Avinash Patil 78dfca62f1 mwifiex: populate rates in probe request using cfg80211_scan_request
Whenever available, use cfg80211_scan_request to populates rates
in outgoing probe request. This will help to advertise band specific
rates and fix an issue where 11b rates were advertised in probe
request going out on 11a band.

This will also ensure that we do not advertise 11b rates while P2P
scan is going on.

Amitkumar Karwar c3afd99fb5 mwifiex: fix adapter pointer dereference issue
It has introduced by recent commit 6b41f941d7cd: "mwifiex:
handle driver initialization error paths" which adds error
path handling for mwifiex_fw_dpc().

release_firmware(adapter->*) is called for success as well
as failure paths. In failure paths, adapter is already freed
at this point.

The issue is fixed by moving mwifiex_free_adapter() call.

Avinash Patil 953b3539ef mwifiex: check for bss_role instead of bss_mode for STA operations
This patch fixes an issue wherein association would fail on P2P
interfaces. This happened because we are checking priv->mode
against NL80211_IFTYPE_STATION. While this check is correct for
infrastructure stations, it would fail P2P clients for which mode
is NL80211_IFTYPE_P2P_CLIENT.

Better check would be bss_role which has only 2 values: STA/AP.

Amitkumar Karwar 6b41f941d7 mwifiex: handle driver initialization error paths
mwifiex_fw_dpc() asynchronously takes care of firmware download
and initialization. Currently the error paths in mwifiex_fw_dpc()
are not handled. So if wrong firmware is downloaded, required
cleanup work is not performed. memory is leaked and workqueue
remains unterminated in this case.

mwifiex_terminate_workqueue() is moved to avoid forward
declaration.

Amitkumar Karwar bedb361b50 mwifiex: correction in mwifiex_check_fw_status() return status
For PCIe cards, when wrong firmware is downloaded, firmware is
failed to be ready in 10 seconds. We should return an error at
this point. But currently we are sending first command to firmware.
As expected firmware doesn't respond to this command and command
timeout occurs.

This patch fixes the problem by removing unnecessary 'ret'
variable modifications in "if (ret) {" block.
The block is just supposed to update "adapter->winner" flag.

Amitkumar Karwar d00062e318 mwifiex: reduce firmware poll retries
After downloading the firmware, firmware status is checked by
reading a register. Polling interval is 100 msecs. Therefore 100
retries means the status is checked for 10 secs which is more than
sufficient for firmware to get ready.

This patch removes 1000 retries macro usage, because 100secs
time is not practical.

Amitkumar Karwar 2739a95d70 mwifiex: add unregister_dev handler for usb interface
Clear the data pointer stored in USB interface structure in
this handler. This helps to return from mwifiex_usb_disconnect()
if driver deinitialization is already performed while handling
an error path for mwifiex_usb_probe().

USB8797 card gets enumerated twice. First enumeration is for
firmware download and second enumeration expects firmware
initialization. mwifiex_usb_probe() always takes care of
deinitialization for first enumeration after firmware download.

Also, this change matches our handling for SDIO and PCIe
interfaces.

Daniel Drake 232fde062e mwifiex: fix IRQ enable/disable
During tear down (e.g. mwifiex_sdio_remove during system suspend),
mwifiex left IRQs enabled for a significant period of time when it was
unable to handle them correctly. This caused interrupt storms and
interfered with the bluetooth interface on the same SDIO card.

Solve this by disabling interrupts at the point when they can no longer
be handled correctly, which is at the start of mwifiex_remove_card().

For cleanliness, we now enable interrupts in the mwifiex_add_card() path,
to be symmetrical with the disabling of interrupts. We also couple the
registration of the sdio IRQ handler with the actual enable/disable of
interrupts at the hardware level.

I also removed a write to this register in mwifiex_init_sdio which seemed
pointless and won't cause any ill effects now that we only register
the SDIO IRQ handler when we are ready to accept interrupts.

Includes some corrections from Amitkumar Karwar.

Daniel Drake 6390d88529 mwifiex: fix memory corruption when unsetting multicast list
When trying to unset a previously-set multicast list (i.e. the new list
has 0 entries), mwifiex_set_multicast_list() was calling down to
mwifiex_request_set_multicast_list() while leaving
mcast_list.num_multicast_addr as an uninitialized value.

We were arriving at mwifiex_cmd_mac_multicast_adr() which would then
proceed to do an often huge memcpy of
mcast_list.num_multicast_addr*ETH_ALEN bytes, causing memory corruption
and hard to debug crashes.

Fix this by setting mcast_list.num_multicast_addr to 0 when no multicast
list is provided. Similarly, fix up the logic in
mwifiex_request_set_multicast_list() to unset the multicast list that
was previously sent to the hardware in such cases.

The panic is caused by the mwifiex_info_read() routine assuming that
there can only be four modes (0-3) which is an invalid assumption.
For example, when testing P2P, the mode is '8' (P2P_CLIENT) so the
code accesses data beyond the bounds of the bss_modes[] array which
causes the panic. Fix this by updating bss_modes[] to support the
current list of modes and adding a check to prevent the out-of-bounds
access from occuring in the future when more modes are added.

