifies the callers, ensures that (unlikely) errors in
memblock_reserve() are handled and improves maintainability of
memblock_find_in_range().

the diffstat is in the Qualcomm clk driver where we add a bunch of data
to describe clks on various SoCs and fix bugs. The other big new thing
in here is the Mediatek MT8192 clk driver. That's been under review for

It was reported that on "HP ENVY x360" that power LED does not come
back, certain keys like brightness controls do not work, and the fan
never spins up, even under load on 5.14 final.
In analysis of the SSDT it's clear that the Microsoft UUID doesn't
provide functional support, but rather the AMD UUID should be
supporting this system.
Because this is a gap in the expected logic, we checked back with
internal team. The conclusion was that on Windows AMD uPEP *does*
run even when Microsoft UUID present, but most OEM systems have
adopted value of "0x3" for supported functions and hence nothing
runs.
Henceforth add support for running both Microsoft and AMD methods.
This approach will also allow the same logic on Intel systems if
desired at a future time as well by pulling the evaluation of
`lps0_dsm_func_mask_microsoft` out of the `if` block for
`acpi_s2idle_vendor_amd`.

Use acpi_handle_debug() to print diagnostic messages regarding ACPI

The Lenovo Yoga 9 (14INTL5)'s ACPI _LID is bugged:
After hibernation the lid is initially reported as closed.
Once closing and then reopening the lid reports the lid as
open again. This leads to the conclusion that the initial
notification of the lid is missing but subsequent
notifications are correct.
In order fo the Linux LID code to handle this device properly
the lid_init_state must be set to ACPI_BUTTON_LID_INIT_OPEN.

The memory attributes attached to memory regions depend on architecture
specific mappings.
For some memory regions, the attributes specified by firmware (eg
uncached) are not sufficient to determine how a memory region should be
mapped by an OS (for instance a region that is define as uncached in
firmware can be mapped as Normal or Device memory on arm64) and
therefore the OS must be given control on how to map the region to match
the expected mapping behaviour (eg if a mapping is requested with memory
semantics, it must allow unaligned accesses).
Rework acpi_os_map_memory() and acpi_os_ioremap() back-end to split
them into two separate code paths:
acpi_os_memmap() -> memory semantics
acpi_os_ioremap() -> MMIO semantics
The split allows the architectural implementation back-ends to detect
the default memory attributes required by the mapping in question
(ie the mapping API defines the semantics memory vs MMIO) and map the
memory accordingly.

The Microsoft Debug Port Table 2 (DBG2) specification revision
May 31, 2017 added definition of the 16550-compatible Serial Port
Subtype with parameters defined in Generic Address Structure (GAS) [1]
Add its support in the SPCR table parsing routine.

Drivers like thinkpad_acpi and ideapad_laptop call the
platform_profile_notify() helper when the profile is changed by hardware
(the embedded-controller/EC) in response to an EC handled hotkey.
This allows userspace to monitor for such changes by polling for POLLPRI
on the platform_profile sysfs file. But the profile can also be changed
underneath a userspace program monitoring it by anonther userspace program
storing a new value.
Add a sysfs_notify() call to platform_profile_store(), so that userspace
programs monitoring for changes also get notified in this case.
Also update the documentation to document that POLLPRI polling can be
used to watch for changes.

It was reported by a user with a Dell m15 R5 (5800H) that
the keyboard backlight was turning on when entering suspend
and turning off when exiting (the opposite of how it should be).
The user bisected it back to commit 5dbf509975 ("ACPI: PM:
s2idle: Add support for new Microsoft UUID"). Previous to that
commit the LEDs didn't turn off at all. Confirming in the spec,
these were reversed when introduced.
Fix them to match the spec.

