Heiko Carstens 20c76e242e s390/kexec: fix return code handling
kexec_file_add_ipl_report ignores that ipl_report_finish may fail and
can return an error pointer instead of a valid pointer.
Fix this and simplify by returning NULL in case of an error and let
the only caller handle this case.

Alexander Egorenkov 3b90954419 s390/dump: fix copying to user-space of swapped kdump oldmem
This commit fixes a bug introduced by commit e9e7870f90 ("s390/dump:
introduce boot data 'oldmem_data'").
OLDMEM_BASE was mistakenly replaced by oldmem_data.size instead of
oldmem_data.start.

This bug caused the following error during kdump:
kdump.sh[878]: No program header covering vaddr 0x3434f5245found kexec bug?

Vitaly Kuznetsov 82cc27eff4 KVM: s390: Cap KVM_CAP_NR_VCPUS by num_online_cpus()
KVM_CAP_NR_VCPUS is a legacy advisory value which on other architectures
return num_online_cpus() caped by KVM_CAP_NR_VCPUS or something else
(ppc and arm64 are special cases). On s390, KVM_CAP_NR_VCPUS returns
the same as KVM_CAP_MAX_VCPUS and this may turn out to be a bad
'advice'. Switch s390 to returning caped num_online_cpus() too.

Tiezhu Yang ebf7f6f0a6 bpf: Change value of MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT from 32 to 33
In the current code, the actual max tail call count is 33 which is greater
than MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT (defined as 32). The actual limit is not consistent
with the meaning of MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT and thus confusing at first glance.
We can see the historical evolution from commit 04fd61ab36 ("bpf: allow
bpf programs to tail-call other bpf programs") and commit f9dabe016b
("bpf: Undo off-by-one in interpreter tail call count limit"). In order
to avoid changing existing behavior, the actual limit is 33 now, this is
reasonable.

After commit 874be05f52 ("bpf, tests: Add tail call test suite"), we can
see there exists failed testcase.

On all archs when CONFIG_BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON is not set:

Although the above failed testcase has been fixed in commit 18935a72eb
("bpf/tests: Fix error in tail call limit tests"), it would still be good
to change the value of MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT from 32 to 33 to make the code
more readable.

The 32-bit x86 JIT was using a limit of 32, just fix the wrong comments and
limit to 33 tail calls as the constant MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT updated. For the
mips64 JIT, use "ori" instead of "addiu" as suggested by Johan Almbladh.
For the riscv JIT, use RV_REG_TCC directly to save one register move as
suggested by Björn Töpel. For the other implementations, no function changes,
it does not change the current limit 33, the new value of MAX_TAIL_CALL_CNT
can reflect the actual max tail call count, the related tail call testcases
in test_bpf module and selftests can work well for the interpreter and the
JIT.

Here are the test results on x86_64:

Sven Schnelle 00b55eaf45 s390/vdso: filter out -mstack-guard and -mstack-size
When CONFIG_VMAP_STACK is disabled, the user can enable CONFIG_STACK_CHECK,
which adds a stack overflow check to each C function in the kernel. This is
also done for functions in the vdso page. These functions are run in user
context and user stack sizes are usually different to what the kernel uses.
This might trigger the stack check although the stack size is valid.
Therefore filter the -mstack-guard and -mstack-size flags when compiling
vdso C files.

Masahiro Yamada 7b737adc10 s390/vdso: remove -nostdlib compiler flag
The -nostdlib option requests the compiler to not use the standard
system startup files or libraries when linking. It is effective only
when $(CC) is used as a linker driver.

Since commit 2b2a25845d ("s390/vdso: Use $(LD) instead of $(CC) to
link vDSO"), $(LD) is directly used, hence -nostdlib is unneeded.

Vasily Gorbik 9a39abb7c9 s390/boot: simplify and fix kernel memory layout setup
Initial KASAN shadow memory range was picked to preserve original kernel
modules area position. With protected execution support, which might
impose addressing limitation on vmalloc area and hence affect modules
area position, current fixed KASAN shadow memory range is only making
kernel memory layout setup more complex. So move it to the very end of
available virtual space and simplify calculations.

