For 4032, context reset was the same as chip reset, and any firmware
issue was recovered by performing a chip reset.
For 82xx, the iSCSI firmware runs along with FCoE and the NIC
firmware contexts, and an error encountered doesnot essentially mean
that a chip reset is necessary.
Perform Chip resets only in the following cases:
1. Mailbox system error.
2. Mailbox command timeout.
3. fw_heartbeat_counter counter stops incrementing.
For all other cases, only perform a context reset.
1. Command Completion with an invalid srb.
2. Other mailbox failures.

When the qla4xxx_get_fwddb_entry returns QLA_ERROR
the nex_idx is not updated,

This means there is a risk that the 'idx < max_ddbs' condition will never
met and the loop will loop forever.
Fix this by explicitly increasing the next_idx in the error condition.
Maybe a break instead of continue is more appropriate, leaving the decision
on the qlogic maintainer.

With open-iscsi support, target entries persisted in the FLASH were not
login. Added support in the qla4xxx driver to do the login on probe
time to the target entries saved in the FLASH by user.
With this changes upgrade to the new kernel with open-iscsi support in
qla4xxx will ensure users original target entries login on driver load

Udev uses the connection's persistent address/port in the
/dev/disk/by-path name. qla4xxx is not exporting this value
so its iscsi disk names have been lacking the iscsi info.
In the old driver we did not have this information but
we do now and can fix this by just setting the flags to tell
libiscsi/scsi_transport_iscsi to export this info in sysfs.

Userspace was sending the priority/id part of the vlan tag
and sysfs was displaying the id in the vlan file. This
renames the vlan sysfs file to vlan_id to reflect that it
was showing the id and to match the vlan_priority file.
This also adds a ISCSI_NET_PARAM_VLAN_TAG iscsi nl command
to relfect that we are sending down the vlan/priority
part of the tag.

This has the driver use helpers for a common operation and fixes
a issue where if multiple iscsi params are sent they could be
sent at offsets that cause unaligned accesses. The nla helpers
account for the padding needed to align properly for the driver.

When sendtargets response is greater then max receive data segment length,
the passthrough IOCB failed with data overrun status. Solution is to
allocate space for iSCSI header in the IOCB response buffer.

When iscsid restarted for an existing active session, set DDB will
fail with status already logged in. In this case, we have to send

During link down, iscsid tries to do re-login to failed session. In case of
link down-up-down, LLD was sending connection login failed event to iscsid,
which is destroying the session, instead we have to continue re-login by
sending connection err event.

Firmware reserves DDBs if there are entries in the FLASH.
So there are no free DDBs left when a iSCSI login is initiated
by user space tool like iscsiadm.
Since now login is not controlled by firmware, LLD need to free
up the DDBs after firmware init. This will ensure free DDBs are
available for iSCSI logins using iscsiadm.

The driver failed to export primary boot target if secondary target did not
exist in the FLASH. If boot targets are not valid then driver assumed 0 and
1 as default boot targets. Since these target did not exist in flash, the
driver failed exporting all the targets.

QLogic applications store the CHAP information in FLASH. During login,
authentication information is provided using an index into the CHAP region.
In order to support QLogic applications along with iscsiadm, updated the
LLD to not add duplicate CHAP entries in the CHAP region and preserve the
existing CHAP info in the CHAP region in FLASH.
This allows QLogic applications to pre-write the CHAP entries in the
CHAP region.
With iscsiadm, when the CHAP authentication information is sent to the LLD, the
LLD searches for the entry in CHAP region in FLASH, if exists then do not add.
If CHAP entry does not exist then add the CHAP entry in the CHAP region.

When CONFIG_NET is disabled, SCSI_QLA_ISCSI selects SCSI_ISCSI_ATTRS,
which uses network interfaces, so the build fails with multiple errors:

1. Remove device database entry (ddb) state.
2. Remove device database (DDB) list building.
With open-iscsi integration the logins to the target devices are
handled by the user space. So the information of target is now
maintained in the iscsi_session object. This is handled at
libiscsi level so there is no need to maintain a list of DDBs in
the qla4xxx LLD.
3. qla4xxx: Remove add_device_dynamically.
Since autologin in FW is disabled with open-iscsi integration,
driver will never get an AEN for which driver has not requested
a DDB index. So remove the add_device_dynamically function.
4. Remove qla4xxx_tgt_dscvr
Since firmware autologin is disabled this function will not work.
Now user has the ability to do the target discovery and login to
each target individually. Firwmare will not do the login on its own.
5. Remove relogin related code
All relogin is handled by userspace now. qla4xxx just need to
notify userspace of a connection failure, this triggers the
relogin.
6. Remove add_session and alloc_session
Now qla4xxx uses iscsi_session_setup that would do the necessary
allocations for session and ddb_entry.

