After we moved inode_sync_wait() from end_writeback() it doesn't make sense
to call the function end_writeback() anymore. Rename it to clear_inode()
which well says what the function really does - set I_CLEAR flag.

D1 and D2 macros are mostly uses to emit debugging messages.
Convert the logging uses of D1 & D2 to jffs2_dbg(level, fmt, ...)
to be a bit more consistent style with the rest of the kernel.
All jffs2_dbg output is now at KERN_DEBUG where some of
the previous uses were emitted at various KERN_<LEVEL>s.

(fs: protect inode->i_state with inode->i_lock), insert_inode_locked()
no longer returns the inode with I_NEW set on failure. However,
the error handler still calls unlock_new_inode() on failure,
which does a WARN_ON if I_NEW is not set, so any failure spews
a lot of warnings.
We can just drop the unlock_new_inode() if insert_inode_locked()
fails here.

Currently jffs2 has compile-time constants (and .config options)
controlling whether or not the various compression/decompression
drivers are built in and enabled. This is fine for embedded
systems, but it clashes with distribution kernels. Distro kernels
tend to turn on everything; this causes OpenFirmware to fall
over, as it understands ZLIB-compressed inodes. Booting a kernel
that has LZO compression enabled, writing to the boot partition,
and then rebooting causes OFW to fail to read the kernel from
the filesystem. This is because LZO compression has priority
when writing new data to jffs2, if LZO is enabled.
This patch adds mount option parsing, and a single supported
option ("compr=none"). This adds the flexibility of being
able to specify which compressor overrides on a per-superblock
basis. For now, we can simply disable compression;
additional flexibility coming soon.

Tell the filesystem if we just updated timestamp (I_DIRTY_SYNC) or
anything else, so that the filesystem can track internally if it
needs to push out a transaction for fdatasync or not.
This is just the prototype change with no user for it yet. I plan
to push large XFS changes for the next merge window, and getting
this trivial infrastructure in this window would help a lot to avoid
tree interdependencies.
Also remove incorrect comments that ->dirty_inode can't block. That
has been changed a long time ago, and many implementations rely on it.

When JFFS2 is used for large volumes, the mount times are quite long.
Increasing the hash size provides a significant speed boost on the OLPC
XO-1 laptop.
Add logic that dynamically selects a hash size based on the size of
the medium. A 64mb medium will result in a hash size of 128, and a 512mb
medium will result in a hash size of 1024.

three protected by the superblocks s_umount rw_semaphore. Therefore it is

Fix up trivial conflicts in drivers/mtd/maps/{Kconfig,redwood.c} due to
redwood driver removal.
Make sure we check the truncate constraints early on in ->setattr by adding
those checks to inode_change_ok. Also clean up and document inode_change_ok
to make this obvious.
As a fallout we don't have to call inode_newsize_ok from simple_setsize and
simplify it down to a truncate_setsize which doesn't return an error. This
simplifies a lot of setattr implementations and means we use truncate_setsize
almost everywhere. Get rid of fat_setsize now that it's trivial and mark
ext2_setsize static to make the calling convention obvious.
Keep the inode_newsize_ok in vmtruncate for now as all callers need an
audit for its removal anyway.
Note: setattr code in ecryptfs doesn't call inode_change_ok at all and
needs a deeper audit, but that is left for later.

static there.

Wrap access to task credentials so that they can be separated more easily from
the task_struct during the introduction of COW creds.
Change most current->(|e|s|fs)[ug]id to current_(|e|s|fs)[ug]id().
Change some task->e?[ug]id to task_e?[ug]id(). In some places it makes more
sense to use RCU directly rather than a convenient wrapper; these will be
addressed by later patches.

To support NFS export, we need to know the parent inode of directories.
Rather than growing the jffs2_inode_cache structure, share space with
the nlink field -- which was always set to 1 for directories anyway.

Stop the JFFS2 filesystem from using iget() and read_inode(). Replace
jffs2_read_inode() with jffs2_iget(), and call that instead of iget().
jffs2_iget() then uses iget_locked() directly and returns a proper error code
instead of an inode in the event of an error.
jffs2_do_fill_super() returns any error incurred when getting the root inode
instead of EINVAL.

[In commit 9ed437c50d we fixed a problem
with standard permissions on newly-created inodes, when POSIX ACLs are
enabled. This cleans it up...]
The attached patch separate jffs2_init_acl() into two parts.
The one is jffs2_init_acl_pre() called from jffs2_new_inode().
It compute ACL oriented inode->i_mode bits, and allocate in-memory ACL
objects associated with the new inode just before when inode meta
infomation is written to the medium.
The other is jffs2_init_acl_post() called from jffs2_symlink(),
jffs2_mkdir(), jffs2_mknod() and jffs2_do_create().
It actually writes in-memory ACL objects into the medium next to
the success of writing meta-information.
In the current implementation, we have to write a same inode meta
infomation twice when inode->i_mode is updated by the default ACL.
However, we can avoid the behavior by putting an updated i_mode
before it is written at first, as jffs2_init_acl_pre() doing.

Ensure pages are uptodate after returning from read_cache_page, which allows
us to cut out most of the filesystem-internal PageUptodate calls.
I didn't have a great look down the call chains, but this appears to fixes 7
possible use-before uptodate in hfs, 2 in hfsplus, 1 in jfs, a few in
ecryptfs, 1 in jffs2, and a possible cleared data overwritten with readpage in
block2mtd. All depending on whether the filler is async and/or can return
with a !uptodate page.
It introduced a wait to read_cache_page, as well as a
read_cache_page_async function equivalent to the old read_cache_page
without any callers.
Switching jffs2_gc_fetch_page to read_cache_page_async for the old
behavior makes the deadlocks go away, but maybe reintroduces the
use-before-uptodate problem? I don't understand the mm/fs interaction
well enough to say.

When POSIX ACL support was enabled, we weren't writing correct
legacy modes to the medium on inode creation, or when the ACL was set.
This meant that the permissions would be incorrect after the file system
was remounted.

In particular, remove the bit in the LICENCE file about contacting
Red Hat for alternative arrangements. Their errant IS department broke
that arrangement a long time ago -- the policy of collecting copyright
assignments from contributors came to an end when the plug was pulled on
the servers hosting the project, without notice or reason.
We do still dual-license it for use with eCos, with the GPL+exception
licence approved by the FSF as being GPL-compatible. It's just that nobody
has the right to license it differently.

This eliminates the i_blksize field from struct inode. Filesystems that want
to provide a per-inode st_blksize can do so by providing their own getattr
routine instead of using the generic_fillattr() function.
Note that some filesystems were providing pretty much random (and incorrect)
values for i_blksize.

If xattr_ref is associated with an orphan inode_cache
on filesystem mounting, those xattr_refs are not
released even if this inode_cache is released.
This patch enables to call jffs2_xattr_delete_inode()
for such a irregular inode_cachde too.

Give the statfs superblock operation a dentry pointer rather than a superblock
pointer.
This complements the get_sb() patch. That reduced the significance of
sb->s_root, allowing NFS to place a fake root there. However, NFS does
require a dentry to use as a target for the statfs operation. This permits
the root in the vfsmount to be used instead.
linux/mount.h has been added where necessary to make allyesconfig build
successfully.
Interest has also been expressed for use with the FUSE and XFS filesystems.