At the same time return to previous kernel address space split. In
particular commit 0c4f2623b9 ("s390: setup kernel memory layout
early") introduced precise identity map size calculation and keeping
vmemmap left most starting from a fresh region table entry. This didn't
take into account additional mapping region requirement for potential
DCSS mapping above available physical memory. So go back to virtual
space split between 1:1 mapping & vmemmap array once vmalloc area size
is subtracted.

Vasily Gorbik 6ad5f024d1 s390/setup: re-arrange memblock setup
- Avoid using ULONG_MAX in memblock_remove, it has no functional change
  but makes memblock_dbg output a range which makes sense.

- Actually finish memblock memory setup before doing amode31/cr/uv
  setup.

- Move memblock_dump_all() debug output after memblock memory setup is
  complete. This gives us final "memory" regions if they were trimmed
  due to addressing limits and still "physmem" regions as original info
  which came from mem_detect.

Vasily Gorbik 5dbc4cb466 s390/setup: avoid using memblock_enforce_memory_limit
There is a difference in how architectures treat "mem=" option. For some
that is an amount of online memory, for s390 and x86 this is the limiting
max address. Some memblock api like memblock_enforce_memory_limit()
take limit argument and explicitly treat it as the size of online memory,
and use __find_max_addr to convert it to an actual max address. Current
s390 usage:

memblock_enforce_memory_limit(memblock_end_of_DRAM());

yields different results depending on presence of memory holes (offline
memory blocks in between online memory). If there are no memory holes
limit == max_addr in memblock_enforce_memory_limit() and it does trim
online memory and reserved memory regions. With memory holes present it
actually does nothing.

Since we already use memblock_remove() explicitly to trim online memory
regions to potential limit (think mem=, kdump, addressing limits, etc.)
drop the usage of memblock_enforce_memory_limit() altogether. Trimming
reserved regions should not be required, since we now use
memblock_set_current_limit() to limit allocations and any explicit memory
reservations above the limit is an actual problem we should not hide.

Vasily Gorbik 420f48f636 s390/setup: avoid reserving memory above identity mapping
Such reserved memory region, if not cleaned up later causes problems when
memblock_free_all() is called to release free pages to the buddy allocator
and those reserved regions are carried over to reserve_bootmem_region()
which marks the pages as PageReserved.

Instead use memblock_set_current_limit() to make sure memblock allocations
do not go over identity mapping (which could happen when "mem=" option
is used or during kdump).

  allows backporting to fix force_sig_seccomp

  And Arnd found an issue where a function passed to kthread_run had the

Thomas Richter 9d48c7afed s390/cpumf: cpum_cf PMU displays invalid value after hotplug remove
When a CPU is hotplugged while the perf stat -e cycles command is
running, a wrong (very large) value is displayed immediately after the
CPU removal:

The CPU hotplug off took place after 3 seconds.
The issue is the read of the event count value after 4 seconds when
the CPU is not available and the read of the counter returns an
error. This is treated as a counter value of zero. This results
in a very large value (0 - previous_value).

Fix this by detecting the hotplugged off CPU and report 0 instead
of a very large number.

Niklas Schnelle 4cdf2f4e24 s390/pci: implement minimal PCI error recovery
When the platform detects an error on a PCI function or a service action
has been performed it is put in the error state and an error event
notification is provided to the OS.

Currently we treat all error event notifications the same and simply set
pdev->error_state = pci_channel_io_perm_failure requiring user
intervention such as use of the recover attribute to get the device
usable again. Despite requiring a manual step this also has the
disadvantage that the device is completely torn down and recreated
resulting in higher level devices such as a block or network device
being recreated. In case of a block device this also means that it may
need to be removed and added to a software raid even if that could
otherwise survive with a temporary degradation.

This is of course not ideal more so since an error notification with PEC
0x3A indicates that the platform already performed error recovery
successfully or that the error state was caused by a service action that
is now finished.