Add scsi_transport_iscsi hooks in qla4xxx to support
iSCSI session management using iscsiadm.

Now users can use iscsiadm to do target discovery and do login/logout to
individual targets using the qla4xxx iSCSI class interface.
This patch leaves some dead code, but to make it easier to review
we are leaving and in the next patch we will remove that old code.
V2 - NOTE: Added code to avoid waiting for AEN during login/logout
in the driver, instead added a kernel to user event
to notify iscsid about login status. Because of this
iscsid will not get blocked.

The iscsi class currently does not support writable sysfs
attrs for LLD sysfs settings. This patch converts the
iscsi class and driver's host attrs to use the attribute
container sysfs group and the sysfs group's is_visible callout
to be able to support readable or writable sysfs attrs.

The iscsi class currently does not support writable sysfs
attrs for LLD sysfs settings. This patch converts the
iscsi class and driver's session attrs to use the attribute
container sysfs group and the sysfs group's is_visible callout
to be able to support readable or writable sysfs attrs.

The presense of a writeq() implementation on 32-bit x86 that splits the
64-bit write into two 32-bit writes turns out to break the mpt2sas driver
(and in general is risky for drivers as was discussed in
<http://lkml.kernel.org/r/adaab6c1h7c.fsf@cisco.com>). To fix this,
revert 2c5643b1c5 ("x86: provide readq()/writeq() on 32-bit too") and
follow-on cleanups.
This unfortunately leads to pushing non-atomic definitions of readq() and
write() to various x86-only drivers that in the meantime started using the
definitions in the x86 version of <asm/io.h>. However as discussed
exhaustively, this is actually the right thing to do, because the right
way to split a 64-bit transaction is hardware dependent and therefore
belongs in the hardware driver (eg mpt2sas needs a spinlock to make sure
no other accesses occur in between the two halves of the access).
Build tested on 32- and 64-bit x86 allmodconfig.

Since queue_work does not requeue, there is no need to check
if a work is in progress using the AF_DPC_SCHEDULED flag.
queue_work would return if work is pending without adding the
work, do_dpc would again get invoked from qla4xxx_timer if
there is still DPC flags set.

lead to spurious interrupt. Mailbox completion are now polled if interrupt are

Complete the cmd if sense length is zero. For cases where sense
data spans across multiple iocb's by FW, we need to hold on to the
I/O (ha->status_srb != NULL) till we have processed them all and
copied the sense data from internal buffer to scsi_cmd sense buffer.

Disable Interrupt MBX completion will disable the interrupt on
successful completion. Fixed the bug where driver was waiting for
Interrupt to come in for its completion. Now driver will poll for
disable interrupt MBX completion.

remove ha flag AF_HBA_GOING_AWAY and added flag AF_HA_REMOVAL
to mark the other ISP-4xxx port to indicate that the driver is
being removed, so that the other port will not re-initialize

Driver has capability to add device dynamically and present
them to OS, driver no longer need to wait for DDBs to come
online during driver initialization.
Driver still issues a relogin for DDBs that are not online,
but no longer wait for DDB to come online.

FW is not able to process mbox command if FW state is failed. This will cause
mbox command to timeout and adapter reset. We have separate function to detect
FW failed state and do adapter reset. So to avoid mbox command timeout, do not
process mbox command in case of FW state failed.

Move the mid-layer's ->queuecommand() invocation from being locked
with the host lock to being unlocked to facilitate speeding up the
critical path for drivers who don't need this lock taken anyway.
The patch below presents a simple SCSI host lock push-down as an
equivalent transformation. No locking or other behavior should change
with this patch. All existing bugs and locking orders are preserved.
Additionally, add one parameter to queuecommand,
struct Scsi_Host *
and remove one parameter from queuecommand,
void (*done)(struct scsi_cmnd *)
Scsi_Host* is a convenient pointer that most host drivers need anyway,
and 'done' is redundant to struct scsi_cmnd->scsi_done.
Minimal code disturbance was attempted with this change. Most drivers
needed only two one-line modifications for their host lock push-down.

