Here are a small number of staging and iio driver fixes for 4.16-rc2.
The IIO fixes are all for reported things, and the android driver fixes
also resolve some reported problems. The remaining fsl-mc Kconfig
change resolves a build testing error that Arnd reported.
All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues.

Since commit 204f672255 ("staging: android: ion: Use CMA APIs directly")
the CMA API is now used directly and therefore the allocated memory is no
longer automatically zeroed.
Explicitly zero CMA allocated memory to ensure that no data is exposed to
userspace.

Selecting GENERIC_MSI_IRQ_DOMAIN on x86 causes a compile-time error in
some configurations:
drivers/base/platform-msi.c:37:19: error: field 'arg' has incomplete type
On the other architectures, we are fine, but here we should have an additional
dependency on X86_LOCAL_APIC so we can get the PCI_MSI_IRQ_DOMAIN symbol.

On some platforms there's an ITS available but it's not enabled
because reading or writing the registers is denied by the
firmware. In fact, reading or writing them will cause the system
to reset. We could remove the node from DT in such a case, but
it's better to skip nodes that are marked as "disabled" in DT so
that we can describe the hardware that exists and use the status
property to indicate how the firmware has configured things.

Before:
All these functions either return a negative error indicator,
or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.
"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.
None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.
This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.
Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.
rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.
Userspace API is not changed.

This is the mindless scripted replacement of kernel use of POLL*
variables as described by Al, done by this script:
for V in IN OUT PRI ERR RDNORM RDBAND WRNORM WRBAND HUP RDHUP NVAL MSG; do
L=`git grep -l -w POLL$V | grep -v '^t' | grep -v /um/ | grep -v '^sa' | grep -v '/poll.h$'|grep -v '^D'`
for f in $L; do sed -i "-es/^\([^\"]*\)\(\<POLL$V\>\)/\\1E\\2/" $f; done
done
with de-mangling cleanups yet to come.
NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.
The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This seems to have been a comparatively quieter merge window, I assume
due to holidays etc. The "biggest" change is AMD header cleanups, which
merge/remove a bunch of them. The AMD gpu scheduler is now being made generic
with the etnaviv driver wanting to reuse the code, hopefully other drivers
can go in the same direction.
Otherwise it's the usual lots of stuff in i915/amdgpu, not so much stuff
elsewhere.
Core:
- Add .last_close and .output_poll_changed helpers to reduce driver footprints
- Fix plane clipping
- Improved debug printing support
- Add panel orientation property
- Update edid derived properties at edid setting

A pretty big batch of Kconfig updates. I have to mention the lexer
and parser of Kconfig are now built from real .l and .y sources.
So, flex and bison are the requirement for building the kernel.
Both of them (unlike gperf) have been stable for a long time. This
change has been tested several weeks in linux-next, and I did not
receive any problem report about this.
Summary:
- Add checks for mistakes, like the choice default is not in
choice, help is doubled
- Document data structure and complex code
- Fix various memory leaks
- Change Makefile to build lexer and parser instead of using
pre-generated C files
- Drop 'boolean' keyword, which is equivalent to 'bool'
- Use default 'yy' prefix and remove unneeded Make variables
- Fix gettext() check for xconfig
- Announce that oldnoconfig will be finally removed
- Make 'Selected by:' and 'Implied by' readable in help and
search result
- Hide silentoldconfig from 'make help' to stop confusing people
- Fix misc things and cleanups

Here is the big Staging and IIO driver patches for 4.16-rc1.
There is the normal amount of new IIO drivers added, like all releases.
The networking IPX and the ncpfs filesystem are moved into the staging
tree, as they are on their way out of the kernel due to lack of use
anymore.
The visorbus subsystem finall has started moving out of the staging tree
to the "real" part of the kernel, and the most and fsl-mc codebases are
almost ready to move out, that will probably happen for 4.17-rc1 if all
goes well.
Other than that, there is a bunch of license header cleanups in the
tree, along with the normal amount of coding style churn that we all
know and love for this codebase. I also got frustrated at the
Meltdown/Spectre mess and took it out on the dgnc tty driver, deleting
huge chunks of it that were never even being used.
Full details of everything is in the shortlog.
All of these patches have been in linux-next for a while with no
reported issues.

