In the previous patch, we introduced tty_get_char_size() and
tty_get_frame_size() for computing character and frame sizes,
respectively. Here, we make use of them in various tty drivers where
applicable.
The stats look nice: 12 insertions, 169 deletions.

Theoretically, it will cause index out of bounds error if
'num_bytes_read' is greater than 4. As we expect it(and was tested)
never to be greater than 4, error out if it happens.

The XillyUSB driver is the USB variant for the Xillybus FPGA IP core.
Even though it presents a nearly identical API on the FPGA and host,
it's almost a complete rewrite of the driver: The framework for exchanging
data on a USB bus is fundamentally different from doing the same with a
PCIe interface, which leaves very little in common between the existing
driver and the new one for XillyUSB.

This patch is a preparation for adding another related driver, XillyUSB.
In order to share some code between the existing Xillybus driver and the
one to be added, some functions are moved to xillybus_class.c
XILLYBUS_CLASS is added to Kconfig and is common to all drivers in this
group. The relation with the existing XILLYBUS symbol is "select" rather
than "depends on" XILLYBUS_CLASS, or else "make olddefconfig" will silently
turn off XILLYBUS, which is currently enabled in several distributions.
XILLYBUS_CLASS doesn't depend on anything else, hence using it with
"select" poses no risk for a broken configuration.
After the future addition of the XillyUSB module, the tree of symbols
will be as follows:
XILLYBUS_CLASS --+-- XILLYBUS --+-- XILLYBUS_PCIE

| +-- XILLYBUS_OF

+-- XILLYUSB
XILLYBUS is for drivers based upon memory registers + DMA-based interfaces,
and it's combined with XILLYBUS_PCIE and/or XILLYBUS_OF.
XILLYUSB is for the USB variant only.

* CONFIG_XILLYBUS_PCIE -> xillybus_pcie.c: Functions related to PCIe.
* CONFIG_XILLYBUS_OF -> xillybus_of.c: Functions related to Xillybus as a
peripheral on an FPGA / Processor combo chip.
* CONFIG_XILLYBUS -> xillybus_core.c: Functions that are common to the two
above, mainly access to the peripheral with memory-mapped registers and
DMA.
* CONFIG_XILLYUSB -> xillyusb.c: The driver for the USB variant, accesses
the peripheral through the USB framework.
* CONFIG_XILLYBUS_CLASS -> xillybus_class.c: The new module, which contains
the class and API parts that would otherwise appear both in
xillybus_core.c and xillyusb.c. Contains utility functions for the two
latter.
And since I'm at it, comments on the module names are added in the
Kconfig's help part.
The functions are exported with the non-GPL EXPORT_SYMBOL (a matter of
taste).

The majority here is the fallout of the umn.edu re-review of all prior
submissions. That resulted in a bunch of reverts along with the
"correct" changes made, such that there is no regression of any of the
potential fixes that were made by those individuals. I would like to

Other than that, there's a few habanna driver fixes for reported issues,

By adding the TTY port shutdown callback, the final buffer flush has
been moved from tpk_close() to tpk_port_shutdown(). This enables buffer
flush upon close and hangup as well. The change also removes the
specific 'buf == NULL' handling in tpk_printk(), which became useless.

When an IPMI watchdog timer is being stopped in ipmi_close() or
ipmi_ioctl(WDIOS_DISABLECARD), the current watchdog action is updated to
WDOG_TIMEOUT_NONE and _ipmi_set_timeout(IPMI_SET_TIMEOUT_NO_HB) is called
to install this action. The latter function ends up invoking
__ipmi_set_timeout() which makes the actual 'Set Watchdog Timer' IPMI
request.
For IPMI 1.0, this operation results in fully stopping the watchdog timer.
For IPMI >= 1.5, function __ipmi_set_timeout() always specifies the "don't
stop" flag in the prepared 'Set Watchdog Timer' IPMI request. This causes
that the watchdog timer has its action correctly updated to 'none' but the
timer continues to run. A problem is that IPMI firmware can then still log
an expiration event when the configured timeout is reached, which is
unexpected because the watchdog timer was requested to be stopped.
The patch fixes this problem by not setting the "don't stop" flag in
__ipmi_set_timeout() when the current action is WDOG_TIMEOUT_NONE which
results in stopping the watchdog timer. This makes the behaviour for
IPMI >= 1.5 consistent with IPMI 1.0. It also matches the logic in
__ipmi_heartbeat() which does not allow to reset the watchdog if the
current action is WDOG_TIMEOUT_NONE as that would start the timer.

Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all
commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were
correct or not.
Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons
below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a
later kernel change.
While this is technically correct, it is only fixing ONE of these errors
in this function, so the patch is not fully correct. I'll leave this
revert and provide a fix for this later that resolves this same
"problem" everywhere in this function.

Group the flow flags under a single struct called flow. The new struct
contains 'stopped' and 'tco_stopped' bools which used to be bits in a
bitfield. The struct also contains the lock protecting them to
potentially share the same cache line.
Note that commit c545b66c69 (tty: Serialize tcflow() with other tty
flow control changes) added a padding to the original bitfield. It was
for the bitfield to occupy a whole 64b word to avoid interferring stores
on Alpha (cannot we evaporate this arch with weird implications to C
code yet?). But it doesn't work as expected as the padding
(tty_struct::unused) is aligned to a 8B boundary too and occupies some
bytes from the next word.
So make it reliable by:
1) setting __aligned of the struct -- that aligns the start, and
2) making 'unsigned long unused[0]' as the last member of the struct --
pads the end.
This is also the perfect time to start the documentation of tty_struct
where all this lives. So we start by documenting what these bools
actually serve for. And why we do all the alignment dances. Only the few
up-to-date information from the Theodore's comment made it into this new
Kerneldoc comment.

Noone stepped up in the past two years since it was marked as BROKEN by
commit c7084edc3f (tty: mark Siemens R3964 line discipline as BROKEN).
Remove the line discipline for good.
Three remarks:
* we remove also the uapi header (as noone is able to use that interface
anyway)
* we do *not* remove the N_R3964 constant definition from tty.h, so it
remains reserved.
* in_interrupt() check is now removed from vt's con_put_char. Noone else
calls tty_operations::put_char from interrupt context.

If the total number of commands queried through TPM2_CAP_COMMANDS is
different from that queried through TPM2_CC_GET_CAPABILITY, it indicates
an unknown error. In this case, an appropriate error code -EFAULT should
be returned. However, we currently do not explicitly assign this error
code to 'rc'. As a result, 0 was incorrectly returned.

Patch series "drivers/char: remove /dev/kmem for good".
Exploring /dev/kmem and /dev/mem in the context of memory hot(un)plug and
memory ballooning, I started questioning the existence of /dev/kmem.
Comparing it with the /proc/kcore implementation, it does not seem to be
able to deal with things like
a) Pages unmapped from the direct mapping (e.g., to be used by secretmem)
-> kern_addr_valid(). virt_addr_valid() is not sufficient.
b) Special cases like gart aperture memory that is not to be touched
-> mem_pfn_is_ram()
Unless I am missing something, it's at least broken in some cases and might
fault/crash the machine.
Looks like its existence has been questioned before in 2005 and 2010 [1],
after ~11 additional years, it might make sense to revive the discussion.
CONFIG_DEVKMEM is only enabled in a single defconfig (on purpose or by
mistake?). All distributions disable it: in Ubuntu it has been disabled
for more than 10 years, in Debian since 2.6.31, in Fedora at least
starting with FC3, in RHEL starting with RHEL4, in SUSE starting from
15sp2, and OpenSUSE has it disabled as well.
1) /dev/kmem was popular for rootkits [2] before it got disabled
basically everywhere. Ubuntu documents [3] "There is no modern user of
/dev/kmem any more beyond attackers using it to load kernel rootkits.".
RHEL documents in a BZ [5] "it served no practical purpose other than to
serve as a potential security problem or to enable binary module drivers
to access structures/functions they shouldn't be touching"
2) /proc/kcore is a decent interface to have a controlled way to read
kernel memory for debugging puposes. (will need some extensions to
deal with memory offlining/unplug, memory ballooning, and poisoned
pages, though)
3) It might be useful for corner case debugging [1]. KDB/KGDB might be a
better fit, especially, to write random memory; harder to shoot
yourself into the foot.
4) "Kernel Memory Editor" [4] hasn't seen any updates since 2000 and seems
to be incompatible with 64bit [1]. For educational purposes,
/proc/kcore might be used to monitor value updates -- or older
kernels can be used.
5) It's broken on arm64, and therefore, completely disabled there.
Looks like it's essentially unused and has been replaced by better
suited interfaces for individual tasks (/proc/kcore, KDB/KGDB). Let's
just remove it.