Yogesh Ashok Powar b60186f824 mwifiex: add support for Marvell SD8897 chipset
Some of the key differences between SD8897 and older chipsets
are as follows:

a) sdio mpa_rx and mpa_tx ports have been increased from 16 to 32
b) Same is the case with read/write bitmap that one receives from
   mpa_reg read
c) aggregation packet count doubled from 8 to 16
d) Most of key reg addresses are changed
e) There is a separate command or control port
f) Now command rx/tx_done have new interrupts

1. 'supports_sdio_new_mode' flag is added to handle (a) and (b).
2. (c) and (d) are taken care of by filling chip specific
   information in global structurei (mwifiex_sdio_sd8897).
3. For older chipsets, port 0 was cmd port and port 1->15 were
data port. Therefore we had CTRL_PORT_MASK to differentiate
port type. Now these changes are under 'has_control_mask' flag.

Bing Zhao 4c1079e158 mwifiex: abort remaining scan commands when association started
A full-channel scan is split to multiple scan commands in driver
before they are sent to firmware. When each scan result is back
the SSID entries are parsed and informed to cfg80211 directly.

It's observed that sometimes userspace may initiate association
as soon as the target AP is found. During the 4-way handshake
firmware may go off-channel to scan the remaining channels.
This causes the 4-way handshake to fail.

Fix it by checking 'scan_block' flag and aborting the remaining
scan in this case. 'scan_block' flag is set after association
and before 4-way handshake. It gets cleared after 4-way handshake
is completed.

This can be readily reproduced when putting the XO-4 in a loop where
it goes to sleep due to inactivity, but then wakes up due to an
incoming ping. The error is hit within an hour or two.

This issue happens when an interrupt comes in early while host sleep
is still activated. Driver handles this case by auto cancelling host
sleep. However is_suspended flag is still set which prevents any cmd
or data from being sent to firmware. Fix it by clearing is_suspended
flag in this path.

Andreas Fenkart 2716fd7d45 mwifiex: hold proper locks when accessing ra_list / bss_prio lists
Not locking ra_list when dequeuing packets creates race conditions.
When adding a packet 'tx_pkts_queued' is modified before setting
highest_priority_queue. If in-between the main loop starts, it will
see a packet queued (tx_pkts_queued > 0) but will not find it, since
max prio is not set yet. Depending on the scheduling, the thread
trying to add the packet could complete and restore the situation.
But this is not something to rely on.

Another race condition exists, if a new packet, exceeding current
max prio is added. If concurrently a packet is dequeued, the newly
set max prio will be overwritten with the value of the dequeued
packet. This can occur, because selecting a packet and modifying
the max prio is not atomic. The result in an infinite loop unless,
a new packet is added that has at least the priority of the hidden
packet.

Same applies to bss_prio_tbl. Forward iteration is no proper
lock-free technique and provides no protection from calls to
list_del. Although BSS are currently not added/removed dynamically,
this must not be the case in the future. Hence always hold proper
locks when accessing those lists.

Andreas Fenkart 333f6b22c5 mwifiex: fix infinite loop by removing NO_PKT_PRIO_TID
Using NO_PKT_PRIO_TID and tx_pkts_queued to check for an empty
state, can lead to a contradictory state, resulting in an
infinite loop. Currently queueing and dequeuing of packets is
not synchronized, and can happen concurrently. While tx_pkts_queued
is incremented when adding a packet, max prio is set to NO_PKT when
the WMM list is empty. If a packet is added right after the check
for empty, but before setting max prio to NO_PKT, that packet is
trapped and creates an infinite loop.

Because of the new packet, tx_pkts_queued is at least 1, indicating
wmm lists are not empty. Opposing that max prio is NO_PKT, which
means "skip this wmm queue, it has no packets". The infinite loop
results, because the main loop checks the wmm lists for not empty
via tx_pkts_queued, but for dequeing it uses max_prio to see if it
can skip current list. This will never end, unless a new packet is
added which will restore max prio to the level of the trapped packet.

The solution here is to rely on tx_pkts_queued solely for checking
wmm queue to be empty, and drop the NO_PKT define. It does not
address the locking issue.

cmd_pending is increased in mwifiex_wait_queue_complete() and
decreased in mwifiex_complete_cmd() currently.
If there are two or more commands in the cmd_pending_q the main

automatically after finishing current command. As a result
mwifiex_wait_queue_complete() will not be called because
the command is alreay completed. This leads to a negative
number in cmd_pending count.

Fix it by increasing cmd_pending when a cmd is queued into

commands we don't perform inc/dec operations until it's moved
from scan_pending_q to cmd_pending_q. This covers both

Avinash Patil f553e1aad7 mwifiex: modify skb->truesize for PCIE Rx
We allocate SKB buffers of 4K size to make sure that we process
RX AMSDU of 4K. So when skb->len is lesser than 4K; we should

allocated packets with 2K assumption and starts dropping packets
for large size data transfer.