At least in this case we can assume that the error state can be reset
and the function made usable again. So as not to have the disadvantage
of a full tear down and recreation we need to coordinate this recovery
with the driver. Thankfully there is already a well defined recovery
flow for this described in Documentation/PCI/pci-error-recovery.rst.

The implementation of this is somewhat straight forward and simplified
by the fact that our recovery flow is defined per PCI function. As
a reset we use the newly introduced zpci_hot_reset_device() which also
takes the PCI function out of the error state.

Niklas Schnelle da995d538d s390/pci: implement reset_slot for hotplug slot
This is done by adding a zpci_hot_reset_device() call which does a low
level reset of the PCI function without changing its higher level
function state. This way it can be used while the zPCI function is bound
to a driver and with DMA tables being controlled either through the
IOMMU or DMA APIs which is prohibited when using zpci_disable_device()
as that drop existing DMA translations.

As this reset, unlike a normal FLR, also calls zpci_clear_irq() we need
to implement arch_restore_msi_irqs() and make sure we re-enable IRQs for
the PCI function if they were previously disabled.

Niklas Schnelle 4fe2049770 s390/pci: refresh function handle in iomap
The function handle of a PCI function is updated when disabling or
enabling it as well as when the function's availability changes or it
enters the error state.

Until now this only occurred either while there is no struct pci_dev
associated with the function yet or the function became unavailable.
This meant that leaving a stale function handle in the iomap either
didn't happen because there was no iomap yet or it lead to errors on PCI
access but so would the correct disabled function handle.

In the future a CLP Set PCI Function Disable/Enable cycle during PCI
device recovery may be done while the device is bound to a driver.  In
this case we must update the iomap associated with the now-stale
function handle to ensure that the resulting zPCI instruction references
an accurate function handle.

Since the function handle is accessed by the PCI accessor helpers
without locking use READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() to mark this access and
prevent compiler optimizations that would move the load/store.

With that infrastructure in place let's also properly update the
function handle in the existing cases. This makes sure that in the
future debugging of a zPCI function access through the handle will
show an up to date handle reducing the chance of confusion. Also it
makes sure we have one single place where a zPCI function handle is
updated after initialization.

David Hildenbrand 952eea9b01 memblock: allow to specify flags with memblock_add_node()
We want to specify flags when hotplugging memory.  Let's prepare to pass
flags to memblock_add_node() by adjusting all existing users.

Note that when hotplugging memory the system is already up and running
and we might have concurrent memblock users: for example, while we're
hotplugging memory, kexec_file code might search for suitable memory
regions to place kexec images.  It's important to add the memory
directly to memblock via a single call with the right flags, instead of
adding the memory first and apply flags later: otherwise, concurrent
memblock users might temporarily stumble over memblocks with wrong
flags, which will be important in a follow-up patch that introduces a
new flag to properly handle add_memory_driver_managed().

 avoiding false positives and fixing discovered overflows[1]), this series
 contains the foundational elements of several related buffer overflow
 detection improvements by providing new common helpers and FORTIFY_SOURCE
 changes needed to gain the introspection required for compiler visibility
 into array sizes. Also included are a handful of already Acked instances
 using the helpers (or related clean-ups), with many more waiting at the
 ready to be taken via subsystem-specific trees[2]. The new helpers are:
 
 - struct_group() for gaining struct member range introspection.
 - memset_after() and memset_startat() for clearing to the end of structures.

Arnd Bergmann f98a3dccfc locking: Remove spin_lock_flags() etc
parisc, ia64 and powerpc32 are the only remaining architectures that
provide custom arch_{spin,read,write}_lock_flags() functions, which are
meant to re-enable interrupts while waiting for a spinlock.

However, none of these can actually run into this codepath, because
it is only called on architectures without CONFIG_GENERIC_LOCKBREAK,
or when CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC is set without CONFIG_LOCKDEP, and none
of those combinations are possible on the three architectures.

Going back in the git history, it appears that arch/mn10300 may have
been able to run into this code path, but there is a good chance that
it never worked. On the architectures that still exist, it was
already impossible to hit back in 2008 after the introduction of
CONFIG_GENERIC_LOCKBREAK, and possibly earlier.

