v4l2_ctrl_handler_free() and v4l2_device_unregister() are currently only called

But that's wrong, we need to call these functions whenever the em28xx-v4l

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 34906633fa [media] em28xx-audio: don't wait for lock in non-block mode
Pulseaudio has the bad habit of stopping a streaming audio if
a device, opened in non-block mode, waits.

It is impossible to avoid em28xx to wait, as it will send commands
via I2C, and other I2C operations may be happening (firmware
transfers, Remote Controller polling, etc). Yet, as each em28xx
subdriver locks em28xx-dev to protect the access to the hardware,
it is possible to minimize the audio glitches by returning -EAGAIN
to pulseaudio, if the lock is already taken by another subdriver.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 49677aef90 [media] em28xx-audio: fix the period size in bytes
If the period size is wrong, userspace will assume a wrong delay
any may negociate an inadequate value.

The em28xx devices use 8 for URB interval, in microframes,
and the driver programs it to have 64 packets.

That means that the IRQ sampling period is 125 * 8 * 64,
with is equal to 64 ms.

So, that's the minimal latency with the current settings. It is
possible to program a lower latency, by using less than 64 packets,
but that increases the amount of bandwitdh used, and the number of
IRQ events per second.

In any case, in order to support it, the driver logic should be
changed to fill those parameters in realtime.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1b3fd2d342 [media] em28xx-audio: don't hardcode audio URB calculus
The current code hardcodes the number of audio URBs, the number
of packets per URB and the maximum URB size.

This is not a good idea, as it:

- wastes more bandwidth than necessary, by using a very
  large number of packets;

- those constants are bound to an specific scenario, with
  a bandwidth of 48 kHz;

- don't take the maximum endpoint size into account;

- with urb->interval = 1 on xHCI, those constraints cause a "funny"
setup: URBs with 64 packets inside, with only 24 bytes total. E. g.
  a complete waste of space.

Change the code to do dynamic URB audio calculus and allocation.

For now, use the same constraints as used before this patch, to
avoid regressions.

A good scenario (tested) seems to use those defines, instead:

	#define EM28XX_MAX_AUDIO_BUFS          8
	#define EM28XX_MIN_AUDIO_PACKETS       2

But let's not do such change here, letting the optimization to
happen on latter patches, after more tests.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab d2849fa59d [media] em28xx-audio: use bInterval on em28xx-audio
Just filling urb->interval with 1 is wrong, and causes a different
behaviour with xHCI.

With EHCI, the URB size is typically 192 bytes. However, as
xHCI specifies intervals in microframes, the URB size becomes
too short (24 bytes).

With this patch, the interval will be properly initialized, and
the device will behave the same if connected into a xHCI or an
EHCI device port.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab d845fb3ae5 [media] em28xx-i2c: add timeout debug information if i2c_debug enabled
If i2c_debug is enabled, we splicitly want to know when a
device fails with timeout.

If i2c_debug==2, this is already provided, for each I2C transfer
that fails.

However, most of the time, we don't need to go that far. We just
want to know that I2C transfers fail.

So, add such errors for normal (ret == 0x10) I2C aborted timeouts.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab e63b009d6e [media] em28xx-i2c: Fix error code for I2C error transfers
Follow the error codes for I2C as described at Documentation/i2c/fault-codes.

In the case of the I2C status register (0x05), this is mapped into:

	- ENXIO - when reg 05 returns 0x10
	- ETIMEDOUT - when the device is not temporarily not responding
		      (e. g. reg 05 returning something not 0x10 or 0x00)
	- EIO - for generic I/O errors that don't fit into the above.

In the specific case of 0-byte reads, used only during I2C device
probing, it keeps returning -ENODEV.

TODO: return EBUSY when reg 05 returns 0x20 on em2874 and upper.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab d20e4ed6d3 [media] em28xx: use a better value for I2C timeouts
In the lack of a better spec, let's assume the timeout
values compatible with SMBus spec:
	http://smbus.org/specs/smbus110.pdf

at chapter 8 - Electrical Characteristics of SMBus devices

Ok, SMBus is a subset of I2C, and not all devices will be
following it, but the timeout value before this patch was not
even following the spec.

So, while we don't have a better guess for it, use 35 + 1
ms as the timeout.

Hans Verkuil b8da9d3aaf [media] sn9c102: prepare for removal by moving it to staging
During the last media summit meeting it was decided to move this driver to
staging as the first step to removing it altogether.