The newly introduced POWER_OF_TWO_PS flag, when set, makes the flow

Fix the NFIT parsing code to treat a 0 index in a SPA Range Structure as
a special case and not match Region Mapping Structures that use 0 to
indicate that they are not mapped. Without this fix some platform BIOS
descriptions of "virtual disk" ranges do not result in the pmem driver
attaching to the range.
Details:
In addition to typical persistent memory ranges, the ACPI NFIT may also
convey "virtual" ranges. These ranges are indicated by a UUID in the SPA
Range Structure of UUID_VOLATILE_VIRTUAL_DISK, UUID_VOLATILE_VIRTUAL_CD,
UUID_PERSISTENT_VIRTUAL_DISK, or UUID_PERSISTENT_VIRTUAL_CD. The
critical difference between virtual ranges and UUID_PERSISTENT_MEMORY,
is that virtual do not support associations with Region Mapping
Structures. For this reason the "index" value of virtual SPA Range
Structures is allowed to be 0. If a platform BIOS decides to represent
NVDIMMs with disconnected "Region Mapping Structures" (range-index ==
0), the kernel may falsely associate them with standalone ranges where
the "SPA Range Structure Index" is also zero. When this happens the
driver may falsely require labels where "virtual disks" are expected to
be label-less. I.e. "label-less" is where the namespace-range ==
region-range and the pmem driver attaches with no user action to create
a namespace.

The functions cpu_hotplug_begin, cpu_hotplug_done, get_online_cpus() and
put_online_cpus() have been deprecated during the CPU hotplug rework. They map
directly to cpus_write_lock(), cpus_write_unlock, cpus_read_lock() and
cpus_read_unlock().
Replace deprecated CPU-hotplug functions with the official version.
The behavior remains unchanged.

Some additional information is required for updating PCH FIVR values
upon WiFi channel changes.
New attributes added to the existing sysfs:
fivr_switching_freq_mhz : Get the FIVR switching control frequency.
Uses ACPI method GFCS.
fivr_switching_fault_status: Read the FIVR switching frequency control
fault status. Uses ACPI method GFFS.
ssc_clock_info : Presents SSC (spread spectrum clock) information for
EMI (Electro magnetic interference) control. Use ACPI
method GEMI (refer to the description of GEMI method
below).
GFFS
This ACPI method is used to read the FIVR switching frequency control
fault status.
Bits Description
[0:0] Fault status when set to 1
[31:1] Reserved
GFCS
This ACPI method is used to read the FIVR switching control frequency.
Bits Description
[11:0] Actual Frequency = value * XTAL_FREQ / 128
[31:12] Reserved
GEMI
This ACPI method is used to read the programmed register value for
EMI (Electro magnetic interference) control.

The current assumption that methods to read PCH FIVR attributes will
return integer, is not correct. There is no good way to return integer
as negative numbers are also valid.
These read methods return a package of integers. The first integer returns
status, which is 0 on success and any other value for failure. When the
returned status is zero, then the second integer returns the actual value.
This change fixes this issue by replacing acpi_evaluate_integer() with
acpi_evaluate_object() and use acpi_extract_package() to extract results.

The commit 0ec4e55e9f ("ACPI: resources: Add checks for ACPI IRQ
override") introduces regression on some platforms, at least it makes
the UART can't get correct irq setting on two different platforms,
and it makes the kernel can't bootup on these two platforms.

The driver core ignores the return value of this callback because there
is only little it can do when a device disappears.
This is the final bit of a long lasting cleanup quest where several
buses were converted to also return void from their remove callback.
Additionally some resource leaks were fixed that were caused by drivers
returning an error code in the expectation that the driver won't go
away.
With struct bus_type::remove returning void it's prevented that newly
implemented buses return an ignored error code and so don't anticipate
wrong expectations for driver authors.

Currently it's possible to iterate over the dangling pointer in case the device
suddenly disappears. This may happen becase callers put it at the end of a loop.
Instead, let's move that call inside acpi_dev_get_next_match_dev().

During a rework of initramfs code the INITRAMFS_COMPRESSION config
option was removed in commit 65e00e04e5. A leftover as a dependency
broke the config option ACPI_TABLE_OVERRIDE_VIA_ BUILTIN_INITRD that
is used to enable the overriding of ACPI tables from built-in initrd.
Fixing the dependency.

The sysfs_emit() function was introduced to make it less ambiguous
which function is preferred when writing to the output buffer in
a "show" callback [1].
Convert the GPIO library sysfs interface from sprintf() to sysfs_emit()
accordingly, as the latter is aware of the PAGE_SIZE buffer and correctly
returns the number of bytes written into the buffer.
No functional change intended.

