Daniel Vetter d6ed682eba drm: Refactor drop/set master code a bit
File open/set_maseter ioctl and file close/drop_master ioctl share the
same master handling code. Extract it.

Note that vmwgfx's master_set callback needs to know whether the
master is a new one or has been used already, so thread this through.
On the close/drop side a similar parameter existed, but wasnt used.
Drop it to simplify the flow.

v2: Try to make it not leak so much (Emil).

v3: Send out the right version ...

Paul Bolle 0e7c875d1a drm/vmwgfx: use *_32_bits() macros
Use the upper_32_bits() macro instead of the four line equivalent that
triggers a GCC warning on 32 bits x86:
    drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_cmdbuf.c: In function 'vmw_cmdbuf_header_submit':
drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_cmdbuf.c:297:25: warning: right shift count >= width of type [-Wshift-count-overflow]
       val = (header->handle >> 32);
                             ^

And use the lower_32_bits() macro instead of and-ing with a 32 bits
mask.

Josh Poimboeuf 0b0d81e3b7 objtool, drm/vmwgfx: Fix "duplicate frame pointer save" warning
objtool reports the following warnings:

drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_msg.o: warning: objtool: vmw_send_msg()+0x107: duplicate frame pointer save
drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_msg.o: warning: objtool: vmw_host_get_guestinfo()+0x252: duplicate frame pointer save

To quote Linus:

"The reason is that VMW_PORT_HB_OUT() uses a magic instruction sequence
(a "rep outsb") to communicate with the hypervisor (it's a virtual GPU
driver for vmware), and %rbp is part of the communication. So the
inline asm does a save-and-restore of the frame pointer around the
  instruction sequence.

I actually find the objtool warning to be quite reasonable, so it's
not exactly a false positive, since in this case it actually does
point out that the frame pointer won't be reliable over that
  instruction sequence.

But in this particular case it just ends up being the wrong thing -
the code is what it is, and %rbp just can't have the frame information
due to annoying magic calling conventions."

Silence the warnings by telling objtool to ignore the two functions
which use the VMW_PORT_HB_{IN,OUT} macros.

Maarten Lankhorst 7ea7728387 drm/core: Change declaration for gamma_set.
Change return value to int to propagate errors from gamma_set,
and remove start parameter. Updates always use the full size,
and some drivers even ignore the start parameter altogether.

This is needed for atomic drivers, where an atomic commit can
fail with -EINTR or -ENOMEM and should be restarted. This is already
and issue for drm_atomic_helper_legacy_set_gamma, which this patch
fixes up.

Changes since v1:
- Fix compiler warning. (Emil)
- Fix commit message (Daniel)

Christian König 76bf0db554 dma-buf/fence: make fence context 64 bit v2
Fence contexts are created on the fly (for example) by the GPU scheduler used
in the amdgpu driver as a result of an userspace request. Because of this
userspace could in theory force a wrap around of the 32bit context number
if it doesn't behave well.

Avoid this by increasing the context number to 64bits. This way even when
userspace manages to allocate a billion contexts per second it takes more
than 500 years for the context number to wrap around.

v2: fix printf formats as well.

  12) Introduce devlink, which can be used to configure port link types

  13) Hardware offload support for flower classifiers, from Amir Vadai.

  14) Add "Local Checksum Offload". Basically, for a tunneled packet
the checksum of the outer header is 'constant' (because with the
checksum field filled into the inner protocol header, the payload
of the outer frame checksums to 'zero'), and we can take advantage

Gnome-Shell / Wayland assumes that page-flips can be done on a crtc
regardless of framebuffer size and the crtc position within the
framebuffer.

Therefore rework the screen target code to correctly handle changes in
framebuffer size and content_fb_type. Also make sure that we update
the screen target correctly when the content_fb_type is not
SAME_AS_DISPLAY.

This commit breaks out the framebuffer binding code from crtc_set so it
can be used both from page_flip() and crtc_set() and reworks those
functions a bit to be more robust.

v2: Address review comments by Sinclair Yeh.

Thomas Hellstrom 09dc1387c9 drm/vmwgfx: Stabilize the command buffer submission code
This commit addresses some stability problems with the command buffer
submission code recently introduced:

1) Make the vmw_cmdbuf_man_process() function handle reruns internally to
avoid losing interrupts if the caller forgets to rerun on -EAGAIN.
2) Handle default command buffer allocations using inline command buffers.
This avoids rare allocation deadlocks.
3) In case of command buffer errors we might lose fence submissions.
Therefore send a new fence after each command buffer error. This will help
avoid lengthy fence waits.

Thomas Hellstrom 575f9c8604 drm/vmwgfx: Fix a command submission hang regression
When we're out of command buffer space, we turn on the command buffer
processed irq without re-checking for finished command buffers afterwards.
This might lead to a missed irq and the command submission process waiting
forever for space.

Fix this by rerunning the command buffer submission handler whenever we're
out of command space. This ensures both that we don't needlessly turn on
the irq, and that if we decide to turn on the irq, we recheck for finished
command buffers before going to sleep.

Thomas Hellstrom 2e586a7e01 drm/vmwgfx: Map the fifo as cached
On the guest kernel side, previously the FIFO has been mapped write-
combined. This has worked since VMs up to now has not honored the mapping
type and mapped the FIFO cached anyway. Since the FIFO is accessed cached
by the CPU on the virtual device side, this leads to inconsistent
mappings once the guest starts to honor the mapping types.

