The `ar_usb` field of `ath6kl_usb_pipe_usb_pipe` objects
are initialized to point to the containing `ath6kl_usb` object
according to endpoint descriptors read from the device side, as shown
below in `ath6kl_usb_setup_pipe_resources`:
for (i = 0; i < iface_desc->desc.bNumEndpoints; ++i) {
endpoint = &iface_desc->endpoint[i].desc;
// get the address from endpoint descriptor
pipe_num = ath6kl_usb_get_logical_pipe_num(ar_usb,
endpoint->bEndpointAddress,
&urbcount);
......
// select the pipe object
pipe = &ar_usb->pipes[pipe_num];
// initialize the ar_usb field
pipe->ar_usb = ar_usb;
}
The driver assumes that the addresses reported in endpoint
descriptors from device side to be complete. If a device is
malicious and does not report complete addresses, it may trigger
NULL-ptr-deref `ath6kl_usb_alloc_urb_from_pipe` and
`ath6kl_usb_free_urb_to_pipe`.

Atheros cards with a AR92XX generation (and older) chip usually
store their pci(e) initialization vectors on an external eeprom chip.
However these chips technically don't need the eeprom chip attached,
the AR9280 Datasheet in section "6.1.2 DEVICE_ID" describes that
"... if the EEPROM content is not valid, a value of 0xFF1C returns
when read from the register". So, they will show up on the system's
pci bus. However in that state, ath9k can't load, since it relies
on having the correct pci-id, otherwise it doesn't know what chip it
actually is. This happens on many embedded devices like routers
and accesspoint since they want to keep the BOM low and store the
pci(e) initialization vectors together with the calibration data
on the system's FLASH, which is out of reach of the ath9k chip.
Furthermore, Some devices (like the Cisco Meraki Z1 Cloud Managed
Teleworker Gateway) need to be able to initialize the PCIe wifi device.
Normally, this should be done as a pci quirk during the early stages of
booting linux. However, this isn't possible for devices which have the
init code for the Atheros chip stored on NAND in an UBI volume.
Hence, this module can be used to initialize the chip when the
user-space is ready to extract the init code.

There are several occasions where a negative cid value is passed
into wil_cid_valid and this is converted into a u8 causing the
range check of cid >= 0 to always succeed. Fix this by making
the cid argument an int to handle any -ve error value of cid.
An example of this behaviour is in wil_cfg80211_dump_station,
where cid is assigned -ENOENT if the call to wil_find_cid_by_idx
fails, and this -ve value is passed to wil_cid_valid. I believe
that the conversion of -ENOENT to the u8 value 254 which is
greater than wil->max_assoc_sta causes wil_find_cid_by_idx to
currently work fine, but I think is by luck and not the
intended behaviour.

`dev` (struct rsi_91x_usbdev *) field of adapter
(struct rsi_91x_usbdev *) is allocated and initialized in
`rsi_init_usb_interface`. If any error is detected in information
read from the device side, `rsi_init_usb_interface` will be
freed. However, in the higher level error handling code in
`rsi_probe`, if error is detected, `rsi_91x_deinit` is called
again, in which `dev` will be freed again, resulting double free.
This patch fixes the double free by removing the free operation on
`dev` in `rsi_init_usb_interface`, because `rsi_91x_deinit` is also
used in `rsi_disconnect`, in that code path, the `dev` field is not
(and thus needs to be) freed.

for 5GHz channels. Scanning at this band not only do not show any APs
but also can hang the firmware.
Since vendor reference driver do not support 5GHz we don't know how
properly configure 5GHz channels. So disable this band for MT7630E .