Avoid allocating memory and reading the host log when a virtual device
is used since this log is of no use to that driver. A virtual
device can be identified through the flag TPM_CHIP_FLAG_VIRTUAL, which
is only set for the tpm_vtpm_proxy driver.

Check the eventlog signature before using it. This avoids using an
empty log, as may be the case when QEMU created the ACPI tables,
rather than probing the EFI log next. This resolves an issue where
the EFI log was empty since an empty ACPI log was used.

When tpm_read_log_efi is called multiple times, which happens when
one loads and unloads a TPM2 driver multiple times, then the global
variable efi_tpm_final_log_size will at some point become a negative
number due to the subtraction of final_events_preboot_size occurring
each time. Use a local variable to avoid this integer underflow.

On big endian CPUs, the ChaCha20-based CRNG is using the wrong
endianness for the ChaCha20 constants.
This doesn't matter cryptographically, but technically it means it's not
ChaCha20 anymore. Fix it to always use the standard constants.

MODULE_SUPPORTED_DEVICE was added in pre-git era and never was
implemented. We can safely remove it, because the kernel has grown
to have many more reliable mechanisms to determine if device is
supported or not.

It is impossible for debugfs_create_dir() to return NULL, so checking
for it gives people a false sense that they actually are doing something
if an error occurs. As there is no need to ever change kernel logic if
debugfs is working "properly" or not, there is no need to check the
return value of debugfs calls, so remove the checks here as they will
never be triggered and are wrong.

The driver core ignores the return value of struct bus_type::remove()
because there is only little that can be done. To simplify the quest to
make this function return void, let struct vio_driver::remove() return
void, too. All users already unconditionally return 0, this commit makes
it obvious that returning an error code is a bad idea.
Note there are two nominally different implementations for a vio bus:
one in arch/sparc/kernel/vio.c and the other in
arch/powerpc/platforms/pseries/vio.c. This patch only adapts the powerpc
one.
Before this patch for a device that was bound to a driver without a
remove callback vio_cmo_bus_remove(viodev) wasn't called. As the device
core still considers the device unbound after vio_bus_remove() returns
calling this unconditionally is the consistent behaviour which is
implemented here.

When TPM 2.0 trusted keys code was moved to the trusted keys subsystem,
the operations were unwrapped from tpm_try_get_ops() and tpm_put_ops(),
which are used to take temporarily the ownership of the TPM chip. The
ownership is only taken inside tpm_send(), but this is not sufficient,
as in the key load TPM2_CC_LOAD, TPM2_CC_UNSEAL and TPM2_FLUSH_CONTEXT
need to be done as a one single atom.
Take the TPM chip ownership before sending anything with
tpm_try_get_ops() and tpm_put_ops(), and use tpm_transmit_cmd() to send
TPM commands instead of tpm_send(), reverting back to the old behaviour.