So ask for cached mappings when we map the FIFO. We do this by
using ioremap_cache() instead of ioremap_wc(), and remove the MTRR setup.
On the TTM side, MOBs, GMRs and VRAM buffers are already requesting
cached mappings for kernel- and user-space.

Thomas Hellstrom 54c12bc374 drm/vmwgfx: Fix up user_dmabuf refcounting
If user space calls unreference on a user_dmabuf it will typically
kill the struct ttm_base_object member which is responsible for the
user-space visibility. However the dmabuf part may still be alive and
refcounted. In some situations, like for shared guest-backed surface
referencing/opening, the driver may try to reference the
struct ttm_base_object member again, causing an immediate kernel warning
and a later kernel NULL pointer dereference.

Fix this by always maintaining a reference on the struct
ttm_base_object member, in situations where it might subsequently be
referenced.

Thomas Hellstrom 3e04e2fe6d drm/vmwgfx: Fix execbuf locking issues
This addresses two issues that cause problems with viewperf maya-03 in
situation with memory pressure.

The first issue causes attempts to unreserve buffers if batched
reservation fails due to, for example, a signal pending. While previously
the ttm_eu api was resistant against this type of error, it is no longer
and the lockdep code will complain about attempting to unreserve buffers
that are not reserved. The issue is resolved by avoid calling
ttm_eu_backoff_reservation in the buffer reserve error path.

The second issue is that the binding_mutex may be held when user-space
fence objects are created and hence during memory reclaims. This may cause
recursive attempts to grab the binding mutex. The issue is resolved by not
holding the binding mutex across fence creation and submission.

Sinclair Yeh 05c9501859 drm/vmwgfx: Fix crash when unloading vmwgfx v2
This patch fixes two issues. One, when a surface is a proxy for a DMA
buffer, it holds an extra reference that needs to be cleared.

Two, when fbdev is enabled, we need to unpin the framebuffer before
unloading the driver. This is done by a call to vmw_fb_off().

This patch address the following underlying issues with SurfaceDMA

* SurfaceDMA command does not work in a 2D VM, but we can wrap a

command which does work in a 2D VM.

* Wrapping a DMA buffer with a proxy surface also gives us an
added optimization path for the case when the DMA buf
dimensions match the mode. In this case, the DMA buf can
be pinned as the display surface, saving an extra copy.
This only works in a 2D VM because we won't be doing any

Kernel side fence objects are used when unbinding resources and may thus be

In principle this is OK since while user-space can trigger the creation of

Daniel Vetter 4d02e2de0e drm: Per-plane locking
Turned out to be much simpler on top of my latest atomic stuff than
what I've feared. Some details:

- Drop the modeset_lock_all snakeoil in drm_plane_init. Same
justification as for the equivalent change in drm_crtc_init done in

	commit d0fa1af40e
	Author: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>
	Date: Mon Sep 8 09:02:49 2014 +0200

drm: Drop modeset locking from crtc init function

Without these the drm_modeset_lock_init would fall over the exact
  same way.

- Since the atomic core code wraps the locking switching it to
  per-plane locks was a one-line change.

- For the legacy ioctls add a plane argument to the locking helper so
that we can grab the right plane lock (cursor or primary). Since the
universal cursor plane might not be there, or someone really crazy
might forgoe the primary plane even accept NULL.

- Add some locking WARN_ON to the atomic helpers for good paranoid
measure and to check that it all works out.

Tested on my exynos atomic hackfest with full lockdep checks and ww
backoff injection.

Daniel Vetter 3cb9ae4fd8 drm: Move drm_crtc_init from drm_crtc.h to drm_plane_helper.h
Just a bit of OCD cleanup on headers - this function isn't the core
interface any more but just a helper for drivers who haven't yet
transitioned to universal planes. Put the declaration at the right
spot and sprinkle necessary #includes over all drivers.

Maybe this helps to encourage driver maintainers to do the switch.

v2: Fix #include ordering for tegra, reported by 0-day builder.

drm: Handle legacy per-crtc locking with full acquire ctx

drm_mode_cursor_common() was switched to use drm_modeset_(un)lock_crtc()
which uses full aquire ctx. So dropping/reaquiring the lock via
drm_modeset_(un)lock() directly isn't the right thing to do, as lockdep
kindly points out.

The 'FIXME's about sorting out whether vmwgfx *really* needs to lock-all
for cursor updates still apply.

Francesco Ruggeri 94e57fea62 PCI: Move PCI_VENDOR_ID_VMWARE to pci_ids.h
Move PCI_VENDOR_ID_VMWARE from device-specific files to pci_ids.h.
It is useful to always have access to it, especially when accessing
subsystem_vendor_id on emulated devices.

[bhelgaas: keep pci_ids.h sorted and use lower-case hex]

David Herrmann 915b4d11b8 drm: add driver->set_busid() callback
One step closer to dropping all the drm_bus_* code:
Add a driver->set_busid() callback and make all drivers use the generic
helpers. Nouveau is the only driver that uses two different bus-types with
the same drm_driver. This is totally broken if both buses are available on
the same machine (unlikely, but lets be safe). Therefore, we create two
different drivers for each platform during module_init() and set the
set_busid() callback respectively.
