The i2c_imx_trx_complete() function is using
wait_event_interruptible_timeout() to wait for the I2C controller to
signal that it has completed an I2C bus operation. If the process that
causes the I2C operation receives a signal, the wait will be
interrupted, returning an error. It is better to let the I2C operation
finished before handling the signal (i.e. returning into userspace).
It is safe to use wait_event_timeout() instead, because the timeout
will allow the process to exit if the I2C bus hangs. It's also better
to allow the I2C operation to finish, because unacknowledged I2C
operations can cause the I2C bus to hang.

The fact that some card EEPROMs do not program these enhancements may be
related to TSB81BA3 phy chip errata, if not to bugs of TSB82AA2 itself.
We could re-add these configuration steps, but only conditional on a
whitelist of cards on which these enhancements bring a proven positive
effect.

The compat code for the VIDIOCSMICROCODE ioctl is totally buggered.
It's only used by the VIDEO_STRADIS driver, and that one is scheduled to
staging and eventually removed unless somebody steps up to maintain it
(at which point it should use request_firmware() rather than some magic
ioctl). So we'll get rid of it eventually.
But in the meantime, the compatibility ioctl code is broken, and this
tries to get it to at least limp along (even if Mauro suggested just
deleting it entirely, which may be the right thing to do - I don't think
the compatibility translation code has ever worked unless you were very
lucky).

pm_op(): platform_pm_suspend+0x0/0x5c returns -38
PM: Device pxa2xx-mci.0 failed to suspend: error -38
PM: Some devices failed to suspend
4c2ef25fe0 moved the card removal/insertion mechanism out of MMC's
suspend/resume path and into pm notifiers (mmc_pm_notify), and that
broke SDIO's expectation that mmc_suspend_host() will remove the card,
and squash the error, in case -ENOSYS is returned from the bus suspend
handler (mmc_sdio_suspend() in this case).
mmc_sdio_suspend() is using this whenever at least one of the card's SDIO
function drivers does not have suspend/resume handlers - in that case
it is agreed to force removal of the entire card.
This patch fixes this regression by trivially bringing back that part of
mmc_suspend_host(), which was removed by 4c2ef25fe0.

Commit 0793448 "DMAENGINE: generic channel status v2" changed the interface for
how dma channel progress is retrieved. It inadvertently exported an internal
helper function ioat_tx_status() instead of ioat_dma_tx_status(). The latter
polls the hardware to get the latest completion state, while the helper just
evaluates the current state without touching hardware. The effect is that we
end up waiting for completion timeouts or descriptor allocation errors before
the completion state is updated.

At least one board using the FEC driver does not have a conventional
PHY attached to it, it is directly connected to a somewhat simple
ethernet switch (the board is the SnapGear/LITE, and the attached
4-port ethernet switch is a RealTek RTL8305). This switch does not
present the usual register interface of a PHY, it presents nothing.
So a PHY scan will find nothing - it finds ID's of 0 for each PHY
on the attached MII bus.
After the FEC driver was changed to use phylib for supporting PHYs
it no longer works on this particular board/switch setup.
Add code support to use a fixed phy if no PHY is found on the MII bus.
This is based on the way the cpmac.c driver solved this same problem.

This patch limit the vram allocation to visible vram until
we have acceleration up and running.
Note that it's more than unlikely that we run into any issue
related to that as when acceleration is not woring userspace
should allocate any object in vram beside front buffer which
should fit in visible vram.

setup.phone and setup.eazmsn are 32 character buffers.
rcvmsg.msg_data.byte_array is a 48 character buffer.
sc_adapter[card]->channel[rcvmsg.phy_link_no - 1].dn is 50 chars.
The rcvmsg struct comes from the memcpy_fromio() in receivemessage().
I guess that means it's data off the wire. I'm not very familiar with
this code but I don't see any reason to assume these strings are NULL
terminated.
Also it's weird that "dn" in a 50 character buffer but we only seem to
use 32 characters. In drivers/isdn/sc/scioc.h, "dn" is only a 49
character buffer. So potentially there is still an issue there.

bitmap_start_sync returns - via a pass-by-reference variable - the
number of sectors before we need to check with the bitmap again.
Since commit ef42567335 this number can be substantially larger,
2^27 is a common value.
Unfortunately it is an 'int' and so when raid1.c:sync_request shifts
it 9 places to the left it becomes 0. This results in a zero-length
read which the scsi layer justifiably complains about.
This patch just removes the shift so the common case becomes safe with
a trivially-correct patch.
In the next merge window we will convert this 'int' to a 'sector_t'

This fixes a race pointed out by Dave Airlie where we don't take a buffer
object about to be destroyed off the LRU lists properly. It also fixes a rare
case where a buffer object could be destroyed in the middle of an
accelerated eviction.
The patch also adds a utility function that can be used to prematurely
release GPU memory space usage of an object waiting to be destroyed.
For example during eviction or swapout.
The above mentioned commit didn't queue the buffer on the delayed destroy
list under some rare circumstances. It also didn't completely honor the
remove_all parameter.

