Use regmap instead of i2c specific functions.
This is in preparation of splitting this driver into core and
i2c specific functionality.

A hardware fifo reset always imply an invalidation of the
existing timestamps, so we'll clear timestamps fifo on
successfull hardware fifo reset.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.