Create sysfs per hash groups with 24 PCR files in them one group,
named pcr-<hash>, for each agile hash of the TPM. The files are
plugged in to a PCR read function which is TPM version agnostic, so
this works also for TPM 1.2 but the hash is only sha1 in that case.
Note: the macros used to create the hashes emit spurious checkpatch
warnings. Do not try to "fix" them as checkpatch recommends, otherwise
they'll break.

Add TPM 2.0 compatible I2C interface for chips with cr50 firmware.
The firmware running on the currently supported H1 MCU requires a
special driver to handle its specific protocol, and this makes it
unsuitable to use tpm_tis_core_* and instead it must implement the
underlying TPM protocol similar to the other I2C TPM drivers.
- All 4 bytes of status register must be read/written at once.
- FIFO and burst count is limited to 63 and must be drained by AP.
- Provides an interrupt to indicate when read response data is ready
and when the TPM is finished processing write data.
This driver is based on the existing infineon I2C TPM driver, which
most closely matches the cr50 i2c protocol behavior.

The current release locality code seems to be based on the
misunderstanding that the TPM interrupts when a locality is released:
it doesn't, only when the locality is acquired.
Furthermore, there seems to be no point in waiting for the locality to
be released. All it does is penalize the last TPM user. However, if
there's no next TPM user, this is a pointless wait and if there is a
next TPM user, they'll pay the penalty waiting for the new locality
(or possibly not if it's the same as the old locality).
Fix the code by making release_locality as simple write to release
with no waiting for completion.

The TPM TIS specification says the TPM signals the acquisition of locality
when the TMP_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE bit goes to one *and* the
TPM_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE bit goes to zero. Currently we only check the
former not the latter, so check both. Adding the check on
TPM_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE should fix the case where the locality is
re-requested before the TPM has released it. In this case the locality may
get released briefly before it is reacquired, which causes all sorts of
problems. However, with the added check, TPM_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE should
remain 1 until the second request for the locality is granted.

All amba drivers return 0 in their remove callback. Together with the
driver core ignoring the return value anyhow, it doesn't make sense to
return a value here.
Change the remove prototype to return void, which makes it explicit that
returning an error value doesn't work as expected. This simplifies changing
the core remove callback to return void, too.

The block-write function of the core was not used because there was no
client-struct to use. However, in this case it seems apropriate to use a
temporary client struct. Because we are answering a request we recieved
when being a client ourselves. So, convert the code to use a temporary
client and use the block-write function of the I2C core.

When reseeding the CRNG periodically, arch_get_random_seed_long() is
called to obtain entropy from an architecture specific source if one
is implemented. In most cases, these are special instructions, but in
some cases, such as on ARM, we may want to back this using firmware
calls, which are considerably more expensive.
Another call to arch_get_random_seed_long() exists in the CRNG driver,
in add_interrupt_randomness(), which collects entropy by capturing
inter-interrupt timing and relying on interrupt jitter to provide
random bits. This is done by keeping a per-CPU state, and mixing in
the IRQ number, the cycle counter and the return address every time an
interrupt is taken, and mixing this per-CPU state into the entropy pool
every 64 invocations, or at least once per second. The entropy that is
gathered this way is credited as 1 bit of entropy. Every time this
happens, arch_get_random_seed_long() is invoked, and the result is
mixed in as well, and also credited with 1 bit of entropy.
This means that arch_get_random_seed_long() is called at least once
per second on every CPU, which seems excessive, and doesn't really
scale, especially in a virtualization scenario where CPUs may be
oversubscribed: in cases where arch_get_random_seed_long() is backed
by an instruction that actually goes back to a shared hardware entropy
source (such as RNDRRS on ARM), we will end up hitting it hundreds of
times per second.
So let's drop the call to arch_get_random_seed_long() from
add_interrupt_randomness(), and instead, rely on crng_reseed() to call
the arch hook to get random seed material from the platform.