If the command has timedout then the block layer has called
blk_mark_rq_complete. If qla4xxx_cmd_wait is then called
from qla4xxx_eh_host_reset, we will always fail, because if
the driver calls scsi_done then the the block layer will fail
at blk_complete_request's blk_mark_rq_complete call instead of
calling the normal completion path including the function,
blk_queue_end_tag, which releases the tag.

There is a possibility that the firmware dies while the rom
lock is held. The only way to recover from this condition is
to forcefully unlock.

The seconds_since_last_heartbeat should be checked for consecutive
heartbeat checks. Currently it could happen that it gets set to

Outstanding mailbox commands, have no way to recover on f/w hung, and we
timeout on waiting for mbx response. This in turn affects the recovery process
as follows:
- We might already be in dpc while waiting for mbx to complete, so recovery for
that pci function will never get invoked. Reset Timeout (10 sec) is far less
than mbx timeout (30 sec).
- Other mbx cmds will get stuck due to serial mbx access.
Solution is to identify fw-hung scenario and handle outstanding mbx commands to
have an early-exit instead of waiting for response.
Other mbx commands waiting for access will also do an early-exit if fw-hung is
still applicable.

Once the device goes *missing*, driver blocks the session
ie iscsi_block_session() to stall the I/O. So after device
comes back *online*, driver needs to unblock the session ie
iscsi_unblock_session(), else I/Os will fail even if
ddb_state is ONLINE.

Link Down -> Mark all devices missing
Previously, the driver took no action on a Link Down,
and waited for the I/O on a dead connection to timeout
in the firmware before marking the DDB missing.
Link Up -> Mark all devices online
F/W will do auto login to all the devices only once.
After that its the responsibility of the driver to
relogin to devices whenever there is :
* Any sort of connection failure or
* KATO expires indicating target has logged out or
* I/O times out etc.

percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).
* x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
* powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
* sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
* ia64 SMP allmodconfig
* s390 SMP allmodconfig
* alpha SMP allmodconfig
* um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig
8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

If the nvram is invalid qla4xxx tries to set Asuint32_t
based on the card type. If the card type is not listed
then Asuint32_t is going to be gargabe. This just fixes
that if/elseif by adding a else to catch the case for
new hardware that might not be listed yet.

eh_device_reset may be called from scsi error handler or sg_reset, etc.
When called from sg_reset, there will not be an associated srb. The
driver should lookup the corresponding device handle given information
from the supplied cmd structure and should not assume that there exists
an srb.

Recently dm-multipath began calling blk_abort_queue. This causes all the
commands/request running on the path to have the timeout function called.
If a path does go down, and the LLD returns DID_*, dm-multpiath will eventually
get this error and begin to call the cmd timeout handler. qla4xxx currently
does not set a timed out handler and so the default one could return
BLK_EH_NOT_HANDLED and end up firing the scsi eh and stopping IO to all
paths on the host when only one path is affected.
For software and offload iscsi we have a timed out handler already.
This patch adds a driver specific one to qla4xxx because there
are some ddb->state and session->state and command completion races
that are better handled in the LLD.
This also handles the problem where if the session is down,
we do not need the scsi eh to run until the transport code
has tried to reconnect us.

Fixed sense data errors occurring above the first 32 bytes,
as required by some third party applications. Sense data
in the first 32 bytes has always been correct.
Patch updated to use srb data variables instead of scsi command
scratchpad data area, as scratchpad area is already used.
Also, corrected debug print alignment bug in dump_buffer routine.
Changed KERN_DEBUG to KERN_INFO in printk statements in this routine.

qla4xxx does not check the I_T nexus values correctly
so it ends up creating one session to the target. If
a portal should disappear or they should be reported
in different order the driver will think it is already
logged in when it could now be speaking to a different
target portal or accessing it through a different
initiator port (iscsi initiator port is not tied to
hardware and is just the initiator name plus isid
so you could end up with multiple ports through one
host).
This patch has the driver check the iscsi scsi port
values when matching sessions (we do not check
the initiator name because that is static). It results
in a portal from each target portal group getting
logged into instead of just one per target. In the future
the firmware should hopefully send us notification of other
sessions that are created to other portals within the
same tpgt and the sessions should have different isids.

