Dmitry V. Levin b7dc5a071d parisc: Fix ptrace syscall number modification
Commit 910cd32e55 ("parisc: Fix and enable seccomp filter support")
introduced a regression in ptrace-based syscall tampering: when tracer
changes syscall number to -1, the kernel fails to initialize %r28 with
-ENOSYS and subsequently fails to return the error code of the failed
syscall to userspace.

This erroneous behaviour could be observed with a simple strace syscall
fault injection command which is expected to print something like this:

$ strace -a0 -ewrite -einject=write:error=enospc echo hello
write(1, "hello\n", 6) = -1 ENOSPC (No space left on device) (INJECTED)
write(2, "echo: ", 6) = -1 ENOSPC (No space left on device) (INJECTED)
write(2, "write error", 11) = -1 ENOSPC (No space left on device) (INJECTED)
write(2, "\n", 1) = -1 ENOSPC (No space left on device) (INJECTED)
+++ exited with 1 +++

After commit 910cd32e55 it loops printing
something like this instead:

write(1, "hello\n", 6../strace: Failed to tamper with process 12345: unexpectedly got no error (return value 0, error 0)
) = 0 (INJECTED)

This bug was found by strace test suite.

Masahiro Yamada d4ce5458ea arch: remove stale comments "UAPI Header export list"
These comments are leftovers of commit fcc8487d47 ("uapi: export all
headers under uapi directories").

Prior to that commit, exported headers must be explicitly added to
header-y. Now, all headers under the uapi/ directories are exported.

Helge Deller dfbaecb2b7 parisc: Remap hugepage-aligned pages in set_kernel_text_rw()
The alternative coding patch for parisc in kernel 4.20 broke booting
machines with PA8500-PA8700 CPUs. The problem is, that for such machines
the parisc kernel automatically utilizes huge pages to access kernel
text code, but the set_kernel_text_rw() function, which is used shortly
before applying any alternative patches, didn't used the correctly
hugepage-aligned addresses to remap the kernel text read-writeable.

Joel Fernandes (Google) 4cf5892495 mm: treewide: remove unused address argument from pte_alloc functions
Patch series "Add support for fast mremap".

This series speeds up the mremap(2) syscall by copying page tables at
the PMD level even for non-THP systems. There is concern that the extra
'address' argument that mremap passes to pte_alloc may do something
subtle architecture related in the future that may make the scheme not
work. Also we find that there is no point in passing the 'address' to
pte_alloc since its unused. This patch therefore removes this argument
tree-wide resulting in a nice negative diff as well. Also ensuring
along the way that the enabled architectures do not do anything funky
with the 'address' argument that goes unnoticed by the optimization.

Build and boot tested on x86-64. Build tested on arm64. The config
enablement patch for arm64 will be posted in the future after more
testing.

The changes were obtained by applying the following Coccinelle script.
(thanks Julia for answering all Coccinelle questions!).
Following fix ups were done manually:
* Removal of address argument from pte_fragment_alloc
* Removal of pte_alloc_one_fast definitions from m68k and microblaze.

// Options: --include-headers --no-includes
// Note: I split the 'identifier fn' line, so if you are manually

Matthew Wilcox 3fc2579e6f fls: change parameter to unsigned int
When testing in userspace, UBSAN pointed out that shifting into the sign
bit is undefined behaviour. It doesn't really make sense to ask for the
highest set bit of a negative value, so just turn the argument type into
an unsigned int.

Some architectures (eg ppc) already had it declared as an unsigned int,
so I don't expect too many problems.

Linus Torvalds 96d4f267e4 Remove 'type' argument from access_ok() function
Nobody has actually used the type (VERIFY_READ vs VERIFY_WRITE) argument
of the user address range verification function since we got rid of the
old racy i386-only code to walk page tables by hand.

It existed because the original 80386 would not honor the write protect
bit when in kernel mode, so you had to do COW by hand before doing any
user access. But we haven't supported that in a long time, and these
days the 'type' argument is a purely historical artifact.

A discussion about extending 'user_access_begin()' to do the range
checking resulted this patch, because there is no way we're going to
move the old VERIFY_xyz interface to that model. And it's best done at
the end of the merge window when I've done most of my merges, so let's
just get this done once and for all.

This patch was mostly done with a sed-script, with manual fix-ups for
the cases that weren't of the trivial 'access_ok(VERIFY_xyz' form.