Most webcams covered by this driver are now supported by gspca. Nobody has the
hardware to convert the remaining devices to gspca.

This driver needs a major overhaul to have it conform to the latest frameworks
and compliancy tests.

Without hardware, however, this is next to impossible. Given the fact that
this driver seems to be pretty much unused (it has been removed from Fedora
several versions ago and nobody complained about that), we decided to drop
this driver.

This patch moves it to staging. Some time in 2014 we will drop it completely.

Roland Scheidegger 431cb35018 [media] az6007: support Technisat Cablestar Combo HDCI (minus remote)
This is similar to the Terratec H7. It works with the same az6007 firmware as
the former, however the drx-k firmware of the H7 will NOT work. Hence use
a different firmware name. The firmware does not need to exist as the one in
the eeprom is just fine as long as the h7 one doesn't get loaded, but maybe
some day someone wants to load it (the one from the h5 would work too).
Also since the config entry is now different anyway disable support for rc.
AFAIK the Technisat remote (TS35) is RC5 and the code (which a code comment
claims doesn't work anyway) only would handle NEC hence it's pointless creating
a device and polling it if we already know it can't work.
CI is untested.

Originally based on idea found on
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/TechniSat_CableStar_Combo_HD_CI claiming
only id needs to be added (but failed to mention it only worked because the
driver couldn't find the h7 drx-k firmware...).

Linus Torvalds 3ea369eea0 Merge branch 'topic/kbuild-fixes-for-next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media
Pull media build fixes from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
"A series of patches that fix compilation on non-x86 archs.

While most of them are just build fixes, there are some fixes for real
bugs, as there are a number of drivers using dynamic stack allocation.
A few of those might be considered a security risk, if the i2c-dev
module is loaded, as someone could be sending very long I2C data that
could potentially overflow the Kernel stack. Ok, as using /dev/i2c-*
devnodes usually requires root on usual distros, and exploiting it
would require a DVB board or USB stick, the risk is not high"

Linus Torvalds a310410f61 Merge branch 'v4l_for_linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media

   - a new Remote Controller driver for ST SoC with the corresponding DT

   - a new frontend (cx24117)
   - a new I2C camera flash driver (lm3560)
   - a new mem2mem driver for TI SoC (ti-vpe)
   - support for Raphael r828d added to r820t driver
   - some improvements on buffer allocation at VB2 core
   - usual driver fixes and improvements

PS this time, we have a smaller number of patches. While it is hard
to pinpoint to the reasons, I believe that it is mainly due to:

   1) there are several patch series ready, but depending on DT review.
I decided to grant some extra time for DT maintainers to look on
it, as they're expecting to have more time with the changes agreed
during ARM mini-summit and KS. If they can't review in time for
3.14, I'll review myself and apply for the next merge window.

   2) I suspect that having both LinuxCon EU and LinuxCon NA happening
during the same merge window affected the development
productivity, as several core media developers participated on
      both events"

Guennadi Liakhovetski be353fa188 [media] V4L2: em28xx: tell the ov2640 driver to balance clock enabling internally
The em28xx driver only calls subdevices' .s_power() method to power them
down, relying on the hardware to wake up automatically, which is usually
the case with tuners. This was acceptable with the old .standby() method,
but is wrong with .s_power(). Fixing the driver would be difficult due to
a broad supported hardware base. Instead this patch makes use of the
unbalanced_power soc-camera subdevice flag to tell the ov2640 driver to
balance calls to v4l2_clk_enable() and v4l2_clk_disable() internally.

Alexey Khoroshilov 256d013a9b [media] cx231xx: fix double free and leaks on failure path in cx231xx_usb_probe()
There are numerous issues in error handling code of cx231xx initialization.
Double free (when cx231xx_init_dev() calls kfree(dev) via cx231xx_release_resources()

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 811a4f6d11 [media] siano: Fix initialization for Stellar models
Since kernel 3.8, the initialization for Stellar (sms1000)

Those devices have a behaviour different than usual sms1100
and sms2270: they start with one USB ID (devices in cold state),
but after firmware load, they get a different USB ID.
This weren't docummented at the driver. So, the patches that added