Pull poll annotations from Al Viro:
"This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local
variables used to hold the future return value'.
Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
in this series - it's large enough as it is.
Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
arch-independent, but POLL### are not.
The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
work on all architectures.
As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all
architectures"

Merge tag 'iversion-v4.16-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jlayton/linux
Pull inode->i_version rework from Jeff Layton:
"This pile of patches is a rework of the inode->i_version field. We
have traditionally incremented that field on every inode data or
metadata change. Typically this increment needs to be logged on disk
even when nothing else has changed, which is rather expensive.
It turns out though that none of the consumers of that field actually
require this behavior. The only real requirement for all of them is
that it be different iff the inode has changed since the last time the
field was checked.
Given that, we can optimize away most of the i_version increments and
avoid dirtying inode metadata when the only change is to the i_version
and no one is querying it. Queries of the i_version field are rather
rare, so we can help write performance under many common workloads.
This patch series converts existing accesses of the i_version field to
a new API, and then converts all of the in-kernel filesystems to use
it. The last patch in the series then converts the backend
implementation to a scheme that optimizes away a large portion of the
metadata updates when no one is looking at it.
In my own testing this series significantly helps performance with
small I/O sizes. I also got this email for Christmas this year from
the kernel test robot (a 244% r/w bandwidth improvement with XFS over
DAX, with 4k writes):
https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/12/25/8

Since commit 152a6a884a ("staging:iio:accel:sca3000 move
to hybrid hard / soft buffer design.")
the buffer mechanism has changed and the
INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE flag has been unused.
Since commit 2d6ca60f32 ("iio: Add a DMAengine framework
based buffer")
the INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE flag has been re-purposed for
DMA buffers.
This driver has lagged behind these changes, and
in order for buffers to work, the INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE
needs to be used.

The external clock frequency was set only when selecting
the internal clock, which is fixed at 4.9152 Mhz.
This is incorrect, since it should be set when any of
the external clock or crystal settings is selected.
Added range validation for the external (crystal/clock)
frequency setting.
Valid values are between 2.4576 and 5.12 Mhz.

The initialization of cfg_cmd is redundant as the value is never read

The logic of the original commit 4d99b2581e ("staging: lustre: avoid
intensive reconnecting for ko2iblnd") was assumed conditional free of
struct kib_conn if the second argument free_conn in function
kiblnd_destroy_conn(struct kib_conn *conn, bool free_conn) is true.
But this hunk of code was dropped from original commit. As result the logic
works wrong and current code use struct kib_conn after free.
> drivers/staging/lustre/lnet/klnds/o2iblnd/o2iblnd_cb.c
> 3317 kiblnd_destroy_conn(conn, !peer);
> ^^^^ Freed always (but should be conditionally)
> 3318
> 3319 spin_lock_irqsave(lock, flags);
> 3320 if (!peer)
> 3321 continue;
> 3322
> 3323 conn->ibc_peer = peer;
> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Use after free
> 3324 if (peer->ibp_reconnected < KIB_RECONN_HIGH_RACE)
> 3325 list_add_tail(&conn->ibc_list,
> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Use after free
> 3326 &kiblnd_data.kib_reconn_list);
> 3327 else
> 3328 list_add_tail(&conn->ibc_list,
> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Use after free
> 3329 &kiblnd_data.kib_reconn_wait);
To avoid confusion this fix moved the freeing a struct kib_conn outside of
the function kiblnd_destroy_conn() and free as it was intended in original
commit.

When compiled without CONFIG_SMP, we get a compile error
as ->ctb_parts is not defined.
There is already a function, cfs_cpt_cpumask(), which will get the
cpumask we need, and which handles the UP case by returning a NULL pointer.
So use that and handle NULL.
Also avoid the #ifdef by allocating a cpumask_var and copying
into it, rather than sharing the mask.

I get some static checker warnings like this:
drivers/staging/rts5208/ms.c:2607 ms_build_l2p_tbl()
error: buffer underflow 'ms_card->segment' (-1)-16
The problem is that we memset "ms_card" to zero at the start of the
reset_ms_card() function. That means that when we try to calculate
"ms_card->total_block / 512 - 1" then it's just always -1. The fix is
to calculate "seg_no" before doing the memset().
This is a static checker fix, and I am not able to test it. My theory
is that reset_ms_card() gets very little testing which is why this bug
exists.