Since 41634aa8d6 ("mt76: only schedule txqs from the tx tasklet")
I can observe firmware hangs on MT7630E on station mode: tx stop
functioning after minor activity (rx keep working) and on module
unload device fail to stop with messages:
[ 5446.141413] mt76x0e 0000:06:00.0: TX DMA did not stop
[ 5449.176764] mt76x0e 0000:06:00.0: TX DMA did not stop
Loading module again results in failure to associate with AP.
Only machine power off / power on cycle can make device work again.
It's unclear why commit 41634aa8d6 causes the problem, but it is
related to HW encryption. Since issue is a firmware hang, that is super
hard to debug, just disable HW encryption as fix for the issue.

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:
struct usb_int_regs {
...
struct reg_data regs[0];
} __packed;
Make use of the struct_size() helper instead of an open-coded version
in order to avoid any potential type mistakes.
So, replace the following function:
static int usb_int_regs_length(unsigned int count)
{
return sizeof(struct usb_int_regs) + count * sizeof(struct reg_data);
}
with:
struct_size(regs, regs, count)

Getting RAM info just once per driver's lifetime (during chip
recognition) is not enough as it may get adjusted later (depending on
the used firmware). Subsequent inits may load different firmwares so a
full RAM recognition is required on every PCIe setup. This is especially
important since implementing hardware reset on a firmware crash.
Moreover calling brcmf_chip_get_raminfo() makes sure that RAM core is
up. It's important as having BCMA_CORE_SYS_MEM down on BCM4366 was
resulting in firmware failing to initialize and following error:
[ 65.657546] brcmfmac 0000:01:00.0: brcmf_pcie_download_fw_nvram: Invalid shared RAM address 0x04000001
This change makes brcmf_chip_get_raminfo() call during chip recognition
redundant for PCIe devices but SDIO and USB still need it and it's a
very small overhead anyway.

According to documentation IEEE80211_TX_STAT_AMPDU_NO_BACK is suppose
to be used when we do not recive BA (BlockAck). However on rt2x00 we
use it when remote station fail to decode one or more subframes within
AMPDU (some bits are not set in BlockAck bitmap). Setting the flag result
in sent of BAR (BlockAck Request) frame and this might result of abuse
of BA session, since remote station can sent BA with incorrect
sequence numbers after receiving BAR. This problem is visible especially
when connecting two rt2800 devices.
Previously I observed some performance benefits when using the flag
when connecting with iwlwifi devices. But currently possibly due
to reacent changes in rt2x00 removing the flag has no effect on
those test cases.
So remove the IEEE80211_TX_STAT_AMPDU_NO_BACK.

Then, they are used on lines 20042-20050:
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_SYN_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_SYN);
wlc_phy_init_radio_regs(pi, regs_TX_2056_ptr, (u16) RADIO_2056_TX0);

Add structures for them and handle them in the if block that detects
C0 revisions.
Additionally, instead of having an inclusive check for QnJ devices,
make the selection exclusive, so that switching to QnJ is the
exception, not the default. This prevents us from having to add all
the non-QnJ cards to an exclusion list. To do so, only go into the
QnJ block if the device has an RF ID type HR and HW revision QnJ.

Two new attributes are used by kernel to publish driver's EDMG

NL80211_BAND_ATTR_EDMG_BW_CONFIG - represent the channel bandwidth

NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_EDMG_CHANNELS
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_EDMG_BW_CONFIG

The MAC context configuration always allowed multicast data frames
to pass to the driver for all MAC context types, and in the
case of station MAC context both when associated and when not
associated.
One of the outcomes of this configuration is having the FW forward
encrypted multicast frames to the driver with Rx status indicating
that the frame was not decrypted (as expected, since no keys were
configured yet) which in turn results with unnecessary error
messages.
Change this behavior to allow multicast data frames only when they
are actually expected, e.g., station MAC context is associated etc.