As this is all dead code, just remove it and the helper functions built
around it. For arch/ia64, the inline asm could be cleaned up, but
it seems safer to leave it untouched.

Eric W. Biederman 9bc508cf07 signal/s390: Use force_sigsegv in default_trap_handler
Reading the history it is unclear why default_trap_handler calls
do_exit.  It is not even menthioned in the commit where the change
happened.  My best guess is that because it is unknown why the
exception happened it was desired to guarantee the process never
returned to userspace.

Using do_exit(SIGSEGV) has the problem that it will only terminate one
thread of a process, leaving the process in an undefined state.

Use force_sigsegv(SIGSEGV) instead which effectively has the same
behavior except that is uses the ordinary signal mechanism and
terminates all threads of a process and is generally well defined.

Collin Walling 3fd8417f2c KVM: s390: add debug statement for diag 318 CPNC data
The diag 318 data contains values that denote information regarding the
guest's environment. Currently, it is unecessarily difficult to observe
this value (either manually-inserted debug statements, gdb stepping, mem
dumping etc). It's useful to observe this information to obtain an
at-a-glance view of the guest's environment, so lets add a simple VCPU
event that prints the CPNC to the s390dbf logs.

Introduce variants of the convert and destroy page functions that also
clear the PG_arch_1 bit used to mark them as secure pages.

The PG_arch_1 flag is always allowed to overindicate; using the new
functions introduced here allows to reduce the extent of overindication
and thus improve performance.

These new functions can only be called on pages for which a reference
is already being held.

Janis Schoetterl-Glausch 85f517b294 KVM: s390: Fix handle_sske page fault handling
If handle_sske cannot set the storage key, because there is no
page table entry or no present large page entry, it calls
fixup_user_fault.
However, currently, if the call succeeds, handle_sske returns
-EAGAIN, without having set the storage key.
Instead, retry by continue'ing the loop without incrementing the
address.
The same issue in handle_pfmf was fixed by
a11bdb1a6b ("KVM: s390: Fix pfmf and conditional skey emulation").

Sven Schnelle 5ecb2da660 s390: support command lines longer than 896 bytes
Currently s390 supports a fixed maximum command line length of 896
bytes. This isn't enough as some installers are trying to pass all
configuration data via kernel command line, and even with zfcp alone
it is easy to generate really long command lines. Therefore extend
the command line to 4 kbytes.

In the parm area where the command line is stored there is no indication
of the maximum allowed length, so a new field which contains the maximum
length is added.

The parm area has always been initialized to zero, so with old kernels
this field would read zero. This is important because tools like zipl
could read this field. If it contains a number larger than zero zipl
knows the maximum length that can be stored in the parm area, otherwise
it must assume that it is booting a legacy kernel and only 896 bytes are
available.

The removing of trailing whitespace in head.S is also removed because
code to do this is already present in setup_boot_command_line().

Sven Schnelle 277c838938 s390/kexec_file: move kernel image size check
In preparation of adding support for command lines with variable
sizes on s390, the check whether the new kernel image is at least HEAD_END
bytes long isn't correct. Move the check to kexec_file_add_components()
so we can get the size of the parm area and check the size there.

The '.org HEAD_END' directive can now also be removed from head.S. This
was used in the past to reserve space for the early sccb buffer, but with
commit 9a5131b87cac1 ("s390/boot: move sclp early buffer from fixed address
in asm to C") this is no longer required.

Niklas Schnelle 6aefbf1cdf s390/pci: add s390_iommu_aperture kernel parameter
Some applications map the same memory area for DMA multiple times while
also mapping significant amounts of memory. With our current DMA code
these applications will run out of DMA addresses after mapping half of
the available memory because the number of DMA mappings is constrained
by the number of concurrently active DMA addresses we support which in
turn is limited by the minimum of hardware constraints and high_memory.

Limiting the number of active DMA addresses to high_memory is only
a heuristic to save memory used by the iommu_bitmap and DMA page tables
however. This was added under the assumption that it rarely makes sense
to DMA map more than system memory.