Avinash Patil 48f4d91679 mwifiex: fix system freeze while reloading driver
Unload sequence for mwifiex PCIE driver is as follows:
1. Invoking cleanup module from kernel results into
   pci_unregister_driver
2. Kernel invokes PCIE remove() handler which disconnects all
   interfaces.
3. One step during disconnect is to clean PCIE TX rings.
During this we read txbd_rdptr from FW.

While loading driver next time, we see pci_enable_device()
results into system freeze. This may have happened because we
accessed PCI device after unregistering from bus driver.
Removing this ioread() operation resolves this bug.

Amitkumar Karwar d7b9c5204e mwifiex: update config_bands during infra association
Currently "adapter->config_bands" is updated during infra
association only if channel is provided by user in "iw connect"

with the rates advertised by AP.

There is corner case in which we include zero rates in

which leads to association failure.

This patch fixes the problem by correctly updating config_bands.

Rather than adding a flag to tell userspace whether or

Avinash Patil 47411a06c0 mwifiex: add multi-queue support
This patch adds support for multiple TX queues inside mwifiex
driver. Four different queues according to WMM access categories
are defined for each virtual interface. When a packet is
received from netdev for transmission, tx pending count for
particular queue is incremented and if tx pending count has
reached upper water-mark, this queue is stopped instead of
stopping all queues. Similarly when a packet is successfully
transmitted from device, tx pending count is decremented per
queue and if pending count falls below lower water-mark, queue
operations are again resumed. This ensures that not all
tranmission is blocked if traffic with particular TOS value
suddenly increases.

Also wake all queues after association/IBSS_join/uAP_BSS_start

Arend van Spriel 04b2312a68 wireless: drivers: make use of WLAN_EID_VENDOR_SPECIFIC
The include file linux/ieee80211.h contains three definitions for
the same thing in enum ieee80211_eid due to historic changes:

/* Information Element IDs */
enum ieee80211_eid {
    :
    WLAN_EID_WPA = 221,
    WLAN_EID_GENERIC = 221,
    WLAN_EID_VENDOR_SPECIFIC = 221,
    :
};

The standard refers to this as "vendor specific" element so the
other two definitions are better not used. This patch changes the
wireless drivers to use one definition, ie. WLAN_EID_VENDOR_SPECIFIC.

The next patch will introduce a flag that is set
by default in cfg80211 so drivers and mac80211
need to use |= to set features they have so that
they don't clear the already-set feature.

We could set the flag in wiphy_register() instead
of wiphy_new() to avoid this patch, but then the
drivers couldn't *unset* flags they don't want to
use even though the implementation is generic.

Stone Piao 7bff9c974e mwifiex: send firmware initialization commands synchronously
The driver will send some commands to firmware during the

which means that we firstly insert all of them to a pre-allocated

Amitkumar Karwar 16051b0e24 mwifiex: update adapter->bss_prio_tbl[j].bss_prio_cur correctly
"adapter->bss_prio_tbl[j].bss_prio_head" points to linked list of
interfaces with priority 'j'. "bss_prio_tbl[j].bss_prio_cur" is
supposed to point to next interface every time the routine for
dequeuing the packet is called. This ensures that each interface
gets fair chance.

Currently we have AP and station interfaces with priority '0'.
Therefore "adapter->bss_prio_tbl[0].bss_prio_cur" should
alternately point to AP and station nodes. Since "bss_prio_cur"
is not correctly updated, for each packet picked for AP, two
packets are picked for station interface.

This patch fixes the problem by correctly updating "bss_prio_cur".

Amitkumar Karwar a458c0ae6c mwifiex: have same priority for AP and station traffic
Currently AP interface has higher priority over station. Hence
separate entries are created in "adapter->bss_prio_tbl" for these
interfaces and station packet is dequeued only if there is not
packet in queue for AP. It is observed that ping for station
interface doesn't work if heavy traffic is running on AP.

The problem is fixed by having same priority for both the
interfaces. This patch also removes an extra initialisation

Amitkumar Karwar e3a8e0b435 mwifiex: don't disable wait_q_enabled flag
We should not disable "cmd_node->wait_q_enabled" flag here before
calling mwifiex_insert_cmd_to_free_q() because we want to wake up
the thread waiting for command completion inside this function.

The wait_q_enabled flag will be disabled internally upon command
completion.

Amitkumar Karwar 26fc36ab75 mwifiex: release semaphore acquired for internal scan operation
If "iw connect" command is fired for station interface, when
heavy traffic is running on AP interface, internal scan operation
performed before actual association is aborted. In this case we
missed to release semaphore.

Stone Piao da25186fc6 mwifiex: fix skb length issue when send a command to firmware
When we send a command to firmware, we assumed that cmd_size
will be always less than or equal to the structure size of
host_cmd_ds_command. However, this is no longer true after
we added AP support. There are some AP commands that Custom
IE TLVs are included in command buffer, hence the cmd_size
gets enlarged by the TLV data. We need to increase the skb
length for the extra data.