This reverts commit 437322ea2a.
This above-mentioned "fix" does not actually do anything to prevent a
race condition. It simply papers over it so that the issue doesn't
appear.
If this is a real problem, it should be explained better than the above
commit does, and an alternative, non-racy solution should be found.
For further reason to revert this: there's no reason we can't try
resetting the card when it's *actually* stuck in host-sleep mode. So
instead, this is unnecessarily creating scenarios where we can't recover
Wifi (and in fact, I'm fielding reports of Chromebooks that can't
recover after the aforementioned commit).
Note that this was proposed in 2017 and Ack'ed then, but due to my
marking as RFC, it never went anywhere:

In this step, the read/write routines for the descriptors are converted
to use __le32 quantities, thus a lot of casts can be removed. Callback
routines still use the 8-bit arrays, but these are changed within the
specified routine.

As a first step in the conversion, the macros that set the RX and TX
descriptors are converted to static inline routines, and the names are
changed from upper to lower case. To minimize the changes in a given
step, the input descriptor information is left as as a byte array
(u8 *), even though it should be a little-endian word array (__le32 *).
That will be changed in the next patch.

This driver uses a set of local macros to manipulate the RX and TX
descriptors, which are all little-endian quantities. These macros
are replaced by the bitfield macros le32p_replace_bits() and
le32_get_bits(). In several places, the macros operated on an entire

Both RTL8822BE/RTL8822CE are WiFi + BT combo chips. Since
WiFi and BT use 2.4GHz to transmit, it is important to
make sure they run concurrently without interfering each
other. To achieve this, WiFi driver requires a mechanism
to collaborate with BT, whether they share the antenna(s)
or not.
The final decision made by the co-existence mechanism is
to choose a proper strategy, or called "tdma/table", and
inform either firmware or hardware of the strategy.
To choose a strategy, co-existence mechanism needs to
have enough information from WiFi and BT.
BT information is provided through firmware C2H.
The contents describe the current status of BT, such as
if BT is connected or is idle, or the profile that is
being used.
WiFi information can be provided by WiFi itself. The WiFi
driver will call various of "notify" functions each time
the state of WiFi changed, such as WiFi is going to switch
channel or is connected. Also WiFi driver can know if it
shares antenna with BT by reading efuse content. Antenna
configuration of the module will finally get a different
strategy.
Upon receiving any information from WiFi or BT, the WiFi
driver will run the co-existence mechanism immediately.
It will set the RF antenna configuration according to the
strategy through the TDMA H2C to firmware and a hardware
table. Based on the tdma/table, WiFi + BT should work with
each other, and having a better user experience.

In order to support MSI-X efficiently, we want to avoid
communication across Rx queues. Each Rx queue should have
all the data it needs to process a packet.
The reordering buffer is a challenge in the MSI-X world
since we can have a single BA session whose packets are
directed to different queues. This is why each queue has
its own reordering buffer. The hardware is able to hint
the driver whether we have a hole or not, which allows
the driver to know whether it can release a packet or not.
This indication is called NSSN. Roughly, if the packet's
SN is lower than the NSSN, we can release the packet to
the stack. The NSSN is the SN of the newest packet received
without any holes + 1.
This is working as long as we don't have packets that we
release because of a timeout. When that happens, we could
have taken the decision to release a packet after we have
been waiting for its predecessor for too long. If this
predecessor comes later, we have to drop it because we
can't release packets out of order. In that case, the
hardware will give us an indication that we can we release
the packet (SN < NSSN), but the packet still needs to be
dropped.
This is why we sometimes need to ignore the NSSN and we
track the head_sn in software.
Here is a specific example of this:
1) Rx queue 1 got packets: 480, 482, 483
2) We release 480 to to the stack and wait for 481
3) NSSN is now 481
4) The timeout expires
5) We release 482 and 483, NSSN is still 480
6) 481 arrives its NSSN is 484.
We need to drop 481 even if 481 < 484. This is why we'll
update the head_sn to 484 at step 2. The flow now is:
1) Rx queue 1 got packets: 480, 482, 483
2) We release 480 to to the stack and wait for 481
3) NSSN is now 481 / head_sn is 481
4) The timeout expires
5) We release 482 and 483, NSSN is still 480 but head_sn is 484.
6) 481 arrives its NSSN is 484, but head_sn is 484 and we drop it.
This code introduces another problem in case all the traffic
goes well (no hole, no timeout):
Rx queue 1: 0 -> 483 (head_sn = 484)
Rx queue 2: 501 -> 4095 (head_sn = 0)
Rx queue 2: 0 -> 480 (head_sn = 481)
Rx queue 1: 481 but head_sn = 484 and we drop it.
At this point, the SN of queue 1 is far behind: more than
4040 packets behind. Queue 1 will consider 481 "old"
because 481 is in [501-64:501] whereas it is a very new
packet.
In order to fix that, send an Rx notification from time to
time (twice across the full set of 4096 packets) to make
sure no Rx queue is lagging too far behind.
What will happen then is:
Rx queue 1: 0 -> 483 (head_sn = 484)
Rx queue 2: 501 -> 2047 (head_sn = 2048)
Rx queue 1: Sync nofication (head_sn = 2048)
Rx queue 2: 2048 -> 4095 (head_sn = 0)
Rx queue 1: Sync notification (head_sn = 0)
Rx queue 2: 1 -> 481 (head_sn = 482)
Rx queue 1: 481 and head_sn = 0.
In queue 1's data, head_sn is now 0, the packet coming in
is 481, it'll understand that the new packet is new and it
won't be dropped.