To accommodate special applications which insist on double mapping, which
works on other platforms, allow specifying a factor of how many times
installed memory is available as DMA address space. Use 0 as a special
value to apply no constraints beyond what hardware dictates at the
expense of significantly more memory use.

Commit a029a4eab3 ("s390/cpumf: Allow concurrent access for CPU Measurement Counter Facility")
added CPU Measurement counter facility access to multiple consumers.
It allows concurrent access to the CPU Measurement counter facility
via several perf_event_open() system call invocations and via ioctl()
system call of device /dev/hwc.  However the access via device /dev/hwc
was exclusive, only one process was able to open this device.

The patch removes this restriction. Now multiple invocations of lshwc
can execute in parallel. They can access different CPUs and counter
sets or CPUs and counter set can overlap.

Sven Schnelle 3b051e89da s390: add support for BEAR enhancement facility
The Breaking-Event-Address-Register (BEAR) stores the address of the
last breaking event instruction. Breaking events are usually instructions
that change the program flow - for example branches, and instructions
that modify the address in the PSW like lpswe. This is useful for debugging
wild branches, because one could easily figure out where the wild branch
was originating from.

What is problematic is that lpswe is considered a breaking event, and
therefore overwrites BEAR on kernel exit. The BEAR enhancement facility
adds new instructions that allow to save/restore BEAR and also an lpswey
instruction that doesn't cause a breaking event. So we can save BEAR on
kernel entry and restore it on exit to user space.

Julian Wiedmann a18c28f0ae s390/qeth: move qdio's QAOB cache into qeth
qdio.ko no longer needs to care about how the QAOBs are allocated,
from its perspective they are merely another parameter to do_QDIO().

So for a start, shift the cache into the only qdio driver that uses
QAOBs (ie. qeth). Here there's further opportunity to optimize its
usage in the future - eg. make it per-{device, TX queue}, or only
compile it when the driver is built with CQ/QAOB support.

The Principles of Operations describe the various reasons that
each individual SIGP orders might be rejected, and the status
bit that are set for each condition.

For example, for the Set Architecture order, it states:

  "If it is not true that all other CPUs in the configu-
   ration are in the stopped or check-stop state, ...
   bit 54 (incorrect state) ... is set to one."

However, it also states:

  "... if the CZAM facility is installed, ...
   bit 55 (invalid parameter) ... is set to one."

Since the Configuration-z/Architecture-Architectural Mode (CZAM)
facility is unconditionally presented, there is no need to examine
each VCPU to determine if it is started/stopped. It can simply be
rejected outright with the Invalid Parameter bit.

Improve make_secure_pte to avoid stalls when the system is heavily
overcommitted. This was especially problematic in kvm_s390_pv_unpack,

uv_call with uv_call_sched. A more complex approach was
needed, in which uv_call is replaced with __uv_call, which does not
loop. When the UVC needs to be executed again, -EAGAIN is returned, and
the caller (or its caller) will try again.

When -EAGAIN is returned, the path is the same as when the page is in
writeback (and the writeback check is also performed, which is
harmless).

Claudio Imbrenda d4074324b0 KVM: s390: pv: avoid double free of sida page
If kvm_s390_pv_destroy_cpu is called more than once, we risk calling
free_page on a random page, since the sidad field is aliased with the
gbea, which is not guaranteed to be zero.

This can happen, for example, if userspace calls the KVM_PV_DISABLE
IOCTL, and it fails, and then userspace calls the same IOCTL again.
This scenario is only possible if KVM has some serious bug or if the
hardware is broken.

The solution is to simply return successfully immediately if the vCPU
was already non secure.

There are multiple things broken about our storage key handling
functions:

1. We should not walk/touch page tables outside of VMA boundaries when
   holding only the mmap sem in read mode. Evil user space can modify the
   VMA layout just before this function runs and e.g., trigger races with
   page table removal code since commit dd2283f260 ("mm: mmap: zap pages
   with read mmap_sem in munmap"). gfn_to_hva() will only translate using
   KVM memory regions, but won't validate the VMA.