Properly documment it, and provide a debug log that allows to

Alexey Khoroshilov cf732b5fa3 [media] dvb-usb: fix error handling in ttusb_dec_probe()
There is an asymmetry in ttusb_dec_init_usb()-ttusb_init_rc()
and ttusb_dec_exit_usb()-ttusb_dec_exit_rc() in terms of resources
allocated-deallocated. irq_urb and irq_buffer are allocated in
ttusb_dec_init_usb(), while they are deallocated in ttusb_dec_exit_rc().
As a result there is a leak of them in ttusb_dec_probe().
The patch fixes the asymmetry and a leak on a failure path in ttusb_dec_init_usb().
By the way, it
- removes usage of -1 as a custom error code,
- replaces GFP_ATOMIC by GFP_KERNEL in usb_alloc_coherent() in ttusb_dec_init_usb()
  as soon as all other memory allocation done with GFP_KERNEL;
- refactors ttusb_dec_boot_dsp() in an equivalent way except for returning 0
instead of 1 if ttusb_dec_boot_dsp() succeed in (!mode) branch.

John Horan 03a6727995 [media] media: dvb-frontends: ts2020: Added in a option for frequency divider value for s600 devices
When the tuner part of the ds3000 driver was split to share code with the m88rs2000 driver, the ts2020 driver used
the frequency divider value from the m88rs2000 driver. However the ds3000 driver requires a different value, and this
resulted in some frequecies being invisible to the tuner. This patch adds back in the value needed for the ds3000 driver
and configured as an option in the dw2102 frontend driver.
It may also apply to su3000 devices, which use the same ds3000 driver, but for now it is only applied to the s660 device.

Ondrej Zary 4ab0620bdc [media] introduce gspca-stk1135: Syntek STK1135 driver
Hello,
this is a new gspca driver for Syntek STK1135 webcams. The code is completely
new, but register values are based on Syntekdriver (stk11xx) by Nicolas VIVIEN
(http://syntekdriver.sourceforge.net).
Only one webcam type is supported now - vendor 0x174f, device 0x6a31.
It's Asus F5RL laptop flippable webcam with MT9M112.
The camera works better than in Windows - initializes much faster and
provides more resolutions (the sensor can do almost any resolution - just
add it to the stk1135_modes[] - could this feature be somehow used by
applications to avoid SW scaling?).
Autoflip works too - when the camera is flipped around, the image is flipped
automatically.

v4l2-common.c contained a bunch of dv-timings related functions.
Move that to the new v4l2-dv-timings.c which is a more appropriate
place for them.
There aren't many drivers that do HDTV, so it is a good idea to separate
common code related to that into a module of its own.

Alexey Khoroshilov ac22521cb2 [media] tlg2300: fix checking firmware in poseidon_probe()
check_firmware() makes sure firmware is in a device.
It returns zero on success and error code otherwise.
Also it sets down_firmware flag to 1 if downloading occurs.
The only caller poseidon_probe() checks down_firmware flag and
returns 0 without any initialization if it is set.
That looks very strange, so the patch removes down_firmware argument
of check_firmware() and returns error code if check_firmware() fails
in poseidon_probe().
Not tested on real hardware.

Frank Schaefer 6914d70ecf [media] em28xx: remove GPIO register caching
The GPIO register caching is the result of wrong assumptions and incomplete
knowledge about the GPIO registers and their functionality.
Today, we know that it is not needed.
It is also limited to a single register and therefore incomplete (newer chips
are using multiple registers).
Instead of extending the caching, get rid of it, because it has no real
benefits and just bloats/complicates the code.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 5077ac3b81 Properly handle tristate dependencies on USB/PCI menus
As USB/PCI/MEDIA_SUPPORT dependencies can be tristate, we can't
simply make the bool menu to be dependent on it. Everything below
the menu should also depend on it, otherwise, we risk to allow
building them with 'y', while only 'm' would be supported.

So, add an IF just before everything below, in order to avoid
such risks.

Rodrigo Tartajo 1e41413f98 [media] rtl2832u: restore ir remote control support
Hi,
This patch uses the driver from openpli[1] as a template to restore the remote control support.
I had to divert from the original to use the in kernel rc protocol decoder. The key repetition does,
not seem to work but I cant find the problem in the driver. As a raw rc provider, no key table is
hardcoded.

Maintaining the users count using an atomic variable makes sure that
access to the counter won't be racy, but doesn't serialize access to the

Use a mutex to protect the users count and serialize access to the