There were a couple of notable cases:

 - csky still had the old "verify_area()" name as an alias.

 - the iter_iov code had magical hardcoded knowledge of the actual
values of VERIFY_{READ,WRITE} (not that they mattered, since nothing
   really used it)

 - microblaze used the type argument for a debug printout

but other than those oddities this should be a total no-op patch.

I tried to fix up all architectures, did fairly extensive grepping for
access_ok() uses, and the changes are trivial, but I may have missed
something. Any missed conversion should be trivially fixable, though.

Linus Torvalds af7ddd8a62 DMA mapping updates for Linux 4.21
A huge update this time, but a lot of that is just consolidating or
 removing code:

  - provide a common DMA_MAPPING_ERROR definition and avoid indirect
    calls for dma_map_* error checking
  - use direct calls for the DMA direct mapping case, avoiding huge
retpoline overhead for high performance workloads
  - merge the swiotlb dma_map_ops into dma-direct
  - provide a generic remapping DMA consistent allocator for architectures
that have devices that perform DMA that is not cache coherent. Based
on the existing arm64 implementation and also used for csky now.
  - improve the dma-debug infrastructure, including dynamic allocation
    of entries (Robin Murphy)
  - default to providing chaining scatterlist everywhere, with opt-outs
for the few architectures (alpha, parisc, most arm32 variants) that
    can't cope with it
  - misc sparc32 dma-related cleanups
  - remove the dma_mark_clean arch hook used by swiotlb on ia64 and
replace it with the generic noncoherent infrastructure
  - fix the return type of dma_set_max_seg_size (Niklas Söderlund)
  - move the dummy dma ops for not DMA capable devices from arm64 to
    common code (Robin Murphy)
  - ensure dma_alloc_coherent returns zeroed memory to avoid kernel data
leaks through userspace. We already did this for most common
architectures, but this ensures we do it everywhere.
dma_zalloc_coherent has been deprecated and can hopefully be
removed after -rc1 with a coccinelle script.

Christoph Hellwig 518a2f1925 dma-mapping: zero memory returned from dma_alloc_*
If we want to map memory from the DMA allocator to userspace it must be
zeroed at allocation time to prevent stale data leaks. We already do
this on most common architectures, but some architectures don't do this
yet, fix them up, either by passing GFP_ZERO when we use the normal page
allocator or doing a manual memset otherwise.

Firoz Khan 85e69701f5 parisc: add system call table generation support
The system call tables are in different format in all
architecture and it will be difficult to manually add,
modify or delete the syscall table entries in the res-
pective files. To make it easy by keeping a script and
which will generate the uapi header and syscall table
file. This change will also help to unify the implemen-
tation across all architectures.

The system call table generation script is added in
kernel/syscalls directory which contain the scripts to
generate both uapi header file and system call table
files. The syscall.tbl will be input for the scripts.

syscall.tbl contains the list of available system calls
along with system call number and corresponding entry
point. Add a new system call in this architecture will
be possible by adding new entry in the syscall.tbl file.

Adding a new table entry consisting of:
  	- System call number.
	- ABI.
	- System call name.
	- Entry point name.
	- Compat entry name, if required.

syscallhdr.sh and syscalltbl.sh will generate uapi header
unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table_32/64/c32.h files respect-
ively. Both .sh files will parse the content syscall.tbl
to generate the header and table files. unistd_32/64.h will
be included by uapi/asm/unistd.h and syscall_table_32/64/-
c32.h is included by kernel/syscall.S - the real system

is gone and there is no need to define __NR_Linux as 0.

One of the patch in this patch series will generate uapi header
file which does have offset logic support. But here the offset
value __NR_Linux defined as 0 and it doesn't make much effect.
So remove the offset __NR_Linux from uapi header file.

Firoz Khan dbf91a54f7 parisc: add __NR_syscalls along with __NR_Linux_syscalls
__NR_Linux_syscalls macro holds the number of system call
exist in parisc architecture. We have to change the value
of __NR_Linux_syscalls, if we add or delete a system call.

One of the patch in this patch series has a script which
will generate a uapi header based on syscall.tbl file.
The syscall.tbl file contains the total number of system
calls information. So we have two option to update __NR-
_Linux_syscalls value.

1. Update __NR_Linux_syscalls in asm/unistd.h manually by
counting the no.of system calls. No need to update __NR-
_Linux_syscalls until we either add a new system call or
   delete existing system call.