2. We should not allocate page tables outside of VMA boundaries: if
   evil user space decides to map hugetlbfs to these ranges, bad things
   will happen because we suddenly have PTE or PMD page tables where we
   shouldn't have them.

3. We don't handle large PUDs that might suddenly appeared inside our page
   table hierarchy.

Don't manually allocate page tables, properly validate that we have VMA and
bail out on pud_large().

All callers of page table handling functions, except
get_guest_storage_key(), call fixup_user_fault() in case they
receive an -EFAULT and retry; this will allocate the necessary page tables
if required.

To keep get_guest_storage_key() working as expected and not requiring
kvm_s390_get_skeys() to call fixup_user_fault() distinguish between
"there is simply no page table or huge page yet and the key is assumed
to be 0" and "this is a fault to be reported".

Although commit 637ff9efe5 ("s390/mm: Add huge pmd storage key handling")
introduced most of the affected code, it was actually already broken
before when using get_locked_pte() without any VMA checks.

Note: Ever since commit 637ff9efe5 ("s390/mm: Add huge pmd storage key
handling") we can no longer set a guest storage key (for example from
QEMU during VM live migration) without actually resolving a fault.
Although we would have created most page tables, we would choke on the
!pmd_present(), requiring a call to fixup_user_fault(). I would
have thought that this is problematic in combination with postcopy life
migration ... but nobody noticed and this patch doesn't change the
situation. So maybe it's just fine.

Masahiro Yamada 8212f8986d kbuild: use more subdir- for visiting subdirectories while cleaning
Documentation/kbuild/makefiles.rst suggests to use "archclean" for
cleaning arch/$(SRCARCH)/boot/, but it is not a hard requirement.

Since commit d92cc4d516 ("kbuild: require all architectures to have
arch/$(SRCARCH)/Kbuild"), we can use the "subdir- += boot" trick for
all architectures. This can take advantage of the parallel option (-j)
for "make clean".

I also cleaned up the comments in arch/$(SRCARCH)/Makefile. The "archdep"
target no longer exists.

one idle vcpu can't take the interrupts we want to deliver, we should

Halil Pasic 9b57e9d501 KVM: s390: clear kicked_mask before sleeping again
The idea behind kicked mask is that we should not re-kick a vcpu that
is already in the "kick" process, i.e. that was kicked and is
is about to be dispatched if certain conditions are met.

The problem with the current implementation is, that it assumes the
kicked vcpu is going to enter SIE shortly. But under certain
circumstances, the vcpu we just kicked will be deemed non-runnable and
will remain in wait state. This can happen, if the interrupt(s) this
vcpu got kicked to deal with got already cleared (because the interrupts
got delivered to another vcpu). In this case kvm_arch_vcpu_runnable()
would return false, and the vcpu would remain in kvm_vcpu_block(),
but this time with its kicked_mask bit set. So next time around we
wouldn't kick the vcpu form __airqs_kick_single_vcpu(), but would assume
that we just kicked it.

Let us make sure the kicked_mask is cleared before we give up on
re-dispatching the vcpu.

Fix two problems found in the strrchr() implementation for s390
architectures: evaluate empty strings (return the string address instead of
NULL, if '\0' is passed as second argument); evaluate the first character
of non-empty strings (the current implementation stops at the second).

ftrace_regs_caller is an alias to ftrace_caller - making ftrace_caller
quite heavyweight. Split the function and provide an ftrace_caller
implementation which comes with fewer instructions. Especially getting
rid of 'stosm' on each function entry should help here, e.g. to
have less performance impact on live patched functions.

Heiko Carstens 4e0502b8b3 s390/jump_label: make use of HAVE_JUMP_LABEL_BATCH
Specify HAVE_JUMP_LABEL_BATCH in header file. This allows to make use
of the arch_jump_label_transform_queue()/arch_jump_label_transform_apply()
mechanism.