We want all iomem mmaps to consistently revoke ptes when the kernel
takes over and CONFIG_IO_STRICT_DEVMEM is enabled. This includes the
pci bar mmaps available through procfs and sysfs, which currently do
not revoke mappings.
To prepare for this, move the code from the /dev/kmem driver to
kernel/resource.c.
During review Jason spotted that barriers are used somewhat
inconsistently. Fix that up while we shuffle this code, since it
doesn't have an actual impact at runtime. Otherwise no semantic and
behavioural changes intended, just code extraction and adjusting
comments and names.

When we care about pagecache maintenance, we need to make sure that
both f_mapping and i_mapping point at the right mapping.
But for iomem mappings we only care about the virtual/pte side of
things, so f_mapping is enough. Also setting inode->i_mapping was
confusing me as a driver maintainer, since in e.g. drivers/gpu we
don't do that. Per Dan this seems to be copypasta from places which do
care about pagecache consistency, but not needed. Hence remove it for
slightly less confusion.

The main purpose of tty_port::low_latency was removed in commit
a9c3f68f3c (tty: Fix low_latency BUG) back in 2014. It was left in
place for drivers as an optional tune knob. But only one driver has been
using it until the previous commit. So remove this misconcept
completely, given there are no users.

In case of error, we should call 'clk_disable_unprepare()' to undo a
previous 'clk_prepare_enable()' call, as already done in the remove
function.

parts of the driver. Put that code into a new function to reduce code
duplication.

When trying to disable the block we bitwise or the control
register with value zero. This is confusing as using bitwise or with
value zero doesn't have any effect at all. Drop this as we already set
the enable bit to zero by appling inverted RNG_RBGEN_MASK.

- Add arch_get_random_long() support.

The UML random driver creates a dummy device under the guest,
/dev/hw_random. When this file is read from the guest, the driver
reads from the host machine's /dev/random, in-turn reading from
the host kernel's entropy pool. This entropy pool could have been
filled by a hardware random number generator or just the host
kernel's internal software entropy generator.
Currently the driver does not fill the guests kernel entropy pool,
this requires a userspace tool running inside the guest (like
rng-tools) to read from the dummy device provided by this driver,
which then would fill the guest's internal entropy pool.
This all seems quite pointless when we are already reading from an
entropy pool, so this patch aims to register the device as a hwrng
device using the hwrng-core framework. This not only improves and
cleans up the driver, but also fills the guest's entropy pool
without having to resort to using extra userspace tools in the guest.
This is typically a nuisance when booting a guest: the random pool
takes a long time (~200s) to build up enough entropy since the dummy
hwrng is not used to fill the guest's pool.
This port was originally attempted by Alexander Neville "dark" (in CC,
discussion in Link), but the conversation there stalled since the
handling of -EAGAIN errors were no removed and longer handled by the
driver. This patch attempts to use the existing method of error
handling but utilises the new hwrng core.
The issue can be noticed when booting a UML guest:

The driver core ignores the return value of struct device_driver::remove
because there is only little that can be done. For the shutdown callback
it's ps3_system_bus_shutdown() which ignores the return value.
To simplify the quest to make struct device_driver::remove return void,
let struct ps3_system_bus_driver::remove return void, too. All users
already unconditionally return 0, this commit makes it obvious that
returning an error code is a bad idea and ensures future users behave
accordingly.

Driver of HiSilicon true random number generator(TRNG)
is removed from 'drivers/char/hw_random'.
Both 'Kunpeng 920' and 'Kunpeng 930' chips have TRNG,
however, PRNG is only supported by 'Kunpeng 930'.
So, this driver is moved to 'drivers/crypto/hisilicon/trng/'
in the next to enable the two's TRNG better.