Both when polling the current turbo status (in poll_turbo_status mode)
and when handling thermal events (in ips_irq_handler) the current status
of GPU turbo is updated to match the hardware status. However if during
driver initialisation we were unable aquire linkage to the i915 driver
enabling GPU turbo will lead to an oops on the first attempt to determine
GPU busy status.
Ensure that we do not enable GPU turbo unless we have driver linkage.

Register_xenstore_notifier should guarantee that the caller gets
notified even if xenstore is already up.
Therefore we revert "do not notify callers from
register_xenstore_notifier" and set xenstored_read at the right time for
PV on HVM guests too.
In fact in case of PV on HVM guests xenstored is ready only after the
platform pci driver has completed the initialization, so do not set
xenstored_ready before the call to xenbus_probe().

The fix is to call usb_autopm_get_interface() first, before we take
the lock.
Since we do not do usb_autopm_put_interface() until wacom_close()
is called runtime PM is effectively disabled for the driver, however
changing it now would risk regressions so the complete fix will
have to wait till the next merge window.

There were lots of places being inconsistent since handle count
looked like a kref but it really wasn't.
Fix this my just making handle count an atomic on the object,
and have it increase the normal object kref.
Now i915/radeon/nouveau drivers can drop the normal reference on
userspace object creation, and have the handle hold it.
This patch fixes a memory leak or corruption on unload, because
the driver had no way of knowing if a handle had been actually
added for this object, and the fbcon object needed to know this
to clean itself up properly.

Commit 959e85f7, "i2c: add OF-style registration and binding" caused a
module dependency loop where of_i2c.c calls functions in i2c-core, and
i2c-core calls of_i2c_register_devices() in of_i2c. This means that
when i2c support is built as a module when CONFIG_OF is set, then
neither i2c_core nor of_i2c are able to be loaded.
This patch fixes the problem by moving the of_i2c_register_devices()
calls back into the device drivers. Device drivers already
specifically request the core code to parse the device tree for
devices anyway by setting the of_node pointer, so it isn't a big
deal to also call the registration function. The drivers just become
slightly more verbose.

In current i2c core driver, call to pm_runtime_set_active from
i2c_device_pm_resume will unconditionally enable i2c module and
increment child count of the parent. Because of this, in CPU Idle
path, i2c does not idle, preventing Core to enter retention. Also i2c

pm_runtime_set_suspended is not called from i2c_device_pm_suspend.

erst_tab->header_length == sizeof(struct acpi_table_einj)
but Yinghai reported that on his machine,
erst_tab->header_length == sizeof(struct acpi_table_einj) -
sizeof(struct acpi_table_header)
To make erst table size checking code works on all systems, both
testing are treated as PASS.
Same situation applies to einj_tab->header_length, so corresponding
table size checking is changed in similar way too.
v2:
- Treat both table size as valid

In max8925_irq_sync_unlock(), irq control bit is set at the same time.
Zero means enabling irq, and one means disabling irq.
The original code is:
irq_chg[0] &= irq_data->enable;
It should be changed to:
irq_chg[0] &= ~irq_data->enable;
Otherwise, irq control bit is mess.

The driver was originally tested with an additional patch which
made this unneeded but that patch had issuges and got lost on the
way to mainline, causing problems when the errors are reported.

drivers/acpi/sysfs.c:154: warning: passing argument 1 of '__check_old_set_param' from incompatible pointer type
include/linux/moduleparam.h:165: note: expected 'int (*)(const char *, struct kernel_param *)' but argument is of type 'int (*)(const char *, const struct kernel_param *)'
Introduced by commit 1c8fce27e2 ("ACPI:
introduce drivers/acpi/sysfs.c") interacting with commit
9bbb9e5a33 ("param: use ops in struct
kernel_param, rather than get and set fns directly").
Use module_param_cb instead of the obsoleted module_param_call to fix a build warning.

Section 4.7.3.1.1 (PM1 Status Registers) of version 4.0 of
the ACPI spec concerning PCIEXP_WAKE_STS points out in
in the final note field in table 4-11 that if this bit is
set to 1 and the system is put into a sleeping state then
the system will not automatically wake.
This bit gets set by hardware to indicate that the system
woke up due to a PCI Express wakeup event, so clear it during
acpi_hw_clear_acpi_status() calls to enable subsequent
resumes to work.