We will soon be using a new notification that will be
initiated by the driver, sent to the firmware and sent
back to all the RSS queues by the firmware. This new
notification will be useful to synchronize the NSSN across
all the queues.
For now, don't send the notification, just add the code to
handle it. Later patch will add the code to actually send
it.
While at it, validate the baid coming from the firmware to
avoid accessing an array with a bad index in the driver.

Firmware versions before 41 don't support the GEO_TX_POWER_LIMIT
command, and sending it to the firmware will cause a firmware crash.
We allow this via debugfs, so we need to return an error value in case
it's not supported.
This had already been fixed during init, when we send the command if
the ACPI WGDS table is present. Fix it also for the other,
userspace-triggered case.

On older NICs, we occasionally see issues with A-MSDU support,
where the commands in the FIFO get confused and then we see an
assert EDC because the next command in the FIFO isn't TX.
We've tried to isolate this issue and understand where it comes
from, but haven't found any errors in building the A-MSDU in
software.
At least for now, disable A-MSDU support on older hardware so
that users can use it again without fearing the assert.

inadvertently messed up the offsets used in

As it stands, commit 63d7ef3610 breaks compatibility with WPA (not

In hwsim_dump_radio_nl(), when genlmsg_put() on line 3617 fails, hdr is

genl_dump_check_consistent(cb, hdr);
genlmsg_end(skb, hdr);
Thus, possible null-pointer dereferences may occur.
To fix these bugs, hdr is used here when it is not NULL.

When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the
return value. This driver was saving the debugfs file away to be
removed at a later time. However, the 80211 core would delete the whole
directory that the debugfs files are created in, after it asks the
driver to do the deletion, so just rely on the 80211 core to do all of
the cleanup for us, making us not need to keep a pointer to the dentries
around at all.
This cleans up the structure of the driver data a bit and makes the code
a tiny bit smaller.

RIP: 0010:skb_panic+0x43/0x45
When skb allocation fails and the "rx routine starvation" is hit, the
function returns immediately without updating the RX ring. At this
point, the RX ring may continue referencing an old skb which was already
handed off to ieee80211_rx_irqsafe(). When it comes to be used again,
bad things happen.
This patch allocates a new, data-sized skb first in RX ISR. After
copying the data in, we pass it to the upper layers. However, if skb
allocation fails, we effectively drop the frame. In both cases, the
original, full size ring skb is reused.
In addition, to fixing the kernel crash, the RX routine should now
generally behave better under low memory conditions.