Since the latter is going to be exported from that file, rename the

The I2C-bus to the XPower AXP288 is shared between the Linux kernel and
the SoCs P-Unit. The P-Unit has a semaphore which the kernel must "lock"
before it may use the bus and while the kernel holds the semaphore the CPU
and GPU power-states must not be changed otherwise the system will freeze.
This is a complex process, which is quite expensive. This is all done by
iosf_mbi_block_punit_i2c_access(). To ensure that no unguarded I2C-bus
accesses happen, iosf_mbi_block_punit_i2c_access() gets called by the
I2C-bus-driver for every I2C transfer. Because this is so expensive it
is allowed to call iosf_mbi_block_punit_i2c_access() in a nested
fashion, so that higher-level code which does multiple I2C-transfers can
call it once for a group of transfers, turning the calls done by the
I2C-bus-driver into no-ops.
The default exec_mipi_pmic_seq_element implementation from
drivers/acpi/pmic/intel_pmic.c does a regmap_update_bits() call and
the involved registers are typically marked as volatile in the regmap,
so this leads to 2 I2C-bus accesses.
Add a XPower AXP288 specific implementation of exec_mipi_pmic_seq_element
which calls iosf_mbi_block_punit_i2c_access() calls before the
regmap_update_bits() call to avoid having to do the whole expensive
acquire P-Unit semaphore dance twice.

If the OS confirms PRM (Platform Runtime Mechanism) support through
the \_SB._OSC PRM bit, the BIOS may start relying on the presence of
PRM support in the OS, so prevent the PRM bit from being set in the
\_SB._OSC capabilities bitmask when PRM support is not built in so
as to avoid confusing the BIOS in that case.

When using s2idle on a variety of AMD notebook systems, they are
experiencing spurious events that the EC or SMU are in the wrong
state leading to a hard time waking up or higher than expected
power consumption.
These events only occur when the EC GPE is inadvertently set as a wakeup
source. Originally the EC GPE was only set as a wakeup source when using
the intel-vbtn or intel-hid drivers in commit 10a08fd65e ("ACPI: PM:
Set up EC GPE for system wakeup from drivers that need it") but during
testing a reporter discovered that this was not enough for their ASUS
Zenbook UX430UNR/i7-8550U to wakeup by lid event or keypress.
Marking the EC GPE for wakeup universally resolved this for that
reporter in commit b90ff3554a ("ACPI: PM: s2idle: Always set up EC GPE
for system wakeup").
However this behavior has lead to a number of problems:
* On both Lenovo T14 and P14s the keyboard wakeup doesn't work, and
sometimes the power button event doesn't work.
* On HP 635 G7 detaching or attaching AC during suspend will cause
the system not to wakeup
* On Asus vivobook to prevent detaching AC causing resume problems
* On Lenovo 14ARE05 to prevent detaching AC causing resume problems
* On HP ENVY x360 to prevent detaching AC causing resume problems
As there may be other Intel systems besides ASUS Zenbook UX430UNR/i7-8550U
that don't use intel-vbtn or intel-hid, avoid these problems by only
universally marking the EC GPE wakesource on non-AMD systems.

The Dell Vostro 3350 ACPI video-bus device reports spurious
ACPI_VIDEO_NOTIFY_CYCLE events resulting in spurious KEY_SWITCHVIDEOMODE
events being reported to userspace (and causing trouble there).
Add a quirk setting the report_key_events mask to
REPORT_BRIGHTNESS_KEY_EVENTS so that the ACPI_VIDEO_NOTIFY_CYCLE
events will be ignored, while still reporting brightness up/down
hotkey-presses to userspace normally.

In function amba_handler_attach(), dev->res.name is initialized by
amba_device_alloc. But when address_found is false, dev->res.name is
assigned to null value, which leads to wrong resource name display in
/proc/iomem, "<BAD>" is seen for those resources.

The ACPI Virtual I/O Translation Table describes topology of
para-virtual platforms, similarly to vendor tables DMAR, IVRS and IORT.
For now it describes the relation between virtio-iommu and the endpoints
it manages.
Three steps are needed to configure DMA of endpoints:
(1) acpi_viot_init(): parse the VIOT table, find or create the fwnode
associated to each vIOMMU device. This needs to happen after
acpi_scan_init(), because it relies on the struct device and their
fwnode to be available.
(2) When probing the vIOMMU device, the driver registers its IOMMU ops
within the IOMMU subsystem. This step doesn't require any
intervention from the VIOT driver.
(3) viot_iommu_configure(): before binding the endpoint to a driver,
find the associated IOMMU ops. Register them, along with the
endpoint ID, into the device's iommu_fwspec.
If step (3) happens before step (2), it is deferred until the IOMMU is
initialized, then retried.