However unlike on x86, which currently is the only user of this
mechanism, the to be patched instructions are still directly
modified. The only difference to before is that serialization is only
done after all instructions have been modified. This way the number of
serialization/synchronization events is reduced.

Heiko Carstens e16d02ee3f s390: introduce text_poke_sync()
Introduce a text_poke_sync() similar to what x86 has. This can be
used to execute a serializing instruction on all CPUs (including
the current one).

Note: according to the Principles of Operation an IPI (= interrupt)
will already serialize a CPU, however it is better to be explicit. In
addition on_each_cpu() makes sure that also the current CPU get
serialized - just to make sure that possible preemption can prevent
some theoretical case where a CPU will not be serialized.

Therefore text_poke_sync() has to be used whenever code got modified,
just to avoid to rely on implicit serialization.

Also introduce text_poke_sync_lock() which will also disable CPU
hotplug, to prevent that any CPU is just going online with a
prefetched old version of a modified instruction.

Tom Lendacky e9d1d2bb75 treewide: Replace the use of mem_encrypt_active() with cc_platform_has()
Replace uses of mem_encrypt_active() with calls to cc_platform_has() with
the CC_ATTR_MEM_ENCRYPT attribute.

Remove the implementation of mem_encrypt_active() across all arches.

For s390, since the default implementation of the cc_platform_has()
matches the s390 implementation of mem_encrypt_active(), cc_platform_has()
does not need to be implemented in s390 (the config option

Alexander Gordeev 584315ed87 s390/boot: initialize control registers in decompressor
Partially revert commit 4555b9f34296 ("s390/boot: move
dma sections from decompressor to decompressed kernel").
This is a prerequisite to allow initialization of virtual
memory in decompressor and avoid overwriting of ASCEs in
the decompressed kernel otherwise.

Since the control registers 2, 5 and 15 are reinitialized
in the decompressed kernel again, this change does not
prevent relocating of amode31 section in any way.

Niklas Schnelle 6526a597a2 s390/pci: add simpler s390dbf traces for events
We often need to figure out what operations were performed in response
to an error or availability event. The operations are easily accessible
in s390dbf/pci_msg but the events have to be correlated with these from
either the kernel log or s390dbf/pci_err. Improve this situation by
logging the most important data from error and availability events that
is the FID, PEC and FH together with the operations.

Niklas Schnelle 1c8174fdc7 s390/pci: tolerate inconsistent handle in recover
Since commit 8256adda1f ("s390/pci: handle FH state mismatch only on
disable") zpci_disable_device() returns -EINVAL when the platform
detects an attempt to disable a PCI function that it sees as already
disabled.

In most situations we want to abort whenever this happens and abort is
possible since it either means that the device vanished but we haven't
gotten an availability event yet, or the FH got out of sync which should
not happen.

Unfortunately there is an inconsistency between the LPAR and z/VM
hypervisors on whether error events for PCI functions contain an
an enabled or a general handle. So under z/VM it can happen that our
most up to date function handle is enabled but trying to disable the
function results in the aforementioned error.

Since recover is designed to be used to recover functions from the error
state let's make it robust to this inconsistency by explicitly treating
it as a successful disable.

Niklas Schnelle a46044a92a s390/pci: fix zpci_zdev_put() on reserve
Since commit 2a671f77ee ("s390/pci: fix use after free of zpci_dev")
the reference count of a zpci_dev is incremented between
pcibios_add_device() and pcibios_release_device() which was supposed to
prevent the zpci_dev from being freed while the common PCI code has
access to it. It was missed however that the handling of zPCI
availability events assumed that once zpci_zdev_put() was called no
later availability event would still see the device. With the previously
mentioned commit however this assumption no longer holds and we must
make sure that we only drop the initial long-lived reference the zPCI
subsystem holds exactly once.

Do so by introducing a zpci_device_reserved() function that handles when
a device is reserved. Here we make sure the zpci_dev will not be
considered for further events by removing it from the zpci_list.