If the driver knows when hardware is removed like with cxgb3i,
bnx2i, qla4xxx and iser then we will want to remove the sessions/devices
that are bound to that device before removing the host.
cxgb3i and in the future bnx2i will remove the host and that will
remove all the sessions on the hba. iser can call iscsi_kill_session
when it gets an event that indicates that a hca is removed.
And when qla4xxx is hooked in to the lib (it is only hooked into
the class right now) it can call iscsi remove host like the
partial offload card drivers.

it, we need to retrn SCSI_MLQUEUE_TARGET_BUSY from the driver instead
of host busy, because the session recovery only affects the one target.

Right now SCSI and others do their own command timeout handling.
Move those bits to the block layer.
Instead of having a timer per command, we try to be a bit more clever
and simply have one per-queue. This avoids the overhead of having to
tear down and setup a timer for each command, so it will result in a lot
less timer fiddling.

This removes the session and conn data_size fields from the iscsi_transport.
Just pass in the value like with host allocation. This patch also makes
it so the LLD iscsi_conn data is allocated with the iscsi_cls_conn.

bnx2i allocates a host per netdevice but will use libiscsi,
so this unbinds the session from the host in that code.

This patch contains the following:
1. when hba completion status is good, check for iscsi transport
errors (underflow/overflow) prior to checking the scsi status
2. New firmware requires that one marker iocb be issued for each task
management command. The patch issues marker iocb immediately
following a LUN or Target reset.

We are seeing EXIST errors from sysfs during device addition.
We need a start scan callout so we do not start scanning sessions

The host reset callout could be starting to reset the hba at the same
time the dpc thread is. This creates lots of problems because they both
want to do wierd things with the firmware and interrupts, etc.
This patch just has the host reset function fully shutdown the dpc
thread before resetting the hba.
This patch also moves the setting of the session online bit to fix
a potential race with the dpc thread and iscsi recovery thread.

the check in the residual case has an incorrect test of scsi_status
(the logic is reversed, it should be scsi_status != 0 instead of
!scsi_status. Since we checked a few lines above that scsi_status was
non-zero, just eliminate this test

qla4xxx has the old school startup/probe where it finds presetup sessions
in its flash and then attempts to log into them before returning from the
probe. This however, makes it very simple to add a iscsi class scan finished
helper which the driver can use.
In future patches Dave or I will rip apart the driver to make it more
like qla2xxx, but for now this is a very simple two line patch which
fixes the problem of trying to figure out when the initial sessions
are done being scanned.

If qla4xxx is resetting up a session and the recovery timer
fires we do not want to just set it to dead, because
the dpc thread could have just set it to online and is in the

Qla4xxx can just call the iscsi recovery functions directly.
There is no need for userspace to do this for qla4xxx, because
we do not use the mutex to iterate over devices anymore and iscsi_block
/unblock_session can be called from interrupt context or the dpc thread.
And having userspace do this just creates uneeded headaches for qla4xxx root
situations where the session may experience problems. For example
during the kernel shutdown the scsi layer wants to send sync caches, but at
this time userspace is not up (iscsid is not running), so we cannot
recover from the problem.

With the sg table code, every SCSI driver is now either chain capable
or broken (or has sg_tablesize set so chaining is never activated), so
there's no need to have a check in the host template.
Also tidy up the code by moving the scatterlist size defines into the
SCSI includes and permit the last entry of the scatterlist pools not
to be a power of two.

print_mac() used many most net drivers and format_addr() used by
net-sysfs.c are very similar and they can be intergrated.
format_addr() is also identically redefined in the qla4xxx iscsi
driver.
Export a new function sysfs_format_mac() to be used by net-sysfs,
qla4xxx and others in the future. Both print_mac() and
sysfs_format_mac() call _format_mac_addr() to do the formatting.
Changed print_mac() to use unsigned char * to be consistent with
net_device struct's dev_addr. Added buffer length overrun checking
as suggested by Joe Perches.