Currently <crypto/sha.h> contains declarations for both SHA-1 and SHA-2,
and <crypto/sha3.h> contains declarations for SHA-3.
This organization is inconsistent, but more importantly SHA-1 is no
longer considered to be cryptographically secure. So to the extent
possible, SHA-1 shouldn't be grouped together with any of the other SHA
versions, and usage of it should be phased out.
Therefore, split <crypto/sha.h> into two headers <crypto/sha1.h> and
<crypto/sha2.h>, and make everyone explicitly specify whether they want
the declarations for SHA-1, SHA-2, or both.
This avoids making the SHA-1 declarations visible to files that don't
want anything to do with SHA-1. It also prepares for potentially moving
sha1.h into a new insecure/ or dangerous/ directory.

It's probably full of bugs ready for exploiting by userspace. And
there's not going to be any userspace for this without any of the drm
legacy drivers enabled too. So just couple it together.
Note that the frontend is only the /dev/agp ioctl interface, which per
Adam is only used by the i810 userspace drivers. All other drivers go
through the drm bufmap agp handling abstraction apparently.

Since commit 086d08725d ("remoteproc: create vdev subdevice with
specific dma memory pool"), every remoteproc has a DMA subdevice
("remoteprocX#vdevYbuffer") for each virtio device, which inherits
DMA capabilities from the corresponding platform device. This allowed
to associate different DMA pools with each vdev, and required from
virtio drivers to perform DMA operations with the parent device
(vdev->dev.parent) instead of grandparent (vdev->dev.parent->parent).
virtio_rpmsg_bus was already changed in the same merge cycle with
commit d999b622fc ("rpmsg: virtio: allocate buffer from parent"),
but virtio_console did not. In fact, operations using the grandparent
worked fine while the grandparent was the platform device, but since
commit c774ad0108 ("remoteproc: Fix and restore the parenting
hierarchy for vdev") this was changed, and now the grandparent device
is the remoteproc device without any DMA capabilities.
So, starting v5.8-rc1 the following warning is observed:

The s390-trng does provide 100% entropy. The quality value is supported
to be between 1 and 1024 and not 1..1000. Use 1024 to make this driver
the preferred one. If we ever have a better driver that has the same
quality but is faster we can change this again when merging the new
driver. No need to be conservative.
This makes sure that the hw variant is preferred over things like
virtio-rng, where the hypervisor has a potential to be misconfigured
and thus should have a slightly lower confidence.

Mimic the pre-existing ACPI and Device Tree event log behavior by not
creating the binary_bios_measurements file when the EFI TPM event log is
empty.

In this situation, the bios_event_log pointer in the tpm_bios_log struct
was not NULL but was equal to the ZERO_SIZE_PTR (0x10) value. This was
due to the following kmemdup() in tpm_read_log_efi():

When log_size is zero, due to an empty event log from firmware,
ZERO_SIZE_PTR is returned from kmemdup(). Upon a read of the
binary_bios_measurements file, the tpm2_bios_measurements_start()
function does not perform a ZERO_OR_NULL_PTR() check on the
bios_event_log pointer before dereferencing it.
Rather than add a ZERO_OR_NULL_PTR() check in functions that make use of
the bios_event_log pointer, simply avoid creating the
binary_bios_measurements_file as is done in other event log retrieval
backends.
Explicitly ignore all of the events in the final event log when the main
event log is empty. The list of events in the final event log cannot be
accurately parsed without referring to the first event in the main event
log (the event log header) so the final event log is useless in such a
situation.

There is a misconfiguration in the bios of the gpio pin used for the
interrupt in the T490s. When interrupts are enabled in the tpm_tis
driver code this results in an interrupt storm. This was initially
reported when we attempted to enable the interrupt code in the tpm_tis
driver, which previously wasn't setting a flag to enable it. Due to
the reports of the interrupt storm that code was reverted and we went back
to polling instead of using interrupts. Now that we know the T490s problem
is a firmware issue, add code to check if the system is a T490s and
disable interrupts if that is the case. This will allow us to enable
interrupts for everyone else. If the user has a fixed bios they can
force the enabling of interrupts with tpm_tis.interrupts=1 on the
kernel command line.