This also means that the device actually stays in the
ZPCI_FN_STATE_RESERVED state between the time we know it has been
reserved and the final reference going away. We thus need to consider it
a real state instead of just a conceptual state after the removal. The
final cleanup of PCI resources, removal from zbus, and destruction of
the IOMMU stays in zpci_release_device() to make sure holders of the
reference do see valid data until the release.

Kees Cook cfecea6ead lib/string: Move helper functions out of string.c
The core functions of string.c are those that may be implemented by
per-architecture functions, or overloaded by FORTIFY_SOURCE. As a
result, it needs to be built with __NO_FORTIFY. Without this, macros
will collide with function declarations. This was accidentally working
due to -ffreestanding (on some architectures). Make this deterministic
by explicitly setting __NO_FORTIFY and move all the helper functions
into string_helpers.c so that they gain the fortification coverage they
had been missing.

Sean Christopherson 4eeef24241 KVM: x86: Query vcpu->vcpu_idx directly and drop its accessor
Read vcpu->vcpu_idx directly instead of bouncing through the one-line
wrapper, kvm_vcpu_get_idx(), and drop the wrapper.  The wrapper is a
remnant of the original implementation and serves no purpose; remove it
before it gains more users.

Back when kvm_vcpu_get_idx() was added by commit 497d72d80a ("KVM: Add
kvm_vcpu_get_idx to get vcpu index in kvm->vcpus"), the implementation
was more than just a simple wrapper as vcpu->vcpu_idx did not exist and
retrieving the index meant walking over the vCPU array to find the given
vCPU.

When vcpu_idx was introduced by commit 8750e72a79 ("KVM: remember
position in kvm->vcpus array"), the helper was left behind, likely to
avoid extra thrash (but even then there were only two users, the original
arm usage having been removed at some point in the past).

No functional change intended.

Alexandra Winter d2b59bd4b0 s390/qeth: fix deadlock during failing recovery
Commit 0b9902c1fc ("s390/qeth: fix deadlock during recovery") removed
taking discipline_mutex inside qeth_do_reset(), fixing potential
deadlocks. An error path was missed though, that still takes
discipline_mutex and thus has the original deadlock potential.

Intermittent deadlocks were seen when a qeth channel path is configured
offline, causing a race between qeth_do_reset and ccwgroup_remove.
Call qeth_set_offline() directly in the qeth_do_reset() error case and
then a new variant of ccwgroup_set_offline(), without taking
discipline_mutex.

Oliver O'Halloran 06dc660e6e PCI: Rename pcibios_add_device() to pcibios_device_add()
The general convention for pcibios_* hooks is that they're named after the
corresponding pci_* function they provide a hook for. The exception is
pcibios_add_device() which provides a hook for pci_device_add().

Rename pcibios_add_device() to pcibios_device_add() so it matches
pci_device_add().

Also, remove the export of the microblaze version. The only caller must be
compiled as a built-in so there's no reason for the export.

Currently the JIT completely removes things like `reg32 += 0`,
however, the BPF_ALU semantics requires the target register to be
zero-extended in such cases.

Heiko Carstens f5711f9df9 s390: remove WARN_DYNAMIC_STACK
s390 is the only architecture which allows to set the
-mwarn-dynamicstack compile option. This however will also always
generate a warning with system call stack randomization, which uses
alloca to generate some random sized stack frame.

On the other hand Linus just enabled "-Werror" by default with commit
3fe617ccaf ("Enable '-Werror' by default for all kernel builds"),
which means compiles will always fail by default.

So instead of playing once again whack-a-mole for something which is
s390 specific, simply remove this option.

We should not walk/touch page tables outside of VMA boundaries when
holding only the mmap sem in read mode. Evil user space can modify the
VMA layout just before this function runs and e.g., trigger races with
page table removal code since commit dd2283f260 ("mm: mmap: zap pages
with read mmap_sem in munmap").

find_vma() does not check if the address is >= the VMA start address;
use vma_lookup() instead.

Arnd Bergmann a7a08b275a arch: remove compat_alloc_user_space
All users of compat_alloc_user_space() and copy_in_user() have been
removed from the kernel, only a few functions in sparc remain that can be
changed to calling arch_copy_in_user() instead.