We were using the device delete sysfs file to remove each device
then logout. Now in 2.6.21 this will not work because
the sysfs delete file returns immediately and does not wait for
the device removal to complete. This causes a hang if a cache sync
is needed during shutdown. Before .21, that approach had other
problems, so this patch fixes the shutdown code so that we remove the target
and unbind the session before logging out and shut down the session

This option is true if a low-level driver can support sg
chaining. This will be removed eventually when all the drivers are
converted to support sg chaining. q->max_phys_segments is set to
SCSI_MAX_SG_SEGMENTS if false.

Slab destructors were no longer supported after Christoph's
c59def9f22 change. They've been
BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them
either.
This rips out support for the dtor pointer from kmem_cache_create()
completely and fixes up every single callsite in the kernel (there were
about 224, not including the slab allocator definitions themselves,
or the documentation references).

iSCSI must support software iscsi (iscsi_tcp, iser), hardware iscsi (qla4xxx),
and partial offload (broadcom). To be able to allow each stack or driver
or port (virtual or physical) to be able to log into the same target portal
we use the initiator tuple [[HWADDRESS | NETDEVNAME], INITIATOR_NAME] and
the target tuple [TARGETNAME, CONN_ADDRESS, CONN_PORT] to id a session.
This patch adds the netdev name, which is used by software iscsi when
it binds a session to a netdevice using the SO_BINDTODEVICE sock opt.
It cannot use HWADDRESS because if someone did vlans then the same netdevice
will have the same mac and the initiator,target id will not be unique.

qla4xxx this is the ip of the hba's port. For software
this is the src addr of the socket.

Userspace will want to know what the driver/FW/HW capabilites
when it comes to some operations like if the hardware can
do discovery or if it can store iscsi info like what target
was used for boot. This patch adds some new caps so userspace
can tell if the driver supports hardware/fw based sendtargets
discovery and if the hardware has some flash which may be
holding or can contain some iscsi target info
.

For iscsi root boot, software iscsi needs to know what the BIOS/OF
initiator used for the initiator name so this puts it in sysfs
for userspace to be able to pick up.
For hw iscsi, it is nice to see what the card is using.
This patch adds the new param, and hooks in qla4xxx, iscsi_tcp, and ib_iser.

Free memory resources after invoking free_irq() in
qla4xxx_free_adapter(). QLA4xxx has two pci functions per port
(Ethernet and iSCSI). When one of these PCI functions issues a HBA
reset, all other functions are notified and need to acknowledge and
re-initialize. During module qla4xxx_remove_adapter() gets
invoked. This function needs to wait if it is currently responding to
a reset from another function.

In qla4xxx_get_ddb_entry() and qla4xxx_add_device_dynamically()
differentiate between a target which has been newly added vs a target
which went offline temporarily and is online again. In
qla4xxx_build_ddb_list() firmware ddb state needs to be updated by
calling qla4xxx_get_ddb_entry(). Fix qla4x00_pci_config() and clean up
code.

The included patch fixes the following issues:
1. qla3xxx/qla4xxx co-existence issue which can result in a lockup
when qla3xxx driver is unloaded, or when ifdown; ifup is performed on
one of the interfaces correponding to qla3xxx. This is because qla4xxx
HBA supports one ethernet and iscsi interfaces per port. Both iscsi
and ethernet interfaces share the same state machine. The problem has
to do with synchronizing access to the state machine in the event of a
reset
2. mutex_lock() is sometimes not followed by mutex_unlock() prior to
invoking a msleep() in qla4xxx_mailbox_command()

On qla4xxx, the driver needs to grab the drvr semaphore provided by
the hardware, prior to issuing a reset. This patches takes care of a
couple of places where it was not being done. In addition there is
minor clean up.

Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead
of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the
Linux kernel.
The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack
space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter
from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path
(ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()).
Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do
something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is
maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception
handling.
Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down
through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character
device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its
interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character
device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input
layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing.
I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the
main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers.
I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile
with minimal configurations.
This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy.
Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one:
struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs);
And put the old one back at the end:
set_irq_regs(old_regs);
Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ().
In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary:
- update_process_times(user_mode(regs));
- profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs);
+ update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs()));
+ profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING);
I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself,
except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode().
Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers:
(*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in
the input_dev struct.
(*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does
something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs
pointer or not.
(*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type
irq_handler_t.