2. We can keep this feature it above mentioned script,
that will count the number of syscalls and keep it in
a generated file. In this case we don't need to expli-
citly update __NR_Linux_syscalls in asm/unistd.h file.

The 2nd option will be the recommended one. For that, I
added the __NR_syscalls macro in uapi/asm/unistd.h along
with __NR_Linux_syscalls asm/unistd.h. The macro __NR_sys-
calls also added for making the name convention same across
all architecture. While __NR_syscalls isn't strictly part
of the uapi, having it as part of the generated header to
simplifies the implementation. We also need to enclose
this macro with #ifdef __KERNEL__ to avoid side effects.

John David Anglin 86d4d068df parisc: Revert "Release spinlocks using ordered store"
This reverts commit d27dfa13b9.

Unfortunately, this patch needs to be reverted. We need the full sync
barrier and not the limited barrier provided by using an ordered store.
The sync ensures that all accesses and cache purge instructions that
follow the sync are performed after all such instructions prior the sync
instruction have completed executing.

The patch breaks the rwlock implementation in glibc. This caused the
test-lock application in the libprelude testsuite to hang. With the
change reverted, the test runs correctly and the libprelude package
builds successfully.

Linus Torvalds 5bd4af34a0 TTY/Serial patches for 4.20-rc1
Here is the big tty and serial pull request for 4.20-rc1

Lots of little things here, including a merge from the SPI tree in order
to keep things simpler for everyone to sync around for one platform.

 Major stuff is:
 	- tty buffer clearing after use
 	- atmel_serial fixes and additions
 	- xilinx uart driver updates
and of course, lots of tiny fixes and additions to individual serial
 drivers.

All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues for a
 while.

Linus Torvalds dad4f140ed Merge branch 'xarray' of git://git.infradead.org/users/willy/linux-dax
Pull XArray conversion from Matthew Wilcox:
"The XArray provides an improved interface to the radix tree data
structure, providing locking as part of the API, specifying GFP flags
at allocation time, eliminating preloading, less re-walking the tree,
more efficient iterations and not exposing RCU-protected pointers to
  its users.

  This patch set

   1. Introduces the XArray implementation

   2. Converts the pagecache to use it

   3. Converts memremap to use it

The page cache is the most complex and important user of the radix
tree, so converting it was most important. Converting the memremap
code removes the only other user of the multiorder code, which allows
us to remove the radix tree code that supported it.

I have 40+ followup patches to convert many other users of the radix
tree over to the XArray, but I'd like to get this part in first. The
other conversions haven't been in linux-next and aren't suitable for
applying yet, but you can see them in the xarray-conv branch if you're
  interested"

John David Anglin c9fa406f62 parisc: Fix A500 boot crash
I believe the following change will fix the cache/TLB inconsistency
observed by Meelis. After changing the page table entries, we need to
flush the cache and TLB to ensure that we don't have any stale PTE
values in the cache or TLB.

The alternative patching is done after all CPUs are running. Thus, we
need to flush the whole cache and TLB.

I included the init section in the range modified by map_pages as
suggested by Helge. Some routines in the init section may require
patching.

Alexandre Ghiti 1e5f50fc9d hugetlb: introduce generic version of hugetlb_free_pgd_range
arm, arm64, mips, parisc, sh, x86 architectures use the same version of
hugetlb_free_pgd_range, so move this generic implementation into
asm-generic/hugetlb.h.

Arnd Bergmann 9a298b4455 parisc64: change __kernel_suseconds_t to match glibc
There are only two 64-bit architecture ports that have a 32-bit
suseconds_t: sparc64 and parisc64. I've encountered a number of problems
with this, while trying to get a proper 64-bit time_t working on 32-bit
architectures. Having a 32-bit suseconds_t combined with a 64-bit time_t
means that we get extra padding in data structures that may leak kernel
stack data to user space, and it breaks all code that assumes that
timespec and timeval have the same layout.

While we can't change sparc64, it seems that glibc on parisc64 has always
set suseconds_t to 'long', and the current version would give incorrect
results for gettimeofday() and many other interfaces: timestamps passed
from user space into the kernel result in tv_usec being always zero
(the lower bits contain the intended value but are ignored) while data
passed from the kernel to user space contains either zeroes or random
data in tv_usec.

Based on that, it seems best to change the user API in the kernel in
an incompatible way to match what glibc expects.

Note that the distros I could find (gentoo and debian) all just
have 32-bit user space, which does not suffer from this problem.
